Superstars:
Adonis throws away the match but we all know it's the tag match in Philly that really matters... and that tag is gonna be FUN.
Andre and Barbarian squashes. THIS is how we get through 1986.
Barbarian feuding with the Hennan Family in '86 is the feud I didn't know I needed but here we are.
Was not expecting Bad News to take gold tonight! What a visual too!

The Spectrum:
Jesus this is a lot of mass in the opening match. I love your tag team division by the way. So many great teams and The Road Warriors aren't just running through everyone either. Cool story in this match. I expect Hawk & Animal to get some revenge later.
Good short little feud comes to rest but it feels like all 4 guys were helped a bit. History tells me HTM has the highest ceiling but I wouldn't at all be mad if you took one of the other three further.
Road Warriors coming out of the round robin with the worst record isn't something I expected. Something tells me they aren't going to just walk away after this match, though...
Get em Hector! Dos Caras fought valiantly but alas he may be riding off into the sunset after this one.
Hell of a Battle Royal! Von Erich was booked like a star and I appreciate that! More dissension in the ranks of the Heenan Family. Can't blame Double A for what he did but Steamboat sure has a reason to be hot about it.
The Barbarian is certainly taking full advantage of the Heenan Family coming unglued and he's gaining a ton of momentum because of it.
Oh wow! Four stars from these brutes! I LOVE IT!! I'm actually jealous that you have all three of these teams even if I never would've thought to put Herc & Dino together.
Bad News is unbelievable. Out here trying to ruin EVERYTHING for Duggan.
Windham and Deebs tearing the house down as expected. The Intercontinental Title feels super important right now thanks this feud AND getting a main event spot at the Spectrum. Flair showing up gave me goosebumps actually. Clearly this is the Four Horseman, right? But what about the Heenan Family? Where does Steamer, Bundy, Luger and Studd fit in?

