Ah, it's Peter! Yay! Was wondering when you would finally sign up on here. WWF-SF had its moments, I guess, but I don't even remember what my main feud was. It was mostly just Christian and Angle skits. I wish I still had some, but that computer is long gone and I lost all the cards. And, Tommy, you knew what I meant.

You should, it's probably considered one of the top five circuits done and was my personal favorite. Did we ever find out who MI Smooth was on the phone with? But yeah, I understand, going back to angles that complex is HARD.

WCW Main Event 3/29/92 Atlanta, GA: Center Stage Theatre Your host is Tony Schiavone
Tonight’s show started off with Tony Schiavone welcoming the crowd and then running down the lineup. He ended by mentioning that in tonight’s Main Event “The Cruncher” Larry Zbyszko would be going one on one with Johnny B. Badd. Schiavone said that Badd has been pretty successful as of late and a win here could catapult him right into the TV Title running. He also brought up that Larry Zbyszko had fallen off the tracks a bit since his loss to Barry Windham at Superbrawl II, but that this could be a way for him to recover. Schiavone then sent it to the ring for the in ring debut of the Orient Express. Schiavone brought up the attack from a little over a week ago on the Diamond Mine orchestrated by the Express. Because of this the Diamond Mine brought in their newest member, “The Rock” Don Muraco. Schiavone thought it would be interesting to see just what the Express can do inside the ring.
The Orient Express (Pat Tanaka and Kato) defeated George South and TA McCoy when P. Tanaka pinned McCoy with the Kamikaze Plex in 0:04:46. Rating: ** 1/4
The Orient Express cut an insert promo during the match. Kato did most of the talking as he said, in surprisingly good English, that they had come here from across the Ocean to do one thing. He said that everybody in Japan witnessed the brutal attack that Jushin Liger suffered at the hands of the Diamond Mine. Kato said that they were now sent here, not by Liger, but by Japan itself to get revenge. Kato promised that the time of attacking the so-called weak Japanese men are over and a new era has begun. Tanaka said it was time for the era of the Orient to begin. Kato threatened that they were not done with the Diamond Mine yet, and they wouldn’t be until they had felt the pain and suffering Liger felt while being ambushed.
The fans seemed a little reluctant to cheer on the Orient Express during their match, but they slowly started to win them over with some quick tags and their pure athletic ability. The Kamikaze Plex, a thrust kick by Tanaka into a bridging German Suplex by Kato, really amazed the crowd at the brutality of it as TA McCoy practically landed on his head with it. The Orient Express both made the cutting of the throat gesture after the match. The Diamond Mine may be in for a bit of trouble if these two continue to seek revenge.
Next up Big Josh and Ron Simmons, the current US Tag Team Champions, met up with Eric Bischoff on the interview stage. Bischoff first congratulated the champs on their singles victories yesterday on Saturday before asking them about their upcoming Tag Team Title defense against the Fabulous Freebirds. Big Josh said they had once again proven that they were the better overall team by beating those wannabe rock stars. Ron Simmons admitted that he respected Michael Hayes and Jimmy Garvin for all they did in the ‘80s for tag team wrestling, but it wasn’t the ‘80s anymore. Simmons said it was time for a new tag team to dominate and that it was the team of him and Big Josh. Josh acknowledged that they may not be the most obvious tag team to ever pair up, a lumberjack and a former football player, but when they are together there isn’t a team in the world that can beat them. Ron Simmons finished it off by saying that the Fabulous Freebirds will get their shot at the Clash, but they will show once again that the Freebirds are a thing of the past.
The Patriot pinned Sgt. Buddy Lee Parker with the Patriot Missile in 0:04:18. Rating: ** 1/4
The Patriot walked away with another victory here tonight. Things continue to look good for the man in the mask, but it was revealed he would be facing off with his first real challenge in Richard Morton next week on the Main Event. Richard Morton even cut a small insert promo during this match saying that the Patriot may love his country, but his country obviously didn’t love him or he wouldn’t have to hide from it behind a mask. Morton told the Patriot to be ready because next week he would learn what it’s like to wrestle a true wrestling star and not these bums he has been wrestling.
