WCW Saturday Night Introduction and Explanation [/u][/center] In the “real world” the WCW World Television Title was retired when Eric Bischoff restarted/rebooted WCW in April of 2000. And WCW Saturday Night ended June 24, 2000. So I took those basic ideas and used the TNM-RG rules as a template for this circuit to continue WCW Saturday Night into the realm of imagination. Starting in the beginning of April 2000, there will be one card per week, on Saturday nights. I started with 4 wrestlers hired to 52 card contracts, and new wrestlers will be brought in by the “m” key. I have trouble dealing with a big roster, so typically things will be small and simple. I also tried to stay within a basic idea of wrestlers who have appeared in WCW, or at least who should have been in WCW. But like all TNM ideas, creativity trumps reality. It is also somewhat booked. I will let TNM determine some aspects to keep a degree of randomness and to force elements of creativity on myself (injuries and/or contracts being the most prominent). But for some of the longer feuds and storylines I have used my ultimate power as booker. I hope its as much fun to read as it was/is to write.

But that was a tag team match. I hope you and I get to meet one on one in the tournament. Lets see what you can do without help from a partner!” [World Television Title Tournament - Round 1]: Rick Steiner pinned Shane Helms after a Power Bomb in 0:06:39. Rating: *Next week WCW Saturday Night will feature two more matches in the World Television Title Tournament. In action will be Billy Kidman, Buff Bagwell, and Konnan. Interesting to see just two matches per card. Are you running this with a time slot in mind (30- or 60-minutes). I was out of wrestling during this period, and didn't watch a whole lot of WCW to begin with, so I'm not familiar with this scenario. Will keep reading.

I found when I would start circuits in the past, despite alot of great ideas, I would get bogged down with a problem of trying to find something for everyone on the roster to do. I learned that I enjoy a smaller roster with simple basic cards and matches. I can do more with a few wrestlers and get deeper into characters and feuds over a longer time.
For this circuit, I know it may not be accurate in the wrestling timeline, but I wanted to find a point where I could branch out from reality and have a chance to be more imaginative. So you wont be seeing any top tier wrestlers. I like using the mid-carders or under appreciated over-looked wrestlers. It allows me more room for gimmicks and for characters with personality.

No problem here, man. It's good to see the under-appreciated people getting some love now and then. I look forward to seeing what you've got up your sleeve.

WCW Saturday night April 29, 2000

Steiner calling out Eaton, saying he wants him one on one.] [World Television Title Tournament – Semi Final]: Rick Steiner pinned “Beautiful” Bobby Eaton with the Death Valley Driver in 0:08:25. For eight and a half minutes Steiner brutalized Eaton with closed fist punches, hard lariats, full impact slams, and DDTs. Eaton was beaten and bleeding profusely from the nose. Holding Eaton by the hair to show off the damage he inflicted, Steiner turns to face the camera after the match and yells, “Hes not so beautiful anymore!” [World Television Title Tournament - Semi Final]: Buff Bagwell pinned Jeff Jarrett with the Blockbuster in 0:08:53. Rating: *The finals are set! In two weeks Rick Steiner will face Buff Bagwell for the WCW World Television Title!

Getting used to the smaller cards.
Pretty surprised to see Jarrett drop out of the tournament, and seemingly without much fanfare.

With how silly he has become in hindsight, I always forget there was a time when Buff was really over and a legit star. It's fun going back to that time period. I pick him over Rick Steiner for the title.

Pretty surprised to see Jarrett drop out of the tournament, and seemingly without much fanfare. I was surprised to see that as well! A little behind the curtain info: I had booked the Jarrett/Bagwell match to end with someone hitting their finisher, but without booking the winner. But dont worry, this wont be the last of Double J.

WCW Saturday Night May 06, 2000
Lance Storm made Konnan submit to the Sharpshooter in 0:04:29. Rating: 1/4*
[Buff Bagwell is in the gym lifting weights, getting ready for next weeks Title match.] “Everybody looks at Rick Steiner and sees a big scary guy. Look what he did to Bobby Eaton last week. But that’s not what I see. I’m not afraid of him! That same week I beat Jeff Jarrett and nobody said a damn thing! Nobody was talking about me! That’s because I did what I'm built to do. And that’s wrestle! I get in the ring and I wrestle! I prove to myself, to my opponent, and to all the fans what I do best every time I step into the ring! And next week, I will do what I do and beat Rick Steiner to raise the WCW World Television Title Belt above my head in victory!” [Rick Steiner is in the process of eating a bloody rare steak.] (He growls and barks.) “Buff Bagwell! You step into the ring with me and I’ll do to you what I did to Bobby Eaton… and what I’m doing to this steak! (Holding the steak in his hands he bites off a chunk and roughly chews it as the bloody juice runs down his chin.) Tom Zenk and Billy Kidman defeated Jeff Jarrett and Shane Helms when Kidman pinned Helms with the Shooting Star Press in 0:07:29. Rating: *After the match, Jeff Jarrett yells at Shane Helms for losing and smashes him in the head with his guitar! Next week, Rick Steiner and Buff Bagwell will go one on one for the WCW World Television Title!

