I'm getting into the sister angle. It's usually pretty hard for me to become interested in a women's angle in a men's circuit, but you have done a good job so far with it. The match between the Destroyer and Valentine should be a good one. I have to think that the Destroyer goes over, but I also don't think he's regaining the gold quite yet. I'm not sure what the booking will be for all of this, and that is a good thing. Sad to see Valiant lose, but Lyon-Destroyer is a money match. Looking forward to where all of this goes. Oh, and I agree with Ryan, this format is a lot better and easier to read. Good stuff! Thanks. but please, please, please keep in mind that this was booked when I was about 14 years old, plus even if we were using pen and paper this was mostly unbooked results. So expect it to be more like a badly run indy fed then something that resembles proper booking. At the moment I don't even remember who wins the Destroyer-Valentine match until I pull up the next set of results.

I understand, just kind of going with what I think will happen or could happen. You're never going to make me dislike a circuit because of a result of a match (unless you all of a sudden you start jobbing a main eventer to curtain jerkers without some sort of build).
Besides, I am really anxious to see a few years down the road and where everything goes.

[glow=red,2,300]April 23, 1983 River City Wrestling #96 Winnipeg Convention Cente, Winnipeg, MB[/glow] We are welcomed by the hosts Ron Strong & Mike Stone. Our opening bout will feature ladies tag team action. "No One Like You" plays and the crowd cheers as Tawney England comes down to the ring accompanied by Jeannie Rahib, who has obviously returned to try and win back her spot on the roster. Already waiting in the ring are the inscrupulous Corrie England and her partner Shelly Salter. Opening Bout: If Tawney and Jeannie win then Jeannie is reinstated Tawney England & Jeannie Rahib v Corrie England & Shelly Salter
Jeannie saw a lot of action early, as Shelly Salter played Ricky Morton and was worked over by the fan favorites. However, soon the tables were turned thanks to some double teaming and it was Rahib's turn to spend some time in peril. However, she managed to survive a piledriver and tag out to Tawney. However, at this point Tawney shocked the crowd as she turned on her partner, helping her sister lay a beatdown on Rahib. Corrie then gave Rahib another piledriver before attempting the pin. However, referee George Gadasky called for the bell. His decision was to award the bout to Rahib and Tawney by disqualification for some reason. Tawney England & Jeannie Rahib defeated Corrie England & Shelly Salter by disqualification at 5:42 Post-Match: The fans jeered the England sisters so much that they moved the interview to outside the ring to save the mat from being hit with thrown sodas. The sisters laughed at having put one over on Rahib, and told her to get her fat butt out of town. However, as they laughed out came matchmaker Marty Goldstein. He informed the sisters that because the match had been awarded to Tawney & Jeannie that due to the match stipulations Jeannie was reinstated in RCW. The ladies understandably went ballistic.
Pre-Match: Prior to the second bout starting, the tag team champs, the Roughnecks came down to the ring accompanied by Bonecrusher. Stan Rodgers said that after watching how 'crusher beat up on Claw last week the tag champs decided to enlist his help to try and keep the Canadian Kodiaks from pulling off any fast ones today. To that end, the 'crusher has obtained a temporary managerial license to stand at ringside with the Roughnecks tonight, as their special enforcer. Bout #2: RCW Tag Team Title Match The Roughnecks: Stan Rodgers & Russel Riggs (champions) (/w Bonecrusher), combined weight of 555 lbs. v The Canadian Kodiaks: Bear & Claw, combined weight of 628 lbs.
Power versus power in this match, and even though the Kodiaks were bigger the Roughnecks may have been a bit old school tougher. A double team clothesline on Riggs sets up Bear putting Riggs in a full nelson. Riggs manages to survive that power by getting to the ring, and after a bit more of a beating gets the hot tag out to Rodgers. The champs try to return the favor of a double team clothesline but Bear ducks under it and takes out Rodgers while Claw entered the ring and took out Riggs from behind. Bear though takes too much time and after a backbreaker he telegraphs a kick to the head that Rodgers blocks from his knees. Rodgers goes to work on Bear with an elbowsmash, kneedrop, and bodyslam. Claw see's the inevitable and tries to enter the ring, so Riggs attempts to head him off at the pass. However, the ref sees Riggs first and deals with him, leaving Claw a clar line to the back of Rodgers. But before he can get there he is clotheslined out of the blue by Bonecrusher and then thrown out of the ring. Rodgers nails Bear with a piledriver and gets the 1, 2, 3!!
The Roughnecks defeated The Canadian Kodiaks when Stan pinned Bear with the piledriver in 0:08:58. [The Roughnecks retained the RCW Tag Team Championships.]
Bout #3: Buddy Lane, 225 lbs., Winnipeg, Manitoba v Adrian Adonis, 245 lbs., New York, NY
Adonis attacked Lane before the opening bell even sounded immediately putting the local boy on the defense. Adonis nearly finishes Lane off early after a spinebsuter slam. Every time Lane tries to mount a comeback Adonis the cagey veteran stops it. Lane tried to charge Adonis in the corner but he moved out of the way. He tried a basebal slide, but again Adonis moved out of the way. Lane though manages to get his composure back and starts to fight a counterattack style. When Adonis goes for a back suplex for instance Lane counters by twising out of it. Just when it looks like Lane is maturing and learning he makes the mistake of taking the match outside the ring. There Adonis once again proves why he is known for his dirty tactics, pushing Lane into the guardrail and the ringpost. Back inside though Adonis makes the mistake of toying with Lane, as he slows the match down by peppering in a few punches. Lane fires back, nails Adonis with a backdrop, a pair of flying dropkicks, and then goes for the pin, 1, 2, 3!!
The winner is Buddy Lane. Buddy Lane pinned Adrian Adonis after a flying dropkick in 0:07:50.
Huge upset win for Buddy Lane!!!
MAIN EVENT #1 Contender Match - winner gets RCW Title shot next week The Destroyer, 252 lbs., from parts unknown v Greg Valentine, 243 lbs., Seattle, Washington
The fans were on edge for this battle, nervous anticipation filling the hall. Valentine goes right to the offense and nails Destroyer with two atomic drops, a kneebreaker, a backdrop, and a gutwrench suplex, but only gets a 1 count on the pin. Destroyer then goes on the offensive but instead of impact moves he tries to wear down his opponent with leglocks and abdominal stretch. That strategy changes however when the match spills outside the ring and it gets nastier. Destroyer dropkicks Valentine who goes head first into the guardrail and comes up busted wide open. Back inside the former RCW champ bounces Valentine off the mat with a release German suplex but can only get a 2 count. A minute later and Destroyer looks to have the match won with his signature move, a crucifix into a pin but somehow, maybe aided by a slightly slow count from ref Wyatt Hall, Valentine is able to kick out. The match takes a decidedly low brow turn when it becomes a slug fest, which would normally favor the rough and tumble Valentine, but wearing his crimson mask it seems to have him weakened. Valentine tries to get a breather outside the ring but the Destroyer takes the brawl to the floor. Back inside the masked fan favorite continues to go to work with an armdrag takedown, fireman's carry takedown, and a backdrop. Valentine is being forced to expend a lot of energy just getting up and down from the mat. But when the Destroyer goes for a clothesline Valentine counters with a clothesline of his own knocking Destroyer out of the ring. Valentine follows him out and nails a back suplex before throwing him shoulder first into the ringpost. He then continues the beating sending the former champ into the guardrail, and then the ringsteps. Valentine seems happy to just take the countout. But when he goes for a gutwrench Destroyer reverses the move and suplexes Valentine instead. The masked man rolls his opponent back inside and barely manages to beat the 10 count. Valentine slowly staggers to his feet only to have the masked technician take him down again with the crucifix rolled into a pin, for the 1, 2, 3!!
The Destroyer pinned Greg Valentine with the Crucifix into a pin in 0:12:21. That's it for another edition of River City Wrestling. Next week's episode will feature only one match, a 2 out of 3 falls bout between the Destroyer and Chris Lyon for the RCW Heavyweight championship!

April 30, 1983 River City Wrestling #97 Winnipeg Convention Cente, Winnipeg, MB We are welcomed by the hosts Ron Strong & Mike Stone. This week we have a special card in store for the fans. Tonight's match, and I do mean match in the singular term, was a classic confrontation that has been building for months. Chris Lyon puts his RCW Heavyweight title on the line, in a best 2 out of 3 falls match against two time former champion, and current #1 contender thanks to his victory over Greg Valentine, RCW's own, The Destroyer !! This match will be shown in its entirety. Enjoy !! MAIN EVENT RCW Heavyweight Championship Best 2 out of 3 Falls 60-minute time limit Chris Lyon, (champion) 236 lbs., Winnipeg, Canada v The Destroyer, (#1 contender), 252 lbs., parts unknown
The advantage changes back and forth in the first fall. For someone with a fairly stocky build its amazing at the basic athleticism and agility that the Destroyer is able to show in the ring, on even simple moves like a monkey flip. He truly personifies grace in the ring. On the other hand Chris Lyon prefers to use a boot choke on his downed opponent while arguing with the ref. The advantage continues to change hands, until Lyon goes for a bodyslam and Destroyer gets out of it with an elbow between the eyes. He then nails a belly to belly suplex and a swinging neckbreaker, but then makes the mistake of trying to work a standing headlock too long. Lyon grabs control with a couple of punches and chops, but the Destroyer roars back with a drop toe hold, a snap mare, and this sets up his crucifix into a roll to get the 1, 2, 3!!
The winner is The Destroyer. Time of fall: 0:13:22
The Destroyer wins the first fall in this match using his signature move. The fans are really behind the former champ and are smelling a title change tonight.
Before we go to the 2nd fall we have a special interview to show.
Interview: Ron Strong interviews Jeannie Rahib, who after losing a loser leaves town match to Tawney England was called back by Tawney last week to team with her against her sister Corrie, after apparently having changed her evil ways. But it was all a rouse to embarrass her even more, as Tawney turned on her and made it a 3 on 1. However due to a referee ruling and the match's stipulations, Jeannie has won her reinstatement in RCW. In the interview Jeannie throws out a challenge to the champ. She wants a pound of flesh, not just the RCW ladies title. She offers to meet the champ in a non-title strap match with Corrie banned from ringside. Tawney is not there to reply but Ron Strong advises the viewers that based on preliminary talks with RCW matchmaker Marty Goldstein who is very upset at what the England sisters did last week, you can pretty much bet that match will take place next week.
After a one minute break the 2nd fall begins.
Chris Lyon v The Destroyer (2nd fall)
Unlike the last fall this one for the most part belongs to the champion. Not only did a second fall victory look likely for the champ but fans began to worry that the Destroyer would be damaged beyond being able to win in the 3rd fall too. Lyon took a couple opportunities to take the match outside to deliver as much damage as possible. But it was the champ who ended up bloodied after the Destroyer gave him a piledriver on exposed concrete! Back inside the Destroyer went for his crucifix finisher but Lyon held strong and countered by turning it into a Samoan drop. The two continued to battle in and out of the ring as the pace picked up. Lyon tried for a piledriver but Destroyer back dropped him out of it. But when the Destroyer threw Lyon off the ropes he was caught by the champ with a kick to the gut. This was followed up with a quick double legtakedown and into the champ's finisher, Boston crab. Destroyer battled towards the ropes but it was an uphill battle. The former champ is a fighter but he had to worry also about what kind of shape he would be in for the final fall. So he surprised the crowd and submitted.
The winner is Chris Lyon. Time of fall: 0:21:05 Match tied 1 fall each The champion strikes back with a 2nd fall win. One would think that had it been a one fall match, or the deciding fall that The Destroyer would not have given up as easily. Hopefully he has something extra left for the 3rd and deciding fall.
But before we get to the final fall we have a special message from a newcomer to RCW, a huge signing by Marty Goldstein to bring in this legend and true international superstar.
Ray Stevens on videotape; The former star of San Fransisco, California, the AWA, and other territories is coming to River City Wrestling. Stevens says that the fans have every right to boo him when he comes to Winnipeg but he hopes they don't. He says Greg Valentine is no longer a friend of his. The way Valentine has conducted business as of late is not any where near reasonable or civilized. Even at their worst behaviour he says that he and Pat Patterson never sunk that low. There's other guys too running around Winnipeg who need an attitude adjustment, including the television champion Bounty Hunter. Stevens says he is looking forward to his premiere in RCW next week!
We return to the main event for the 3rd and final fall after a one minute break. The fans were a bit subdued after the 2nd fall victory by Lyon, but they come back to their feet when the champ does not wait for the 3rd fall to start before attacking the challenger.
Chris Lyon v The Destroyer (3rd fall) Lyon attacks Destroyer before the bell but the masked man shakes him off and throws him into the corner. The fans cheer as he attacks the champ with a forearm shiver, swinging neckbreaker, and a fireman's carry. The champ makes a couple aborted comeback attempts but the Destroyer seems to have more gas left in the tank and feeds off the vibes of the fans. The two men stand toe to toe in the center of the ring and exchange punches which become slower as both men stagger but stay up. Lyon gathers his energy and tries for a standing dropkick, but Destroyer steps out of the way. Lyon crashes to the mat and when he stands up Destroyer just takes him right back down with the crucifix into a rolling pin, and gets 1, 2, 3!!
Chris Lyon complains about a fast count.
The crowd erupts.
The winner is The Destroyer.
Two-out-of-three-Falls Match: The Destroyer beat Chris Lyon 2 falls to 1: x Destroyer beat Lyon via the Crucifix into a pin in 0:13:22 x Lyon beat Destroyer via the Boston Crab in 0:21:05 x Destroyer beat Lyon via the Crucifix into a pin in 0:24:20 [The Destroyer won the RCW Heavyweight Championship]
The fans give The Destroyer a standing ovation as he accepts the Heavyweight title belt for the 3rd time. Lyon is quite distraught, holding his head in his hands, pounding the mat, and kicking the bottom rope repeatedly. The Destroyer offers a handshake to Lyon but the former champ just waves him off and leaves the ring in anger.
That's it for another edition of River City Wrestling. Next week is an off week but RCW will be back in 2 weeks time with the premiere of Ray Stevens, a strap match between Jeannie Rahib and Tawney England, and the crowning of a new #1 contender for the heavyweight crown.

So what was happening in the world during May 1983?? At the box office…
Flashdance held onto the top spot holding off new releases Doctor Detroit, Cheech & Chong Still Smokin’, and re-issues of Porky’s and Rocky III. Re-issues seemed to be a big deal back then. Flashdance would drop to #3 the following week losing out to new movies, Blue Thunder, and Breathless. And the next week saw a movie I’ve never even heard of take #1, Spacehunter: Adventures in the Forbidden Zone. The last weekend of May however saw the juggernaut known as the Star Wars franchise take over the #1 spot doing over $23 million in business it’s opening weekend, with the newest installment “Return of the Jedi”. That’s more then the top 5 movies of the previous weekend combined.
In the news…
May 24 The U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services declares AIDS the nation's top medical priority.
Music charts…
In Canada…the month opened with “She Blinded Me with Science” by Tomas Dolby, “Beat It” by Michael Jackson, and “Let’s Dance” by David Bowie, 1, 2, 3, in Canada, and the month ended with Let’s Dance at #1, Beat It at #2, and Flashdance..what a Feeling by Irene Cara at #3. “Faithfully” by Journey was at #16, “Photograph” by Def Leppard was at #17, and “Every Breath You Take” by the Police premiered at #26. There were no Canadian bands in the top 20, with the Tubes placing highest at #22 with “She’s A Beauty”.
In sports…
NCAA Basketball saw the completion of one of the greatest Cinderella stories of all time as Jim Valvano leads the North Carolina St. Wolfpack to a victory over the Houston Cougars who were led by Akeem Olajuwon and Clyde Drexler. This is how the Sporting News describes the final. “Whittenburg took care of that deficit with two jumpers from well beyond the ACC's 3-point distance, tying the score at 52-52 with 1:59 to play. Valvano motioned his players to foul Franklin. The freshman promptly missed the front end of a one-and-one. Suddenly, the game was N.C. State's to win. It held the ball until the final seconds, hoping to free Whittenburg for an open jump shot. But a pass from Bailey was high, and Drexler managed to slap the ball away. Whittenburg grabbed the ball on the first bounce but was left with a desperation heave of about 30 feet. The shot was short, very short. Olajuwon did not react to the ball, but Lorenzo Charles, a 6-7 sophomore forward who had spent a frustrating night trying to battle the towering center, slid down the lane. "I knew when Whit let the shot go that it was short," Charles said. "I didn't know where Akeem was, just that he was behind me. I knew I was the closest one to the basketball. "I just went up and dunked it." Actually, he caught the ball in midair and slammed it through with one second remaining. Remarkably, ironically, N.C. State won the game and the championship, 54-52, on a dunk. “
Candian horse Sunny’s Halo won the Kentucky Derby.
Wimbledon Tennis saw John McEnroe win after having lost to Jimmy Connors the year before.

