WCW Main Event 3/15/92 Atlanta, GA: Center Stage Theatre Your host is Tony Schiavone - Nice win for Taylor and Smothers. They need a feud or something. Too good to not have anything to do except beat jobbers. - You know what's awesome about WCW in '92? Eaton and Anderson would probably have DESTROYED The Diamond Mine. - Oooooh...potential heel turn for Hammer? - Vinnie Vegas gets a title shot, or we riot! - Hm...tension with Race and Luger. Very interesting. - Mark Kyle didn't no-sell Morton? - Ouch. Thanks for coming, Thurman. - Dusty Finish! Kinda! Steiners vs Larry Z/Rude?

Does TNM SE allow you to rebook a match if a guy no-shows? I turned off no shows in TNM FE because while no-shows are realistic, having the match booked the exact same way is not. I had the option of replacing Lex Luger with himself, but I feel like that kind of takes away from the fun of what I'm trying to do. I book to the extreme, but I do like to stick with what TNM gives me in regards to no-shows, hiring, firing, and quitting. But I do agree that the match shouldn't end in the same way. If I had booked Luger to submit to the Scorpion Deathlock, and he no-shows and I replace him with the Undertaker, I doubt the Undertaker would be submitting any time soon. At least not in 1992. But that's easy to edit if need be before posting. That's also where the 'c' button comes in handy after the booked result.

Nobody likes them. - Mark Kyle isn't Mike Droese! -Look up Joe Thurman. This actually happened. - Do you not like the Steiners vs Zbyszko and Rude? I think this is a pretty good way to continue some feuds without a supercard as a deciding factor.

- What?! I was asking for a Vinnie title shot!
- Yeah, I know the Joe Thurman bit happened.
- Nope, Steiners vs Rude/Larry Z is fine. Although, it better not be a tag title match, or Eaton and Anderson should be annoyed...=)

Vinnie doesn't deserve a title shot! Silly, Tommy.
I figured somebody had to know, but nobody brought it up. I had to bring up the Thurman bit to somebody.
And the tag match is for the titles. It makes sense since Rude did defend his US Title against the Steiners.

He's in the rankings!
So...two guys who don't really team together are getting a shot while the team that beat the Steiners right before they won the belts, and the team that they won them from but haven't gotten a rematch are arguing over who should be getting a title match? =)

