USWA Challenge Taped: 6/23/2003 Aired: 6/28/2003 Hosts: Scott Hudson and Dave Brown
Announcers run down the show.
Scott Hudson and Dave Brown welcome the fans at home for watching and tell the fans that this weeks Challenge is coming to them from Charlotte, NC. Fans in the background give out a standard "Whooooo" when the host city gets mentioned.
Brown says that the USWA just wrapped up another great show in Memphis last week, and we are in full preparation for the G1 Global Tournament that will crown our new Global champion in just under three weeks time.
Hudson says that the USWA is happy to be spending a few summer weeks in Charlotte and they have put together a big show today including a big time main event. Raven and Konnan will team up against Vampiro and Latin Lover in a tornado rules tag team matchup. All men will be in the ring at the same time.
Brown also quickly mentiones that Jr. Heavyweight Prince Devitt will take on a kid that has gotten some unexpected popularity as of late Ryu Taguchi.
Brian Christopher will be in action and we will have words from the X-Division champion Bobby Fish. All this and more so stay with us!
(commercial break)
Bad Intentions (Giant Bernard and Karl Anderson) defeated The Bad Street Boys (Christian York and Joey Matthews) when K. Anderson pinned J. Matthews after a roll up in 0:07:27. Rating: ** 3/4
A fired up pair of tag team champions came out and wanted to fight The Island Boys tonight. Corino said that one of these two teams are not going to make it out of the arena in one piece! Bill Dundee ran out to tell the champs that the Island Boys are NOT in the building which really got under Karl Andersons skin. Dundee tells Corino that he agrees that these two teams need to take their matches to the next level and suggests the Island Boys vs Bad Intentions IN A STEEL CAGE, opening night of the G1 Tournament! Corino accepts the match and says it will be the biggest challenge of his tag teams career. Out walks Daizee Haze who says her team is trying to make a name for themselves here in the USWA. After a little locker room humor directed at herself from Corino, Bad Intentions accepts the match. A great athletic perfomance from the Bad Street Boys, but Anderson catches Matthews with a rollup for the pin. Corino goes on to brag that not only does he have the strongest team in the USWA, but the smartest as well.
Prince Devitt pinned Ryusuke Taguchi with the Bloody Sunday in 0:08:27. Rating: *** 1/4
Devitt told Lance Russell that he was impressed with the fighting spirit of Ryusuke Taguchi challenging the heavyweight champion to a match. That is the type of fighting spirit that breeds competition in this industry. Devitt faced off and got the victory over Taguchi and shook his hand after. Devitt grabbed the mic and told the fans that the USWA should look into opening up a Jr. Heavyweight division for guys like themselves. The fans seem to agree and applauded.
Bobby Fish pinned Christopher Daniels with the Falcon Arrow in 0:06:23. Rating: **** 1/4 [Frank Morell interfered against Christopher Daniels.]
Prematch interview had Frank Morell coming out with Bobby Fish. Frank had a list of names that Fish has defeated as the champion. Fish concludes that he has beaten everyone that the division has to offer, and it's time that the USWA brings in new talent to compete! Christopher Daniels comes out claiming to have left the heavyweight division for a shot at the gold and has yet to receive it. The match was made for TV. Fish retained the title when his personal assistant Frank Morell got up on the rope to distract Daniels.
Brian Christopher pinned Chad Austin with the Tennessee Jam in 0:05:03. Rating: ** 1/4
Christopher made short work of his opponent tonight and had a chance to talk with Scott Hudson about the upcoming G1 tournament. Christopher talks about a dream of returning to the USWA and winning the Global title. Low-Ki comes out and tells Christopher that he hates to burst his bubble, but since they are in the same block of the tournament, the chances are slim Christopher will be leaving with the gold. A shoving match took place until officials got the two seperated.
Tornado Tag Team Match Raven and Konnan defeated Vampiro and Latin Lover in 0:08:52 x Raven defeated Vampiro (partner: Latin Lover) after the Evenflow DDT in 0:08:52 Rating: **** 1/4
Our main event lived up to the billing as Raven and Konnan continued to make a great team. Dundee scheduled a tornado rules tag match, meaning all competitors were in the ring at the same time. The brawling between Vampiro and Raven has gone to a new level after they were handcuffed to each other at the Mid South Coliseum. Raven hit Vampiro with the DDT and Lover wasn't able to make it to his partner in time to break it up. Frustration is starting to set in with Latin Lover who thought eliminating Konnan from the USWA would be an easy task. Now that Raven has entered the picture, things are starting to fall apart.

Steel cage tag match should be good. I really like Bad Intentions. Good win for Prince Devitt. But isn't the X-division more or less the Jr. Heavyweight division? I know we could split hairs about the no weight limits thing and this and that, but adding a Jr. Heavyweight division would seem a little redundant, IMO. Another good defense for Bobby Fish. How long has he held the title? Seems like forever. A good reign for him. Low-Ki would kick Christopher's head off. Strong main event. That's a fun feud all together. Oh, by the way, you might want to check the date of that card. I think you jumped 8 years in the future.

Oh, by the way, you might want to check the date of that card. I think you jumped 8 years in the future. Thanks for the heads up on the date. I can't believe that's only the first time I've done that! I am mulling over a change in my title picture obviously with the idea of unifying the Global and heavyweight titles...and southern.. Chances are sometime whether it be G1 or another PPV in 2003 they will be eventually unified. This would give me 1 title in the "heavyweight division." which would be known as the Unified world heavyweight title. Then I'd have an X Division title which would mean both Jr's and Heavyweights could challenge for. A cruiser weight title would be a STRICT 200 lbs or less title. Right now 1/2 my X-Division guys are over 200. Guys like Taguchi, Devitt and others would have an entire division to compete in. It's a thought I've been taking into consideration. On the other hand I also thought about 6 man tag titles, but haven't really weighed the positives and negatives of those titles. Bobby Fish was an x-division competitor that couldn't quite get over the hump. In late 2002 and early 2003 Fish had opportunities at the X-title but couldn't get the job done. Fish was the first member of Steve Corino's "Corino Family." Once he signed on with Steve, he was able to get the win over 2 time champion Steve Bradley and has been the staple of the division since February. Frank Morell who was (in real life and in my fed.) An old time referee (who is very lenient) made some bad decisions during big matches and was fired as referee. Cornio brought him into the "Family" to be the personal assistant to the X-Division champion. Cornio doesn't come down to the ring with Fish right now, because Morell is kind of the "Ralphus" to Bobby Fish as Fish is to Jericho. I have a nice storyline idea for the champ, but he has had a great 2003. I am FINALLY home for the weekend with no major plans, so I am going to write up Velocity tonight and post it, then try my best to finish up the next set of TV tapings so I can get the G1 tournament rolling next week.