[glow=red,2,300]May 14, 1983 River City Wrestling #98 Winnipeg Convention Cente, Winnipeg, MB[/glow] We are welcomed by the hosts Ron Strong & Mike Stone.
We are back after a one week hiatus. Tonight, Ray "the Crippler" Stevens makes his debut in RCW. The Bounty Hunter puts his Television title on the line against Buddy Lane, by virtue of Lane's big victory last show over Adrian Adonis. And the main event will finally see the clash of Greg Valentine and Chris Lyon, but will no longer be for the RCW title, as that is now held by the Destroyer. But tonight's match-up will be to determine a new #1 contender. Opening Bout: Ray "the Crippler" Stevens, 247 lbs., San Fransisco, CA v Nacho Berrera, 265 lbs., Mexico
Squash match
Ray Stevens pinned Nacho Berrera after a top-rope Splash Mountain in 0:02:20.
Fairly easy victory for Ray Stevens in his RCW debut. Might take fans of Winnipeg a while to get used to cheering for the crippler though.
Post-Match: Ray Stevens cuts another promo basically rehashing his video statement of two weeks ago. He wants to curb the enthusiasm of his former friend Greg Valentine and wants a shot at the television title held by Bounty Hunter.
Ron Strong reminds fans that Stevens is the man who defeated Bruno Sammartino in a 2 out of 3 falls match in California. His credentials are impeccable.
Bout #2: Kerry Brown, 240 lbs., Winnipeg, Manitoba v Kenny Ho, (/w Shiek Fal-Had), 203 lbs., Vancouver, BC Most of this match was even, the lead going back and forth. Brown survived a figure-four but the damage was done. A waistlock suplex got Ho a 2 count, and then another turn with a figure-four on Brown but was too close to the ropes. Brown managed one final comeback but when he went for a spinebuster slam Ho countered with an elbowsmash and a kick to the gut. Ho then nailed a spin kick, a leg lariat, and then a rolling bodyscissors cradle to get the unpopular 1, 2, 3 !!
Kenny Ho pinned Kerry Brown with the Rolling Bodyscissors Cradle in 0:09:02. Impressive outing for Kenny Ho as he dominated the end of the match.
Backstage Interview: Mike Stone interviews Bonecrusher. His progress has been stalled this year due to injuries, but he's ready to get going again. After helping out the Roughnecks in their feud with the Canadian Kodiaks he says he is getting himself a partner and going after those belts himself.
Bout #3: RCW Television Title Match The Bounty Hunter (champion), 275 lbs., El Paso, Texas v Buddy Lane, 225 lbs., Winnipeg, Manitoba
Fast paced match with Lane getting off to a good start keeping the champ off balance with armdrag takedowns, bac body drops, bodyslams, and snap mares. Lane though went for a baseball slide as Hunter tried to get a breather outside the ring, and missed, wrecking himself outside. Hunter took full advantage getting nearfalls after a spear and a vertical facebuster. Lane fought back, and after getting out of a wristlock he hit the champ with a dropkick and a clothesline for a 2 count. But when Lane went for a monkey flip out of the corner, the champ held onto the ropes and sent Lane backward. As the challenger got to his feet the champ exploded out of the corner with his Western Lariat finisher.
The Bounty Hunter pinned Buddy Lane with the Western Lariat in 0:04:49. [The Bounty Hunter retained the RCW Television Championship.]
Wow, Lane gave him a good run for his money but the champ pulled his finisher out of nowhere to retain the title.
Post-Match: Bounty Hunter goes down to the announce table and grabs a mic. He says he is sick of guys like Bonecrusher and Stevens running their mouths off about how they are going to take away his title. He says he just disposed of the skinny little boy from Winnipeg, and he will do the same to the fat slob from California if he's stupid enough to get in the ring with him.
Main Event #1 Contenders Match Greg Valentine, 243 lbs., Seattle, Washington v Chris Lyon, 236 lbs., Winnipeg, Manitoba
Valentine got off to an early start by attacking Lyon before the opening bell. This makes Lyon mad and the former champ risks a dq by holding onto a chokehold longer then a 4 count. Lyon goes for his finisher early but only gets a half Boston on, so Valentine is able to work his way to the ropes. The match is edited for time on television. Lyon continues to flirt with disqualification by holding onto boot chokes longer then a 4 count and daring the ref to call for the bell. Lyon tries to get his finisher on but Valentine kicks him off, nails a gutwrench suplex and gets 2 count. Valentine takes over the match and beats Lyon from pillar to post, but can't get the 3 count on a submission. Lyon fights back and gets an advantage after a high knee lift. Ref Lynn Powell is distracted by the announce table calling out the time, and Lyon capitalizes with a low blow, which would have been an automatic DQ if seen by the ref. Lyon nails a piledriver and gets the 1, 2 Kickout! Lyon nails a kneebreaker but when he goes for a second, Valentine gets out of it with an elbowsmash to the head. Valentine nails a back suplex and then puts a sleeperhold on. Lyon reaches the ropes for the break but Valentine goes right back to work with a kneelift, atomic drop, double underhook suplex, a spinning elbowdrop, and he makes the cover and gets 1, 2, 3!!
Chris Lyon complains about a fast count.
The winner is Greg Valentine.
Greg Valentine pinned Chris Lyon after a spinning elbowdrop in 0:18:01. [approximately 12 minutes shown on TV]
That's it for another edition of River City Wrestling, see you next week!!

Good debut for Stevens. Wonder how long this nice guy image will stick for him. He's generally not a nice guy.
Bounty Hunter is a guy who seems to get lost in the shuffle from time to time despite being TV champ. Good to see him stand up for himself a little tonight and show he wants to be dominant.
Glad to see Valentine win the main event. I like Lyon, but Destroyer/Valentine is a fresh match up top. Looking forward to the title match.

I was hoping for a longer reign for Lyon, but it's never bad to have the title on the Destroyer. I was a bit surprised that Valentine went over Lyon in the #1 contenders match, but you probably don't want to be jobbing Lyon over and over again to the Destroyer.

Thanks for the comments guys. I've read some of the new stuff on the board, just don't have much time to reply this week. Going to post another card just to keep my momentum going, and hope to be more active next week.
Lyon has better days ahead, but although guys like Destroyer and Lyon were our bread and butter, our heart and soul, we still couldn't in good conscience have world class wrestlers like Valentine do outright jobs for them. It just wouldn't fly for me back then.

[glow=red,2,300]May 21, 1983 River City Wrestling #99 Winnipeg Convention Cente, Winnipeg, MB[/glow] We are welcomed by the hosts Ron Strong & Mike Stone.
Our first match of the night features two winners from last week. The winner of this match will indeed get a shot at the RCW Television title held by the Bounty Hunter. Opening Bout: Ray Stevens, 247 lbs., San Fransisco, CA v Kenny Ho, (/w Shiek Fal-Had), 203 lbs., Vancouver, BC
Kenny Ho tries all the stereotypical sneaky-Asian type things that were prevalent at the time, but Stevens was the better wrestler. Stevens also used an exchange outside the ring to really punish Ho, and get a solid lick in on Fal-Had while he was there. Stevens' finishing sequence involved a backbreaker, and spinning elbowdrop before he climbed to the top rope for the knee drop.
The winner is Ray Stevens.
Ray Stevens pinned Kenny Ho with the Bombs Away in 0:05:51.
Post-Match: Ron Strong climbs into the ring to interview the winner Ray Stevens. The veteran takes an opportunity to take a shot at the rival AWA, by thanking the RCW for allowing him to come off the top rope without getting disqualified. Stevens says there it would make him a villian. Here he is the next television champion when he beats the Bounty Hunter next week!
Bout #2: Bonecrusher & Buddy Lane, combined weight of 465 lbs. v Cuban & Iranian Assassins, combined weight of 486 lbs.
Lane and 'crusher are both very competent wrestlers, and one on one could probably best their opponents, but it was their first time tagging together. In the end it was the cohesiveness of the Assassins that made the difference.
The Cuban Assassin and The Iranian Assassin defeated Bonecrusher and Buddy Lane when The Cuban pinned Lane after a piledriver in 0:08:23.
Post-Match: The Assassins get interviewed by Ron Strong. Neither one of them speaks passable English so they just rant, kick and spit for about a minute before Strong cuts the interview short.
Bout #3: Non-title match Indian Strap Match Corrie England banned from ringside Tawney England, Winnipeg, Manitoba v Jeannie Rahib, Toronto, Ontario Very strange to see the fans cheer for someone from T.O. instead of their hometown, but they love Rahib and are sick of the shenanighans of the England sisters. Rahib has about 2 inches of height and 40 pounds of weight advantage, which is more prononuced when tied together by a leather strap. England's usual heel tactics are also muted in this match as she is on a short leash, and without the aid of her sister. The champion though gets a few good licks in with the strap, but the start of the match, and the end belong to the challenger Rahib. By the end of the match England is in a fetal position as Rahib wails away at her with the lether strap. This causes referee George Gadasky to step in and call for the bell, awarding the match to Rahib. Jeannie Rahib defeated Tawney England by referee's decision at 6:41 in an Indian Strap Match.
Main Event RCW Heavyweight Championship Match 60-minute time limit
The Destroyer (champion), 252 lbs., parts unknown v Greg Valentine (#1 challenger), 243 lbs., Seattle Washington
Valentine charges right of the gate, but soon the champ has the advantage and is methodically working away at Valentine when the match is clipped forward for TV time constraints. When we pick it up again Destroyer is still working on Valentine but moves like a vertical suplex, and a backdrop are not going to finish off Destroyer so the champ is not going for pin attempts yet. Valentine finally gets a sustatined advantage and goes right to the knee of the Destroyer, working it for a figure-four finisher down the line. But before he can try that the champ mounts a comeback, and next time Valentine is able to take back the momentum he has to do so with kicks and punches, and not working over the knee right away. Valentine tosses the champ out of the ring, and when he comes back nails a vertical suplex, and puts him in a sleeperhold. This is unexpected and catches the champ by surprise but he manages to get to the ropes. The challenger then nails him with a double underhook suplex, and then locks in the figure-four. The fans are on edge and screaming their encouragement as their hero very slowly makes his way to the ropes, after a full minute in the hold. Valentine is frustrated and wastes time complaining to the ref and jawing at the fans as Destroyer tests to see if his leg will hold his weight. Valentine whips Destroyer into the turnbuckle as the champ's leg gives out and he crashes awkwardly into the buckle. The challenger charges in after him but the champ moves out of the way. Destroyer hits Valentine with an elbow, but the veteran challenger kicks him in the weakened knee, then goes to work with a shoulderblock, and a double underhook suplex again. He then goes for a kneelift, but before he can make contact he finds himself on his back as the champ takes him down with a legsweep. Suddenly Valentine shakes off the cobwebs and finds himself locked into a bow and arrow submission. It's too close to the ropes however, and after about 15 seconds Valentine gets the break. But when he gets to his feet the champ immediately goes for his finisher the crucifix into a rolling pin, and gets the 1, 2, KICKOUT! Extremely impressive that Valentine could survive that move, but he seemed to have it scouted and as he felt himself being rolled he did his best to use his momentum to work his way out of the pinning predicament. Destroyer though continues the attack with a snap mare, forearm smash and then a release German suplex. Valentine is holding his back in excrutiating agony, and the fans are on their feet in support as the champ delivers a pounding bodyslam, a German suplex and then goes for the pin. He gets 1, 2, Valentine drapes his foot over the bottom rope, 3 !! Referee Lynn Powell raises the arm of the Destroyer, apparently he did not see the foot on the bottom rope.
The Destroyer pinned Greg Valentine after a German suplex in 0:24:24. [The Destroyer retained the RCW Heavyweight Championship.] [approximately 18 minutes shown on TV]
Post-Match: Greg Valentine is irate at the referee indicating that his foot had been draped over the bottom rope. The Destroyer was about to leave the ring when he saw the confrontation so he stayed to keep an eye on it. As things heated up between the ref and Valentine , The Destroyer attempted to mediate and was rewarded by a low-blow from Valentine and was then put into the figure-four leglock. It took several RCW officials to come down to the ring to break the hold. Officials see to the fallen Destroyer as Valentine gives the title belt a kick out of the ring.
That's it for another edition of River City Wrestling, see you next week!

[glow=red,2,300]May 28, 1983 River City Wrestling #100 Winnipeg Convention Cente, Winnipeg, MB[/glow] We are welcomed by the hosts Ron Strong & Mike Stone. Last week's show ended with The Destroyer beating Greg Valentine after a long hard match. However, as can be shown by a replay, Valentine's foot was actually draped over the bottom rope, a fact that was missed by the referee. Strong tells us that while all referee's decisions are final in the RCW, Valentine has been granted a rematch next week for the RCW Heavyweight title. In the meantime tonight we will see two title matches as the Roughnecks defend the tag team titles agains the Cuban and Iranian Assassin who have once again manoveured themselves into the top challenger position. The other title match will see Ray Stevens try and unseat the Bounty Hunter for the television title.
Opening Bout: Keith Hart, 214 lbs., Calgary, Alberta v Mike Valiant, 234 lbs., New York, NY Joined in progress: Keith Hart was already in big trouble when we joined this match, and Valiant was being very aggressive, in and out of the ring. Any chance that the past couple months had softened this challenger were put to rest in the fans minds. Valiant got near falls after a piledriver, and using a figure-four. However Hart survived and mounted a short comeback with a dragon suplex, shoulderblock, flying headscissors, and a bulldog for a 2 count. Keith Hart kept it coming with a somersault splash for a 2 count, German suplex for a 2 count, top rope splash for a 2 count, but when he went for a short lariat Valiant countered with a hiptoss, a big clothesline, and then locked on the figure four in the middle of the ring to get the submission.
Mike Valiant made Keith Hart submit to a figure-four leglock in 0:12:30. [approximately 6 minutes shown on TV]
Post-Match: Mike Stone congratulates Mike Valiant on his big win, but Valiant actually downplays it as no big deal against the "hapless" Hart. However, Valiant says he is back in title contention and wants one more shot. He says the usual, no one is going to stop me spiel, Valentine, Lyon, or the Destroyer. Says he is going to take the title back to New York City where he will party at Times Square.
Bout #2: Tanya Tataryn beat Shelly Salter by pinfall after a schoolgirl pin at 4:17. Post-Match: Salter being a poor loser took the opportunity to clothesline Tataryn from behind, knocking her out, before leaving the ring. Bout #3: RCW Tag Team Title Match The Roughnecks (Stan Rodgers & Russel Riggs) (champions), combined weight of 555 lbs. v The Cuban & Iranian Assassin, combined weight of 486 lbs.
Not exactly a mat classic. One big brawl inside and outside of the ring. The Assassins actually controlled a big chunch of this match and Cuban Assassin in particular came away looking strong. However in the end Stan Rodgers showed his natural strength in his comeback.
The Roughnecks defeated The Cuban Assassin and The Iranian Assassin when Stan Rodgers pinned The Cuban with the Piledriver in 0:08:04. [The Roughnecks retained the RCW Tag Team Championships.]
In-ring Interview: Ron Strong is in the ring with RCW matchmaker Marty Goldstein as well as Greg "the hammer" Valentine.
Goldstein] As you know Ron, and as the fans know, The Destroyer beat this man, Greg Valentine last week to retain his RCW Heavyweight title.
The fans cheer the name of the Destroyer.
Goldstein] However, it was clear on the replay that Valentine's foot was draped over the bottom rope. Therefore, as we already know Valentine will be granted another title shot next week.
Valentine] Now hang on there a second Goldstein. You can give me as many title shots as you want...a title shot, is not the same thing as a title chance.
Strong] What is that supposed to mean?
Valentine] I would think it would be obvious if your hearing and brain weren't permanently damaged from the cold up here in Winnipeg. I don't stand a chance of winning the title when Goldstein and the other RCW officials don't want me to, and will do anything in their power to stop me from holding that title. I mean , come on. First Chris Lyon, and now the Destroyer. If things were on the up and up in this backwoods fed then I would have already had the title. I am a world class wrestler, a champion amongst men. A man amongst boys.
Goldstein] You've had every fair chance in River City Valentine, it's not...
Valentine] ...yeah just like last week? I tell you what Goldstein, you want it to be fair? Then let me assign the special guest referee for next week's match.
Goldstein] No way! Your just going to get one of your cronies to help you cheat to the title. I will pick the referee for next week, and if you don't like it, you can pack your bags and leave.
Valentine] Maybe I'll just do that then.
The crowd first cheers the news that Valentine may leave, but then cheer even louder when the Destroyer is spotted walking down to the ring, wearing jeans, red Converse sneakers, a "Journey" t-shirt, and his ever present white and black mask.
Strong] Ladies and gentlemen, your River City champion, The Destroyer !!!
Destroyer] Thank you fans, and than you Mr. Strong. Now, Mr. Goldstein with all due respect sir, I want this title I hold to mean something, not just for our fans but for fans around the world. I want the best talent in the world to come to River City and compete, and I certainly don't want anyone to get the impression that we hide this title under a bushell. So, I would willingly accept a mutually agreed upon official for next week's bout. So, Valentine who do you have in mind?
Valentine] How about my former tag team partner, Ray "the Crippler" Stevens?
The fans cheer the mention of the crippler, and the Destroyer takes a step back, measuring the crowd's response but looking somewhat hesitant.
Valentine] What's the matter Destroyer? You got a yellow streak down your back to go along with the streak down your mask?
Destroyer] I'm not sure I can trust Stevens yet to be impartial.
The crowd cheers now as they see Ray Stevens hurrying down to the ring to join the interview.
Strong] Speak of the devil himself...
Stevens] Thanks gentlemen for the invitation, but I'm really not interested. I have my own agenda, and it consists of first beating the Bounty Hunter for the television gold, and then taking that gold from you Destroyer. I can assure everyone that I no longer have any association with scum like Valentine. If you don't want to believe that Destroyer that's fine, I could care less, because frankly I don't want any part of this.
Valentine] I was afraid something like this might happen. That's why I have a back-up plan. I have contacted another man who would be interested in coming up to Winnipeg to be the referee next week. He is Stevens' good friend Pat Patterson!!
The fans cheer and then boo the name Patterson.
Valentine] What do you have to say about that choice?
Destroyer looks to Stevens to speak.
Stevens] Like I said, I could care less what goes on between you two guys, but I'll tell you one thing, Pat Patterson is one of the most dangerous men alive. We fought up and down California for years, sometimes the best of friends, sometimes the worst of enemies...never anything in between. Destroyer if you think you can't trust me, then you certainly can't trust Patterson. But then again, Valentine if you think you can trust Patterson then you will be at the disadvantage because you won't be expecting it when he strikes back at you.
Destroyer] Enough talk. It's settled then..I will accept. Next week Valentine, me and you, with Patterson as the special guest referee. If that is all right with you Mr. Goldstein.
Goldstein] I would rather not sanction this match for the Heavyweight title, but Destroyer I respect your right to defend your title, so it's on.
MAIN EVENT RCW Television Title Match The Bounty Hunter (champion), 275 lbs., El Paso, Texas v Ray Stevens, 247 lbs., San Fransisco, California
Bounty Hunter starts strong with punches and kicks, tosses Stevens out of the ring, and then back inside nails him with a Cobra Clutch suplex but does not attempt a pin yet. Stevens makes a very short comeback attempt before the champ reasserts his size dominance with a big clothesline. Stevens goes to work on the back of the champ when he gets the chance and works a backbreaker and a surfboard to that effect. In fact the champ spends almost a minute in the surfboard before getting a ropes break. The two go toe to toe inside the ring, and when it spills outside the champ probably saves his title when he counters a piledriver attempt with a backdrop. The two continue to brawl outside the ring and in a move contradictory to his experience Stevens ignores the referee's count and whips Hunter into the guardrail a couple of times before both men are counted out.
The verdict: A DOUBLE COUNTOUT !
Ray Stevens and The Bounty Hunter battled to a double countout in 0:09:24. [The Bounty Hunter retained the RCW Television Championship.]
The two men continue to brawl outside the ring, but we're out of time, that's it for another edition of River City Wrestling, see you next week!!

