I don't think Reed interferes but I do believe he will show his face at some point in Greensboro.
We're getting a lot of build for the U.S. title match in the early part of the show. A Hennig squash followed by a good Savage promo really sets the tone for tonight's big card.
Eaton victorious over Bruce Hart here. Hmmm... I'm thinking the Harts might get the upset in Greensboro.
Awesome promo from Fernandez. The chicken suit match is such a great idea!
Koloff has been squashing guys for a long time. It will be interesting to see how he hangs with Hogan. He won't win the belt but I believe he'll get a big rub from the match.
The Dirty Cowboys match is one I'm especially looking forward to. I like the angle these guys have had since Piper has left and I'm interested to see how things play out after Greensboro.
The Borne/Lawler angle could have possibly just become my favorite! Borne putting Lawler in matches to make money for him is genius.
Parsons & Roberts are no Hayes & Gordy. Ole & Rich should probably consider this a warmup for what is sure to be one hell of a match later.
Greensboro looks incredible. Pretty funny that the Chicken Suit Match is the first official match made for what should be your biggest show of the year.

NWF - Greensboro, NC – 10/20/85:
Match #1 Four Horsemen (“Wildfire” Tommy Rich/Ole Anderson) w/ JJ Dillon vs. The Fabulous Freebirds (Terry “Bamm Bamm” Gordy/Michael “P.S.” Hayes)
We are live in Greensboro, North Carolina. And what better way to start the show off then the return to the ring of Terry “Bamm Bamm” Gordy! The crowd nearly blew the roof off of the arena when “Badstreet, USA” came over the speakers. Gordy hasn't competed inside the ring since his epic encounter with Hulk Hogan in early March. It had been eight months, and he was hungry for action. It was icing on the cake that he'd be able to get his hands on Tommy Rich and Ole Anderson, two men who ambushed him last week on Worldwide, in his first match back. They did their best to try and keep Michael Hayes in the ring, but Gordy would not be denied. When he was in the ring, it was all Bamm Bamm. The Power Bomb put an end to the two Horsemen's night.
The Fabulous Freebirds (Michael Hayes and Terry Gordy) defeated Four Horsemen (Ole Anderson and Tommy Rich) when T. Gordy pinned Rich with the Power Bomb in 0:12:38. Rating: * ¾
Hayes and Gordy were joined by Iceman King Parsons and Buddy Roberts after the match. All four men threw on their leather jackets and had a mini-rock concert with their song playing and Hayes moonwalking across the ring. Ric Flair is not going to be happy with this result.
Match #2 Number One Contenders Match The Midnight Express (w/ Jim Cornette/Big Bubba Rogers) vs. The Hart Brothers
The Hart family is one of the best known families in the business. The patriarch, Stu Hart, has not only had a successful career of his own, but has trained numerous stars that are emerging on the scene. Two of those are his sons, Bruce and Keith, who have been on fire since entering the NWF. They earned the biggest win of their career last week on Worldwide when they defeated the Road Warriors via disqualification thanks to Jim Cornette's interference. Neither the Warriors or the Harts were happy with what happened, but there was little they could do about it. And now we had the finals of our mini-tag team tournament to crown the number one contenders to the World Tag Team Titles held by the Dream Team. With all that said, “Beautiful” Bobby and “Loverboy” Dennis were the vast favorites going into this match. Many feel it is only a matter of time before the Midnight Express win the NWF Tag Titles for the first time and become two-time World Tag Team Champions. We didn't get the great technical match we were all expecting, but I think part of the problem was the Midnight Express were concerned that the Road Warriors might be looking for revenge. Their worries were justified since Hawk and Animal showed up as the match was starting to increase in pace. Eaton had Keith set for the Alabama Jam, but this momentary distraction allowed Keith to get back to his feet. Eaton, without noticing, jumped off and landed right in Keith's arms and straight into a backbreaker. It was so sudden that Dennis Condrey was unable to get into the ring to break up the count. The Hart Brothers with the huge upset!
Number-One-Contenders-Match: The Hart Brothers (Keith Hart and Bruce Hart) defeated The Midnight Express (Bobby Eaton and Dennis Condrey) when Keith Hart pinned Eaton after a backbreaker in 0:10:22. Rating: **
Jim Cornette was furious after the match, waving his tennis racket wildly, and threatening to get referee Gil Roman fired for not overturning his decision. The Hart Brothers gave high fives to Hawk and Animal in the aisle, and will now turn their attention to the Dream Team on November 3rd. Meanwhile, in breaking news, Jim Cornette has signed his team up to face the Road Warriors at Starrcade. This will be one last match to settle the score between the two teams who have been feuding with each other since the Great American Bash in July. The Championship Committee has already looked into a special stipulation for this match to ensure that there will be no outside interference from Jim Cornette or Big Bubba Rogers.
Match #3 Jerry “The King” Lawler (w/ “Maniac” Matt Borne) vs. Brutus Beefcake (w/ “Luscious Johnny V)
What an odd sight it was to see “Maniac” Matt Borne accompany Jerry Lawler to the ring. The fans were hesitant to cheer on one of their favorites due to his “alliance” with Borne. On Lawler's behalf, he didn't look thrilled to be out there with Borne either. But he has promised to try and help support Borne's family until he has recovered enough to get back in the ring. Borne still had his face entirely bandages except for an eye and his mouth. Good thing, too, since he spent most of the match cheering on Lawler. Brutus Beefcake, one half of the Tag Team Champions, wasn't thrilled with Borne slinking around on the outside, but still gave Lawler a tough contest. He might have even been on his way to victory when he went to suplex Lawler back into the ring from the ring apron. Lawler adjusted his weight on the way in, however, and landed directly on top of Beefcake. It might have been enough on its own to get the three count, but Borne made sure of it by reaching into the ring and holding down Beefcake's foot to prevent the kickout.
Jerry Lawler pinned Brutus Beefcake after reversing a suplex in 0:07:51. Rating: * ½
Lawler didn't understand the negative reaction from the fans. He shot Borne a questioning stare to try and figure out what had happened. Borne was giddy on the outside while Johnny V almost had a conniption. Borne was telling fans at ringside that his son, Jack, could now get those braces he so desperately needed. Lawler wanted nothing to do with any celebration as he left the ring quickly. Doubt he'll be too happy when he figures out what happened. Meanwhile, “Luscious” Johnny V held up one of the Tag Titles so Beefcake could primp his hair in the reflection. That seemed to lower the frustration of both men.
Match #4 “Mr. Wonderful” Paul Orndorff (w/ “Superstar” Billy Graham) vs. “The Cruncher” Larry Zbyszko
Before the match could even begin, Paul Orndorff vented his frustrations over the house microphone about not headlining this event. He said his title defense wasn't even printed in bold lettering on the poster for this show. And there was no picture of himself either! He held up the poster in question which showed Hulk Hogan versus Nikita Koloff as the main event with pictures of both men on it. Underneath that was Paul Orndorff's match with Larry Zbyszko. Orndorff held up his title and said that it was the real World Title, and he would not stand for this disrespect any longer. Thankfully, the fans didn't have to stand for listening to him any longer as Larry Zbyszko whipped him around and drilled him with a lariat.
Zbyszko is known for his no-nonsense attitude. We saw a lot of that tonight. He paid no attention to Billy Graham's constant attempts at interference. His full focus was on dishing out as much pain and punishment as he could on Mr. Wonderful. Orndorff would fight back with his own attempts to wear down the Cruncher. Weakening Zbyszko's neck was the game plan to properly set him up for the Piledriver. The fans were less than appreciative of Orndorff's style and ability to break the rules while official Dave Hebner's back was turned, and so they let loose a raucous chant of “PAULA!” to get under his skin. It worked perfectly and soon Zbyszko had regained the advantage. Graham saw the match getting out of hand as Orndorff was begging for mercy several times throughout the match. Superstar Graham made one last attempt at interference as he grabbed Orndorff's “World Title” and tried to get into the ring. Zbyszko caught him with a knee to the chin, however, to put a stop to that. The blow sent the title belt flying into the hands of Orndorff. While Hebner pushed Graham back to the outside, Zbyszko turned around and walked right into a face full of Orndorff's counterfeit championship. Orndorff tossed it to the outside and made the cover. Zbyszko was on dream street, and had no chance of kicking out.
Paul Orndorff pinned Larry Zbyszko after hitting him with a foreign object in 0:15:07. Rating: ** ¾
Seconds after the bell rang, out ran HULK HOGAN to a huge roar from the crowd. Hogan slid into the ring and explained to Dave Hebner what had happened. Hebner listened intently and then angrily questioned Paul Orndorff. Zbyszko's nose had been busted open from the shot with the title, and when Hogan showed Hebner the title belt with the blood still on it, Hebner called for Gary Michael Cappetta. After a brief conversation, Cappetta announced that the decision had been reversed and the winner via disqualification was Larry Zbyszko!
Larry Zbyszko defeated Paul Orndorff via disqualification in 0:15:07. Rating: ** ¾
Zbyszko was woozy as Hogan helped him to his feet. Orndorff was furious on the outside. He grabbed his title and ran over to Cappetta. With Billy Graham and Paul Orndorff shoving him back and forth, they got him to announce over the loud speaker that the World Title cannot change hands via disqualification and thus Paul Ondorff remained champion. This raised the ire of both Zbyszko and Hogan who took after Orndorff and Graham. The chase led them all the way to the locker rooms.
Match #5 Everyone Banned From Ringside Harley Race vs. Hercules Hernandez
Hercules Hernandez looked like a fish out of water without Johnny V in his corner. He tried to portray confidence, but when Harley Race stepped into the ring there was a visible gulp from Hernandez. Word came before the match that Race was able to add a clause to this match that if he were to win, he would get a shot at the Tag Team Titles at a later date. This put even more pressure on Hercules since the Dream Team already has the Hart Brothers to worry about. The last thing they needed was to also have Race and a partner lurking around the title picture. As the match began, Hercules weathered the storm of an angry Harley Race. He used his strength to keep pushing Race away, and would finally catch him coming in with an almost blatant low blow. Referee Randy Anderson gave him some latitude but warned Hercules that another such move would earn him a disqualification. Hercules had the advantage and used it to drop Race with several powerful moves including a powerslam that almost led to a pinfall. Hercules started to showboat a little too much, mocking Race by slapping him around, and pushing him down whenever he tried to get his feet. One thing you don't want to do is anger Harley Race, and that's exactly what he was doing. Race finally burst out with some offense of his own which led to them brawling on the outside. Race got the upper hand and smashed Hercules into the ringpost a few times to bust him wide open. Back in the ring, Hercules was swinging wildly, but he was blinded by his near crimson mask. Race saw his opening and never took his foot off the gas at this point. The Piledriver put an end to this match and gave Race the revenge he had been looking for.
Match with Everyone Banned From Ringside: Harley Race pinned Hercules Hernandez with the Piledriver in 0:09:36. Rating: ** ¼
Harley Race got on the house microphone after the match and told Hercules now that he had his blood, he was also ready to take his gold. He felt sorry for Brutus Beefcake because it was Hercules that brought this on himself. But now, Beefcake was going to have to pay with his gold also.