USWA Velocity TV Taped: June 23rd, 2003 Airs June 28th, 2003 Charlotte, NC Announcers: Lance Russell and Corey Maclin
Footage from the Mid South Coliseum
The show opens with highlights of our sixth Mid South Coliseum show. All the major happenings are highlighted in this opening package including....
-The finish of the Island Boys vs Bad Intentions when Ekmo put his hands on the official to get the DQ.
-Konnan defeating Rey Bucanero and the outside brawl as Raven and Vampiro were handcuffed to one another.
-Ahmed Johnson defeating Collyer for the #1 contenders spot.
-Harry Smith defeating Doug Williams with his use of illegal objects.
-Taz defending the title and winning the southern title over Steve Bradley in our main event.
Lance Russell tells the fans that if they didn't make their way to the Mid South Coliseum they missed out on a big night of action.
Steve Corino and Jun Akiyama in the ring talk about G1
As Lance and Corey finish up talking about the action at the Mid South Coliseum, Steve Corino and Jun Akiyama make their way to the middle of the ring.
Corino reminds the fans of a major event that is about to go down in the USWA, which will crown the 10th Global champion in the history of the company. Everyone knows the names in the tournament, everyone knows the rules of the tournament, everyone is ready for a historic week in company history.
Corino claims that his man Akiyama is the clear favorite to win the B block, and that he came to the Corino family, not just to make a couple dollars taking out Latin Lover for Konnan, but also to get his career back on track. Jun is the former USWA Heavyweight champion with the most title defenses on record. After Akiyama wins the G1 he will be in line to face the heavyweight champion. Ahmed Johnson or Taz, it doesn't matter. Akiyama will be your first Unified Heavyweight champion!
(The music of Tanahashi plays as he makes his way to the ring.)
Tanahashi and Akiyama have a face to face confrontation. Via a translator the fans are told that Tanahashi told Akiyama that one of the reasons he came to the USWA was to compete against Jun Akiyama. Tanahashi said that two years ago when Jun put his name on the map with his heavyweight title run, he opened the door for guys like himself and Taguchi to come to the United States and prove themselves. At the G1, Tanahashi is going to prove himself against Akiyama.
Akiyama tells Tanahashi that nobody in the USWA is going to get in the way of his goal to become the Global champion, and that even if he has to take down his fellow countryman, he is willing to do that for the title.
Tanahashi tells Akiyama to be ready for the match of his life, because they will meet on opening night of the G1 tournament.
Steve Corino jumps in and suggests that Tanahashi takes on one of his fellow Corino Family members. Out comes Karl Anderson who demands a match right now. An official is summoned to the ring and the match begins.
Hiroshi Tanahashi pinned Karl Anderson with the Dragon Suplex hold in 0:10:38. Rating: ****
Tanahashi showed he is going to be a factor in the G1 tournament. With all eyes on him, he was able to fend off Karl Anderson of the Corino family. He basically called out Akiyama and told him the be ready for their match on opening night.
Ahmed talks to Bill Dundee about his title shot.
Lance Russell brings out Ahmed Johnson our number one contender and gives him a compliment on winning his match against Collyer at the Mid South Coliseum with the opportunity to face Taz in the next title defense.
Ahmed tells Lance that he appreciates the comment, but this has been a long time coming. Johnson says that he has been waiting in line for his heavyweight title shot for months, but Taz has always been afraid to get in the ring with a guy thats bigger and stronger than he is. Johnson says that Taz doesn't intimidate him. He has been in battle with much bigger bullies.
Bill Dundee makes his way out to talk to Ahmed and tells him that the victory last week was impressive. Chad has been making his way up the ranks, but was stopped in his tracks at the Mid South Coliseum. Dundee tells Ahmed as much as he'd love to make it seem like their is a conspiracy against him, it's just not true. Ahmed Johson is GUARANTEED to get the next heavyweight title shot. That match will be signed four our RETURN to Pay Per View on August 24th from Manhattan, NY.
Lance inquires about more details on the card. Dundee tells him that the name of the card will be called Global Warfare and will feature all the action that comes off the results of the G1 tournament. Our main event will feature Taz defending the title against Ahmed Johnson!
Johnson takes a dig at Dundee for not putting him in the G1 to try and recapture his Global title, but says that this is the kind of news he has been waiting for all year!
Lance tells the fans to stick around because Chad Collyer will be here in action when we return from our commercial break.
Chad Collyer defeated Alex Shelley when Alex Shelley passed out in theTexas Cloverleaf in 0:07:12. Rating: **** 1/4
Before the match backstage Dean Malenko tries to keep Collyers spirits high. After his loss to Johnson, Malenko felt that Chad has been distracted, but Dean reminds him that he will compete in the A block and have a great opportunity to be the next Global champion.....if he can beat Malenko in the finals. After a good laugh Collyer went out to the ring and got a victory to get back on track before the tournament begins.
Steve Bradley pinned King Fale after a powerslam in 0:04:49.Rating: *** 1/2 [Trinity interfered against Steve Bradley.]
Bradley was able to fend off the interference of Trinity and still get a win over King Fale in a quick match. After the match Bradley made it clear that his loss to Taz was not going to stop his momentum as he prepares for the G1 tournament.
CM Punk calls out Bobby Fish for a title shot.
CM Punk heads to the ring with the mic complaining about some of the matches that took place this weekend.
Punk says he turned on his television this morning and watched Christopher Daniels taking on Bobby Fish on Challenge.
Punk said that he finds that so funny considering he is the one with the best record in the X-Division, and thinks it's about time he got what he has coming to him, an X-Division title match with Bobby Fish. Punk says that if his memory serves him right, he is the one who defeated Daniels at Extreme Dreams. That makes Punk the number one contender to the title.
Frank Morell comes out to the ring. He tells punk that he is here to represent the champion..... before he can get another word out CM Punk clocks him in the head. Morell rolls out of the ring running to the back holding his head.
CM Punk says two words...."title match".
(commercial break)
The Island Boys (OG Ekmo and Kimo) defeated The New Bolsheviks (Vladimir Kozlov and Alex Koslov) when Kimo pinned V. Kozlov after a moonsault in 0:08:04. Rating: ** 3/4
Island Boys get another victory over their rivals in the New Bolsheviks. After the match OG Ekmo tells Corey Maclin that the steel cage tag is something they couldn't pass up when the opportunity was presented to them. If his emotions get out of control, the ref won't be the one to decide the outcome of the match. Kimo says that this is going to be the most hardcore match they have been in since they arrived on the scene in the USWA, and in Detroit, Michigan, they will make the Sheik proud when they take it to the extreme!
Ahmed Johnson pinned CM Punk with the Pearl River Plunge in 0:05:27. Rating: *** 3/4
Before the match started, Bill Dundee came out and told the fans that he was tired of answering questions on why some guys are in the G1 and why others are not. Two of those wrestlers will face off in the main event. Ahmed Johnson and CM Punk were told they would be in the main event tonight. Johnson was able to hit the pearl river plunge on Punk when Frank Morell came out and hit Punk with Bobby Fish's X-Division title. Ahmed got his hand raised in victory as Punk gave Morell a staredown to end the show.
Backstage Notes:
After the show tonight Matt Sydal quit the company effective immediatley.
Also the rumors on the internet have been confirmed that the USWA has released AJ Styles from his contract. AJ is a former USWA champion and had taken a backseat as of late as a member of the Corino family, but both parties agreed that it would be in their best interest to let him out of his contract.
With the release of these two members, the USWA has been in talks to bring back some members from the past. It has been rumored that two former champions have resigned with the company and will be back in action soon!
The G1 Tournament is right around the corner, but tonight we learned about Global Warfare. This will be the third PPV of the year presented by the USWA.
We have one more set of TV tapings from Charlotte with an episode of Challenge and Velocity, then it's wheels up to Detroit Michigan for 7 days of round robin action to crown the 10th USWA Global champion!

