The problem is, anyone you establish as awesome, Josh and I are going to try to steal. What are the rules for signing guys? Out of curiosity? Similar to the old TNM-MP? All three organizations can sign whoever they want that is available. There is no rolling of the dice or anything like that. As long as TNM lets us, we can sign them. We then let the others know that the guy is no longer available. We trust each other enough to not have to go to the hassle of figuring out some sort of randomness to signing people. Also, it is kind of an unwritten rule to release guys when you don't really want to use them anymore and have nothing for them. I want WWA and GCW to succeed so I'm not going to put Hogan on the shelf for a year simply because I'm bored with him. It is a little complicated with WWA. He signs his guys to shorter contracts, and so there is the chance that bigger names become available quicker from the WWA than GCW/NWF. There is also the option of signing away talent from WWA while they are under contract, but I don't think that will be used very often. We all follow what TNM gives us. So, if Ryan tried to hire Piper and he was turned down, it probably means Ryan is going to be unable to try and hire him for some time. However long TNM decides. And since he was released from NWF, he will also be unable to be hired by me until TNM brings him back as an option. Ryan and I also use a card multiplier while Vertigo does not because Ryan and I have more cards per year. When/if Vertigo decides to add on more shows or even some sort of TV, he'll probably go with the multiplier as well.

WWA being a regional company, most wrestlers would love to sign with a national organization with television and a larger payroll. So when one of my guys contracts is expiring I'll notify Ryan & Josh who will then get the first shot at signing him. If Josh & Ryan aren't interested or the wrestler declines their offer then I can begin negotiating. I have 3 contracts expiring at the end of October. Knowing full well that 2 of the guys will likely be heading to greener pastures I have to start booking them as if they're on their way out. Which means I'll bury them so much Ryan and Josh won't want anything to do with them.

August 24 The Armstrong's aren't doing so well against Stevens and Tonga.. Neither is Humperdink, who is losing wrestlers left and right. Eadie picked up the win, though. Williams looking for another shot at the title, and just might get it! The Sheepherders don't wrestle pretty, but I guess the crowd was rather hot for this one. The Magnum vs OMG feud is booked really good so far. Magnum uses his brains to win. You should be careful to push him too far though, he tends to quit then So this is where Piper went? Coming in as a face as well. Good to see Piper's skills come to use, and a feud against Humperdink and Eadie should be fun. The faces winning the tag match might have been a better idea if you are thinking of having Mascaras have another go at Funk. Not too familiar with Chris Adams, but this must be the first Superkick thrown in this universe? Fun explanation of the no-show, this can be used to further a "chicken" angle. Which is funny because Ric Rude has chicken legs. Not a 5-star match this time, but a solid match and a great main event to wrap up this good card.

