I'm really loving this roster. Your tag team pairings are believable, not to mention the idea and name of Bad Bromance could easily be a legitimate money-maker.

Jim Powers and Paul Roma had a decent amount of fan support with them against Zack Ryder and Heath Slater, and they sure looked good out there...but Bad Bromance is really coming together as a team, and it paid off when Ryder managed to cheapshot Roma, taking out his knee, and setting Slater up for the figure four! Another eventful card! Maybe Bad Bromance will continue to move up the tag team rankings. And Regal, he's got so much backup, I don't see how anyone will stand a chance against him. That's kinda his plan...=)

PRO WRESTLING IMMORTAL Fighting Spirit 7.2.1
The show began...with Anthony Jackson vs Shinsuke Nakamura! The Fighting Spirit title tournament continued right here! Jackson attacked Nakamura before the bell, but Nakamura befuddled him with his unusual offense! After only a couple of minutes, Jackson decided he'd had enough and rolled out of the ring! He said "this isn't worth it" as he stormed away!
[Fighting Spirit Semifinals]: Shinsuke Nakamura defeated Anthony Jackson by countout in 0:03:56. Rating: ** 1/2
Inside the ring, even Shinsuke Nakamura seemed lost at why Jackson would give up so easily!
Michael Tarver and Skip Sheffield were up next, battling Bad Attitude! Saturn and Morley looked primed and ready as they met these two young powerhouses!
Bad Attitude had their workboots on, keeping Tarver and Sheffield off balance! The Regal Empire managed to get Saturn isolated, but that advantage didn't last for long, and Saturn spiked Tarver with the DVD!
Bad Attitude (Perry Saturn and Sean Morley) defeated The Regal Empire (Michael Tarver and Skip Sheffield) when Saturn pinned Tarver with the Death Valley Driver in 0:05:38. Rating: ****
Bad Attitude looked momentarily pleased with their win, then headed to the back!
Robert Roode headed to the ring, with James Storm wheeling Chris Harris to the ring for support! Storm got distracted by some lovely young lass at ringside, and inadvertently parked Harris away from the ring.
Paul Roma came out to face Roode, and he looked great in the opening minutes! Roode took control, when Storm's opponent tonight - Sting - came to the ring as Storm acted like he was about to get involved! Sting chased Storm around the ring, and Storm hid behind Harris...before rolling Harris into Sting! Roode reached through the ropes at Sting, but Sting nailed him and Roma rolled him up for the nearfall! Roode managed to cut Roma off and hit the Payoff as Sting chased Storm to the back!
Robert Roode pinned Paul Roma with the Payoff in 0:04:37. Rating: ** [Sting interfered against Robert Roode.]
Roode chased after Sting, while Harris screamed from the ring area! Roode finally, reluctantly, returned and pushed Harris back up the ramp.
Skandar Akbar and Friday brought Kamala out...to face The Greatest American Bolo (with Sensei Bolo)!
Bolo went after Kamala, showing either insanity or determination! Kamala seemed taken aback by it, but Akbar got involved and messed up Bolo's plans. Kamala took Bolo down, but Bolo fought back...when Kamala finally got him in place for Air Africa, Akbar told Kamala to get Sensei!
Kamala left the ring and went after Sensei Bolo, chasing him around the ring! Sensei ran to the back, with Kamala in pursuit!
The Greatest American Bolo defeated Kamala by countout in 0:08:10. Rating: -** 1/2 [General Skandar Akbar interfered against The Greatest American Bolo.]
After Bolo recovered, he grabbed his kendo stick and chased to the back after Kamala!
Bad Bromance came out next, with nuclear heat! Steve Williams and Ted DiBiase hit the ring, and Zack Ryder and Heath Slater got hammered right off!
Doc and DiBiase controlled the first half of the match, when DiBiase hit the ropes and Ryder pulled them down! This gave them an opening to work DiBiase over, but Doc tagged in and cleaned house! DiBiase tagged back in, and Slater drove Doc into the ring post! Doc was very stunned as Bad Bromance hit their Bad Bromance finisher for the surprising win!
Bad Bromance (Zack Ryder and Heath Slater) defeated Steve Williams and Ted DiBiase when Z. Ryder pinned DiBiase after the Bad Bromance in 0:12:09. Rating: *** 1/2
Ryder and Slater even looked shocked at the win!
It was practically a zoo as "The Mad Dog" faced "The Snake"! Sawyer, who is clearly on Regal's payroll, was here to hurt Jake! This devolved into a brawl pretty quickly, and Jake held his own! Sawyer hit his Powerslam, but Jake wouldn't stay down...so Sawyer got his chains and began choking him out!
Jake Roberts defeated Buzz Sawyer by disqualification in 0:06:09. Rating: * 1/2
Sawyer maniacally choked Jake out! Referees came out and pulled Sawyer off before he could do permanent damage!
At intermission, it was announced that next week, Shinsuke Nakamura would face either James Storm or Sting in the finals of the Fighting Spirit title tournament! The Greatest American Bolo would meet Kamala in a rematch, and Jake Roberts would face Buzz Sawyer in a rematch! Romero Contreras would battle Anthony Jackson, members of Bad Attitude and Bad Bromance would face the Tag Team Champions in two triple threat matches, Ted DiBiase would take on Michael Tarver and Steve Williams would get his title match against William Regal!
William Regal hit the ring to thunderous boos! Tag Team Champion Terry Taylor came out, slapping hands!
This was a fine technical bout, with Taylor nearly surprising Regal at a couple of points. Regal slipped some brawling in, but Taylor went blow for blow! However, when Regal used The Power of the Punch, Taylor had no counter!
William Regal pinned Terry Taylor with his special move in 0:06:45. Rating: ***
As Regal celebrate, Steve Williams hit the ring! When Regal turned around, Doc scooped him up and hit a huge Oklahoma Stampede! He held him down for at least three seconds, then slid out of the ring as The Hard Liners, Buzz Sawyer, Michael Tarver and Skip Sheffield hit the ring! Doc slid out of the ring smiling as Regal looked befuddled!
Up next, James Storm headed to the ring with Roode pushing Harris! Storm fitted a baseball cap with two beers and straws on Harris' head, while Roode parked him in the corner.
The crowd went crazy as Sting came to the ring! Minutes into the bout, Roode started to get involved, but Shinsuke Nakamura ran out! He yanked Roode off the apron and began working him over! Nakamura battled Roode up the ramp!
This rattled Storm, as he clearly expected help and Harris wouldn't be much help! Sting took advantage of Storm's rattled state and went to work! He got the Scorpion locked in early on, but Storm fought out! It went back and forth, but primarily Sting in charge, until about ten minutes in when Harris screamed for help at ringside! This gave Storm room to hit Sting with a beer bottle...but Sting kicked out!
The fight continued with several nearfalls, and Storm hiding behind Harris! Sting considering hitting him anyway, but held off. After nearly half an hour, Sting sent Storm into the corner and went for the Stinger Splash, but Storm yanked the referee in the way! Storm still took impact, though, and Sting locked on the Scorpion Deathlock!
Storm tapped like crazy...but there was no ref! However, the Hard Liners hit the ring! Murdoch blasted Sting from behind! Slater and Murdoch took turns just beating the crap out of Sting...but he started fighting back up! Storm went to the floor and looked for a chair...but Harris told him not to. Storm screamed that this was his chance and he was taking it! He grabbed a chair, and Harris grabbed for it, too! Storm let him have the chair...then shoved Harris over! He folded up the wheelchair and slid it in the ring...then threw it at Sting! Sting managed to catch it...but Storm hit the Last Call, driving the wheels of the chair into Sting's face!
As Storm went for the pin, Murdoch and Slater slapped the referee around, then dumped the wheelchair out of the ring! The crowd was livid as the referee counted one...two...three!
[Fighting Spirit Semifinals]: James Storm pinned Sting with the Last Call in 0:35:52. Rating: **** 1/4 [Dick Slater and Dick Murdoch interfered against Sting.]
Storm rolled to the floor and set the wheelchair back up, then offered Harris his hand! Harris kind of shook his head, and Storm said "I had to, Chris! This is my chance! This is my time!" Harris looked down, then extended his hand...Storm helped him into the chair as the crowd continued to boo, and some people even threw garbage! James Storm meets Shinsuke Nakamura in one week!