USWA Challenge Taped: 6/24/2003 Aired: 7/5/2003 Charlotte, NC Hosts: Scott Hudson and Dave Brown
Announcers run down the show.
Dave Brown and Scott Hudson are at the ringside announcers table and welcome the fans to saturday morning wrestling...USWA Challenge!
Dave Brown says that most of the bags are pact and the USWA production crew is headed up to Detroit to prepare for the week ahead because tomorrow night is the opening night of the USWA G1 Tournament! Today on challenge, we have a few matches signed that will let us take a look at some of the competitors in the tournament.
Scott jumps in and tells him that Vampiro is going to be in action this morning. Vampiro will be competing in the B Block of competitors, and also Dean Malenko will be in action.
Dave announces a big main event that has been signed for tonight as Rey Bucanero will face off against Brian Christopher at the end of the show tonight. Both men are in action tomorrow night.
Scott Hudson says we have a pretty nice tag match on the card today, as Taguchi and Prince Devitt, who faced off last week, will team up tonight to take on newcomers The Bad Street Boys. That one looks like it could steal the show!
Dave tells the fans to stick around, Vampiro is in action when we return.
(Commercial break)
Vampiro pinned Chad Austin with the Nail In The Coffin in 0:04:05. Rating: ** 1/2
An easy win for Vamprio, who goes over to Scott Hudson and bad mouths Raven for his recent attitude change. Vampiro remembers when him and Raven used to run this company, and now it seems like so long ago. Vampiro talks about the history of Konnan blackballing luchadors from coming to the United States and making real money in this business when he came to WCW, and this fight that Latin Lover, Bucanero and Vamprio have waged has nothing to do with Raven, but if he wants to be involved, Vampiro can't promise that Raven will make it out of this fight in one piece.
Dean Malenko defeated Mike Anthony when Mike Anthony passed out in the Texas Cloverleaf in 0:06:24. Rating: ** 1/2
Dave Brown tells Malenko he has been an amazing mentor and trainer to Chad Collyer who has really come along as a player in the heavyweight and global title pictures this year, but he is also competing for that Global title, and something is going to have to give. Malenko tells Brown that he sees big things for Collyer in the future, and he is glad that they are competing in different blocks, but if it comes down to the two of them for the Global title, he won't have a problem going full speed against Chad. Malenko says that tournaments like this are what made his career. The G1 is going to be a showcase for The Iceman.
The Bad Street Boys (Christian York and Joey Matthews) defeated Ryusuke Taguchi and Prince Devitt when York pinned Devitt after a twisting moonsault in 0:14:55. Rating: ****
Great tag team action from both teams. The Bad Street Boys get the victory after Christian York hits an amazing twisting moonsault on Devitt for the victory. Taguchi helped his fallen partner to his feet and all 4 men shook hands after their battle.
Rey Bucanero pinned Brian Christopher after hitting him with a Stop Sign in 0:01:05. Rating: ** [Low-Ki interfered against Brian Christopher.]
Our main event ended in a hurry when Rey Bucanero was given an assist by Low-Ki. Low-Ki threw Bucanero a stop sign to use when the ref had his back turned to the action. One shot to the head and Christopher was out cold. A pinfall for Bucanero, and Brian Christopher goes into the G1 with a loss. Christopher will meet Low-Ki tomorrow night to open the G1 tournament.

I'm with Snabbit, I have no idea who is winning the G1.
I can't wait to see Ahmed/Taz at the PPV. It's a match that has been built up really well.

USWA Velocity Charlotte, NC Taped: June 24th, 2003 Airs: July 5th, 2003 Hosts: Lance Russell and Corey Maclin
Bobby Fish and Frank Morell come to the ring.
Bobby Fish comes to the ring with Frank Morell holding onto his X-Division title.
Frank has a huge bandage on his head and claims that he has had a loss of vision from CM Punk punching him in the head last week.
Bobby Fish said that Morell hasn't been able to get his flights or hotels booked, and hasn't been able to drive him around in a week, making his week a little more stressful than he expected!
Bobby Fish tells Punk that he won't just come out here and demand an X-Division title shot. If he wants the title he will have to take on Christopher Daniels tonight in our main event to earn his title shot. The winner of that match will get a shot at the title on the FINAL NIGHT of the G1 tournament.
Jun Akiyama pinned David Young with the Exploder in 0:06:28. Rating: *** 1/4
Akiyama scores the victory as Corino continued to claim he is the guy with the most momentum going into the G1 tournament. Corino gives Tanahashi a fair warning that night 1 in Detroit is going to be his biggest challenge since he set food in the USWA.
Harry Smith pinned Low-Ki with the Stampede Powerslam in 0:11:10. Rating: *** 3/4 [Trinity and Brian Christopher interfered against Low-Ki.]
Harry Smith came out tonight and announced he is now being managed by Trinity. This gives Trinity her second client, as she already manages King Fale. Smith hit the finisher on Low-Ki and got the big win when Trinity attempted to get revenge on Ki for him leaving her. Brian Christopher helped distract Low-Ki giving Harry Smith the big win. Smith will face Taz in the Main Event of the opening night of the G1.
Taz and Ahmed have a face to face confrontation.
Lance Russell says that they were told on this segment they would have one of the first face to face meetings between the Heavyweight champion Taz, and Ahmed Johnson. We were told that both men are going to be calm, but security has been brought in just in case.
Out comes Ahmed Johnson to a nice ovation, then Taz to a huge ovation from the crowd. Both men stare a hole through each other.
Lance tells the fans that this will be our PAY PER VIEW Main Event at Global Warfare.
Taz starts off telling Ahmed that he wants to set the record straight, and let him know that he has always been impressed with what he accomplished in the USWA since he got here last year. A very impressive won loss record, a former Global champion, and now the number one contender.
What he doesn't appreciate is the constant complaining about Bill Dundee blocking him from a title shot, or accusing Taz of dodging him.
Ahmed tried to interrupt, but Taz told him to shut his mouth and listen for a minute....as the crowd goes "ooohhh"
Taz continues on that for two years everyone in this company questioned if he could ever win "the big one." Last September, that dream came true and he won the USWA Heavyweight title. Then for three months I took on everyone Bill Dundee put in front of me, but then Raven tried to tell me I wasn't a fighting champion. I've taken on more challenges for the title this year than most past champions have their entire reign. Taz looks right into Johnsons eyes and tells him that he is going to be just another victim come August 24th.
(as the crowd cheers on Taz, Ahmed takes the mic.)
Ahmed said he has looked at Taz record, and he's never had to face an opponent who has been on a roll as hot as he has, he's never had to face an opponent with the type of POWER he has, and he's never going to face an opponent that is as hungry to get their career back on track the way that he has. Ahmed tells Taz to look around this company, and look at the "types of wrestlers" that have been given a title shot.
Taz tells Ahmed that if he is trying to play some type of race card, he can stop right there, because his buddy New Jack that got him into this company had a title shot and he choked him out and sent him packing.
Ahmed then tells Taz that he doesn't need to defend his opinions to him. The fact is Taz is going into the G1 tournament, and knows that it's going to take a toll on him before their PPV match. Johnson says to Taz to think of him as a little insurance policy, because he has every intention of making sure Taz wins the tournament, so he can not only face Taz for the Heavyweight title at Global Warfare, but if he is the Unified Heavyweight champion, he can also win back the title that was taken away from him by Bill Dundee.
Taz tells Johnson that the G1 is the only thing the USWA has put together that he has been able to participate in that doesn't include putting the title on the line and being a target. If he tries to interfere in any of his matches at the G1, he is going to put him in the Tazmission and never let go.
Taz ends the interview telling Ahmed Johnson that last week he came out here and called Taz a bully, well "son" you ain't never seen a bully like me.
(Taz drops the mic and heads back to the locker room to a huge ovation from the crowd. Ahmed is clearly upset from being outclassed in their faceoff.)
CM Punk made Christopher Daniels submit to the Anaconda Vice in 0:07:15. Rating: ****
Punk and Daniels were ordered to face off tonight to end their bickering over the next X-division title shot. CM Punk gets a big win when he made Daniels tap out in the Anaconda Vice submission. CM Punk will get his opportunity for the X-Division title at the FINAL NIGHT of the G1 tournament.
G1 Tournament Hype Central!!!
(Hello Fans I'm Lance Wright and this is HYPE CENTRAL! Tomorrow night, the USWA makes it's way to Detroit Michigan for the opening of the 2003 G1 Tournament! We had a chance to hear from ALL the competitors in this years competition...take a look..)
Vampiro (block b) says that he is happy to be in the same block as Raven, because he has been guaranteed to face him on the opening night of the tournament. Vampiro says that tomorrow night he personally wages war on his former friend Raven.
Low Ki (block a) says that he knows Trinity has it in for him since he left her and will do whatever it takes to hold him down from winning the G1, but he is going to take the A block and go on to become the Global champion once again. Ki says it will start on night one with a little revenge against Brian Christopher, and then he will be happy to take out Trinity's newist aquisition Harry Smith.
Chad Collyer (block a) claims that he had a chance to go for the heavyweight title, but wasn't able to get the job done against Johnson, now he has a chance to leave Detroit with another piece of gold around his waist. Collyer says that he is going to use the G1 to keep himself in the running at the top of the USWA.
Steve Bradley (block b) says that the competition in his block is top notch with a 7 day run facing guys like Malenko, Daniels, Tanahashi, Akiyama. Bradley claims that as a two time X-Division champion, he has the track record that proves he can keep up with the best talent in the company.
Doug Williams (block a) directs his anger toward Harry Smith. Williams claims he is going to do whatever it takes to eliminate Harry from this tournament.
Hiroshi Tanahashi (block b) says that he knows he can defeat Akiyama in this tournament, and once he gets that weight off his shoulders, he is going to take the tournament and earn the Global title.
Raven (block B) says that the Global title is the only title he can actually compete for since he is banned from going after the heavyweight title. Raven says that he has defeated Akiyama in the past, and will have fun taking out Vampiro on the first night.
Christopher Daniels (block b) says that he knows what it's like to be the global champion and will take it to the next level in this tournament to once again wear the title.
Brian Christopher (block a) says he has been waiting for an opportunity like this since he's returned to the USWA. Brian says that he is sick of being an underachiever in the USWA, and in one week will become a USWA champion. Christopher says that he has a superkick waiting for Low-Ki on the first night.
Latin Lover (block a) says that the Global title is a championship that should be worn from a superstar that can take the title to new heights. Lover says he is going to eliminate Konnan from the tournament on opening night, and then take the title back to Mexico, a place that Konnan can never return to.
Rey Bucanero (block b) claims that him and Vampiro will be the top point earners in the b block tournament, and then he prays that Latin Lover takes out Konnan. This way one of them will win the tournament and claim the Global championship. As long as Konnan doesn't win, the tournament will be a success.
Harry Smith (block a) with Trinity at his side, Harry claims to be the most underestimated guy in this tournament. Smith has a big challenge on the first night taking on Taz, but he is also looking forward to defeating Doug Williams and shocking the company by becoming the 10th Global champion.
Dean Malenko (block b) says that matches agaisnt Bradley, Daniels and Bucanero can be some of the most technical of the tournament, Raven and Vamprio will bring out the brawler in him, and to defeate Akiyama and Tanahashi he is going to have to be prepared to take some stiff shots. It's going to be a hard tournament to win, but thats what makes the USWA competition so great!
Taz (block a) says that this is the tournament that has the baddest and the best the USWA has to offer, Taz says he is going to unify these belts, and go on to Global Warfare to defeat Ahmed Johnson.
Jun Akiyama (block b) Steve Corino tells us that Akiyama has never been so ready for a tournament like this in his life. All the time wasted since his heavyweight title reign will be erased when he puts himself back on the map by winning the G1 tournament.
Konnan (block a) says that he has held that Global title in the past, when he defeats the competition that block A has for him, he will wrestle twice in the finals to go on to become the champion once again.
(Back to Lance Wright.)
Lance says the time for talking is over...we will see you in Detroit!

