So.... When did we get back to having Attitude-Era style promos, and the gratuitous use of the words "Ass" and "Suck" while actually being allowed to be agressive towards the fans as a heel?
Also.... Heyman shoutout was unexpected and mildly cool...
ROH shoutout was sureal. (Hi Colt Cabana!)

This was a pretty kick ass RAW, truth be told. Couple of good matches (tornado tag was great), crowd was hot, and Punk is fucking untouchable right now.
And hell, even Mark Henry is money.

The tornado tag match, while not MEANING anything, was probably the best tag match on Raw in.... When was Hart Dynasty facing the Usos?
And Mark Henry.... I think they FINALLY realised that "Big Strong Mean Character" needs also to be "ROYALLY PISSED OFF AT THE WORLD" to round it out. He's actually almost fun to watch. Scratch that, I actually WANT to see him and Show have a match.... I never, ever thought I'd type that out in my lifetime.
Ever.
And Punk.... Well... You kinda knew it was about to be a hot promo when he said "Yeah, I'm a Heyman guy"....
Bashing Hogan? No problem: He's with "the" other company (Or, now, ONE of "The Other Companies" thanks to that promo).
Bashing The Rock? Punk's a Heel. Makes sense.
Bashing the fans? Same.
After that, though, I quickly went from "blink" to "jaw dropped" to "floored".
I kinda wanna know the Vince McMahon/Bully story.... (Especially after the comment about the company not even being better after Vince is dead....)

Mark Henry has ruled since his ECW run. Even when he was being fed to guys like Batista and the Nexus to lay out he was good. He was the perfect "Defend the company" guy as a face and as a heel... you get this. I thought they should have pulled the trigger on pushing him when he jumped to Raw and beat Orton. I'd really hate to see them blow another opportunity with him. Give him a World title run and see what happens.
And the Punk promo. Good god. Best "shoot" interview in quite a long time. Perhaps in my whole life time. Perhaps ever. I'm very surprised they let him go out there and say all that... and it was 100% Punk. You know most of those things are exactly what he thinks.
It's a good night on Raw when R-Truth ends up being the 3rd best thing on the show.

Just realised that Punk was wearing a "Stone Cold" T-Shirt during that promo. Gotta love a guy who thinkgs of even the LITTLE things to get over... Another thing I noticed... When was the last time a heel cut a promo and *DIDN'T* get "WHAT? "'d every 3 seconds? Not a single WHAT chant during the entire thing. Shows you that Punk can get an audience to actually pay attention.

Never in my life did I think Mark Henry would ever generate a "holy shit" chant from the crowd. Yeah, him smashing the Big Show through the side of the cage was pretty flippin' cool (even if the guy-throws-opponent-through-the-side-of-the-cage thing has already been done at least twice in WWE, by Kane in 2003 and by Big Show himself in his debut in 1999), but still, it was surreal seeing the crowd respond so well to anything Mark Henry does. I've always thought that, even though he wasn't the best worker, he never got a fair shake from the more analytical fans.
Thinking over that CM Punk promo, especially with the McMahon-bashing at the end, I'm wondering whether WWE might be angling for a CM Punk-Triple H feud if Punk ends up sticking around. It could be a logical progression from here, and I don't think that feud has been done before, at least not directly.

I think what people often overlook is how good Mark Henry is at interacting with the crowd. His appearance last night really brought that front and center, though. Having him just lumbering around and yelling at hecklers. Most guys would probably go out there and just stare at the opponent. They might say something to the crowd, but they wouldn't respond to individuals in the crowd. After watching Tough Enough I think one of the most important things WWE wants out of their workers is to be able to bring the crowd into the match (or angle in this case). You know, people always want their indy favorites in WWE, but how many of them really do that? It's more just they've got MOVEZ~!! True success is only achieved when you are able to actively engage the audience, whether it is in front of 100 people or 10,000 people.

The current Punk storyline has actually managed to get me back into watching RAW (two weeks in a row + the youtube-promo). Granted, I don't really like much of the rest that's going on, but it's worth it.
And if Punk is so heavily cheered in Boston, think about what's gonna happen in Chicago. Please give him 5 minutes on the mic in addition to the match against Cena. And please, let Punk win the belt..

