PINNACLE: Really Tied The Room Together

WRITER'S NOTE: Trying a slightly different format, hopefully the last change to the circuitThe night opened up with Edge coming down to the ring, he had his ribs taped and still
walked with a slight limp from the sneak attack by Chris Sabin and Roderick Strong and the
subsequent defeat at the hands of Alex Shelley on our last show ...Enter the 36 Chambers.
Edge grabbed a microphone from ringside and stepped gingerly through the ropes and into the ring.
EDGE: The last time you saw me I had been beaten to a pulp by the cowardly trifecta known
as Cream. Seems like these young guys want to knock the ol' veteran off and soften me up a
bit. I'm not a sore loser though, I come out here tonight in the middle of this ring to
challenge Alex Shelley to a match right here, right now!
The fans cheer heavily and start looking to the entranceway for Alex Shelley. In form Shelley comes out, a microphone conveniently in his hand.
EDGE: Do you walk around with that thing attached to your hand Shelley?
Shelley smirks before speaking.
SHELLEY: I'll be happy to give you another beating tonight Edge, you won't have your silly
accusations of my teammates attacking you to use as a crutch when I stand alone in the ring.
EDGE: You and I both know that your boys attacked me to soften me up, I'm going to prove
you can't beat me one-on-one right now.
Edge throws the microphone down as a referee comes to ringside, Shelley slides under the
ropes and goes to a neutral corner as the ref calls for the bell.
OPENING MATCH
Edge
[vs]
Alex ShelleyShelley tried to gain the early advantage by attacking at Edge's ribs but the veteran turned
the tables and attacked at his opponent's ribs with kicks and punches, trying to soften him
up for the Spear and take some of the wind out of the younger, faster competitor. Shelley
fought back, gaining the advantage by taking out Edge's legs and keeping him on the mat
while showing off his wrestling skills. Alex continued the all-around assault with a flying
forearm and a big elbowdrop from the top rope that got a near fall. The fans were behind
Edge all the way, willing him for the comeback as Shelley looked to be in decisive control.
Shelley ran at Edge in the corner to try diving at his stomach and injured ribs but Edge
moved out of the way and Shelley went crashing shoulder first into the ringpost. The
referee helped Shelley get untangled and Alex turned right around into a brutal Spear that
nearly folded him in half! Edge got the 1-2-3 and the crowd went bonkers.
Edge pinned Alex Shelley with the Spear in 0:15:47.
Rating: **** 1/4After Stevie Richards decided to leave PINNACLE Tyson Kidd has been left without a partner,
fellow Canadian Robert Roode has long been on the search for a partner after his initial
teammate Orlando Jordan left PINNACLE early on. Both men agreed to start tagging with one
another and their first match as a team was here tonight!
TAG TEAM MATCH
Victor Farquad/Ace Strong
[vs]
Robert Roode/Tyson KiddDespite it being their first match as teammates you couldn't see any sort of learning curve
for the team of Roode and Kidd as they worked over Farquad and Strong with ease, Kidd hit a
beautiful springboard dropkick to the back of Ace Strong's head and Roode locked him in an
inside cradle to secure an easy victory.
Robert Roode and Tyson Kidd defeated Victor Farquad and Ace Strong when R. Roode pinned Strong after an inside cradle in 0:04:20.
Rating: * 1/4Eight man tag action was up next with two tag teams teaming with four seperate singles
wrestlers.
EIGHT MAN TAG
MVP/Evan Bourne/Dolph Ziggler/Icarus
vs.
The American Wolves/Jack Swagger/Wade BarrettAlthough primarily a tag wrestler Icarus has been hung out to dry by former partner Gran
Akuma, who aprbuptly left PINNACLE. Dolph Ziggler and Jack Swagger have been battling back and forth for quite some time with Ziggler coming out on top recently. MVP and Evan Bourne lost a match against the American Wolves and were looking for some redemption here tonight.
The action was as expected clustered and fast-paced, the referee had a hard time controlling
the mayhem as both teams went toe-to-toe with one another. Swagger came out of nowhere hitting a Doctor Bomb on Ziggler to take the fall and the match for his team, gaining some redemption after the brutal beating Ziggler put on him not too long ago.
The American Wolves (Davey Richards and Eddie Edwards), Jack Swagger and Wade Barrett defeated Montel Vontavious Porter, Evan Bourne, Dolph Ziggler and Icarus when Swagger pinned Ziggler after the Doctor Bomb in 0:06:56.
Rating: ** 1/2Originally Chris Hero and Mike Quackenbush were scheduled to wrestle in a tag match tonight
but unexpected travel issues from Quackenbush meant Chris Hero got a taste of singles action in PINNACLE. His test tonight was against the impressive Skip Sheffield.
SINGLES MATCH
Chris Hero
[vs]
Skip SheffieldThese two worked very well with one another, putting on a great match for the fans.
Sheffield used his power to gain an early advantage against Hero but when he tried taking
the action to the mat Hero turned the tides and showed off some of his great chain wrestling
technique, for his size Hero is one of the most well-rounded wrestlers in the world and has
talent in almost any style. Sheffield wasn't backing down though, gaining a near fall on
consecutive German Suplexes and another after a clothesline that rocked Hero hard. Chris
showed some resielency though and fought back, using elbow strikes to the face to knock
Sheffield loopy, Hero hit a rolling elbow smash that looked to knock Sheffield out on his
feet but didn't knock him to the mat. Hero pointed out to the crowd then at his elbow,
bouncing off the ropes and hitting another rolling elbow smash to Sheffield's jaw, sending a
mixture of sweat, spit, and blood flying through the air. The pin was academic as Sheffield
was obviously disorientated. Hero comes away with an impressive singles victory.