Match #6 Curt Hennig vs. “Macho Man” Randy Savage (w/ Miss Elizabeth)
These two men are the future of wrestling. It can be said that Randy Savage has already entered his prime, holding the US Title earlier this year, and forming the Mega Powers with Hulk Hogan. Curt Hennig has also vastly improved since his team with Scott Hall, defeating Nikita Koloff a few months ago, and coming THIS close to winning the US Title himself from Butch Reed. It is too bad that Savage has no respect for Hennig's talents. This has led to several altercations. None more so physical than when Savage hit Hennig with his Flying Elbowdrop at the Clash “by accident,” and Hennig retaliating by causing Savage to be eliminated at the hands of Paul Orndorff. This was no accident as Hennig pushed Savage off the top turnbuckle.
Hennig and Savage are extremely popular with the fans, and so they were decidedly split as each man took turns on offense. You would almost think they were relieved when US Champion Butch Reed showed up during the match as they had someone to jeer. To his credit, Reed did not interfere in the match as he was out there to get a close look at the two men vying for his title. It wouldn't be until later that he would become a factor. And what a good thing that was because we witnessed a tremendous match between the two. Savage may not have respected Hennig's abilities before this match, but I'd find it hard to believe he didn't after it. The match started off as a mat based affair, quickly turned into a brawl, then we saw a brief aerial war, before it morphing into both men trying to get a flash pin with every move in their playbook. The frustration was growing, and Miss Elizabeth was noticing it at ringside. She went over to give some reassurance to Savage, but in doing so, angered Hacksaw. He verbally berated her for even coming near him, and started to slowly stalk her around ringside. Hennig had just caught Savage with a beautiful kneelift and had him setup for the Fisherman Suplex when he saw what was going on. He dropped Savage, left the ring, and escorted Elizabeth to the other side of the ring with a harsh warning to Reed to leave her alone. Hennig went to get back into the ring, but Savage kicked the middle rope causing it to crotch him! Savage caught the hunched over Hennig with a DDT and earned the hard fought victory.
Randy Savage pinned Curt Hennig after a DDT in 0:20:43. Rating: ****
After the match, Reed left ringside with his title. Elizabeth explained to the Macho Man what had happened. With this knowledge, Savage helped Hennig up and offered his hand, but Hennig wanted no part of it. He was able to wrestle the microphone out of Cappetta's grasp and told Savage he once wanted the Macho Man's respect. No longer. He could tell what kind of man he was even if no one else could. He no longer wanted Savage's respect because he held no respect for him. Hennig spit on the mat and left the ring. Savage shrugged his shoulders and gave Elizabeth a big hug as the fans didn't know how to react. One thing is for sure, Savage should be in line for another shot at Reed's US Title. We heard later he will get that shot at Starrcade!
Match #7 Four Horsemen (“The Nature Boy” Ric Flair/Greg “The Hammer” Valentine) (w/ JJ Dillon/Woman) vs. Dirty Cowboys (w/ Kerry Von Erich)
The Four Horsemen were coming off a difficult loss to the Fabulous Freebirds earlier in the evening, and so Ric Flair and Greg Valentine needed his win to continue the Horsemen's momentum. Dirty Cowboys, meanwhile, are looking to cash in on their big payday and the only way to do that is to put Flair and Valentine out to pasture. Kerry Von Erich agreed to come to the ring with them to keep the other Horsemen, JJ Dillon, and Woman in check. It was a big task, but Kerry was the right man for the job. These two teams met all the way back in April and the Cowboys came out victorious. That was in the middle of a feud between Valentine and Flair. Needless to say, they were on the same page tonight, unlike last time, and were going to give Slater and Orton a much more difficult fight. The two teams were very slow in getting started. There were several collar and elbow lockups that didn't lead to much. Several tags in and out. They were just feeling each other out. Slater would get the upper hand on Flair as the minutes dragged on and had him in the corner. Several vicious chops led to JJ Dillon getting up on the ring apron to complain. But he didn't stop there. JJ Dillon actually entered the ring to berate the official. It was a wonder the Horsemen weren't disqualified on the spot, but Kerry Von Erich slid into the ring to dispose of the manager. Right when he grabbed Dillon by his tie, Von Erich was clocked upside the head … by DICK SLATER! Orton quickly joined Slater in the ring to put the boots to Von Erich as Flair and Valentine could hardly contain their laughter.
Four Horsemen (Ric Flair and Greg Valentine) and Dirty Cowboys (Bob Orton Jr. and Dick Slater) battled to a no-contest in 0:04:03. Rating: **
A whip into the ropes led to Slater planting Von Erich with a spinebuster. That was closely followed by several legdrops from Orton. Flair let out a loud “WHOO!” to a largely negative reaction before applying the Figure-Four. Valentine shook the hands of both Orton and Slater and then motioned for Dillon to come forward. Dillon pulled out his checkbook and started writing in it as Woman joined the men in the ring. Flair was having a great deal of fun in using the ropes to apply even more pressure to the Figure-Four Leglock he had applied to Kerry. Dillon handed Slater the check who swiftly put it in his back pocket. Orton and Slater left ringside, but not before apologizing over the house mic. Slater said the money they earned tonight was nearly double what their former employer had promised them. Orton added there was no way he could turn down the opportunity to lay out a Von Erich and make a hefty sum. The Dirty Cowboys were going to laugh all the way to the bank while Flair and Valentine put the finishing touches on Von Erich. Thankfully, they were unable to complete the job, probably aiming to break Von Erich's leg, as all four members of the Fabulous Freebirds were there to make the save.
Match #8 George “The Animal” Steele vs. Big Bubba Rogers (w/ Jim Cornette)
The crowd was still abuzz after the heinous actions of the Flair and Valentine. They released some of their anger on Jim Cornette and Big Bubba Rogers as they rained down boos upon them. George Steele is so unorthodox that it is hard to prepare someone to face him. Especially a newcomer like Big Bubba. Steele frustrated Bubba from the opening bell by running around ringside. Whenever Bubba would get his hands on Steele, the Animal would chomp down on his fingers, arms, or legs, or whatever else was available. Bubba is going to have bite marks all over his body after this match. Steele would eventually make a mistake of trying to nail Rogers with an actual wrestling move as he came off the ropes, and Rogers caught him with the Big Bubba Slam to put an end to the match.
Big Bubba Rogers pinned George Steele with the Big Bubba Slam in 0:04:00. Rating: * ½
Jim Cornette entered the ring and got into the face of the downed Steele. Rogers was busy celebrating his win so he never saw Steele come to. The Animal ripped Cornette's tennis racket out of his hands, jumped to his feet, and plastered Cornette's backside with the racket. Cornette hollered in pain as he ran around the ring to escape. Rogers heard the commotion, but when he turned around to handle Steele, all he got was a shot between the eyes with the tennis racket. Rogers quickly rolled to the outside in pain. Cornette wasn't far behind as Steele grabbed him by his jacket and the seat of his pants and hurled him over the top rope and to the outside. Rogers collected his fallen manager as Steele growled inside the ring.
Match #9 World Title Match Hulk Hogan (c) vs. “The Russian Nightmare” Nikita Koloff (w/ “Luscious” Johnny V)
Johnny V decided to bring a Russian Flag down to the ring for this match, obviously to remind Nikita Koloff during the match that he was fighting for his country. A huge roar erupted from the crowd when Hulk Hogan emerged carrying his own American Flag! Hogan and Johnny V waved their opposing flags at one another as the crowd chanted “USA!” Referee Dave Hebner was eventually able to convince them to go back to their own corners, but Hogan barely had time to rip his shirt off during his introduction before Koloff clobbered him from behind.
This was Koloff's biggest match of his career to this point. He bellowed out in fury as he went to work with his devastating blows. Hogan was on the ropes early and often trying to avoid the massive shots from the Russian Nightmare. Hogan kept going down to a knee, but Koloff was relentless. The fans would get behind Hogan and give him surges of adrenaline, but they would only last so long before Koloff would hit some sort of big maneuver to put an end to it. The match almost ended when Koloff ducked under the Big Boot from Hogan, came off the ropes, and drilled Hogan with the Russian Sickle! No one gets up from that, but thankfully for Hogan, he fell through the ropes and to the outside. Hebner started the count of ten, but Hogan slowly was able to use the ring apron to get back to his feet. At the count of nine Hogan slid back into the ring, but it was obvious he was hurting. Koloff locked Hogan in a bearhug to try and soften him up even more. Hogan was fading as Koloff continued to apply the pressure to his lower back. Something snapped in Hogan, however, as the fans picked up their chant of USA again. Johnny V continued to wave the Russian Flag on the outside and that only got the crowd to get louder. Hogan shook his head back and forth before driving his fist into Koloff's nose several times. Koloff refused to release the hold, but was forced to when Hogan chomped on the bridge of his nose with his teeth! Koloff released the hold as the fans exploded.
Hogan had Koloff reeling as he slammed him to the mat. Koloff quickly got back to his feet, but was nailed with several right hands. Koloff tried to fire back, but all it got him was Hogan's finger in his face, wagging back and forth. Hogan read him the riot act before drilling him with another right hand. That's when PAUL ORNDORFF and BILLY GRAHAM came to the ring! Orndorff ran over to the ring announcer's table and demanded Cappetta announce something. He refused and so Orndorff threw him to the floor. Orndorff said that this match was not for the World Title and needed to be stopped immediately. He called the match a farce as Hogan was a false champion. This distraction led to Hogan getting caught from behind by Koloff. Koloff nailed him with several shots to his lower back before whipping him into the ropes. He went for his Russian Sickle, but Hogan ducked under it. As both men rebounded off the ropes, Hogan caught Koloff with the Axe Bomber! Hogan immediately landed his Big Leg Drop and Hebner counted the three.
Hulk Hogan pinned Nikita Koloff with the Big Leg Drop in 0:13:42. Rating: * 3/4 (Hulk Hogan retained the NWF World Title.)
Hogan got to his feet, but he was clearly exhausted from the war he had just been in. Paul Orndorff hopped up on the ring apron with his World Title in hand and proclaimed it the rightful championship. Hogan grabbed Orndorff and was about to nail him with a right hand, but Orndorff shoved him away. Hogan staggered back, turned around, and was drilled with the Russian Sickle by Nikita! Orndorff quickly joined the ring along with Graham and Johnny V. Orndorff lifted Hogan up and planted him with the Piledriver! Hogan landed hard on his neck, and started to shake in the ring as he held his neck in pain. After already being softened up by the Sickle, who knows what sort of damage that Piledriver did? Orndorff didn't look like he was done as circled Hogan, but thankfully, out ran RANDY SAVAGE and LARRY ZBYSZKO to clear the ring. The fans exploded as they stood guard while Hogan laid on the mat in pain. Orndorff raised his own World Title on the outside. What a terrible way for Hogan's night to end.
**BREAKING NEWS**
In Kansas City, Missouri on November 3rd, a match has already been signed where Hulk Hogan will team with Larry Zbyszko to face Paul Orndorff and Nikita Koloff. What a tag team match that is going to be! We can only hope that Hogan will be at a full one hundred percent for that match.