8/2/86 - GCW Superstars (TAPED: 7/15/86) LOCATION: Mid-Hudson Civic Center - Poughkeepsie, NY
Gorilla Monsoon & Mark Niemiller were on hand to welcome us to this week's episode of GCW Superstars. They would go over everything that happened at The Spectrum in Philadelphia, including the shocking ending to the night! But we also had some great wrestling action ahead of us, with The Rougeau Brothers taking on The Hart Foundation, Ivan Koloff would be here, as well as in our featured contest, rivals collide as "The Modern Day Warrior" Kerry Von Erich takes on "The Total Package" Lex Luger! But first to the ring for our first matchup!
MATCH #1 King Kong Bundy (w/ Bobby "The Brain" Heenan) vs. Roger Kirby
During this short but brutal squash match, an insert promo aired with Bobby Heenan reassuring King Kong Bundy that he is his most important client, and even though it's been a rough couple of months, the main priority is Bundy. Bundy asked what was the deal with his new clients (which we will get into later), but the Brain glossed over it, saying he was going to get Bundy back on track. He has signed a tag team match for The Big Event where Bundy will team with Big John Studd to take on The Barbarian and Andre the Giant! Bundy said he doesn't want a tag match, but after he breaks them, he wants Heenan to get him a World Title rematch.
King Kong Bundy pinned Roger Kirby after a splash in 0:02:51. Rating: -1/2*
Monsoon & Niemiller recapped the events from Philadelphia's show last Saturday, namely the fact that we have a new Intercontinental champion in Barry Windham. Video was shown of the ending of the match, including Windham joining forces with Bobby Heenan and defeating Ted DiBiase with the help of the returning RIC FLAIR. After that, they threw it to a pre-taped video from last Saturday night.
THE FOUR HORSEMEN ARE HERE
We are back in the locker room of The Spectrum and champagne is already flowing as everyone celebrates the new IC champion Barry Windham. Bobby Heenan is laughing and basically says he proved once and for all he is the premiere mind in professional wrestling. The main person we wanted to hear talk was RIC FLAIR, who returned after a long absence from GCW. Flair said that yes, he had been gone, but he was waiting for the right time to come back. When he saw someone like Hulk Hogan come in, not pay his dues, not earn his keep and be given everything on silver platter, he knew it was time to come back. The Nature Boy talked about the limousines and the jets, the champagne and the women, but noted that he worked hard for that lifestyle. Flair said he wanted to find some like-minded people to help him run wrestling, and that's when he contacted Bobby Heenan. He called the Brain a genius and they put the plan in motion to form what you saw here - the Four Horsemen of wrestling. The video package ended with everyone involved putting up four fingers.
Back to the arena, Niemiller was loving what he just saw and said he can't wait until the Horsemen are running the show. Monsoon had trouble finding an argument against that.
MATCH #2 The Rougeau Brothers vs. The Hart Foundation (w/ Jimmy Hart)
Every time these two teams lock up, it's a fantastic affair, and this week was no different. If there's a major criticism against the Rougeaus it's that they often focus more on having fun and sightseeing than getting it done in the ring. That seems to change when they take on the Hart Foundation. This was a highly competitive contest, but in the end, Raymond Rougeau got caught in the Hart Attack and ate defeat. Niemiller was entirely impressed by this, saying that it won't be long before the Hart Foundation were tag team champions. Monsoon said they would still have to go through the Rock 'N Roll Express though, which is no easy task.
The Hart Foundation (Bret Hart and Jim Neidhart) defeated The Rougeau Brothers (Jacques Rougeau and Raymond Rougeau) when B. Hart pinned R. Rougeau after the Hart Attack in 0:10:45. Rating: *** 1/2
Monsoon said they now had a very special interview as they had a video filmed earlier this week with World champion HULK HOGAN!
HULK HOGAN WILL DEAL WITH WHAT COMES WITH THE FOUR HORSEMEN
We are on the set of a Honey Nut Cheerios commercial the Immortal One was filming during a break where he was joined by Lord Alfred Hayes. Hayes asked if Hogan had heard the words of the newly formed Four Horsemen after Saturday's show in Philly. The Hulkster said he had been shown the video earlier in the day, and said if the Horsemen want to play, he's ready to play. Hayes brought up Flair's comments that Hulk didn't deserve what he's gotten. Hogan said if the Nature Boy thinks he's being spoonfed opportunities, he was more than happy to get in the ring and feed Flair some fists. Hogan added that he knows he'll have to watch his back in Toronto when he defends the World Title against Arn Anderson, but he's not going to shy away from the Horsemen or anyone else. He'll be ready on August 28.
MATCH #3 "The Russian Bear" Ivan Koloff vs. Chris Duffy
With his nephew, Nikita Koloff, out of action for awhile with a knee injury, Ivan Koloff needs something to do. This week, that something to do was beat up Chris Duffy.
Ivan Koloff pinned Chris Duffy with the Russian Sickle in 0:03:51. Rating: * 1/2
LIVE EVENT REPORT W/ GENE OKERLUND
Gene Okerlund was way too hyped up for how early in the day it was, but who could blame him - it's Live Event Report time! Mean Gene may have never been more excited as he talked about what very well could end up being the largest wrestling event in history, The Big Event! We already knew that Hulk Hogan will be defending the World Title against Arn Anderson, Bad News Brown will defend the Television Title against Jim Duggan, and King Kong Bundy & Big John Studd will face The Barbarian & Andre the Giant. We got a fourth match announced as Okerlund was joined by GCW President Jack Tunney. Tunney announced that because of the recent brawls between The Road Warriors & The Unholy Alliance, it was going to come to an end at The Big Event. The two teams will take place in a no rules, anything goes Boot Camp Match! Tunney said that if these two teams wanted to rip each other apart, they could in Toronto. However, they would be barred from GCW arenas until that night as they were becoming a safety risk.
Before we got to our main event, Monsoon & Niemiller had an announcement regarding the very program we were watching. Starting on September 6, the format of Superstars will change. Instead of being 60 minutes, Superstars will now be 90 minutes! Even more GCW action for us all!
MATCH #4 "The Modern Day Warrior" Kerry Von Erich vs. "The Total Package" Lex Luger (w/ Bobby "The Brain" Heenan)
Lex Luger has been trying to bully everyone since Bobby Heenan brought him to GCW, but upon Kerry Von Erich's return, he decided someone needed to put the young powerhouse in his place. This match was going to be Luger's biggest challenge to date, and we were all going to see if The Total Package is ready for it. Luger was easily frustrated early on with Von Erich taking advantage of his inexperience, causing Luger to make some rookie mistakes. Luger did have Heenan in his corner though, and a distraction let Luger get the upperhand and show what he does best. Von Erich fought back though, and looked like he was about to put a major blemish on the youngster's record. Von Erich had just gotten the dreaded Claw locked on, but Heenan wasn't about to see his young charge submit today. Heenan jumped in the ring and hit Von Erich in the back for the blatant disqualification.
Kerry Von Erich defeated Lex Luger by disqualification in 0:08:33. Rating: 1/2* [Bobby Heenan interfered against Kerry Von Erich.]
Von Erich wasn't hurt, but he was mad as he turned his attention to the Brain. Heenan was lucky he was wearing dark pants as he jumped out of the ring in a hurry and hightailed it out of Dodge. Von Erich was oblivious to Luger getting back up, who grabbed Von Erich jumped behind and put him in the Torture Rack! Officials ran out to finally break it up, but the damage was definitely done. Monsoon opined that this one wasn't over by a long shot, and I would be inclined to agree.
Be sure to join us next week on Superstars where we will see Ricky Steamboat in action, as well as Tully Blanchard & #1 contender Arn Anderson! Dos Caras will meet Honky Tonk Man, The Power Company will also be in action, as well as the now former Intercontinental champion Ted DiBiase taking on Jimmy Garvin! See you next week!