Still don't think Ray Stevens can be trusted... don't see Destroyer losing the gold next week, but I can see him getting the holy hell kicked out of him.

[glow=red,2,300]June 4, 1983 River City Wrestling #101 Winnipeg Convention Cente, Winnipeg, MB[/glow] We are welcomed by the hosts Ron Strong & Mike Stone. This week's main event will feature the re-match as Greg "the Hammer" Valentine takes on The Destroyer for the RCW Heavyweight title, with special guest referee Pat Patterson. But we will start things off tonight with a RCW Women's championship match. The challenger Jeannie Rahib has come back from purgatory, or rather from losing a loser-leaves-town match to win the chance tonight by beating the champ in an Indian Strap Match a couple weeks back. Can Tawney England hold onto her title tonight? Opening Bout RCW Women's Championship Match Tawney England (champion) (/w Corrie England), Winnipeg, Manitoba v Jeannie Rahib, Toronto, Ontario
This match was a complete catfight with referee George Gadasky struggling to keep some semblence of control. Once again Corrie England became too involved in the match for the liking of Gadasky who banished her from ringside. But before that could occur Corrie had passed her sister a pair of brass knux which she hid in her bosom, and then used on Jeannie when the ref was distracted. This brought out Tanya Tataryn to complain to the ref who stopped the count. Corrie came out again from the back and attacked Tanya, pulling her off the apron. Jeannie was able to have time to recover because Gadasky was grilling Tawney about the brass knux but could not take her up on her offer to stick his hand down her cleavage to check on them. Then Tawney was distracted by the fight outside the ring between Corrie and Tataryn. By the time she turned around Rahib struck with an inside cradle and got 1, 2, kickout!! Both women scramble to their feet, England goes for the roll-up, but Rahib counters and uses her extra 20-25 pounds to roll her over for the pin attempt, but only got a 2 count. Back on their feet, England goes for a suplex but its blocked by Rahib who counters with a snap suplex of her own. England gets to her feet, groggy, while Corrie having disposed of Tataryn jumps onto the ring apron. Rahib whips Tawney into Corrie knocking her off the ring apron, and the fans sense what is about to happen and are on their feet cheering. Jeannie takes Tawney down with a back suplex and gets the 1..2..3... new champion!!! Jeannie Rahib defeats Tawney England by pinfall after a back suplex at 7:10 [Jeannie Rahib wins the RCW Women's Title]
Interview: Rahib celebrates her new title in the ring and accepts congratulations from Tataryn who stays to watch her back. Rahib is ecstatic and the fans are appreciative that she has found a way to stay in RCW and to take the title from the hated England sisters. Bout #2 Bonecrusher, 240 lbs., Reno, Nevada v Tom "Rocky" Stone, 242 lbs.
Squash match
Bonecrusher made Tom Stone submit to the Bearhug in 0:02:39.
Backstage Interview: Ron Strong interviews Ray Stevens. Basically Stevens says that Destroyer can't trust Patterson, but neither can Valentine. He promises to keep an eye on the main event tonight and will be on hand if he is needed. As for the Bounty Hunter, their match ended with a double countout, but he vows next time he will take the television title.
Bout #3: Chris Pepper & J.D. Miller, combined weight of 428 lbs. v Cuban & Iranian Assassin, combined weight of 486 lbs.
The Assassins executed their plan to a tee. They started by bullying the smaller Miller, in and out of the ring, and isolating the more experienced Pepper on the apron. When Pepper finally got tagged in the Assassins double teamed him and Miller was in no shape to resist. They easily finished off Pepper.
The Cuban Assassin and The Iranian Assassin defeated Chris Pepper and J.D. Miller when The Cuban pinned Pepper after a piledriver in 0:05:34.
Backstage Interview: Mike Stone interviews former RCW champion Chris Lyon. He is fairly tight lipped, which is unusual for him, but he is seething with hatred. Says he will bide his time for the Valentine - Destroyer winner and then will take back his title. Says he has a surprise in store for RCW, a new, added advantage that will put him back on top again.
Promo; the great Wrestling Summit, a night of matches with wrestlers from River City Wrestling, the National Wrestling Alliance, Stampede Wrestling, and Maple Leaf Wrestling. Coming to the Winnipeg Arena, August 1983 !!!
MAIN EVENT RCW Heavyweight Title Match with Special Guest Referee Pat Patterson 60-minute time limit The Destroyer (champion), 252 lbs., parts unknown v Greg "the Hammer" Valentine, 243 lbs., Seattle, Washington
A series of misses and counters starts the match as both men show they know their way around the ring. Destroyer grabs the first sustained advantage and gets a couple of near falls. Valentine fights back with a low-tec attack style of kicks and punches, but Destroyer retains the advantage and gets an eyelash away from a win after a waistlock suplex. Destroyer got into Pat Patterson's face after the pin attempt telling him his count was too slow. The announcers made the point that it was not obviously too slow and maybe Destroyer is getting psyched out thinking Patterson might not be objective. Pat Patterson warns the Destroyer to back off. Destroyer continues the assault on Valentine with an atomic drop, swinging neckbreaker and then a submission attempt with a short arm scissors. Destroyer nails a backbreaker and then a bow and arrow submission but Valentine quickly gets to the ropes for a break. The announce crew make the point that the Destroyer does not seem to be his methodical self, that he is changing his attack plan too quickly to finish off Valentine. He is showing a lack of patience with his repetoire and the ref. The champ continues the attack with an armbreaker, dropkick, and an armwringer. Valentine punches at Destroyer who returns the favor. Pat Patterson then steps in and forces Destroyer to take a step back and warns both men about the closed fists. He seems to give Valentine a few extra seconds to recover though by checking on him. It seems to help Valentine and after a couple exchanges the challenger gains the momentum and puts the champ into a sleeperhold. Destroyer though makes the ropes. Valentine does not break clean though and kicks Destroyer and then delivers a punch to the head. The champ fires back with a punch of his own, only to have Patterson once again step in and warn about the closed fist, but this time he only warns the champ. Ray Stevens comes down to ringside. Valentine now takes over the match thanks in part to a low blow which Patterson was out of position on, and then a chop to the throat which Patterson missed because he was dealing with Stevens who had jumped on the apron to complain about the missed low blow. The Destroyer locks Greg Valentine in a headscissors submission. Greg Valentine tries to escape the hold. Greg Valentine reaches the ropes after being trapped for 6 seconds. The Destroyer hits Greg Valentine with a backdrop. The Destroyer takes Greg Valentine down with a waistlock suplex. Pat Patterson counts: One........two......... kickout. The Destroyer complains about a slow count. Pat Patterson jabs him with a finger to the chest and warns him to be quiet. Ray Stevens pounds on the ring apron and yells at Patterson. Pat Patterson leaves the ring to argue with Ray Stevens. The Destroyer uses a hiptoss on Greg Valentine. The Destroyer catches Greg Valentine in a headscissors submission. Greg Valentine reaches the ropes after being trapped for 5 seconds. The Destroyer breaks the hold even though no referee is present. The Destroyer whips Greg Valentine into the ropes, but Greg Valentine reverses it. The Destroyer uses a swinging neckbreaker on Greg Valentine. The Destroyer executes the Crucifix into a pin on Greg Valentine. There is no referee to count. Ray Stevens tries to slide into the ring to count. Pat Patterson pulls him out of the ring. Pat Patterson is back on duty. Pat Patterson counts: One, two, thr... shoulder up. Destroyer tries one submission after another, but each time Valentine is able to reach the ropes, but he is looking very worn down. Destroyer puts a headscissors submission on and works it for a full minute as Valentine tries to reach the ropes, and then stops. Patterson raises his hand and lets it drop, once, twice, three times, four times... Patterson slaps Destroyer on the back and calls for the break, saying the move is a chokehold! Destroyer doesn't break at first but when Patterson starts counting a very fast 5 count the masked champ releases the legitimate hold. Ray Stevens and the fans are going nuts, jumping up and down. Destroyer sticks to his submission attempts with another bow and arrow and then an abdominal stretch but Valentine is able to reach the ropes to break them both. No problem though as the champ gets the flying crucifix finisher on and rolls it into a pin, for 1, 2, Pat Patterson runs his hand underneath the shoulder of Valentine, wedging it between the mat and the shoulder. Pat Patterson rules the shoulder is up, calls for the break. Ray Stevens jumps onto the apron. Pat Patterson nails Ray Stevens with a forearm smash. The Destoyer ignores Patterson and punches Valentine in the head, then kicks him. The champ comes off the ropes...and Patterson sticks out his foot and trips the champ to the ground! Valentine uses a bodyslam, knee breaker, kneelift, atomic drop, and a double underhook suplex on the champ to take complete control. Ray Stevens is frustrated so he tries to throw a steel chair into the ring for the champ, but Valentine intercepts it and nails Destroyer in the head with it while Patterson turns his back to deal with Stevens. Pat Patterson counts 1, 2, Ray Stevens is in the ring to break the count and Pat Patterson calls for the DQ.
Greg Valentine defeated The Destroyer by disqualification in 0:16:08. [The Destroyer retained the RCW Heavyweight Championship.]
Post-Match: As can be expected a four man brawl errupted after the match with Patterson and Valentine squaring off against Stevens and Destroyer. They continued to duke it out as we ran out of time.
That's it for another edition of River City Wrestling, see you next week!!
notes; Recent contract stuff: Stan Rodgers and Russel Riggs re-signed for 12 weeks recently. Bonecrusher was re-signed for 6 weeks recently. Iranian Assassin is moving on. The Canadian Kodiaks, Bear & Claw are also moving on. By the way, these were real Indy guys from that time period, as cheesy as the name may be. Keith Hart re-signed for 6 weeks back in May. Cuban Assassin re-signed for 6 weeks back in May. Kenny Ho is gone, but may be brought back as a manager in the future.

River City Wrestling #102 Winnipeg Convention Cente, Winnipeg, MB We are welcomed by the hosts Ron Strong & Mike Stone. Tonight we have a tag team extravaganza, with four tag team matches scheduled for the show. The main event will feature the fallout from last week's main event, as RCW champion The Destroyer teams up with Ray Stevens, to take on the duo of Greg Valentine and Pat Patterson. If Patterson and Valentine win that match then Valentine will be granted another title shot at the Destroyer. Opening Bout: Women's Tag Team Match Jeannie Rahib & Tanya Tataryn v Tawney & Corrie England The RCW Women's champ Rahib was a house of fire in this match, but Tataryn was at times a weak link. However, Tataryn managed to survive after playing Ricky Morton for a couple minutes and get the hot tag to Rahib who proceeded to clean house. Just after she nailed Corrie with a spinebuster, and with Tawney knocked out of the ring, she went for the pin. But before she could get the pin a newcomer entered the ring and pulled her off by the hair. The newcomer had already pulled Tataryn off the ring apron and tossed her into the guardrail. She now nailed Sahib with a swinging neckbreaker. Jeannie Rahib & Tanya Tataryn defeated the England Sisters by disqualification for outside interference at 6:24. Post-Match: The newcomer left the ring area and went to grab the mic from the announce table. She announced that she was Judy Martin, a real professional wrestler of the top caliber, not like these third string hacks RCW has been presenting. She says she is here to take the belt away from Rahib, and that she vows it will take less then a month.

Post-Match: Kerry Brown was helped to his feet by his tag team partner for tonight Buddy Lane. Brown was mad though, asking Lane where he was and why he hadn't helped him. Lane indicated that he was stuck in the corner waiting the tag. As Lane climbed through the ropes to leave, Brown heaved up on the middle rope, crotching Lane. Brown then dragged him back into the ring and proceded to beat the tar out of him until he was rescued by RCW officials.
Pre-Match: RCW matchmaker Marty Goldstein comes to the ring. He calls out Chris Lyon and Mike Valiant. While they both come down to the ring to a chorus of boos, the two former friends can barely stand to look at each other. That point is not lost to Goldstein, however he asks them to put aside their differences for a bit. He says that the current tag champions the Roughnecks (the fans cheer) do not have a very long list of potential opponents at this time. Goldstein says that because Lyon vacated the belts, they never lost them, and if they were willing to give it another try he would grant them a title shot tonight. Valiant is the first to say to Goldstein that he'll do it if Lyon does, to which Lyon just nods. Goldstein wishes them well. Opening Bout: Buddy Lane v Kerry Brown This match was set up last week when after losing a tag match together, Brown attacked his partner Lane and gave him a beatdown. Tonight's match began with Lane uncharacteristically attacking Brown before the bell. The match spilled outside but a brawl favored the rough and tumble Brown who took over the match. It wasn't until after surviving some near falls that Lane reverted to who brought him to the dance, out wrestling his opponent. A series of flying armdrags, dropkicks and a swinging neckbreaker had victory all but assured for Lane. However, Brown popped the referee to cause the DQ intentionally. Buddy Lane defeated Kerry Brown by disqualification after hitting the referee at 8:51 Post-match: Brown attacked the knee of Lane wrapping it around the ringpost and slamming it several times. He continued his assault until RCW officials were able to make it to the ring and break it up.