WWA - September 14, 1985 from The Selland Arena in Fresno, CA
1. "Outlaw" Ron Bass vs. "Soulman" Rocky Johnson
It didn't take long for Bass to become one of the most hated individuals in WWA. He came onto the scene as an ally of Terry Funk to ensure that Funk would hold onto the WWA Heavyweight Championship at all costs. Last month they teamed up to defeat Johnson & Mil Mascaras. Many fans were quick to point out that at the end of the match, when Bass pinned Johnson, he was NOT the legal man. Upon review of the tape, Bass was indeed ineligible to pin Johnson. The referee for the match, Bill Alfonso, admits that he lost control and during the confusion, counted Johnson's shoulders to the mat. Rather than taking the issue up with Board of Directors, Johnson simply challenged Bass to a singles match. Bass began with an eye rake right out of the collar and elbow tie up. He didn't waste any time with arm twists or hammerlocks. But Johnson has already been in the ring with Bass and knew what to expect. And he didn't plan on wasting any time with traditional wrestling holds either. What we had was a good ol' fashioned slugfest. Johnson's boxing skill gave him a slight edge but Bass's wild, old timey haymakers packed a wallop as well! After 8 minutes of punches, kick, elbows, throws, eye gouges, and chokes it was a beautiful slingshot sunset flip that secured the win for Johnson!
Rocky Johnson pinned Ron Bass after a slingshot sunset flip in 0:08:07. Rating: * 1/2
Johnson celebrated for just a second before Bass popped right up with his fists clenched. Johnson stood off with him prepared to continue the fight. Referee Dean Ross stood between them in an attempt to keep them apart but Bass pushed him aside and lunged at Johnson. Johnson side stepped the charging bull and peppered him with a few left hands. He winded back for one final, powerful right hand but Bass ducked out of the ring. Bass left ringside in a huff while Johnson once again raised his hand in victory.
2. Jake "The Snake" Roberts vs. Shawn Michaels
Roberts has been getting notoriety for his calculated efforts in the ring. Generally speaking, a wrestling match can take a turn at any moment and strategy can go right out the window. But with Roberts, he never sways. He gets into the ring with a game plan and he sticks to it. Numerous times we've seen a wrestler get the advantage over Roberts only to have Roberts distance himself and get right back on track. His opponent tonight, Shawn Michaels, still has a lot to learn in and out of the ring. He's gotten some attention for his guts and intestinal fortitude and fans are just waiting for him to put the pieces together to become a successful wrestler. It would prove to be very tough to do that against Jake Roberts. Roberts doesn't take anyone lightly but in the opening minutes of the match he was on the receiving end of a flurry of offense from Michaels he wasn't expecting. Jake "The Snake" did what he does best and slithered out of the ring to catch a breather and regroup. Once he came back in the ring he was in full control and it wasn't long before he was laying out Michaels with the DDT.
Jake Roberts pinned Shawn Michaels with the DDT in 0:06:05. Rating: ** 3/4
Not one for celebration, Roberts simply wiped his hands clean and left the ring. He's been eerily quiet the last few months. If it was any other man, no big deal. But when Jake "The Snake" is laying low he's more than likely waiting for the right moment to strike.
3. King Tonga vs. "Hands of Stone" Ron Garvin
Tonga was accompanied down the aisle by Ray Stevens. Stevens stood in the ring going over strategy with Tonga, constantly pointing at Garvin and giving Tonga explicit directions to punish him. When Stevens felt Tonga understood he left the ringside area to prepare for his own match later in the evening. Garvin was looking to get back in the win column but Tonga has been on a mean streak since aligning with Ray Stevens. "Hands of Stone" usually uses his powerful fists to get the upper hand on his opponents but as we've come to find out, King Tonga's skull can withstand a lot of punishment. Tonga leveraged this advantage along with his martial arts background to remain offensive for the majority of the match. Tonga tried to use a nervehold to cut off Garvin's circulation but Garvin drew strength from the fans and fought through it. He punched his way back into the match and used and atomic drop and gutwrench suplex for a near fall. He hesitated to hit another move for just a moment when Tonga surprised him with the Savate Kick.
King Tonga pinned Ron Garvin with the Savate Kick in 0:11:35. Rating: *
It didn't come easy but Tonga picked up the impressive victory over a former Top Contender. Tonga has positioned himself to be a considerable favorite in next month's Cow Palace Battle Royal for the vacant West Coast Championship.
4. Sheepherder Luke & Mr. Pogo (w/Gary Hart) vs. The Fantastics
Sheepherder Luke walked to the ring about ten feet in front of Gary & Mr. Pogo. His usual partner, Butch, was no where to be seen. When The Fantastics hit the ring they were visibly angry that Mr. Pogo had been announced as a replacement for Butch. They claimed the Sheepherders were up to something. That was a possibility, but judging by the mannerisms of Luke and Mr. Pogo, they weren't very fond of each other either. Gary Hart sternly spoke to Luke as if he was calling the shots but Luke brushed him off and kept his distance. Bobby Fulton, who suffered a ferocious beating from the Sheepherders last month, had his ribs wrapped tightly. But the fire was still in his eyes and he wasn't backing down from anyone. The Fantastics have a history with Mr. Pogo as they feuded with the Ninja Express for many months. There was no love lost when Pogo was locking horns with Rogers when the match began. The Fantastics took a few minutes taking out their frustrations with the Sheepherders on Mr. Pogo. When Pogo finally made the tag to Luke he was brought in unceremoniously with a slingshot. The Fantastics really dug into Luke showing no mercy. It wasn't until Luke managed to land a knee right to the taped midsection of Fulton, crumpling him to the mat. Luke had a sadistic look in his eyes as he went to work on the already injured ribs of Fulton. Of course Mr. Pogo wouldn't be left out of the fun. He went so far as to take the bandages off Fulton and choke him with them while Gary Hart distracted the referee. Luke jumped in to double team his opponent. Fulton was turning purple and Rogers had seen enough. He jumped down, grabbed the first thing he could find which happened to be a chair and rushed into the ring. Without hesitation he cracked Luke across the shoulders with the chair! This got the attention of the referee who immediately disqualified the Fantastics. That didn't stop Rogers, though, and he chased Pogo out of the ring with the chair in hand before turning his attention back to Luke.
Mr. Pogo and Sheepherder Luke defeated The Fantastics (Bobby Fulton and Tommy Rogers) when Mr. Pogo defeated Fulton by disqualification in 0:10:49. Rating: ** 1/4 (Sheepherder Butch no-showed.)
Luke was crawling slowly on all fours attempting to get out of harm's way but Rogers leveled him once again with the chair across the back. Mr. Pogo & Gary Hart were long gone by this point. Rogers looked out towards the audience who were giving him 100% approval to continue the beating. Luke was now on his knees begging off. Rogers winded back with the chair to finish Luke but Bill Alfonso snatched the chair away from him. Luke took that moment to slip out of the ring and retreat to the locker room. Rogers' anger subsided as he tended to his injured partner. Fulton was in very bad shape. He had signed on to be in the Cow Palace Battle Royal but the chances of him competing that soon aren't looking good.
5. [Two out of Three Falls Match] "The Crippler" Ray Stevens vs. Brad Armstrong
This is the match that both of these men wanted. Stevens sees this as an opportunity to avenge an unlikely loss he suffered back on May 11 at the Cow Palace as well as humiliate the young Brad Armstrong for one last time. Brad Armstrong, however, has gained a lot of experience doing battle with Stevens & his ally, King Tonga, over the past few months. He's not the same kid Stevens lost to those months ago. The heat was there from the moment they locked up. Stevens tried to bully Armstrong but Armstrong was having none of it and got right in Stevens' face. Armstrong took control and kept Stevens on the mat with a number of headlock takedowns. Armstrong's confidence was building as the minutes ticked on. But it would seem that giving Armstrong the upper hand from the start was part of Stevens' strategy because after 5 minutes of being outwrestled, Stevens signaled to the locker room area and out came King Tonga. Tonga slid into the ring and attacked Armstrong! Referee Eddie Gersh immediately disqualified Stevens but Tonga and Stevens continued the onslaught.
x B. Armstrong beat R. Stevens via disqualification in 0:05:26
They were really punishing Brad before "Bullet" Bob Armstrong rushed the ring. Stevens & Tonga ducked out and avoided confrontation with Bob. Brad was in bad shape going into the second fall. Stevens knew Brad would be easy pickings after the double-team effort. Eddie Gersh refused to start the next fall with Tonga and "Bullet" Bob at ringside so once they cleared out, the second fall resumed. And what an ugly fall it was. Stevens just laid into Brad, pummeling the kid mercilessly before finally putting him out of his misery.
x R. Stevens beat B. Armstrong via the Bombs Away Kneedrop in 0:07:47
Gersh ordered Stevens to a neutral part of the ring while he checked on Brad Armstrong. Brad was dazzed, groggy, and confused. Gersh checked his eyes which looked glazed over. Stevens was very proud of himself on the other side of the ring. Officially, we're tied at one fall a piece. But Brad didn't look like he had won a fall. Gersh shook his head no as if to say Brad couldn't continue and he motioned to the ring announcer. It looked like he was calling off the match before Brad grabbed his arms and stopped him. Brad was refusing to quit. He refused to let Gersh stop the match without giving him a fighting chance. Gersh was hesitant, but he agreed. The crowd was on their feet as Brad staggered into the third fall. Stevens laid a beating on Brad again but now each shot was waking Brad up. It was sending a shot of adrenaline through the youngster every time Stevens laid into him. Finally, Brad started fighting back. At first the punches were coming slow, but then they came quicker and with more force until it was Stevens who was staggering! Tonga rushed out from the back again and slid in the ring but Eddie Gersh stopped him before he could get to Brad! "Bullet" Bob then came back out as well and pulled Tonga out of the ring, scooped him up, and body slammed him on the concrete! Brad looked out to the crowd who was in an uproar before he took Stevens down with the Russian Legsweep. 1…. 2…. 3!!
x B. Armstrong beat R. Stevens via the Russian Legsweep in 0:12:06
[Two-out-of-three-Falls Match] Brad Armstrong beat Ray Stevens 2 falls to 1: Rating: *** [King Tonga interfered against Brad Armstrong.] [Bob Armstrong interfered against Ray Stevens.]
As the bell rang, "Bullet" Bob slid into the ring and helped his son to his feet where The Armstrongs celebrated the victory. Brad Armstrong has taken a huge step in his career by overcoming Stevens here tonight. Stevens rolled out and walked towards the curtain with King Tonga. He wasn't angry or upset, but he was defeated. He looked back at the Armstrongs celebrating, nodded his head, and walked through the curtain.
6. Gary Hart International (The Ninja Express & One Man Gang w/Gary Hart) vs. Magnum T.A. & WWA Tag Team Champions Hector Guerrero & Tito Santana
Gary Hart wanted this match in the worst way. His Ninja Express have come up short twice against the Tag Team Champions and Magnum T.A. has made him and One Man Gang look foolish on multiple occasions. Tonight, Gary Hart International had intentions of dominance. That would be prove to be a very, very tough thing to do. GHI got the jump on the fan favorites in the beginning. It was pandemonium for the first couple of minutes as all six men were duking it out. When the smoke started to clear the Ninjas and One Man Gang were retreating to the safety of ringside. Gary Hart was fuming and shouting instructions at his men. From that point the match resembled a more traditional six man tag match but referee Eddie Gersh still had a tough time keeping order throughout. GHI was exactly what you expected from them. Dastardly, disgusting, and violent. They took every shortcut they could to get an edge. The only problem is Santana, Guerrero, and Magnum were completely prepared for it. In the end all six men were back in the ring. Gersh was threatening disqualifications but it wasn't long before the Ninja Express were thrown from the ring leaving One Man Gang all alone. As tough and big as the Gang is he's no match by himself against the three men in the ring. Santana & Guerrero staggered him with a double dropkick before Magnum T.A. garnered the strength to give him a massive scoop slam! Guerrero being the legal man at the time dropped a quick elbow, hooked the tree trunk-like leg, and picked up the win!
Hector Guerrero, Magnum T.A. and Tito Santana defeated Gary Hart International (Kendo Nagasaki, Mr. Pogo and One Man Gang) when H. Guerrero pinned One Man Gang after an elbowdrop in 0:25:51. Rating: ** 1/2 [Gary Hart interfered against Tito Santana.]
Gary Hart was beside himself as the fans erupted. He was bested again by Santana, Guerrero, & Magnum. One Man Gang rolled out of the ring where Gary Hart did the best he could to help him to the back. The Ninja Express were out of control at ringside, though. They wanted to fight some more. They started tossing chairs into the ring while Santana, Guerrero, & Magnum were challenging them to get in. Gary Hart finally came back to ringside and wrangled up his guys before someone was seriously hurt. Shortly after the match ended Hector Guerrero accepted an offer from the Board of Directors to challenge for the WWA Heavyweight Championship next month in San Francisco!
7. "Gentleman" Chris Adams vs. Marty Jannetty
Jannetty has been up and down here in WWA. There's no question that the fans are behind him but he's still trying to find his stride. He had hoped to get some momentum against Chris Adams. Adams made his debut last month and did a fantastic job of raising the ire of the fans in Cow Palace. Many of those same fans were here in Fresno and they were quick to boo the smug and arrogant gestures of the gentleman. He paid them no mind, however, as he waved and smiled and bowed at his antagonists. Unfortunately, this match didn't last very long as the NINJA EXPRESS rushed the ring just minutes after the opening bell! Kendo Nagasaki was the first in the ring and he pounced on Jannetty.
Marty Jannetty defeated Chris Adams by disqualification in 0:04:34. Rating: ** 1/4 [Kendo Nagasaki interfered against Marty Jannetty.]
Adams looked very confused but he didn't stand around for long. Once Mr. Pogo got in the ring and their eyes met, Adams jumped through the ropes and headed for the showers. Referee Dean Ross wasn't as smart as Adams and he was heaved out of the ring by Pogo. The Ninjas were doing a number on Jannetty before SHAWN MICHAELS hit the ring! Nagasaki charged first but Michaels caught him with a kick to the midsection. Pogo then threw a wild punch but Michaels ducked it and popped him on the chin with a punch of his own. He then grabbed both Ninjas by the head and gave them a double noggin-knocker! Jannetty shook off the cobwebs and joined the fight. Gary Hart came to ringside with a hoard of officials just as the Ninjas were being knocked out of the ring. The Ninjas wanted to get back in and fight but Gary Hart had the officials restraining them and forcing them to the back. Before the night was over Jannetty & Michaels issued a challenge to the Ninja Express for next month which Gary Hart accepted on the Ninjas' behalf.
8. "Ravishing" Rick Rude vs. "Dr. Death" Steve Williams
As Rick Rude made his way to the ring, Ken Resnick stopped him at ringside for some questioning. He wanted to know the reason he backed out of a match last month against Billy Jack Haynes. Rude, irritated at the question, let Resnick know he shouldn't worry about it because the matter is already being taken care of. Resnick continued to poke at the situation asking if Missy Hyatt turning down his advances had anything to do with it. This really got Rude mad as he said she's going to get what she's got coming to her. He said as far as Billy Jack Haynes goes, he's not ducking him. He said he'll get in the ring with Haynes on any night… so long as the rules are actually enforced. Ken Resnick looked a bit befuddled by that comment. Rude then refused anymore questions and entered the ring. His opponent is Steve Williams, a man who has been on an absolute tear lately. Rude was still agitated about Resnick's questioning and it showed during the match. We normally see Rude confident and in control but Williams wasn't giving Rude any time to regain his composure. Even if Rude had been at the top of his game he still would have had a lot of trouble with Williams. Williams is almost unstoppable right now and when he executed the Oklahoma Stampede, it was academic.
Steve Williams pinned Rick Rude with the Oklahoma Stampede in 0:12:09. Rating: ***
We know that Hector Guerrero is getting a Heavyweight title shot next month but you have to believe Steve Williams is in line for a shot as well. As for Rick Rude, he says he's not ducking Haynes at all but his actions, or lack thereof, last month beg to differ. One thing we do know for sure is that both Rude and Williams are entered in the Cow Palace Battle Royal next month.
9. Bill "the Ax" Eadie (w/Sir Oliver Humperdink) vs. "Rowdy" Roddy Piper
Piper made his surprise debut last month when he held Piper's Pit alongside WWA owner Howard Beauchamp. It was then announced that Piper was the first man named to be in the Cow Palace Battle Royal for the new West Coast Championship. It wouldn't be a Piper's Pit without some controversy, however. Sir Oliver Humpderdink made it known that Piper wasn't welcome and after some bickering, Bill "the Ax" Eadie attacked Piper. That leads us to tonight's match between the two. This was an absolute brawl from start to finish. Piper's temper was at a boiling point as the bell rang. Eadie, who has looked fantastic lately, had trouble with Piper early on. As heavy handed as Eadie is, Piper has a background in boxing and his fists were much more effective. Eadie's biggest advantage was in the form of Sir Oliver Humperdink at ringside. Humperdink was running his mouth as usual and Piper, who's never short on words either, was easily distracted by his taunts. When he finally heard enough he gave chase around ringside only to be cut off by Eadie. Eadie then relentlessly went to work on Piper. Piper is a former World Champion. He's notorious in the United States. People all over the world know who "Rowdy" Roddy Piper is. And Eadie was dead set on gaining the same notoriety at the expense of Piper. Piper would fight back though, again relying on his fists to neutralize Eadie. After a series of punches and even a facebite from Piper, Eadie rolled out of the ring. He wasn't safe, though, as Piper went out after him. The two brawled on the floor, completely oblivious to the referee's counting!
Bill Eadie and Roddy Piper battled to a double countout in 0:18:37. Rating: * 1/4 [Sir Oliver Humperdink interfered against Roddy Piper.]
Not even the sound of the bell stopped them. Referee Dean Ross tried to get in between them and even Humperdink tried to pull Eadie off. Eventually Piper rolled back in the ring and insisted Eadie get in. Eadie didn't look like he was backing down but Humperdink would not allow him to get back in. Humperdink was telling Eadie it wasn't worth it and that he'll get Piper another day. In fact, that day is next month in San Francisco! Not only are both Piper and Eadie in the Cow Palace Battle Royal, but they've insisted on wrestling each other one-on-one as well!
10. Your Main Event WWA Heavyweight Champion Terry Funk vs. Billy Jack Haynes (w/Missy Hyatt)
Billy Jack Haynes had the biggest opportunity of his young career tonight against Terry Funk. His rivalry with Rick Rude has been well documented and throughout his entire tenure in WWA he's been labeled as a rising star. He was accompanied by his newly acquired valet, Missy Hyatt. This is actually why we had a bizarre event unfold before the match. As Haynes and Funk were set to square off, Sir Oliver Humperdink came to ringside. He then actually stepped into the ring and asked that Ken Resnick join him with a microphone. Resnick held the microphone up and asked Humperdink what this was about. Humperdink pulled a card, a license of some sort, out of his pocket. He said that this was an official manager's license. It is required for anyone who intends to accompany and instruct a wrestler from ringside. He then went on to say that he has it on good authority that Missy Hyatt does not have and has never even applied for a manager's license. Hyatt put her arms up as if she didn't know anything about a license. Referee Bill Alfonso was forced to eject her from ringside. Haynes protested a bit, but these are the rules. Hyatt was reluctant to leave. Humperdink climbed out of the ring and informed her she HAD to leave. She looked as if she was apologetic but Humperdink decided to grab her by the wrist and forcefully remove her from ringside. This didn't sit well with Haynes who immediately jumped out of the ring. Humperdink let go of Hyatt and ran up the aisle. Haynes gave chase but he ran right into a clothesline from RICK RUDE! Rick Rude then put the boots to Haynes in the aisle before giving a big hug to Sir Oliver Humperdink! Hyatt looked distraught as Rude stomped on Haynes some more. Once Rude felt the damage was done he and Humperdink left the scene.
Haynes was hurting but he wasn't unconscious. Referee Bill Alfonso gave him the option to forfeit his title match but Haynes refused. He was determined to win the WWA Heavyweight title tonight. Without a manager's license Missy Hyatt would not be able to be at ringside to support Haynes either. Terry Funk had a big grin on his face as he stood across the ring from a man who had already taken a hell of a beating. When the bell sounded Funk showed no remorse for the man from Portland, Oregon. Funk instantly targeted the left leg, softening it up for the Spinning Toe Hold. But Billy Jack Haynes had a fire in his eyes. It could have been the fact that he was fighting for the Heavyweight title or it could have been the anger for Rude that was feuling him. Either way, Haynes put up one hell of a fight. After weathering the onslaught from Funk, Haynes was able to get some offense in. He mounted a comeback that included a number of vicious clotheslines and a belly-to-back suplex for a near fall. Haynes then went to lock in the Full Nelson but Funk quickly went into the ropes. Funk managed to get himself all the way onto the ring apron but Haynes grabbed him. He picked Funk up in a vertical suplex to bring him back into the ring but as he lifted Funk up his leg gave out! All the punishment Funk gave him early in the match was coming back around. Funk was like a shark that smelled blood. He went right after Haynes leg and applied and Spinning Toe Hold! Haynes fought the submission but eventually the pain was just too match and he was forced to submit!
Terry Funk made Billy Jack Haynes submit to the Spinning Toe Hold in 0:17:03. Rating: ** 1/4 (Terry Funk retained the WWA Heavyweight Title.)
HERE IS YOUR WINNER… AND STILL WWA HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION… TERRY FUNK!
A valiant effort for Billy Jack Haynes! If it hadn't been for Rude's attack before the match we may very well have had a new Heavyweight Champion. Haynes would have liked to go into San Francisco as the Champion but now he's going in looking for revenge against Rude. He's put his name on the dotted line to compete in the Cow Palace Battle Royal to not only try to win the West Coast Championship but to also get his hands on Rude. Terry Funk could care less that Haynes had to fight at less than 100%. The only thing that matters to Funk is that he is still the Champion. Now he sets his sights on defending the title against Hector Guerrero next month in San Francisco.
Card Rating: ** 1/4

Johnson showing he's still dangerous, but this issue with Bass is nowhere near done. You're really good at painting a clear picture of what's happening in scenes. Like the ending sequence here, it was well done.
We all know the future that Michaels has, so it's fun to watch him struggle early. That's the great thing about doing a historical universe. Getting to build our favorites up from the very bottom. Roberts, meanwhile, continues to look awesome. I can't wait for him to really break out.
Happy to see Tonga get the win over Garvin. Despite how little I like Garvin, he's been near the top of the card in WWA, so this is a big win for the future Haku.
Bad luck with the no-show, but you did a great job of working around it. The feud between the Fantastic and the Sheepherders is quickly becoming one of the most violent in wrestling. The blow-off should be amazing.
That helped make Brad Armstrong into a star. How can you go wrong with a youngster fighting back over a brutal beating from a tough veteran? Great heat, good match, and Brad looked like a million bucks.
Man, GHI just can't catch a break. They're tough, but Gary Hart can't seem to find a way to best Hector, Tito, and Magnum. But man, huge announcement. Not a chance that Hector is going to win the title, but this is high profile for him.
I think we've officially seen the formation of the Midnight Rockers. No doubt they're going to be the most exciting tag team in the world, and the Ninja Express are a good first foil for them.
That was a weird interview from Rude. No idea what's going on with that, but it was kind of all over the place. Wonder what is going on there. Whatever it is, it must be a big deal, because Rude was way off his game. Williams has been great, but figured Rude would put up more of a fight than that.
Wild brawl with Piper and Eadie. Ugly match, but it was effective given what you're trying to do. I imagine the rematch is only going to get crazier. Don't see either of these two winning the Cow Palace battle royal now though.
Haynes did fantastic considering the attack he suffered before the match. Really liked the opening segment to this match with the manager's license. Clever angle there. And Funk found yet another way to keep the title. I'm starting to wonder if anyone will actually be able to beat him for it.
Great show!