I've always enjoyed your circuits. I mean, there are things within them that I may not enjoy (even major stuff... see Sting/Daffney/Raven), but overall they're usually swell.

- I would complain that the Fighting Spirit Title looks kind of weak with a guy walking out for a countout this close to the finals, but it fits pretty well into Jackson's weird personality so I don't have a problem with it. - Bad Attitude continues to climb up the ladder. I would love to see a match with them against the Hard Liners. - This Roode/AMW group is just amazing and feuding with Sting fits perfectly. - Sheesh, Akbar, way to cost your man the match. - I am happy Bad Bromance walked away with the win, but when is Williams going to get his singles push under way for his match with Regal? - Man, Roberts sure has been looking weak as of late. I'm looking forward to him laying some people out. - Glad to see Williams getting some offense in on Regal before their match, but it doesn't seem like he has much of a chance going into next week. - Whoa, awesome, crazy ending to the show. Good rating too. - This stuff with Storm and Harris is really interesting and by far the highlight of the fed. Good stuff and looking forward to next week seeing how this all develops.

- Hey, I can't control Jackson. Dude marches to his own drum.
- OH, I read that as "Bad Bromance" and I was like "The Hard Liners would kill them."
- Honestly, Sting just seemed to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
- Akbar's sometimes more concerned with hurting people than with victory.
- Weird how things can go sometimes...I mean, AMW were complete lame ducks in the first cycle.