Dick Slater pinned Brad Armstrong with the Piledriver in 0:06:05. Rating: ***
Dick Slater has not been a happy camper since his loss to Marcus Alexander Bagwell a little over a week ago. He showed his temper once again here tonight as he completely man handled Brad Armstrong. Brad kept trying to fight back, but Slater would just knock him right back down to the mat with a hard right hand. A few times the referee, Randy Anderson, tried to put a stop to Slater’s punching ways, even threatening a disqualification at one point, but Slater pulled the reigns back just enough to avoid that situation. Eventually the Piledriver put Armstrong away.
After the match Slater once again got his face in front of the camera and said that Bagwell better watch out because he was going to knock his teeth down his throat. Tony Schiavone announced that over the course of the week another match had been signed for Clash of the Champions as Dick Slater would face off against Marcus Alexander Bagwell once again.
Col. Robert Parker and Dick Slater headed to the back as Schiavone sent it to some pre-recorded comments by Van Hammer and PN News.
Van Hammer said that he never thought he’d see the day where he was hanging with a hip hop star like PN News, but they both realized last week just how good a pairing they could make. PN News said that he may not enjoy rock and roll music as much as rap, but both have their places in in the music world and he can respect that. News said just like he respected rock and roll music, he can respect Van Hammer. Hammer said that they both may have different tastes in music, but they do have one thing in common and that’s the desire for some WCW championship gold.
Hip Hop Rock (Van Hammer and PN News) defeated Reno Riggins and Ruben Thomas when News pinned Thomas with the Off the Charts in 0:05:13. Rating: * 1/4
The new team of Hip Hop Rock came away from the match looking really impressive. The pure size of the two men was an intimidating sight to see. Hip Hop Rock eventually finished the match off with the move they are calling Off the Charts where Van Hammer hits his Slingshot Suplex (Hammer Rocks) and PN News immediately comes off the top rope with his splash (Broken Record). The combination of those two moves would be more than enough to put away any wrestler in WCW. They definitely have a future in the tag team scene.
Tony Schiavone then sent it to Gordon Solie who was at WCW Headquarters. Solie mentioned that nothing had changed in this week’s top ten as they all still sat at the same spot as last week:
10. Arn Anderson (10) 9. Larry Zbyszko (9) 8. Ricky Steamboat (8) 7. Steve Austin (7) 6. Big Van Vader (6) 5. Lex Luger (5) 4. Barry Windham (4) 3. Dustin Rhodes (3) 2. Cactus Jack (2) 1. Rick Rude (1) Champion: Sting (C)
Gordon Solie said that there have been some rumblings of some wrestlers that were upset that Lex Luger was still go high since he obviously didn’t care about his World Title shot when he was given one. Solie said that Luger would have the chance to prove himself this coming Saturday as he would be going at it in the main event with Barry Windham. Solie sent it back to the arena where the main event of Larry Zbyszko and Johnny B. Badd was getting ready to get under way.
Larry Zbyszko pinned Johnny B. Badd with the Brain Buster in 0:08:20. Rating: *** 1/2
Johnny B. Badd really wanted to prove something here tonight. He has been slowly rising the ladder of WCW competition over the last couple of years and this was a chance for him to really show he has what it takes. Larry Zbyszko is never a push over, however, and he wasn’t going to go down without a fight. Badd fought hard for every close fall he got, but Larry was able to get a shoulder up every time. Just when Badd looked like he might be getting close to a flurry of offense that would put him over the top, Zbyszko would always implement his stall technique to slow things back down. This eventually frustrated Badd just enough for him to make a mistake. Badd ended up going for a flying sunset flip off the top rope, but Larry hadn’t been properly worn down enough and he was able to side step it causing Badd to land hard on his back. Johnny B. Badd had the wind completely knocked out of him and he was easy pickings for the Brain Buster after that.