September 14
Johnson gets one back at Bass. And ironically enough, a high-flying move does it in a match with haymakers and fisticuffs.
Michaels still needs time to grow. Right now, Jake "the Snake" is the obvious winner. Question: Did Roberts earn his nickname prior to obtaining a real snake? I wonder if we'll ever see the snake vs the crocodile like we did in real life.
You're building Tonga good. He can easily be a top contender for the West Coast Championship soon.
Too bad with the no-show, but looked like a decent match anyhow.
The heel getting disqualified for the first fall is Multiple-Falls-match 101. In this case it somewhat backfired on Stevens though, as Brad got the upset. Really good booking in this match, I can envision the crowd at the final fall.
Hart International has taken a lot of beating from the tag champs and Magnum, and the beating continues tonight. OMG hasn't dominated at all since his debut, which is fine. Not every big man needs to be a monster.
Adams was only used as a prop to bring Jannetty and Michaels together again, but he still managed some character development by chickening out. I'm excited for Jannetty and Michaels, good segment!
Rude is not having a great time as of late. Williams was the right winner, but Rude needs to get back on track if he's to take on Haynes.
I think Piper is above a secondary singles title, and he should also come out on top against Eadie. A double countout in the first encounter helps Eadie keep his momentum.
That's devious of Rude, using the rules in that fashion. Haynes being softened up beforehand made for a great story for the crowd, and elevated him in defeat.
Really good card, probably your best in my opinion.

I like the opener. Wasn't sure about the way you had Bass lose in his second match, but ended up doing little harm. You kept both strong and it makes you want to see a rematch between these evenly matched guys.
Another match to help the build of Roberts. It is only a matter of time before he hits it big. It's so weird watching Shawn Michaels do job duty, but it fits where he was at this point perfectly.
Garvin has dropped off pretty severely since the beginning of the WWA. I'm a much bigger fan of King Tonga, though, so happy with him going over.
Extremely heated tag team match. Sad that Butch no-showed, but you covered for it perfectly. Pogo fit in the story you wanted to tell. Looks like the Sheepherders are drawing out the violent side of the Fanastics. Really can't wait for some sort of street fight or no-dq match between the four.
What a huge victory for Brad Armstrong. Catapults him right past Stevens. Don't know where the Armstrongs go after this, but big things are ahead for Brad. I don't know how far he'll go in this Universe, but I already feel like he has surpassed what he did in real life (I know he had a semi-decent run in the NWA in the '80s).
What a crazy match. Didn't think you'd have Gang take the pinfall, but it actually made sense. Especially considering you had Magnum pull off the impossible and slam Gang in the ring. I like that you are lining up Hector for a shot at the World Title. He has no chance, but giving him the pinfall over Gang makes him look more credible.
Aha, so the Ninja Express' reckless ways have got them in trouble. And there are the Midnight Rockers we've been waiting to see. Absolutely can't wait for their match against the Express on the next show.
Another win for Williams. You've built up several faces as strong challengers for Funk. Williams, TA, Haynes, Piper...Funk is going to have his hands full with title defenses.
Good brawl between Piper/Eadie, and a smart way of getting around having a decisive finish. This feud should last longer than one show. Thankfully, it looks like it will.
Fun main event, and I'm sure the crowd was going crazy any time Haynes looked like he might pull out the win. This kept Haynes strong and the title on Funk.
Goob job, and the Cow Palace show looks tremendous.

8/24/85 – House Show
Surprised that Tonga and Stevens got the win in the opener, but it’s all good. And it looks like Brad and Stevens will head to a blow off. I have to give you credit for making lemonade out of the lemon that was the Abdullah no-show.
Eadie’s getting built up as a strong heel.
You’ve made Dr. Death a big time player. If he sticks with you, you’ve got quite the cornerstone.
I’m really looking forward to the out of control brawls we’ll get between the Fantastics and Sheepherders. It’s barely begun.
Magnum gets the pinfall win on the Gang, but without the Gang taking too much of a credibility hit. Sooner or later Magnum’s going to clash with Funk.
What a coup!!! That’s huge getting Piper!! Hopefully this vaults WWA into more prominence. Eadie’s a great choice to be Piper’s first feud.
Looking forward to the triumphant return of the Cow Palace Battle Royale.
Bass gets the duke and establishes himself as someone not to be trifled with. Looks like he’s set up with Rocky. I wonder when Rocky gets his match with Funk?
I really like how you’ve introduced Chris Adams. His gentleman character looks to be a potential winner.
Bummer about the Rude no-show, but impressive victory for Haynes. And great choice to give him a title shot. It also makes Tonga look good to be able to hang with Haynes for 15 minutes in his second match of the night.
What is Humperdink up to?
It was hard for Guerrero/Santana and The Ninja Express to match the previous month’s match, but it was still a good main event. The six man next month should be fun.
9/14/85 – House Show
Rocky gets some revenge on Bass. I’m still waiting for him to take on Funk.
Jake bounces back after last month’s loss.
Great win for Tonga. It looks like Garvin’s being downgraded after his brief run against Funk and Roberts.
You did the best you could with the no-show by Butch. Looks like we’re going to get some type of stipulation match soon. Are the Sheepherders in the market for a flag bearer?
Huge win for Brad. Hopefully this is something he can build on. Magnum continues to shine. And I like that Hector gets a shot at the World title. He’s exactly the type of credible challenger you want on a card where you already have a main event that sells itself (the battle royale).
I think we have just witnessed a birth of a new team. Hopefully Jannetty and Michaels reach their potential.
Williams is on a role. Rude needs to focus on the task at hand, not on out of ring stuff.
Good start to the Eadie vs. Piper feud. This should get better.
Very good angle with Rude costing Haynes the match. This adds more fuel to the fire that is Rude vs. Haynes, helps Haynes not lose face for losing (it makes him look brave and gutsy) and makes Funk more hated for slipping away with the title again. Haynes might be a good guy to build up for when you want to expand up to the Pacific Northwest.
I’m really looking forward to the Battle Royale card.