PRO WRESTLING IMMORTAL Fighting Spirit 8.2.1
The show opened with James Storm pushing Chris Harris to the ring for the finals of the Fighting Spirit title tournament! Shinsuke Nakamura came out to take Storm on!
Nakamura and Storm have both obviously been on a roll, and it had to end here for someone! Nakamura wasn't fazed by the presence of Chris Harris, and he unleashed Hell on Storm from the opening! Storm was aggressive in combating Nakamura, but still only barely kicked out when Nakamura hit the Landslide!
Robert Roode ran to the ring and Storm got the referee's attention, while Roode caught Nakamura with the Payoff on the concrete! Roode threw Nakamura back into the ring, and he staggered into the Last Call!
Storm covered Nakamura and became the very first Fighting Spirit Champion, in the worst way possible!
Match for the vacant PWI Fighting Spirit Title: James Storm pinned Shinsuke Nakamura with the Last Call in 0:10:43. Shinsuke Nakamura suffered a back injury. He will be out for approximately 1 card. Rating: **** 1/4 (James Storm won the PWI Fighting Spirit Title.) [Robert Roode interfered against Shinsuke Nakamura.]
Storm and Roode celebrated the victory by putting the boots to Nakamura for a few seconds before the referee got between them! They headed to the back, leaving Harris to struggle his way up the ramp in the wheelchair!
General Skandar Akbar, Friday and Kamala came out next...taking on The Greatest American Bolo, with Sensei in tow!
This was an overly long affair, with Bolo and Kamala playing cat and mouse. There was a lot of interference from all the outside parties, and the crowd seemed to tune out.
It seemed a relief more than anything when Kamala pinned Bolo with the Air Africa!
Kamala pinned The Greatest American Bolo with the Air Africa in 0:15:12. Rating: -*** [Friday and General Skandar Akbar interfered against The Greatest American Bolo.] [Sensei Bolo interfered against Kamala.]
Dick Murdoch and Dick Slater hit the ring, taking on The Young Stallions!
It was pretty much a mugging as Murdoch and Slater tore into Romao and Powers, culminating in a brutal Gourdbuster on Roma!
The Hard Liners (Dick Murdoch and Dick Slater) defeated The Young Stallions (Jim Powers and Paul Roma) when Murdoch pinned Roma with the Gourdbuster in 0:03:55. Rating: * 3/4
The Hard Liners looked like bullies out there, but very pleased with themselves!
Heath Slater came out to a ton of heat, followed by Sean Morley to a mixed reaction! Terry Taylor came out last, to a very nice pop!
Morley went right after Slater and Taylor let him, until the first time he went for a cover. Then it turned into more of a three way affair. Slater picked his spots, but Morley and Taylor both watched for any and all pin attempts and kept interrupting them!
In the end, Slater didn't factor into it at all, as Taylor staggered Morley and went for the Five Arm, but decided to blast Slater instead! This gave Morley the chance to catch Taylor with a Blue Thunder Bomb and get the win!
Triangle Match: Sean Morley defeated Heath Slater and Terry Taylor when S. Morley pinned Taylor after a Blue Thunder Bomb in 0:08:59. Rating: *** 1/4
Morley was pleased, pinning a Tag Team Champion!
Michael Tarver stalked to the ring to do battle with Ted DiBiase! DiBiase was all business as he took Tarver apart! Every time Tarver tried to stand and fight, DiBiase took his leg and grounded him!He locked on the Figure Four Leglock, and Tarver had to submit!
Ted DiBiase made Michael Tarver submit to the Figure Four Leglock in 0:04:50. Rating: ***
The crowd went wild for DiBiase and his strong showing!
They went crazy booing for Zack Ryder as he came to the ring! Perry Saturn got a mixed reaction, and Chris Adams got cheered loudly!
Ryder was far more assertive in this match than Slater was in his, and but he tried to keep as much focus as possible on Adams! Saturn got involved as he could, but when Adams had Ryder set up for the Superkick, Saturn blind tagged in! As Saturn kept telling Adams to leave the ring, Adams Superkicked him! Ryder nailed Adams and knocked him through the ropes, then hit the Zack Attack on Saturn to steal the win!
Triangle Match: Zack Ryder defeated Perry Saturn and Chris Adams when Z. Ryder pinned Saturn with the Zack Attack in 0:10:26. Rating: ****
Ryder slid out of the ring as an angry Adams came back in! He headed to the back as Saturn and Adams went nose to nose!
