Douglas-Pitbulls. Francine (Pitbulls manager) turned on them, and joined Douglas Afterwards, Douglas broke Pitbull 1's neck. Pitbull 2 was, of course, mildly upset. I personally liked Al Snow starting off as a slightly "off" jobber who ended up wrestling for the title. With Head. Beulla "pregnant" / Beulla and Kimona was a great couple WOW moments only because it was basically unheard of at that time. bWo was fun. Watching the Dudleys start out as inbred Lil Snot and Dudley Dudley (with Big Dick) and seeing them turn into, what is now, Team 3D is still a great ride. I also think that it was Heyman, if anyone, who should be givin some credit for launching Steve Austin's mega-career. He was doing some of the "Stone Cold" character in ECW. Sabu became a star here in America because of Heyman as well. Let's not forget that Rey Mysterio may not have been a great star here in America without Paul's touch. Just to add some.

I really think Austin's character is just him being awesome. The Stone Cold gimmick turned into something totally different in the WWE which would be McMahon's creation. In ECW and in his early WWF stuff it was mostly just Austin improvising. Turning him into a superhero was all McMahon.

Let's not forget that Rey Mysterio may not have been a great star here in America without Paul's touch. If memory serves me correct, Eddie, Benoit, Saturn, Malenko, Rey Jr, and Psicosis/Psychosis all wrestled in ECW before WCW. The Rey-Psychosis matches really put Rey on the map.

I was pretty sure Benoit had a fairly jobberific stint in WCW before ECW, but I could be wrong.

I think Benoit and Malenko had a couple of "nothing" matches in WCW and other indies before ECW.
ECW was, of course, what made them famous. Well, got people's attention.
As for Austin, I think Heyman said it best when he said they "turned on the camera, and told Steve to just say what was on his mind". So yeah, it was just Austin being awesome. Credit to ECW for LETTING him, though ;->
Jericho's first title in the US was the ECW World TV Title. Just watched the episode from 1996. Joey Styles made the (now obvious) comment of "He (Jericho) WILL win MANY more world titles in his career". Amazing how "raw" Jericho was then ;->