WWA - October 5, 1985 from The Cow Palace in San Francisco, CA
1. Bill "the Ax" Eadie (w/Sir Oliver Humperdink) vs. "Rowdy" Roddy Piper
Roddy Piper showed up in WWA the last time we were at the Cow Palace and he quickly made enemies with Sir Oliver Humperdink and his main man, Bill Eadie. Then last month in Fresno, in Piper's first official match, he and Eadie fought all over ringside resulting in a double countout. It was painfully obvious that they wanted to get at each other in a bad way tonight even before the bell rang. Piper didn't even wait to get his shirt and kilt off before attacking Eadie to begin the match. When the kilt did come off, Piper wrapped it around Eadie's throat! Referee Bill Alfonso could have disqualified Piper immediately but opted to give a 5-count before pulling the trigger on a disqualification. It was this leniency of the rules that made the match a bit more brutal than we anticipated. They slugged it out, back-and-forth, for nearly the first 10 minutes before they began to tire a little. When fatigue started to set in Eadie used his strength advantage to catch Piper with a Hotshot, dropping him throat first across the top rope. This afforded Eadie an opportunity for a breather while Piper struggled to find air. The match was Eadie's to win but he took his time dishing out a bit more punishment. Piper wasn't so "Rowdy" now as he tried hopelessly to defend himself against Eadie's devastating offense. Piper backed himself into a corner and covered up while Eadie took shots at him, some well placed, most thrown recklessly. Alfonso issued a 5-count to get Eadie to let Piper out of the corner and when Eadie refused to back off, Alfonso stepped between them. Not a wise move for a referee who weighs about 115 lbs. as Eadie easily tossed him aside. When Eadie turned his attention back to Piper, Piper poked him in both eyes! Eadie staggered away, holding his eyes and turning his back to Piper. Piper then came out of the corner with a running bulldog! Humperdink protested as Piper picked up the 1.. 2.. 3!
Roddy Piper pinned Bill Eadie after a bulldog in 0:16:09. Rating: **
The crowd cheered Piper's victory but Sir Oliver Humperdink was fuming! He was so mad he rolled into the ring and got right in referee Alfonso's face. Alfonso stood his ground and Humperdink's face was turning all sorts of shades of red. Having heard enough Humperdink shoved Alfonso onto his backside and verbally laid into him. Then Humperdink felt a tap on his shoulder and his face went from beat red to a pale white as he realized Roddy Piper was still in the ring. He slowly turned around to see Piper grinning at him! But Bill Eadie was gaining his composure on the mat and just before Piper could level Humperdink, Eadie cinched in the Cobra Clutch! Eadie had the hold locked in tight and Piper was fading fast. It was just a matter of seconds before Piper slipped into unconsciousness. Eadie threw Piper to the mat, content with the damage he had done. This war isn't over by a long shot and Eadie looks primed for the Cow Palace Battle Royal later tonight. It remains to be seen, though, if Piper will be able to compete.
2. The Ninja Express (w/Gary Hart) vs. The Midnight Rockers
Marty Jannetty & Shawn Michaels have struck up quite the friendship as their careers have progressed in WWA. They've been labeled as guys with a lot of potential but neither have found much success on their own. Last month Jannetty was attacked during his match by the Ninja Express who were just looking for someone to take their frustrations out on. Michaels came to his aid and from that point they decided to give tag team wrestling a shot. They're calling themselves The Midnight Rockers, a name that perfectly suits their lifestyles. The Ninja Express could care less what Jannetty & Michaels were calling themselves. They were the usual disrespectful and relentless bullies we know. The Midnight Rockers started the match with confidence, hitting a number of well executed double team moves and making a number of quick tags. The pace was quick and the Ninjas were getting aggravated with the young duo. When you're wrestling the Ninjas, though, your margin for error is very small. And with the lack of experience the Rockers have, especially in a tag team environment, the tide turned rather easily when Michaels, working an armbar, left his chin up and his throat exposed. That's when Nagasaki delivered a martial arts thrust dangerously close to Michael's windpipe. For the next 10 minutes the Ninjas manhandled the Rockers. Both Jannetty & Michaels took a tremendous amount of punishment. Gary Hart was certainly pleased as he was all smiles while he looked on. When Ken Resnick announced that 15 minutes had passed, Hart gave the signal for his Ninjas to stop playing and end the match. He wasn't counting on the resilience of Jannetty. The Ninjas were having no luck keeping his shoulders down. Pin attempt after pin attempt only saw two counts. Mr. Pogo lifted Jannetty up for his Power Bomb but Jannetty slid out and tagged in Michaels! Michaels came in with dropkicks for both Ninjas! Gary Hart hopped onto the apron and grabbed Michaels' arms. Nagasaki charged but Michaels moved and Gary Hart was knocked clear off the apron! Michaels then dropkicked Nagasaki one more time sending him to the outside of the ring. Michaels went after Mr. Pogo and took him over with a beautiful rana. Then Michaels climbed the top rope and came off with one last flying dropkick! As he crawled to Mr. Pogo to make the pin the bell rang…
The Midnight Rockers (Marty Jannetty and Shawn Michaels) and The Ninja Express (Kendo Nagasaki and Mr. Pogo) battled to a draw in 0:20:00. Rating: *** 1/4 [Gary Hart interfered against Shawn Michaels.]
The 20-minute time limit had elapsed! The Midnight Rockers were devastated as they felt they were on the verge of victory and the fans agreed. Gary Hart, looking extremely flustered on the outside of the ring, gathered up his Ninja Express and led them to the locker room area. He apparently wasted little time in getting his team a rematch for WWA's next card on October 26 in Sacramento.
3. Number One Contenders Match Jake "The Snake" Roberts vs. "Soulman" Rocky Johnson
The winner of this match would enter Sacramento at the end of the month with a shot at the WWA Heavyweight title. Rocky Johnson had been on the verge of becoming the Number One Contender back in April but an injury kept him away from that opportunity. He was up and down for the months following before picking up an impressive win last month over Ron Bass. Meanwhile, Jake Roberts has consistently been drumming up attention. If it's not his tactical approach to wrestling, it's his dark demeanor that intrigues people. Johnson likes to work quick. He likes to get in there, show off his footwork, and really get the crowd going. That's why he was frustrated with Roberts' constant backpedaling and stepping through the ropes looking for the referee to separate them. "Soulman" finally had enough of Roberts' powdering. As Roberts' ducked his head through the ropes looking for a clean break, Johnson reached down and grabbed a handful of hair and dragged Roberts' back into the ring. He then unleashed a flurry of strikes that Roberts couldn't escape. Johnson then slammed Roberts to the mat and hit the ropes looking for a big splash but Roberts got his knees up. Johnson had the wind knocked right out of him. Roberts then began his calculated offense. He continued to work on the midsection of Johnson, hitting him with sucker punches to the ribs anytime Johnson let his guard down. When Roberts felt it was time to put Johnson away he measured him up for a kneelift. Roberts charged and threw his leg into the air, looking for Johnson's chin, but Johnson side-stepped! Roberts' momentum carried him legs first into the ropes and he crashed onto the back of his head. This afforded Johnson some time to get his wind back. He mounted a comeback full of back elbows and earringers and finished Jake off with the Johnson Shuffle.
[Number-One-Contenders-Match] Rocky Johnson pinned Jake Roberts with the Johnson Shuffle in 0:11:34. Rating: **
Johnson learned first hand that WWA's young talent is coming up quickly. He fought hard to win the match and he'll have to fight harder if he wants to become Champion. The competition is getting tough and the "Soulman" knows that opportunities like this won't come around very often. He has earned himself a shot at the WWA Heavyweight Title next month in Sacramento and depending on the outcome of the next match he'll either be facing Terry Funk or Hector Guerrero.
4. WWA Heavyweight Championship Match Hector Guerrero vs. WWA Heavyweight Champion Terry Funk
Terry Funk is a man who is easily agitated. On any given day, at any given time, something can set him off. He's a walking bomb with a short fuse. On this day he came to the ring already angry about something. He threatened a handful of fans before even climbing into the ring. Then he walked right up to Guerrero and started trash talking. Funk still had his poncho, hat, chaps, and Heavweight title belt on and Guerrero was still wearing his WWA Tag Team title. Guerrero heard enough and shoved Funk. Funk retaliated with slap. Guerrero responded with a flurry of punches that Funk tried to block. Funk eventually fell through the ropes completely disoriented. Funk lambasted some more fans while referee Bill Alfonso rang the bell to start the match. Guerrero has primarily been a tag team wrestler in WWA alongside Tito Santana so there were questions on whether or not he could be competitive against the Heavyweight Champion. Guerrero answered those by starting off strong and really giving Funk a run for his money. When Funk was finally able to slow Guerrero down, he did most of his damage outside of the ring. Bill Alfonso is one referee who will stretch the rules a bit in a Championship match and no one knows that better than Funk. Funk made liberal use of his wrist tape to choke Guerrero on numerous occasions. But Guerrero is notorious for fighting back and when he got a second wind it was he who was choking Funk with the wrist tape! The fans howled wildly in approval as Guerrero mounted a comeback on Funk hitting an inverted atomic drop, a heel kick, and Northern Lights Suplex for a near fall. Funk slowed him down with a knee to the midsection and tossed Guerrero through the ropes onto the ring apron. Funk got a running start and looked to ram Guerrero off the ring apron but when Funk ducked his shoulder Guerrero flipped into the ring for a sunset flip! Funk countered though and sat down on Guerrero. He then reached up and grab the ropes for leverage. Alfonso never saw it and counted Guerrero's shoulders to the mat!
Terry Funk pinned Hector Guerrero after a sit-down in 0:22:32. Rating: ** 1/4 (Terry Funk retained the WWA Heavyweight Title.)
HERE IS YOUR WINNER… AND STILL WWA HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION… TERRY FUNK!
Guerrero hopped right up and insisted that Funk had cheated somehow. Alfonso saw nothing and therefore the call stands. Funk raised his hand in victory as the fans showered him with boos. Funk now has to prepare for a defense against Rocky Johnson later on this month in Sacramento.
5. The Cow Palace Battle Royal for the vacant WWA West Coast Title Participants: King Tonga, Tommy Rogers, Sheepherder Luke, Sheepherder Butch, "Dr. Death" Steve Williams, Tito Santana, "The Crippler" Ray Stevens, "Bullet" Bob Armstrong, "Ravishing" Rick Rude, "Rowdy" Roddy Piper, Bill "the Ax" Eadie, Billy Jack Haynes, Jake "The Snake" Roberts, S.D. Jones, "Gentleman" Chris Adams, Brad Armstrong, "Outlaw" Ron Bass, "Hands of Stone" Ron Garvin, One Man Gang, and Magnum T.A.
The last time the Cow Palace hosted a Battle Royal of this magnitude was in 1969, sixteen years ago. The anticipation was building as each wrestler made his way to the ring one by one. The last man to enter was the Rowdy Scot himself, Roddy Piper. He looked worse for wear from his match earlier in the night but his adrenaline was pumping and he was angry. He made a beeline for Bill Eadie. When they collided in the middle ring the bell sounded for the match to begin! It was complete chaos for a few minutes while everyone was hitting whoever was closest to them. Eventually rivals starting pairing off with one another hoping to dash each others hopes of becoming the first West Coast Champion. Piper and Eadie were tangled up in a corner, Billy Jack Haynes and Rick Rude were slugging it out in another corner, and Tommy Rogers, one half of the Fantastics, had his hands full with both Sheepherders. Rogers' partner, Bobby Fulton, had to back out of the match due to injuries he sustained from the Sheepherders and Rogers would love nothing more than to eliminate both of them from the Battle Royal.
Our first elimination came while Ray Stevens & King Tonga were attempting to eliminate "Bullet" Bob Armstrong. Brad Armstrong saw his dad on the ropes and came to make the save. First he pulled Tonga away and dazed him with a couple of forearms. Stevens then turned his focus on Brad and leveled the youngster with a stiff right hand to the jaw. "Bullet" Bob seized the opportunity, grabbed Stevens by the back of his trunks and his hair, and gave him the old heave-ho over the top rope!
x Bob Armstrong threw out R. Stevens in 0:04:49
Brad gave his dad a pat on the back but their celebration was short lived as King Tonga was right back at it with them. Jake Roberts, who looked absolutely drained from his match earlier with Rocky Johnson, joined in and paired off with Bob. Jake may have lost his shot at becoming the Number One Contender but he very well could be the West Coast Champion before the night is over. He got off on a good foot as he was able to get the upper hand on Bob Armstrong and dump him out of the ring.
x J. Roberts threw out Bob Armstrong in 0:06:09
Across the ring, Piper and Eadie were still going at it. Sir Oliver Humperdink was shouting at ringside for his newest client, Rick Rude, to give Eadie some assistance but Rude was busy enough trying to avoid elimination from Billy Jack Haynes. Things were also getting rather heated between Magnum T.A. and Ron Bass. Bass was in his element in this match, hitting guys from behind and choking and eye gouging. Moves like that are allowed in a Battle Royal but one guy who took offense to Bass's dirty tactics was Magnum T.A. Bass tried to choke Magnum, both hands across his throat, but Magnum choked right back. Eventually both had to let go and they resorted to exchanging fisticuffs. Bass then thought he was brilliant by putting a boot in Magnum's midsection. Thinking he had Magnum dazed enough to eliminate him he charged with a clothesline. Magnum sidestepped him and Bass's own momentum carried him over the top rope!
x Magnum threw out R. Bass in 0:07:02
Bass was furious! He reached into the ring, grabbed Magnum's feet, and dragged him out of the ring under the bottom rope. He then slammed Magnum's head into the ring apron before whipping him hard into the ringside railing. Referee's rushed to break it up and they managed to get Bass away from ringside. Magnum was hurting but he needed to get back into the ring if he wished to continue. He struggled but eventually he rolled back in where Chris Adams, ever the opportunist, immediately started putting the boots to him. Meanwhile, S.D. Jones and Ron Garvin were attempting to get One Man Gang out of the match with little success; Tito Santana and King Tonga were going at it in a corner; Steve Williams had joined Tommy Rogers in his battle with the Sheepherders; and the sight of our next elimination, Brad Armstrong and Jake Roberts were tangled together in the ropes. Roberts had Armstrong's feet off the ground and was trying to throw him out. Armstrong couldn't hang onto the ropes anymore and started to fall. But he grabbed Roberts in a headlock on the way down. Roberts flipped over the ropes while Armstrong landed safely on the ring apron and rolled back in!
x Brad Armstrong threw out J. Roberts in 0:07:45
The Sheepherders were doing a number on Tommy Rogers and Steve Williams. After Butch had pummeled Rogers down in the corner he turned towards Williams and grabbed his arms behind his back. Luke was able to land some clubbing forearms to Williams' chest, knocking the wind out of the former collegiate football star. The Sheepherders then looked to Rogers to do the same thing. Butch grabbed him and held his arms behind his back. Luke winded up for a big clothesline but when he threw it, Rogers ducked and Luke connected with Butch sending him over the top rope to the floor!
x Luke threw out Butch after a clothesline in 0:08:24
Luke didn't have time to react before Rogers grabbed him by back of his camoflouge pants and tossed him out right behind his partner!
x T. Rogers threw out Luke in 0:08:27
Rogers and Williams then joined the group of guys attempting to eliminate One Man Gang. Gang is the largest man by far in the Battle Royal and that's why he was consistently fending off two and three guys at once. Now he found himself teetering on the ropes with his feet high in the air. Ron Garvin had one leg, Santana had the other, S.D. Jones and Magnum were holding him up by his torso, and now Rogers and Williams were adding what they could to get the big man out. Gary Hart watched on horrified as the Gang, his sole representative of Gary Hart International, was on the verge of elimination. Eadie was taking a breather and King Tonga was now working over Piper in a corner; Haynes had Rude on his shoulders trying to throw him out; and Chris Adams was laying some shots in on Brad Armstrong in a corner. Adams thought he saw an opportunity to sneak in and eliminate one of the guys trying to throw out One Man Gang. He left Brad Armstrong, went over to Magnum, and dumped him over the ropes. Magnum was able to hold on and landed on the ring apron but without Magnum helping, One Man Gang was able to get his feet back on the mat. Now Gang's arms were freed up and he started clubbing everyone in sight. He turned his focus to S.D. Jones and pitched him out of the match with ease.
x One Man Gang threw out S.D. Jones in 0:11:38
Bodies were crumpling all over as One Man Gang was dishing out some heavy blows. Then Gang noticed Magnum still out on the ring apron. He went over to him but Magnum met him with a solid right hand to the chin staggering the big man. Magnum then ran down the ring apron and climbed the turnbuckles from the outside. He dove at Gang with a cross body attempt but Gang caught him! Gang walked over to the ropes and dumped Magnum out of the ring!
x One Man Gang threw out Magnum in 0:12:36
An amazing show of raw power by the Gang. Outside the ring, Magnum barely made it to his feet before Ron Bass was back at ringside stomping on him. Referees pulled Bass away and an enraged Magnum started throwing bombs at Bass. The two brawled all the way to the locker room area! Back inside the ring, Gang was once again being double teamed by Rogers and Santana; Piper was back at it with Eadie but was completely spent; Tonga was now lending a helping hand to Rude as they both were putting a hurting on Billy Jack in a corner before Williams pulled Rude away; Brad Armstrong was trying to clear the cobwebs in another corner; and Adams was desperately trying to eliminate Garvin in another corner. Garvin looked like he was about to go out of the ring head first but he locked Adams' body in a leg scissors and pulled him over the top rope instead! Unfortunately for Garvin, all that momentum made it too difficult to hang on and his feet touched the floor as well.
x R. Garvin threw out C. Adams in 0:15:02 x C. Adams threw out R. Garvin in 0:15:02
Adams and Garvin bickered with each other on the floor but the referees managed to keep them at a distance. That is until Adams grabbed a beverage from a fan at ringside and threw it in Garvin's face. Adams hightailed it to the dressing room while Garvin gave chase. Ten wrestlers were left in the ring now. Rogers, Santana, and Brad Armstrong were now doing the best they could to eliminate Gang. King Tonga even joined in to help. Then Piper started helping and Gang was teetering again! It looked like he was going over until Bill Eadie snatched Piper by the hair and pulled him away. Now Gang's feet were back on the mat and he was clubbing away the guys who were trying to throw him out. Lastly he grabbed Tommy Rogers and sent him for a long ride over the top and to the floor!
x One Man Gang threw out T. Rogers in 0:18:34
Santana stepped in and started rocking Gang with overhand rights that staggered the big man. Santana then started in with quick jabs to Gang's midsection and followed that up with a dropkick. Gang was trying to keep his balance as Brad Armstrong hit him with a second dropkick staggering Gang towards the ropes. Santana looked to deliver the last shot as he hit the ropes to get some momentum but Gang came charging as well and cut Santana down with a brutal clothesline. Gang picked Santana's limp body off the mat and easily threw him out.
x One Man Gang threw out T. Santana after a clothesline in 0:19:07
Gang then started to go to work on Armstrong in a corner. Haynes and Tonga were trying to best each other in another corner. Williams had Rude in a precarious spot on the ropes. And Eadie and Piper were exchanging punches in the center of the ring. Piper was getting the better of the exchange and Eadie was dazed. Eadie took a wild swing but Piper ducked and nailed Eadie with an atomic drop. The momentum of the move nearly sent Eadie over the top rope but he was barely able to stop himself. He was halfway out of the ring when Piper started trying to lift his legs over. Sir Oliver Humperdink quickly tried to help by attempting to push Eadie back into the ring. Piper let go of Eadie and reached down to grab Humperdink. He pulled Humperdink up onto the ring apron and leveled him! The crowd roared as Humperdink bounced off the ring apron and down to the floor. While all this was happening, though, Eadie managed to swing back into the ring. Before Piper knew what happened Eadie was dumping him out!
x B. Eadie threw out R. Piper in 0:22:00
Eadie collapsed to the canvas, completely spent from fighting with Piper for seemingly the entire night. It was a shock for the fans to see Piper eliminated as he was a heavy favorite to take the entire thing. Piper walked away very disappointed but both he and Eadie know they still have a score to settle. In a corner, One Man Gang was toying with Brad Armstrong. He could have eliminated him whenever he wanted but instead he had plans of squashing the youngster. He took a few steps out and charged in but Armstrong collapsed from exhaustion. Gang hit hard sternum first against the corner. As he staggered backwards, Steve Williams charged with a shoulderblock to his back. Gang stumbled forward and right over the ropes!
x S. Williams threw out One Man Gang after a shoulderblock in 0:24:54
Just as Gang toppled to the floor, Bill Eadie ran up behind Williams and dumped him out of the match!
x B. Eadie threw out S. Williams in 0:25:01
We were down to five guys. Billy Jack Haynes helped Brad Armstrong to his feet in one corner. Eadie was catching his wind in another corner with Rick Rude. King Tonga looked fresh but standing on his own as he was waiting for someone else to make a move. Sir Oliver Humperdink told his men to forget about Brad Armstrong and focus on getting Billy Jack Haynes out of the match. Eadie & Rude went after Haynes while Tonga moved in on Armstrong. Tonga & Armstrong have quite the history and know each other well. That's why when Tonga set up for the Savate Kick, Armstrong was aware enough to duck it and deliver a hard chop to Tonga's chest. Tonga shook it off and went for a chop of his own but Armstrong ducked that as well and started unloading forearms on the islander. Armstrong was getting on fire but Tonga slowed him down with a elbow to the midsection. Tonga shot him into the ropes but Armstrong came back off with a cross body. Tonga caught him but all the momentum sent both backwards over the ropes! Fortunately for Armstrong, he landed on the ring apron. Tonga wasn't so lucky.
x Brad Armstrong threw out Tonga with a high cross body in 0:28:32
Armstrong rolled back in under the bottom rope. He noticed Rude and Eadie had their backs to him while they tried to eliminate Haynes. Armstrong rushed Rude from behind and lifted him over the rope. Rude caught himself with one arm on the apron as Armstrong desperately tried to get him out. Eadie dropped Haynes and went after Armstrong, clawing Armstrong in the face before lifting him up and throwing him out.
x B. Eadie threw out Brad Armstrong after a facerake in 0:29:20
Haynes was now in a two-on-one situation with the new House of Humperdink. Rude had a huge grin on his face. He and Haynes have been feuding for quite some time. It was just last month that Rude's alliance with Oliver Humperdink was brought to light when Humperdink pointed out that Missy Hyatt, Haynes' manager, did not have a manger's license and therefore could not be at ringside for Haynes Heavyweight Title shot. This led to a violent attack by Rude on Haynes, inevitably costing Haynes the match. Now Rude has the chance to make sure Haynes doesn't win the West Coast Championship either. Eadie was listening to instructions from Humperdink while Rude stalked Haynes. Haynes was game to take on both men but his chances of getting out of this looked slim. Eadie wanted to discuss Humperdink's plan of attack with Rude but Rude brushed him off and went right to throwing punches at Haynes in a corner. Haynes started to slouch and Rude started putting the boots to him and choking him while he sat in the corner. It looked like Rude wanted to punish Haynes more before eliminating him. Eadie pulled Rude off and started shouting at him. Let's not forget that these two haven't really worked together under the tutelage of Humperdink. Eadie was making it clear that they needed to throw Haynes out and Rude was telling Eadie to back off. Well Haynes got to his feet in the corner and the bickering stopped. Rude shrugged Eadie off and charged Haynes. Haynes ducked an attack from Rude and dropped Eadie with a back elbow. Rude came charging but Haynes caught him with a backdrop. Rude got to his feet using the ropes. Haynes went toward him, but noticed Eadie was charging him. Haynes ducked and Eadie hit Rude, sending him over the top rope!
x B. Eadie threw out R. Rude in 0:31:57
It didn't appear that Eadie really tried to stop himself from pushing Rude all the way out of the ring. Haynes went to throw Eadie out but Eadie slowed him down with a thumb to the eye. Eadie then scooped Haynes up on his shoulder and got a running start to the ropes. Just before throwing Haynes out, Haynes slipped behind Eadie, and added some force to Eadie's momentum with a big shove to the back. Eadie flipped over the top rope to the floor!
x Haynes threw out B. Eadie in 0:32:28
[20-Man Cow Palace Battle Royal for the vacant WWA West Coast Title] Billy Jack Haynes won a 20-man Battle Royal: Rating: *** (Billy Jack Haynes won the WWA West Coast Title.) [Gary Hart interfered against Billy Jack Haynes.] [Gary Hart interfered against S.D. Jones.] [Sir Oliver Humperdink interfered against Billy Jack Haynes]
HERE IS YOUR WINNER… AND THE NEW WWA WEST COAST CHAMPION… BILLY JACK HAYNES!
Rick Rude was right there to get in the face of Eadie at ringside. The two shouted at one another before Rude shoved Eadie. Eadie shoved him back and that's when Humperdink got in between them. After a few more words were exchanged, Eadie walked to the back. Rude still fumed at ringside while Billy Jack Haynes was presented the WWA West Coast Championship. Missy Hyatt stepped into the ring and gave Haynes a big celebratory hug. The site of Hyatt enraged Rude even more. Rude really wanted to get back in but Humperdink kept him out. Rude pointed at Haynes reminding him that this wasn't over. Haynes obliged Rude as if to say anytime, anywhere. Sir Oliver Humperdink's priority appears to get his men on the same page. He's challenged Billy Jack Haynes & Roddy Piper to a tag team match against Bill Eadie & Rick Rude in Sacramento!