Good show, really helped set the stage for Starrcade. The Hogan/Orndorff blowoff is almost assured. Zybyzko and Koloff can put together a nice program if your going that route.
Savage and Reed rematch for the US Title should be money. Wonder what Hennig's next move is though. The ending of the match was kinda a heel moment for Savage but the walking away and spitting was a heel move for Hennig. Still have no clue how thats all goign to play out.
Horsemen vs. Freebirds is quickly reaching legendary feud status, I can see it being as big in this world as the Freebird/Von Erich feud is in real life.

Emphatic return to the ring for Gordy. That's why I believe he is a future World champion. This was also the first chink in the armor of the Horsemen.
Big win for the Harts, biggest of their career to date. Sure, they got the assist from the Road Warriors, but Cornette and company kind of had it coming. Don't think the Harts win the titles, but big stepping stone for them in their careers. And it looks like Starrcade is where thee Road Warriors get their final revenge.
Ah, Borne... pardon the pun, but you are playing with fire. You get too brazen with this interference, and Lawler is going to hurt you.
Now that's just abusing your position as champion, Hogan. Not that the decision was incorrect, but Orndorff is going to have a field day about how the finish got reversed. And rightfully so if you ask me.
Race gets the decision pinfall in a singles match with Hercules, as he should. Now one has to wonder where he's going to find a tag partner. I can't think of any ready-made partners for him (other than Bellomo, of course).
Great match between Savage and Hennig. Savage is in a higher position and probably needed the win, but you added some questions with this match. Before it seemed clear to me that Savage was turning, but now you gave signs that it could be Hennig that does the heel turn.
At first I was going to complain about how long the match rating was, but this match was clearly angle-driven. The Dirty Cowboys have pushed hard for the money from Piper this whole angle, so I don't know why it didn't occur to me that they'd sell out for the Horsemen. The feud never seemed as much personal and it did financial. But now the Cowboys are going to have to answer to Von Erich and the Freebirds.
Surprised Bubba/Steele didn't do worse than * 1/2. Rogers was pretty bad at this point (though he did get better as his career wore on) and Steele was never really a workhorse. The match was about what you'd expect. Good win for Rogers, and some good comedy after.
Hot main event that made Nikita look like a million bucks. No one really expected him to win the title, but he sure put a hurting on Hogan, and lost in kind of a flukey way. The tag match looks to be a big one, and looks like it will set up two big singles matches for Starrcade as well. Hogan vs. Orndorff should draw big money.

You chose a great match to open the show. I'm shocked at the rating, though. Figured these four would put up higher numbers than that. But this was Gordy's night so nothing else really matters so long as he goes over.. and he did.
Such a great win for the Hart Brothers. They can have their time in the spotlight, but it looks like it will only be momentarily. I don't think they give the Dream Team too much trouble. As for the Road Warriors and the Midnight's, the showdown at Starrcade is going to be fun. I anticipate an added stipulation in the next few weeks.
Ironic ending to the Lawler/Beefcake match. Love the angle with Lawler and Bourne.
I really like what you did by reversing the decision to give Larry Z the win. Hogan and Orndorff's build up has been awesome. I have to wonder now if Orndorff will stick his nose in Hogan's match later tonight.
Nice to see Race finally get the revenge he's longed for. Now to find out who Race will choose to challenge the Dream Team. He could pick Lawler and be the Kings of Wrestling but Lawler's busy with Bourne.
Nothing was resolved between Hennig and Savage. If anything, more questions have arisen! Was Savage's apology genuine? Does he know that Hennig actually ESCORTED Elizabeth away from Reed? And will Hennig resort to dirty tactics in their inevitable rematch? Good, good stuff going on here.
Of course the Cowboys would get paid off by the Horsemen! Kerry walked right into a trap. DTA, KVE. DTA. The Freebirds provide some aid in the end but after being double crossed again Von Erich has no reason to trust them either.
Nice little break for the fans before the main event. Steele vs. Rogers is no MOTY candidate but Cornette's antics at the end more than make up for the 4 minutes of biting.
Hogan coming out with the American flag was a nice tough and really sets him up as the real American hero. Also, a like the little touch of having Hogan bite Nikita on the nose. Hogan always did heelish and would get away with it. Koloff sure looked impressive here as well. Looks like he's secured a spot towards the top of the card from now on.
Excellent show! You're on a roll brother!

Loved Survivor Series.
DVE may be the second biggest face in NWF right now, behind only Hogan. Dirty Cowboys tricking him was great.
Savage-Hennig is really interesting. I wonder if Hennig will come back after the eventual full-heel turn by Savage and see "I told you so! Nobody realized it then, except me!"
Lawler-Bourne continues to be strange stuff that I'm curious where it goes.

Greensboro, I feel like it's way more than 8 months since Gordy's injury. Just goes to show that there's a lot of circuits and a lot of shows going around now. The years flew by much quicker when it was just Ryan and 12 shows a year :-) That being said, I like that you gave Gordy the win on his return. Shows he's serious and might be a big singles competitor soon. Hart Brothers as the top contenders make sense since the Dream Team are heels. Also prolongs the Road Warriors vs Midnight Express feud, which is a better money making feud than Dream Team vs Hart Brothers, to be honest. Still digging the Lawler vs Borne feud. I think you are doing everything right so far :-) The Orndorrf-Zbyszko ending was pure brilliance. I thought you had painted yourself in a corner, since both men needed the win. This way was just perfect. It also sets up Orndorrf vs Hogan. Race needed that win. Hercules has been built nicely enough as it is, so it was good to see the veteran get his win. Another really good booker job in the Hennig vs Savage match. The tension has been built nicely. I think this is the first step to Savage treating Elizabeth as dirt. Who will be your George Steele? Oh, wait, you have him. Isn't Miss Elizabeth Tommy Rich's cousin in this universe? The Dirty Cowboys playing dirty.. another good choice which I really didn't see coming. Wonder where the Freebirds were. Fun bathroom break match where Rogers gets the push, but the crowd gets some comic relief with Steele chasing Cornette. Another good writeup for a Hogan match. The stage has been set for Orndorrf vs Hogan at Starrcade. I like it that you're putting a tag match in the house show in Kansas. You need to save that big match. I loved this show. You wrote yourself out of several pickles in surprising but logical ways. I am hereby impressed.