WCW Saturday Night 3/21/92 Atlanta, GA: Center Stage Theatre Your hosts are Jim Ross and Dusty Rhodes
Jim Ross welcomed everybody to this edition of WCW Saturday Night. Ross said that in the main event World Heavyweight Champion Sting will be teaming with Barry Windham to do battle with the United States Champion, Rick Rude and Cactus Jack. Dusty Rhodes said he was looking forward to seeing Sting get his hands on Cactus Jack and make him pay for what he did to him last week. Ross then ran down the rest of the card saying that the Television Title would be defended in our opening bout. With all of that covered, we headed to the ring for Steve Austin defending his TV Title.
Steve Austin pinned Brad Armstrong with the Stun Gun in 0:07:06. Rating: ** 3/4 (Steve Austin retained the Television Title.)
During the match Dustin Rhodes cut an insert promo saying that he wasn’t done with Steve Austin just yet, and he wouldn’t be until he had the gold that is around Austin’s waist. Rhodes said that Austin is just like the cow turds that he use to step in back at the farm, and he planned on scraping him off the bottom of his boot soon.
Back in the ring Brad Armstrong put up quite a bit of fight, but it wasn’t meant to be as Steve Austin was just too good. The Stun Gun finally put an end to the match. Austin and Paul E. Dangerously celebrated after the match, and Ross said we will have to wait to see what Austin says about Rhodes’ challenge and what the WCW Championship Committee says as well.
Ross then sent it back to the ring where a rematch from last week between Marcus Alexander Bagwell and “Dirty” Dick Slater was going to take place. Ross said that Slater had taken things a bit too far last week as he was disqualified for not releasing Bagwell from the corner. Rhodes said that Slater has always been one to break the rules, and he hoped Bagwell knew what he had gotten himself into signing up for a rematch.
Marcus Alexander Bagwell pinned Dick Slater after a reverse cradle in 0:06:53. Rating: ** 1/4
Dick Slater did a really good job of controlling this match and just rubbing Marcus Bagwell’s face into the mat. Bagwell showed quite a bit of fortitude by not backing down from the veteran, but it looked like he was a little bit out of his league. Things changed out of nowhere, however, when Slater whipped Bagwell in to the turnbuckles and went to charge in. Bagwell still had plenty in the tank, though, as he moved out of the way. Slater rammed himself chest first in to the buckles, Bagwell grabbed him from behind and brought him back in a reverse cradle. Slater was totally caught off guard and couldn’t get his shoulders up before the three count.
Bagwell picked up a huge upset victory, and he literally seemed happy afterwards as he pumped his fist while the referee raised his other hand. Things didn’t end on a good note for Bagwell, however. Slater doesn’t take losses well, and he had taken the time Bagwell celebrated to untie his boot and take it off his foot. Bagwell turned around only to get nailed between the eyes with the toes of the cowboy boot. Bagwell fell like a sack of bricks while Slater started to kick at the fallen youngster. Col. Robert Parker got in the ring pretty quickly and started to argue with the referee, but the ref apparently said something along the way of a fine as Parker got control of his man. Parker raised Slater’s hand, and they headed to the back while the ref checked up Bagwell. Marcus might have scored a victory, but he definitely didn’t look the victor after Slater was done with him.
Jim Ross then said that we had some footage of last week’s Main Event where Big Van Vader broke the back of a youngster named Joe Thurman. Ross said that Thurman’s back had been broken, and it was still unsure if he’d ever be able to walk again. Dusty Rhodes said what a pity it was that Vader thought it necessary to punish these young wrestlers way beyond what is needed for a pinfall. Rhodes said that Vader would one day meet somebody a little bit tougher than him, and Vader might just be in for a little bit of his own medicine. Ross asked Rhodes what he thought about Race saying it was Dusty’s fault, but Dusty just said that Race and Vader are responsible for their own actions, and he isn’t one bit sorry that he might have put them in a bit of a foul mood recently. With that Ross sent it to the ring where Vader would be in action, and Rhodes said he’d be keeping an eye out to guarantee nobody else was permanently put on the shelf.
Big Van Vader pinned Jim Nash with the Vader Bomb in 0:02:59. Rating: **
Big Van Vader, as usual, had no problems with his opponent here tonight. Nash ate the Vader Bomb pretty fast and that was it. However, after the match Harley Race got in the ring with a microphone. Race made it clear who he was talking to when he pointed at Dusty Rhodes behind the announcer’s table. Race said that Rhodes should thank him because every week Vader wants to go over there and destroy him. But it is him that stops Vader. Race said that it was not just because he does not want to see Rhodes bleed all over Jim Ross, because he wants that very badly. Race said that it was just that he wanted to be the man to do it. Race said he hates Rhodes more than any human being, and he knew the feeling was mutual. Race then said he wanted Rhodes to bleed, but he would be the one doing it and soon. Rhodes took all of this pretty serious at ringside, but he didn’t budge from his seat.
After Race and Vader left, Rhodes said he was not scared of anyone, and if Race wanted him a piece of this Texan that all Harley had to do was ask. Ross mentioned that Rhodes couldn’t get in the ring under his current WCW Commentator contract, and Rhodes said he would be talking to Mr. Frey soon.
Arn Anderson pinned Vinnie Vegas with the DDT in 0:08:07. Rating: ** 1/2
This was an interesting match where the fans just did not know who to cheer for. Anderson and Vegas were both accompanied by their tag team partners, Bobby Eaton and the Diamond Studd. And, of course, Paul E. Dangerously and Diamond Dallas Page were there as well. With so many bodies at ringside it was definitely a chore for referee Nick Patrick to keep things in order. This match was suppose to help determine who should be the number one contenders for the World Tag Team Titles held by the Steiner Brothers, and so Anderson and Vegas took this very seriously.