Good opening match. Right man went over as Piper's not here to job, but Eadie got his heat back. Plus, it gives a reason for later why Piper doesn't win the battle royal.
Great first tag effort for the Midnight Rockers. I also liked that you put them over without jobbing out the Ninja Express. The Ninja Express isn't going to be an all-time great team, more than likely, but right now they're still strong, so no need to kill them off just yet.
Though I obviously like Roberts far more than Johnson, Johnson is the right call to win. He's only got so much time of being a useful hand, so gotta get what you can out of him now.
Fun championship match. Nobody thought Hector was going to win, but he got his shots in. Plus, there's nothing better than a heel who cheats even when he doesn't have to. Man, it just makes him look like such a scumbag.
I had a hunch Billy Jack Haynes would win this, and I'm glad to see he did. It's crazy to think that in this universe right now, with all the talent out there, Haynes has a championship. That's crazy to me. Haha. It's a testament to what you've done with him. A lot of stories were forwarded in this one. Williams got a big moment by eliminating Gang, but then instantly got dumped out and forgotten. Seemed odd there. But I like Haynes as first West Coast champ. Adds another piece to the feud with Rude.

Hot opener. Surprised Piper went on first, but I'm sure it got the crowd riled up. Good way to get Piper the win, but keep Eadie looking strong after. Bet these two mix it up later on in the battle royal.
It's amazing we are already in the time period where the Midnight Rockers debuted. They looked very good in their debut. I like that you didn't give them a victory right off the bat as this feud has legs between the Rockers and Ninjas.
Johnson is a credible challenger. Not one that probably has much of a shot at winning the title, but someone that can draw butts to seats.
Rough way for Hector to be pinned. I'm loving the way you are writing Terry Funk. He is so smart and wily that I don't see anyone dethroning him. At least not in the near future.
Nice nod to Universe history that you mentioned the last time they had a battle royal it was in 1969. Bravo.
What an amazing battle royal! There have been some good ones recently, but yours is near the top of the list. Just great stuff.
You built up Gang extremely well and then used him to elevate Williams. Very clever booking there and in the rest of the battle royal. I thought Magnum, Haynes, or Rude had a good chance. I think Haynes was a smart choice for your first West Coast Champion. If he sticks around WWA, there is a good chance he surpasses what he did in real life.
Wonder if Humperdink can keep Rude and Eadie happy in the same stable? It would be early for a break up, but I doubt either man was too happy in the locker rooms. Looking forward to see how this is resolved.

Good way to start the show, and to give the nod to both Piper (for winning the match) and Eadie (for winning the battle).
Rockers almost had their first big win there, but alas. Next time, maybe.
"Soulman" ekes out the victory against "the Snake", but will he topple Funk? I think not.
Guerrero really held his own against Funk for over 20 minutes, impressive! Shows he deserved the title shot.
Haynes as the first West Coast Champion is a good choice, and allows another stake to enter the feud with Rude.

Nice finish to the opener. Piper gets the win, but Eadie gets the heat. Really helps build up that feud. The ending to the battle royal throws another dynamic into it. Can't wait to see how that tag match unfolds.
Not giving Johnson much a chance against Funk. Wondering though if Johnson's 13-year old son will be ringside to watch his daddy fight for the title.
Nice match for the Midnight Rockers. I think the draw was a good booking choice there. Rockers get a good boost without it coming too much from the expense of the Ninjas.