Bout #2: Ladie's Action Tanya Tataryn v Judy Martin The veteran Martin came to the ring with a chip on her shoulder. She didn't even take off her warm up jacket, going straight to work on Tataryn with some stiff uppercuts. A hard biel from the corner, followed by a legdrop set up a powerbomb finish. Judy Martin defeated Tanya Tataryn by pinfall after a powerbomb at 1:43
Promo for the release of "Superman III" starring Christopher Reeve and Richard Pryor.
Bout #3: RCW Television Title Match The Bounty Hunter (champion) v Ray Stevens This was a re-match from a couple weeks back when these two battled to a double countout. Stevens had the better of the 275 pound Texan through much of the match but was having trouble putting him away. When he climbed to the top rope for the bombs away his title chances evaporated when Pat Patterson ran down to the ring and threw him off the top turnbuckle, causing our second intentional DQ of the night. Ray Stevens defeated Bounty Hunter by disqualification due to outside interference by Pat Patterson at 7:05. [Bounty Hunter retains the RCW Television title] Post-Match: The two on one beatdown was on, but lasted only moments before RCW champion the Destroyer came down to the ring to even the odds. He and Stevens sent Bounty Hunter and Patterson running for the hills.
Main Event #1 Contenders Match, winner to get an RCW Title shot Mike Valiant v Chris Lyon Before the match can begin, "No One Like You" by the Scorpions play and the fans boo as Tawney and Corrie England make their way down to the ring. The fans chant "boot, boot, boot" at Tawney and "Scag, scag, scag" at Corrie. They are dressed in skin tight jeans and concert shirts. Entering the ring they go to the side of Chris Lyon. Lyon has a mic. He tells the crowd that he promised them a surprise that would tip the scales of power here in RCW and bring the title back to his waist from the Destroyer. Well he has acquired the services of the England sisters to be his managers. With them at his side he says he will be unstoppable. However, he tells Valiant that there is still time for him to join "the young lions" and take his place in RCW history. All he has to do is walk away, and give the title shot to Lyon. In return he will get the services of one of the England sisters, Corrie. Valiant takes a few seconds to think about it well the crowd chants "boot", before telling Lyon that he is an egotistical maniac, and the only way he will see the RCW heavyweight title again is if he or the Destroyer shoves it down his throat. Corrie slips behind Valiant and Tawney pushes him over in a schoolyard move. Lyon attacks Valiant and the match is on. These two have met many times and the action is always brutal and non-stop, in and out of the ring. Referee George Gadasky bans the England sisters from ringside sending them to the back. However, while he is distracted doing that Lyon rams Valiant head first into the ringpost and then jumps off the ring apron, smashing him in the lower back with the ring bell. Back in the ring Lyon continues to press the advantage. He gets his Boston crab finisher on but is too close to the ropes so Valiant manages to make the break. Valiant has a couple short bursts of offense, even getting his figure-four finisher on at one point, but was so weakened that Lyon managed to turn him over and reverse the pressure. Lyon continued to work over the lower back of Valiant and also would return time and time again to raking and gouging the eyes of his former friend. By the end of the match Valiant lived up to his surname continuing to fight Lyon despite not being able to even get to his feet because of the pain in his lower back. Lyon punished Valiant further by dropping a knee to the lower back from the top rope, and then slapped on the Boston crab in the middle of the ring. Valiant had no choice but to tap out after about 20 seconds in the hold. Chris Lyon defeated Mike Valiant by submission with the Boston crab at 14:10. [Chris Lyon is the #1 contender for the RCW Heavyweight Title] Post-Match: The England sisters returned to the ring but instead of celebrating with Lyon, while he distracted the ref they went to work on Valiant over top of him like a pack of jackyls. They raked their long nails across his back and choked him. The Destroyer hit the ring and sent the three scurrying, but as the camera panned to Valiant he could be seen bleeding from many nail rakes across the back and was foaming at the mouth after being choked out. The Destroyer was calling for medical help as we faded to black. See ya next week.

River City Wrestling #104 Winnipeg Convention Centre, Winnipeg, MB We are welcomed by the hosts Ron Strong & Mike Stone. Opening Bout: Keith Hart & J.D. Miller, combined weight of 412 pounds V Rob Flett & Neil Sutherland, combined weight of 430 pounds Flett and Sutherland are new to the territory and have the look of young rookies. They are native Canadians, but do not use any of the stereotypical ring attire or gimmicks to associate themselves with their ethnicity. Instead they very much look like a couple of greasy headbangers. Keith Hart had very little trouble staying with the fast pace that Flett and Sutherland set, but Miller fell prey to some double-teaming and proved to be the weak link in the match. The end came when Flett climbed to the top rope, with Sutherland holding Miller’s hands behind his back, and the referee distracted keeping Hart from entering the ring. Flett jumped down with a chop right between the eyes of Miller to knock him out and get the pin. Rob Flett & Neil Sutherland defeated Keith Hart & J.D. Miller by pinfall when Flett pinned Miller after a top-rope tomahawk chop at 9:40. Post-Match: Flett and Sutherland are interviewed and throw out the usual challenge to the current champions. They say they are no cigar store Indians here to amuse the crowd, that they are the real deal and will dress and act however they want. Promo for Orion productions "Yellowbeard" coming to movie theatres this weekend. starring Cheech & Chong and many of the crazy guys from Monty Python. "Swashbucklers, pirates, public floggings, saucy tarts, beggars, queens, & jolly rogers."

Greg Valentine goes for a double underhook suplex, but Chris Pepper counters it with a backdrop. Chris Pepper takes Greg Valentine down with a punch. Chris Pepper goes for a wristlock, but Greg Valentine counters it with a lariat. In turn, Chris Pepper counters it with a duck-down move. Greg Valentine throws Chris Pepper out of the ring. Greg Valentine goes through the ropes. Wyatt Hall counts: 1. Greg Valentine executes a double underhook suplex on Chris Pepper. Greg Valentine hits Chris Pepper with a double underhook suplex. Wyatt Hall counts: 2. Greg Valentine reenters the ring. Chris Pepper follows him back in. Greg Valentine is going for the pin. Wyatt Hall counts: One, two, kickout. Greg Valentine executes the Figure-Four Leglock on Chris Pepper. Chris Pepper is valiantly trying to break the hold. Chris Pepper is struggling to reach the ropes. Chris Pepper tries to fight the pain. Chris Pepper submits after 16 seconds. Greg Valentine is starting to get under the crowd's skin. The winner is Greg Valentine. Greg Valentine made Chris Pepper submit to the Figure-Four Leglock in 0:03:59. Promo: "Wrestling Summit" coming to the Winnipeg Arena, August, 1983 Highlights are shown of two of the tremendous wrestlers coming to the Wrestling Summit, set to "For Those About to Rock" by AC/DC. First off we get the madness of Abdullah the Butcher as he battles the Shiek in Detroit, Pampero Firpo in Puerto Rico, and Hercules Ayala in Montreal, including opening up his own forehead with a fork. We finish the highlights with moments from his infamous Indian Death Match at the Winnipeg Arena in 1982 against Tiger Jeet Singh right here in River City Wrestling. The next wrestler that we see highlights of are Jerry Blackwell. We see him fighting the Crusher in the AWA, then Ric Flair in St. Louis, and finally we see him delivering an awesome dropkick on Baron von Raschke despite being almost 500 pounds. Tickets for that great event go on sale Monday morning.
Bout #3 Ray Stevens, 247 pounds, San Fransisco, CA V Pat Patterson, 250 pounds, Montreal, PQ Despite being the fan favorite Stevens attacks his arch-enemy before the bell has even rung, Stevens goes to work with a stomachbreaker, some kneelifts to the gut, and then a front facelock. It’s a coordinated attack aimed at taking away Patterson’s breath, trying to get an early submission. Patterson though counters with a facerake and then goes to work mostly with punches, but also with armdrags, and a firemans carry into a slam. The match spills out of the ring where it turns ugly with Patterson whipping Stevens into the ringpost, then the guardrail and then choking him under the guardrail. Patterson controls most of the match, and holds onto control by distracting the ref and on two occasions delivering a lowblow to Stevens. Patterson also applies, and reapplies the sleeperhold, allowing his forearm to slip down until it is a chokehold. Stevens fights back and gets the sleeperhold onto Patterson but can’t quite finish him. He follows up with a piledriver but still only gets a 2 count. Patterson changes the tone with a thumb to the throat of Stevens, and then applies the sleeperhold again. But Stevens is ready for it, and counters with a jawbreaker. He then delivers a piledriver and climbs to the top turnbuckle for the bombs away. Patterson though decides to grab the ref by the ankle and topple him to the ground right on top of himself, which stops Stevens from jumping. Referee Lynn Powell though calls for the bell. Ray Stevens defeated Pat Patterson by disqualification for abuse of official at 19:05 [approximately 12 minutes shown on television] Roster Report: Ron Strong tells us that Mike Valiant is having some problems with the muscles in his legs and will be resting for a while before returning to the ring. Buddy Lane likewise is day-to-day trying to rehab after being attacked by Kerry Brown after their match. Lane is hoping to avoid surgery on his knee, but only time will tell. Speaking of Kerry Brown, rather then pay a fine levied by the promotion for his cowardly attack on Lane, Brown has left the territory in the middle of the night without saying goodbye to anyone or giving proper notice. In-ring interview: Judy Martin calls out Jeannie Rahib, and this week the RCW Women’s champion is in the building. Martin challenges her, and then starts into her usual I’m a pro, you’re an amateur spiel. Rahib though is not having any of it and grabs the mic from Martin and tells her to bring that attitude of over confidence with her to the ring next week. Rahib though has her hands on the mic, so Martin deftly grabs the title belt off the shoulder of Rahib and clocks her upside the head. Martin says she’ll bring more then her attitude, she’ll bring the Women’s title as well. With that Judy Martin leaves for the back with the title belt in hand. Local news promo; following the story of the US Supreme Court declaring many local abortion restrictions unconstitutional, Sally Ride the first US women astronaught in space aboard the space shuttle challenger, Pope John Paul II meets with Solidarity founder Lech Walesa, and a special report on last week's execution by hanging of 10 women in Shiraz, Iran.
Main Event RCW Heavyweight Title Match The Destroyer (champion), 252 pounds, parts unknown V Chris Lyon, 236 pounds, Winnipeg, Canada (/w Corrie England) The two greatest stars in the 4 year history of the promotion hook up one more time for the promotion’s greatest prize. Lyon makes an awkward lunge at Destroyer who is too agile, and drops down, grabs the wrists of Lyon and monkey flips him head over heels. Destroyer though can’t hold the advantage and this match goes back and forth for a couple minutes until the Destroyer manages to get a bow and arrow submission on Lyon. The challenger though manages to make it to the ropes and returns the favor a minute later by trying to lock in the Boston crab. He has to settle for a half-boston though and that allows Destroyer to reach the ropes after about 20 seconds in the hold. The two continue to battle tooth and nail, and it stays mostly in the middle of the ring which keeps Corrie England out of the equation. However, once it does spill out of the ring the jezebel helps Lyon by attacking Destroyer from behind. This allows Lyon the advantage but can only get a 2 count after a slingshot suplex. Destroyer grabs the advantage again with a bodyslam, vertical suplex, and an armwringer. He then nails Lyon with a pumphandle suplex and goes for the pin. He gets the 1…and suddenly there is someone running into the ring. The newcomer delivers a big boot to the ribs of the champ, causing him to roll over. The big man drops a knee right to the bridge of the Destroyer’s nose, stunning him completely. It’s Big Bad Bobby Duncum!! The Destroyer defeats Chris Lyon by disqualification for outside interference by Bobby Duncum at 16:16. [approximately 10 minutes shown on television] [The Destroyer retains the RCW Heavyweight Championship] Post-Match: Duncum and Lyon high-five and embrace as they are joined first by Corrie England, and then by Tawney England. They pick up the Destroyer and after a big clothesline try to take off his mask. It looks like they might get it off as the Destroyer is sitting down in the ring, Bobby Duncum has his arms immobilized and Lyon is ripping off the mask, but we are out of time. That’s it for another edition of River City Wrestling, see you next week.