8/9/86 - GCW Superstars (TAPED: 7/15/86) LOCATION: Mid-Hudson Civic Center - Poughkeepsie, NY
Welcome to another episode of GCW Superstars! Gorilla Monsoon & Mark Niemiller were here once again to run down our show, which included Ricky Steamboat in action, The Power Company as well, and Arn Anderson & Tully Blanchard of the newly formed Four Horsemen! And in our feature match, former Intercontinental champion Ted DiBiase meets Jimmy Garvin! But first, to the ring and Howard Finkel.
MATCH #1 Dos Caras vs. Honky Tonk Man (w/ Jimmy Hart)
Say what you want about the way he does it, Honky Tonk Man is proving to be a competent and dangerous opponent in the ring. He showed that again in our opener as he withstood Dos Caras' unorthodox offense to take the win.
Honky Tonk Man pinned Dos Caras with the Shake Rattle'n'Roll in 0:07:17. Rating: ** 1/4
ANDRE THE GIANT'S & THE BARBARIAN'S TRAINING IS UNORTHODOX TO SAY THE LEAST
We were treated to a compilation video of Andre the Giant & The Barbarian training for their upcoming tag team bout against King Kong Bundy & Big John Studd. The unlikely duo had much different versions of training. Barbarian was seen running around the woods, throwing around logs and the like. Meanwhile, Andre looked annoyed to be there, but he did appear to have a six pack with him, so it wasn't a complete loss. Despite how unorthodox these two are, they will surely form a formidable team against Bundy & Studd.
MATCH #2 Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat (w/ Bobby "The Brain" Heenan) vs. Mark Faban
As one would expect, an easy and dominant win for The Dragon.
Ricky Steamboat pinned Mark Faban with the Flying Crossbody Press in 0:02:08. Rating: **
RICKY STEAMBOAT WANTS TO KNOW WHAT'S GOING ON WITH THE HEENAN FAMILY
After the match, Lord Alfred Hayes tried to get a word with Steamboat & Heenan after the win, but The Dragon had something else on his mind. He had a question for Bobby Heenan: "What is going on with the Four Horsemen?" Heenan tried to avoid answering the question and told Steamboat they should discuss this in the back, but Steamboat persisted. Heenan said that Steamboat has nothing to worry about - he's still a priority. The Brain added he wanted to wait to surprise Steamboat, but he has signed him in a 6-man tag match next week teaming with Arn Anderson & Tully Blanchard, who came out for their scheduled match. Steamboat looked a little less than thrilled, but he shook hands with his partners for next week before leaving to the back.
MATCH #3 "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson/Tully Blanchard (w/ Bobby "The Brain" Heenan) vs. Terry Gibbs/Dave Barbie
Arn & Tully are good. Very good. They systematically picked their opponents apart en route to an easy duke. Monsoon opined that these two were going to be future tag team champions, and it's hard to disagree. Niemiller reminded Monsoon that The Enforcer might end up being the World champion soon.
The Four Horsemen (Arn Anderson and Tully Blanchard) defeated Terry Gibbs and Dave Barbie when Anderson pinned Barbie with the Gourdbuster in 0:05:49. Rating: 3/4*
MATCH #4 The Power Company (w/ Jimmy Hart) vs. Brickhouse Brown/Buddy Ryder
The Power Company are riding a wave of success, coming away with victories in Philadelphia over both the Road Warriors & the Unholy Alliance (no matter the circumstances), and they continued that wave today with an easy victory.
The Power Company (Dino Bravo and Hercules) defeated Brickhouse Brown and Buddy Ryder when Hercules pinned Ryder after a gutwrench suplex in 0:01:54. Rating: 3/4*
After the match, Jimmy Hart grabbed the microphone and said that the Power Company deserves a shot at the World Tag Team Titles. Two men who agreed were THE ROCK 'N ROLL EXPRESS, as Ricky Morton & Robert Gibson came out, putting Bravo & Hercules over and saying that they were fighting champions. Morton & Gibson said that if the Power Company wanted it, they could have their title shot at The Big Event on August 28.
LIVE EVENT REPORT W/ GENE OKERLUND
"Mean" Gene Okerlund was speaking to someone in an ear piece as we cut to him for the Live Event Report. When he was finished, he announced that the match The Rock 'N Roll Express requested was now official as they will defend the World Tag Team Titles against The Power Company. Okerlund briefly went over Dino Bravo's history as a tag team champ, mentioning how he has held the titles in the past 6 different times with 5 different partners. Mean Gene added that we may be seeing a 6th on August 28.
Okerlund looked like he had more to announce, but he was interrupted by a celebrating HONKY TONK MAN, who had JIMMY HART & ADRIAN ADONIS alongside him. The party was clearly on, and during the celebration, Honky Tonk stated he was going to treat everyone next week with what they all want to see - him sing and dance. As they left, Okerlund looked too sickened to continue and threw it back to ringside.
MATCH #5 Ted DiBiase vs. "Gorgeous" Jimmy Garvin (w/ Precious)
Ted DiBiase was in a mood today in our feature bout. This was the first time we had seen him since losing the Intercontinental Title to Barry Windham, and considering the way that happened, you can't blame him for being in a bad mood. This worked both to his advantage and disadvantage during certain points of this match with "Gorgeous" Jimmy Garvin. When DiBiase was on top, he was downright ruthless. This also led to him being too aggressive though, and Garvin is someone who is so devious and crafty, you don't want to make mistakes against him. DiBiase had his work cut out for him, but he was eventually able to get the Cobra Clutch on and take the win.
Ted DiBiase made Jimmy Garvin submit to the Cobra Clutch in 0:09:00. Rating: **** [Precious interfered against Ted DiBiase.]
DiBiase wasn't in the mood to celebrate though, as he even cut off Howard Finkel and stole his microphone, just simply saying, "BARRY WINDHAM! GET OUT HERE... NOW!" Windham did come out with a big smile on his face, taunting DiBiase. DiBiase didn't even wait for Windham to get near the ring as he rushed him and the brawl was on! We were tragically out of time and didn't get to see the ending of the fight, but we hope to get an update next week on Superstars!
Join us next week on Superstars where Kerry Von Erich will be here, as well as The Rock 'N Roll Express! Bobby Heenan has set up a 6-man tag team match with Ricky Steamboat, Arn Anderson & Tully Blanchard teaming up, but will they be able to co-exist given the Dragon's reaction earlier? And our feature bout will be for the Television Title as Bad News Brown defends against Dos Caras! See you next week, everyone!