NWF WORLDWIDE Atlanta, GA | October 27, 1985 (Taped October 12, 1985)
Commentators: Gordon Solie and Jesse “The Body” VenturaAnother day, another Worldwide. And what a Worldwide it promised to be. Not only would Butch Reed be defending his US Title against Michael Hayes of the Freebirds, but we had an irate World Champion on our hands! And unlike last week, it was the real World Champion, Hulk Hogan. A noticeable large bandage was taped up across the lower part of Hogan's neck. Hogan came onto the set, grabbed the microphone out of the stunned Sean Mooney's hands, and began his rant. ONLY ROOM FOR ONE CHAMPION:Hulk Hogan was furious at Paul Orndorff and Billy Graham for getting involved in his match last week against Nikita Koloff. He proved that he is the rightful champion by overcoming those odds and still defeating that nasty Russian. Enough is enough. Orndorff may think he has some claim over the World Title since he almost beat him back in Atlanta on September 1st. Almost isn't getting the job done. Hogan said he had taken what Orndorff dished out, and he was still champion. If he wanted to go around pretending to be champion, it was one thing, but once he gets involved in his matches, it was time for him to put an end to it. A challenge was issued for Paul Orndorff to put up or shut up, Hogan's real title against Orndorff's fake title at Starrcade! Whatcha gonna do, PAULA, when all of the Hulkamaniacs, the true World Championship, and Hulk Hogan run wild all over you?! AT THE DESK:Hulk Hogan stormed out of the studio leaving Gordon Solie and Jesse Ventura to discuss what had just occurred. Ventura made sure to note that Hogan's neck wasn't one hundred percent after the Russian Sickles he felt at the hands of Nikita Koloff in Greensboro and the Piledriver that Paul Orndorff dropped him with. Solie said Hogan would be fine, he was more interested in a possible match at Starrcade pitting Orndoroff and Hogan against each other. Ventura told Solie the last time the two men met in the ring, Orndorff defeated Hogan and won the World Title. Solie calmly agreed that while Orndorff did defeat Hogan, it was via countout, and titles cannot change hands via countout. That is why we still have the controversy today as to who the real champion is. Ventura knew that Orndorff was a fighting champion, and so he was sure that he'd take Hogan up on his challenge. He couldn't wait to see one last Piledriver to the injured neck of Hogan. It was sure to put him out of action for good. Match #1 “The Russian Nightmare” Nikita Koloff (w/ “Luscious” Johnny V) vs. Rocky KingNikita Koloff came within seconds of dethroning Hulk Hogan in Greensboro, but like so many before him, he fell just a tad short. Johnny V had to be happy with the showing of his Russian monster, though. If he can stand toe to toe with the Hulkster, he can do so with anyone. Rocky King felt the full brunt of Koloff's frustration. It wasn't even thirty-five seconds into the match before he was nearly decapitated with the Russian Sickle. Nikita Koloff pinned Rocky King with the Russian Sickle in 0:00:31. Rating: -1/4*After the match, as referee Randy Anderson was scraping King off the mat, Johnny V grabbed the microphone. Johnny V said he greatly looked forward to next week. Next week it will be Koloff teaming with Paul Orndorff to face Hulk Hogan and Larry Zbyszko in Kansas City, Missouri. He let the crowd know that whatever was left of Hogan from his match with Nikita in Greensboro would be taken care of next week. This was a Russian Nightmare that you weren't going to wake up from, Hulk Hogan! AT THE DESK:Solie and Ventura contemplated the upcoming tag team match between the Cruncher, Hulkster, Nikita, and Orndorff. Ventura could tell that Hogan was injured after Greensboro, and he didn't see any chance he was leaving the ring in KC on his own two feet. Solie thought he was underestimating what Larry Zbyszko brings to the table. After what happened in Greensboro, with Paul Orndorff blatantly cheating to try and defeat the Cruncher, Zbyszko would be amped up to get his hands on Mr. Wonderful. BACKSTAGE W/ MR. WONDERUL AND THE SUPERSTAR:This interview was recorded directly after the show in Greensboro. Paul Orndorff had his “World Title” around his waist as he and Graham stormed down a hallway. Sean Mooney caught up with them and asked them directly for their reasoning behind interfering in Hulk Hogan's match. Orndorff said the match should have never even happened as he was the real World Champion. Hogan was a fraud. As to his loss to Larry Zbyszko earlier in the evening, Orndorff proved he was the better man by pinning Zbyszko in the middle of the ring. All of the shenanigans after the match was a blatant attempt by Hogan, Zbyszko, and the referee to shame him for his claim to the World Title. It didn't even matter since titles cannot change hands via disqualification, and so he was still the REAL WORLD CHAMPION! Orndorff and Graham shoved past Mooney and kept on their way while the interviewer tried to follow after. Match #2 “The Raging Bull” Manny Fernandez vs. Tommy LaneManny Fernandez came to the ring with the chicken suit in hand. He plans on making Keith Hart wear that ridiculous costume at Starrcade if he can defeat him. He has a good chance of doing just that if he performs like he did today. The Flying Burrito finished the match off after he properly bullied Tommy Lane for nearly three minutes. After the match, Fernandez took the chicken suit's head and put it on Tommy Lane. Fernandez pointed at Lane and told the viewing audience that here was a chicken! The fans at ringside thought differently as they chanted “Chicken!” at the Raging Bull. We learned during commentary that Fernandez plans on visiting a chicken farm during the week. We will see clips of this next week here on Worldwide. Manny Fernandez pinned Tommy Lane with the Flying Burrito in 0:02:47. Rating: DUDTHE ROAD WARRIORS HAVE A PLAN:A backstage interview was shown with Hawk, Animal, and Paul Ellering. Ellering did most of the talking as he expressed how sick and tired he was of the Midnight Express and their nerdy manager, Jim Cornette. Bobby Eaton and Dennis Condrey were in for a world of pain when the Road Warriors finally got their hands on them. He knew the end result of the match would be Condrey and Eaton turning tail and running from the ring. That's why he had been in negotiations with the Championship Committee. No, he hadn't convinced them to make their match a cage match at Starrcade. The cold hard steel was too good for the Express. To prevent them from running he had another idea – A SCAFFOLD MATCH! Hawk and Animal were licking their chops at the idea. Ellering explained all four men would be up on a scaffold high above the ring. The only way to win the match would be to throw their opponents off. If Condrey and Eaton wanted to run so be it. But they wouldn't run for long before they were flying! Hawk let out a “Ooh! What a rush!” to end the promo. AT THE DESK:Jesse Ventura was aghast at the match the Road Warriors had talked the Championship Committee into. A person could be permanently injured in a match of that sort. Gordon Solie agreed it was an unorthodox match, but it was certainly going to guarantee that neither Dennis Condrey or Bobby Eaton were able to escape from the clutches of the Road Warriors. Plus, there was the added benefit of keeping Jim Cornette and Big Bubba Rogers from interfering. Ventura knew that with Cornette's intelligence the Express would find a way to win this match. And falling from a scaffold that high above the ring could lead to Hawk and Animal being put on the shelf for a long time. Solie reminded Ventura that the Express had cost the Road Warriors the Tag Team Titles twice now, and it was about time for them to get their retribution. Match #3 Harley Race vs. Phil Hickerson
Harley Race is back on track and that means bad news for the rest of the NWF. He finally handled his business with Hercules Hernandez last week in Greensboro, and now is guaranteed a shot at the Tag Team Titles in the near future. Word has it that Race will debut his new team next week in Kansas City against the Midnight Express. Who his partner will be is still anyone's guess, but if Race looks like he does on Worldwide, they are serious threats to the Dream Team's titles. Harley Race pinned Phil Hickerson with the Piledriver in 0:01:50. Rating: 1/2*
AT THE DESK:Gordon Solie and Jesse Ventura talked about the upcoming show in Kansas City. The full lineup is starting to come together with Harley Race and his new partner squaring off against the Midnight Express, but several other matches have been added. Matt Borne has signed Jerry Lawler up to face George “The Animal” Steele. Solie said rumor has it that Lawler is not happy that he is being forced into this match, but Matt Borne has a mortgage payment that is already post-due. And thanks to what happened last week in Greensboro, Kerry Von Erich has demanded a match against the Dirty Cowboys. He'll get his wish as a six-man tag will occur with Kerry teaming with Iceman King Parsons and Buddy Roberts. They'll do battle with the Cowboys and Horseman Tommy Rich. Not only that, but Curt Henning will face Manny Fernandez. It is a jam packed event that is sure to be sold out soon so pick up your tickets now! Match #4 United States Title Match “Hacksaw” Butch Reed (c) vs. Michael “P.S.” HayesThe US Title is rarely defended on Worldwide so we had a special treat on our hands as Butch Reed defended against Michael Hayes. Reed knows he is about to have his hands full with Randy Savage at Starrcade, the man he defeated for the strap back in August, but if he overlooked Hayes he wouldn't make it to NWF's first PPV as champion. While Hayes has had his hands full with the Four Horsemen recently, a chance to win the prestigious US Title was not an opportunity he was going to let slip by. Hayes came out strong against Reed causing Reed to have to bail several times. He jaw jacked with the fans several times and was clearly stalling to get his head into the match. This led to Hayes chasing after Reed on the outside. Big mistake as that is exactly the type of match Reed lives for. Reed took over control on the outside, slamming Hayes into the guardrail, ringpost, table, and basically anything that was available. Hayes has a lot of fight in him and was somehow able to avoid the pinfall as the match went back into the ring. Hayes would regroup long enough to have a stretch of close pinfall attempts, but it looked like it took him too long to get back on the offensive. Gary Michael Cappetta announced that there was only one minute left in the bout which caused Hayes to throw it into full gear. He avoided a charge in the corner by Reed as the seconds ticked on. He caught him with a high crossbody off the middle turnbuckle, but right when the referee's hand hit the mat for the count of two the bell rung. The official decision was a time limit draw. Butch Reed and Michael Hayes battled to a draw in 0:15:00. Rating: ** 1/2 (Butch Reed retained the NWF US Title.)Reed looked unhappy as he grabbed his US Title and left the ring area. Who knows if he would have kicked out of that move? Hayes was also frustrated as he argued with the referee about the decision. He couldn't argue for long, however, as Ric Flair and Greg Valentine stepped into the aisle with Woman beside them. They walked to ringside where Flair was able to wrestle the microphone out of Cappetta's grasp. Flair wanted to to applaud Hayes for doing what he does best, fail. He was a failure in all aspects of his wrestling career. He failed in tag teams. The champions are now the Dream Team. He failed in his attempt at revenge for Terry Gordy's injury. Hulk Hogan ripped him to shreds. He even failed in his attempt to lead the Freebirds. Everyone knows that the real leader is Terry Gordy. And now he failed in winning the US Title. He couldn't even protect Kerry Von Erich. Michael Hayes, never one short for words, shouted he wouldn't fail in kicking Ric Flair's butt all over this arena! Hayes told Flair he was nothing without his backup and he'd prove it if Flair only had the guts to step into the ring with him. Flair said he'd get his wish in Kansas City, Missouri! AT THE DESK:Word has come down to Gordon Solie that Ric Flair will indeed meet Michael Hayes in singles action in Kansas City. But that isn't the only match involving the Freebirds and the Horsemen. The two enforcers of the groups, Terry Gordy and Greg Valentine, will also step foot into the ring with one another. Jesse Ventura didn't even want to think about what carnage those two men would bring to the ring in a singles match. The card for Kansas City is shaping up nicely and is only one week away! After that we are on the home stretch for NWF's first PPV, Starrcade, a show that is certainly one you do not want to miss! Solie let everyone know that next week on Worldwide we will hear from Kerry Von Erich, Randy Savage, and also get Paul Orndorff's answer in regards to Hulk Hogan's challenge for Starrcade. All that and much more so be sure to tune in! November 3, 1985 – Kansas City, MO Hulk Hogan/Larry Zbyszko vs. Paul Orndorff/Nikita Koloff TAG TEAM TITLES – The Dream Team (c) vs. The Hart Brothers Ric Flair vs. Michael Hayes Terry Gordy vs. Greg Valentine Harley Race/ vs. The Midnight Express Kerry Von Erich/Iceman King Parsons/Buddy Roberts vs. Dirty Cowboys/Tommy Rich Curt Hennig vs. Manny Fernandez Jerry Lawler vs. George Steele

I understand the scaffold match is a historical thing, but frankly I would have preferred a regular cage match (i.e. something that wouldn't suck).

Just couldn't do it. Had to have the scaffold match pop up at some point, and I was lucky enough to have it fit the way I'd want to payoff this feud. The cage match would definitely give me a better match, but decided to sacrifice it for history's sake.

Strong promo from Hogan to start. It was a bit more aggressive than normal, which will really help sell tickets for Starrcade. That's your money match.
Koloff continues to look strong. He may not be ready for the World Title now, but I can definitely see him doing so in the future.
Ha. I love Orndorff/Graham interviews.
Oh sweet lord do I love the chicken angle. Fernandez has been great in it, and dammit if the chicken farm skit isn't going to rule. Wrestlecrap all the way, but entertaining as all hell.
I am fully behind the scaffold match. Sure, in the year 2013, looking back at scaffold matches, they were terrible. But they had a lot of heat, and the nod to history is appropriate here. We going to get Cornette blowing his knee out?
Race looking good. As much as he has bugged me, I like him in this role. He's still prominent on the show, but nowhere near the World Title. I can see him sneaking out a tag title reign before all is said and done though, depending on his partner, anyway.
Lot of filler matches on the KC show, but look to be good matches. Gordy vs. Valentine should be great.
Wow. Singles push coming up for Hayes? Reed has been damn near unstoppable, or for all intents and purposes, Hayes had the US Title won. I always liked when a regular tag guy snuck in and got a short singles title reign. I could see Hayes holding the US Title, even if it is shortly. And his match with Flair should be as entertaining as it gets.

Yes! It's finally happening, Hogan vs Paula for the title at Starrcade!
The Fernandez' chicken thing is so goofy it's funny. Too bad for Fernandez that the chicken angle is the most interesting thing that's happened to him so far in this universe.
I can't remember the scaffold matches being any good. Will you be using the FCA Cubed match plugin?
The Horsemen are really becoming a huge group if they are using the Cowboys as mercenaries. Don't think the alliance will be lasting long though. Not that the Cowboys will be turned face, but I think they will leave pretty soon.
Ric Flair's word really hit home. Hayes probably deserves a big win at some point, but I don't think Flair's the guy to put him over.
Kansas looking good!

Hogan's promos are always loud and energetic but we don't often see the World Champion furious like this. Hogan issued the challenge but Orndorff is in the driver's seat.
Koloff won't be slowed by his loss to Hogan. It shouldn't be long before he's earned his way into title contention.
The tag match you're building to in KC is HUGE. I'd be shocked if Hogan took the fall even with his injury. But it may happen to give Orndorff more of a reason to claim he's the rightful Champion.
I cannot wait for the chicken farm vignettes!
SKYWALKERS has made this Universe!! Yes! It's inevitable that Cornette takes the plunge, Big Bubba doesn't catch him, and Cornette blows his knees out!
Race and his new partner will be heavily tested against the Midnight Express in their first match.
Excellent booking here in the night's main event. I was a bit taken by the time limit draw since Hayes isn't on Reed's level. But because of what happened after the match, having Hayes look strong makes so much sense.
As solid as the Kansas City card is looking it's the first time in a long time that your house show hasn't felt like SUPER CARD. It will be a hell of a night, though, and that main event tag match is serious business.

