I originally posted this on the old forums a while ago, but received no response. I forgot about it, but now decided that I wanted to get back into TNM, since my fed hasn't been updated since 2003.
But now I can't because TNM doesn't work on Windows 7. I installed DOSBox and VirtualBox, but can't figure out how to use either one. Can someone help me? My mind wasn't into TNM, but now when I have my creative juices flowing, I can't. Please help me. Is there a way to use TNM on Windows 7 or do I have to run it on my old computer and then copy the results to my new computer so I can post them? Thanks.

I've used DOSbox before; it was probably a little easier for me since I remember using computers back in the days of DOS. Assuming it hasn't changed lately and doesn't work differently in Windows 7 than it does in Vista:
If you have TNM in the c:\tnm7 directory
1) Start DOSbox
2) type "mount c c:\tnm7" without the quotation marks then hit enter
3) type "c:" without the quotation marks then hit enter
4) type "tnm" without the quotation marks then hit enter
5) When you're done with TNM, in the DOSbox command prompt type "exit" without the quotation marks then hit enter and it will close DOXbos

The best option would be to upgrade your Windows 7 to enable XP Mode. That's what I did and TNM 7 works perfectly.

Thanks for your suggestions. I installed DOSBox, typed everything that's listed, but it still doesn't start. Then, I installed Virtual XP, but it says "Cannot start Windows Virtual PC Host Process. Check the System event log for more details. Windows Virtual PC requires hardware-assisted virtualization. There is no hardware-assisted virtualization support in n the system." Can anyone help me or should I just use TNM off my old computer?

Thanks for the link, but I still can't get TNM to work. It's no big deal. Since I still have my old computer, what I will do is set-up the matches and run them off my old computer, then e-mail the results to myself and download them on my new computer, copy them into my text file w/my promos and then post them. Thanks for the all help, but one way or another the WCWF & DZW will be back.

I went ahead and emailed Oliver and I figured the 64-bit part would be the problem and it is. Need W7 Pro or above for Virtual XP.

Short version: TNM is still, at its heart, a 16-bit DOS app.
Windows x64 (Whether it's XP, Vista, or 7) doesn't run 16-bit apps (DOS or otherwise)
DosBox works fine on Windows 7 for TNM, however you cannot run any Windows-based plugins.
VirtualXP is just Microsoft Virtual PC with XP pre-installed. Depending on your system, this can be fine for TNM or it can be painfully slow.
Short of Oliver re-compiling TNM as a native 32-bit or 64-bit app, you will always need some sort of emulator/virtual machine to run TNM on anything other than 32-bit or older operating systems.

Wow, I'm glad I read this. I just got a new Laptop with windows 7 and was thinking of moving my TNM to an external hard drive so I can play it on multiple computers, now it doesnt seem like its worth the hassle. I currently run my fed off of a macbook pro with Vista on it.

Running it with Virtual PC/XP and it works just like it would without in terms of speed. Good enough for me!
