If I remember correctly and I think I'm going back 1-2 years or maybe longer... Whom ever is behind the TNM UK site talked about wanting to get it redone since it was originally created with an old program etc.
Is this still an interest of yours ? If so, could you possibly zip your current site and toss it up on a file host ? I'm not going to say I promise anything but I'll have a look and sometimes it's easier to start with a base than from scratch even though glancing at the source code of the site I get the feeling that it's going to need a complete tear down...

Update - So I was just brainstorming with random ideas while looking at the TNM UK site and I thought to myself "I got this kick ass concept idea for the site, it would look bitchin" ... So before I even got any of the files I created a mock up of the site that I see in my head and I viewed it in my browser then I thought... SHIT, this isn't going to work... the concept is a cool concept it really makes the site stand out and it really makes it POP and the site is called TNM UK and it reps the UK even bigger and better than before... The problem is ... Well I guess too much white... Instead of trying to explain it I decided to upload the mock up I had.. like I said it's just getting the basic concept down but my idea isn't really working unless you have ideas, the first idea I had was turn the text to black... Great idea don't get me wrong however when your not viewing online version of the site the background I have set is black as you only see the video background (yes it actually is a video.. mp4 format) when the site is live so it will never affect you updating the site... I guess I could always turn the background white and the text black... But here's the mockup idea I had like I said: kwoaoa.xyz/TNMUK/Kinda bad ass don't ya think ?... Or is it too much ?

If I had smoked a ton of weed, I'd get a kick out of that background video but sober I'd click away from the site in 0.0001 seconds ;-)
Can't decide if it's hypnotizing me or giving me fits :-D

See I thought it was a badass idea .. I get it that it looks pixelated but due to constraints from the webhost that TNM UK uses I had to optimize the video for those settings.
But I get what you mean.. the concept looked cool in my head, I doubt I'll actually do the site though it's no doubt best left for whoever behind it to keep doing it the way they are as it's easiest for them to keep that updated.
Thanks for your feedback.

I didn't mean to discourage you or anything :-) And it's not about the video looking pixelated. It's more of a philosophical question. Does form follow function or function follow form? I've always been more in the "form follows function" camp where the primary goal is to give people something useful over something looking particularly innovative. With the video in the background, I would worry about a few things: - The readability. It doesn't matter what font color you use or what video is playing in the background: motion reduces readability. - How it affects users with epilepsy, as well as various visual impairments. - How the site is going to look for people whose browsers don't support these types of videos OR who have JavaScript turned off (40 percent of all visitors to TNM7.com, for instance). This is how the site looks for me with my default browser settings:

The screenshot keeps showing up, then not showing up. If it doesn't show up for you, click the "Quote" button above the post.

I'm also with the form follows function camp, if you look at the main part of the site (basically the link in my signature) the site is very very basic. But the concept works because it's easy to read and it just works.
- As for the TNM UK site I did, I can see how the video can be distratcting as I played around with the text colors for a bunch.. I even had a table over top of it so that it would be that much easier in order to read but the background being constantly moving always caught my eye.
- Never thought about the epilepsy folks. But I thought that only got trigged by flashing but I'm not 100% knowledgable on the concept about it.
- The video uses zero javascript, it's actually pure html coding (HTML 5 to be honest)
Yeah your screenshot isnt' showing up for me... but I did do the quote thing as you mentioned just to get the link that you posted and I see you got your script block on.
Which also explains why I quit using a counter on my site, cause they very seldom get an accurate read.
You didn't discourage me in your feedback. but I haven't heard back from whomever runs the TNM UK site. As my original post was asking for the files they use. I also had a few other questions to ask them such as what OS they use and what program they used to create the site, but looking deeper at the source code I seen that they use an old version of Frontpage.. I think it was Frontpage XP that they use which tells me one of two things.. . 1) they are still using XP on the machine or 2)they are running on MAC and they are running a virtual machine. Which says to me if that's the case then me creating the site for them with Expressions Web 4 may not be a good thing as it may not run on XP and I know from experience that trying to input coding into Frontpage at times Frontpage can add it's own coding to it which could ultimately screw things up and cause view errors.

Hi, really appreciate you taking a look at this. I originally built the site using Frontpage, then moved to Kompozer when I switched to a Mac. I'm back on a Windows PC now and installed Frontpage again to update my site as I find it so easy to use.
I'd love for the site to get an overhaul (or at least give it a usable search function) but I really don't have the free time these days.

kingofoldschoolNot a problem about taking a look at the site, may I make a suggestion to you ? Now looking at the code briefly I see some bits that tell me that you know web design.. As in the coding half Scrap Frontpage and use Expressions Web 4 it's 100% free and not to give a history of things but Frontpage later turned to Expressions Web then they made EW4 freeware and later abandoned www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/microsoft_expression_web.htmlIf you want to hook me up with the basefiles as I initially asked I can look into seeing what I can do minus the video background... I don't need all the exports just the html files & graphics but if it's easier just to send me everything then that's fine too.. Just upload it to a free file hosting site and either post the link or PM it to me. I'm not promising anything but I will gladly look at it and see what I can do for you.