Thanks for the feedback, guys. Yeah, KC has kind of the "IYH" feel before a big PPV. Can't give away too much in KC if I'm going to try and build Starrcade.

NWF WORLDWIDE Atlanta, GA | November 3, 1985 (Taped November 2, 1985)
Commentators: Gordon Solie and Jesse “The Body” VenturaWorldwide is back! We are only a few hours away from a huge show in Kansas City, Missouri, but that didn't stop the NWF from putting forth an amazing show here on Sunday morning. In our main event Curt Hennig will do battle with “Superstar” Billy Graham. Hennig is scheduled to face Manny Fernandez later on tonight, so this is a huge gamble on his part. Taking on someone with the expertise of Graham is never easy. Also “The Blackbird” Iceman King Parsons faces “Dirty” Dick Slater in a small preview of tonight's six man tag. We will hear from Paul Orndorff about Hulk Hogan's challenge for Starrcade, Kerry Von Erich will speak for the first time about the villainous actions of the Dirty Cowboys when they handed him over to the Four Horsemen, and much more! Gordon Solie and Jesse Ventura discussed this, also throwing in that Manny Fernandez would be visiting a chicken farm later on in the show, before throwing it to Gary Michael Cappetta for our first match. Match #1 Kerry Von Erich vs. Gene Ligon
This was the first time we'd seen Kerry Von Erich since the Dirty Cowboys turned on him and left him for dead in the hands of the Four Horsemen. The crowd was completely behind Kerry, but he was fired up all on his own. We saw an intensity out of him that he doesn't often show. Several times he shook the top rope as he tried to release his anger and frustration. The Discus Punch sent Gene Ligon into a twisting motion that led to him landing in a heap on the mat. Kerry picked up this easy win, but he had something to say after the match. Kerry Von Erich pinned Gene Ligon with the Discus Punch in 0:03:48. Rating: 1/2*After acquiring the house mic, Kerry quoted the famous “fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.” saying. He should have known better than to trust a couple of men that call themselves the Dirty Cowboys. It was only five years ago that Bob Orton Jr. turned his back on his brothers, and he should have learned from their mistake. But now that he knows firsthand what Orton and Slater are all about, he is going to get his revenge. The Dirty Cowboys may have left him for dead, but he had some angels watching over him. He thanked the Freebirds for being there, and he looked forward to teaming with Iceman King Parsons and Buddy Roberts to deal a significant blow to the Cowboys and Tommy Rich later on tonight. You can't take away a Von Erich's pride and dignity, but that's exactly what the Cowboys tried to do in Greensboro. But he still stands tall. And when it is all said and done, it will be the Cowboys that are laid out on the mat. CHICKEN FARM:A video clip was shown of Manny Fernandez standing in front of a wooden fence. Cows could be seen grazing in the background. Fernandez said he was here on this chicken farm to prove one thing and that he was no chicken! He shook the hand of a cowboy that introduced himself as Hillbilly Jim, the owner of this ranch. Hillbilly Jim thanked Fernandez for coming to take a look at his chicken ranch, one of the finest in the county. Fernandez said he didn't care one lick for his chicken farm because he had seen the magnificent creatures in the pasture behind him. He especially liked the big brown one near the gate. He said that it reminded him of himself. A raging bull. That's the type of creature he named himself after, not some damned chicken. Hillbilly Jim, almost apologetically, let Fernandez know that it was no bull. In fact, that was a heifer waiting to be bred. Fernandez stuttered and stammered for a few seconds before flapping his arms in disgust and telling Jim to never embarrass him like that ever again. Fernandez stormed out of view as Jim guffawed at the Raging Bull's mistake. AT THE DESK:Jesse Ventura tried to cover for Manny Fernandez by saying it was a common mistake. Gordon Solie, uncharacteristically, continued to chuckle as Ventura scolded him. We will see further installments of Manny Fernandez' visit to the chicken farm in the next few weeks. Solie tried to gather himself so he could send it back to the ring. Match #2 “Dirty” Dick Slater vs. Iceman King ParsonsWe are so used to seeing these two men involved in massive brawls with numerous other wrestlers that it was slightly odd when both men came to the ring by themselves. This was a standard one-on-one match and neither man had a second. It was a nice change of pace, and one that might have favored Iceman King Parsons. Parsons didn't have to constantly look over his shoulder and was able to keep his mind on the match at hand. It isn't like Dick Slater needs those distractions to get in a few cheap shots though. He is more than capable of doing that on his own. And after absorbing the early offense of Parsons, he was able to take over control of the match by raking the eyes of Parsons. Slater took pleasure in dishing out right hands to soften up Parsons, but it would be Parsons coming from out of nowhere with his new high impact move, the Butt Bump, to put this match in his win column. Iceman King Parsons pinned Dick Slater with the Butt Bump in 0:07:58. Rating: * ¾After the match, Dick Slater took his cowboy boot off and tried to swing wildly at the head of Parsons. Luckily for the Blackbird, he saw it coming and quickly got out of the ring. Match #3 Ole Anderson (w/ JJ Dillon) vs. Phil HickersonAn insert promo aired during this match in which Ole Anderson warned Kerry Von Erich to not even show up for his match in Kansas City. He knew what the Dirty Cowboys and Tommy Rich had planned for him, and he wouldn't like it one bit. Anderson is constantly in a bad mood, and we saw some of that in this match. Phil Hickerson tried to get an early advantage by dropkicking him before the bell. Hickerson got in a few seconds of offense, but Anderson rung his bell with a well placed slap to the ear. After that it was several minutes of painful stretching at the hands of the man from Minnesota. The Spinebuster Slam ended the beating. Ole Anderson pinned Phil Hickerson with the Spinebuster Slam in 0:03:11. Rating: -1/2*After the match, we saw what kind of man JJ Dillon is. Hickerson tried to crawl up Dillon's leg to get back to his feet, but Dillon kicked him away. He planted a swift kick to the ribs to put Hickerson back down on the mat. Ole dropped a knee right across the back of Hickerson's neck and berated the poor guy for putting his hands on his manager. AT THE DESK:Gordon Solie expressed his disgust for Ole Anderson's actions after the match. Jesse Ventura reminded Solie that once you step into the ring all bets are off. You have to be able to handle yourself or you are in the wrong business. Ole Anderson was simply teaching that lesson to the young man. Talk moved to the challenge Hulk Hogan issued last week for Starrcade. Hogan wants Orndorff back in the ring in the worst way, and he is willing to put up his World Title to sweeten the deal. But Orndorff will also have to put his own version of the World Title. Ventura was calling it a unification, but Solie wouldn't go that far. Paul Orndorff stepped into the studio, sans Billy Graham, to talk about the challenge. MR. WONDERFUL GIVES HIS ANSWER:As Paul Orndorff adjusted his “World Title” around his waist, he told Sean Mooney that, yes, he heard Hulk Hogan's challenge. And he was more than willing to accept. After what happened in Atlanta at the beginning of September, he knew he had Hogan's number. And while he already claimed ownership of the World Title, he wanted nothing more than to finish off Hogan's claim to the belt. Orndorff kept hearing how brave Hulk Hogan was to challenge Orndorff with his injured neck, but he didn't think it was bravery. It was pure and utter stupidity. Hogan was going to get his neck broken, and Mr. Wonderful would be the one to do the breaking. Orndorff wanted to make one thing clear, when he had both title belts in his possession, there would be no doubt as to who the real World Champion was this whole time. Tonight starts Hogan's downward spiral. Tonight, Nikita Koloff and Paul Orndorff will soften Hogan up just a bit more. But the end of Hulkamania will come at Starrcade when Paul Orndorff drills him into the mat with the Piledriver, pins him, and puts him on the shelf for good. Orndorff pulled out a hand mirror for Mooney to hold up. With Graham preparing for his match later on in the show, Mooney got the honor of holding the mirror up at certain angles so Orndorff could flex his large biceps and see his own reflection. Orndorff reminded Hogan that this was what he had to look forward to. Match #4 Hawk (w/ Paul Ellering) vs. Vernon DeatonThe Road Warriors have to be happy they finally are going to get their hands on the Midnight Express in a match where no one can possibly interfere. We've learned some more details about the match being billed as the Night of the Skywalkers, the scaffold will be twenty-five feet in the air. Ladders on each side will be there to get both teams up. The winning team will be the ones who can toss the opposing tag team off the scaffold and onto the ring below. This is a match that will leave neither team the same. The odds of injury are so high that the Championship Committee has signed on several more medical crew to be at ringside. Hawk showed no signs of concern for the upcoming match as he handled his opponent easily here on Worldwide. Paul Ellering made several comments to the camera about how he wished he could get that pimpled faced Jim Cornette up on that scaffold so he could toss him off as well. Hawk won this match with his Flying Clothesline. Hawk pinned Vernon Deaton with the Flying Clothesline in 0:02:55. Rating: 3/4*
JIM CORNETTE THROWS A FIT:Jim Cornette stormed onto the interview stage with Big Bubba Rogers, Dennis Condrey, and Bobby Eaton closely behind. When questioned by Sean Mooney about his thoughts on the upcoming scaffold match, Cornette responded that he could not believe the gall of the Championship Committee to order such a match. Is this the kind of disrespect he gets after bringing the best tag team in the world to the NWF? Mama Cornette is not happy! The fact that all four men will be dangling twenty-five feet above the ring is complete insanity. He will hold the NWF responsible if any injury comes to “Beautiful” Bobby or “Loverboy” Dennis. Eaton and Condrey get Cornette to calm down and slow his rant. Cornette reminds himself that the Midnight Express have always found a way to defeat the Road Warriors. This time will be no different. Hawk and Animal are going to be sent crashing to the mat and straight to the hospital. Match #5 “Superstar” Billy Graham vs. Curt Hennig
Looking at youngster Curt Hennig, you can see he is well on his way to stardom. He's improved by leaps and bounds as the year has progressed. At the beginning of the year you wouldn't have given him much of a shot against Billy Graham, but after competitive matches against both Randy Savage and Butch Reed the opinions on him have drastically changed. Graham is getting up there in age, and while his main focus has been managing Paul Orndorff, he still competes on occasion to keep himself fresh. Graham made some jokes about Hennig's stature, flexing his muscles, and telling Hennig he had no chance against a muscular man like himself. Graham turned his back on Hennig to show the crowd his biceps, and Hennig took the opportunity to nail him between the shoulderblades with a dropkick. Graham stumbled through the ropes and hit the ringside floor. Graham, frustrated, slammed his hands on the ring apron and got back in the ring. Graham's anger helped him in the opening minutes as he continually pushed Hennig around the ring and used chops and uppercuts to slow down the up-and-comer. Hennig would use his speed later on in the match to confuse the Superstar and keep him guessing. Graham thought he had found an answer when he caught Hennig going to the top rope. Graham slammed him off with a thud, but instead of going for the cover he boasted to the crowd that he had the match in hand. A whip into the ropes saw Graham put his head down too early, and Hennig halted his momentum. A swinging neckbreaker dropped Graham to the mat, and a quick three seconds later Hennig escaped with a huge victory. Curt Hennig pinned Billy Graham after a swinging neckbreaker in 0:07:37. Rating: *** ¼It took Graham a few seconds to realize what had happened, but once he was told he stomped at the canvas in frustration. Hennig had his hand raised with the crowd solidly behind him. A big win for Curt Hennig can only provide him with momentum going into tonight's match with Manny Fernandez. AT THE DESK:Jesse Ventura reluctantly admitted to being impressed by Curt Hennig's performance. Gordon Solie praised Hennig's fortitude for hanging in there with the heavy hitting Billy Graham and finding a way to upset the former NWF World Champion. A man that has had trouble recently with Curt Hennig, Randy Savage, entered the studio to join Sean Mooney on the interview stage. Miss Elizabeth stepped onto the stage as well looking as extravagant as ever. MACHO MAN TURNS HIS SIGHTS ON THE GOLD:Sean Mooney asked Randy Savage about his recent match against Curt Hennig in Greensboro. Savage admitted that Hennig gave him a much tougher match than he expected, and he wanted to applaud him for his efforts. Not any man can stand toe to toe with the Macho Man, but Hennig was able to do just that. He also thanked him for his efforts in protecting Elizabeth from Butch Reed. Elizabeth let him know after the match what happened, and he had earned his gratitude. Mooney asked Savage about the cheap shot that allowed Savage to defeat Hennig, but Savage dodged the question by saying in the heat of the moment things can happen. All he knew was that in the end the better man had won. Oooh yeah! That man was the Macho Man. Now, Savage was ready to get his hands on Reed and regain his US Title. Back when he first won the title earlier this year, he promised he was going to use that title to catapult himself to the World Title. He was traveling to the stars, to the brightest star, and that was the World Heavyweight Title. But to get to that bright star, you have to make a pit stop at a planet nearby, the US Title. But have no fear, Macho Madness had filled up the car with gas, ooh yeah, and he was going to be driving through space, Miss Elizabeth riding shotgun, all the way to the US Title. Greatness was in the Macho Man's future, and that future goes right through Hacksaw at Starrcade! Dig it! AT THE DESK:Jesse Ventura thought Randy Savage had another thing coming if he thought he was going to get past “Hacksaw” Butch Reed. Gordon Solie had never quite seen Randy Savage so intense. I'm starting to think Kerry Von Erich is going to be a guy who gets turned on all the time in his career. I don't want to believe it, but really, I wouldn't be shocked at this point if the Freebirds turn on him too. Haha. These chicken farm segments are going to be bad, tremendously fantastic WrestleCrap. And a fun way to introduce Hillybilly Jim, who FINALLY makes his Universe debut. Parsons looks good in getting a win over Slater. The jury is still out on how far he is going to go in this Universe. He's a useful hand now, but I don't know what long term appeal he has. I'm a fan though. Ole with a dominant win. The 6-man for KC is intriguing. Let's hope Kerry doesn't get turned on again. Not at all surprised Orndorff accepts the challenge. You've been building to that match all year, and it should deliver. Cornette is saying all the right things, and the Midnight Express have had the Road Warriors' number. But they're getting thrown off the scaffolding. Billy Graham is well past his prime, but getting a win over the former World champ is just another step in Hennig's development. He's so close to really breaking through. I'm guessing he'll be the one to get the US Title off Reed. Good interview by Savage to end the show. It was very apologetic and an over the top face interview, which means bad news for Hennig soon.