Chris Hero pinned Skip Sheffield after a rolling elbow smash in 0:10:37.
Rating: **** 1/4It was now time for the first of our Co-Main Events. CM Punk and Daniel Bryan have been
battling back and forth without either man gaining pinfall or submission victory over the
other. Tonight was a night for actions, not words as Punk defended the PINNACLE Title
against Bryan once more.
PINNACLE Title Match
Daniel Bryan
[vs]
CM Punk (C)Like their last encounter which ended in a 60 minute draw Bryan and Punk tried counter
wrestling one another and once again Bryan proved to be the better wrestler on the mat,
frustrating Punk at many turns with reversals the champ was not expecting. At one point
Punk broke a hammerlock and leveled Bryan with a frustrated kick to the shin and a heavy
punch to the face. The fans booed heavily as Punk blew loose strands of hair out of his
face. Thus began an offensive barrage with kicks to the sternum and legs of Bryan, Punk
tried to reopen the wound that was almost healed on Bryan's forehead from his attack with
the PINNACLE Title in their tag team match. Bryan fought back and locked the champ in the
Cattle Mutiliation in the middle of the ring. It looked like there was no way for Punk to
escape the hold and he would have to give up. Showing amazing lower body strength Punk
wiggled himself towards the ropes and reached his leg out, finally getting a break. Bryan
was visibly upset while Punk looked exhausted.
It looked like this was his chance to take the title and Bryan climbed to the top rope,
waiting for Punk to get to his feet. Right when he did Bryan jumped off with a missile
dropkick but Punk had the wherewithall to swat Daniel's legs away and not take much of an
impact, Bryan landed flat on his neck and back much to the chagrin of the fans in
attendance. Punk grabbed Bryan slowly off the mat and lifted him on his shoulders, bringing
him down with a GTS. One nonchalant cover later and Punk was surprised when Bryan's left
shoulder came up off the mat just before the three count. The fans nearly blew the roof off
the building, cheering Bryan on and trying to will him up and off the mat. Punk, visibly
frustrated once again picked Daniel up again, lifting him onto his shoulders and bringing
him down for another GTS, this one especially vicious because of the impact of Punk's knee
on Bryan's forehead resulting in his head violently snapping back. Punk made the cover
again, this time hooking both legs and secured a three count. The fans were incensed while
Punk looked relieved, clutching at his title.
Bryan on the other hand lied motionless on the ground, the referee went to check on him and
called for personnel from the back. Punk just walked away, holding his PINNACLE title high
in the air for the fans to see as they berated him on the way to the back. Bryan was loaded
up on a stretched and secured in a neck brace for precautionary measures.
CM Punk pinned Daniel Bryan with the G.T.S. in 0:28:21.
Daniel Bryan suffered a neck injury. He will be out for approximately 4 cards.

(CM Punk retained the PINNACLE Title.)Former PINNACLE Tag Champs Jerry Lynn and John Morrison wanted their guaranteed rematch here tonight against new champs Eddie Kingston and Brodie Lee. Morrison and Lynn had an all business approach to the ring, not slapping hands with the fans just focusing on the task at hand while entering the ring. Kingston and Lee are always all business and came to the ring, soaking in the boos from the fans in attendance. Lee and Kingston have been extremely dominant since debuting in PINNACLE, running through the tag division and being 2 of the final 3 men in the big Cibernetico match earlier in the year.
MAIN EVENT
PINNACLE TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH
Jerry Lynn/John Morrison
[vs]
Eddie Kingston/Brodie Lee (C)Another great match between these four men, Lynn and Morrison made the initial mistake of
trying to stand toe-to-toe with the bruising Kingston and Lee and were beaten down early on
in the match. Lynn employed his wrestling skill against Kingston eventually and wore the
"Last of a Dying Breed" down with a front chancery and a single leg crab. Morrison and Lynn
cut the ring in half, continually working Kingston over and leaving the biggest man in the
match--Brodie Lee on the outside apron. Lee tried several times to come in and interfere
but each time was cut off by the referee while Lynn and Morrison used quick tags to keep a
continual assault on Kingston. The sense in the arena was that Lynn and Morrison would win
their titles back tonight employing this strategy but as the saying goes you never put the
cart before the horse. Kingston, hobbled and favoring his left leg fought back with chops
to Morrison that immediately brought bruising to John's chest. Brodie Lee reached out with
all of his 6'8" frame and made the tag with Kingston, stepping over the top rope and coming
in and laying waste to Morrison with a Running Big Boot. Instead of making the pin Lee
threw Morrison into his own corner and taunted at Lynn to step into the ring.
Lynn obliged and showed great agility for someone of any age, especially a man over 40 years of age by springboarding to the top rope and flying off with a beautiful dropkick right to
the mouth of Lee. This staggered the big man into the ropes. Surprisingly Eddie Kingston tagged himself in and rushed as best as he could on one leg slapping Lynn right across the face! This pissed Jerry off and he tried to take his best shot at Kingston with a punch but Eddie ducked and slapped him across the other side of his face! The fans were booing Kingston while Lynn had a shocked look on his face. The look was quickly replaced by a palm strike from Kingston, bloodying Lynn's lip and sending him rocking back. Kingston whipped Lynn into the ropes and bounced off the other side, nailing him with his Back Fist to the Future. A cover by Kingston and a cutoff of Morrison by Brodie Lee later and the champs have retained.
Brodie Lee and Eddie Kingston defeated Jerry Lynn and John Morrison when
E. Kingston pinned J. Lynn with the Back Fist to the Future in 0:17:01.
