I am watching the AWA on ESPN Classic and they just had a match between Jerry "The King" Lawler and Samoan Joe. Would that be the same Samoa Joe that we all know on TNA?

I can't imagine that being the case. Samoa Joe trained with John Cena in California.

That clip is so awful: -announcers spend half the match talking about the XFL -WTF is up with the ropes hanging from Samoa Joe's belt? -Samoa Joe jobs to f'n Essa Rios (mispronounced? by the announcers repeatedly as "Essay Rios")
But Joe shows his potential in this match I think.

Really, he should have jobbed right there. Essa Rios looks like a star and Samoa(n) Joe looks like the quintessential indy wrestler...out of shape, wrestling in a tank top and warm-up pants, for no discernable reason.
Thank God Joe eventually got something that looked like wrestling gear and not gym clothes.

Meanwhile, he's still the quintessential indy wrestler~ Well, he DID invest in actual ring attire. That goes a long way.

Meanwhile, he's still the quintessential indy wrestler~ All in-ring talent no mic skills? Now not all indy wrestlers have no mike skills do the names Austin Aries, Eddie Kingston, and Kenny King ring a bell?

All in-ring talent no mic skills? Now not all indy wrestlers have no mike skills do the names Austin Aries, Eddie Kingston, and Kenny King ring a bell? That's cause they are all sitting under the learning tree of Jim Cornette in ROH. And he is quite the interview teacher.

All in-ring talent no mic skills? Now not all indy wrestlers have no mike skills do the names Austin Aries, Eddie Kingston, and Kenny King ring a bell? Yes, no, no. But I don't doubt there are indy wrestlers out there with mic skills. But the indy wrestler stereotype is that they are all in-ring talent but no ability on the mic, which is why they are trapped in the indys.