After the match Zbyszko and Paul E. Dangerously celebrated in the ring while Badd was helped to the back by referee Nick Patrick. Larry Zbyszko might just be getting back on track and if that’s the case, it is bad news for the rest of the WCW roster.
Card rating: ** ½
WCW Hotline:
Larry Zbyszko picked up a big victory here tonight. In fact, there were some talks that he should be in line for a Television Title shot against “Stunning” Steve Austin, but Paul E. Dangerously put a quick stop to that as he obviously does not want his two men in the ring against one another. Larry Zbyszko will be watching both the TV Title and the US Title matches at the Clash very closely, however.
The Orient Express were very impressive in their victory here tonight. The Diamond Mine better be on the lookout because they might be making a few too many enemies as of late. With the Orient Express gunning for them, their match against Arn Anderson and Bobby Eaton at the Clash, and their vying for a Title shot against the Steiner Brothers, they definitely have their hands full. Diamond Dallas Page is definitely lucky he was able to get “The Rock” Don Muraco to join up with the Mine when he did.
We are sad to report that tonight was Brad Armstrong’s last match with the company. We wish him all the best and look forward to possibly working with him sometime in the future.
Be sure to tune in this coming Saturday Night as Barry Windham faces former World Heavyweight Champion, Lex Luger, in one on one action. Not only that, but the Fabulous Freebirds team up with “Ravishing” Rick Rude to do battle with Big Josh, Ron Simmons, and Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat. Rip Rogers and Jorge Gonzalez will also be in singles action, and Mike Droese will be refereeing Rogers’ match which should be very interesting.
Also next week on the Main Event be sure to be here as The Patriot wrestles Richard Morton and in the main event Hip Hop Rock face off against Arn Anderson and Bobby Eaton!

WCW Main Event 3/29/92 Atlanta, GA: Center Stage Theatre Your host is Tony Schiavone - I have no problems with the Orient Express...but them as faces...yeah...gonna be an adjustment. - Dear God...if Simmons and Josh are the future of tag team wrestling, there is no future. - Morton can't even knock out a referee. He's screwed against Patriot. - Poor Brad Armstrong. - Hip Hop Rock? ...awesome. - Larry Z was the right call for that one. - Armstrong left? Aw. - Sting vs Gonzalez for the Clash?

I have half pondered resuming WCW-SF, but I TOTALLY could not pick those angles back up now. Should've kept better notes! WCW-SF is still one of my favorite circuits (despite that Sting-Daffney-Raven thing). This here WCW92 circuit is certainly climbing on that list too. would love to see you run a WCW fed from that era again Tommy, maybe you can re-write the NWO angle your way? I think either Tommy or Coop mentioned they considered a WCW '96 circuit (presumably rebooking the nWo?) but the roster was such a clusterfrick (RnR Express jobbing on WCWSN) they said screw it. (Took lazy to search the board for it.) Rebooking the nWo from the beginning is the great unwritten TNM circuit, along with rebooking the Invasion. WCW Main Event 3/29/92 Atlanta, GA: Center Stage Theatre Your host is Tony Schiavone Good motivation for the Orient Express there. Richard Morton is a "real challenge" for the Patriot? LOL Nice job listening to the fans with Hip Hop Rock. Like the finisher too. Rick Rude is the number one challenger to Sting? Hope Sting doesn't accidently break his neck at a show in Japan or anything. I'm sure Brad Armstrong will return to his jobbing ways in the future. There's a #1 contenders match for the World Tag Titles at the Clash, but who are the champs going to defend against? - Dear God...if Simmons and Josh are the future of tag team wrestling, there is no future. Agreed. Someone remind me why Simmons and Big Josh teamed up in the first place? Simmons is fine but Big Josh is only worthwhile as Doink. As Big Josh he's just some oaf lumberjack who dances with bears. I hope they lose the belts and Simmons moves on to something better.

