Hi Guys. I thought I would post the history of my River City Wrestling, which has been going on for over 30 years in one form or another. Yes there have been gaps which I have filled retroactively but I have lots of material in regards to champions and rosters to work with to stay true to what the circuit was meant to be ~ my tribute to the wrestlers who I loved to watch, and a chance to create wrestlers and give them the chance to do something I was never able to. Some cards will be summary only, some very detailed, and others somewhere in between.

As near as I can figure it, it was the summer of 1979. When we originally began this circuit I have no idea what it was called, but we dated it back to January 1979. I have bumped it up to 1980 to fit in better with my later paper and pen circuits. These first cards were run in my friend Chris' backyard - yes there has always been "backyard wrestling". The whole thing as I remember was spawned out of Chris ordering this really cool "Intelligent, Sensational, Destroyer" mask from a wrestling mag. Couple this with the very cool Super Destroyer Mark II, and we had our own masked hero "The Destroyer". Chris played the role of Chris Lyon. This is not a rip-off of Chris Jericho, but rather a name we came up with in '79 because Chris thought his last name sounded kind of "faerie" like. The Lyon last name was from a different side of my family. It seemed to fit him well. Since Chris was under the mask as the Destroyer, he also made Chris Lyon a good guy (because it simplified our matchmaking of good v bad). Mike Valiant was born because my mother drove a Valiant. Besides Chris and myself we were joined by two more friends John (J.P. Moran) and Eric (Eric Lee). Eric was the only one to use his actual last name - with a martial arts gimmick of course! We used some of our favorite AWA second-stringers as we called them back then to fill out the cards. Dean Jarrett was based on a friend of our's Dean, but Jarrett was taken I assume from the race car driver, or Jerry Jarrett. Dean's real last name started with a J, and he was legitimate related (nephew?) to Moose Morowski, the pro wrestler. One day Dean had me over to his house and showed me his autographed photos of the Black Avenger. We got him as part of the British Columbia booking office which was carried on one of our TV stations. He told me then that the man under the mask was his uncle Moose Morowski. Sure enough a few months later Black Avenger would be unmasked to be Moose. It was from that situation that the Dean Jarrett - Moose Morowski alliance was hatched.

[glow=red,2,300]February 2, 1980 River City Wrestling #3 - Salisbury School, Winnipeg, Manitoba[/glow] Timmy Rich over Kenny Jay by pinfall after a crucifix in less than a minute. 0:54 Black Avenger over Puppy Dog Pelequin after a backbreaker. 4:11 Mike & Tom Stone over Nacho Buerrera and Blackie Guzman after Mike pinned Guzman with a piledriver. 6:27 Six-Man Tag Match: Chris Lyons, J.P. Moran and Eric Lee over Vegas Brothers and Mike Valiant when Lyons pinned Valiant after a spinebuster slam. 18:02 Heavyweight Championship Match: The Destroyer and Dean Jarrett went to a double countout, after a lot of interference by Black Avenger. 25:40 [The Destroyer retains the RCW Heavyweight Championship] [glow=red,2,300]February 16, 1980 River City Wrestling #4 - Salisbury School, Winnipeg, Manitoba[/glow] J.P. Moran over Nacho Buerrera by submission with the Indian Deathlock. 6:41 RCW Tag Team Title Defense Vegas Brothers over The Stone Brothers by pinfall after Dice pinned T.Stone. 10:35 Canadian Heavyweight Championship Defense [guest appearance] Dino Bravo over The Black Avenger after an airplane spin. 17:05 [Dino Bravo retains the Canadian Heavyweight Championship] **this belt is the one recognized out of the Maple Leaf booking office. Tennessee State Junior Heavyweight Championship Defense Timmy Rich over Eric Lee by disqualification when Rich used brass knuckles. 8:18 [Timmy Rich retains the Tennessee State Junior Heavyweight Championship] **this belt was quickly discovered to be a bogus belt, of Rich's own creation. Mike Valiant over Chris Lyons in a no-dq streetfight after Valiant powerbombed Lyons off of a car onto the road. 16:30 CAGE MATCHRCW Heavyweight Title Defense The Destroyer over Dean Jarrett by submission with the Boston Crab. Jarrett was bloodied. 28:47 [The Destroyer retains the RCW Heavyweight Title] Post-Match The Black Avenger entered the ring and bloodied The Destroyer. By this time I think it was already Chris and I as the lone people running the fed, with John & Eric losing interest (they weren't really big wrestling fans anyway). This would help explain their descent down the card's pecking order Timmy Rich was added after we discovered that someone under that name was advertised to wrestle at Chalmers for the local indy (can't remember if it was RCW at that time). It was an obvious ploy to make some people buy tickets thinking it was Tommy Rich. We added our own second "rip-off" guy (or maybe he was another misleading advertisement, but I dont think so). The second guy's name was Dusty Streets (a combination of Dusty Rhodes and Adrian Street). The false belt was added by me much later in the history to go along with this scam artist from way down south. Chris and I both really liked the idea of having a "higher" title and chose the Candian title which had been out of the Maple Leaf booking office, but that Dino Bravo had magically appeared in the AWA wearing. We decided to use that as our offical "higher" title.