Both men went right at each other with their hard offense. Vegas is quite a bit bigger than Anderson, but Arn Anderson doesn’t back down from any one. Anderson soon realized that he probably did not want to brawl it out with the bigger man, however, and he started to really focus in on the knee and leg. On the outside Eaton and the Studd seemed to get in to quite a few arguments as did Paul E. with Page. Things in the ring kept going back and forth with neither man really getting much of an advantage. Anderson’s concentration of the leg, however, did have Vegas wobbly for quite a bit of the match. Things eventually broke a bit on the outside when Eaton pushed Studd in to Page. Studd and Page immediately looked like they were going to go on the attack, but Dangerously pushed his way in the middle. Nick Patrick was also distracted by all of this and went over to break it up. While Dangerously argued it out with the Studd and Page, Bobby Eaton ran around and entered the ring behind Vegas. Vegas had Anderson in the corner, but he never even saw Eaton come up from behind and chop block him! Vegas collapsed right in to Anderson who pulled him in to the center of the ring and dropped him with the DDT. With all the commotion in the ring Patrick finally turned around in time to count to three.
After the match the Dangerous Alliance celebrated their underhanded tactics that led to their victory while the Diamond Mine argued it out with the referee. It was pretty obvious that the Dangerous Alliance have the advantage in experience from tonight’s match.
Next up was the man that no-showed his World Heavyweight Title shot last week, Lex Luger. Ross said that Luger had been fined an undisclosed amount for his actions last week, and the WCW Championship Committee had taken away Luger’s automatic rematch since he apparently didn’t think it was important enough to show up for. Dusty Rhodes said that it takes a long time to get back to the top after you lose the Title, and Luger will be regretting what’s he’s done before long.
Lex Luger made Chad Bird submit to the Torture Rack in 0:03:35. Rating: **
Lex Luger cut an insert promo in a full blown suit. Luger said that he did regret missing his Title shot last week because gold does look good on him. But the fact is, he had more important matters to attend to. Luger followed that up by saying he was guaranteeing this match wouldn’t last longer than five minutes, because he had a plane to catch.
True to his word, Luger had his opponent submitting to the Torture Rack rather quickly. Without much fan fare he left the ring and headed to the back. Both Jim Ross and Dusty Rhodes made notice of the absence of Luger’s manager, Harley Race.
Ricky Steamboat pinned Rip Rogers with the Flying Cross Body Press in 0:05:35. Rating: ** 1/2
Ricky Steamboat picked up a much needed victory here tonight over Rip Rogers. What was interesting was what happened after the match. After the referee, Mike Droese, counted the three count he checked up on Rogers. Rogers eventually got his feet, but he was not too happy as he seemed to be complaining about a fast count. That is when things took a turn for the worse as Rogers slapped Droese across the face! Unfortunately for Rogers, this wasn’t Nick Patrick or Randy Anderson. This was Mike Droese, who has proven he can take a little punishment. Droese seemed a little taken aback by the slap, but he quickly shook it off before nailing Rogers with a kick to the stomach. The crowd started cheering loudly as Droese grabbed Rip and dropped him a gutwrench powerbomb! Droese stormed to the back while Rogers rolled around the ring in pain.
Jim Ross and Dusty Rhodes both were laughing it up as Rogers finally got what was coming to him. Jim Ross then announced the debut of a new star to WCW, The Patriot. Ross said that the Patriot is very fond of the country he comes from, the USA, and shows it by wearing red, white and blue tights and a flagged mask. Dusty Rhodes said it was always good to see the up and coming stars show respect to the country that gives them the right to wrestle here every week.
The Patriot pinned Sgt. Buddy Lee Parker with the Patriot Missile in 0:04:23. Rating: **
It was definitely a successful debut for the Patriot, and both Jim Ross and Dusty Rhodes seemed impressed with the young masked man. The Patriot Missile, his shoulderblock off the top rope, nearly turned Sgt. Buddy Lee Parker inside out. The Patriot will be somebody to watch in the coming weeks. From there Jim Ross sent it to the back where Eric Bischoff was apparently standing by with the Diamond Mine.
Diamond Dallas Page was obviously very upset and started to tell Bischoff all about it when Page and the Studd fell to the mat. Behind them appeared two men, one with long black hair and one with a black mask on. Both men were Japanese, and they were both holding on to rather large sized wrenches. Vegas tried to put up a fight, but he was quickly overwhelmed, especially after he was nailed upside the head with one of those wrenches. From there both men started to work over the leg of the fallen Vegas. Bischoff kept screaming for help, but both men were able to accomplish quite a bit of damage before security was able to pull them off. Vegas kept yelling about his knee while these two mystery men were pulled away.
Back at ringside Jim Ross appeared to be rather surprised by what happened, and he did send off that he hoped the Diamond Mine was okay. Dusty Rhodes kind of smirked, and he said that karma sometimes comes back to bite you on the butt. Ross sent it once again to the back where Sting and Barry Windham were standing alone.