Randy is going to turn very soon, which bodes well for this universe's version of the Savage/Miss Elizabeth/George Steele storyline.

Match #1 Ole Anderson (w/ JJ Dillon) vs. Salvatore Bellomo
We are live here in Kansas City, Missouri! The show was a near sellout as NWF returned to its old home territory in the Midwest. Salvatore Bellomo is known for his zany antics, but we didn't get to see any of those tonight. The crowd was still piling in so a lot of them missed Bellomo asking for advice when Ole Anderson asked for a handshake to begin the match. He could have used their help because he finally shook the hand of Ole's only to be met with a kick to the midsection. Anderson pounded away at him for the rest of the match with Bellomo trying to find a breather here and there. He almost was able to catch Ole off guard with the Flying Headscissors that he likes to use, but Anderson pushed him off. Bellomo, never to be discouraged, went on a hot streak with several dropkicks that kept knocking Ole down. Anderson had enough of that pretty quickly as when Bellomo came close he drilled him with a low blow. Bellomo fell to the mat in pain, and Ole got an easy three count. He should have been disqualified for the move, but referee Dave Hebner never saw it.
Ole Anderson pinned Salvatore Bellomo after a low blow in 0:04:49. Rating: * ½
After the match, JJ Dillon raised Ole's hand in victory to the jeers from the crowd. JJ Dillon got on the house microphone and promised that this was only the beginning of a terrific night for the Four Horsemen.
HARLEY RACE REVEALS HIS NEW PARTNER:
After the Midnight Express, Jim Cornette, and Big Bubba Rogers entered the ring, Harley Race came halfway down the aisle. He was stopped by Sean Mooney who asked him to introduce his new partner. Race said he was sick and tired of trying to mentor the young guys. He gives and all they do is take. So that's why he found someone that can handle his own. Someone that doesn't need a teacher. Race's new partner is “Dirty” Dick Murdoch! Murdoch joined Race in the aisle and told Mooney that after they handled the Midnight Express they were using the title shot Race earned to face the Dream Team at Starrcade! The Dream Team was in for a world of hurt because they were about to run straight into the Nightmare Squad.
Back in the ring, Cornette was none too thrilled with this new development, but he hastily offered some words of encouragement to Dennis Condrey and Bobby Eaton before leaving the ring.
Match #2 The Midnight Express (w/ Jim Cornette/Big Bubba Rogers) vs. The Nightmare Squad
Who would have thought we'd see Dick Murdoch back in a NWF ring? The last time he was here was in late 1979, but since then he has traveled the globe and won titles and been involved in blood feuds everywhere he has gone. Harley Race's decision to partner with him has to be considered a smart one since Murdoch is known for his tag team expertise. These two ring veterans were still going to have their hands full with the Midnight Express, a team that is considered to be one of the best at this time. Race and Murdoch must have been sparring in their free time because they were in sync from the minute the bell rang. Cornette was trying to get Condrey and Eaton back on track for most of the match, but they couldn't find an answer to Murdoch's brawling or Race's technical skills. Cornette finally decided to intervene by tripping Race as he came off the ropes. This allowed the Express an extended period of offense on Race. Murdoch was pacing on the ring apron, begging for a tag, but Race was starting to fall victim to the quick tags of Condrey and Eaton. Just when they were preparing him for the Rocket Launcher, out came the ROAD WARRIORS! Hawk and Animal were only standing in the aisle, but Cornette was throwing a fit at ringside. He ordered Big Bubba to stand in front of him and warned Condrey and Eaton. This distraction led to Eaton taking far too long before flying off with his Rocket Launcher. Race was playing opossum by that point, and was able to easily roll out of the way. Race made the hot tag to Murdoch, who came in a house of fire. Between keeping one eye on the Road Warriors and the other one their opponents, it was only a matter of time before they made a mistake. Murdoch would capitalize on that mistake by catching Condrey with the Gourdbuster and getting an impressive win in the Nightmare Squad's debut.
The Nightmare Squad (Harley Race and Dick Murdoch) defeated The Midnight Express (Bobby Eaton and Dennis Condrey) when Murdoch pinned Condrey with the Gourdbuster in 0:09:45. Rating: ** ¼
After the match, Murdoch and Race weren't going to stick around for any shenanigans. They got what they came here for: a win. Hawk and Animal aren't the type to show up simply for a distraction however. They sprinted down the aisle and bulldozed over Big Bubba. Rogers tried to fight them off, but a two-on-one against the Road Warriors is too much for any man. Cornette hightailed it into the ring to avoid the action on the outside. Once Hawk and Animal had tossed Rogers over the guardrail and into the first row, however, it was time for the Express and Cornette to fight or flight. It doesn't take a genius to predict what their decision was. Cornette, Condrey, and Eaton quickly left the ring as Hawk and Animal stepped through the ropes. The Midnight Express and Cornette jumped over the guardrail and fled through the crowd. The Road Warriors were not to be deterred. Hawk went back to the outside, grabbed Big Bubba, and tossed him back into the ring. Animal hoisted him up on his shoulder and Hawk drilled him with the Doomsday Device! Cornette might need to offer Big Bubba a bonus after leaving him out there for that. One thing is for certain, the Midnight Express will not be able to run away from the Road Warriors come Starrcade. They are going to be twenty-five feet in the air with only one way to escape. Down.
Match #3 Greg “The Hammer” Valentine (w/ JJ Dillon) vs. Terry “Bamm Bamm” Gordy
Rumor has it that Ric Flair does not want to step into the ring with Terry Gordy. That's why Greg Valentine was given the assignment to square off with Bamm Bamm here in Kansas City. So, while Flair will face Michael Hayes later on tonight, the Hammer was put into this match to deal with Bamm Bamm. Gordy is in the process of making his comeback from a torn meniscus he suffered in a match with Hulk Hogan, and this match would go a long way in determining if he was one hundred percent healthy. Valentine's plan was also to see if Gordy was healthy. To do that, he went right after Gordy's left leg. Gordy absorbed a great deal of damage throughout this match as Valentine tried to soften him up for the Figure-Four Leglock. Gordy was limping for most of the match as he tried to keep Valentine away from his leg. But what has made Gordy one of the top young talents in the business is his brute strength and ability to mount a fiery comeback. He avoided a charge into the corner as Valentine went for a jumping knee. Valentine rammed his knee into the turnbuckles. From that point on Gordy blitzed through Valentine with a couple of lariats and a huge powerslam. Gordy dropped Valentine with his devastating Power Bomb. Gordy covered Valentine as JJ Dillon tried to get into the ring. He wouldn't make it in time, though, as Gordy picked up possibly the biggest pinfall of his career.
Terry Gordy pinned Greg Valentine with the Power Bomb in 0:15:57. Rating: ** ¾
After the match, Gordy caught Dillon by the tie and was threatening to deck him. The crowd was roaring their approval, but Valentine had recovered enough to drill Gordy in the kidneys with a knee. Valentine grabbed Dillon and got out of there as Gordy wanted the fight to continue.
Match #4 Jerry “The King” Lawler (w/ “Maniac” Matt Borne) vs. George “The Animal” Steele
When Jerry Lawler found out what happened earlier this month in Greensboro he was obviously upset. Matt Borne helped Lawler defeat Brutus Beefcake, but Lawler is not one to accept help in his matches. At least not anymore. Borne is obviously interested in Lawler's career since his earnings are going towards paying his bills while he is injured, but Lawler will not stand for Borne getting involved in his matches. Borne signed Lawler up for this match, another point of contention for the two men, and so Lawler was forced into action against another fan favorite. The match was was slow paced as Lawler was reluctant to show a vicious side against Steele. Steele kept going for different variations of armbars on Lawler, but Lawler would wrestle his way out. The frustration in Matt Borne grew to the point where he jumped up and clocked Steele from behind while referee Randy Anderson was distracted. Lawler was furious as he left the ring to berate Borne. You could overhear Lawler reading Borne the riot act about interfering in one of his matches. Anderson reached the count of ten without Lawler even noticing he was being counted out.
George Steele defeated Jerry Lawler via countout in 0:07:46. Rating: DUD
After the decision was announced, both Lawler and Borne were unhappy with the other. Lawler stormed away from ringside while Borne realized his payday was leaving unhappy. He quickly followed after while Steele chased Randy Anderson around the ring. Anderson got out of the ring in a hurry while Steele took a chomp out of a turnbuckle.
A TURN OF THE HEAD:
Steele was finally convinced by several officials to leave the ring. As he walked back up the aisle, he crossed paths with “Macho Man” Randy Savage pulling Miss Elizabeth to the ring. Steele turned his head and watched. He tried to follow after them, but he was pushed towards the back by the members of the NWF crew.
MACHO MADNESS:
With Miss Elizabeth standing in the corner, Randy Savage said he couldn't wait for Starrcade to regain his United States Title. He called out Butch Reed to come to the ring so they could handle their business right then and there! Reed came to the ring, but told Savage he was a fool. He already had a US Title defense scheduled for tonight, and he wasn't going to be poked and prodded into a second one. Savage could wait his turn for the beating of a lifetime. Savage wasn't going to take 'no' for an answer as he told Reed that he may act like a tough guy, but he had absolutely no guts. The two men continued to exchange heated words and Miss Elizabeth had seen enough. She tried to pull Savage away, but in the chaos she was shoved to the mat. It was unclear if it was Reed or Savage that had pushed her, but she sat on the canvas, stunned. Savage went to check on her, and Reed saw this as an opportune moment to drill him from behind. Reed nailed him with a lariat before lifting him up into a press slam. Reed proceeded to take him over to the ropes and hurl him from the ring and onto the ringside floor! Savage landed in a heap and was obviously hurting. Reed turned to Elizabeth as she slowly tried to scoot her way away from him. Reed had a smile on his face as he reached down to grab Elizabeth by her hair when CURT HENNIG slid into the ring! And right behind him were the MOUNTAINEERS! Hennig grabbed Elizabeth and got her out of the ring while Crusher Blackwell and Barry Darsow exchanged fisticuffs with Butch Reed. Referee Dave Hebner was right behind as he ordered Barry Darsow from the ring. Our scheduled US Title defense was up next as Hebner tried to restore order.
Match #5 United States Title Match “Hacksaw” Butch Reed (c) vs. Crusher Blackwell (w/ Barry Darsow)
While most eyes were on Curt Hennig escorting Miss Elizabeth from ringside, Randy Savage being helped by Barry Darsow, Crusher Blackwell and Butch Reed sent powerful blows towards one another. A man with the strength of Reed and the size of Blackwell are going to cause some massive damage when they are clubbing you in the head and chest. Blackwell almost found a way to defeat Reed when he hit an avalanche in the corner. Reed collapsed to the mat as Blackwell bounced off the ropes and went for a big splash. Reed rolled out of the way, however, and Blackwell knocked the wind out of himself. He wrestled his way back to his feet only to walk right into a huge bodyslam from Reed! The ring shook with the impact. Reed made the cover and Blackwell was too stunned to kickout.
Butch Reed pinned Crusher Blackwell after a bodyslam in 0:04:24. Rating: 1/2* (Butch Reed retained the NWF US Title.)
Reed went to gather his US Title, but Randy Savage had fully recovered by this time. Savage caught Reed in the ring with a tackle and proceeded to rain down fists on his head. Reed tried to cover up, but Savage was relentless. Dave Hebner had to grab him by the hair and pull him off which allowed Reed to bid a hasty retreat. Reed took his US Title and stumbled to the back as Savage steamed inside the ring.
Match #6 Kerry Von Erich, Iceman King Parsons, and Buddy Roberts vs. Dirty Cowboys and “Wildfire” Tommy Rich (w/ JJ Dillon)