Liller: - It's pretty cool that this fed is climbing the list of favorites. I always just planned on this being a time killer for me, but I've actually grown to like it. And I agree, WCW-SF is a hard circuit to top. Surprised you didn't like the Sting-Daffney-Raven stuff though. - That was Tommy that said that although I probably agree with him. That would be one hard thing to book properly. I'm surprised you've tried with WCW '98 as that's a pretty hard era too. - Yeah, after the nice response they got last week, I decided they probably would fit in nicely as a team (ala the Taylor Made Men). - Ha! Yeah, Rude is still the #1 contender since he has the US Title which automatically makes him the number one contender. I always thought it was funny that WCW pushed that the US Champ was the #1 contender, but the champ never got the shot it seemed like. - The Steiner Brothers will probably get the night off. They will be doing commentary, more than likely, for the #1 contenders match, however. - To tell you the truth, I think WCW was just looking for something to do with Simmons and Josh. In real life they only had like a one week title reign anyways and not the nearly 3 months I've given them here. - I was always a huge Big Josh fan when I was little, but when I look at some of his matches on Youtube, yeah, he's kind of silly. I still like him though. And I was always a fan of WCW Ron Simmons. Thanks for the comments, Liller. Oh, and never did properly thank you for keeping stuff going through TNM3:16 and these boards. Too bad Copp just wouldn't hand over complete control of the forums over to you on the main board. (Never thought I'd say that about you a few years back...

Oh, I remember where I was going with most of the angles...Hell, my write-ups were so detailed that it all comes flooding back.
The problem is, I no longer have an emotional connection to so many of those characters. I was a HUGE mark for Vampiro and Crowbar at the time (could you tell?) I doubt I'd pee on Vampiro if he were on fire right now, for instance.
Same thing with Daniels. That guy is one of the most overrated workers I have ever seen. If I picked WCW-SF back up tomorrow, the Church would be demolished and so would Daniels...straight into jobberdom.
And yeah, let me echo Coop: Thanks for keeping the lights on for us, Liller.

WCW Saturday Night 4/4/92 Atlanta, GA: Center Stage Theatre Your hosts are Jim Ross and Gordon Solie
Jim Ross welcomed everybody to Saturday Night. Ross acknowledged Dusty Rhodes’ absence and said that Rhodes was in training for his upcoming match with Harley Race at the Clash of the Champions. Ross said he was honored to have Gordon Solie sitting beside him for this show and next weeks as well. Solie said it was great to be here on Saturday Night, and he was really looking forward to the in ring action tonight. Solie said that in the main event tonight Barry Windham would be going at it with the “Total Package” Lex Luger. Solie said that Luger was still not in the arena and questioned if he would arrive in time for tonight’s match. Ross warned Luger that he better get here soon because after what happened a few weeks back where Lex Luger didn’t show for his World Title match, the WCW Championship Committee would not be so understanding this time.
Solie mentioned last week where both Fabulous Freebirds lost in singles action to Big Josh and Ron Simmons in separate matches. The Freebirds requested this next match to try and get some revenge and also some momentum going into their big US Tag Team Title shot against the champions at the Clash. Ross added because of the problems Rick Rude and Ricky Steamboat have that they were also included in to this match.