Sting cut a promo before the upcoming match with Barry Windham. Sting said that he was not only going there to revenge the attack he received at the hands of Cactus Jack, but he was also there to defend El Gigante. Sting said what happened to El Gigante was disgusting, and he could never forgive Cactus. Barry Windham wanted to thank Sting for considering him as a number one contender, but he wanted to prove himself here tonight by taking out Cactus Jack. Windham also said that back in Texas people do not treat the shaking of hands with as much disrespect as Rude did. Sting said he was ready to take it to both men in the ring here tonight and that both Cactus and Rude needed to learn a measure of respect.
Cactus Jack and Rick Rude defeated Barry Windham and Sting when Cactus pinned Sting via outside interference in 0:13:53. Rating: *** 1/2
This match had it all as all four men could not wait to get their hands on each other. There wasn’t a moment to breathe as neither man wanted to back down from the other. It almost got a little out of hand when Cactus Jack was in the ring with Sting. Sting was able to corner Cactus off and wailed on him for a good fifteen seconds before the referee, Randy Anderson, was able to pull him off. Rude and Windham also didn’t waste any time in ripping right in to one another. There is no love lost between those two, and they showed it here tonight. After about ten minutes things broke down, and all four men ended up back in the ring with one another. Rude and Windham fell to the outside and continued to brawl out there. While Randy Anderson jumped out there to try and separate those two, the crowd started to go crazy…
El Gigante had started to walk down the aisle! El Gigante stepped over the top rope, and things were looking rather bleak for Cactus. Sting high-fived Gigante and let out a holler to keep the crowd pumped. Gigante looked like he was stalking Cactus, but he then turned around and grabbed Sting by the throat! The crowd went ballistic as Gigante lifted Sting up and dropped him with a TALL choke slam! Sting landed hard and was out! The crowd started to boo El Gigante as he stepped back over the top rope while Cactus covered Sting. The crowd kept screaming out “no!” as Randy Anderson slid back in to the ring and delivered the three count on the totally out Sting.
El Gigante walked over to where Windham and Rude were still brawling outside. Gigante gave Windham a big overhand chop that knocked Barry out while Rude just stared on in shock. Paul E. Dangerously quickly grabbed Rude and got him the heck out of dodge while El Gigante stalked around ringside, and Cactus Jack had his fun by sitting on Sting’s chest and slapping away at the face of the World Heavyweight Champion.
Card rating: ** 3/4
WCW Hotline:
What a shocking development. What has happened to our “Friendly” El Gigante? El Gigante has turned his back on the fans. Eric Bischoff tried to get some explanation out of the big man after the show, but he didn’t even seem to notice that Bischoff was there. What was even more surprising was that he left the arena with Cactus Jack! What in the heck is going on here?
The WCW Championship Committee reviewed Dustin Rhodes’ challenge to Steve Austin, and they have decided to give him one more opportunity at the Clash of the Champions. So at the Clash, in Rhodes’ last chance, he will go one on one with “Stunning” Steve Austin for the Television Title. As a special stipulation there will be no time limit for the match, and because of all of this, it was announced that this will main event the Clash! Both “The Natural” Dustin Rhodes and Steve Austin were pretty happy to hear this as this will be their first time headlining a supercard in a one on one match.
At this point Dusty Rhodes was still on the phone with Kip Allen Frey, but from an inside source it looks like they might be talking about restructuring his current contract. What this means for Rhodes, Harley Race, and Big Van Vader is anybody’s guess.
Marcus Alexander Bagwell scored quite possibly the biggest upset of his career here tonight. Unfortunately any joy he could take from it was immediately taken away by the man he beat, Dick Slater. Slater was obviously a little embarrassed by his loss, and it looks like these two are not done with one another.
Arn Anderson and Bobby Eaton walked away with a bit of momentum over the Diamond Mine in relation as to who is next in line for a shot at the World Tag Team Titles. Things got even worse for the Diamond Mine later on when two men from Japan ambushed them backstage and completely laid them out. Not only that, but it appears that Vinnie Vegas was injured and will not be back in action for quite some time.
In behind the scenes news: Vinnie Vegas has quit WCW effective immediately. It is unclear where this will take the bookers in planning around the World Tag Team Titles and its contenders.
Next week Cactus Jack has promised to give an in ring interview about what happened tonight. Will El Gigante be there? And will Sting? Cactus Jack did get the pinfall victory over the champion, but the WCW Championship Committee that it is not nearly enough to guarantee Cactus the title shot at Wrestle War in May. In fact, they have said Barry Windham more than proved himself here tonight as well, and so at Clash of the Champions, Cactus Jack will meet Barry Windham for the #1 contendership to the World Heavyweight Champion, Sting.
Also next week Brian Pillman returns to action in after his brutal beating by Big Van Vader. He will be teaming with the Z Man against the Taylor Made Men. Michael Hayes goes one on one with Big Josh, and Jimmy Garvin does the same with Ron Simmons. And in our main event Dustin Rhodes goes one on one with Big Van Vader! What a huge main event!
Don’t forget to also tune in tomorrow where the Steiner Brothers defend their WCW World Tag Team Titles against Rick Rude and Larry Zbyszko. Not only that, but Ricky Steamboat has just announced he will be in the Steiners corner to try and thwart the interference of Paul E. Dangerously. Mr. Hughes will also be in singles action as will be Diamond Dallas Page. Be sure to be there!
Matches signed for Clash of the Champions XIX:
Television Title: “Stunning” Steve Austin© vs. “The Natural” Dustin Rhodes
United States Tag Team Titles: Big Josh & Ron Simmons© vs. The Fabulous Freebirds
#1 Contendership to the World Heavyweight Title: Barry Windham vs. Cactus Jack