G1 Global Tournament 2003 Block b ================================= 1. Steve Bradley 2 ( 1: 0: 0) Hiroshi Tanahashi 2 ( 1: 0: 0) Rey Bucanero 2 ( 1: 0: 0) Vampiro 2 ( 1: 0: 0) 5. Jun Akiyama 0 ( 0: 1: 0) Dean Malenko 0 ( 0: 1: 0) Raven 0 ( 0: 1: 0) Christopher Daniels 0 ( 0: 1: 0)
-Raven missed out on two points when he wouldn't remove the choke hold from Vampiro. These two have been waging a hardcore war on each other and it's obvious normal rules will not be able to contain these two men.
-Two huge upsets on night one of the tournament. Hiroshi Tanahashi getting the victory over Akiyama stunned the fans. Tanahashi looks like he could go on to take this tournament after a momentum shifter like tonights win.
-Harry Smith claimed he was the most underestimated guy to participate in the G1 and he made his presence known by beating the Heavyweight Champion in our MAIN EVENT tonight!
-The Return of Americas Most Wanted in the tag team cage match shocked the world. Chris Harris came out and entered the cage looking straight at the Island Boys, who were totally exhausted and confused. Then out runs James Storm. These two did not leave the USWA on good terms, but as soon as we thought they were going to go at it, they teamed up to lay out the challengers in the Island Boys. A victory for Bad Intentions as AMW walked to the back.
A wild first night of the tournament.

Taz getting injured in the tournament is huge. I have no idea where you go from here, but it looks like he has to be out of it. It definitely leaves the field wide open.

Yes, tearing down the 4th wall here, but that injury was the first time I've ever tweak circuited an injury. For some reason I thought if a wrestler gets injured, but is in a round robin, TNM still lets them wrestle. Found out on Card 3 that doesn't happen, so I wrote up a little work around, then had some guys wrestle twice. Long story short, I need Taz to be in this tournament all the way. Nobody is allowed to get injured, nobody is allowed to no show. I'll write the injury into the storylines, but he is going to wrestle.

Dundee was threatening Taz that he would have to forefeit his match and any future matches in the tournament if he could not compete. Block A Notes:
Harry Smith continues to impress in this tournament. He gets a victory tonight over Latin Lover to sit atop the block as the tournament leader. He has the most points of anyone in the G1 as of this point.
Taz kept good on his promise to face two opponents tonight, and he took victories over both Doug Williams and Brian Christopher to get right back in this tournament tied for second place. Taz and Chad Collyer both have six points and will main event our 5th night of action as the G1 heads to Battle Creek Michigan.
Block B Notes.
The B block is wide open right now. Malenko, Bradley, Tanahashi and Akiyama are all tied with six going into our 5th night. Battle Creek won't see any of those 4 duel it out, but we are always just an upset away from someone taking over the pack.
Non tournament action saw the Bad Street Boys get DQed in a match with the returning former tag champions, Americas Most Wanted. AMW continued to use illegal moves behind the ref's back. Joey Matthews took his frustrations out on James Storm by choking him until an offical had to call for the bell.

A Block action includes
Latin Lover vs Low- Ki Brian Christopher vs Konnan Doug Williams vs Harry Smith Taz vs Chad Collyer

Interview: Americas Most Wanted talk about their return.
James Storm and Chris Harris come to the ring....
James Storm asks the fans if they missed them? Storm said that during the last run in the USWA, Americas Most Wanted wasn't exactly seeing eye to eye, and Storm took the blame for that. James said that he didn't see the vision that Chris had for the future of their team. Yes they did hold the titles one time, but they want to go down in history as the best tag team to ever set foot in this company.
Chris Harris said that this time around AMW are willing to do whatever it takes to get back to the top of the mountain. Steve Corino has given us a little extra incentive to make the Island Boys life a living hell for a few months, and thats exactly what they plan on doing.
(Kimo and OG EKMO come to the enterance.)
Kimo tells AMW that if they are such good friends with Corino and Bad Intentions maybe they'd like to fight it out tomorrow night! Tag team elimination style!
Chris Harris accepts the challenge on behalf of AMW and says that The Island Boys better find a team willing to go to war with them.