Welcome back! I'm disappointed Dave Barbie never formed a tag team with Steve Doll. It might have been a little artificial, like plastic, but it would have been fantastic.

Oh boy! Getting me fired up immediately with a monster tag team match announcement. And it looks like we'll be seeing a lot of Heenan in the coming weeks.
An historic promo here at The Spectrum introducing the Four Horseman! I don't envy you now that you're responsible for this iconic stable but it certainly helps the motivation we're looking for to get the Universe rolling again.
Strong tag match on free tv. Will be fun watching The Hart Foundation navigate through GCW with the Horsemen in the mix now. The same will be likely be said about a lot of your roster...
..especially Hulk Hogan! Hogan vs. a crew of pro wrestling savants (rather than a bunch of giant monsters) is such an incredibly exciting journey. I'm looking forward to it.
The Ivan write up... yeah, I like it.
The Live Event Report really hammered home how stacked your roster is right now.
Also, us: "Let's do shorter TV writeups when possible." "Ok." Then, you: MAKES SUPERSTARS LONGER!
Ah yes, you're most recent signee that I hate you for, Kerry Von Erich. But what a time for him to jump to GCW. He's got top babyface written all over him and even if there's a ceiling with Hogan around (maybe), he's gonna find himself rubbing elbows with Hogan and The Horsemen in no time.
8/9
HTM wins and I believe this is Dos Caras's role for his remainder in the Universe.
LOL! It never once crossed my mind we would get vignettes from Andre/Barbarian. I love it.
I really like how Heenan has all these fires to put out. Steamboat, though, I don't think there's any doubt where this one is going. He's a perennial babyface and while the heel experiment was fun, I think we need him on the good side.
A nice pair of tag matches here. Your tag division is no afterthought. The tag teams of the late 80's are legendary and you're really doing it justice in GCW. The RnR are the smallest tag team in wrestling and they're fighting monstrous teams month after month. Legends.
Ah yes, a live song by HTM next week! For sure will go perfectly from start to finish!
Pretty straightforward here between Deebs and Windham. And it's good stuff. Two of my all time favorites locked in a potentially career defining feud.