WCW Saturday Night 3/21/92 Atlanta, GA: Center Stage Theatre Your hosts are Jim Ross and Dusty Rhodes - Good win for Austin. Felt like he needed it. - Hm...that doesn't feel like a HUGE Bagwell upset...but yeah. Looks like this is continuing, and that's a good contrast for a feud...pretty boy vs rugged brawler...popular young idol vs wily veteran. - Race vs Rhodes? That would not be a good match at this point. - Arn wins! With cheating! - Hmmm...where's this going with Lex, I wonder? - Poor Rip Rogers. - Patriot wins! - Uh...Diamond Mine attacked from behind by armed Japanese men? That sure SOUNDS like a face-like victimization. I assume this is retribution for the Liger assault. - So...Cactus and Gigante, huh? - AH. Vegas was the quitter. Damn it...at least he jobbed first. - Pillman and Z-Man! Dustin vs Vader! Looking forward to it. - Hughes vs DDP? Diamond Mine sure are facing a lot of heels...

Carp: - It's not my fault that Kip Allen Frey signed the Yakuza as his HR department. Tommy: - Yeah, I like Slater vs Bagwell. It probably won't last long, but it's a nice feud that doesn't really hurt either guy. - I don't mind the occasional DUD when booking so Race vs Rhodes doesn't hurt me too much. - I could see the Diamond Mine looking like the faces here, but that's not the plan really. Oh, and Mr. Hughes and DDP have different singles matches. Not one with each other. Thanks for the comments, guys.

WCW Main Event 3/22/92 Atlanta, GA: Center Stage Theatre Your host is Tony Schiavone
Tony Schiavone started the night off by welcoming everybody to the main event. He said that tonight promised to be a big night as the Steiner Brothers would be defending their World Tag Team Titles against two members of the Dangerous Alliance, “Ravishing” Rick Rude and “The Cruncher” Larry Zbyszko. Schiavone ran down what had happened in the last couple of weeks where Rude had defended his United States Title against Rick Steiner and then Scott Steiner. Rude was able to walk away with his Title but not without a fight. Because of this, Rick Rude petitioned for and was granted a Tag Team Title shot. The Steiner Brothers are back in their element, and Rude is out of his. Schiavone questions if that could be the deciding factor in the match? Schiavone did also announce that Ricky Steamboat was in the arena, and he would be accompanying the Steiners to the ring to try and squelch the interference of the Alliance’s manager, Paul E. Dangerously.
With all of that being said, Schiavone sent it to the ring for the opening bout.
Mr. Hughes pinned AJ Jackson with the Spinning Side Slam in 0:03:11. Rating: * 1/4
Not much has been heard of from Mr. Hughes as of late. His usual manager, Harley Race, did not accompany him to the ring for this bout. It is unsure as to where Race was, but Race had also not accompanied Lex Luger for his match yesterday on Saturday Night. It might be that Harley is strictly putting all of his attention on Big Van Vader at this point.
Mr. Hughes walked away with a nice victory to try and get him back on track.
Van Hammer and PN News defeated George South and TA McCoy when Hammer pinned McCoy with the Hammer Rocks in 0:04:31. Rating: * 3/4
Van Hammer and PN News, definitely a unique tag team, showed quite a bit of nice team work here tonight. Hammer and News gave each other a high five after the match, and it looks like we could have another tag team entering the ranks if they decide so.
Diamond Dallas Page pinned Johnny Gunn with the Faceplant in 0:04:21. Rating: * ¼
Diamond Dallas Page wasted little time on his opponent here tonight. DDP continues to slowly improve in singles competition. After the match Page joined the Diamond Studd in the interview area where Eric Bischoff was standing. Bischoff first mentioned Page’s impressive win seconds ago, and he then asked Page where Vinnie Vegas was. Page did not seem too happy as he growled that Vegas was in the hospital right now with his knee being operated on. Page yelled that he didn’t know who was responsible for the attack on him and his men, but he would be finding out soon. The Diamond Studd said that they may have taken out his friend but they hadn’t taken him out. The Studd said that when you have him down, you better take him out of the game completely, because now they were going to feel his wrath. Eric Bischoff asked what this meant for Page’s quest to become number one contenders to the World Tag Team Titles. Page replied that it would all be revealed this coming Saturday when the Diamond Mine would reveal just how deep it goes.
Gordon Solie took it over from here where he revealed this week’s top ten:
10. Arn Anderson (-) 9. Larry Zbyszko (9) 8. Ricky Steamboat (8) 7. Steve Austin (7) 6. Big Van Vader (6) 5. Lex Luger (4) 4. Barry Windham (5) 3. Dustin Rhodes (3) 2. Cactus Jack (2) 1. Rick Rude (1) Champion: Sting (C)
Gordon Solie said that there wasn’t much of a shake-up here this week, but the depth of challengers for Sting’s World Heavyweight Title really is amazing.
The Patriot pinned Jim Nash with the Patriot Missile in 0:04:21. Rating: ** 1/4
The Patriot made his second appearance here in WCW and earned himself another victory. He cut an insert promo during the match stating how proud he was to be a part of WCW, and he couldn’t wait to compete with some of the names he has grown to respect. He did say that he was less impressed with other members of the roster and what they will do to win a match. He then called out the Dangerous Alliance as being the ones he had his eye on. He said that the United States was built on honor and respect, not underhanded deeds like the Alliance likes to pull off. The Patriot said to watch out because the Patriot Missile would be soaring soon.
Tony Schiavone mentioned that those were some big words from the newcomer, but that the Patriot has only showed great things so far in his time here. Schiavone did question whether the Patriot might be getting a little over his head with the calling out of the Dangerous Alliance. Schiavone then said that it was time for the World Tag Team Championship match.
What was odd was that Larry Zbyszko came out first with his manager, Paul E. Dangerously. They both seemed confused for some reason. Next out were the Steiner Brothers with their Titles. They were accompanied by Ricky Steamboat who had a huge smile on his face. The question was, where was “Ravishing” Rick Rude? Larry Zbyszko seemed a little reluctant, but eventually the bell rang and he would be starting this match out by himself.
The Steiner Brothers (Rick Steiner and Scott Steiner) defeated The Dangerous Alliance (Arn Anderson and Larry Zbyszko) when R. Steiner pinned Zbyszko with the Steiner Bulldog in 0:09:58. Rating: *** (Rick Rude no-showed.) (The Steiner Brothers retained the WCW World Tag Team Titles.)
Paul E. Dangerously had to witness one of his men, Larry Zbyszko, take an absolute beating for the first couple minutes of the match. After awhile Dangerously could take no more and he ran to the back. Seconds later he came back out with Arn Anderson. Anderson was in a t-shirt and jeans, and he was obviously not ready to get out there and wrestle, but there didn’t appear to be any other option. The match then turned in to a standard tag team contest. About halfway through the match Schiavone said that he had just heard from the back that WCW officials had found Rick Rude, and he was laying unconscious in the men’s bathroom. WCW officials were still trying to wake him, but the match kept on in the ring.
Larry Zbyszko and Arn Anderson are no strangers to teaming with one another, even winning the World Tag Team Titles last September, so they took the fight right to the Steiners. Unfortunately for them, Anderson had not prepared himself properly for the match, and Larry had been expecting to team with Rude. What resulted was the Dangerous Alliance trying their best, but they were just unable to get themselves on track. Eventually Anderson was thrown to the outside and Zbyszko was caught with the Steiner Bulldog to finish things off.
After the match Ricky Steamboat joined in on the Steiners celebration in the ring. Steamboat got his face in front of the camera and then said he felt sorry for Rude, but what goes around comes around and he hoped Rude enjoyed himself tonight. It didn’t take long for Schiavone to understand that it was probably Steamboat that was responsible for Rude missing out on his Tag Title shot as retribution for Rude’s attack on Steamboat a week or so ago on Saturday Night. Paul E. checked on Zbyszko while Steamboat and the Steiners shook hands in the ring.
Card rating: ** ¾
WCW Hotline:
Well, it looks like Ricky Steamboat gained a little bit of revenge on “Ravishing” Rick Rude here tonight. Steamboat and Rude have had problems with one another for quite some time now, eventually things will have to be settled.
The Steiners Brothers came away with a nice defense of their Titles. Larry Zbyszko and Arn Anderson put up a good fight, but the result was never really in question it seemed. Arn Anderson was not happy after the show as he has been petitioning for Bobby Eaton and himself to get their rematch against the Steiners. It seemed like Anderson felt like this was a failed opportunity for the Dangerous Alliance.
The Patriot continues to roll right along, he appears like he could have a very nice career ahead of him here.
The Diamond Mine are down to just Diamond Dallas Page and the Diamond Studd, but Page has said this Saturday he will be revealing possibly a new member. Arn Anderson and Bobby Eaton are still in contention for the #1 contendership to the World Tag Team Titles, and the Diamond Studd and Vinnie Vegas were right there with them. Will a new partner be revealed for the Studd?
Be sure to tune in this coming Saturday where Brian Pillman and the Z-Man team up against the Taylor Made Men, Big Josh faces Michael Hayes, Ron Simmons does battle with Jimmy Garvin, and in the main event Big Van Vader faces Dustin Rhodes! Not only that, but Cactus Jack will be in the ring to talk about yesterday’s attack on Sting and just what the heck El Gigante was doing.
Also next week on the Main Event Larry Zbyszko does battle with Johnny B. Badd!