WWA - October 26, 1985 from The Arco Arena in Sacramento, CA
1. Mr. Pogo (w/Gary Hart) & Sheepherder Butch vs. The Midnight Rockers
The Midnight Rockers were really looking forward to a tag team rematch with the Ninja Express. At our last event the two teams battled to a 20-minute time limit draw. The Midnight Rockers, the newly formed team of Shawn Michaels & Marty Jannetty, considered that a huge step in the right direction. It wasn't a win but they proved they could hang with an experienced and successful tag team like the Ninja Express. Unfortunately, Kendo Nagasaki had some travel issues and Gary Hart had to find a replacement. Sheepherder Butch took up the offer on the grounds that last month Mr. Pogo had replaced him in a similar situation and he was returning the favor. It was clear during their entrance, however, that they were not friends and Butch absolutely was not taking orders from Gary Hart. The Rockers were offered a chance to back out of the match and fight another day but they weren't interested. They showed up ready to work and they put on one hell of a display. They were quick and innovative and the fans were impressed by what they saw. With a little more seasoning The Rockers could have a bright future ahead of them. But they're being introduced to some rough and tough opponents early in their careers. Butch & Mr. Pogo may be very different personalities, but their styles are similar and despite never teaming before their mutual reverence for rule-breaking led them to a victory tonight.
Sheepherder Butch and Mr. Pogo defeated The Midnight Rockers (Marty Jannetty and Shawn Michaels) when Mr. Pogo pinned Jannetty with the Power Bomb in 0:18:12. Rating: ** 3/4 (Kendo Nagasaki no-showed.)
Sheepherder Butch hopped off the ring apron and nodded in the direction of Gary Hart as if to say "you're welcome". Meanwhile, Pogo looked ready to take on Shawn Michaels who was standing over his partner with his fists up. Pogo thought better of it as he backed out of the ring. There is no doubt The Midnight Rockers will be back to fight another day and I'm sure they're still looking for that rematch with the Ninja Express.
2. One Man Gang (w/Gary Hart) vs. "Bullet" Bob Armstrong
Gary Hart wasn't away from ringside for too long as he accompanied One Man Gang to the ring for our next match. The Gang made quite an impact in the Cow Palace Battle Royal by eliminating four guys on his own. He wouldn't win the match, though, and you better believe he and Gary Hart are upset about it. They've got their sights set on the West Coast Championship but Gang is going to have to work his way into contention. He would have to wrestle the wily vet that is "Bullet" Bob. Bob's getting up there in age but he's still a solid hand on the mat and he could beat anyone on any given night. However, tonight wasn't Bob's night. Gang overwhelmed Bob with a number of clubbing strikes before locking in a bearhug. "Bullet" Bob nearly passed out as Gang tried to squeeze the breath out of him but he got a second wind and broke free from the hold. Bob did everything he could to bring the big man down to the mat so he could really start working some holds but Gang just wouldn't be knocked off his feet. In the end, "Bullet" Bob punched himself out and left himself easy pickings for a scoop slam and the 747 Splash.
One Man Gang pinned Bob Armstrong with the 747 Splash in 0:11:24. Rating: ** 1/4
As impressive as Gang was in the Cow Palace Battle Royal, this is the most impressive we've seen him look in singles competition. Gang's career is still young and he's still got a lot to learn but a few more wins like this and we could see him wearing a Championship sooner rather than later.
3. Sheepherder Luke vs. Tommy Rogers
The feud between The Sheepherders and The Fantastics has escalated quickly considering The Sheepherders entered the WWA just 3 months ago. The Sheepherders disrespected The Fantastics upon arrival and then badly injured Bobby Fulton's ribs in a match in August. Tommy Rogers gained a bit of revenge by eliminating The Sheepherders from the Cow Palace Battle Royal. But it was obvious as the bell rang for this match that the score had not been settled. Rogers, who is normally a fast paced, technically sound wrestler, immediately went after Luke with closed fists and stomps. The match resembled more of a parking lot brawl than a wrestling match. It didn't take long for Butch to creep to ringside and when the opportunity presented itself he jumped onto the ring apron and landed a clubbing blow to the back of Rogers' head. Luke, who was distracting the ref, made the cover. As the referee counted BOBBY FULTON ran to ringside! He clearly wasn't dressed to wrestle but he was prepared to fight. He pulled Luke out of the ring and started hammering on him!
Sheepherder Luke defeated Tommy Rogers by disqualification in 0:08:10. Rating: * 1/4 [Bobby Fulton interfered against Sheepherder Luke.] [Sheepherder Butch interfered against Tommy Rogers.]
Butch ran over but Fulton started firing away on him as well. But two against one aren't good odds and once Luke kicked Fulton in the rib cage it was obvious that Fulton still wasn't completely healed. Fulton did his best to separate himself and rolled into the ring but with Rogers still out cold, The Sheepherders didn't relent. They continued the assault until THE MIDNIGHT ROCKERS rushed the ring! The Sheepherders were overwhelmed and the fans erupted as Michaels & Jannetty made the save. The cheers wouldn't last long, however, as THE NINJA EXPRESS hit the ring and leveled the Rockers. Soon, The Sheepherders and The Ninja Express were standing tall in the ring. The Fantastics & The Midnight Rockers made it clear they wanted to get their foes in the ring as soon as possible and a match has been put together for November 23 pitting The Fantastics & The Midnight Rockers against The Ninja Express & The Sheepherders in an 8-man Tag Team Match!
4. "Outlaw" Ron Bass vs. Magnum T.A.
Ron Bass is most likely the grumpiest, angriest wrestler around. Any night, no matter what, he's in a bad mood. He'll pick a fight with anyone over anything. In the Cow Palace Battle Royal he was eliminated by Magnum T.A. and he obviously didn't take it well. The two brawled at ringside immediately and would later collide again following Magnum's elimination. Magnum insisted on having this match to teach Bass a lesson. Bass is a pretty one-dimensional wrestler relying on his brawling to bully people around the ring, but Magnum isn't one to be bullied. And Magnum is so well-rounded that not only could he outwrestle Bass but he could also go toe-to-toe when the match broke down fisticuffs. It was a tough bout for both guys but Magnum took home a victory after hitting his patented Belly-to-Belly Suplex.
Magnum T.A. pinned Ron Bass with the Belly-to-Belly Suplex in 0:15:18. Rating: **
Magnum celebrated his victory by high fiving every outstretched hand around ringside. Bass, being his usual ill-tempered self, threw a hissy fit in the ring. After chasing referee Bill Alfonso out of the ring he shouted unpleasantries at the crowd before finally leaving.
5. WWA Tag Team Titles Match "The Crippler" Ray Stevens & King Tonga vs. WWA Tag Team Champions Tito Santana & Hector Guerrero
The team of Ray Stevens & King Tonga were recently in a grueling feud with the Armstrongs and while they may have come out on the losing end they showed they were a force to be reckoned with. Stevens has taken in Tonga and turned the young and naive islander into a dangerous and polished wrestler. Following the Cow Palace Battle Royal Stevens negotiated a contract to face the Tag Team Champions in a non-title match but when Santana & Guerrero were presented the deal they demanded it be for the titles. They are fighting Champions and want to defend the belts against all challengers. The Champions had the crowd in frenzy as they maintained control in the early parts of the match. But Stevens always has a gameplan and even the Champions struggled at times to counter Stevens old, dirty tricks. Plus, with Tonga willing and able to take direction from Stevens, Santana & Guerrero had their hands full. In the closing moments of the match, Guerrero made a hot tag to Santana who started bouncing Stevens all over the ring. Santana was gaining momentum just as Tonga reached and grabbed his arms, holding him in place. Stevens winded up for a big haymaker but Santana ducked and Stevens connected with Tonga knocking him off the apron. As Stevens turned around Santana was coming off the ropes with the Flying Forearm knocking the veteran out!
Tito Santana and Hector Guerrero defeated King Tonga and Ray Stevens when T. Santana pinned R. Stevens with the Flying Forearm in 0:16:05. Rating: ** 1/2 (Tito Santana and Hector Guerrero retained the WWA Tag Team Titles.)
It should be noted that Santana & Guerrero have been invited to compete in the Grand 16, a 16-team one-night-tournament hosted by GCW to be held in Chicago, IL. The WWA and the fans feel strongly that Santana & Guerrero will show the world just what the WWA has to offer.
6. Jake "The Snake" Roberts vs. Brad Armstrong
Jake Roberts had a rough night in San Francisco. First he lost a Top Contenders Match to Rocky Johnson and then he was unsuccessful in his attempt to win the Cow Palace Battle Royal. Brad Armstrong on the other hand had a heck of night as he made the final four in the Battle Royal. Coming that close to winning further solidified the fact that this kid is inching closer to breaking out into a star. The fans already love him and they showed that tonight as they stuck by his side through his tough match against Roberts. Armstrong thought he had the match won after he hit a flying dropick from the top. He made the cover and the referee counted 1…2… and he almost counted 3 but Jake had his foot on the ropes. Brad didn't feel Jake kick out so he had assumed he'd won. He popped up and celebrated while referee Dean Ross tried to let him know the match wasn't over. Jake got to his feet, swung Brad around, and planted him with the DDT!
Jake Roberts pinned Brad Armstrong with the DDT in 0:09:51. Rating: * 1/2
Armstrong made a rookie mistake and it cost him big time. There's no doubt Brad has a ton of heart and determination but he's going to have be smarter than that in the future.
7. "Gentleman" Chris Adams vs. "Hands of Stone" Ron Garvin
This was another match that was a direct result of something that happened in the Cow Palace Battle Royal when Adams and Garvin eliminated each other at the same time. Adams then threw a beer in Garvin's face. Since joining WWA, Adams has shown himself as a very pompous and arrogant individual. He was no different tonight. He began the match as if he wanted to apologize to Garvin with a handshake. But Garvin didn't care much for apologies and he went right after him. Adams spent a lot of the early parts of the match defending himself, begging off, and pleading with Garvin to give him a break. But Garvin was relentless and the fans loved it. In the closing moments of the match, Adams retreated. He had every intention of just walking out of the match but when he made it halfway up the aisle, Garvin stopped him and began dragging him back to the ring. Adams dropped down and gave Garvin a low blow out of sight from referee Eddie Gersh. As Garvin crumbled Adams ran back into the ring before Gersh counted them out.
Chris Adams defeated Ron Garvin by countout in 0:11:16. Rating: * 1/2
It was a cheap way to win but Adams didn't seem to mind. He celebrated with a huge smile on his face as he waved at the fans. The fans responded with boos. Garvin was able to get back into the ring and just as he was about to get his hands on Adams, Adams jumped out of the ring and ran for the hills. Next month in San Francisco these two have agreed to meet up in a No Countout Match.
8. The House of Humperdink (Bill "The Ax" Eadie & "Ravishing" Rick Rude) (w/Sir Oliver Humpderdink) vs. WWA West Coast Champion Billy Jack Haynes & "Rowdy" Roddy Piper
Sir Oliver Humperdink led his team to the ring. They looked much more unified since the last time we saw them when they couldn't get on the same page in the Cow Palace Battle Royal. Rude was recently added to Humperdink's stable and at the time he may not have been completely clued in on how Humperdink runs things. But tonight they looked like a solid team. Billy Jack Haynes was accompanied by Missy Hyatt but she was dismissed from ringside before the opening bell due to not having her manager's license. And Piper was jittery with the thought of getting his hands on Eadie. Eddie Gersh certainly had his hands full trying to keep this match under control. Emotions were high and all four men had an agenda. Haynes & Piper looked strong in the early part of the match but they mostly worked on their own, not relying much on their partners support. It wasn't that they avoided one another it was just that they don't have much experience in teaming. On the other hand Humperdink and his men were all following the same game plan. When things really started to break down at the end of match, Haynes was the legal man. The West Coast Champion was laying a beating on Rude. He locked Rude in the Full Nelson but Eadie broke that up quickly. This caused Piper to enter the ring. He tackled Eadie to the mat and the two were rolling until they both rolled out of the ring. With the referee distracted by the brawl outside the ring, Humperdink slid a foreign object to Rude. Rude caught Haynes in the midsection with weapon and then hit the Rude Awakening for the win!
Bill Eadie and Rick Rude defeated Roddy Piper and Billy Jack Haynes when Rude pinned Haynes with the Rude Awakening in 0:28:05. Rating: **** 1/4 [Sir Oliver Humperdink interfered against Billy Jack Haynes.]
The House of Humperdink pick up an important win over their rivals. With Rude having pinned Haynes he's earned himself a shot at the West Coast Champion! Rude may have used underhanded tactics to win but he pinned the Champion's shoulders to the mat. In November, Haynes defends the West Coast title against Rick Rude! As for Piper and Eadie, their feud continues to escalate. Next month they'll attempt to end the war in a San Francisco Street Fight.
9. WWA Heavyweight Title Match "Soulman" Rocky Johnson vs. WWA Heavyweight Champion Terry Funk
Rocky Johnson has waited a long time to get this match. He main evented WWA's very first event back in February against Terry Funk, a match Funk won via countout. The two met up again in March in the tournament for the Heavyweight Title. Johnson came into the match with a tweaked knee and Funk picked up the win using Johnson's injury against him. From that point, Johnson struggled to get back on top and earlier this month he earned the Top Contenders spot. Ron Bass accompanied Terry Funk to the ring all the while talking trash to the fans. He even got into a shouting match with Rocky Johnson before being forced to leave ringside. This was looking like Johnson's night as he had Terry Funk in a number of compromising positions. Funk is the Heavyweight Champion because he's a very smart and savvy wrestler, but he's also shown us he has tremendous luck. Just when it appeared that Johnson was headed to victory, Funk made a desperation move. Johnson was pulled Funk up off the mat with intentions to land the Johnson Shuffle but Funk grabbed a handful of tights and used his leverage to pull Johnson through the ropes and headfirst into the ring post! As Johnson staggered back into the ring nearly unconscious Funk stuffed him and gave him a Piledriver to pick up the win!
Terry Funk pinned Rocky Johnson with a Piledriver in 0:18:56. Rating: *** 1/2 (Terry Funk retained the WWA Heavyweight Title.)
The fans were not happy about Funk's victory but they were even more livid when Ron Bass came back to ringside. Bass rolled in the ring, ripped the WWA Heavyweight title from Dean Ross's hands and presented it to Funk himself. Johnson started stirring on the mat regaining consciousness. Bass noticed this and for seemingly no reason at all he jumped onto Johnson and started pummeling the Soulman. Dean Ross tried to pull him off but Funk Ross onto his backside. As Bass continued to lay punches in MAGNUM T.A. hit the ring. He tackled Bass off of Johnson and the two started brawling. Funk then joined in and a double team ensued. Magnum was defenseless against both men. That's when STEVE WILLIAMS stormed the ring! It didn't take long before Williams and Magnum were winning the brawl with Funk and Bass! The villains had no choice but to retreat! All four men have signed on to face each other in a tag team match in San Francisco which has just gone from a can't miss event to absolute must see!
Card Rating: **1/2

Tough draw on the no-show. Forces you to put a make-shift team over the team that will eventually get the push. Not a lot you could have done, but putting Butch in there makes sense to pay back the favor.
A win over Bob Armstrong has to be considered a huge step up for the Gang. You're right, that is the most impressive he has looked. Big things are in store for OMG.
Fun brawl to combine both feuds into one match next month. Putting the Fantastics with the Rockers is a brilliant idea. All four men will have the women in the crowd eating out of their hands.
I have no idea why, but I really like Ron Bass. Magnum, on the other hand, is the guy to run with. I still think he has one Heavyweight Title run in him before his accident.
A good competitive title defense for Santana and Guerrero. Can't wait to see how they do in the Grand 16. Don't think they are winning, but I bet they put on a good showing.
Armstrong losing in this fashion shows he still has a few more things to learn before he's considered a top contender. Still, the potential is clearly there. Don't know what your plan is for Roberts, but looking forward to him getting involved in some sort of feud.
Loved the match between Adams and Garvin. The ending was spectacular booking. Smart move by Adams. The hardly used "No Countout" match is a fine way to continue this feud. Maybe we'll get a DQ and we'll have another rematch with No DQ's or Countouts.
Heckuva match rating for those four. Probably the best match Haynes has ever been involved with. Rude going over Haynes was logical booking since this puts Haynes in his first defense and you don't really want Eadie or Piper taking a pinfall here.
Funk keeps using very clever ways to win his title matches. Loving it. The brawl at the end makes for an interesting tag team match. I'm thinking either Williams or TA goes over Funk to set up a future title shot. Can't wait to see who goes over.