The Fabulous Freebirds (Michael Hayes and Jimmy Garvin) and Rick Rude defeated Ricky Steamboat, Ron Simmons and Big Josh when J. Garvin pinned Josh with the DDT in 0:10:38. Rating: ** 3/4
Ricky Steamboat and Rick Rude wasted no time in trying to get at one another. Once the bell rang they were the first two in the ring and neither man would tag out for the first few minutes despite the pleas of their teammates. Eventually Big Josh made a tag that Steamboat may not have wanted as he slapped Steamboat on the back. This eventually led to Michael Hayes getting in the ring and a different segment of the match started up with the US Tag Team Champions and the Freebirds making frequent tags to one another as they tried to get an advantage over one another. Steamboat and Rude both seemed to have a hard time just standing on the ring apron waiting for a tag and before too long they both had met each other on the ring floor and started brawling around the ring. The two men continued all the way to the back with Paul E. Dangerously running behind them trying to break it up. This left the Freebirds and Big Josh and Ron Simmons fighting it out in the ring. The last 2-3 minutes were a nice showing of what these four men could do in a tag match, but this time it was the Freebirds coming out on top when Garvin surprised Big Josh with the DDT. Hayes was able to cut Simmons off before he could run interference to break up the pinfall.
This was a big victory for the Freebirds, but it didn’t look like they were done. They apparently took exception to what the US Tag Team Champions said last Sunday on the Main Event about them being washed up. Simmons was bent over checking on his fallen partner when Hayes walked over him, whipped him around, and dropped him with his own version of the DDT. Hayes made the brushing the dirt of his hands gesture as Garvin got up on the middle turnbuckle and raised his arms in the air to a large amount of boos. Big Josh and Ron Simmons were not going to be happy when they were back up and around.
Jack Victory pinned Tommy Angel with the Free Fall in 0:05:26. Rating: ** 1/4
Jack Victory, who has been around the block a time or two, debuted here and was able to defeat Tommy Angel. Victory looked pretty good as he didn’t let Angel hit much offense and won the match with the Free Fall (a double underhook into a facebuster on his knee). Victory got his hand raised and made a few derogatory shouts towards the crowd that got a negative reaction. Victory is another name to add to the already powerful roster that WCW possesses.
The Diamond Mine (Diamond Studd and Don Muraco) defeated Kevin Neal and Robert Wallace when Muraco pinned Neal with the Cave In in 0:03:30. Rating: **
Arn Anderson and Bobby Eaton cut an insert promo during this match, and they both talked about how surprised they were to see Don Muraco joining the Diamond Mine. Anderson questioned if Muraco had lost his damned mind, and Eaton said that he lost all respect he had for “The Rock” if he thought joining a couple of slime balls like Page and the Diamond Studd was a good idea. Anderson made sure that people realized it didn’t matter if Muraco was there or not, however, as he and Eaton were going to roll right through the Diamond Mine and get their rematch against the Steiners.
The tape of the two members of the Dangerous Alliance barely had time to run before the match was over. The Diamond Studd started this match off, but once he tagged in Don Muraco we saw that vicious side of “The Rock” again. Muraco completely dominated the two opponents before winning the match with the Cave In. DDP was all smiles after the match as it was obvious that he was completely happy with the newest member of the Mine.
After the match DDP, the Studd, and Muraco joined Eric Bischoff at the interview area to talk about their upcoming #1 contenders match at the Clash. Muraco actually started this interview off by saying how great it was to be back in the ring to teach some of these so called wrestlers a little bit of respect. Muraco said he had been forgotten and thrown to the side like so many great wrestlers, but he wasn’t going to take it lying down. Muraco yelled that he was back and better than ever and he would continue to plow right through anybody that gets in his or the Diamond Mine’s way. Page said he may have had to dig pretty deep into the Diamond Mine to get Don Muraco into WCW, but as “The Rock” has shown, he was well worth it. The Diamond Studd said next Sunday he and big Don couldn’t be stopped, especially not by Arn Anderson and Bobby Eaton. Page promised that after they were done becoming the number one contenders they were going to take those two men from Japan, Kato and Pat Tanaka, and show them they should have stayed overseas with Jushin Liger. Muraco promised Page not to worry because after he got done with them Tanaka and Kato would be staying in the same hospital that Liger did.