The fact that the Dirty Cowboys used David Von Erich's name to convince Kerry Von Erich to watch their backs in Greensboro has raised the ire of the Texan. He thought he was going to help David's former partner, but instead was on the receiving end of a vicious beating at the hands of the Horsemen and the Cowboys. Kerry went back to his old rivals and new friends, the Fabulous Freebirds, to partner with in this six-man tag. Kerry was so focused on his revenge against the Cowboys that the Freebirds were stuck trying to overcome Kerry's mistakes. Nowhere was this more obvious than when Orton, Slater, and Rich had Roberts cut off from his corner, and Kerry kept trying to get into the ring to get his hands on the Cowboys. This even caused referee Gil Roman to miss a tag Roberts made to Parsons. Roman forced Parsons back out of the ring, and Roberts had to suffer through another extended period of offense from the rulebreakers. But despite Kerry letting his emotions get away from him, he was able to make up for it when Roberts finally did make a hot tag to Von Erich. He came in all guns blazing and cleared the ring several times of all three of his opponents. It finally broke down, as these matches tend to do, and in the chaos Kerry nailed Rich with the Discus Punch. Roberts and Parsons held off the Cowboys, and Kerry picked up the win for his team.
Kerry Von Erich and The Fabulous Freebirds (Iceman King Parsons and Buddy Roberts) defeated Dirty Cowboys (Bob Orton Jr. and Dick Slater) and Tommy Rich when Kerry Von Erich pinned Rich with the Discus Punch in 0:11:04. Rating: ** ½
After the match, Kerry tried to continue the fight with Slater and Orton, but the Dirty Cowboys wanted nothing to do with him. This might need to be settled at a later date.
Match #7 “The Raging Bull” Manny Fernandez vs. Curt Hennig
This was the second time we had seen Curt Hennig tonight. Just a little while ago he saved Miss Elizabeth from a possible assault by Butch Reed. He had to collect himself and make sure he was ready for a match against Manny Fernandez, a man who has been in a foul mood ever since the fans started referring to him as a chicken. It might have started at the behest of the Hart Brothers, but the fans love getting under Manny's skin and so they've kept up the chant no matter who he is competing against. This was a battle of conflicting styles that saw Fernandez win out with his brawling. When Hennig takes a beating he always looks like he is taking a horrendous amount of punishment. It was no different here as he bounced around the ring after each shot from the Raging Bull. But despite the visible impact of Hennig flying through the air upon each blow, Hennig was able to come back with his beautiful technical wrestling. Fernandez didn't have an answer as he kept getting brought down to the mat. Combine that with his attention on the crowd and it was only a matter of time before Hennig caught him with the Fisherman Suplex to earn the win.
Curt Hennig pinned Manny Fernandez with the Fisherman Suplex in 0:06:19. Rating: *** 1/2
Manny Fernandez better get his head on straight or at Starrcade he is going to be stuck wearing that stupid chicken suit. That is something he will never live down. Meanwhile, Hennig picked up the house microphone and told Savage he was sick and tired of watching after Macho Man's woman. Maybe he should show more attention to her than the US Title he is chasing after. Hennig knew what type of man Savage was, a no-good piece of trash that will do anything to get ahead, and he is not looking forward to picking up the bodies he throws to the side. He warns Savage's friends like Hulk Hogan, Miss Elizabeth, and Larry Zbyszko to be cautious or they will all end up with knives in their back.
Match #8 World Tag Team Titles Match The Dream Team (w/ “Luscious” Johnny V) (c) vs. The Hart Brothers
The Hart Brothers have been a compelling story this year. No one gave them much of a chance when they entered the NWF, but here they are challenging for the Tag Team Titles after winning a tournament held on Worldwide. The Dream Team's concentration was apparently on the new team of the Nightmare Squad and it almost cost them early. Keith and Bruce Hart came out as quickly as possible. They caught Brutus Beefcake and Hercules Hernandez completely unprepared. Within a minute they had nailed Hercules with a double dropkick that sent him flying from the ring. Beefcake saw he was in a two-on-one situation, but he couldn't escape before he was hit with the Hart to Hart (Irish Whip into Thesz Press). The crowd counted along with referee Dave Hebner, but Johnny V saved the titles for his Dream Team by putting Beefcake's foot on the bottom rope. Both Keith and Bruce Hart thought they had won the titles, but Hebner, upon seeing Beefcake's foot on the rope, had to break it to them that the match was still underway. Johnny V got control of his team and put them back on their strategy going into this match. That was to use their strength advantage to keep the Hart Brothers down. There were several other moments where it looked like the Hart Brothers might pull off the upset, but they could never reclaim their adrenaline boost they had at the beginning. Hercules finally caught Bruce in his Full Nelson, a move that no one has been able to escape from. Beefcake was already on the outside pulling Keith off the ring apron and so there was no one there to make the save. Bruce fought valiantly, but was unable to escape the hold before he passed into unconsciousness.
The Dream Team (Brutus Beefcake and Hercules Hernandez) defeated The Hart Brothers (Keith Hart and Bruce Hart) when Hercules defeated Bruce Hart when Bruce Hart passed out in the Full Nelson in 0:09:39. Rating: ** ¼ (The Dream Team retained the NWF World Tag Team Titles.)
The Dream barely escaped with their titles. Johnny V certainly earned his percentage tonight because without him we might have crowned the Hart Brothers new World Tag Team Champions. Going up against the Nightmare Squad of Harley Race and Dick Murdoch at Starrcade will be another huge challenge for them. They better have their heads on straight come November 28th since Race's desire for revenge will only be fulfilled by taking the Dream Team's titles.
Match #9 “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair (w/ Woman/JJ Dillon) vs. Michael “P.S.” Hayes
The leaders of the two most formidable stables in wrestling, Ric Flair and Michael Hayes, squared off next. The Fabulous Freebirds came to the aid of Kerry Von Erich in his war with the Four Horsemen, and, in doing so, raised the ire of Ric Flair. Flair made this match personal on last week's Worldwide when he listed all of Hayes' failures. Hayes was determined to make Flair eat his words. Woman was removing Flair's sparkly purple robe, but they were interrupted by Hayes whipping Flair around and blasting him with a right hand. Hayes sent a flurry of punches Flair's way that sent the Nature Boy bouncing around the ring. Flair, his robe still halfway on, begged for mercy from Hayes, but Hayes was going to give him no quarter. Hayes looked to the crowd for approval and they deafeningly gave it to him. Several hard shots to the top of Flair's head followed. A whip into the corners followed by a big splash in the corner led to Flair flopping face first into the mat. Flair tried to recover, but only a couple of minutes later he flipped over the turnbuckles to the outside after Hayes had violently thrown him into the corner. Flair was in a state of shock as he got to his feet on the ringside floor. In fact, he almost coldcocked Dillon before realizing who it was. Woman finally was able to remove the robe which had been tangled around his neck when Hayes had tried to strangle him with it. Meanwhile, Hayes had the crowd eating out of his hand as he moonwalked back and forth across the ring. Flair would come back into the ring and catch Hayes with a poke to the eye, but he had a hard time maintaining control of the match. Hayes had a fire in him that we have not seen very often. It would be this fire that would cost him in the end, though, as he had suffered through a thorough assault on his knee by Flair, but was in the process of mounting a comeback. He had Flair cornered and was once again asking for the fans' approval to deck him. Taking his eyes off of Flair cost him as Flair pulled his legs out from under him, cradled them up over his head, and then stuck his feet on the top rope for extra leverage. Referee Randy Anderson never saw the illegal tactic being used by Flair. A three count later and the Nature Boy had stolen one away from the leader of the Freebirds.
Ric Flair pinned Michael Hayes with a cradle in 0:14:39. Rating: *** ½
Ric Flair was all smiles as he held the hand of Woman and ushered her up the aisle, JJ Dillon quickly following after. Flair raised his and Woman's arm in victory while Hayes seethed inside the ring. Word has come down that Hayes was furious after the show. But he'll have to wait to get his hands on Flair because the Championship Committee has deemed another match necessary for Starrcade. It will be Ric Flair challenging Terry Gordy – for the number one contendership to the World Title! What a match that is going to be!
Match #10 Hulk Hogan/”The Cruncher” Larry Zbyszko vs. “Mr. Wonderful” Paul Orndorff/”The Russian Nightmare” Nikita Koloff (w/ “Superstar” Billy Graham/”Luscious” Johnny V)
With the upcoming “unification” World Title Match only a few weeks away, Hulk Hogan and Paul Orndorff knew how important it would be to win this match. Not only would it give momentum to the winner, but the possibility of weakening their opponent heading into the match was of high consequence. Hogan already was suffering from an injury to his neck after the attack he felt at the hands of Orndorff and Koloff in Greensboro. His trapezius muscle was heavily taped due to the two Russian Sickles and the Piledriver they used on him at our show on October 20th. That would be the focal point of this match as Mr. Wonderful and the Russian Nightmare tried to capitalize on Hogan's injury. Zbyszko, to his credit, tried to keep Hogan on the apron and wrestle most of this match. There came a point, though, where he needed to tag out and Hogan was begging for the tag. Hogan cleared the ring several times of Orndorff and Koloff, but a cheap shot from behind led to them working over that injured muscle even further. They were going to set him up for the Piledriver or the Russian Sickle, but Hogan kept finding a way to fight them off. Orndorff tried to take it one step further as he ripped the tape off of Hogan and started to drop knee after knee onto the exposed neck and shoulder of Hogan. The match continued on with Hogan in a great deal of pain, but he refused to surrender. Zbyszko would get some more licks in on Orndorff, a man he has feuded with for the better part of the year, but Mr. Wonderful was using Nikita as a roadblock. Zbyszko's attempts to go after Orndorff continued to allow Nikita to pounce on him from behind.
The match eventually led to all four men brawling in the ring. Zbyszko got the worst of it as he was dumped from the ring. This allowed Orndorff to wrap Hogan up from behind and give Nikita a free shot. Koloff charged forward with his Russian Sickle, but Hogan ducked! Nikita clotheslined Orndorff! Mr. Wonderful fell through the ropes as Koloff clutched his head in frustration at what had just occurred. Nikita turned around into a wagging finger from Hogan. Nikita tried a few punches, but Hogan absorbed them and continued to scold Nikita. A few right hands from the Hulkster had Nikita weakened enough for a big bodyslam. Hogan bounced off the ropes and hit his Big Leg Drop, and not even the Russian Nightmare is kicking out from that.
Hulk Hogan and Larry Zbyszko defeated Paul Orndorff and Nikita Koloff when Hogan pinned N. Koloff with the Big Leg Drop in 0:15:30. Rating: ** ¾
Hogan was joined back in the ring by Zbyszko as the two men gave each other a celebratory hug. They wouldn't be celebrating for long, however, as Orndorff reentered the ring with a chair and crashed it across the back of Hogan! Hogan fell to the mat as Zbyszko tried to grab a hold of Mr. Wonderful. All he got for his troubles was a shot to the head with the steel chair. Zbyszko rolled out of the ring as Orndorff lifted Hogan up for his dreaded Piledriver. He connected with it perfectly and it sent Hogan into convulsions! Within seconds RANDY SAVAGE and several officials stormed the ring. Orndorff quickly left, grabbing both World Titles, and holding them up for the world to see. He threw Hogan's World Title on the ground and proclaimed himself the real World Champion. Billy Graham stood by him, applauding, while Johnny V checked on his fallen soldier.
Much like last month in Greensboro, Orndorff had left Hogan laying. This time, perhaps, he won't be getting back up.