A BIG night for the G1 at the Kellog Arena in Battle Creek, Mi. The tournament really took shape tonight as the B block gave us TWO 5 star match of the year candidates, while the A block saw a big momentum shift.
An injured Taz was able to make Chad Collyer submit to the Tazmission and allow Taz to get back in the front of the A Block. The former solo leader of the A Block, Harry Smith fell victim to his former tag partner Doug Williams as Doug picked up his first win of the tournament.
Chad Collyer who was hanging in at the top of the A Block fell tonight to third place with his loss in the Main Event.
Steve Bradley and Christopher Daniels had a hell of a match in our second feature of the night, and then it was topped a few matches later by a classic that was put on by Dean Malenko and Rey Bucanero! Some are calling it the best match in the history of the USWA.
Backstage Latin Lover got into an argument with some of the management that were in attendance and almost no showed his opening match with Low-KI. Latin Lover has 4 shows remaining on his current USWA deal, so the timing of this blow up is interesting.
Tomorrow night the USWA hits Grand Rapids, MI at the Welsh Auditorium with two featured matches.
The A Block Taz vs Low Ki -Main Event Konnan vs Harry Smith Doug Williams vs Brian Christopher Latin Lover vs Chad Collyer
B Block action will include Jun Akiyama vs Rave -Main Event Vampiro vs Rey Bucanero Dean Malenko vs Chris Daniels Tanahashi vs Steve Bradley

Non Tournament notes:
The Tag Team Elimination match was a wild one that got a little out of control when Daziee Haze hit Storm with a chair causing her man to be eliminated. Steve Corino demanded that she suffers consequences of her attack & ordered Giant Bernard to give Haze the Bernard Driver in the middle of the ring! Haze had to be stretchered out of the arena and taken to the hospital. The Bad Street Boys have vowed revenge on both AMW and Bad Intentions for what they did after the match.
A Block Notes: Harry Smith keeps his impressive Global Tournament going with a victory over Konnan and lands himself in a tie with Taz after Taz defeated Low-Ki. Both men have 10 points and will take their tie into the final night tomorrow in Ypsilanti.
Latin Lovers victory over Chad Collyer tonight has eliminated him from advancing to the finals of the G1 in the A Block.
B Block Notes:
The big news is the victory from Steve Bradley over Tanahashi. With that loss and Akiyama making Raven submit with the armbar in our main event, Jun is now the B block leader and is one victory away from winning the block and making it to the finals of the tournament. Jun will face off against one of the highlights of this years tournament Dean Malenko, and if you've seen any of Malenko this year, you know he might be the one to get an upset victory tomorrow night.
Tomorrow nights lineups include: A Block Low- Ki vs Chad Collyer Harry Smith vs Brian Christopher Taz vs Latin Lover Konnan vs Doug Williams
B Block Vampiro vs Steve Bradley Raven vs Chris Daniels Rey Bucanero vs Latin Lover Dean Malenko vs Jun Akiyama

G1 Global Tournament 2003 Block A (Final Standings) =========================================== 1. Taz 12 ( 6: 1: 0) 2. Harry Smith 10 ( 5: 2: 0) 3. Chad Collyer 8 ( 4: 3: 0) Brian Christopher 8 ( 4: 3: 0) 5. Konnan 6 ( 3: 4: 0) Low-Ki 6 ( 3: 4: 0) 7. Latin Lover 4 ( 2: 5: 0) 8. Doug Williams 2 ( 1: 6: 0)
G1 Global Tournament 2003 Block B (Final Standings) =================================================== 1. Jun Akiyama 12 ( 6: 1: 0) 2. Hiroshi Tanahashi 8 ( 4: 3: 0) Rey Bucanero 8 ( 4: 3: 0) Dean Malenko 8 ( 4: 3: 0) Steve Bradley 8 ( 4: 3: 0) 6. Christopher Daniels 4 ( 2: 5: 0) Raven 4 ( 2: 5: 0) Vampiro 4 ( 2: 5: 0)
A Wild conclusion to the G1 tournament ended with three men battling for two spots in the finals. Harry Smith needed a victory tonight to tie Taz in the A Block. Those dreams were crushed when Brian Christopher got the upset over Smith, thanks to a little interference from Doug Williams. Williams was interviewed after his loss to Konnan about getting involved and said that Harry has taken their issues and put them out in the open for everyone, tonight he was just doing what he had to do in order to teach the kid a lesson in respect.
Taz gained a victory over Latin Lover making him the only man with 12 points in the A Block. His back was obviously in a lot of pain tonight as he has been fighting in the G1 with a major back injury since night two.
Jun Akiyama continued his winning ways with a victory over Dean Malenko. Hitting him with his Exploder finisher early. A short victory kept him in good condition for the finals. Taz would take on Jun Akiyama in a main event match anywhere on the planet.
The Finals saw Steve Corino lead his latest family member Jun Akiyama down to the ring for the match with Taz to crown the Global champion. Again Corino made his presence known as he hit TAZ with a chair right accross is already injured back. Bucanero ran down to the ring attempting to get some revenge for his loss to Akiyama back on Night 4, but he intercepted the staple gun throw and used it on Taz. Akiyama hit the Blue thunder bomb....his new finisher that he brought back to the USWA and got the victory over our Heavyweight champion, and became the 10th GLOBAL champion!
Jun Akiyama has made his way back up the ladder of the USWA and has won the Global title. A lot of outside interference and injuries have caused Taz to lose one of the biggest matches in his career, as he fell short of unifiying the titles. Steve Corino has Akiyama back on top but with a whole new attitude. With a PPV on the horizon who could Akiyama's first opponent be? We know that Taz has to defend his titles against Ahmed Johnson at Global Warefare, but the future of Akiyamas opponents is still a mystery.
Non Tournament notes:
AMW continued their winning ways on the G1 tour since their return with a tag victory over The New Bolsheviks. Americas Most Wanted look like more of a team now than they did their entire last run in the USWA.
The X-Division title match CM Punk had been waiting for took place tonight with Bobby Fish coming out on top. Help from both Morell and Steve Corino was just too much for CM Punk to take on his own. Distractions led to a spot on superkick that finished the match. Morell, Corino, and Fish high tailed it out of the ring with the belt still in hand.