WHOOPS. I misread that part with Hughes and DDP.

WCW Main Event 3/22/92 Atlanta, GA: Center Stage Theatre Your host is Tony Schiavone - Poor Hughes...flying without his manager. - Van Hammer and PN News is a tag team that would have really annoyed WCW's souther fanbase...=) - Does DDP have...a plan?! - Another win for Patriot! - Uh-oh...Rude no-shows! Steamboat attacking Rude in a bathroom would be a little vicious.

Patriot seems out of place when there aren't evil foreigners to fight.
Hammer + PN News = RAP METAL. It's like when Anthrax and Public Enemy teamed up in the 80s!

WCW Saturday Night 3/28/92 Atlanta, GA: Center Stage Theatre Your hosts are Jim Ross and Dusty Rhodes
Jim Ross and Dusty Rhodes both welcomed us to WCW Saturday Night. Ross immediately went into running down the card and saying that tonight promised to be full of action. Dusty said that tonight Dustin Rhodes would be going one on one with Big Van Vader in the main event, and he would be watching that one very closely. Jim Ross questioned Dusty on his phone calls with Kip Alley Frey over the week, but Dusty just said that he had been talking to Frey about a possible addendum to his current contract. Ross asked for more clarification, but Rhodes became a little quiet on the issue. Ross also said that the United States Tag Team Champions would be in singles action against their opponents at the Clash. Dusty also said that he was looking forward to seeing “Flyin’” Brian return to action here tonight in tag team action.
Jim Ross also mentioned the shocking turn of events from last week where El Gigante turned on Sting and left him laying with a big Choke Slam. Dusty said he didn’t know what was wrong with the big man, but he was sure that Sting would be getting to the bottom of it before too long. Ross said that this was totally out of the character of El Gigante and that he was pretty sure Cactus Jack had something to do with it. Ross said we would be hearing from Cactus Jack later on tonight, but before we could get to all that we went to the ring for the opening bout.
Big Josh pinned Michael Hayes with the Northern Exposure in 0:07:52. Rating: **
Big Josh and Michael Hayes both were by themselves tonight. Hayes has had some success as a singles wrestler, previously winning the US Heavyweight Title back in 1989. Big Josh is no slouch either and so we had quite the back and forth battle. Neither man wanted to back down from the other as they tried to gain some momentum going in to their big US Tag Team Title match at the Clash. Big Josh ended up being just a step faster and stronger here tonight as he was able to put Hayes away with the Northern Exposure. Hayes was obviously disappointed after the match. As he walked back down the aisle his eyes never left Big Josh celebrating in the ring. This was definitely a big win for the current US Tag Champs.
Dick Slater pinned Joey Maggs with the Piledriver in 0:03:40. Rating: ** 1/4
Dick Slater cut an insert promo during this match alongside Col. Robert Parker. Slater said that Marcus Alexander Bagwell had better be on the lookout because he doesn’t take too kindly to youngsters with their good looks and the having of all of their teeth. Slater said he might just need to knock or two teeth out of young Bagwell’s face to show him what wrestling is all about. Col. Parker said he was disgusted by the officiating during the match, and it was clear that Slater shouldn’t have been beaten by that no good scoundrel, Bagwell. Parker said Bagwell embarrassed him and Slater and that Slater was going to take it out of his hide.
In the ring, Slater had no problems with his opponent. After the match Slater showed the camera his closed fist and promised Bagwell would be feeling it very soon.
Eric Bischoff introduced “Ravishing” Rick Rude to the interview area along with his manager, Paul E. Dangerously. Rude seemed obviously upset and Dangerously was hopping mad beside him. Bischoff asked him about what happened last Sunday on the Main Event where he didn’t show up for his big World Tag Team Title match against the Steiner Brothers? Rude gave Bischoff a death stare as he yelled what a stupid question that was. Rude said it was clear that it was Ricky Steamboat that attacked him and cost him his chance at holding two titles at once. Rude said that he knew all along he was right about Steamboat, that he was jealous of Rude’s success. Rude said he would have won the Tag Titles with Larry Zbyszko last Sunday, but Steamboat stuck his head in to his business once again. Dangerously chimed in that there was only one thing left to do and that was to cut the head of the Dragon off. Rude said it was time to end this for good and said he wanted Steamboat at the Clash one more time. Rude stormed off with Dangerously while Bischoff rambled about what a big match this could be to add to the supercard on the 12th.
Jim Ross seemed a little surprised by Rude’s direct challenge, but Rhodes said this feud had been going on for quite some time and this time it possibly cost Rude championship gold. Rhodes said that Rude would, of course, be upset and looking for some revenge. Ross said that he Rude better know what he’s doing because he just challenged a very determined man in Ricky Steamboat. With that Rhodes said he was happy to see Brian Pillman back in action which would take place next.
Brian Pillman and Z-Man defeated The Taylor Made Men (Terry Taylor and Tracey Smothers) when Pillman pinned T. Smothers with the Springboard Clothesline in 0:07:29. Rating: ** 1/2
Brian Pillman got quite the reaction tonight for his return. He seemed pretty moved by it all and waved his hand in appreciated. There was a match, however, that needed to be wrestled and so it wasn’t long before Tom Zenk and Tracey Smothers were starting this match off for their respective teams. Pillman was right back on his game as he took it to both Taylor and Smothers with his high flying offense. In fact, after Zenk tagged out the first time, Pillman even showed a little bit of an aggressive side as when Zenk was the legal man and whipped Taylor in to the ropes, Pillman nailed him in the back of the head with an enzuguiri from the ring apron. Taylor staggered forward right in to a Z-Man savate kick. That almost got the three count, but Smothers was able to break it up. Things eventually broke down again with all four men in the ring, and Pillman was able to sneak the Springboard Clothesline in out of nowhere on Smothers. Pillman made the quick cover and that was all she wrote.
The Z-Man celebrated in the ring after the match while Pillman took the calmer route and just left the ring clapping hands with the fans on the way to the back.
Ron Simmons pinned Jimmy Garvin with the Powerslam in 0:06:34. Rating: **
Once again neither man’s tag team partner accompanied him to the ring. Jimmy Garvin was able to use quite a bit of his speed here tonight to keep Ron Simmons off guard, but it was only a matter of time before Simmons got his massive arms around Garvin. When he did the beating he gave Garvin wasn’t pretty. Garvin wouldn’t go down easily, however, and soon we had Garvin trying to duck and weave while Simmons kept trying to hit something big enough to put Garvin away. It eventually happened when Garvin made the mistake of bouncing off the ropes before Simmons was properly worn down enough, and Ron hit his Powerslam out of nowhere! Garvin was caught totally off guard and the three count was pretty academic.
Ron Simmons grabbed his half of the US Tag Team Titles and raised it over his head while Garvin recovered in the corner. Garvin’s eyes never left the Title. The Freebirds have had quite a bit of luck against Big Josh and Ron Simmons in tag action, but Josh and Ron both showed they weren’t going to dominated by Hayes and Garvin here tonight.