Dustin Rhodes pinned Rip Rogers with the Bulldog in 0:05:20. Rating: ** 1/2
Dustin Rhodes had little problems with Rip Rogers here tonight. And this time there wasn’t much that Rogers could seemingly complain about as Rhodes won the match as clean as can be. Dustin Rhodes made a few threatening comments towards Steve Austin as he left the ring, but this left the referee, Mike Droese, and Rip Rogers alone in the ring. Rogers was still a little shaken by the Bulldog, but he did the normal berating of the referee. Droese and he had their problems a couple of weeks ago and it looked like things would get overly heated once again when Rogers reared back and decked Mike. Mike Droese started to shake with anger as it looked like he was going to fire back like he did last time. This time, however, Kip Allen Frey stepped out from the entrance curtain in a rare appearance for him on television. Frey told Droese he better not put his hands on a wrestler again. Frey then told Rogers he would once again be fined a week’s worth of pay for laying his hands on an official. Droese yelled something back at Frey about how it wasn’t good enough, but Frey was already putting his hands up as if to say he wasn’t finished. Frey said that if Rogers wanted to keep putting his hands on officials, and since Droese can apparently handle himself in the ring, next Sunday at the Clash these two men would go at it in the ring in a match! The crowd seemed to enjoy this as did Mike Droese. Rip Rogers just laughed as he headed out of the ring and to the back.
Jim Ross said this was quite the turn of events as Mike Droese has never competed in the ring before, but Gordon Solie brought up that Droese is 6’6 and over 300 pounds so he should be able to handle himself against a guy like Rip Rogers. Ross agreed with Solie, but he did bring up the fact that Rogers is a seasoned veteran and no matter how big you are, a guy like Rogers can really do some damage when he is focused. Solie agreed and hoped that Droese would be getting some training in the ring before the match or he might end up pretty banged up afterwards.
Jorge Gonzalez pinned Chris Sullivan with the Choke Slam in 0:02:42. Rating: **
Cactus Jack accompanied Jorge Gonzalez to the ring for his first match under his real name. Gonzalez had literally no problems with his opponent. Jorge just brushed off a couple of dropkick attempts by Sullivan before dropping him with a headbutt, and overhand chop, and eventually the Choke Slam. Sullivan was down, and it didn’t look like he’d be getting back up any time soon.
After the bell rang Cactus Jack joined Jorge Gonzalez in the ring and gave the big man a hug. The crowd really let them have it with boos until Sting stepped out from the entrance curtain! Sting sprinted down the aisle, slid into the ring, and clobbered Cactus from behind. Sting peppered him with lefts and rights before he blasted him with a clothesline that sent Jack over the top rope and to the outside. Sting turned around and was face to chest with Jorge Gonzalez! Sting didn’t take a swing at Jorge, however, Instead he walked over and grabbed a microphone from ringside.
Sting questioned Jorge about his sanity for joining up with Cactus Jack. Sting said he always has had his back and he wanted to know why deserved to be laid out two weeks ago. Gonzalez just stood there staring down at Sting which seemed to make Sting just angrier. Sting said he was always defending him and looking out for him. At this point Sting reached up and slapped Gonzalez across the face. Sting yelled at him to wake up and that Cactus Jack didn’t care about him. Gonzalez continued to stand there with no emotion and so Sting reared back and slapped him again. That was enough for the big man as he grabbed Sting by the head and dropped the World Heavyweight Champion with a big headbutt. Sting collapsed to the mat in pain as Gonzalez reached down to pull him back to his feet. At the same time Cactus Jack was rolling back into the ring with a big smile on his face. Gonzalez grabbed Sting by the throat and dropped him with a huge Choke Slam. Sting was out as Cactus Jack drove an elbow into his throat. Cactus Jack dropped several more elbows on the fallen Sting while Gonzalez simply stepped over the top rope and slowly walked to the back. Cactus Jack eventually followed while officials stormed out to check on the champion.