8/16/86 - GCW Superstars (TAPED: 8/5/86) LOCATION: Mid-Hudson Civic Center - Poughkeepsie, NY
Gorilla Monsoon & Mark Niemiller were on hand once again for another episode of GCW Superstars! A big show planned as our main event for today was Bad News Brown defending his Television Title against Dos Caras! Not only that, but Andre the Giant, the World Tag Team champion Rock 'N Roll Express, Kerry Von Erich, and so much more! But now to the ring with Howard Finkel and our first match of the day.
MATCH #1 "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson/Tully Blanchard/Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat (w/ Bobby "The Brain" Heenan) vs. Joe Mirto/Terry Gibbs/George Leech
As Bobby Heenan promised last week, he had signed a 6-man tag match for his charges Anderson, Blanchard, and Ricky Steamboat to try to show the Dragon that he still has a strong place in the Heenan Family even with the formation of the Four Horsemen. The match itself was what you'd expect. Even with Steamboat being a little tentative about his standing in the group, the trio had little trouble putting away their opponents. It was the post-match that would be memorable though.
The Four Horsemen (Arn Anderson and Tully Blanchard) and Ricky Steamboat defeated Joe Mirto, Terry Gibbs and George Leech when Anderson pinned Gibbs with the Gourdbuster in 0:04:57. Ricky Steamboat suffered a neck injury. He will be out for approximately 11 months. Rating: ** 1/4
THE DRAGON IS OUSTED FROM THE HEENAN FAMILY
The Brain asked Steamboat if he could now see what was going on. Heenan told the Dragon that this could be the start of a beautiful thing… but unfortunately, Steamboat wouldn't be around for it. Steamboat looked confused as Heenan then dressed him now, saying that ever since Heenan took the chance to bring the Dragon into the Family, he just didn't fit in. And last week was the last straw when Steamboat questioned Heenan's decision to form the Horsemen, and for that there would be consequences. Steamboat grabbed Heenan by the collar at this point, but was immediately cut off by Anderson & Blanchard. Steamboat tried to fight back, but the numbers got him. He would be laid out with a spike piledriver, not once, not twice, but THREE times! Eventually HULK HOGAN ran down to a thunderous ovation, chair in hand to run off The Horsemen, but Steamboat was in a bad way. He was put in a neck brace and stretchered out. It was hard to tell, but this appeared very serious. Even Niemiller was very somber, but he still managed to imply this was Steamboat's own fault for angering the Brain, a statement Monsoon was understandably appalled by.
MATCH #2 "The Modern Day Warrior" Kerry Von Erich vs. Tommy Sharp
After commercial, we had more action, but the mood was understandably altered as Monsoon and Niemiller discussed what just happened. In the ring, the Modern Day Warrior made quick work of Tommy Sharp.
Kerry Von Erich pinned Tommy Sharp with the Discus Punch in 0:01:44. Rating: 1/2*
After the match, Niemiller jumped off commentary and quickly interviewed Von Erich at ringside. Von Erich announced that President Jack Tunney let him know that at The Big Event, he will once again be taking on Lex Luger. A short clip of Luger's post-match attack on him 2 weeks ago was shown. Von Erich vowed revenge on Luger once and for all. Monsoon noted how serious Von Erich seemed, but Niemiller said after the beating Luger gave him two weeks ago, Von Erich might be leaving Toronto the same way Ricky Steamboat left tonight, a comment that drew great disdain from Monsoon.
MATCH #3 NON-TITLE MATCH The Rock 'N Roll Express (World Tag Team champions) vs. Gino Carabello/Rusty Brooks
A nice showcase match for the World Tag Team champions. Ricky Morton & Robert Gibson are riding high as they go into The Big Event and their title defense against the Power Company. The Express did an insert promo saying that Dino Bravo & Hercules might be big and strong, but the Rock 'N Roll Express are quicker, faster, and so much smarter, and that would lead to a successful title defense.
The Rock 'N Roll Express (Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson) defeated Gino Carabello and Rusty Brooks when R. Gibson pinned Brooks after the Double Dropkick in 0:03:14. Rating: * 1/4
LIVE EVENT REPORT W/ GENE OKERLUND
It was time for the segment with the giddiest man in wrestling man in wrestling, "Mean" Gene Okerlund and his Live Event Report. Okerlund is such an energetic little man, he even makes announcing an injury sound like he is having the time of his life. He said that originally his plan today was to announce and Intercontinental Title rematch for The Big Event where new champion Barry Windham would defend against former champion and bitter rival, Ted DiBiase. However, during the chaotic brawl that ended the program last week, Windham suffered a knee injury and will not be able to compete at this event. However, Okerlund did announce that instead, DiBiase will take on RIC FLAIR in what is sure to be a fantastic matchup. Okerlund went over the rest of the card, which now also includes a just added 8-man tag team contest that will pit Junkyard Dog, Koko B. Ware, and The Rougeau Brothers against Jimmy Hart's stable of Honky Tonk Man, Adrian Adonis, and The Hart Foundation.
MATCH #4 Andre the Giant vs. Tiger Chung Lee
God, why do these guys even try? Utter domination by the Eighth Wonder of the World.
Andre the Giant pinned Tiger Chung Lee with the Elbowdrop in 0:02:38. Rating: -1/2*
HONKY TONK MAN PICKS THE WRONG TIME TO TRY TO SING A SONG
Almost immediately after the match ended, Honky Tonk Man inexplicably decided this would be the best time to come out and try to play a song. He grabbed the microphone away from Howard Finkel before he could even finish announcing Andre the winner, and said he was going to grace the world with a hit song as soon as that big dummy got out of the ring. I don't know if HTM thought Andre didn't hear him, but he most certainly did as he turned around and backed HTM into a corner. Honky begged for his life, and to Andre's credit, he spared it, but Honky's prize guitar was not so lucky. Andre smashed the guitar on the mat into a million pieces, much to the chagrin of Honky and Jimmy Hart.
Back from a commercial, Jimmy Hart was beside himself, saying that they both could have been killed and that Andre had no right to do that. Honky vowed that he would get revenge for the death of Peggy Sue (which is presumably what HTM had named his guitar). Niemiller said that Andre has no idea what he got himself into messing with Honky Tonk Man. Monsoon could do nothing but huff at the ridiculousness of it.
MATCH #5 TELEVISION TITLE MATCH Bad News Brown (c) vs. Dos Caras
Main event time and it featured Bad News Brown making a Television Title defense against Dos Caras, just 12 days before Jim Duggan gets his rematch for the title at The Big Event. We got an insert promo from Duggan in the middle of this match saying that he knew Brown was a low down pile of scum, using a foreign object to secure the Television Title. Hacksaw said he let his guard down and that was his own fault, but the same thing won't happen at The Big Event. Almost like Bad News was listening, he once again pulled something out of his tights and used it to blast Dos Caras into next week, allowing him to retain the TV Title.
Bad News Brown pinned Dos Caras after hitting him with a foreign object in 0:07:58. Rating: *** (Bad News Brown retained the GCW Television Title.)
This may have worked this time, but you have to believe ol' Hacksaw will be ready for all of Brown's dirty tricks at The Big Event.
Join us next week on Superstars as the final push to The Big Event takes place! Ahead of their match in Toronto, both Ted DiBiase & Ric Flair will be in action. Junkyard Dog will take on Lex Luger, we'll have an injury report on Ricky Steamboat, and in our feature bout, The Rougeau Brothers will wrestle THe Hart Foundation in a #1 contenders match with the winning team earning a championship match on the first 90-minute Superstars on September 6! Have a wonderful week, everyone!