River City Wrestling #105 Winnipeg Convention Cente, Winnipeg, MB We are welcomed by the hosts Ron Strong & Mike Stone. Finish from last week's show after we ran out of time;Bobby Duncum charges the ring and attacks the Destroyer, getting Chris Lyon disqualified. Lyon and Duncum go to work on the champ and then begin to unmask him. They have the mask half off when Mike Valiant hit the ring wielding a crutch, obviously his knee still injured. He managed to knock Lyon down but was then delivered a stiff lariat by Duncum. The big Texan went to work on Valiant with a series of boots to the injured knee until Destroyer recovered and rolled up Duncum with a flying crucifix, and then rolled him out of the ring. Destroyer pulled his mask back down and picked up the crutch daring Duncum to come back in the ring. Instead the big Texan distracted the Destroyer while the England sisters who had just come down from the back resuced Chris Lyon pulling him to safety. Duncum and Destroyer point back and forth as the villians retreat. The fans had a hard time believing it but Destroyer and Valiant now appeared to have a common cause; hatred of Chris Lyon. Promo for "Wrestling Summit" featuring "Heat of the Moment" by Asia as background music. Already scheduled to appear, Abdullah the Butcher, The Destroyer, Jerry Blackwell, Chris Lyon, Superstar Billy Graham, The Bounty Hunter, Keith Hart, Bobby Duncum, Angelo Mosca, the Roughnecks, Ray Stevens, Pat Patterson, and Judy Martin. In-ring interview:Ron Strong is interviewing RCW tag team champions the Roughnecks (Stan Rodgers and Russel Riggs) when they are interrupted by Rob Flett & Neil Sutherland. Basically the newcomers challenge the champs to a match, and the champs, being the good guys accept the challenge for an impromptu match. The announcers inform us that it is a non-title match as no contract has been signed. Opening Bout: Non-title Match The Roughnecks (Stan Rodgers & Russel Riggs), combined wt 555 lbs. v Rob Flett & Neil Sutherland, combined wt of 430 lbs. The Roughnecks have very little trouble overpowering their smaller and very green opponents. What little offense the native duo do get in is a result of double teams or illegal moves like a chop to the throat or an eye gouge. However, Chris Lyon makes an appearance at ringside which distracts the ref and the champions. This allows Bobby Duncum to slip into the ring from the other side undetected and deliver a lariat from behind on Riggs and then a bulldog. Duncum and Lyon vacate the area but the damage has been done. Flett holds the arms of Riggs and it allows Sutherland to come off the top rope with a tomahawk right between the eyes of the co-champion. Rodgers is too late in trying to make the save. Flett & Sutherland defeated the Roughnecks by pinfall after a top-rope tomahawk and outside interference at 8:32 Bout #2: RCW Women’s Championship Match Jeannie Rahib (champion), Toronto, ON V Judy Martin, Oakland, California Rahib started strong controlling Martin with several different versions of armlocks, forcing the veteran to scramble to the ropes for a break. Martin turned the match around by nailing Rahib with a back elbow on a break, and then whipped her into the buckle. The veteran slammed her fist into the face of Rahib several times, before driving her shoulder into the gut and chest of the local champion. After bieling her out of the corner she went to work with several kneedrops. The last attempt though saw Rahib roll out of the way. The champ was on her feet and the two exchanged punches and kicks which saw them spill out of the ring. Referee Lynn Powell managed to get them back into the ring, but Martin caught Rahib on re-entry with a knee to the gut. Martin went to work with a clothesline, diving shoulderblock, and a splash from the 2nd rope. She went for a piledriver finish but Rahib managed to backdrop her way out of it. The champ sent the veteran to the ropes, but Martin ducked under a clothesline attempt and then nailed Rahib on the rebound off the ropes with a flying bodypress to get the win. New champion!!! Judy Martin defeated Jeannie Rahib by pinfall after a flying bodypress at 5:41 [Judy Martin wins the RCW Women’s Championship]Promo: The Wrestling Summit is coming to the Winnipeg Arena in August, tickets now on sale. The Cuban Assassin doesn't respond. Wyatt Hall stops the fight after 30 seconds. Bonecrusher has the crowd going wild. The winner is Bonecrusher. Bonecrusher made The Cuban Assassin submit to the Bearhug in 0:06:12. Backstage interview:Ron Strong interviews RCW champion the Destroyer. The champ says he has recovered bodily from the attack last week by Chris Lyon and Bobby Duncum. But he has not recovered his peace yet, and won’t do so until he has made Lyon pay. He says he doesn’t know what Duncum’s game is yet but he suggests he return to Minneapolis or Miami and leave River City before he becomes the Destroyer’s primary target. The champ also says that he had a long talk with Mike Valiant and is really impressed by the change the young man has gone through over the last few months; seeing Chris Lyon as if for the first time. He says he feels Valiant will be a great allie but in the meantime has told Valiant to stay away, and recover fully from his knee injury before returning to action. Lyon and Duncum are dangerous enough when you are 100% but they may be fatal if taken off at less then full throttle. He finishes by challenging Lyon to another match next week. He says he will once again put the title on the line but suggests the match be made a lumberjack match to keep Duncum and anyone else from interfering. All over the world, millions and millions of people still live under tyranny. Their leaders claim that they're the wave of the future, that history is on their side. And yet, their people look to us for hope. Their people look to America as the cradle of freedom, the place where the great civilized ideas of individual liberty, representative government, and the rule of law under God are realities." River City Wrestling #106 Winnipeg Convention Cente, Winnipeg, MB We are welcomed by the hosts Ron Strong & Mike Stone.
Tonight’s main event will see The Destroyer once again putting his title on the line against Chris Lyon. However, tonight’s match will be a lumberjack match, as requested by Destroyer, to keep out the England sisters and Bobby Duncum.
Last week Bobby Duncum made his first appearance in RCW joining Chris Lyon, and the two of them cost the tag champs Roughnecks a non-title loss against Rob Flett and Neil Sutherland. Tonight the tag champs want revenge but with Chris Lyon set to take on the Destroyer, it has to come in the form of a singles match.
Opening Bout: Stan Rodgers (277 lbs., Austin, Tx) V Bobby Duncum (270 lbs., West Texas, USA)
Duncum goes right to work with an armbreaker, some hair pulls to maintain advantage and then a body scissors to try and wear down his fellow Texan. Lariats, a lowblow, and a flying bulldog nailed by Duncum but Rodgers manages to remain alive. Rodgers fights back with forearms and suplexes before the action spills outside. Referee George Gadasky comes out to break up the brawl only to get knocked down by an errant elbow. Duncum seizes the opportunity to grab a steel chair and ~waffle~ Rodgers. He rolls the tag champ back into the ring for what will likely be an easy pin. But before Duncum can re-enter the ring, Russel Riggs the other tag team champ, appears at ringside, grabs the discarded chair and nails Duncum across the back, falling him like a big tree. However, Gadasky saw this chair swing and called for the bell.
Bobby Duncum defeated Stan Rodgers by disqualification due to outside interference in 0:09:06.
Post-Match Interview: The tag team champs are livid. They want Duncum back in the ring, and if it takes putting up the titles then they will do so. They tell Duncum to get himself a partner and next week they will get it on.
Sports Night Promo: USFL Semi-Final action this weekend. Philadelphia Stars v Chicago Blitz in one match-up, and Michigan Panthers take on the Oakland Invaders in the other. The championship game will be played on July 17th in Denver's Mile High Stadium.
While over in the NFL, 4 members of the Dallas Cowboys Harvey Martin, Tony Dorsett, Ron Springs, and Larry Bethea have been involved in discussions with federal authorities after their names surfaced in a cocaine investigation.
Bout #2 Keith Hart (214 lbs., Calgary, Alberta) V Tom Stone (240 lbs.)
Squash match.
Keith Hart made Tom Stone submit to a figure-four leglock in 0:04:18.
Promo: The Wrestling Summit is coming to the Winnipeg Arena, August 1983. Great tickets still available but not for long.
A short interview segment is shown with Dynamite Kid, former British wrestling star, current Stampede wrestling star. Kid says that he is even willing to travel to the hell hole that is Winnipeg to take on another cheating Hart. Dynamite Kid says he is coming to Wrestling Summit and will take on no one else but Keith Hart.
Clips are then shown of some of Dynamite Kid’s matches against the likes of Tiger Mask, Leo Burke, and Davey Smith.
Bout #3:
Women’s Action: Tawney England (Winnipeg, Manitoba) v Tanya Tataryn (Winnipeg, Manitoba)
Tawney has not lost her vicious streak since her and sister Corrie became valets for Chris Lyon. She used a hairplane spin to set up a kneedrop from the top rope right on the stomach to finish off Tataryn.
Tawney England defeated Tanya Tataryn by pinfall after a top rope kneedrop at 3:45
Main Event: RCW Heavyweight Championship Match Lumberjack Match
The Destroyer (champion), 252 pounds, parts unknown V Chris Lyon, 235 pounds, Winnipeg, Manitoba
First couple minutes saw both men wrestling carefully, and countering many of each other’s moves. The champ takes over and is all over Lyon with a swinging neckbreaker and a Samoan drop but can’t put Lyon away. Lyon takes advantage of the situation and muscles Destroyer out of the ring on the rulebreaker side. Pat Patterson, Bounty Hunter, Nacho Berrera, Cuban Assassin, and Tom Stone take liberties with Destroyer until Bonecrusher, J.D. Miller, Keith Hart, Ray Stevens, and Jake Milliman come over and resuce him. Back inside Lyon controls the action. Unable to put the champ away he tries to throw Destroyer back to the rulebreakers, but its reversed and Destroyer sends Lyon out instead to the fan favorites. Inexplicably Lyon decides to try and take everyone on and is punching and kicking for all he’s worth to not have to re-enter the ring. Finally the rulebreakers also joined the fray and we had an 11 man brawl, which obviously acted as a distraction to the ref. Then Big Bad Bobby Duncum came out and things started to look bleaker then ever as Duncum started to pound away at the fan favorites. While this was going on suddenly a new man entered the ring from out of the crowd. The fans went nuts, booing and jeering the very recognizable Angelo Mosca. Mosca attaced Destroyer from behind, giving him a powerbomb. Lyon got back into the ring while Mosca faded away. Lyon locks on the Boston crab but somehow Destroyer managed to survive over a minute in the hold before reaching the ropes. Lyon though wasn’t done and nailed the champ with two successive slingshot suplexes, and the fans were rioting in the aisles as the referee Wyatt Hall laid down the 1, 2, 3, NEW CHAMP!
Chris Lyon pinned The Destroyer after a slingshot suplex in 0:17:48. [Chris Lyon won the RCW Heavyweight Championship]
Post-Match: Chris Lyon, Bobby Duncum, Tawney & Corrie England celebrate their big victory in the ring taunting the crowd.
Circuit notes: Greg Valentine has left RCW, but may return for the Wrestling Summit. Keith Hart has signed on for 6 more weeks. Cuban Assassin has signed on for 6 more weeks. Ray Stevens has signed on for 12 weeks.

River City Wrestling #107 Winnipeg Convention Centre, Winnipeg, MB We are welcomed by the hosts Ron Strong & Mike Stone. We are back afer a one week pre-emption. Opening Bout: Bonecrusher v Nacho Berrera Squash match. Short but powerful 'crusher makes short work of his Mexican opppnent. Bonecrusher defeated Berrera by submission with a bearhug at 3:28 Bout #2 J.D. Miller v Pat Patterson The young Albertan was overmatched against the cagey veteran Patterson in this match. Another squash match. Pat Patterson defeated J.D. Miller by pinfall with a victory roll at 4:01 Bout #3: Non-title Match The Destroyer v The Bounty Hunter Destroyer coming off losing his belt to Chris Lyon is matched up against TV champion Bounty Hunter. While not officially a #1 contenders match you have to think the result will go a long way towards deciding the heavyweight rankings. Bounty Hunter sensing the importance of the match attacks the Destroyer before the opening bell. The big Texan goes to work with a brawling style of attack, keeping the Destroyer nullified. However, he soon loses steam and the Destroyer begins to battle back. The match spills outside the ring where the BH exerts his power again sending the Destroyer head first into the ringsteps. However when he charges the Destroyer for a clothesline, the masked man takes the TV champ down with a droptoe hold that smashes him headfirst into the ringsteps. The Destroyer then comes off the ring apron with a double axhandle smash before taking the match back inside. BH makes one more effort at a comeback but when he telegraphs a back body drop he falls victim to a DDT. The Destroyer then applies a double arm suplex to pick up the win. The Destroyer defeated The Bounty Hunter by pinfall after a double arm suplex at 10:36 Main Event RCW Tag Team Title Match The Roughnecks (Stan Rodgers & Russel Riggs) (champions) v Bobby Duncum & Angelo Mosca (/w Corrie England) Prior to the match Chris Lyon, the England sisters and Duncum introduced Angelo Mosca as their most recent addition to the group. It was Mosca who made an unadvertised run-in last card and cost the Destroyer the heavyweight title to Chris Lyon. This match was power v power, brawling v brawling. Riggs had a harder time standing toe to toe with their opponents then did the bigger Rodgers. However, it became apparent that the Roughnecks were barely hanging on to their titles, especially when you add in some timely interference from Corrie England at ringside. In the end the champs seemed to instigate a 4-way brawl outisde the ring that saw both teams counted out. Double countout at 8:51

River City Wrestling #108 Winnipeg Convention Centre, Winnipeg, MB We are welcomed by the hosts Ron Strong & Mike Stone. Tempers have boiled over, and tonight's main event will see a giant Six Man "Anything Goes, Come as You Are" match with The Destroyer and the Roughnecks taking on Chris Lyon, Angelo Mosca, and Bobby Duncum! Should be a lesson in brutality! Opening Bout: Chris Pepper, 240 lbs. Winnipeg, Manitoba v Cuban Assassin, 231 lbs., Havana, Cuba Pepper gets his chances, but Assassin nails him with a hard spinebuster slam to soften up his back before applying his finisher. The Cuban Assassin defeated Chris Pepper by submission with the Havana Hug at 2:52 Interview: Destroyer is rather philosophical about his loss of the RCW title to Chris Lyon despite the outside interference that made it possible. The Roughnecks are not so forgiving and send a warning to their opponents tonight they will be dressed as they are for the ranch - including spurs, and whatever ranch patties might be stuck to the bottom of their boots.
Promo: Columbia pictures is proud to present Krull, opening in theaters across the continent this weekend. Beyond our time, beyond our universe...there is a planet besieged by alien invaders, where a young king must rescue his love from the clutches of the Beast. Or risk the death of his world.
An indescribable monster and its army (the Slayers) attack the planet Krull. In order to stop the invaders, two hostile nations decide to join their forces by the marriage of Princess Lyssa and Prince Colwyn. During the ceremony, the Slayers attack the palace, kill both kings, wound Colwyn and kidnap Lyssa. The next morning, the wise Ynyr seeks and finds Colwyn. With Ynyr's help, Colwn gains possession of a magic weapon, a five bladed sword, and together they go on their quest for the indescribable monster's black fortress to free Lyssa.
Bout #2: Keith Hart, Calgary, Alberta, 214 lbs. v Red Demon, parts unknown, 207 lbs. We hadn't seen Red Demon before and the fans were expecting a squash. However, it soon became obvious that this Red Demon not only could compete but was also a very dirty wrestler. The action alternated between inside and outside the ring. Hart came off the ropes but Demon ducked under a clothesline attempt, and then nailed Hart with a shoulderblock right to the head. Very vicious looking move. Demon hiptossed Hart to where he wanted him in the ring and then flipped the crowd off. He climbed to the top rope and came down with a falling headbutt to Hart to pick up a surprise win. The Red Demon defeated Keith Hart by pinfall after a falling headbutt from the top rope at 9:45 Post-Match: When Ron Strong went to interview Red Demon about his surprise victory the masked man pulled off his hood to reveal himself as Stampede wrestler Dynamite Kid. He told Hart that this was just a sample of the punishment he was going to receive at Wrestling Summit, so don't show up if you ever want to walk again.
Bout #3: RCW Television Title Match The Bounty Hunter (champion), 275 lbs., El Paso, Texas v Ray "the crippler" Stevens, 247 lbs., San Fransisco, California Bounty Hunter has continued to duck Stevens after getting himself DQ'd in a prior match-up. As you would expect this match is a complete brawl with the action more outside the ring then in. But when it is inside Hunter grabs the advantage witha cobra clutch suplex, followed by a football tackle and then his Western lariat finisher. However, they are too close to the ropes and Stevens survives by draping a foot over the bottom strand. The frustrated champion takes the match back outside and runs Stevens into the steel barriers a couple of times before Stevens strikes back. The challenger is just as vicious as the champ and nails him with a piledriver on the concrete floor. Back inside though the champ manages to kick out at 2. Stevens gets a sleeperhold on the BH but he manages to reach the ropes and stay alive. Stevens is relentless though and slaps on his Boston crab. Again BH reaches the bottom strand to get the break but its obvious he has nothing left in the tank. Stevens takes him to the corner and nails a piledriver. He then climbs to the top turnbuckle for the Bombs Away finisher..but Pat Patterson appears suddenly from the back and throws the challenger off the top. Referee George Gadasky calls for the bell. Ray Stevens defeats Bounty Hunter by disqualification due to outside interference from Pat Patterson at 9:10. [Bounty Hunter retains the RCW Television Title] Post-Match: Stevens isn't that badly hurt so he recovers fast enough to meet Patterson with a knuckle sandwich. Stevens tosses Patterson from the ring and he and the Bounty Hunter take off. Ron Strong enters the ring to interview Ray Stevens. The crippler says he thought this would happen and has already had a meeting with RCW matchmaker Marty Goldstein in case it did. Stevens says that he has a match for the title against Bounty Hunter at Wrestling Summit, and that he has found a way to deal with Pat Patterson. In a match immediately preceeding the Stevens-BH match at Summit, Pat Patterson will be in action against...Abdullah the Butcher!!! Stevens laughs and says he doesn't think that Patterson will be helping anyone out after that match. Promo for Wrestling Summit, clips set to the song "Helter Skelter" by Motley Crue from their album "Shout At the Devil".
Main Event Six Man "Come As You Are, Anything Goes Match" The Destroyer & The Roughnecks (Stan Rodgers & Russel Riggs) v Chris Lyon, Angelo Mosca, & Bobby Duncum Despite it being an "anything goes" match it soon got out of hand with referee Lynn Powell getting knocked out by Angelo Mosca. When RCW sent out replacement officials to try and get order restored they met a similar fate. Rodgers busted Duncum wide open with his boot spur, and Lyon attacked Destroyer with the ring bell, using it to choke him out on the announce table. Mosca and Riggs began to fight into the crowd. Marty Goldstein came down with more officials to break it up, and when that didn't work both dressing room's wrestlers spilled out to join the fray. It was a mess as the show came to an abrupt end with a reminder that Wrestling Summit was coming on this Thursday August 4th. No Contest at 6:40 Wrestling Summit, coming to the Winnipeg Arena, Thursday night August 4th RCW Champion Chris Lyon meets the challenge of a lifetime as he takes on Superstar Billy Graham.... Wrestling Summit
Stars from throughout the wrestling universe have gathered for one night of mayhem. Wrestling Summit may sound diplomatic but nothing could be further from the truth.
August 4th, 1983 - Winnipeg Arena, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada presented by River City Wrestling (RCW # 109) approximate attendence; 4,300
Opening Bout: Iron Mike Sharpe, 250 lbs., Hamilton, Ontario (WWWF) v Bonecrusher, 240 lbs., Reno, Nevada (RCW)
Bonecrusher shows off his unique and compact strength early on as the 5'8 powerhouse locks on a headlock and punishes Sharpe who screams at the ref to make him release the hold. The 'crusher continues to punish Sharpe, the self-proclaimed "Canada's Greatest Athlete" with a clothesline, punches, hammerlock, and reverse neckbreaker. He then shows off his strength once again with a hanging vertical suplex, but then Sharpe kicks out of the subsequent pin attempt at the count of two. Sharpe makes a comeback but its quickly aborted when he makes the mistake of taking the fight outside the ring. Back inside though he turns things around with a thumb to the eye of Bonecrusher, a lariat, and then several applications of the bearhug. Bonecrusher though fights back, and after out punching Sharpe he locks in the headlock once again frustrating Sharpe. Bonecrusher follows up with a bearhug of his own that he turns into a belly-to-belly suplex. He then re-applies the hold and Sharpe's arms (and mouth) soon fall limp. Bonecrusher made Mike Sharpe submit to the Bearhug in 0:09:07.
Bout #2: RCW Women's Championship Match Judy Martin (champion), Oakland, California (RCW) v Jeannie Rahib, Toronto, Ontario (RCW) The re-match does not go much better for former champion Jeannie Rahib. Martin is too savvy a veteran who keeps turning the tide of the match with illegal moves. In the end Martin used a chop to the throat to set up a piledriver finisher. Judy Martin defeated Jeannie Rahib by pinfall after a piledriver at 5:25 [Judy Martin retains the RCW Women's Championship]
Bout #3: Keith Hart, 214 lbs., Calgary, Alberta (RCW) v Dynamite Kid, 207 lbs., Manchester, England (Stampede) Keith Hart is pissed off about what DK did under the Red Demon mask, so he goes right after him at the bell and throws him out of the ring. He runs DK shoulder first into the ringpost, but when he goes for a clothesline DK ducks under and then takes Hart down with a belly-to-back suplex. DK takes the match back inside the ring. Hart though fires right back and presses his advantage with a somersault slam. DK comes back after a minute and nails a double underhook suplex that bounces Hart out of the ring. They exchange clotheslines and whips into the guardrail. DK slowly begins to take over the match as Hart runs out of steam. He wears him down with a back suplex and a sleeperhold. When Hart goes for a clothesline DK counters with a crucifix into a pin, and gets a very near fall. DK punishes Hart with a fireman's carry into a slam and another back suplex but Hart manages to survive. DK nails a falling headbutt from the top rope but it hurts him long enough to delay the cover, so Hart kicks out at two. Keith Hart blocks a monkey flip, slamming DK into the mat. He then tries to slow things down with an octopus hold and leg sicssors but DK is just too much for him today. DK counters a scoop attempt by Hart and rolls him up, holds the trunks, and gets 1 ,2, kickout. On their feet Dynamite Kid nails Hart with a very fast snap suplex, covers for 1, 2, kickout. Back on their feet DK nails another snap suplex, goes for the pin, and gets 1, 2, grabs a hold of the tights, 3. Dynamite Kid pinned Keith Hart after a snap suplex aided by a handfull of trunks in 0:11:04.
In-ring promo; Pat Patterson comes to the ring with a wrapped present. He calls out Abdullah the Butcher, his opponent for the night. The big man gets a huge ovation from the Winnipeg crowd. Patterson hands him the present as a peace offering. Abby opens the present to find a bucket of Kentucky Fried Chicken. Patterson sets up a chair and Abby immediately sits down to enjoy the chicken, which causes the crowd to boo him. Patterson gets on the mic and tells Abby to listen to the crowd, they mock him while he is the one that has gifted him this fine meal. Abby just continues to eat, throwing the bones to the side. Patterson slips out of the ring returning with another chair. However, instead of sitting down next to Abby he sneaks up behind him and ~waffles~ him with the chair to the back. Abby falls off his chair face first, squishing the chicken pieces below him. Patterson nails him again with the chair to the back. When Abby starts to get to his feet again Patterson swings the chair and nails him square in the head, sending the madman from the Sudan keeling over backward. His head now a crimson red from bloodshed. Ray Stevens now hits the ring and wrestles the chair away from Patterson, kicks him in the gut and then nails him with the chair to the head. Patterson drops to his knees in front of Stevens with a glazed look on his face. Stevens then rears back with the chair and.. Abby grabs the chair on the backswing and sends Stevens half way across the ring when he pulls it away. The Butcher swings the chair making solid contact with Patterson, knocking him out. He then shocks the crowd by turning around and smashing Stevens over the head with the chair as well. All three men are now bleeding from the forehead. Abby sends Stevens to the buckle, and then runs into him avalanching him with the chair. As the fans go nuts, hailing Abby with a mix of cheers and jeers that he just ignores, the Sudanese monster tries to set up the steel chair again but it's too bent out of shape to stand on its own, so he promptly throws it into about the 6th row of seats. He then drops to his knees, picks up a drumstick and begins to munch away. RCW officials come down to try and persuade him to leave but he won't. Finally matchmaker and promoter Marty Goldstein comes down to the announce table and declares a 15 minute intermission.
Bout #4: Abdullah the Butcher, 360 lbs., Sudan v Pat Patterson, 250 lbs., Montreal, Quebec (RCW) Abby seems a bit "full" from his meal so Patterson gets the jump on him. He goes to work with a facerake, kick, and a chokehold, but Abby fires back with a rake of the eyes. This match is as expected a brawl, but in the early going its fairly well contained to the ring, and Patterson is trying to deal with the sheer size advantage of Abby. Patterson applies the sleeperhold twice in succession and seems to be having some luck in wearing down the Butcher. But Abdullah re-exerts his power with a lariat followed by a powerslam, getting a two count after each move. Abby continues to punish Patterson with a backbreaker and a ropeburn much to the liking of the fans. When he goes for a bearhug however Patterson counters with a thumb to the throat. Next thing you know Abby has a fork and stabs Patterson in the forehead, cutting him open again. Referee George Gadasky couldn't see anything as Abby shielded the move with his back. Patterson fought back with a kick to the gut but when he went for the sleeperhold again Abby countered with a jawbreaker. Abby goes to his big elbowdrop but only gets a 2 count. He then works over the head of Patterson causing him to bleed even more. Unsatisfied with the low level of carnage so far Abby finally takes the action out of the ring. Patterson though grabs the advantage back with a kick to the groin, followed by whipping Abby into the ringsteps. Kneelift, clothesline, guardrail shot, ringstep shot, and running knee to the back all dealt out by Patterson. Gadasky is at the count of 7 when Patterson makes the mistake of going for a bodyslam. He can't do it and Abby comes crashing down on top of him. He can't get out in time to break the 10 count. Abdullah the Butcher and Pat Patterson battled to a double countout in 0:13:38.
Bout #5: RCW Television Title Match The Bounty Hunter (champion), 275 lbs., El Paso, Texas (RCW) v Ray Stevens, 247 lbs., San Fransisco, California (RCW) After months of chasing the champ will Stevens finally get a level chance of taking away the gold? Stevens controls most of the match, both inside and outside of the ring. He doesn't use many weardown holds preferring an impact style of moves and brawling techniques that keeps the tempo fairly high. Then Stevens changes tactics and tries to finish off BH with a wristlock, and then a Canadian backbreaker. Two gutwrench suplexes also fail to yield a pinfall. BH makes a comeback but its short lived as Stevens moves out of the way of a spear attempt. Stevens goes for the submission win again with a leglock and then again with a surfboard. Stevens goes to the top turnbuckle for the bombs away finisher but the BH manages to throw himself backward into the corner and sends Stevens toppling to the mat. He attempts to finish Stevens with a piledriver but the veteran counters with a back body drop. Stevens goes for a clothesline but the champ ducks it and then counters with his own clothesline. He then applies a boot choke to weaken Stevens even more. BH throws Stevens out of the ring and follows him, sending him into the guardrail, nailing a pair of elbowsmashes, sending him back into the guardrail, and then pressing him back into the ring. BH nails Stevens with a pair of backbreakers and then takes him to the floor once again. Using the edge of the ring apron as a wall, the champ slams Stevens 5 times back first into the edge of the apron. He then tosses the challenger back inside, nails a waistlock suplex and picks up the pin. The Bounty Hunter pinned Ray Stevens after a waistlock suplex in 0:19:15. [The Bounty Hunter retains the RCW Television Title]