Once the ring was cleared Cactus Jack’s music hit and out stepped the deranged man. And, not surprisingly, El Gigante was standing right next to him. Both men were booed unmercifully as they walked over to the interview area where Eric Bischoff stood. Bischoff tried asking El Gigante a question, but Cactus Jack quickly shushed him. Jack said that El Gigante would not be answering any questions because he can’t speak the language. Jack then called Bischoff an idiot. Cactus said that El Gigante has let him know that he is sick and tired of being referred to as “The Giant” in Spanish. From now on he will be called by his God given name, Jorge Gonzalez! Cactus said he had come to realize that El Gigante is not just a giant but a man that is just trying to fit in. Cactus knew that he and Jorge had a lot in common. Cactus admitted that all of his life he had tried to fit in, to be the cool kid in school, to get all the girls, but nobody would ever talk to him. He said that they complained he stank and was fat and was gross to look at.
Eric Bischoff asked what this had to do with what happened to Sting the last couple of weeks, and Cactus ripped the microphone from his hand. Bischoff looked a little scared before he jogged away. Cactus said that he had gone through his entire life trying to fit in. He said that he even joined the baseball team and that he was a damned fine catcher in his day. He said that the only problem he had was that the team didn’t have any baseball pants big enough for his wide posterior and so when he squatted behind the plate there was a rather obscene view for the crowd. Cactus yelled out that he could still hear the taunts of “Asscrack Jack!” in his sleep. He said that it wasn’t fair because he was a great catcher, but he the chants distracted him. He screamed that it wasn’t his fault the pants were too small!
Cactus said that it was the same with Jorge Gonzalez that he tried out for the basketball team, but he was just too tall. Cactus said that Jorge revealed to him that he could dunk without leaving his feet, and so the other parents complained and they made Jorge quit the basketball team. Cactus Jack made it clear that all he and Jorge wanted was to fit in, to be like Sting, the good looking guy with the cool hair and the fans yelling for them. Cactus stated that he eventually realized it would never happen and it wouldn’t happen for Jorge either. Cactus finally convinced Jorge of this the night of Superbrawl when Gonzalez was sitting on a chair bleeding from the skull. And now, he said, they were going to fit in finally as a group of their own. And they were going to make the cool people like Sting pay for all the years they suffered. Cactus said Sting will suffer for all of the lunches where Jorge and he sat alone, for all the car pools that they weren’t invited in to because Jorge was too tall and Cactus smelled like cheese! Cactus Jack said they have always been outsiders, but now they will enjoy it and will enjoy taking everything away from Sting including his Title.
With that Cactus left the scene with, as he now wants to be called, Jorge Gonzalez. The whole crowd did not miss the chance to get in a few more boo’s and there were even a couple of “Asscrack Jack!” chants as they went back to the locker rooms. Jim Ross said he didn’t fully understand why Cactus Jack had picked out Sting for all of his troubles, but he said he knew that Sting would not be happy with this reasoning. Rhodes started to say El Gigante but switched over to Jorge Gonzalez. Rhodes said that Jorge use to be a nice guy and he really has lost all respect for him to pair up with that psycho Cactus Jack. Jim Ross said that he didn’t know how Cactus knew all of this since he didn’t think Cactus spoke Gonzalez’s language. Ross did say he can’t wait to hear from Sting about all of this, but he apparently is not in the building tonight, but he will definitely be here next week.
Johnny B. Badd pinned AJ Jackson with the Tutti Frutti in 0:04:19. Rating: * 3/4
Jim Ross brought up the Rip Rogers-Mike Droese situation from last week. Ross said that Kip Allen Frey had told Mike Droese that he needs to refrain from putting his hands on a competitor as long as he is employed as a referee. Ross then said that both Droese and Rogers are sitting out with a one week suspension, but Frey is giving Droese another chance next week where he will referee a Rip Rogers match. Rhodes says it is all a sham because if Rip Rogers puts his hands on a referee, the referee should have the right to put a fist in his mouth. Ross can’t help but agree as we go back to the ring for the next match.
Scott Steiner pinned Mike McReynolds with the Frankensteiner in 0:04:34. Rating: ** 1/2
The Steiner Brothers cut an insert promo during the match. Rick said that he noticed they were constantly being hunted since they were champions. Scott knew that both Arn Anderson and Bobby Eaton and the Diamond Mine were claiming the rights to the #1 contendership to the World Tag Titles, but they didn’t care who it was because there was no way they were taking their gold. Rick knew that the Diamond Mine were getting ready to introduce a new tag team partner for the Diamond Studd, but he said it didn’t matter how big or how fast they were, that both the Diamond Mine and the Dangerous Alliance were no match for the Dog Faced Gremlin.
Speaking of the Diamond Mine, they were out next. Diamond Dallas Page and the Diamond Studd entered the ring and were given a microphone. Page said that it is true, that the Diamond Mine, for a short period of time, were down to just two members, but tonight they were going back to three. He said that tonight the Diamond Mine would take out a couple of punks that reminded them of those cowards that attacked them from behind last week. And with that Page said he had dug deep in to the Diamond Mine, and realized that what they needed weren’t more diamonds, but someone more along the lines of a rock. Page said he found that person in the “The Rock” Don Muraco. Don Muraco stormed down the aisle and the crowd seemed genuinely surprised to see him back in the ring. Muraco was as big and strong as ever as he slid in to the ring to stand beside DDP and the Diamond Studd.
The Diamond Mine (Diamond Studd and Don Muraco) defeated Shiro Koshinaka and Kuniaki Kobayashi when Muraco pinned Koshinaka with the Cave In in 0:03:20. Rating: ** 1/4
The Diamond Mine showed off just what they are capable of here tonight. Now that they have Don Muraco by their side there may be no stopping them. He adds a lot of experience and strength to an already formidable group. They had apparently asked for this match to try and show they weren’t scared of the two Oriental men that attacked them last week. Muraco didn’t even tag out during the match as he completely destroyed both of his opponents. The Cave In, Don Muraco’s Tombstone Piledriver, put Koshinaka out for good. Muraco wasn’t done, however, as when Kobayashi came in to check up on his fallen partner, Muraco clobbered him upside the head and then dropped him with the Cave In as well.
After the match Page got his face in front of the camera and said they were as good as ever and the Steiner Brothers better watch out because they were coming for the gold. Don Muraco just stood over his two fallen opponents, breathing rather hard, and looking very, very angry. The Diamond Studd was, of course, all smiles as it looked like the Diamond Mine was back on track.