What a way to write off Ricky Steamboat. Maybe a year from now he'll be back for revenge.
LOL HTM.
Kerry Von Erich as "The Modern Day Warrior" makes me wonder in what form we'll eventually see Jim Hellwig.

Wonder of wonder, miracle of miracles... this is a pleasant surprise to see this universe awaken from hibernation. Looking forward to future cards from you guys. Since I'm here, let's do some feedback.
8/2
Wow, the Horsemen are here to face off against Hogan and allies (whoever they end up being). This is quite the interesting dynamic for the 80s. Let's see how this turns out.
I don't know, even if Heenan says that Bundy is still a priority, that's way too many wrestlers for him to prioritize. Something probably is going to give somewhere for Heenan and one or some of his current charges.
Harts getting into position for another title shot.
Hogan doing an interview from the set of a Honey Nut Cheerios commercial is such a great detail in fleshing pout how big he's getting in popularity. It's definitely a numbers game for Hulk against the Horsemen.
The timing of the Nikita injury was unfortunate, but good to see Ivan getting some TV time.
A Boot Camp match between those two teams! Will there be anything left?
Going from 60 to 90 minutes is a huge step. Kerry vs Luger seems like a good feud to reintroduce Kerry and help establish the still novice Luger.
8/9
Solid win for HTM. I wish that Andre and barbarian training vignette was a rel thing, just fantastic.
See, Steamboat sees the exact same problems I do in Heenan having to manage all of these guys. As great as Heenan is, there's no way he can make everyone a priority. At least Heenan is trying by having his guys team up in six man next week. no better way to show unity. Right?
Power Company is an interesting pairing, should be a good challenge for the RNR Express. Oh Honky, don't ever change, I guess we have no choice but to 'enjoy' his talents next week.
Good win for DiBiase and this feud with Windham has been just fantastic.
8/16
So, uh, I kind of expected Steamboat getting turfed eventually since the seeds were being planted, but I was blindsided by how quick and vicious it happened. That was very well done, Heenan and the Horsemen are not messing around. Looks like Steamboat really got injured here, so this is just a great way to do write him out. Thinking on it, this is your universe's version of the Savage bell attack. Instead of getting a ring bell dropped on his throat, Steamboat has a career threatening neck injury from several vicious spike piledrivers. If by some miracle he manages to be ready and able to be back by Supercade 3... but who knows if he'll be around and even have a career by then. But this whole angle just completely took me by surprise in the best way.
Some matches to showcase KVE and the RNR Express as they get ready for their matches at The Big Event. Oh, Flair stepping in for Windham to face DiBiase. That match should be interesting.
Honky crossing Andre, it's always great to see Honky's delusions of grandeur bite him in the butt. Bad News and Duggan will be another hard hitting affair.
Just great to see this back and running. The Big Event will be a happening for sure. One thing I forget is how you guys are doing real life career altering injuries, if you're ignoring them or working them in depending on the case. There's a couple that could affect some of the wrestlers here depending on how you handle them.

Oh my! Major injury here for Steamboat. That's very unfortunate. The situation elevates The Horsemen though. Hogan, of course, the hero which means he's gonna have a great friend by his side 11 months from now.
Simple but effective segments for Von Erich and RnRs.
Flair vs. Dibiase cannot be glossed over. That's one hell of a backup plan for Windham. And that 8 man tag looks like a lot of fun.
It would appear Andre sat on Tiger Chung Lee for 2 and half minutes. Excellent!
We're gonna get an Andre/HTM match out of this?! Wow!
As predicted, Bad News retains. He and Duggan gone slug it out!