Anthony Jackson came to the ring...and immediately begged Romero Contreras for mercy! As Romero came out, Jackson reminded him of the good old days, when Romero was his Manservant, and they started a riot on an Indian Reservation! He talked about how great Romero looked in his "Diva" shorts and half shirt! Romero just kept shaking his head. Jackson asked why they had to fight, and Romero said it was because people were sick of Jackson, and Bolo just wasn't big enough to shut his mouth! When Jackson opened his mouth again, Romero popped him!
Romero unloaded on Jackson, dominating the early going! Jackson took the eyes and got a quick roll-up, but couldn't hold him! He missed a spear and hit the corner, and when he staggered to the middle of the ring, Romero blind sided him with the Border Jump! It was all over from there!
Romero Contreras pinned Anthony Jackson after the Border Jump in 0:05:26. Rating: **
As Romero celebrated, Jackson hit a low blow! Then two more! He kicked away at Romero's head while the crowd booed, and pie-faced him as he tried to struggle back up!
Robert Roode hit the ring next, set to face Sting!
Sting was on fire in the early going, bouncing Roode from pillar to post! Roode begged for mercy and got none! However, he dodged a Stinger Splash and hit a huge Northern Lariat for two!
Roode managed to sneak in a low blow, and tried to roll Sting up, but Paul Roma sprinted to the ring! Roode put his feet on the ropes and nearly got three, but Roma knocked his feet off! Roode was livid, and Sting recovered...firing up on Roode and hitting a huge bulldog for three!
Sting pinned Robert Roode after a bulldog in 0:12:59. Rating: *** [Paul Roma interfered against Robert Roode.]
Sting thanked Roma as he headed to the back!
At intermission it was announced that next week, James Storm would make his first Fighting Spirit title defense: Against The Greatest American Bolo! Robert Roode would square off against Paul Roma! Anthony Jackson would meet Jim Powers! Terry Taylor and Chris Adams would put the Tag Team titles on the line against Bad Attitude!
Buzz Sawyer versus Jake Roberts was up next! Sawyer thought he had the jump on Jake, but Roberts slithered sideways and unloaded on Sawyer! A huge clothesline followed by a kneelift left Sawyer staggering! Roberts went for the DDT, when the Hard Liners ran out! Murdoch hit Roberts with a huge clothesline!
Jake Roberts defeated Buzz Sawyer by disqualification in 0:04:25. Rating: * 1/4 [Dick Murdoch interfered against Jake Roberts.]
It turned into a very ugly three on one very quickly!! Roberts tried to fight them off, even taking Slater to the mat, but Sawyer and Murdoch were on top of him! Murdoch told Sawyer to get his chains...but Sting ran to the ring! He dove off the top rope and over Murdoch, wiping out Sawyer! Murdoch attacked him from behind, but Sting fired up and sent him over the ropes! He sent a charging Dick Slater right after him! He got Sawyer's chains and swung them around the ring, keeping The Hard Liners and Sawyer back!
Sting reached down...and offered his hand to Jake! Roberts smiled, nodded, and took his hand, accepting Sting's help! If The Hard Liners and Sawyer thought about rushing the ring again, they thought twice when Sting and Roberts stood side by side!
"Dr. Death" Steve Williams hit the ring, firing the crowd up as he prepared to face William Regal!! Regal came out next, title around his waist!
Doc cornered Regal early on, and as the referee was separating them, Regal made some kind of hand signal! He grabbed the referee and held him in the corner as Buzz Sawyer ran in and nailed Doctor Death in the back of the head with a chain! Sawyer bailed, and Regal charged with the Knee Trembler! Doc wasn't quite out, but he sure couldn't kick out!
William Regal pinned Steve Williams with the Knee Trembler in 0:01:54. Rating: *** 1/4 (William Regal retained the PWI Heavyweight Title.) [Buzz Sawyer interfered against Steve Williams.]
Regal gives the order, and Sawyer is all over Doc like a wild animal! Sawyer is just pounding away while Regal calls the shots! The crowd cheers as Ted DiBiase runs to the ring, but Regal blasts him with The Power of the Punch as he enters the ring, and he crumples!
Regal, seeing Doc a bloody mess, calls Sawyer off! The two men head to the back, the crowd livid!
Card rating: ** 1/2