USWA Challenge Taped: 7/28/2003 Aired: 8/02/2003 Hosts: Scott Hudson and Dave Brown
Video of Jun Akiyama winning G1 & announcers rundown the show.
Dave Brown welcomes the fans to the show and explains what an amazing week of action the G1 Global tournament was. Brown tosses it to a video showing Jun Akiyama with the title belt over his head and the Corino family all around the ring.
Dave says that a new Global Champion has been crowned and with the crowning of the champion, the Corino family has control of every title that the USWA has accept for Taz heavyweight title.
Scott Hudson runs down the show talking about how we will see the former Bulldogs both in singles competition, along with a big match as Dean Malenko takes on King Fale in singles competition.
Harry Smith pinned Ryusuke Taguchi with the Stampede Powerslam in 0:07:35.Rating: **** 1/4 (Mike Anthony no-showed.)
Ryusuke Taguchi came out to thank the fans for their support during his time in the USWA, but was soon interupted by Harry Smith and Trinity who basically threw him into the ring and gave him a beating. Harry Smith is coming off a very strong showing in the G1 and feels he is a top contender for the first shot at Jun Akiyama. After the match Smith blamed Doug Williams for costing him the points he needed to claim victory in the tournament. He challenged Williams to face him here next week on Challenge.
Doug Williams pinned Conquistador #1 with the Northern Lights Suplex in 0:01:13. Rating: *
Before the match Williams talked with Dave Brown and told him that he would accept Smiths challenge next week, but he didn't want to see Trinity anywhere near the ring. Williams agreed to the match if he banned his manager from ringside so they could determine who the better man really was.
CM Punk and Christopher Daniels face to face.
Back from commercial break CM Punk and Christopher Daniels are both in the ring.
Daniels calls out Punk on his latest defeat while attempting to win the USWA X-Division title. Daniels says he is next in line for a shot.
CM Punk explains that it was obvious that Steve Corino was the reason he didn't claim victory and doesn't have the title around his waist right now.
Bill Dundee came out to address the situation. He said he was sick of the bickering between these two men and gave Daniels a shot at the title next.
CM Punk claimed that he had to defeat Daniels to earn his shot, and Daniels is now being given the title shot on a silver platter. Punk convinces that Daniels should have to BEAT SOMEONE in the division to earn the shot, even if it isn't Punk himself.
Dundee agrees with the argument and tells Daniels that on Velocity this week he will go one on one with Chad Collyer, with the winner receiving a shot at the X-Division title.
Dundee announces a tag team battle royal for next week.
Dundee gets Punk and Daniels out of the ring and explains the real reason he is joining Scott and Dave Brown here on Challenge.
Next week the USWA will be holding a tag team battle royal to determine the next contenders to the tag team titles. The return of Americas Most Wanted to the USWA has really put the tag team division in the spotlight as of late. The winner of the tag team battle royal will face the champions at our next PPV event.
The New Bolsheviks (Vladimir Kozlov and Alex Koslov) defeated Assassin #1 and Assassin #2 when V. Kozlov pinned Assassin #2 with the Russian Rack in 0:05:04. Rating: * 1/2
The Bolsheviks get a big victory today and join Scott Hudson after the match. Hudson tells the team that they will face off against the returning Americas Most Wanted on Velocity this week. Alex suggest that their return to the USWA won't be as pleasant as they expect.
Dean Malenko made King Fale submit to the Texas Cloverleaf in 0:06:44. Rating: *** 1/2

Malenko says he feels he has one last run in him...as the discussion continues Rey Bucanero came out from the dressing room to attack Malenko. Rey tells Malenko that they might have had a classic match at the G1, but a rematch is right around the corner and it won't be pretty for Malenko.

Ladder Match James Storm and Karl Anderson defeated The New Bolsheviks (Vladimir Kozlov and Alex Koslov) in 0:33:03. Rating: *** [Steve Corino interfered against Alex Koslov.] (Chris Harris no-showed.)
A tag team ladder match with a title shot guaranteed in a briefcase was hanging above the ring ready for Americas Most Wanted and the Bolsheviks to go at it. Harris never made it to the arena and James Storm pulled out a shocker as he was able to convince Karl Anderson, who is in tonights main event, to team up with him and attempt to win him and his partner a title shot! Anderson accepted because he told his tag partner Giant Bernard that AMW would owe them big time if they helped win them a title shot. Storm and Anderson won the match and Americas Most Wanted are guaranteed a title match down the line.
Vampiro, Bucanero and Lover take out Raven.
Video plays of Raven arriving at the building, but as soon as he steps out of his car three men brutally attacked him. As the violent attack continues, the video clearly shows Vampiro, Bucanero and Latin Lover as the culprits.
As the three men get Raven to his feet, Bucanero and Lover drag him around the building where Vampiro jumps into a hole and starts digging out dirt with a shovel. The three men then go onto do the unthinkable and attempt to bury Raven alive in the ground!
As this attack continued out came Konnan to try to fend off the three guys and revive Raven, who was then taken to a nearby hospital.
Alex Shelley pinned Prince Devitt with the Shell Shock in 0:07:15. Rating: ****
A big victory for Alex Shelley and a shocking turn of events as well. Once the match ended Devitt extended his hand to Shelly who then kicked a fallen Devitt to the ground and hit him with a second Shell Shock after the match. Shelley gave no reason for his actions and left the ring.
Doug Williams pinned Brian Christopher with the Northern Lights Suplex in 0:04:36. Rating: ** 1/2

Bad Intentions (Giant Bernard and Karl Anderson) and Jun Akiyama defeated The Island Boys (OG Ekmo and Kimo) and Taz when Giant Bernard pinned Taz with the Bernard Driver in 0:10:24. Rating: *** 1/4
Wild main event tonight with The Corino Family getting the victory after Giant Bernard hit Taz with the Bernard driver and pinned the champ clean in the middle of the ring. It was a scene we haven't seen many times in the last year, but our fallen champion took the loss in the match, and the Corino Family continues to back up their claims of being the most dominant group in the USWA.

Very interesting with Karl Anderson helping James Storm get a title shot for AMW, especially in such a dangerous match and with having to wrestle in the main event (no shows are surely a bitch . You have to wonder if Giant Bernard is going to take issue with this. Could he be on the path to moving to the singles division, especially when he pinned the champ Taz in the 6-man? Oh, the drama! PPV is coming together nicely. Looking forward to it. Seems funny to see Ahmed Johnson in a main event in 2003, but I have a soft spot for the big lug.