What a way to write off Ricky Steamboat. Maybe a year from now he'll be back for revenge. LOL HTM. Kerry Von Erich as "The Modern Day Warrior" makes me wonder in what form we'll eventually see Jim Hellwig. The pain of it is, this angle was supposed to be what set up a major feud with Hogan/Steamboat feuding with the Horsemen, but had to tweak it big time with the real injury.

There's a couple that could affect some of the wrestlers here depending on how you handle them. The general rule is, if it was a real life in-ring injury/incident, we ignore it. Droz might not end up being paralyzed, whereas Flair might get injured next show and never be able to wrestle again. If it was an out of ring thing, i.e. a car accident, a drug overdose death, etc., then we honor it. Obviously there's some leeway to it all as this is all for fun and pretend anyway, but part of the fun of this for us is creating our own world and history in the parameters of real life events.

Horrible break for Ricky Steamboat as it seems he was gonna get a big face push. Gotta wonder though what's gonna happen with other Heenan Family members. I'm most intrigued by Lex Luger. Does he get the face turn Steamboat was in line for?
Gotta love an Andre vs. Honky Tonk Man feud!

The reason I brought it up is because I was wondering how you were thinking of handling (if at all) things like Andre the Giant's back surgery due to his acromegaly or Kerry Von Erich's motorcycle accident.

The motorcycle accident is being sort of ignored for right now. Mostly because I forgot about when it actually happened. Haha. But really, for the sake of what we're doing, I'm not super concerned with something like that being exact. It may be something that I arbitrarily make a different date.

It's more than fine, it was just curiosity on my end. The most important thing about these feds is to have fun with them. Looking forward to future cards from the universe.