Even though the Rockers are going much further than Butch or Pogo, I like that you're having HBK and Jannetty take their lumps. Getting to stardom isn't going to be easy. Great showing for OMG. Bullet Bob has a reputation a mile long, so a clean win, even if Bullet is in the twilight of his career, still means something. Wild brawl with Luke vs. Rogers, which I like. For Luke, it's not out of character. For Rogers, it adds depth to what he can do. And liked the addition of the other teams. 8-man tag will be a good showcase for all. That's more or less the correct role for Bass. He's a solid hand, a good brawler, and easy to dislike. Magnum keeps racking up wins. Have to figure he's title shot bound soon. Great showing for the tag champs going into Grand 16. Always nice to be on top of your game for such a big tournament. You're so good at playing to the subtle parts of wrestling. Things like Brad Armstrong more or less winning the match, but since he's a rookie, making the mistake of thinking he had the win when he didn't. Roberts needed that win more though, for sure. Hey, it may have been cheap, but Adams got his hand raised, didn't he? I love the build for his character. Plus, anytime Ronnie Garvin can lose, I'm thrilled. Why the hell hasn't Missy gotten her manager's license yet? That's just lazy on her part. And this match shows what happens when you get a good team or stable going up against two solid individuals. The team is almost always going to win. This match was not quite what I would call filler, but the matches everyone have been looking forward to is the singles matches next month. Like Josh said, I enjoy the ways Funk keeps retaining. He could end up having a multi-year reign at this point. Looks like you're setting up Magnum to be the next challenger, which I can't say I have a problem with. That match would be off the charts.

You seem to have quite a tag-team division as well (as the other promotions in this universe). Four solid teams just below the champions. I would probably have preferred it if the Rockers was the final team to hit the ring, and the faces to stand victorious.
Tag champs need to look strong going up in the Grand Prix 16.
Rookie mistake by Brad, but you are building him well.
House of Humperdink picks up the win, and Rude gets his title shot. I still think Missy Hyatt will betray Haynes at some point.
Lots of guys involved in the main event scene, but I don't quite see anyone de-throning Funk. Unless you want to go for Dr. Death, that is.

WWA - November 23, 1985 from The Cow Palace in San Francisco, CA
1. The Ninja Express (w/Gary Hart) & The Sheepherders vs. The Fantastics & The Midnight Rockers
Pro wrestling action returns to the Cow Palace and we had a wild one to kick things off. Referee Eddie Gersh had a tall task in keeping this 8-Man Tag Team Match under control. The unpredictable team of The Ninja Express & The Sheepherders are tough enough to keep in line on their own but throw in the hasty Midnight Rockers and the hot tempers of The Fantastics and you have yourself an explosive match from the start. The fan favorites started strong, but the villains were able to slow their momentum by singling out Marty Jannetty. Despite their best efforts to put him away, Jannetty was able to make the hot tag to his partner Shawn Michaels. Michaels struck like lightning with punches and dropkicks targeting the Ninja Express. After a flying back elbow on Mr. Pogo, the Sheepherders broke up the pin attempt. Wasting no time The Fantastics entered the ring and attacked The Sheepherders. Both teams brawled to the floor. This gave The Midnight Rockers the opportunity to show off their new finisher The Rocker-Plex to pick up the win!
The Fantastics (Bobby Fulton and Tommy Rogers) and The Midnight Rockers (Marty Jannetty and Shawn Michaels) defeated The Ninja Express (Kendo Nagasaki and Mr. Pogo) and The Sheepherders (Sheepherder Butch and Sheepherder Luke) when Jannetty pinned Mr. Pogo after The Rocker-Plex in 0:13:18. Rating: **
The match was over but the The Fantastics and The Sheepherders continued to brawl up the aisle and into the locker room area. Later in the evening we found out that this match had some big implications because next month in Los Angeles The Midnight Rockers will face The Sheepherders in a Top Contenders match! But not only that, when the WWA returns to the Cow Palace on January 18 for our first card of 1986, The Fantastics and The Sheepherders will collide in a STEEL CAGE MATCH!
2. Jake "The Snake" Roberts vs. Terry Taylor
Terry Taylor's WWA debut match was a tough against the cynical Jake Roberts. Taylor outwrestled Roberts, utilizing tremendous mat wrestling to keep Roberts grounded. When Roberts couldn't get his way he rolled out of the ring as he usually does to try to slow the match down. But the fans really took to Taylor when he rolled out of the ring and continued the fight! In the closing moments of the match Taylor came off the ropes with a head of steam and took Roberts down with a high cross body. But Roberts rolled through and with a handful of tights pinned Taylor's shoulders to the mat.
Jake Roberts pinned Terry Taylor after a schoolboy cradle in 0:08:54. Rating: * 1/2
The fans and Taylor tried to inform the referee of Roberts' cheating but he hadn't seen anything and the decision was final. It wasn't a win but Taylor's debut should still be considered a success. He'll be back to fight again and the fans will be more than happy to support him!
3. One Man Gang (w/Gary Hart) vs. Brad Armstrong
Brad Armstrong is still learning his craft. It's no secret that his biggest inspiration is his father, "Bullet" Bob. Last month he watched as dad was overwhelmed and defeated by One Man Gang. Brad immediately issued a challenge to even the score. Brad tried to stick and move but Gang is quicker than he looks and he was able to ground Brad early. Gang used his massive size advantage to bully Brad throughout the match, but Brad is resilient. The kid doesn't stay down for long and he eventually started firing back. After stunning the Gang with hard right hands, Brad sent the big man staggering with a dropkick. Gang stumbled backwards into the ropes getting his arms tied up! The crowd roared as it looked like Brad was on his way to scoring the upset. But then The Ninja Express hit the ring…
Brad Armstrong defeated One Man Gang by disqualification in 0:05:58. Rating: * [Kendo Nagasaki interfered against Brad Armstrong.]
Kendo Nagasaki dropped Brad to the mat with an attack from behind and Mr. Pogo continued the assault with stomps. "BULLET" BOB ARMSTRONG hit the ring to protect his son. He landed a number of strikes on the Ninjas before Brad recovered and joined the fight. It wasn't long before the Armstrongs had cleared the Ninjas from the ring. But One Man Gang was still tangled up! The Armstrongs took advantage and the crowd erupted as they laid into the Gang until Gang's arms came lose and he too retreated.
4. No Countout Match "Gentleman" Chris Adams vs. "Hands of Stone" Ron Garvin
Last month Garvin was counted out during a match with Adams after Adams illegally hit him below the belt outside of the ring. Adams calls himself a "gentleman" but as we've seen in this rivalry he'll throw respect and sportsmanship right out the window to get ahead. When the bell rang Adams apologetically put his hand out to ask forgiveness. But Garvin shoved him on his ass and encouraged him to put up his fists and fight. From that point on Adams spent the match trying to keep Garvin grounded while avoiding his strikes. The match eventually spilled outside of the ring. After getting some seperation Adams connected with his Superkick knocking Garvin out cold! Instinctively Adams rolled into the ring thinking he could win by countout but Dean Ross reminded him of the stipulation. The frustrated Adams rolled back out and used every bit of strength he had left to roll Garvin's unconscious body back into the ring. Garvin was starting to get his wits together and when Adams went towards him he threw a desperation right hook that put Adams' lights out! Garvin fell on top of Adams to score the pinfall!
[No-Countout-Match] Ron Garvin pinned Chris Adams with the Hands of Stone Punch in 0:10:21. Rating: * 3/4
Garvin showed once again just how lethal his hands can be. Adams was seeing stars for most of the night but when he gained his bearings he made it clear he wanted a rematch. He felt Garvin's win tonight was a fluke. He says he knows for a fact he's a better wrestler than Garvin and issued a challenge for a rematch with Gentleman's Rules. Garvin won't back away from any challenge and accepted without hesitation.
5. WWA West Coast Championship Match "Ravishing" Rick Rude (w/Sir Oliver Humperdink) vs. WWA West Coast Champion Billy Jack Haynes
The hatred between these two men is well documented already. Even before the West Coast title was in the picture these guys were at each other's throats and it all started because Missy Hyatt rejected Rick Rude's advances and supported Billy Jack Haynes. Missy then served as a valet for Billy Jack, which also served as quite the distraction to Rude. Rude's defense was hiring Sir Oliver Humperdink who immediately pointed out the fact that Missy had no managerial license to be at ringside, thus elimlnating the distraction.
Billy Jack and Rude are equally matched, but with Humperdink now guiding Rude many feel he has the upper hand. Last month Rude scored a pinfall over Haynes so there's no doubt Rude can beat him. And tonight Rude was determined to do it again. However, just before the bell rang MISSY HYATT came to ringside. Rude and Humperdink once again informed the referee that she had no business at ringside. But Missy handed the referee a card which turned out to be an official manager's license! Now with Missy at ringside, Rude's gameplan was really thrown off. This match was incredible but Rude was heavily distracted by Missy's presence. Humperdink did the best he could to keep Rude focused throughout but when it was looking bleak, Humperdink felt Rude needed some assistance. In an attempt to assist Rude, Humperdink hopped on the ring apron. Missy then ran over, pulled Humperdink off the apron, and slapped him across the face! Humperdink went down and Rude looked dumbfounded. He also had his back turned to Billy Jack who promptly locked in the Full Nelson for the win!
Billy Jack Haynes made Rick Rude submit to the Full Nelson in 0:15:33. Rating: **** 1/2 (Billy Jack Haynes retained the WWA West Coast Title.) [Missy Hyatt interfered against Rick Rude.]
Missy celebrated in the ring with Billy Jack as Rude and Humperdink helped each other to the dressing room. Haynes has improved in every match and with Missy Hyatt officially by his side he looks to be in for a lengthy reign as West Coast Champion.
6. WWA Tag Team Championship Match "Playboy" Buddy Rose & "Hustler" Rip Rogers vs. WWA Tag Team Champions Hector Guerrero & Tito Santana
Guerrero & Santana aren't just one of the most popular tag teams in WWA, but quite possibly one of the most popular in the world right now. Recently they've been getting a lot of recognition by defending the WWA Tag Team Championship against any team, any where, including GCW. Their opponents tonight, the Playboy and the Hustler, were quite successful as a team a few years back in the Portland area. They definitely have the resume to be formidable challengers and they gave the WWA Tag Team Champions a run for their money. But in the end, Guerrero and Santana continued their winning ways when Guerrero pinned Rose with his patented Butterfly Suplex.
Hector Guerrero and Tito Santana defeated Buddy Rose and Rip Rogers when H. Guerrero pinned B. Rose with the Butterfly Suplex in 0:25:12. Rating: *** 1/2 (Hector Guerrero and Tito Santana retained the WWA Tag Team Titles.)
The Champions clearly have targets on their backs as every tag team in pro wrestling seems to be gunning for them. They're already signed to defend their belts next month in LA against the Hart Foundation.
7. San Francisco Street Fight Bill "The Ax" Eadie vs. "Rowdy" Roddy Piper
It had to come to this. The feud between Eadie and Piper began with violence and it will end in violence. In a San Francisco Street Fight, both men come dressed as they want, no holds barred, and if it isn't nailed down they can use it! Sir Oliver accompanied Eadie to ringside but after already being slapped across the face earlier in the night he stayed far, far away from the action. Both men wore jeans and had heavily taped fists that they used quite liberally. It wasn't long into the match before both men were bleeding from the face. Eadie had the heavier hands, though, and dished out some major punishment on Piper throughout the match. But as long as Piper was still swinging he was still in the fight. Eadie brought the ring bell into the match thinking he would use it to his advantage but when he wound up, Piper kicked him in the gut and bulldogged him right onto it!
[San Francisco Street Fight] Roddy Piper pinned Bill Eadie after a bulldog in 0:18:06. Rating: ** 1/2 [Sir Oliver Humperdink interfered against Roddy Piper.]
Bloody and bruised, Piper stood victorious and Humperdink did the best he could to drag Eadie out of the ring. Eadie will certainly be back to fight another day but as for Piper, with his feud with Eadie behind him, has his sights set on someone else. Piper waved for Ken Resnick to come into the ring as he had something to say. Resnick held the microphone for Piper who, wearing the crimson mask, said he wants the WWA Heavyweight Championship. He warned Terry Funk that he's got his eye on him and that he is coming for the title.
8. Terry Funk & "Outlaw" Ron Bass vs. Magnum T.A. & "Dr. Death" Steve Williams
It was unclear if Funk heard Piper's comments before his match but he would find out about it before the night was over. He and Bass would have their hands full in tonight's main event. Steve Williams has been tailing Funk and the WWA Heavyweight Championship ever since Dr. Death set foot in a WWA ring. And Magnum TA, a guy who has all the potential in the world to be a major star, is not just looking to take out his foe, the Outlaw, but to send a message to Funk as well. Everyone had something to prove in this match and Funk & Bass were determined to come out on top. When the match started to slip away from them Funk went for his trusty branding iron. Magnum had Bass reeling in the ring when Funk snuck up behind him and measured him. As he began swinging the branding iron, RODDY PIPER slid in the ring, wearing a bloody gause on his head, and pulled the branding iron from him! He nailed Funk in the midsection with it and Funk tumbled out of the ring. Magnum turned and saw Piper standing there with the branding iron. Magnum started questioning Piper and Piper, with the temper he's got, was in no mood to hear lip from Magnum. Piper dropped the branding iron and left the ring but not before leaving a stern message for Magnum. Piper never took his eyes off Magnum until Magnum turned and hit his Belly-to-Belly Suplex on Bass!
Steve Williams and Magnum T.A. defeated Ron Bass and Terry Funk when Magnum pinned Ron Bass with the Belly-to-Belly Suplex in 0:26:54. Rating: ****
Magnum & Williams pick up a big win here in the main event but there is definitely a story to be told as to what went down between Magnum and Piper. Not to mention Piper is gunning for a shot at Terry Funk for the WWA Heavyweight Championship. Those two already have a storied past and I'm sure there is unfinished business. Things are heating up in the WWA!