Not Shane Helms last week, not Buff Bagwell the week before, not WCW, not you fans, not nobody! I am bigger and better than every one of you could ever dream of! I am the one! I am the chosen one! I am the one and only who should be Champion! WCW is paying me a lot of money to wrestle, and no matter who wins the Title I should be the first challenger!” Match for the vacant WCW World Television Title: Buff Bagwell pinned Rick Steiner with the Blockbuster in 0:08:53. It looks like Rick Steiner is a little upset about not winning the belt last week. I'm sure he's not going to be any happier about being left out of the #1 Contenders Match.

Interesting little circuit here. I like the simple presentation. The roster is great too. Not many GREAT workers in a wrestling sense, but entertaining individuals for sure. I like how you're presenting Rick Steiner. With this roster he easily fills the "monster" role. Buff winning the TV title seems appropriate and having Jarrett as the first challenger will legitimize both guys here on SATURDAY NIGHT~!

Thanks for the comments, I appreciate that.
Things admittedly started a bit slow, but now that there is a Champion things will pick up with more direction and focus.

WCW Saturday Night May 27, 2000
Chavo Guerrero Jr. pinned Tom Zenk with the Frog Splash in 0:04:13. Rating: DUD“Beautiful” Bobby Eaton receives thunderous applause during his entrance to the ring. “When I was a boy, every day I would walk home from school. There was a big old dog who sat on the steps of the hardware store I had to pass to get home. And everyday I would give him a pat on the head and scratch behind the ears. But one day he gets up and chases me home barking and foaming at the mouth. I never ran so fast in my life! “When I got home my daddy told me what to do the next time if ever I saw another mad dog. There is no helping a dog like that. A mad dog has to be put down! “We have a mad dog here in WCW, and his name is Rick Steiner! A mad dog causes trouble for everyone! He has to be put down! And that’s what I aim to do!” #1 Contender Match: "The Chosen One" Jeff Jarrett pinned Lance Storm with the Stroke in 0:08:14. Rating: *In two weeks, “The Chosen One” Jeff Jarrett will face Buff Bagwell for the WCW World Television Title!

WCW Saturday Night June 03, 2000 [Clips of “The Chosen One” Jeff Jarrett winning the #1 Contender match last week] He looks directly into the camera, “Do you know who I am? I am ‘The Chosen One’. That means WCW has chosen me to be the star, to be the shining star! I get paid a lot of money to wrestle on TV. In fact, I make more money in one week than you do all month! So do you really think when I step into the ring to face Buff Bagwell next week that I won’t step out of the ring as Champion? I’ll walk in as the richest man in professional wrestling… and walk out as the richest Champion in professional wrestling! And that’s all I got to say about that!” “Mad Dog” Rick Steiner pinned Tom Zenk with the Death Valley Driver in 0:02:51. Rating: 1/2*This match was another brutal display of strength and power from Steiner. Gene Okerlund is standing at the top of the ramp. Out comes “Beautiful’ Bobby Eaton. Okerlund asks him, “The fans want to know, Bobby what is the issue you have with Rick Steiner?” “What’s the issue? Gene, let me tell you something. Rick Steiner is a mad dog! He runs around barking and growling and he thinks there is nobody who will stand up to him. That he can do anything he wants. Well he’s wrong! He’s a mean ole mad dog and I’m here to put him down!” Steiner, who was previously still in the ring barking at fans, storms up the ramp to face Eaton! “You call me a mad dog one more time and you’ll find out that my bite is worse than my bark!” “You’re a good-for-nothing mad dog!” Eaton replies. Steiner yells, “I’m going to turn you into dog meat!” And Steiner attacks! Steiner and Eaton are brawling away at each other! The action spills off to the side of the ramp and they are heading through the curtains! WCW Referees and Officials are following the two angry men, trying to keep their distance but waiting for a chance to step in and break up the fight. Okerlund tries to restore decorum, “I don’t know what’s happening back there, and frankly I don’t want to find out. Its chaos here on Saturday Night! We have a stand by match for you while we work to get things settled down and back to order.” Billy Kidman pinned Chavo Guerrero Jr. with the Shooting Star Press in 0:06:46. Rating: * 1/2