8/23/86 - GCW Superstars (TAPED: 8/5/86) LOCATION: Mid-Hudson Civic Center - Poughkeepsie, NY
As always, Gorilla Monsoon & Mark Niemiller welcome us to this week's episode of GCW Superstars. They go over the day's action and throw it to the ring and Howard Finkel.
MATCH #1 Big John Studd/King Kong Bundy (w/ Bobby "The Brain" Heenan) vs. Terry Morgan/Ivan McDonald
Bobby Heenan clearly has a lot on his plate as he tries to keep all of his charges happy. Those under his tutelage who aren't apart of The Four Horsemen have not taken kindly to essentially being second fiddle. Even during this match, Heenan seemed distracted, not paying much attention to Big John Studd or King Kong Bundy at all. I mean, they didn't really need much coaching here, but you could tell they were bothered by it. Monsoon mentioned that they saw what happened to Ricky Steamboat and might be wondering - are we next? Niemiller told him to quit stirring the pot and that everything is fine in The Heenan Family. Monsoon said it better be if they're going to have a shot against Andre the Giant & The Barbarian.
The Heenan Family (Big John Studd and King Kong Bundy) defeated Terry Morgan and Ivan McDonald when Studd pinned Morgan after a short lariat in 0:03:25. Rating: -1/4*
MATCH #2 Ted DiBiase vs. Mr. X
Needless to say, DiBiase was not in the mood to mess around today. Quick one here.
Ted DiBiase pinned Mr. X after a fistdrop in 0:01:00. Rating: *
DiBiase immediately grabbed Finkel's microphone from him right after being announced the winner. DiBiase said that he wouldn't be surprised if he heard Barry Windham was faking his knee injury because he was scared of him, but he said that's fine. He's a patient man, and will enjoy getting his hands on the man he says is responsible for costing him the Intercontinental championship, Ric Flair. Monsoon said he's never seen DiBiase in a mood quite like this. Niemiller agreed but said it wouldn't matter because no one is better than Ric Flair.
INJURY REPORT ON RICKY STEAMBOAT
Before we got to our next match, Monsoon & Niemiller gave an update on the condition of Ricky Steamboat after the vicious attack he suffered last week at the hands of The Horsemen. Monsoon announced that after the 3 Spike Piledrivers from Arn Anderson & Tully Blanchard, Steamboat suffered a broken neck and may never be able to return to wrestling again. Niemiller actually made it sound like he was being empathetic by saying you never want to see anyone get hurt, but of course had to add that this is what happens when you question The Brain. Speaking of Bobby Heenan, he had heard them talking and interrupted the interview area with LEX LUGER. Heenan was irate saying that no one cares about Ricky Steamboat and he got what he deserved. What we all should be worrying about it what Lex Luger is about to do to Junkyard Dog. Monsoon asked Luger if he was worried he'd get the same treatment as The Dragon seeing as he's not a member of the Four Horsemen. Heenan pulled Luger away before he could answer, but the look of concern on Luger's face was very apparent.
MATCH #3 Junkyard Dog vs. "The Total Package" Lex Luger (w/ Bobby "The Brain" Heenan)
Luger looked very distracted early on in this one, and with someone as wild as Junkyard Dog, that isn't something you want to do. JYD is already a handful, and he was getting the better of the rookie in a big way. Eventually Luger sensed where this was going and decided instead of dealing with an excitable JYD, he was going to choke him until he was disqualified. Even Heenan seemed upset by this as he lost out on the winner's slice of the money, but it's clear Luger's head isn't on straight right now. Monsoon mentioned that The Total Package better get his mind right or Kerry Von Erich will take him to task at The Big Event.
Junkyard Dog defeated Lex Luger by disqualification in 0:05:08. Rating: 1/4*
HULK HOGAN COMMENTS ON THE HORSEMEN
We were then thrown to a pre-recorded interview by World champion Hulk Hogan. He mostly referenced the Four Horsemen and talked about his World Title defense this coming Thursday against Arn Anderson. He said that this match will be the toughest of his title reign so far as he knows that that weasel Bobby Heenan and the Horsemen will stop at nothing to get the title. Some vitamins and prayers later and this was done. This is going to be a hell of a main event in Toronto.
MATCH #4 "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair (w/ Bobby "The Brain" Heenan) VS. AJ Petruzzi
This was nothing more than a tune up for The Big Event. Needless to say, Flair vs. Ted DiBiase is going to be one for the books.
Ric Flair pinned AJ Petruzzi with the Figure-Four Leglock in 0:03:09. Rating: 3/4*
LIVE EVENT REPORT W/ GENE OKERLUND
This was one of the weirder Live Event Reports to date. "Mean" Gene Okerlund was dressed in a Toronto Maple Leafs hockey jersey as he was fully embracing the hometown team of our home for the Big Event this Thursday. That in itself isn't too weird. But it was weird that he was dressed like this while giving an update on the very serious injury suffered by Ricky Steamboat last week. Okerlund revealed the diagnosis was a severely injured neck and as of right now, there's no certain timeline on if, or even when, the Dragon can return. Okerlund used this as a means to hammer home just how dangerous the Four Horsemen are, and that if Hulk Hogan isn't careful, he could meet the same fate. Other than that, this was just the final hype before the Big Event!
MATCH #5 Winner receives World Tag Team Title shot on 9/6/86 Superstars The Rougeau Brothers vs. The Hart Foundation (w/ Jimmy Hart)
The Rougeau Brothers are an incredibly talented team, but they haven't been able to put it all together. The Hart Foundation, however, are looking like they're putting it together just at the right time. Our featured bout today was for a World Tag Team Title shot on the first 90-minute episode of Superstars on September 6, and Jimmy Hart wants his team to be a part of it. During the match, we saw a shot of the current champions, RICKY MORTON & ROBERT GIBSON, watching this match from the back and taking mental notes. Bret Hart & Jim Neidhart are firing on all cylinders right now, and despite a feisty performance by the French Canadians, the Hart Foundation took this one and will challenge the winner of the match between The Rock 'N Roll Express and The Power Company.
Number-One-Contenders-Match: The Hart Foundation (Bret Hart and Jim Neidhart) defeated The Rougeau Brothers (Jacques Rougeau and Raymond Rougeau) when B. Hart pinned R. Rougeau after a German suplex in 0:12:24. Rating: *** 1/2
Join us next week on Superstars where we will have all of the fallout from The Big Event! So long, everybody!

All these years later and I'm still feeling sorry for Terry Morgan and Ivan McDonald. A literal squash match.

Seems like Studd & Bundy are the last 2 guys you’d want to upset. In all honesty, Studd could be a great babyface someday if we’re headed down that road.
The thought of a Dibiase/Flair grudge in ’86 gives me goosebumps.
Leave it to Monsoon to stir the pot within the Heenan Family. I’m not halfway through the card and the names on your roster at this point are incredible. No wonder you’re fired up to write.
Also, I don’t envy you having to find a spot for everyone. JYD might get lost in the shuffle (but he’d have a home in WWA!) Luger is just getting started so we know how bright his future is no matter what side of the fence he ends up on.
Hogan’s gonna promo! I’ve said it a million times but Hogan’s run in GCW is going to be so much more than just bodyslam, legdrop. Brother’s gonna have to WORK to keep his belt in this Universe.
Again, Flair/Deebs. Goosebumps. Speaking of Deebs, if things don’t work out, Gary Hart might have a million dollars for a guy like him to come over and take out Dusty Rhodes.
Legit LOL for the Live Event Report opening.
The Rougeau’s are likely just good hands from here on out. Your tag division is insane and the Hart Foundation will have the rockets on their backs in no time.

Thanks, Russ! I think there's a slim chance the Rougeaus get a tag reign at some point just based on how much I enjoy their role here, but without having a crystal ball, I think Jacques has more success forthcoming if he sticks around long enough for a Mountie/Quebecers run.