So all of these cards were done with pen and paper way back in 1980? That's amazing that you kept the notebooks or whatever you used to keep track of results. I remember doing something similar to this in the early '90s as a child. Too bad I don't have any records of it.
This is an interesting read, especially since you have so much history for it.

Yes. Sometime after I got TNM around 96-97 I found a couple boxes of old wrestling mags. Stuffed inside were a bunch of pen and paper results. But actually much of it was pencil and a lot had faded, plus i had run several feds without dates so had to piece it together..along with some guess work, and filling in the blanks. The first few cards were a version of backyard wrestling but quickly changed into pen and paper. We saw an ad for Strat-o-matic hockey and baseball so started to work on our own dice system which we used.

RCW Heavyweight Championship Match: Mike Valiant beat The Destroyer by countout. 20:35 [The Destroyer retains the RCW Heavyweight Championship]
Lots to talk about. First off Chris and I were already getting pretty bored of the same guys. Left to our own, and both being big KISS fans, well it sort of spawned the first great stable in RCW. Paul Superstar and Demon Gene were the first two rip-offs of KISS to join RCW and rock it to its foundation. The mental images we had of a hot Beth as their manager, all decked out in tight jeans or spandex were also in context of the time.
Credit has to go out to my brother for turning the heel Tag Champions, into the first "tweeners" I had ever experienced. I remember him cutting a promo, about how the fans would cheer us against Jarrett/Morowski. I piped in that they could keep their cheers to themselves, only to be overuled by big brother Kenny Deeler who said it would be nice to hear the cheers for a change. As much as the fans disliked The Vegas Brothers, they hated Jarret & Moose more.
Another big decision was to have Canadian Champ Dino Bravo (a face) pin our champion The Destroyer (also a face) perhaps destroying all the credibility as an unbeaten champ that he had built up this year. Still, we believed highly in the Canadian title and didn't quite grasp the concept of a travelling champ playing the subtle heel to put over the local champion. It was actually a tough month for the champ losing one match by pinfall and another by countout. Is the paint starting to crack on the champion?