I like when a heel cheats even when he doesn't need to. It's such a dick move on Ole's part to do that to Bellomo. Murdoch had a great run in GCW, and honestly, I thought his days of being viable in this universe were over. Apparently not. Good old school pick for Race's partner. Though I don't necessarily like seeing the Midnights lose to a team that's probably not long term, I do like the way it was done. Road Warriors get a little revenge getting closer to Starrcade, the Nightmare Squad (you're welcome) get a quality win to help set them up for the tag title match with the Dream Team, and watching Jim Cornette try to run is always funny. Now Valentine clearly isn't as big a deal as he was a few years ago, but he is still highly touted, and Gordy just beat him clean. That is huge. Here's hoping for a Gordy World Title reign at some point. Kind of what you'd expect out of the Lawler/Steele match. The reveal that Borne is healthy is probably better suited for Starrcade, so another stop on the way to that here. Uh oh... don't do it, Steele! Savage is a jealous man! Well I wonder if Savage is going to take Hennig's save the wrong way again. The result was never in doubt, but Reed bodyslamming Crusher is still impressive. Well, no Freebirds turn or anything here. They actually looked good as a team. Now I'm confused if it will happen or not. Dammit, Josh. Hennig beating Fernandez is obviously the way to go. Manny doesn't need to pick up a ton of wins right now with the chicken gimmick, and Hennig needs to keep being built strong. He definitely put it out there though - don't think there's any doubt that Savage and he aren't going to be friends. Tough loss for the Hart Brothers. Definitely a good showing though. Should keep them legit in the eyes of the fans for awhile so they can retry for the titles next year. Hayes looked great in that match with Flair, and honestly looks like he could have a successful singles run down the line. Flair gets beaten up, but shows why he is the dirtiest player in the game. And Flair vs. Gordy at Starrcade is must-see! Really good booking for the main event. Hogan gets the win, as is what he does, but Orndorff leaves him on the mat again, putting in some doubt that Hogan can overcome those odds. At this point, I'm not sure he can. Real life Hogan would obviously by winning this, and that's my guess here too. But, you've done a great job of Hogan being dominant but vulnerable, so who knows what could happen?

Feedbackery:
Oh good one on Ole, getting the dastardly win over Bellomo.
Murdoch, oh that was a surprise and who would have thunk it? And the Midnights suffer the loss as well.
Gordy is an unstoppable beast and the Hammer just barely got out of the way.
Tension occurs between Bourne and Lawler....who that's not good, not good at all.
A good segment to set up the Savage and Reed title match and....oh things get tense for sure.
Reed retains the title, naturally with Savage being the big match.
And that was a rocking good six man tag team match.
Hennig and Fernandez, that was good. And Hennig's not going to take it anymore.
Dream Team just escaped by the skin of their nuts and with the Nightmare Squad nipping at their heels....yeah it's not going to be a good time.
Flair and Hayes was as good of a match as you would expect and Flair wins the win in typical Flair fashion.
And the tag team main event works well with Hogan getting the win but Orndorff gets the last laugh.

Kansas City, Cheating Ole! Salvatore should never fall for the old handshake trick. "Dirty" Dick? I thought his retirement was legit, but you never really retire in wrestling, do you? Gordy has really made a good comeback! I think his march towards the top will be stopped by Flair temporarily, but Gordy should be a viable contender for any major singles title. The Lawler vs Steele match was obviously for storyline purposes, and was bowling-shoe ugly. Storyline still working for me. AHA! There's Steele's fascination piqued! Great The last two segments have probably been more interesting than the two matches themselves. You're really drawing the last few matches out of Blackwell now, I think. It would have been hilarious if the Freebirds had betrayed von Erich too, but a Horseman->Cowboys->Freebirds coalition might have caused the universe to collapse upon itself. I hope Manny starts using the chickenwing as a finisher. Or someone using it on him. I think Curt knows the real Randy.. Good showing from the Hart Brothers, but alas, not this time. I think they might be too unsexy a team to win the titles in this crazy universe. Flair steals one away! He's not called the dirtiest player in the game without reason. You do such a great job writing Hogan's matches. I was a big Hogan mark when I was a kid, and I can picture the matches easily in my head. Good job! Really looking forward to Starrcade now!

11/3 Worldwide
Kerry doesn't talk much so this is actually a pretty big deal. A feud with the Dirty Cowboys won't make him a main eventer but it might give him an edgier side that he needs to break out.
Great to see Hillbilly Jim in the Universe and his introduction is perfect! With more vignettes on the horizon it looks like Jim could step into the ring pretty soon.
Iceman utilized his ass well....
Your writeup for Ole's match made him sound like such a stiff prick. An Ole/Von Erich feud could be money if that's the direction you're heading.
Excellent promo as usual from Orndorff.
Have I mentioned how happy I am that the Skywalkers match is in this Universe?
You gotta love seeing that Graham is still capable on putting on a really good match. That's a big win for Henning to pin Graham clean on TV but I'm sure Graham was happy to do it.
Savage sounded like a maniac in that promo. No problem with that. He's teetering dangerously between babyface and heel but he fits there perfectly.

11/3 KC
Bellomo never had a chance. Ole resorting to a low blow to win the match is as dirty as it gets.
The Nightmare Squad is quite an intimidating name. Murdoch coming back to NWF is pretty cool. I prefer him as a heel but I'll give this new duo a chance. They got off to a good start defeating the Midnights.
Great to see Gordy back and picking up a win over the Hammer is no easy task, especially post-injury. An inevitable Gordy/Flair match will be legendary in this Universe.
Not much action from the Lawler/Steele match but we just needed to continue the Borne storyline.
And Steele has laid eyes on Miss Elizabeth...
That was not a good idea by Hennig to put his hands on Elizabeth even if he was trying to help.
A quick filler match for Reed here beating Crusher. Savage is out of control!
No scores were settled in the 6 Man Tag. Von Erich looks good in the win though.
I think Fernandez is a great guy to have on the roster, especially now that you've stuck him with a good gimmick. Post match, Hennig has never spoken truer words.
Gotta give it up for the Harts. They looked impressive in the ring with the Dream Team. The Dream Team is good though and I think they'll retain at Starrcade.
Flair's great at making opponents look good and Hayes shined in this match. And the official announcement of the show stealing match at Starrcade, Flair vs. Gordy!
You went a different direction than I had though with the main event but it works great! Orndorff gets his heat back right away and looks like he may have shelved the World Champion with yet another Piledriver!