Marcus Alexander Bagwell pinned Italian Stallion with the Fisherman Suplex in 0:04:57. Rating: ** 3/4
Marcus Alexander Bagwell cut a short insert promo during the match. Bagwell said that all he has ever done is try his best and work hard and that is why he is where he is at today. He was extremely proud of himself when he defeated “Dirty” Dick Slater. He said that Slater is just one of those guys that you respect watching as you grow up and you look forward to wrestling. Bagwell said that he was wrong and that Slater isn’t somebody you should respect, but somebody that be put out to pasture. Bagwell promised that at the upcoming Clash he wouldn’t be going out there to try and earn Slater’s respect, he’d be going out there to beat the crap out of him.
Ross said that it’s not that normal to see Bagwell show such anger towards someone but that Slater must have hit a nerve. Solie commented that Bagwell may be young, but he’s not a guy you can underestimate and if Slater isn’t careful he may suffer his second defeat at the hands of the young upstart. Bagwell, meanwhile, put away the Stallion without too much hassle.
Barry Windham cut a backstage promo where he promised victory here tonight against Lex Luger. He said he has worked long and hard to get where he is at today, and he wasn’t going to blow it. Windham said that Luger had disrespected the entire sport by his not showing up for his World Title shot and he would make him pay for that tonight. Windham also commented on Cactus Jack saying he saw what happened to Sting earlier tonight, and Cactus better get ready for the Clash and stop worrying about Sting. Windham said he’d be putting Cactus Jack down for the three count and then it would be him and not Cactus facing Sting for the World Title at Wrestle War. Windham then took the time to wish Steamboat luck in his upcoming match at the Clash against Rick Rude for the US Title. Windham said that Rude had wormed his way out of losing that title for far too long and he had a feeling next week it would be “the Dragon” that would finally be responsible for Rude losing the strap.
Brian Pillman and Z-Man defeated Pat Rose and Rick Thames when Pillman pinned Thames with the Air Pillman in 0:06:00. Rating: ** 1/2
Brian Pillman and the Z-Man continue their winning ways since Pillman’s return. Pillman was able to hit his Air Pillman and that was enough to get the win. Once again Pillman seemed a little bit more laid back after the match as he clapped a few hands but basically headed straight to the back while the Z-Man played up the crowd in the ring.
Lex Luger had a short backstage interview before the upcoming main event with Eric Bischoff. Luger said that tonight was a big night for him as he had invited a couple of dear friends from Hollywood to come and watch him compete. Luger asked Bischoff if he had anything in his teeth before heading off camera to apparently do some pre-match flossing. Bischoff seemed concerned that Luger’s brain may not be completely on his match as he sent it back to Ross and Solie. Solie said he had never heard of somebody so full of himself while Ross said that no matter what, Luger is still considered one of the top wrestlers in the company and the world.
Barry Windham pinned Lex Luger after a flying clothesline in 0:09:31. Rating: ** 1/2
Lex Luger may not completely have his mind on wrestling right now, but you can’t deny his ability in the ring. What was surprising was that Luger was once again by himself as Harley Race didn’t appear at his side. Regardless, he and Barry Windham took it right to one another with neither man really getting an edge over the other. Lex Luger seemed a little surprised at times during the match that Windham put up this much of a fight, especially after Windham kicked out of a powerslam. Luger tried to laugh it off, but it did seem to upset the “Total Package.” Things kept going back and forth and Windham came extremely close to putting Luger away with a superplex, but Luger was able to get his shoulder up at the last second. Luger regained control a little bit later and was able to hit his snap suplex. It looked like Luger had Windham in prime position for the Torture Rack, but instead of going for it Luger took the time to do flex his muscles and pose around the ring. Luger even pointed out at the crowd a few times, apparently pointing at his guests. When Luger finally turned back around to focus on the match, however, he was caught out of nowhere with a big flying clothesline by Windham! Windham quickly hooked the leg, and despite Luger trying desperately to kick out, Windham was able to hold on long enough for the three count.