USWA Challenge Taped: 7/29/2003 Aired: 8/09/2003 Hosts: Scott Hudson and Dave Brown
Show Opening Dave Brown and Scott Hudson kick off Challenge.
Dave and Scott open the show by giving recognition to the hot crowd that came out for USWA Challenge in Greensboro, NC.
Scott Hudson says that today on the show the fans will get a good look at the USWA number one contender as he sits down for an exclusive one on one extended interview with Ahmed Johnson.
Dave Browns says that the USWA has been headed directly toward a showdown at Global Warfare with the new Global Heavyweight champion Jun Akiyama putting the title on the line against Harry Smith, but tonight Harry Smith will get his requested rematch against his former tag team partner Doug Williams in tonights main event.
Hudson acknowledges that those two have been waiting to get their hands on one another ever since they squared off in Battle Creek, Michigan in the G1 Tournament, tonight round 2 of The Bulldogs!
Dave Brown also says that we will be hosting a tag team battle royal with the winners headed to Global Warfare for a shot at Bad Intentions USWA Tag Team Titles. Dave said that Bill Dundee will be out to explain to us exactly what that means for Americas Most Wanted.
When we get back Brian Christopher will take on Rey Bucanero and Dean Malenko will join us for commentary so stick around, plenty of USWA action coming up!
Brian Christopher pinned Rey Bucanero with the Tennessee Jam in 0:08:53. Rating: *** 3/4 [Dean Malenko interfered against Rey Bucanero.]
Dean Malenko joined Brown and Hudson for commentart to discuss the classic encounter that he had when he faced Bucanero in the tournament. During the match Bucanero continued to use the ropes in an illegal manner to get leverage on Christopher during his submission moves. Malenko got frustrated with Rey's cheating ways and at one point left the announcers table to jump on the apron & kick Bucaneros hands off the ropes. This gave Christopher the momentum he needed to gain control of the match and gain a victory in our opening match. Bucanero vowed to get revenge on Malenko for his interference today.
Trinity and Harry Smith discuss Corino Family & tonights Main Event.
Scott Hudson tells the fans we are scheduled to hear from Trinity and Harry Smith for a few comments on tonights main event.
Out comes Trinity along with Harry Smith to join Hudson ringside.
Trinity starts off by telling Scott that she is so sick of hearing about Steve Corino! Trinity tells Corino that he was a joke when he was in that ring, and the only reason he is even managing talent in the USWA is because he couldn't cut it as a professional wrestler!
Harry Smith then interrupts his manager to tell Scott that his questioning is really starting to get under Trinity's skin. Hudson tries to defend himself by explaining that he hasn't even asked a question yet, but he is quickly cut off by Smith.
Harry says that his career is on an upswing since he left Doug Williams in the dust. At Global Warfare Smith intends to win his first major singles title, but before that he is going to face his former partner in the middle of the ring.
Konnan checks on Raven before the Battle Royal.
Backstage Konnan comes in to check on Raven. Raven tells Konnan that he hasn't been the same since he saw his fate of being buried last week.
Konnan says he can't really understand what that feeling was like, but tonight the opportunity to compete for gold is right in front of them if they can win the tag team battle royal. Konnan reminds Raven of their dreams of being champions again, and tonight that chance is right in front of them if Raven can get it together.
Raven assured Konnan he would be ready to fight.
12-Man Tag Team Battle RoyalOG Ekmo and Kimo won a 6-team Battle Royal: x J. Matthews threw out V. Kozlov (partner: Alex Koslov) in 0:00:19 x L. Lover threw out Konnan (partner: Raven) in 0:08:10 x Vampiro threw out York (partner: Joey Matthews) in 0:09:43 x Ekmo threw out Vampiro (partner: Latin Lover) after the Ekmo Drop in 0:14:46 x Kimo threw out James Storm (partner: Chris Harris) in 0:16:13 Rating: ***
Frank Morell and Bobby Fish talk X-Division backstage.
Cameras are in the locker room of the X-Division champion Bobby Fish. Fish and Frank Morell are having a discussion about what the lay of the land is in the X-Division so he can figure out who his next opponent will be.
Frank Morell tells Bobby that his impressive victory over CM Punk at the G1 tournament has eliminated Punk from another title shot. Steve Bradley still looks to be a competitor, but has been pushed by the USWA to go after the heavyweight division. Chad Collyer defeated Christopher Daniels last week on Velocity, which will give him the next title shot, but Christopher Daniels still claims that he has never been pinned by the champion in a title match and deserves to get a shot at the gold due to his past accomplishments.
Bobby Fish sarcastically thanks Frank for his debrief. Fish tells him that if Chad Collyer is next in line for a title shot, then training for the match needs to take place immediately. Fish sends Morell to the local sporting goods store with a list of items to pick up for his training.
Scott Hudson conducts a sit down interview with #1 contender Ahmed Johnson.
Dave Brown introduces the piece to the audience. He explains that after his victory over Chad Collyer at the Mid South Coliseum and during the G1 tournament Ahmed Johnson was guaranteed the next shot at the title, in a match he has been waiting for since his arrival. A one on one encounter with Taz, with the title on the line. During the G1 Scott Hudson sat down with Ahmed to talk about that PPV main event in Manhattan, NY.
Scott Hudson starts the interview with a flashback to the 15 minute #1 contenders match defeating one of the most active up and coming stars in the USWA, Chad Collyer.
Ahmed Johnson reflects on the feeling he had when he gave Chad that Pearl River Plunge and heard the 3 count. Johnson said it was a career defining moment for him. Johnson thanks Collyer for bringing out the best in him that night, and that he knows Chad will have his chance soon, but this is something he has wanted to prove to his critics that his career is back where he wanted it to be.
Hudson asks Johnson to look back on his career before his USWA days. The WWF run, the short lived WCW run...and what it means to be back on top of the sport in 2003.
Johnson tells Hudson that when he went to the WWF back in 1995 he spent plenty of time in the Memphis area working with Jerry Lawler and all the regulars around this area. They trained him and showed him what it was to be a full time pro wrestler.
His success in the WWF came because he proved that he was one of the toughest guys in the company, but later that was actually a negative on him. People thought Johnson went too hard in the ring, but the fact is, a lot like Taz Ahmed only knows one way, and thats 100% full force. If someone gets injured in the process, then thats life.
Hudson talks about his return to the ring about 2 years ago in WCW before it went under, and how he was out of shape and lost faith his his ability to perform night after night.
Johnson agrees that that is exactly why happened. The misery of being in that company with no direction was just hard to take. Johnson said that in 2001 he met up with New Jack and the two of them talked about how the landscape of pro wrestling was changing. New Jack came to the USWA for work, got an opportunity to show what he could do and became a champion. Nobody expected that.
Hudson asks Johnson if New Jacks success in the USWA is something that brought him to the company?
Johnson says that it had a lot to do with his decision to come here, and in Manhattan, NY on August 24th, that decision is going to pay off when he becomes the USWA champion.
Hudson brings up the champion Taz. He has held the title for almost a year and is closing in on being the champion with the most title defenses in the history of the promotion. He isn't just the champion, but in the past year he is writing a legacy as one of the/if not the best champion.
Johnson says that he hasn't had a chance at the title yet, and that he will determine just how good Taz is when everything is on the line at Global Warfare. Johnson says that he is impressed with his title reign, but everyones reign has to come to an end sometime, and Taz hasn't been in the ring with someone who can match him in power, if not exceed his power.
Scott Hudson thanks Ahmed for the time and tells him that this PPV is going to be like no other when these two superpowers collide in the ring!
Match with Managers Banned From RingsideHarry Smith pinned Doug Williams with the Stampede Powerslam in 0:08:10. Rating: *** 1/4
Harry Smith took down his former tag team Doug Williams. Smith took it a bit further after scoring the pinfall with the Stampede Powerslam, he threw Williams in the Boston Crab and refused to let it go until....Trinity ran down after the match and tried to block the enterance of security and referees. Smith left Williams laying and showed why he is the number one contender for the Global Title as we went off the air.

