Isn't gonna happen... the Impact on Jan 4 is a 1 time thing & TNA will be back on Thursday Jan 7 with a replay of the Monday show... much like Nitro was doing for awhile with the replay right after it went off. So why even watch it live? From there Impact will be in its normal Thursday timeslot. So While this gives Vince a reason to make the Jan 4 Raw better, it gives no incentive to continue the trend.

TNA fans might watch anyway. It's the same reason midnight releases of anything work: people are impatient and rather than wait a short but reasonable time they will rush to get something the earliest moment it becomes available.
That said, it does smell of TNA chickening out somewhat.

That, and I know for me, it's kind of a pain in the ass to avoid spoilers for something that's already been recorded and try to avoid being told what happened.

Meh.. I'm gonna see both shows and pretend that it's 1999 again! I think maybe TNA are testing the waters. When they find out that they aren't stealing any viewers from WWE, they will quietly return to their thursday slot and keep on being the best number 2 promotion evah

Hulk Hogan was rather ambiguous in discussing his TNA contract with AOL Fanhouse, offering no clear end date for his tenure with TNA. After first noting, "I think it's a year with rollovers, you know, if we're both happy. It's definitely a year, it's not any shorter than that," Hogan later clarifies, "we both agree that if we don't get along or Dixie and I two or three weeks into this thing, if she goes, 'Hogan, how come you're letting the Martians wrestle the elephants? That's not what we want.' We agree to disagree and we've made that real clear that if they don't like the direction I'm going in, or if they can't handle the change or that they think I'm wrong that I'll just walk away, or whatever you want to call it, they'll fire me or I'll quit or whatever." Hogan debuts as part of TNA's three-hour iMPACT! special this Monday night. The latter two hours go head-to-head with RAW, although as Hogan remarks, "I'm not trying to compete with Vince, or I'm not trying to hurt Vince McMahon, but I just want to put out a better product than he does." (isn't putting on a better product competing & hurting him?)
He also stats that he was the one that went to Spike about doing a live Monday show against Raw and that the execs there said they may do it once a month & if rating are good they would consider switching days for Impact.

On the one hand, Turner execs are reading that and laughing... Something about "Learning from past mistakes..."
And in New York City, a balding, long-haired Jewish man, with a trenchcoat and a Yankees cap is cursing out Spike TV even MORE than when they destroyed his dream so many years ago...

Hogan's return vs Bret's return: Hogan is par for the course with TNA who can't seem to stop recycling has-beens (hell, they still have Russo don't they?). But it's ironic that WWE would go head to head with their own "has been" who was infamously screwed out of the company over a decade ago - ironic in the sense that WWE has come to largely ignore history and the historic nature of their own company yet here they are digging into history for a head-to-head with their closest competition (such as it is).

A "This is bullshit" chant within the first 15 minutes of the show.
*amused*
EDIT: Also? I hate that stupid domed cage.

Jeff Hardy!
RIC FLAIR?!?!
Nice wow moment but geez if Hogan wasn't enough for the parade of washed up wrestlers...
I'm watching TNA waiting for Raw. Bret Hart's return has me watching a wrestling show on something other than Youtube for the first time since Benoit's death (how weird is that?)
WTF does Hogan's limo get a police escort?

Wow now it's Scott Hall and Sean Waltman trying to get into the arena. Now all we need is Nash and Piper and we'll have a full fledged WCW reunion. EDIT: You know what this show needs more than washed up wrestlers from 10 years ago? MORE COMMERCIALS!

Ric Flair caught me by surprise too.
I'm the same, I haven't really watched wrestling in I can't remember how long, but I've got TNA on now and will flip back and forth between that and RAW at 9. Mostly RAW though. For me Hart on RAW trumps Hogan on TNA.

And here's Hogan...dressed in black? At least his 5 o'clock shadow is real instead of painted on...

Since when did the "right thing for the business" involve Hogan in a wrestling ring in 2010?
And there's Hogan, Bischoff, Nash, Hall, and Waltman in a ring for with mics for 15 minutes. WCW flashbacks from hell but everyone is older and more talentless.

If Ed Leslie shows up I'm going to lose it, I swear. Jeff Jarrett. Is. Walking. And we've seen Sting lurking in the rafters. Ed Leslie is really all we're missing.

TNA, Hogan, and Jarrett are all talking tall. These guys need to put their money where there mouth is and go to Monday Night full time.
Wait, wait, wait: did Hogan just say HE was going to make sure the young guys were gonna get a real shot because of him? I've entered the Twilight Zone...
EDIT: Jeff Hardy paints in his spare time? And then he gives away the painting to some fangirls. Russo is still booking this shit isn't he?

Are these stats for each wrestler (height, weight, finisher, years pro) a new thing for this Impact or something TNA has been doing for awhile?
I like it if only because its the kind of thing they do in UFC and it adds a slight sense of seriousness to the matches.

Picture in Picture is a great thing...
... And yet 10 years later Raw still dominates the main screen, with Bret Hart and HBK headlinging, while the nWo are on a much lower volume in the mini-pic...
Amazing how little things have changed.
Oh, and TNA has moved their PPV main event to TV.
Great idea for this ep... But what about the PPV?
(Oh, and unless Paul Heyman shows up as the new REAL head of TNA, I think WWE still wins tonight)

Giving away a PPV main event match for free on your Monday show? What is this - late 90s WCW? Oh wait...
We just got the "we'll stay with this match till it's over no matter how long it goes" speil.
I'm curious to find out who the masked attacker in black is.