[glow=red,2,300]June 7, 1980 River City Wrestling #12 - Salisbury School, Winnipeg, Manitoba[/glow] Paul Superstar over J.P. Moran by pinfall after a flying elbowsmash in less than 2 minutes. 1:40 Chris Lyons over Demon Gene by disqualification after Gene used a chair to damage the leg of Lyons. 7:14 **Lyons had to be taken out on a stretcher after the match. However, Paul Superstar and Demon Gene attacked Lyons on the stretcher. Oddly enough it was the Vegas Brothers who came to the aid of Lyons. No-time Limit Match: Clarke Roenick over Frank Hill by pinfall after a powerbomb after over 32 minutes of action. 32:19 Six-Man Tag Match Eric Lee, Dean Jarrett, and Moose Morowski over George Gadasky, Puppy Dog Pelequin, and Kenny Jay when Jarrett made Jay submit to the brainbuster. 10:40 RCW Tag Team Championship Match Vegas Brothers over Tom & Mike Stone by disqualification when Demon Gene and Paul Superstar interfered. 14:42 [Vegas Brothers retain the RCW Tag Team Championship] **After the match it was a 4 on 2 beating until Moran tried to rescue the Vegas Brothers but he too was left laying. Hair v Title (Dusty gets his head shaved or Rich retires the bogus belt) Timmy Rich beat Dusty Street by pinfall after a roll-up aided by a handful of trunks. 12:35 **After the match Rich shaved Streets head. But while he posed Street caught him from behind and nailed him with the title belt. Street left with the title belt. RCW Heavyweight Championship [Return bout]: The Destroyer beat Mike Valiant by submission with the Boston crab after over 26 minutes of action. 26:33 [The Destroyer retains the RCW Heavyweight Championship] [glow=red,2,300]June 21, 1980 River City Wrestling #13 - Salisbury School, Winnipeg, Manitoba[/glow] Eric Lee over Blackie Guzman by pinfall after a Karate kick. 5:15 Cecil DuBois over J.P. Moran after a short arm clothesline. 6:42 Dean Jarrett & Moose Morowski over Tom & Mike Stone when Morowski pinned M.Stone after an avalanche. 10:10 RCW Tag Team Championship Match Vegas Brothers and Demon Gene & Paul Superstar battled to a no-contest in a complete lawless brawl. 8:09 [Vegas Brothers retain the RCW Tag Team Championships] **As a result of this brawl each team will receive a one week suspension. Clarke Roenick & Mike Valiant beat The Destroyer and Frank Hill by pinfall when Roenick pinned Hill after a piledriver. 17:47 Main Event Cage Match No DQ Dusty Street beat Timmy Rich by pinfall after the bionic headbutt. 19:30 **Before the match began the Commissioner made Street return the stolen bogus title to Rich. Rich took it and promptly used it to bust open Street. However, a masked man passed Street a roll of coins through the steel cage which he used to bust open Rich and turn the tide of the match. Random notes; As mentioned before Dusty Street was a rip-off created wrestler; a combination of Dusty Rhodes and Adrian Street. Timmy Rich was also a rip-off of Tommy Rich but a real life rip-off. Clark Roenick was an athletic fairly powerful wrestler who was modeled after my neighbor and friend at the time. The only difference was his name was actually Clarke Rennick and I spelt it wrong. Not sure if that was by accident or intentional. Frank Hill had a short run in the AWA as an opener. He also wrestled around the horn as Jules Strongbow. The Vegas Brothers were a tag team fashioned together by my brother and I because our parents bought us matching "Las Vegas" shirts from their trip A.J. Dice was my moniker (A.J. taken from the show Simon and Simon), and Kenny Deeler was his. Cecil Dubois was also known elsewhere as Alexis Smirnoff, and Michel Dubois. Verne Gagne for some reason decided to have him wrestle as Cecil Dubois during his short stint in the AWA. Nothing screams French like "Cecil". J.P. Moran created as the moniker for my best friend at the time, is starting to plummit down through the card. I have a feeling he and I were no longer getting along around this time The infamous Puppy Dog Pelequin was actually the uncle of Chi Chi Cruz and was a mainstay of local indy's as well as a jobber for AWA. There are large pockets of French Canadians in rural Manitoba and Puppy Dog was from one of the largest. The weird thing is that for the past few years I have been working with one of Puppy Dog's "nephews", not sure how the whole family tree lines up.

Wow - what a discovery. Did you consider creating all the characters in TNM7 and rebooking from the beginning? Or will the circuit eventually get into TNM when you picked the program up in the 90s?