Semi-Main Event The Destroyer, 252 lbs., parts unknown (RCW) v Jerry "Crusher" Blackwell, 450 lbs., Stone Mountain, Georgia (AWA) Destroyer assumes a collar and elbow hook-up to start the match and pays the price as Blackwell kicks him squarely in the gut. They trade punches and forearms until Blackwell wows the crowd with his agility by delivering a dropkick against the Destroyer in the corner of the ring. Blackwell goes for a shoulderblock but the Destroyer counters with legscissors takedown. Destroyer continues to use his scientific methods to keep Blackwell off guard, until Blackwell takes over the match with another dropkick followed by a punishing bearhug. Blackwell then begins to use his power to counter some of the Destroyer's offense. A crucifix attempt was countered with a Samoan drop that almost got a 3 count, and a swinging neckbreaker attempt is countered with a side suplex. Destroyer survives by rolling away from a Big Splash attempt. The match turns into more of a brawl now and the action spills outside the ring on a couple occasions. Blackwell nails Destroyer with a powerslam but he didn't get all of it, so he followed up with a big splash. The AWA's behemoth may have got the pin but he hesitated to boast to the crowd and didn't hook a leg, so Destroyer managed to get a shoulder up to break the pin attempt. Blackwell sent Destroyer to the buckles but when he charged in the masked man lifted a boot to his gut, and then followed up with a swinging neckbreaker. The men trade blows, and then Blackwell gets Destroyer whipped around the ring, catching him with 4 consecutive shoulderblocks, one off each side of the ring. But when he gets greedy and goes for a 5th the Destroyer catches him with a backelbow to the forehead. Destroyer takes over the match but some of his offense is just shaken off by the huge opponent. Destroyer attempts to work over an arm for a while until Blackwell lifts him in the air and avalanches him into the corner. Blackwell then pulls Destroyer by the mask into the center of the ring. Again he takes time to insult the fans. Blackwell drops a big elbow but only gets a 2 count. He then bounces Destroyer's head off the top turnbuckle and delivers several chops. He whips Destroyer off the ropes and goes for a clothesline. Destroyer ducks under and once again goes for a crucifix. This time he manages to rock the big man enough to eventually roll him over. Blackwell stumbles to his feet and the masked technician delivers a dropkick to the knee which puts him back down to one knee. Destroyer comes off the ropes as Blackwell gets back up and rocks him with a flying forearm. Blackwell reels backward but manages to stay vertical. Destroyer repeats the move and this time although Blackwell doesnt go down he slumps backward against the ropes. Destroyer then nails him with a dropkick and Blackwell tumbles between the ropes to the floor below. It's quite a big fall for such a huge man, and he is hurt and disorientated. Inside the ring the Destroyer retreats to a neutral corner, resting against the turnbuckles from a grueling match. But Blackwell is in no shape to recover from the fall and referee Lynn Powell counts him out. The Destroyer defeated Jerry Blackwell by countout in 0:24:05.
MAIN EVENT RCW Heavyweight Championship Match Chris Lyon, (champion) 236 lbs., Winnipeg, Manitoba (/w Tawney England) v Superstar Billy Graham (WWWF/AWA), 260 lbs., Paradise Valley, Arizona The fans came to their feet for the Superstar, tonight's biggest attraction. Graham immediately went into a posedown which unerved Lyon, even more so when he noticed his valet England looking at Billy with "hungry eyes". Lyon bruskly escorted England out of the ring, and when he turned around he found himself face to face with SBG, who wrapped his big arms around the champ and took him over with a belly-to-belly. Referee Wyatt Hall called for the bell and we were officially underway. It's all Graham early and he locks in a full nelson, causing Lyon to have to wrap his legs around the ropes to get a break. The fans may have been on SBG side but this did not mean that he was about to follow the rules. The natural villian went to work on the local champ with chokeholds against the ropes, followed by vicious slaps to the chest on the break. Lyon's chest was beat red only minutes into the match. Lyon gets in his first substantial offense outside the ring as he whips Graham into both the ringsteps and guardrail before punishing him with a pumphandle slam. Lyon then distracted Wyatt Hall as Tawney England went to work with a boot choke. Coincidently this got the crowd chanting their usual "boot" chant at Tawney. Back inside the ring control turns over fairly rapidly as this match turns into a slobberknocker. Graham punishes the champ with a bearhug, and then Lyon returns the favor with a side headlock. Things get nasty when it spills outside the ring again. Tawney tries to interfere and SBG accidently takes her out with a back elbow. He tries to check on her but is nailed from behind with a double axhandle to the lower back area by Lyon. After a few stomps the champ locks on the Boston crab and only breaks it upon the referee's threat of DQ. Back inside Lyon continues to work over the back of the Superstar but can't put him away. The champ goes to a series of chops in frustration, only to have SBG turn it around, tossing Lyon into the corner and peppering him with chops. SBG takes him out of the corner with a belly-to-belly and then locks in the bearhug. Lyon manages to escape a certain submission with a rake of the eyes. He then comes off the ropes and dropkicks Graham right in the small of the back. Lyon puts him in the Boston crab and Graham is forced to endure a minute of pain working his way to the ropes for the break. Lyon goes to work with some stomps until SBG tunrs over and blocks a stomp, grabbing the foot of Lyon, He stands himself up, still holdiing the foot of a hopping Lyon. Graham leg whips the champ to the mat and then lowers an elbow into the "lower midsection". Graham pulls the champ to his feet and then nails him with a vicious headbutt, having to hold the champ up so he wouldn't fall. Graham went to scoop up Lyon, but England reached in and blocked it by grabbing his ankle. Graham tried to take Lyon over but he couldn't muster the leverage. His arms flailed wildly and he ended up grabbing a hold of the referee. While this was happening Bobby Duncum ran down to the ring and nailed SBG in the leg with a steel chair. Lyon then countered with a vertical suplex. Both men struggled to their feet, with Graham up first but Lyon getting the drop on him with an armdrag takdown. He followed this up with a Mexican hiptoss. Lyon finished off the challenger with a slingshot suplex. Chris Lyon pinned Billy Graham after a slingshot suplex in 0:15:35. [Chris Lyon retained the RCW Heavyweight Title]
Post-Match: Superstar Billy Graham was livid and went after both Lyon and Duncum having them both beaten. But he made the mistake of being distracted by England who jumped on his back. This allowed Angelo Mosca to hit the ring and take out Graham from behind. The new Triumverate of Lyon, Duncum, and Mosca celebrated in the ring with Tawney and Corrie England, the tag team titles, and the heavyweight title.

River City Wrestling #110 Winnipeg Convention Centre, Winnipeg, MB We are welcomed by the announcers Ron Strong & Mike Stone. On the heels of Wrestling Summit, the greatest card in the history of River City Wrestling. Pre-Match: The Destroyer is interviewed by Ron Strong. He won a tough match against Jerry Blackwell at Wrestling Summit by countout. Destroyer deflects credit, saying it is an indication of the level of competition and great young, local talent being produced by River City Wrestling. He says the world needs to sit up and take notice of RCW. Strong turns to the inevitable "what's next" question. Destroyer says he's still gunning to get his title back from Chris Lyon, but he is also working on something else right now. Destroyer calls out and introduces the world to RCW's newest talent Vic Gate, who comes out and shakes hands with the former RCW champion. Destroyer intrduces Gate as an accomplished NCAA amateur wrestler who has been training to be a pro for a couple of years down in Central States. Gate thanks Destroyer for the kind words and advice he has offered since his arrival in Winnipeg. Opening Bout: Vic Gate, 229 lbs., St. Louis, Missouri (/w The Destroyer) v Cuban Assassin, 231 lbs., Havana, Cuba Assassin wastes no time going into cheat mode, using chokes, eye gouges, and shots to the throat. Gate tries to go to the outside for a break but that's a mistake as the Assassin is even more ruthless out of the ring. However, the Cuban makes the mistake of being too cocky with the Destroyer and gives him a push. Destroyer pushes him back, sending him to the ground. By the time he stands up Gate nails him with a flying clothesline off the ring apron. Gate then suplexes Assassin on the ring floor, before mounting him for a series of punches to the head. Destroyer is urging Gate to reenter the ring because of the count, but he doesn't pay any attention. Double Countout at 5:02
In-ring Interview: The Triumverate come to the ring, Chris Lyon (RCW Heavyweight Champion), Bobby Duncum and Angelo Mosca (RCW Tag Team Champions), along with their valets Tawney and Corrie England. Chris Lyon is dressed in "Superstar" paraphenalia (tie-dye shirt, boa, glitter sunglases), he gives a posedown with his championship belt draped over his shoulder. Bobby Duncum is dressed as a minister, and holds a bible close to his heart. Angelo Mosca is dressed in kung fu attire. The England Sisters are in their ususal skin tight Jordache jeans and heavy metal concert shirts. Lyon grabs the mic from Ron Strong and they chase him from the ring. The crowd reigns down jeers on the Triumverte but Lyon just continues to pose. Lyon cuts a SBG-esque interview telling how he beat the legend at his own game at Wrestling Summit. Lyon says this proves that he is one of the top wrestlers in the world today. He then turns the mic over to the Revrend Bobby Duncum and then over to Kung Fu Angleo Mosca who both do short promos spoofing Graham. Lyon then turns his comments to the rest of RCW. He tells everyone in the lockeroom that the Triumverate have lifted this backwater promotion to new heights. RCW is now a world class promotion, and the Triumverate control all the power. He challenges the entire lockeroom to pick it up a notch, or be left behind.
Bout #2 Jeannie Rahib (Toronto, ON) v Shelly Salter (Winnipeg, MB) Women's match that see's former women's champ Rahib make short work of her smaller opponent, much to the fans liking. Jeannie Rahib defeats Shelly Salter by pinfall with a schoolgirl pin at 3:26
In-ring Interview: Former RCW Tag Team champions the Roughnecks come to the ring, without their familiar gold around their waist. They give a dejected interview before demanding their rematch with the champions. Bobby Duncum & Angelo Mosca come down to the ring to answer their foes. Mosca calls them bums and says that they will get their guaranteed rematch within the 30 day period. But that match won't be tonight, instead they will be giving their first title defense to Rob Flett & Neil Sutherland as receipt for their aid last month in laying a beating on the Roughnecks.
Bout #3 RCW Tag Team Title Match Bobby Duncum & Angelo Mosca (champions) (/w Corrie England) v Rob Flett & Neil Sutherland The youngsters are no match for the bigger more experienced veterans. Squash. Bobby Duncum & Angleo Mosca defeat Rob Flett & Neil Sutherland by pinfall when Mosca pins Sutherland after a double team elbowdrop at 4:35 [Duncum & Mosca retain the RCW Tag Team Titles]
In-ring announcement; Matchmaker Marty Goldstein comes to the ring. He says that Wrestling Summit was a great success and that even if the fans don't like it, its great to see world class wrestlers like Bobby Duncum and Angleo Mosca join the roster. He warns the Triumverate though that no man, woman, or group is greater then RCW because RCW is the sum of all the fans, almost 5,000 of whom were at Wrestling Summit. Furthermore he says that with that success behind us that we can expect many new wrestlers to be flocking to RCW and they will all want to take a shot at Lyon, Mosca, and Duncum. However, in the meantime, since their is no clear cut #1 contender for the RCW title, he is setting up a 4-man mini-tournament to happen over the next 2 weeks. with the winner to get a title shot at Chris Lyon. The 4 participants will be Ray Stevens taking on Pat Patterson in one semi-final, and The Destroyer taking on Dynamite Kid in the other semi-final. Both those matches will take place next week. But while we wait for that tournament to happen, Goldstein tells Lyon to come to the ring as his first title defense will be next against a surprise opponent.
Main Event RCW Heavyweight Title Match Mystery Opponent Chris Lyon (champion), 236 lbs., Winnipeg, Manitoba (/w Tawney England) v Abdullah the Buthcer, 360 lbs., Sudan Well the fans go nuts when Abby is brought out as the surprise opponent for Lyon. The champ tries to leave but Goldstein comes out and tells him if he leaves, he forfeits the belt. Then Duncum and Mosca come down but are promptly banned to the back. Finally the match gets underway when Abby attacks Lyon from behind. He mauls the local champ and nails him with some very heavy elbows. Tawney England pulls Lyon out of the ring by his feet. Abby goes after England and she flees to the back. This gives Lyon enough time to recover and he retreats back inside the ring. Abby enters the ring, and Lyon promptly leaves. Abby then chases him around the ring until he seems to get winded. Lyon fetches a chair and takes a running jump at Abby's head, busting him wide open. Lyon goes to work on the legs of Abby clipping him, and kicking his knees out. Abby pulls Lyon down to the arena floor with him and proceeds to bite his forehead, and now Lyon is bleeding too. Abby tries to get up but his legs are too hurt so he drops down to one knee - right onto Lyon's crotch. He tries again, this time he stumbles forward and lands his crotch right onto Lyon's face. The fans are loving it. Abby goes to work on Lyon, biting his forehead. Ref George Gadasky manages to get Abby to take his prey back into the ring. The Butcher lays in a couple of big knee drops. Tawney England returns though and manges to pull Lyon out of the ring again by his feet. Abby tries to step out of the ring to follow Lyon but Gadasky tries to hold him back. This causes Abby to lose control and he hammers the ref with an elbow between the eyes, and follows up with a powerslam. Gadasky is out cold. Abby leaves the ring and retrieves Lyon, rolling him back into the ring. He delivers a big splash and covers, but there is no one there to count. Before he can get off of Lyon the ring is filled with Bobby Duncum and Angelo Mosca who attack the Butcher. Mosca holds Abby's arms behind his back as Duncum lays in some punches. When Duncum tries to nail him with a cowbell however, Abby ducks away and Duncum nails Mosca instead. Abby then powerslams Duncum. Lyon is on his feet and Abby nails him with another powerslam. Gadasky is waking up, Abby has Lyon covered, the fans are going nuts...and Gadasky calls for the bell. Chris Lyon defeats Abdullah the Butcher by disqualification for abuse of official at 5:13 [Chris Lyon retains the RCW Heavyweight Title] The Triumverate manage to escape the clutches of the Butcher and head for the hills with the RCW title in tow. That's it for another edition of River City wrestling. See ya next week

