The change is good and hopefully will slowly move us toward better overtime rules. I'd like to see overtime in ALL games grantees both teams at least one possession then it becomes sudden death.
The reason for the change is indeed annoying as hell. F.U., Brett Favre.

I personally never liked the NFL's current overtime rule...
Every other major sport on Earth has the same basic concept of overtime: You play until 1 period/inning is over, whoever has the highest score wins. In MOST cases, if it's still a tie, it ends as a draw.
For regular season games, what's wrong with a draw? As it stands NOW, if neither team scores in the NFL Overtime, it's a.... Draw :-P
But, that's just me.

The NCAA overtime rules are a good starting point.