Can't even imagine how hot the crowd would have been for a eight man tag with the Rockers and the Fantastics on one side. Don't know if Jannetty and Michaels are quite ready to step into the number one contenders role, but we'll see. Not sure how quickly you will push them to the top.
Happy that Terry Taylor is back in action. He deserves to be showcased right now in his prime. Wonder if we'll ever see the Red Rooster or if someone else will play that role?
Nothing greater than a fat man getting tangled up in the ropes. I think Brad Armstrong is close to stepping out of his father's shadow. May not happen until he leaves the area though.
I love the ending to the Garvin/Adams match. Adams had the match won, but took far too much time in capitalizing. Great stuff.
For some reason I keep expecting Missy to turn on Billy Jack, but that may not be the route you are going. It's hard to think of her as a good girl when we all know the "lady" she becomes.
Big fan of Buddy Rose and Rip Rogers. And Santana/Guerrero are doing a good job of crossing over promotions. They are going to come out of this far bigger stars.
Can't wait to see if the Piper/Funk feud is renewed here in the WWA. It'll be interesting since in the NWF it was Piper that was champion while Funk was chasing him. The heel/face roles will be reversed as well.
Friction between two top faces is always going to provide the entertainment. Glad to see Magnum didn't appreciate Piper's interference. Don't know which route you'll go for Funk's next big title defense, but you can't lose with those two as options.
Love seeing the WWA back in action!

We're back with some WWA! Holy!
Hot tag match to kick off the night. It's nice to see the Sheepherders still getting showcased as what they were before they inevitably become the Bushwhackers. The development of the Rockers has been nice too. Not sure if they're becoming #1 contenders yet, but a match with Tito/Hector would be awesome.
Good debut for Taylor. Sadly, I think this is the role he will always be. Kind of bums me out. He's one of those guys I really want to see break out in this universe, but not sure if it's going to be in the cards.
Fun segment with the Armstrongs. Brad is getting a nice build too. Unlike Taylor, he's someone I can actually see really breaking through. Maybe not World champion, but a good secondary title reign easily. Gang is still always awesome. I hope he gets a little more to do.
I have made no secrets that I don't care for Garvin, but you've gotten his fists over big time. And Adams is going to be awesome. It's like Regal a decade early.
If that is the end of the Haynes/Rude feud, I'm content with that. It told a really good story, and Hyatt getting her manager's license and slapping Humperdink is great stuff. Now we just wait and see how long it is before she turns on Haynes. Great match.
Another good win for the champs. Looking forward to the match with the Hart Foundation. Hoping they do GCW proud.
Great fight with Piper and Eadie. These type of matches are always hard to write, because although a lot of it was surely just punch/kick, the drama of a bloody fight is almost always awesome. Right man went over, and Funk/Piper is going to be great stuff.
Good main event. Only downside was that Steve Williams, who had been on fire, was kind of an afterthought. Not a huge deal, as a lot went down. Tension between Piper and Magnum, which should lead to a good match later. And Funk has a lot of challengers lining up. I don't know how much longer he can hold onto this belt with the caliber of competitor gunning for him.
Glad to get you back in the swing!

Good to see WWA back from the Cow Palace!
Hot opener, and now they will end the feud in the cage!
Roberts with the important win, but Taylor had a good showing in his first match.
Ha, stupid OMG who gets stuck in the ropes. You have built the Armstrongs quite nicely with this feud, even though they often come out on the losing end.
I really don't understand how some wrestlers can have a punch as a finisher - while at the same time closed fist punches are illegal. Why don't you have a low blow as a finisher, then? I don't know if WWA has banned closed fists though, I'm talking more wrestling in general (Big Show, Mark Jindrak etc).
Cool angle with Missy getting her manager's license! Excellent match too.
Impressive of Playboy and Hustler (really?) to keep the champs going for so long, but Santana and Guerrero are fighting champs!
Piper wins!
Good win for Magnum and Williams. I really hope Magnum can get his career going in WWA. Wonder if Magnum and Piper will clear the air, or fight it out!

My apologies all around, this should have gone up before GCW's most recent Superstars taping. Let's just consider you set your VCR to record this historic tv debut and you're watching it later.

December 13, 1985 – WWA Prime Time Wrestling (Taped December 10, 1985 at Studio 2 in San Francisco, CA)
WELCOME TO PRIME TIME WRESTLING!
Commentators Ken Resnick and Tony Shiavone are sitting at a desk in front of a colorful WWA sign as they introduce the fans to Prime Time Wrestling. They make this evening’s first announcement with excitement in their voices! Just a couple of weeks ago “Rowdy” Roddy Piper defeated “The Ax” Bill Eadie in a brutal and bloody San Francisco Street Fight. In doing so he has been named the #1 Contender for the Heavyweight Championship and will get his chance to challenge Terry Funk for the belt on December 21st in Los Angeles. Earlier in the week Ken Resnick visited the Double Cross Ranch to get words from the Champion…
INSIDE THE DOUBLE CROSS RANCH
A pickup truck is barreling down a dirt road towards the camera. Ken Resnick attempts to shield his face from the dust and debris as the pickup comes to an abrupt stop near him. Terry Funk is already hollering as he steps out of the truck. When Resnick finally gets a chance to speak he asks Funk about his upcoming title defense against Roddy Piper. Funk shouts that Resnick is trespassing and in Texas, he can treat a trespasser like any kind of varmint he wants. He says in L.A., he’ll treat Piper like the varmint he is. He says he’s going to chew Piper up and spit him out because he’s a Texan. He’s meaner than a rattlesnake, tougher than shoe leather, more dangerous than a hollow-eyed scorpion, middle aged and crazy! MIDDLE AGED AND CRAZY!
MATCH #1 The Midnight Rockers vs. Chico Cabello & Perry Jackson
Back at the studio Shiavone and Resnick discuss Funk’s interview while the Midnight Rockers head to the ring for our first match. Schiavone commends Resnick for visiting the Double Cross Ranch to get those candid and confident comments from Funk. Resnick says it was quite the experience and hopefully something he won’t have to do again anytime soon. In the ring, Shawn Michaels and Marty Jannetty make use of quick tags and array of quick double team moves before putting young Chico Cabello down with their finisher.
The Midnight Rockers (Marty Jannetty and Shawn Michaels) defeated Chico Cabello & Perry Jackson when Jannetty pinning Cabello with The Rocker-plex in 0:02:45. Rating: * 1/4
Schiavone puts over how impressive the Rockers are while we see a super slow motion replay of The Rocker-plex. Ken Resnick joins the duo at ringside to get words on their upcoming #1 Contenders match against The Sheepherders. Jannetty says since forming the Midnight Rockers their goal has always been to become the WWA Tag Team Champions. In Los Angeles, they intend to take down The Sheepherders and get one step closer to realizing that goal. Michaels chimed in saying he and Jannetty like loud music and partying all night but they also like to fight. He says they know they’re in for a good fight against The Sheepherders on December 21st but it’s all said and done they’ll continue rocking and rolling all the way to the Tag Team Championship.
MATCH #2 Jake Roberts vs. “Bullet” Bob Armstrong
The cold and calculating Jake “The Snake” took on veteran and fan favorite “Bullet” Bob in our next match. At our recent event at the Cow Palace, Bullet gave his son Brad a hand in dishing out some punishment to the members of Gary Hart International. Gary Hart didn’t appreciate it one bit and when he came to ringside during this match he made sure Bullet knew about it. In the closing moments as Bullet was bumping Jake around the ring Gary Hart grabbed his ankle slowing his momentum. Bullet turned his attention to Hart for just a second too long as it gave Jake an opportunity to regain his composure, spin Bullet Bob around and plant him with the DDT.
Jake Roberts defeated Bob Armstrong with the DDT in 0:08:15. Rating: ** 1/2
Gary Hart wasted no time grabbing the house mic from Ken Resnick to verbally berate Bullet Bob. He wanted to make sure Bullet knew that he and his son Brad would get just what they deserved from Gary Hart International. He then issued a challenge to Brad Armstrong to step in the ring with one of the Ninja Express in Los Angeles on the 21st. Knowing Brad he’ll accept that challenge in a heartbeat. MATCH #3 Terry Taylor vs. Tim Shepard
Taylor made his WWA debut at the Cow Palace, however he was unsuccessful in defeating Jake Roberts on that night. On the other hand he gained a lot of new fans! They were in full force tonight cheering on Taylor as he won convincingly here on Prime Time Wrestling.
Terry Taylor defeated Tim Shepard after a lariat in 0:02:34. Rating: ¼*
A good win and a good showcase for Taylor. The man has some serious wrestling skills that he will put on display as he tries to climb the ladder in WWA.
MATCH #4 King Tonga (w/”The Crippler” Ray Stevens) vs. Jerry Monte
Tonga has become quite a vicious wrestler under the tutelage of Stevens. That fact was very apparent by his choice of offense tonight as he dismantled Monte. When the match was over no one in the building was more pleased than Stevens.
King Tonga defeated Jerry Monte via pinfall in 0:01:12. Rating: ½*
Ray Stevens and Tonga walked over to the desk where Ken Resnick stood with a microphone. The crowd boo’ed as Stevens ranted and raved about King Tonga. He pointed out that as a King, Tonga should have gold around his waist. He said Tonga wants the West Coast Championship and he wants it December 21; that is if Billy Jack Haynes has the guts. Haynes then appears on the set with the West Coast Championship around his waist and Missy Hyatt on his arm. The fans cheer him as he tells Stevens he’ll step in the ring with anyone, anytime, including Tonga and he accepts the challenge. He then turns the tables on Stevens and says that if Stevens has any guts, he’ll get in the ring with him next week on tv! Stevens contemplates for a bit before telling Haynes he has no problem softening him up for his match with Tonga on the 21st.
ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR NEXT WEEK
After a break, Shiavone confirms that next week right here on Prime Time Wrestling, Billy Jack Haynes goes one-on-one with Ray Stevens in a non-title match. Also on the show will be a special PIPER'S PIT with host Roddy Piper and his guest… Magnum T.A.!
MATCH #5 “Outlaw” Ron Bass vs. S.D. Jones
It’s time for our main event! Ron Bass could quite possibly be the most bitter and angry wrestler alive. It’s a wonder that he’s even remained an ally of Heavyweight Champion Terry Funk. No question though, he’s tough. And when he wants to dish out some punishment, he’ll dish it out and then some. Special Delivery Jones never really had an advantage in this one except for a few desperation roll up attempts.
Ron Bass defeated S.D. Jones with the Gourdbuster in 0:06:21. Rating: *
After his victory, Bass stomped his way over to the stage and started shouting about Magnum TA. He warned Magnum that things were far from over between them. As he continued shouting he noticed Jones getting to his feet. Bass rushed into the ring and started pummeling Jones more! This brought out Magnum TA who obviously heard Bass’s comments. The two were throwing wild haymakers at one another until Bass stumbled through the ropes just as staff came to ringside to break things up.
Next week on Prime Time Wrestling, Roddy Piper’s guest on Piper’s Pit will be Magnum TA! We’ll also see Billy Jack Haynes in non-title action against Rey Stevens. We’ll also get comments from “Gentleman” Chris Adams and the WWA Tag Team Champions, Tito Santana & Hector Guerrero. Tune in next time!

Great little vignette for Funk to start. He's so unpredictable, which helps make him a great champion.
I still think the Rockers are too young to become top contenders for the tag titles, but this will be a great opportunity for them to showcase how good they are. They'll make the Sheepherders look like a million bucks.
Don't like Roberts needing help to beat Bullet Bob, but with Bob being a veteran, I can imagine he would demand it. Either way, we get ourselves another match for LA.
Taylor is a guy who I really want to see succeed. I just don't know if he's going to do it in this Universe. WWA would be a good start for him proving me wrong.
Tonga, however, I believe will be even a bigger star in this universe. Excited to see him take on Haynes. I don't think he'll win the title, but every match helps him get going. Stevens next week on TV will still be a fun match.
Wild main event; well, ending, anyway. I'm not huge on Bass, but he's effective in a fight.