Dusty Rhodes talked about how big it was that Don Muraco had decided to join up with the Diamond Mine. Jim Ross said that nobody has seen Muraco in a ring for awhile, but it was obvious he still had it by his complete mauling of the two opponents here tonight. Dusty said that coming up next was a match he’d be watching very closely. Ross once again asked him about his phone calls with Kip Frey over the week, but Dusty was silent on the issue.
Before the match could begin, as Dustin Rhodes was making his entrance, Steve Austin cut an insert promo with the TV Title on his shoulder. Austin wished Rhodes luck tonight, and he said he was on his knees praying that Rhodes didn’t get too busted up because he didn’t want to mess the opportunity to do a little beating on Dustin himself at the Clash.
Dustin Rhodes defeated Big Van Vader by disqualification in 0:09:07. Rating: * 3/4
Neither man was going to give an inch here tonight. Big Van Vader tried to intimidate Dustin at the beginning of the match by tossing him around from corner to corner and hammering with blows to the head. Rhodes didn’t back down, however, and out of nowhere started firing right back with elbows of his own. Pretty soon we had a full out brawl on our hands. Neither man went for very many pinfalls during the match as neither man would stay down for very long. Things looked like they might be over when Vader caught Rhodes out of nowhere with a huge choke slam. Vader went for a cover without hooking the leg, however, and Dustin was somehow able to find a way to get his shoulder up. Vader didn’t seem to care as he just went right back to the match by throwing Rhodes in to the corner again and hammering away.
Dustin fought back valiantly and had a close pinfall attempt of his own when he caught an unsuspecting Vader with a sunset flip. With Vader being a little stunned Rhodes tried to take advantage and did so by hitting his Bulldog as Vader was getting back to his feet! But Vader immediately started to get back to his feet again. Rhodes saw this and went back to hit another Bulldog but a chair came from out of nowhere and slammed across his back. Harley Race had hit Dustin Rhodes from the outside with a chair as Rhodes bounced off the ropes! Rhodes collapsed and referee Nick Patrick immediately called for the bell.
Race entered the ring just as Vader was pulling Dustin to his feet. Vader nearly drove Dustin through the mat with a Power Bomb while Race stood by laughing. Dusty stood to his feet and he looked pretty angry. Dusty folded up his chair and started heading his way in to the ring, but Race had grabbed a microphone and told Dusty that he couldn’t step foot in the ring because of his contract! Dusty didn’t even hesitate, however, as he entered the ring and smashed Vader with the chair! Vader was trying to pull Dustin up at the time and was caught off guard. Vader landed pretty hard and rolled out of the ring. Harley Race quickly got out of the ring before Dusty could focus his attention on him. Race pulled Vader to the back, but it was obvious that Big Van Vader wanted to get back in there and get at Dusty Rhodes.
Dusty Rhodes grabbed the microphone that Race had dropped and told Race and Vader, that Frey had helped him with his contract and until this thing is settled between him and Race, he is not only a commentator but he’s also a wrestler, baby! Dusty then revealed that since Race wanted to get his hands on Dusty so badly that he would get his chance on the 12th at the Clash because Dusty would be facing Harley Race in a match, one on one! The crowd was pretty pumped for this as they cheered while Dusty helped his son, Dustin, up to his feet. Harley Race looked on in shock from the aisle while Vader looked on angrily.
Card rating: ** 1/2
WCW Hotline:
Dusty Rhodes apparently got his request granted as Executive VP Kip Allen Frey has edited Rhodes’ contract so that he will be allowed to wrestle at least at the Clash. So it will be Harley Race versus Dusty Rhodes at the Clash. Harley Race was seen throwing a fit backstage at this turn of events, but if Big Van Vader is by his side it may be Dusty Rhodes that needs to be worried.
El Gigante now wants to be known as Jorge Gonzalez and is definitely siding with Cactus Jack in his war against Sting. Sting was reached for comment after tonight’s show, but all he would say was that he was extremely disappointed in what is going in El Gigante’s head, and that he hoped he could talk some sense in to him.
The Diamond Mine introduced their newest team member, Don Muraco. Don Muraco bulldozed over his opponents here tonight and looked pretty impressive in doing it. DDP made it clear after the show that Don Muraco and the Diamond Studd were still going for the World Tag Team Titles and if they had to go through Bobby Eaton and Arn Anderson to do it they had no problems with it.
The two Asian men that attacked them last week were nowhere to be seen, but it has been revealed that they are actually two veterans of the ring, Pat Tanaka and Kato, the Orient Express. Not much is known as to why they attacked the Diamond Mine last week, but they will be in action tomorrow night on the Main Event!
“Ravishing” Rick Rude has finally had it with Ricky Steamboat and he wants to settle the score once and for all. Ricky Steamboat agreed to the match after the show tonight and so it is official, these two will meet once again for the United States Title at the Clash.
“Flyin’” Brian was successful in his return to the ring here tonight in tag team action. It is still unclear if Pillman will be trying to join the tag ranks with Tom Zenk or if he will take the singles route. They did look rather impressive in their victory over the Taylor Made Men.
And the United States Tag Team Champions looked very impressive in singles action as Big Josh and Ron Simmons beat Michael Hayes and Jimmy Garvin, respectively, in one on one encounters. Hayes and Garvin were definitely upset about this and have since issued a challenge to the Champs for next week where they will team up with “Ravishing” Rick Rude to do battle with Big Josh, Ron Simmons, and Ricky Steamboat.
Not only that, but next week Rip Rogers is in action where Mike Droese will be refereeing, Jorge Gonzalez will be in singles action, and in our main event Barry Windham takes on former World Heavyweight Champion, Lex Luger! Sting will also be in the arena and what will he have to say about everything going on right now involving Cactus Jack and Jorge Gonzalez?
Tomorrow night be sure to tune in for the Orient Express’ debut and in our main event Larry Zbyszko wrestles Johnny B. Badd!
Outside the ring news: Brad Armstrong gave his notice. Tomorrow’s Main Event will be his last card.

WCW Saturday Night 3/28/92 Atlanta, GA: Center Stage Theatre Your hosts are Jim Ross and Dusty Rhodes - Josh winning in the singles match is hopefully foreshadowing for the impending tag title change. - Squash for Slater, that's good. - Hm. Now I wonder if it really was Steamboat. - Yay for Pillman and Z-Man! Too bad faces hold all the tag belts at the moment. - Poor Freebirds...going 0-2. - Awww...poor Gonzalez and Jack are mad that they can't fit in. - Don Muraco and Diamond Studd vs two Japanese guys I have never heard of! - Surprising addition, but good. - And Dusty vs Harley is set! - The Orient Express! As...faces? - You know it's bad when they announce who the referee is and it's NOT a guest referee. - Windham vs Luger could be huge.

AIR PILLMAN!
No, really, that's the name of Pillman's finisher.
Maybe in 1982. In 1992, Muraco strikes no fear in my heart.
Interesting turn of events with TAFKA El Gigante; I like it.

Thanks, Muted79, probably my favorite fed I've done since the WWA...but now I'm confused. I must know you from the list days, any hints? I barely even remember WWF-SF, but I don't recall it being very good. I think it's just remembered fondly because it was up against WCW-SF.