USWA Velocity Greensboro, NC Taped: July 29th, 2003 Airs: August 9th, 2003 Hosts: Lance Russell and Corey Maclin
Taz defeated Vampiro by countout in 0:09:35. Rating: *** 1/2 (Dean Malenko no-showed.)
Velocity started right out of the gate with Taz in singles action. No title on the line, just pure one on one competition. On several occasions Taz attempted to submit Vampiro, but in the end Vampiro took off out of the ring and gave the champion a countout victory.
Alex Shelley talks about his recent attitude change.
Ringside Lance Russell asks Alex Shelley to come on down before his match. Shelley comes down and listens to Russell talk about what a great kid he was, and how hard he has worked here in the USWA.
Shelley cuts off Russell and tells him that his entire career he has tried to do the right thing, and even aligned himself with different groups, but even when he was a part of New Europe he was on the back burner. Thats all going to change.
Russell comments about his cheap shot on Prince Devitt, another young strong competitor in the USWA last week, and why exactly he picked NOW to vent his frustrations?
Shelley told Russell that the USWA planned a 7 show tour of Michigan focused on Detroit, and giving tribute to a guy he grew up watching in the Sheik. Apparently Alex understood that he might not get into the tournament because he was an x-division guy and it was a heavyweight tournament, but their were non tournament matches all over the shows and he was never even given the chance by Bill Dundee to be apart of the shows. From this day forward Alex said he doesn't want a tag partner, he doesn't want to be in a faction, he is going to do what ever it takes to do whats best for him and move up the ladder in the USWA.
Shelley finished off the interview claiming he is still one of the best wrestlers under contract to the company, and he is giving an OPEN CHALLENGE TO ANYONE in the company to face him in a match in Manhattan, NY at Global Warfare.
Russell told Shelley to not worry about playing PPV match maker and he should worry about the task at hand tonight in the ring!
Alex Shelley pinned Jimmy Yang with the Shell Shock in 0:07:37. Rating: *** 1/2
Shelley has taken his talents to a whole new level as we get into the dog days of summer. Jimmy Yang was brought in for X-Division action and Shelley showed off his skills in the ring taking a victory with the Shell Shock finisher. A victory last week over Devitt and a victory tonight over Jimmy Yang have some in the USWA taking notice of the seldom noticed Alex Shelley.
Global Warfare Event Center.
Lance Wright reminds fans that tickets are on sale for their next Pay-Per-View event taking place on Saturday night August 24th Manhattan, NY at the Manhattan Center.
The Main Event is one we have all been talking about, the USWA Heavyweight Champion Taz will defend his title for the 12th time when he takes on Ahmed Johnson, the current number one contender. This week on Challenge Ahmed Johnson had a few comments when it came to the match.
::Footage of this past weekends interview with Scott Hudson plays::
In other action the USWA Tag Team Titles will be on the line as Steve Corino will have his champions Bad Intentions defend the titles against The Island Boys. The Island Boys got a big victory in a tag team Battle Royal this week leading to this match.
The Global title is on the line as the new champion Jun Akiyama will take on #1 contender Harry Smith.
Bobby Fish puts his X-Division title on the line against Chad Collyer...we were able to catch up with Chad who had a few words for the champ...
[Cut to a promo with Chad Collyer]
Chad says that his loss to Ahmed Johnson took him out of the title match with Taz, but as fate would have it, that outcome led him on a path to an X-Division title shot against Bobby Fish. Collyer talks about all the highlights Fish and himself have had in their short time with the USWA, and at Global Warfare, two of the brightest stars will go at it for the title.
[Back to Lance Wright]
Another match that we are all looking forward to is an exibition of technical wrestling as Dean Malenko and Rey Bucanero will face off in a rematch from their encounter during the G1 Climax tournament. Lance shows clips of this past weekend on USWA Challenge when Malenko helped Brian Christopher get a victory over Rey Bucanero.
All this action along with more matches to be announced in the upcoming weeks! Saturday night August 24th in Manhattan, NY. If you can't be their live make sure to order and watch all the action from the comfort of your own home!
[commercial break]
Karl Anderson is confronted by Corino and Giant Bernard about his recent dealings with Americas Most Wanted.
In the dressing room Corino asks Karl Anderson what exactly he was thinking when he helped James Storm last week?
Anderson tells Bernard and Steve to relax. Tonight in the main event A.M.W. will get their title shot, if Chris Harris decides to show up! Karl says that AMW have been helping them up and down the road against The Bad Street Boys and even the Island boys. Tonight we repay the favor with a title shot, BUT if they lose, they will owe us...big time.
Corino tells Anderson that in the future, if he wants to set up title shots, he should tell his manager about it first! Corino says he is looking out for the best interest of his clients and their titles.
Prince Devitt and Low-Ki battled to a draw in 0:15:00. Rating: ****
Fans were the winners in this one as Devitt and Low-Ki went to the 15 minute TV time limit draw. Devitt again put his hand out as a show of respect and Low-Ki, unlike Alex Shelley last week, extended that respect to a young Prince Devitt.
Konnan and Raven kidnap Vampiro backstage.
Cameras caught Vampiro backstage trying to recoop from his match against Taz which opened the show. Vampiro was grabbing his gear and leaving the arena when he was brutally attacked from behind by Konnan and Raven. Cameras followed Raven and Konnan, who took an injured Vamprio to another area of the arena, where an open casket was waiting for him. Raven and Konnan threw Vampiro into the casket and locked the door shut. Raven continued to scream at Vampiro for his attack last week and told him that sweet revenge was the only thing to get him back on track.
Video Promo: Next weeks main event Jun Akiyama vs Steve Bradley.
Corey Maclin voiced over highlights of Jun Akiyama winning the G1 claiming that Jun Akiyama has his career back on the right track as he once again has USWA gold around his waist. Highlights of Steve Bradley play while Corey talks about his recent move to the heavyweight division and above average showing in the G1 tournament. Next week these two will go one on one in our main event!
Chad Collyer explains his thoughts on an X-Division title shot.
Lance Russell announces Chad Collyer to the fans. Collyer comes out and thanks Lance for giving him the time.
Lance says that the audience got to hear a few comments from him during the PPV Event Center segment and it seems like he has a lot of respect for Bobby Fish.
Chad confirms those feelings to Russell saying that Bobby Fish and I were both outcasts of the independent wrestling scene. We were always thought of as good wrestlers, but never given an opportunity until we made our way to the USWA. We have gone our seperate ways, but have both made a name for ourselves.
Lance asks if Collyer is concerned about Bobby Fish hanging out with that lackey, former referee Frank Morell and what he might do at ringside during the title match?
Chad Collyer says that he won't be going to the ring alone at Global Warfare and if Morell knows what's good for him he won't even think of getting involved!
Lance mentions that next week Chad will be in action taking on King Fale, and Bobby Fish has promised to send footage of his training ...maybe as a way to intimidate him before the big match.
Collyer suggests that the fans will get a first hand look at his prep for the title match next week in the ring!
Lance Russell asks the fans to give it up for Chad Collyer and throws it to a commercial break.
Bad Intentions (Giant Bernard and Karl Anderson) defeated America's Most Wanted (James Storm and Chris Harris) when Giant Bernard pinned C. Harris with the Bernard Driver in 0:11:42. Rating: *** 1/2 (Bad Intentions retained the Tag Team Title.) [Steve Corino interfered against James Storm.]
Wild main event and when all was said and done Bad Intentions retain the titles. After the match an exhausted Karl Anderson took the mic and told Americas Most Wanted that they did their part giving them a title shot, but now it's time to return the favor. In two weeks on Velocity Americas Most Wanted will step in the ring with The Island Boys.....in a STEEL CAGE MATCH! Chris Harris seemed upset with having to face the Island Boys in a cage match considering he witnessed first hand the punishment they can dish out when they got involved in the Bad Intentions/Island Boys cage match on the G1 opening night show. Giant Bernard and Steve Corino gave Anderson credit for coming up with the idea to weaken the number one contenders days before they meet for the titles at Gloabl Warfare.
Backstage Notes
After the Greensboro TV tapings, The Latin Lover announced to his fans on his website that he had resigned a one year contract with the USWA. Latin Lover received a small push earlier this year when he broke away from his tag team partner and turned heel on Psicosis. Lover went on to feud with Konnan, but with his contract being up soon, the company decided to hold off on anymore major angles with the two until he was locked into a new contract. I would expect to see a larger roll out of The Latin Lover in the near future.
Dean Malenko no showed the Velocity taping and management is none to happy with the recent actions of the USWA contracted talent. Bill Dundee has stated that anymore unexcused absences could be the end of some wrestlers USWA careers. Chris Harris didn't make it to the tapings the night before.
Global Warfare is setting up to be another successful PPV event and this week we announced Dean Malenko will face Rey Bucanero in a rematch from their fantastic match in the G1 Tournament.
Chad Collyer will also receive a title match against X-Division champion Bobby Fish at the PPV.
The third match announced was the Tag Team titles being on the line when The Island Boys will take on Bad Intentions on the show.
Chicago will host our next set of TV tapings scheduled for August 11th and 12th, then we go right into Global Warfare on August 24th.
