------------------------------------------------------------------- May 2011
Tonight's show starts with Bam Bam Bigelow coming to the ring with the HSW Heavyweight Title. Bam Bam says he normally doesn't talk, but when he does, he backs up his words in the ring. Tonight he has three warnings. First, Mike Awesome. Bigelow says he respects the man, and this is the second time they're meeting. He warns Awesome that he plans to ride the wave up the top a whole lot longer, and he's not going to let Awesome derail him. Second, Randy Savage. He warns Savage that he does not trust him. While he's spent the past few months helping build HSW, Randy Savage just walks in and thinks he's going to be a top dog. He knows Randy is in control tonight, but warns him if Bam Bam gets screwed, Bam Bam gets angry. Third, Captain Lou and his monsters. Lou has been trying to weasel his way into everything that is Bam Bam's business. Lou may have monsters, but Bam Bam has friends, and there is no way Lou is taking him down, no matter how much he tries. Bam Bam leaves the ring, title in hand.
Test vs. Chris Candido
Our first match of the night was supposed to be Test vs. Chris Candido. Candido has been part of Bam Bam's fight vs. Captain Lou's Monsters and has had a good number of battles with them. Well, tonight was no different as the match started with Captain Lou and Boss Man escorting Test out to the ring. A minute into the match, Captain Lou tried to trip Candido. As Candido chased Captain Lou on the outside, Test distracted the referee. Candido came around the corner, and didn't see Boss Man in wait, nailing Candido with a Boss Man slam. The ref saw Candido knocked out on the outside, and had suspicions, but had no choice but to count out Chris Candido.
Test defeated Chris Candido by countout in 0:01:48. Rating: * 3/4
Umaga vs. Trent Acid
Umaga has been showing he's a tough bastard around here, dominating almost everyone. Tonight was no different as Trent Acid fell victim to Umaga. Near the end of the match, Kanyon was shown in the crowd, trying to play mind games with Umaga. Umaga just blew him off, and stared into his direction as he nailed Trent Acid with the Samoan Spike.
Umaga pinned Trent Acid with the Samoan Spike in 0:12:59. Rating: *** 1/4
Kanyon vs. Pitbull 2
Kanyon wisely waited until Umaga had left the ring area until making his way to the ring. This week he had a huge challenge in another big man Pitbull 2. Kanyon isn't exactly tiny, and completely used his speed to his advantage. Pitbull 2 nearly had Kanyon and took him to the ropes to hit him with the Superbomb. Kanyon countered with a huge backdrop, then climb the ropes for a rare moonsault and the win. Before he even had the chance to celebrate, out came running Umaga, but Kanyon narrowly escaped.
Kanyon pinned Pitbull 2 after a moonsault in 0:07:23. Rating: *** 1/4
Chris Benoit vs. Earthquake
Chris Benoit was in for some revenge tonight after countless attacks. Or...so he thought. Earthquake was waiting in the ring, but Benoit was nowhere to be seen. Our cameras went backstage and found Boss Man and Test running away. When the camera followed where they came from, Benoit was shown laid out.
Eathquake and Captain Lou were in the ring celebrating, but Jack Tunney came out and said Earthquake was still going to compete. With tonight's major players wrapped up, Ludvig Borga was sent out to battle Earthquake. Borga actually looked good for a while, but Earthquake just does not go down easily. Right before Earthquake nailed the Earthquake splash, down came the beaten duo of Benoit and Candido. They rolled into the ring and went after Earthquake. The ref rang the bell in Earthquake's favor. Earthquake actually clotheslined both Chris' and stood above their fallen bodies.
Earthquake defeated Ludvig Borga by disqualification in 0:12:02. Rating: * 1/4 [Capt. Lou Albano interfered against Ludvig Borga.] (Chris Benoit no-showed.)
#1 Contenders Match for HSW Tag Team Titles Steve Williams & Terry Gordy vs, Eddie Guerrero & Curt Hennig
Sherri Martel led her team into battle, and for the first time they actually acted as a coesive unit. Hennig and Eddie are both ring generals and did everything they could to control the match. Unfortunately for them Gordy and Williams have been tagging for years and did not simply roll over. Both teams had near falls they were broken up at the last second. Both teams battle with tenacity that has been unseen. Even with Sherri getting involed, Williams and Gordy just would not give up. Mid-action, all of a sudden the bell rang and it was announced that time had expired. All 4 men, and Sherri, turned their frustrations at the ref, yelling at him and demanding a finish.
Out came Jack Tunney. He announced the match will not continue. Not tonight anyway. Next month, we will see a Triple Threat match for the tag team titles, with NO time limit.
#1 Contenders Match: Curt Hennig and Eddie Guerrero and Steve Williams and Terry Gordy battled to a draw in 0:20:00. Rating: *** [Sherri Martel interfered against Steve Williams.]
HSW Heavyweight title: Bam Bam Bigelow (C) vs. Mike Awesome w/ Special Guest Referee "Macho Man" Randy Savage
Round 2 in this epic battle, and it was one of the best matches in HSW thus far. Randy Savage tried to stay impartial as possible, warning both men of disqualifications for chokes, using the ropes, etc. About ten minutes in, down came Lou with all 3 monsters, riding the night high. Mike Awesome whipped Bam Bam into the ropes, and Bigelow was tripped by Captain Lou. As Bigelow stumbled into a monstrous clothesline, Randy Savage decided to take things into his own hands. Savage climbed the top rope and came off with a Double Ax Handle to Earthquake. Unfortunately, as Savage brawled with the Monsters, Awesome had hit Bam Bam with the Awesomebomb and was waiting for a three count. Savage got the monsters away and climbed back into the ring to count, but Bam Bam kicked out at 2. As Awesome argued with Savage, and even tried to hit him, Savage countered with a punch back. Awesome was rocked back, into Bam Bam's waiting arms. Bam Bam got the 3 count and defended his title, defeating Mike Awesome once again.
Match with Special Referee Randy Savage Bam Bam Bigelow pinned Mike Awesome with the Greetings from Asbury Park in 0:13:11. Rating: **** (Bam Bam Bigelow retained the HSW Heavyweight title.)
