I wonder how many 15- going-on-30 year olds bust a nut over this ECW crap.

Well, I had figured "They" were the ECW guys, so it was nice to be (so far, anyway) wrong. (I could easilly see TNA making this a double-swerve)
The "Jump-the-guardrails" part was cool.
The initial beat-down was cool
Al Snow going with ECW was cool
The 4-8 "Guys Who Are Getting Too Old For This" Beating Up The Majority Of The Lockerroom was a bit.... Um...........
I think they should have hit the crowd after the first or second wave, and THEN had Dixie done the "I Invited Them" bit.
(Actually, I personally could have done without Dixie at all ;->)

Just a twinge on the copycat side, but, all in all, pretty durn good.

my only complaint is that they should have done it back in the old days of tna when people still cared about ecw... don't get me wrong, i loved ecw, but it has lost its meaning now.

Maybe. But for me, the execution was MUCH better than anything that has happened with the Nexus so far.

The Nexus has made me tolerate David Otunga. That's a "win" right there.

I didn't like the whole Cena-Nexus "does Cena want to join Nexus?" thing on RAW, neither Cena's tease of joining (no way at all he actually joins them) and Nexus actually offering him a spot was just...odd. Bret allegedly wrestling in another match seems silly, especially against actual wrestlers and not in against another non-wrestler.
As for ECW, TNA riding this nostalgia train seems foolish. When WWE did the ECW One Night Stand events it was a good nostalgia pop for the old ECW wrestlers involved as well as the style. But by now I think what nostalgia remains for ECW is not really for the wrestlers themselves - who are all getting long in the tooth and many were pretty limited guys to begin with - but for the style: brash, attitude, weapons, not PG. WWE is so sanitized people long for a day when someone getting choked with their tie was not a fireable offense and you could drop an F-bomb.
TNA is far closer to that attitude (and/or Attitude, which was essentially just ECW down a notch and with a better budget) than WWE, especially after they nixed the ECW brand - which had stopped being extreme in any sense of the word anyway. If they wanted to stage an extreme invasion that wouldn't be a bad idea because it taps into the longing for that attitude. But I feel like staging an ECW invasion is going to burn itself out because nobody really cares about guys like Tommy Dreamer who haven't been relevant in 5+ years. I think a better idea would've been to combine some ECW alums like the Dudleys and Raven in conjunction with some hardcore indy guys (raid CZW?) and focus on the attitude not the brand. Recognizable ECW alums give the angle more credibility while helping pass the torch to newer guys.

RVD, Dudleys, Richards, and Rhyno are about the only guys who can still put on a match at the same level they could in ECW.
Not saying the other guys (Raven and Dreamer, specifically) can't put on a good match, but after watching through Barely Legal, and then watching them more recently, it's MORE than obvious that neither of them have the conditioning to do those types of matches anymore.
Strangely enough, WWE-era Sandman was in *MUCH* better shape, and a LOT more fun to watch than old school Sandman.
I found myself getting very bored with some of his matches in 95/96 because he'd do four or five moves, then SIT ON THE CANVAS for nearly two minutes at a time, sucking air. In WWE-ECW, at least he was doing his thing from start to finish without a problem.
As for mixing Old and New, I agree 100%. Hell, TNA's got guys in the X-Division and tag division, as well as "normal" guys that could be "repackaged" as "New ECW Crew". The Pope should know about that.

What if they brought in Jerry Lynn to have a few more matches with RVD?

I haven't seen JL in a long time, but the last time I saw him he was... Well... Large. I've heard he's gotten back into shape since, though, so... Sure, why not? We already know JL and RVD have "it" in the ring.
If JL's in shape, let them feud over the belt, let them tear down the house, and let the fans have fun.