My HOPE:
Punk and Cena have a heavy, hard, brutal match, in which the ref gets dropped... Cena's about the FU Punk, and the New Nexus interfere... Ref doesn't see it cuz he's down.
Punk gets the win. OMG! Cena's Fired! Punk's leaving with the belt! Oh noes!
Cena goes ballistic, and DESTROYS Punk, DESTROYS the New Nexus, and DESTROYS the ringside area.
He finally comes to his senses, realises he's done, walks up to the ramp, turns and sallutes as Cole and King are in shock (Ref, Punk, and New Nexus are still out).
As the announcers bid us Farewell for the evening, and Cena starts to go backstage.... The MitB Winner's music hits (Let's just say Rey for the hell of it... They had a killer rivalry).
Fans go nuts.
Cena pats him on the back and sends him to the ring as Cole reminds us "The stipulation is that if Punk LEAVES CHICAGO with the belt, Cena's fired: If Rey wins, Cena still has a job!" King loves it.
Rey brings the case to the ring, where the ref is still way groggy. Punk is starting to stir. New Nexus are dead.
Rey's explaining to the ref what to do, the ref is trying to clear the cobwebs, Rey's getting frantic...
The ref gets to the ropes (Back turned to Rey who's ready to pin), explaining to the ringside announcer what to do....
Colt Cabana (who's already stated he'll be in attendance) jumps the guardrail, kills Rey, drags Punk on top, leaves the ring, just in time for the announcement to be made that the match is official, the bell rings... The ref (still groggy) turns around, sees Punk pinning Rey.... Long 1...... LOOOOONG 2...... REALLY long 3... Punk wins!
McMahon comes out screaming, sending the WWE lockerroom to the ring to "GET MY BELT BACK!!!!!" as Colt Cabana helps Punk into the fans, and they leave the arena with Cole or King yelling "NOT LIKE THIS!" as they fade to black.
And thus, a myriad of interesting angles are formed.
And it'll never happen V_V

I was thinking of a similar scenario, just not the Colt Cabana part, but Punk beats Cena (the only way this is not a huge letdown, if Cena wins, its all been crap) and then whomever wins Raw's Money in the Bank (I am going with Alberto) cashes in at the end and wins the title back, that way Punk doesn't leave with the title, but his storyline has a satisfying end ...

That's pretty much what I figure WILL happen.
The problem is: EVERY time Money in the Bank has been cashed in, the title's changed hands. Other than Ken Anderson, pretty much if you have the case, YOU WILL BE CHAMP.
The way I wrote it out, everyone will EXPECT the MitB winner to walk out as champ, and the surprise will be that much bigger if they DON'T: Who *WOULDN'T* tune in Monday to see what's next?
Plus, it would de-program people from thinking "MitB winner == AutoChamp" a little bit, giving the matches they have a bit more suspense.
Lastly, WWE wouldn't have to worry about (the inevitable) unifcation of the titles: One's just out of the picture completely.

personally, I would love to see it go down as you suggest. Having Colt and Gallows involved would be great. I really want to see Punk leave with the title and actually show up in ROH or New Japan with the belt. I just don't see that happening.

Of course not, unless WWE and ROH actually signed a deal (Considering the Cabana and Gallows name dropping, and Hero and Castagnoli apparently going to WWE, a ROH invasion angle isn't TOTALLY impossible..... Right?)
I don't think WWE is dumb enough to legit put Super-Cena over Punk (Even if MitB winner beats Cena in that case), but I also don't think WWE will let Punk (legitimately) leave WWE as champ.
I could see a "Chicago Screwjob" courtesy McMahon before that happens.

Maybe WWE will snatch up the best ROH guys to restart the Cruiserweight division?

Having Punk go to ROH as champ, and Cena follow him as challenger is more likely ;->

McMahon tries to Montreal Punk, Cena stops him.
Punk wins.
MitB winner doesn't beat Punk (Punk KOs him before the match can start)
Punk exits through the crowd.
Holy Shit. THEY GOT IT RIGHT

I am as surprised as anyone. I hoped that they wouldn't put Cena over Punk, and thought it would be Punk winning, only to have MitB winner take the belt from Punk, which I would have been fine with.
But you are correct. They got it right. Now to see where this goes tomorrow night.

*THIS*
*THIS* is how to continue this angle.
Having Punk show up at events (Cubs game on Monday, Comic-Con, etc) with the title, and having the 'NET cover it.

Well, I would have strung it out for a couple of more weeks, at least...
... But at least he came out to the music I HOPED he'd have come out to at Money in the Bank ;->
(And I think King was right: I don't think Cena threw a punch... He actually tried to have a match with Mysterio... AND IT WASN'T TERRIBLE! What a concept...)

So Rey beats Miz to win the title tonight... ...but then has to defend the title the same night against CENA. Rey kicks Cena gimpy. Another big dueling "Lets Go Cena" vs "Cena Sucks" chant. Cena wins the damn title anyway. When Cena pulled up Rey to hug him after the match I was wondering if he might pick him up for another AA. But no: still no Cena hell turn. Then "Cult Of Personality" by Living Colour starts playing. WTF? CM PUNK??!?!?!?!?! (Most Appropriate Theme Music Ever?) Staredown in the ring. Cena raises his title to a pop. Punk raises his title to a bigger pop. And WWE AGAIN blows their load on an angle way too soon.
