Results of ECW Heatwave 7/13/03:
[Dark Match]: Four Corners Match:
Elix Skipper defeated Tony Mamaluke, Delirious and Matt Sydal:
x Delirious beat Sydal via the Shadows Over Hell in 0:24:39
x Prime Time beat Mamaluke via the Sudden Death in 0:31:10
x Prime Time beat Delirious via the Sudden Death in 0:34:00
Rating: *** 1/4
Divine Storm (Chris Divine and Quiet Storm) defeated
The Stampede Bulldogs (Harry Smith and TJ Wilson) when Divine pinned TJ
with the Holier Than Thou in 0:15:44.
Rating: **
Divine Storm score the win over the Stampede Bulldogs, perhaps putting a bit of a
hiccup in their tag team title aspirations. The crowd was hyped, ready for the Bulldogs
to get the win but Chris Divine and Quiet Storm were a bit craftier and got the win
tonight.
Teddy Hart pinned Paul London after a moonsault in 0:11:57.
Rating: *** 1/4
The depature of Jack Evans might have closed one door for Teddy Hart but opened
another, as he pins London with a breath taking moonsault. Paul London and Teddy
Hart are two men who many predict will be wearing gold around their waists sooner
or later and Hart pulled out a moonsault for the victory.
New Jack pinned Bam Bam Bigelow with the 187 in 0:11:28.
Rating: *** 1/4
New Jack proves his toughness tonight, not backing down from the much, much, bigger
Bigelow, using a staple gun, a guitar, and a 187 splash with a chair to score the pin,
even though Bigelow battered him. While New Jack is not exactly the stereotypical
main event level competitor, it did raise his stock slightly defeating a former
ECW Champion.
Handicap-Match:
The Briscoe Brothers (Jay Briscoe and Mark Briscoe) defeated Paul Burchill when
J. Briscoe pinned Burchill with the J-Driller in 0:15:40.
Rating: ** 1/2
(The Briscoe Brothers won the ECW World Tag Team Titles.)
You have to wonder why Burchill thought this was a good idea, fighting the Briscoes
two on one with the ECW Tag Team Titles on the line. Burchill tried but while he is
tough as nails, both Briscoes are more than one man to handle and thus a Jay Driller
spelled the end of Burchill's hopes in accomplishing an amazing feat of being a singles
wrestler to retain the tag team titles. Three time ECW Tag Team Champions are the
Briscoe Brothers and you better believe they will be holding onto those belts for
as long as they can manage.
Homicide pinned Rob Van Dam with the Cop Killa in 0:10:22.
Rating: ****
Homicide continues his impressive winning streak as of late, putting Rob Van Dam away
with the Cop Killa. Afterwards, Homicide says he's going to win the ECW Championship
but until then, as long as they set them up, he'll knock them down. With wins over
two former ECW champions, you got to wonder if Homicide might be matches away from
cashing in with a big time title opportunity.
No-Time-Limit-Four Corners Match:
Tajiri defeated Jerry Lynn, Steve Corino and Mike Awesome:
x Tajiri beat Awesome via cross armbreaker in 0:28:06
x Tajiri beat S. Corino via the Kick Of Death in 0:30:29
x Tajiri beat J. Lynn via the Kick Of Death in 0:37:29
Rating: *** 1/2
Tajiri is your new number one contender for the ECW Championship and will be getting
a title shot on night one of that big Hammerstein Ballroom double header show in
August. He defeated three former ECW World Champions and on the heels of the second
longest ECW Television Title reign in history, Tajiri could be winning the big belt.
Christopher Daniels pinned Bryan Danielson with the Last Rites in 0:10:38.
Rating: **** 1/4
(Christopher Daniels retained the ECW Television Title.)
It seems like Danielson is dominant until the gold is on the line. Tonight, he ran
into a brick wall in Daniels, as Daniels gave Danielson the Last Rites and scored the
pin to keep the ECW Television Title. Challengers have to be lining up around the block
and Daniels is going to have a full plate. Danielson on the other hand...it might be
a while before another title opportunity comes up.
Rhino pinned Raven with the Gore in 0:09:31.
Rating: *** 3/4
(Rhino retained the ECW World Title.)
Rhino kept the ECW Championship, finishing off Raven with the Gore. Raven is one
of the most decorated ECW Champion's in history, but he could not stop Rhino. Rhino's
first two championship reigns were a bit lack luster but he seems to have struck the
charm with his third ECW Championship reign. Tajiri looms in the horizon's for Rhino
in August, as that's his next scheduled title defense. The Man Beast and the Japanese
Buzzsaw know each other very well, having been part of the dastardly Network three
years ago and now both men have come far, squaring off for the ECW Championship!
Card rating: *** 1/2