Luger quickly got back to his feet and it looked like he might attack Windham as he seemed rather upset. Instead, however, Luger changed his mind as just gave Windham a little bit of mock applause before stepping through the ropes and heading to the back.
Once Luger had completely left the ringside area Windham let loose a little celebration before pointing at the camera and telling Cactus Jack that he’s next!
Card rating: ** ½
WCW Hotline:
What a huge victory for Barry Windham! Getting a pinfall win over Lex Luger is never easy, but Windham was somehow able to pull it off. This will definitely give him some much needed momentum going into his singles match against Cactus Jack at the Clash of the Champions.
After tonight’s show Sting went to the WCW Championship Committee and demanded a match against Jorge Gonzalez. It didn’t take long for the Committee to all agree that this was a match that the fans wanted to see and so they have signed it for the Clash of the Champions. Despite Sting being the World Heavyweight Champion, however, this match will be of the non-title variety. Sting and Jorge Gonzalez use to be the best of friends, but they will collide at the Clash!
Mike Droese will make his in ring debut at the Clash where he will face Rip Rogers. Droese is one big dude, but there is a lot more to wrestling than just size. Rogers was laughing in the back after the announcement of the match saying that there was no way some simple referee could beat him.
The Diamond Mine continues to impress people, especially Don Muraco. Bobby Eaton and Arn Anderson might be in for a bit of trouble come the Clash.
Rick Rude and Ricky Steamboat continue to heat things up here tonight as they brawled to the back during the opening match. It took nearly a dozen officials to break them up. Rude and Steamboat both have decisive pinfalls over the other and it really just depends on the night as to who will come out victorious.
The Fabulous Freebirds continue to show that they are formidable force in tag team action. They may not be able to get the job done in singles action, but in tag team wrestling there may not be a better team out there.
Be sure to tune in tomorrow night on the Main Event as the Patriot goes one on one with Richard Morton and in the main event, Hip Hop Rock does battle with Arn Anderson and Bobby Eaton.
Also next week on Saturday Night, both Harley Race and Dusty Rhodes will compete in singles action. Both men have not been in the ring in quite some time so it should be interesting to see how they handle being back in the squared circle. Also Jorge Gonzalez will wrestle the Z-Man and in the main event Dustin Rhodes will team up Ricky Steamboat to do battle with Rick Rude and Steve Austin.

WCW Saturday Night 4/4/92 Atlanta, GA: Center Stage Theatre Your hosts are Jim Ross and Gordon Solie - What's Dusty training with? A case of Ho-Hos? - Uh-oh...I hope that pinfall on Josh isn't foreshadowing that Josh and Simmons are retaining. - Jack Victory! Interesting surprise. - Squish for the Diamond Mine. Seriously, Eaton? You're managed by Paul E., and you call DDP a slimeball? - Maybe Droese can train with Dusty. - Hey, Sting's friends...thanks for helpin' out! - Fun fact: Bagwell does the Fisherman's Suplex better than John Cena does. Cena's still more successful than Bagwell could have ever hoped to be. - Windham commenting on Rude-Steamboat sure seems random. - Another win for Pillman and Z-Man. Good. - Yay! Barry wins! - When's the Clash again?

- Dusty is doing some ... umm ... farm work. - I'm trying to fill up my roster with guys that I feel fit into the WCW 1992 feel, but that are guys I like. - I like squish so much more than squash. And if I had to choose between who is more of a slimeball between Page and Dangerously...well, I guess it's a tie. - Sting has friends? - Bagwell was one of those guys that seemingly had it all, but never got that full blown push. I hated his guts when he turned into Buff Bagwell, but didn't mind him so much as Marcus. - Clash is April 12th so 8 days from this Saturday Night. One more Saturday Night and two Main Events in between.