River City Wrestling #111 Winnipeg Convention Centre, Winnipeg, MB We are welcomed by the announcers Ron Strong & Mike Stone. Pre-Match: RCW Television champion The Bounty Hunter comes to the ring. BH brags about his succesful title defense at Wrestling Summit over Ray Stevens. He says while there is no clear #1 contender for the TV title he thought it would be sporting to give someone a chance to win the belt tonight. He calls out an open challenge to anyone in the lockeroom. His challenge is met moments later by newcomer Vic Gate. BH just kind of smirks at Gate and questions whether he is up for the challenge. This brings out The Destroyer who apparently has been training and managing the career of Gate. He actually tries to talk Gate out of taking the match, saying he isn't ready yet and he could get hurt physically or psycologically. Gate says there's only one way to find out if he is ready and that is to try. Destroyer relents and we have our match. Opening Bout: RCW Television Title Match The Bounty Hunter (champion), 275 lbs., El Paso Texas v Vic Gate, 229 lbs., St. Louis Missouri, (/w The Destroyer) Quite frankly Gate was not ready for this match. He started off strong enough getting a waistlock takedown, a headlock, a leglock, and a waistlock suplex. However, soon enough he was eating an elbow and then clotheslined hard. BH took great pleasure in punishing the youngster with a powerbomb, piledriver, and a pair of gutwrench suplexes. He could have easily have got the pin but he pulled up Gate at the 2 count. Gate crawled to the ropes, disorientated he tried to reach out and tag the Destroyer on the floor. Destroyer just encouraged him and warned BH to not play around, but he didn't touch or help Gate. Finally BH set him up with his lariat and took the pin. Bounty Hunter defeated Vic Gate by pinfall after a lariat at 5:20 [Bounty Hunter retains the RCW Television title] Promo; Opening this weekend in theatres across the nation, in 3-D technology, Paramount Pictures presents Steve Guttenberg in "The Man Who Wasn't There". Being invisible gets you into spy rings, diplomatic circles, and the girl's locker room. A State Department employee finds an egg-shaped device with a green fluid inside that makes the person who drinks it invisible. He finds himself being chased by foreign agents who want the substance.
Bout #2 Semi-Final in #1 contender mini-tournament Ray Stevens, 247 lbs., San Fransisco, CA v Pat Patterson, 250 lbs., Montreal, PQ Another edition of the legendary feud. This time Stevens comes up with a clean win. Ray Stevens defeats Pat Patterson by pinfall after the Bombs Away at 9:26
Arm wrestling challenge; Angleo Mosca v Stan Rodgers RCW Tag champions Angleo Mosca and Bobby Duncum come to the ring, carrying an armwrestling table. Mosca paraphrases Conn Smythe the former owner of the Toronto Maple Leafs (which draws a mix of cheers and jeers from the crowd) and says, if you can't beat 'em in the alley then you can't beat them in the ring. He says it took a long time before anyone came to RCW that were not only a better tag team then the Roughnecks but also bigger and stronger. With that said Mosca calls out the former champs in an armwrestling challenge. Stan Rodgers comes to the ring, but unfortuantely for him Russel Riggs could not be here tonight, so he is alone. Duncum gives his "scouts honor" that he will stay out of it, as referee Wyatt Hall sets up Rodgers and Mosca for an arm wrestling match. Of course the inevitable happens with Rodgers gaining the advantage and almost having the win, when Duncum cheap shot him from behind. Mosca and Duncum double teamed Rodgers until RCW officials could break it up. Promo; On tonight's National News, President Ronald Reagan spoke today to the nation via radio address in regards to the situation in Central America. Here is a brief clip of his speach; Unfortunately, there have been such distortions about U.S. policy in Central America that the great majority of Americans don't know which side we're on. No wonder a great many sincere people write angrily that we should support regional dialog, emphasize economic assistance, or take any number of other actions, all of which we're already doing and have been doing for more than 2 years.
Well, it's time to get away from fairy tales and get back to reality. We support the elected Government of El Salvador against Communist-backed guerrillas who would take over the country by force. And we oppose the unelected Government of Nicaragua, which supports those guerrillas with weapons and ammunition. Now, that, of course, puts us in sympathy with those Nicaraguans who are trying to restore the democratic promises made during the revolution, the so-called contras.
Music Video Promo; "No One Like You" by Scorpions, as we see Tawney and Corrie England in and out of the ring. The last shot we see is them standing behind the Triumverate (Lyon, Mosca, Duncum) looking as if they are in control. Approximate length: 2:00 Main Event Semi-Final in #1 contender mini-tournament The Destroyer, 252 lbs. parts unknown v Dynamite Kid, 207 lbs., Manchester England This has all the makings of an excellent match-up as both men are scientifically sound despite Kid's rulebreaking tendencies. Collar-elbow hook-up to begin and Destroyer forces DK back to the corner and breaks clean. They lock-up again and the same thing happens except this time DK slaps Destroyer across the face, points a finger at him and says "don't try and embarass me". They lock up again, this time Destroyer gives it more gusto, too much though, and DK takes him down with a hammerlock. He works the lock as both men try to pivot positions on the mat. Finally Destroyer manages to bridge and roll out of the hold but his arm is hurting. DK goes right to work wrapping the arm around the top rope, and then hammering it across the ring apron and then around the ring post. Destroyer fights back with kicks and a flying headscissors into a headscissor lock. DK manages to pop out of it and tries for the hammerlock but Destroyer counters with a front facelock. He works the hold until he can turn it into a neckbreaker. Destroyer goes to work now with a high knee lift, kneedrops, and flying bodypress but can't get the pin. DK manages to take the match outside where he reverses the momentum of the match, nailing Destroyer with a snap suplex on the floor. Back inside DK hits a variety of moves including a crane kick, a hip toss powerslam, and a plancha to the outside. DK rolls Destroyer back inside and then nails him with a headbutt from the top turnbuckle, but he hurts himself too, so Destroyer is able to kick out from the delayed pin attempt. At this point the display changes and we are told the match has been edited for time, and that there are only 5 minutes left in the 20 minute time limit. Destroyer is in control and we can see that the DK has been busted wide open. Destroyer nails a side suplex, a drop toe hold sending DK's head into the bottom turnbuckle, and a splash from the 2nd turnbuckle. Dynamite Kid though kicks out of the pin attempt. Destroyer punishes DK with bodyscissors trying to take the wind out of the high flying technician. He turns it into a pinning combination but only gets a 2 count. Back on their feet and DK lashses out with a kick right to the kneecap of the Destroyer, who drops like a stone. DK tries to get back his wind, his hands resting on his knees, while the masked man attempts to stand, only to fall down again. DK goes to work with some stomps and a boot choke. He turns Destroyer face down, stepping on the back of his thigh he lifts his knee and slams it into the mat several times. DK turns Destroyer over and puts him in a figure-four , but they are too close to the ropes and he has to break the hold. DK though refuses to break the hold at first, risking disqualification. Finally he releases the hold only to try and reapply it but he receives a kick to the jaw by the Destroyer, who then reaches up and rolls him up for 1, 2, Kickout!! The timekeeper announces one minute remains in the timelimit. Both men scramble to their feet. Destroyer rocks DK with a forearm smash that knocks him against the ropes. DK tries to climb between the ropes but Destroyer pulls him back inside - only to eat an elbow from the British mat star. DK then follows up with a knee to the gut and a snap suplex. Ref counts 1, 2, DK grabs a hold of the tights...3... Dynamite Kid defeats The Destroyer by pinfall after a snap suplex (and a handful of tights) at 19:32. approximately 13 minutes shown on television Destroyer argues with ref Wyatt Hall after the match but to no avail. The announce team thanks the fans for tuning in and set-up next week's Dynamite Kid v Ray Stevens encounter with the winner to be the #1 contender for Chris Lyon's heavyweight title. That's it for another edition of River City Wrestling.

River City Wrestling #112 Winnipeg Convention Centre, Winnipeg, MB We are welcomed by the announcers Ron Strong & Mike Stone. Pre-Match: The Triumverate come to the ring (Chris Lyon, Bobby Duncum, and Angelo Mosca). They are accompanied by Tawney and Corrie England. Mosca and Duncum no longer wear the Kung-Fu and Minister costumes, but Lyon is still decked out in Superstar Billy Graham like boa, tie-dye and big sunglasses. Duncum takes the mic and tells the crowd that while Ray Stevens and Dynamite Kid are fighting it out tonight to see who will be the #1 contender for Chris Lyon to face, in the meantime the Reverend Billy...err...Chris Lyon has put the names of all the less fortunate wrestlers from the dressing room into a hat. Tawney shows the camera a derby hat with a bunch of pieces of paper inside. He will draw tonight to see who he will grant an impromptu title match too. It's his way of giving back to the people. Chris Lyon steps forward and draws a piece of paper out of the hat. He hands it to Mosca who opens it. He and Corrie England both look at it with mouths wide open - and then shake their heads no. Lyon is too busy prancing around the ring to notice, so Duncum goes over and looks. He too looks concerned and is about to put the paper back in the hat when Chris Lyon snatches it away. The champ says that all men must be given a chance at glory, that it would be unjust to discriminate. Lyon looks at the name, just stares...then looks down at his feet for a few seconds. Finally he takes the mic and announces...his opponent for tonight will be none other then... Keith Hart.. and the Triumverte all break out in laughter. Opening Bout: RCW Heavyweight Championship Match Chris Lyon, (champion) 236 lbs. Winnipeg, Manitoba, (/w Tawney England) v Keith Hart, 214 lbs. Calgary, Alberta Hart is fired up at being mocked by the Triumverate and is a house of fire to start the match. This lasts about 2 minutes until he is distracted by England jumping onto the ring apron. Lyon nails him from behind, bounces him off the top rope with a slingshot suples, and then locks on the Boston crab to secure the win. Chris Lyon defeats Keith Hart by submission with the Boston crab at 2:52. [Chris Lyon retains the RCW Heavyweight Title]
Movie Promo; ComWorld presents "Getting it On" opening in theaters this weekend. Martin Yoast and Heather Kennedy star in this light minded romp. "Don't Miss the Stripped Down Fun and Hot Wired Action"
Bout #2: Vic Gate & The Destroyer v Rob Flett & Neil Sutherland Gate gets on television 3 straight weeks, not bad for a rookie. Teamed with his mentor it's obvious that they are too skilled for the young Native Canadian duo. Destroyer makes a late tag and allows his protege to pick up the win. Gate & Destroyer defeat Flett & Sutherland by submission when Vic Gate got Neil Sutherland to submit to a reverse figure-four leglock at 5:11
Bout #3 RCW Tag Team Title Match - return match Bobby Duncum & Angelo Mosca (champions) (/w Corrie England) v The Roughnecks: Stan Rodgers & Russel Riggs Strictly a streetfight in this encounter. Mosca and Duncum have a slight advantage as Riggs seems to be the weak link. As the match progresses the champions begin to work on the knee of Riggs and soon it becomes obvious he is in a world of hurt. Riggs makes a short comeback before trying to deliver an atomic drop, and his legs just give out. Riggs is down and holding his knee, screaming in pain. Duncum continues to go at it so Rodgers enters the ring, nails Duncum and then keeps Mosca at bay. He keeps this up too long however as Riggs is still down, so referee George Gadasky calls for the bell. Angelo Mosca & Bobby Duncum defeat The Roughnecks by referee stoppage due to injury to Russel Riggs at 9:48 [Mosca & Duncum retain the RCW Tag Team Titles] Promo; NBC National News stories tonight August 20th, 1983; >the aftermath of Hurricane Alicia which ripped though Houston and surrounding territory >heat wave grips the lower eastern coastal states >continued hostilites between Libya and Chad >aide to PLO chairperson Yassir Arafat, Col Mahmoun Muraish assassinated in Greece >windsurfing to be included in 1984 Olympics
Main Event #1 Contenders Match
Ray Stevens, 247 lbs., San Fransisco, California v Dynamite Kid, 209 lbs., Manchester, England Dynamite Kid attacked Ray Stevens before the bell. He used Steven's ring robe to choke him, and then tie him up as he peppered him with punches. Only the threat of disqualification got him to break. DK continued on the offensive and controlled the first 5 minutes of the match but never seemed to get close to pinning the veteran. Stevens launched a comeback and then grounded DK with headscissors, armbar, and front facelock. He then went to work with impact moves like a belly-to-belly, bulldog, avalanche, and a piledriver. He set him up for the Bombs's Away but DK was able to roll out of the way at the last second, and Stevens crashed his knee into the mat. Ever the opportunist DK went right to work on the knee. He lifted him up and brought him down with a kneebreaker, and then repeated the same move. He tried for the figure-four but Stevens was able to roll out of it before it could get locked on. Stevens rolled right out of the ring and DK followed. He crashed the injured leg into the ringsteps, and then off the concrete floor. The match got sent back into the ring where DK continued to work on the leg. The ring announcer proclaimed 1 minute remaining in the 20 minute time limit. DK gave up on the knee, nailing Stevens with a piledriver instead, but only got a 2 count. He then nailed a snap suplex and got another 2 count. 20 seconds remaining in the match. DK nailed a second snap suplex and made the cover, 1, 2, DK grabbed the tights, 3, no. Ref George Gadasky saw and waives off the 3 count this time. DK was incensed, and Stevens rolls him up from behind. But the bell rings. Time has expired. 20-minute time limit draw. The show ends with confusion as we have no clear #1 contender. That's it for another edition of River City Wrestling. See ya next week.