- Poor Harris, getting left behind like that.
- Glad to see Storm go over. He should make a fun champ.
- Aww, I thought Bolo might pull off the upset. I have no idea where you go with Kamala from here as after JYD left he doesn't seem to fit in very well anywhere.
- Hard Liners needed that squash.
- Wow, Morley sure is getting quite the push. I guess this might be building to Bad Attitude vs Taylor/Adams and that sounds good to me.
- Tarver and Sheffield sure haven't had much luck as of late, but I'm a big fan of DiBiase so no problems here.
- Oh, so a triangle tag match.
- I was afraid you'd end the feud after this match between Jackson-Romero. I'm glad that isn't so.
- Umm...Roma, go where you are wanted. And that's not here.
- Good to see Sting get the win here, and Roode didn't look overly weak.
- Well, apparently Sting finally "trusts" Jake. I'm definitely looking forward to where this goes from here.
- That wasn't quite the classic match I was expecting, but I'm guessing this sets up a nice tag team main event between Williams and DiBiase against Regal and Sawyer.
- So who is the main face challenger for Regal?
|
|
|
Post by tommybrownell on Jun 24, 2010 10:11:34 GMT -5
- There hasn't been a main face challenger for Regal in this cycle, and that's partially by design. After all, the cycle is called Fighting Spirit, and the guys in the mix of that tournament (namely Storm and Nakamura) have been pretty heavily featured.
- Of course, Jake getting hurt two or three shows in didn't help.
- As for Tarver and Sheffield...Tarver has to show up once in a while if he wants a push.

- Oh, and I guess I don't understand: How has JYD being gone affected Kamala? I think they wrestled each other something like one time. JYD spent basically his entire time feuding with Regal.

I meant it more along the lines of JYD and Kamala seem like two of the same so it wasn't that obvious that they didn't fit in. Now with JYD gone Kamala really seems out of place.

Yeah...um...I'm not sure how to reply to that without making you look racist.
I mean, half of my roster were contemporaries of Kamala and JYD (Adams, Taylor, Duggan, DiBiase, Dr. Death, Murdoch, Dick Slater, Buzz Sawyer, Jake Roberts)...every one of those guys went through Mid-South around the time JYD and Kamala did...so if you're not talking about them being black, I have no idea what you're talking about...=P