River City Wrestling #113 Winnipeg Convention Centre, Winnipeg, MB We are welcomed by the announcers Ron Strong & Mike Stone. Due to last week's time limit draw between Ray Stevens and Dynamite Kid we were not able to declare a #1 contender. So those two will hook it up again tonight. Opening Bout: Handi-Cap Match - Non Title Match Judy Martin v Tanya Tataryn & Shelly Salter Martin had complained loud and hard about a lack of quality competition so she decided to face off against two women tonight instead of just one. However, as could have been predicted the animosity between Tataryn & Salter prevented them from operating as a coherent tag team. Martin was able to cherry pick her attacks and Salter did not even try to break up the pin attempt after Martin hit Tataryn with her piledriver finisher. Judy Martin defeated Tanya Tataryn & Shelly Salter by pinfall when she pinned Tataryn after a piledriver at 6:38
Main Event #1 Contenders Match - No time Limit Ray Stevens, 247 lbs., San Fransisco, California v Dynamite Kid, 207 lbs., Manchester, England Joined in progress. The match is already over 20 minutes old, DK is already busted open. Stevens works DK over outside the ring with a bodyslam and then laying in some stomps. He rolls back inside the ring to break the count only to roll back out and throw Kid onto the announce table. He pounds away until his opponent rolls off the table, and then he over turns the table and its contents onto the Brit. Ref George Gadasky talks Stevens back into the ring, and DK grabs a chair. As DK feigns re-entry into the ring Stevens tries to get to him, but is grabbed by Gadasky. Stevens pushes him out of the way knocking him over. Stevens reaches out of the ring for DK only to eat a helping of steel chair. DK climbs to the top turnbuckle and comes off with a headbutt..but Stevens moves out of the way at the last second. Both men are down and so is the ref. Gadasky regains his senses first and begins a slow count, with both men using the ropes to pull themselves up just before the 10 count. DK charged at Stevens but the veteran backdropped the young Brit over the top rope where he landed hard on the floor. Gadasky's 10 count was interrupted at 8 by Stevens who lept off the apron with an axhandle to the back of Dkid. Stevens rolled DK back into the ring. Stevens went for a piledriver but the Brit backdropped his way out of it. Dkid then managed to get Stevens down with a drop toe hold into a leglock, and then into a crossface chickenwing. Eventually he turned this over into a version of the bow and arrow, but he still couldn't get Stevens to quit. Frustrated DKid took the action back outside the ring. He paused to use a towel to clean the blood from his face. He then attacked Stevens, tossing him into the guardrail and then the ringsteps. He then nailed him with a snap suplex on the ground. DKid broke the count, and then climbed to the top turnbuckle. He was perched to come off the top all the way to the floor but thought better of it when Stevens saw him and rolled out of range. DKid climbed down and grabbed the discarded steel chair. Gadasky though began to try and get the chair from the hands of DK, and as they weren't looking Stevens charged hard into DK. But DK pulled the steel chair out of the grasp of Gadasky at the last second and Stevens ran right into the steel chair. All 3 men once again went down. This time DK was the first to his feet. Noticing that Gadasky was out of it DK climbed onto the announce table, grabbed the ring bell and jumped off, smashing Stevens across the head. Stevens went down like he was shot, and when DK pulled him back up he was wearing the proverbial crimson mask. Both men were now bleeding heavily. The match then skipped forward a few minutes. We are around 33 minutes in now, back inside, both men bleeding, and Dynamite Kid in control. DK nails a couple of armbreakers before shifting gears with a vicious looking face first piledriver. He can't get the 3 count though so he goes to 4 consecutive knee drops directly onto the bloodied forehead of Stevens. He then mounts him and lays in punches until Gadasky has to physically pull him off. DKid loses it momentarily and sets up Gadasky as if for a gutwrench suplex, but then thinks better of it, releases the hold, and walks right into a kick to the groin by Stevens. The Crippler attacks with a pailr of backbreakers before locking in the Boston crab. It takes DKid over a minute to reach the ropes for the break. Stevens goes for the hold again only to receive a thumb to the eye by DK who then rolls up Stevens and gets 1, 2, grabs a handfull of tights, but Gadasky is checking and calls for the break.
Both men go toe to toe in the middle of the rings with punches and kicks, but at a slow pace as both men are losing a lot of blood.
Matchmaker Marty Goldstein is down at ringside and observing.
DKid nails Stevens with a piledriver and gets a 2 count, and a minute later Stevens returns the favour but he too can not gain the pinfall.
Goldstein has been joined at ringside by Dr. Gord Peterson, and he calls over George Gadasky who then waves for the bell. Gadasky and Goldstein manage to seperate the two combatants and send them to neutral corners.
Peterson works on the cuts to stop the bleeding like a boxing cornerman and checks to see if they are coherent and can continue. The fans are booing and throwing things at the ring but settle down once an announcement is made that if the doctor clears both men to wrestle the match will resume. Officially the clock has been stopped at 41:28, not that it matters as this match is no time limit.
The match does in fact resume, and we skip forward to the 45 minute mark. Both men are staggering. DK nails Stevens with a German suplex, but is so slow to pin that he doesn't even get a 1 count. Stevens goes for a close attack, nailing a pair of forearm uppercuts driving DK back into the corner. He works him over in the corner, wrapping one leg through the ropes, and going after the thigh.
Gadasky calls for the break, and as he pulls DK's leg over the bottom rope the Brit just falls flat on his face. Gadasky does a quick check, but it doesnt matter as Dr. Peterson has already called for the bell.
Ray Stevens defeats Dynamite Kid by stoppage due to excessive blood loss at 48:24.
[approximately 28 minutes shown on TV]
Fantastic main event that the fans will not forget any time soon. They gave Stevens a nice loud ovation at the end of the match and look forward to him clashing with RCW Heavyweight champion Chris Lyon.
That's it for another edition of River City Wrestling.
See ya next week.

River City Wrestling #114 Winnipeg Convention Centre, Winnipeg, MB We are welcomed by the announcers Ron Strong & Mike Stone. Opening Bout:
Vic Gate, 229 lbs., St. Louis, Missouri (/w the Destroyer) v Angelo Mosca, 280 lbs., Hamilton, Ontario (/w Corrie England)
Mosca dominated most of this match. Gate got in a little offense but it was handled easily by the veteran "King Kong" Mosca with cheating tactics. The Destroyer was on the outside going crazy, yelling at the ref, but not interfering himself. Mosca nailed Gate with a bodyslam, then a chop right to the heart. He was setting him up for the elbowdrop finisher when Bobby Duncum ran down and pearl harbored Destroyer from behind. Unfortunately for the Triumverate this distracted Mosca just long enough for Gate to recover and nail him with a belly-to-back suplex and pick up a surprise win.
Vic Gate defeated Angelo Mosca by pinfall after a belly-to-back suplex at 5:02
Post-Match: Mosca and Duncum managed to deliver a good old fashioned villian beat down of Gate and Destroyer.
Bout #2: Dynamite Kid v Brian Jewel
Squash match against a local competitor.
Dynamite Kid defeated Brian Jewel by pinfall after a flying headbutt at 3:36
Bout #3:
RCW Women’s Title Match
Judy Martin (champion) v Iron Maiden
Iron Maiden is back in action in RCW, but the competitors for Judy Martin are running thin. Martin had very little trouble handling Maiden.
Judy Martin defeated Iron Maiden by pinfall after a piledriver at 2:47
[Judy Martin retains the RCW Women’s title]
Main Event:
RCW Heavyweight Championship Match
Chris Lyon, (champion), 236 lbs, Winnipeg, Manitoba (/w Tawney England)
V
Ray Stevens, 247 lbs., San Fransisco, California
Stevens started strong grounding the younger and faster Lyon with a single leg takedown into a leglock. He continued to punish the champ with a front facelock and an abdominal stretch. Tawney England distracted Stevens by grabbing his leg which allowed Lyon to sneak in a rake of the eyes. The champ then dragged Stevens’ head along the top rope before then using the ropes to choke him. He threw Stevens out of the ring, and when the champion tried to re-enter he sent him back down with a knee to the gut. Lyon continued to frustrate Stevens, toying with him, along with some well timed interference from England. Lyon tried to put away the challenger with a slingshot suplex but Stevens kicked out of the pin attempt. Lyon then worked over the back of Stevens and tried for the Boston crab (a move that both men use as an alternate finisher). Stevens managed to bridge out of it. Lyon tried to apply it again but this time Stevens used his power to pull Lyon inward and the hold was never locked in. Frustrated the champ went back to slugging Stevens, but this played right into the hands of the surly veteran. He spun the champ into the corner and laid into him with fists and kicks. He gave him two backbreakers, holding the second one as a submission manoveur. He then tried to turn Lyon over into the Boston crab but Tawney England reached in and pulled on Lyon’s arms hard enough to cause a break. Lyon then threw Stevens out of the ring. With the champ distracting the referee Tawney England ~waffled~ Stevens across the back with a lead pipe she retrieved from under the ring. Lyon left the ring to roll Stevens back in, and then applied the Boston crab. Despite being in incredible pain Stevens managed to reach the ropes and create the break after almost a minute in the hold. Lyon kicked him out of the ring and again distracted the referee Lynn Powell from doing his job. This time though Powell was wise to him and turned at just the right time to catch England nail Stevens in the back with the lead pipe once again.
Ray Stevens defeated Chris Lyon by disqualification due to outside interference at 10:22 [Chris Lyon retains the RCW Heavyweight Title]
Post-Match:
Bobby Duncum and Angelo Mosca joined Chris Lyon in the ring and the Triumverate were going to lay a beatdown on Stevens but their plans were ruined when Vic Gate and the Destroyer hit the ring and sent them packing.
September 10, 1983
River City Wrestling #115 Winnipeg Convention Centre, Winnipeg, MB We are welcomed by the announcers Ron Strong & Mike Stone. Opening Bout:
RCW Television Title Match
The Bounty Hunter, (champion), 275 lbs., El Paso, Texas V J.D. Miller, 188 lbs., Lloydminster, Alberta
Squash match. Bounty Hunter had no problems with the youngster.
Bounty Hunter defeated J.D. Miller by pinfall after a Lariat at 2:26
Bout #2:
Keith Hart, 214 lbs., Calgary, Alberta v Cuban Assassin, 240 lbs., Havana, Cuba
Very even match-up with Assassin enjoying a power advantage as well as having no regard for the rules. However, Hart reacted well to fan support and those same fans kept Assassin distracted from the task at hand. In the end Hart was able to mount a comeback with a couple of flying dropkicks, an elbowdrop off the 2nd rope, a German suplex, and then a back heel kick to finish him off.
Keith Hart defeated Cuban Assassin by pinfall after a back heel kick at 6:09
Bout #3
Neil Sutherland & Rob Flett v Brian Jewel & Joe Apollo
Apollo was the odd man out being the only non-native wrestler in the match. This was a much needed match for confidence for Sutherland and Flett who tormented the crowd by picking up their first legitimate tag team win on RCW television.
Sutherland & Flett defeated Jewel & Apollo by pinfall after a double team tomahawk chop at 5:31

RCW Tag Team Title Match
Angelo Mosca & Bobby Duncum, (champions) (/w Corrie England) V Vic Gate & The Destroyer
Gate was a house of fire to begin this match but soon became targeted as the weak link. Mosca and Destroyer worked over his neck to a point where he seemed unable to move it around, which severely limited the type of offense he could muster. Destroyer got the hot tag and went to work, but Gate was too injured to offer much resistance when Duncum helped Mosca double team Destroyer to regain control of the match. In the end Mosca illegally choked the Destroyer with the tag rope and then Duncum nailed him with the flying bulldog to pick up the win.
Mosca & Duncum defeated Gate & Destroyer by pinfall when Duncum pinned Destroyer after a flying bulldog at 9:35 [Mosca & Duncum retain the RCW Tag Team Titles]

River City Wrestling #116 Winnipeg Convention Centre, Winnipeg, MB We are welcomed by the announcers Ron Strong & Mike Stone. After the last meeting between #1 contender Ray Stevens and RCW champion Chris Lyon where the champ got DQ'd for the actions of his valet Tawney England; a rematch has been ordered by Marty Goldstein. Tonight..In a STEEL CAGE. The show opens with a surprising return. Former RCW wrestler Kenny Ho has returned, much to the displeasure of the RCW fans. However, he is apparently now a manager, not a wrestler, and is dressed in a tuxedo and bowler hat. He says that he was held back by Marty Goldstein for "obvious" reasons, but now he is back to wreak havoc on River City Wrestling. He also says that he should be shown more respect by RCW, therefore he will now be introduced as Mr. Ho. The crowd gives a lukewarm response to his promo but come to their feet when he brings out his new wrestler - Hacksaw Butch Reed!! Opening Bout: Butch Reed, 264 lbs., Kansas City, Missouri (/w Mr. Ho) v Chris Pepper, 240 lbs., Winnipeg, Manitoba Squash match. Reed overpowers Pepper. He sets him up with a flying shoulderblock, then climbs to the top turnbuckle and comes off with a clothesline to get the easy win. Butch Reed defeated Chris Pepper by pinfall after a top rope clothesline at 2:21 Bout #2 The Destroyer v Dynamite Kid Re-match of sorts because DKid won an earlier match-up in the #1 contenders mini-tournament. Two excellent technicians who can both fly, ground, and do impact style moves. They traded suplexes, crucifixes, planchas, and top rope dives. In the end the match spilled outside where the two men brawled, unwilling to listen to Referee Wyatt Hall's instructions to return to the ring. Double countout at 9:24
Bout #3 RCW Television Title Match The Bounty Hunter (champion) v Keith Hart This has to be about Hart's third chance at the title. He got no closer to it this time then the other times. Bit of a lull in the programs for the Bounty Hunter. Bounty Hunter defeated Keith Hart by pinfall after the Lariat at 6:10 [Bounty Hunter retains the RCW Television Title]
Main Event CAGE MATCH RCW Heavyweight Title Match Chris Lyon (champion), 236 lbs., Winnipeg, Manitoba (/w Tawney England) v Ray Stevens, 247 lbs., San Fransisco, California Stevens had the psychological edge on Lyon from the start, as it was obvious that this Lyon did not like being caged. Stevens wasted little time using the cage walls to his advantage, slamming the champ into them and then rubbing his head across them until he bled. Apparently Stevens decided that Lyon should never walk again because he worked him over with a racked leg lock from a kneeling position, followed by a figure-four leglock. After those moves failed to gain the submission the Crippler got Lyon to scream with a leg scissor split leg lock, basically seperating Lyon's legs from behind. Tawney began to climb the outside of the cage which distracted the referee first, then Stevens, allowing Lyon to escape. Lyon covertly put on a pair of brass knux and nailed Stevens. He put the foreign object back in his tights and went to work on Stevens using the cage walls to bust him wide open. Both men were now bleeding profusely. Lyon was still having trouble standing so he did as much damage to Stevens as he could on the ground, but when he tried for a sling shot suplex, his legs failed him. This caused him to go for the brass knux once again. He nailed Stevens while the ref was distracted by England, but incredibly the challenger managed to drape a foot over the bottom rope to break the subsequent count. Lyon tried for the Boston crab but he was still shaky and Stevens sent him head first into the cage walls with a kick in the ass. Stevens went to work on the champ with a belly to back suplex, airplane spin toss, and then a piledriver. Somehow the champ managed to muster up enough energy to get a shoulder up and break the count. Stevens then climbed to the top turnbuckle planning on hitting the bombs away and ending the match. However, Tawney England managed to climb the side of the cage and stick a pipe through the cage wall, causing Stevens to wobble and have to jump down to the mat below. Stevens turned around to confront England, and that opened up an opportunity for a partially recovered champ to charge him from behind. Stevens though anticipated the move, and stepped to the side, causing Lyon to hit the turnbuckles. However, upon impact Lyon's head snapped back, catching Stevens right in the chin. The two combatants dropped backward, with Stevens on his back and Lyon laid out on top of him. Neither man was moving. Referee George Gadasky counted the 1, 2, 3, and the champ held on by a fluke. Chris Lyon defeated Ray Stevens after a backward headbutt at 13:45 [Chris Lyon retains the RCW Heavyweight Title] That's it for another edition of River City Wrestling. See ya next week.