I converted much of it to TNM starting in mid to late 80's, and it flows in and out of TNM and freehand from there on in.

However, after the match as Street and Slim celebrated with Richs title belt, they were attacked by Rich and Jarrett. After a beatdown, Slim was unmasked to reveal..Johnny Rich..Timmys cousin. notes; The Royal Kiwis were our "Australian" rip-off of the Fabulous Kangaroos and the Crazy Kiwis (aka Sheepherders, Bushwackers). They were based on two kids in our neighborhood. The bogus belt of Timmy Rich is having a life of its own as no one has been able to get it off of him. KISS is doing great in RCW, and winning the tag titles is the first big title change in RCW history. Speaking of history, or herstory, we finally discovered women and had a couple of the travelling variety make a stop in RCW. Finally, Greg Valentine is now recognized as the Canadian Heavyweight championship, having "won" it from Dino Bravo.

RCW Heavyweight Title Defense The Destroyer and Timmy Rich wrestled to a 30-minute time limit draw. [The Destroyer retains the RCW Heavyweight Title]
Main Event RCW Tag Team Title Defense Loser Leaves Town Cage Match: The Kiss Army defeated The Vegas Brothers by pinfall after Demon Gene hit A.J. Dice over the head with his boot. 12:01 [KISS Army retains the RCW Tag Team Titles] [Vegas Brothers are out of the RCW]
A lot of just spinning our wheels as of late with characters going from feud to feud. The Vegas Brothers leaving town meant the end of the line for my brother's character in the fed. Even though I lost my A.J. Dice I carried on my Mike Valiant. Kim Guilbert, Brent Beck...more kids from the neighborhood. A couple months in a row where you'll notice a wrestler lose to the Destroyer in the main event, and then have to start all over again in the opening match of the next card.

[glow=red,2,300]November 22, 1980 River City Wrestling #24 Salisbury School, Winnipeg, Manitoba[/glow] Cecil DuBois defeated Dusty Street by pinfall at 12:23 Eric Lee & Brent Beck defeated J.P. Moran & Kim Guilbert by pinfall at 7:10 when Beck pinned Moran after the lariat. Midget Action Lord Littlebrook defeated Little Tokoyo by pinfall at 9:47 after the Giant Swing. Demon Gene defeated Clarke Roenick by submission at 15:01 with the cobra clutch. Chris Lyons & Mike Valiant worked to a 30-minute time limit draw. The Mummy defeated Steve Olsonoski by submission at 9:32 with the full nelson. Main Event: RCW Heavyweight Title Match The Destroyer defeated Demon Gene by pinfall at 18:17 after a crucifix. [The Destroyer retains the RCW Heavyweight Title] **after the match, The Mummy returned to the ring and sneak attacked The Destroyer from behind. After pummeling him to the ground he applied the full nelson to a passed out Destroyer until the dressing room had to clear to free the Destroyer from the move**
Apparently Demon Gene defeated Roenick and then lost to the Destroyer later in the night. I think one of those two matches should have been Paul Superstar. But I don't know which and it was an error on the original booking sheets so I'm just going to leave it. Who knows maybe Superstar was a no-show. The fall battle royale with the winner to get a title shot was one of my favorite AWA traditions so we used it here. Pretty much like the WWF would end up using the Royal Rumble to set up the main event at Wrestlemania, we used the battle royale to set-up the big year end show. Not sure how we booked Steve Olsonoski into a street fight, doesn't seem to fit, but he would have been a big draw compared to the other guys. Shows the talent in RCW progressing some what. The Canadian Heavyweight champions, currently Greg Valentine, continue to go over with some regularity here. You got to love the midgets! Especially the Giant Swing. Chris Lyons and Mike Valiant had what we imagined was a 30 minute classic. This was a big rivalry as the #2 men in the company next to the Destroyer battled it out. It was also the battle of Chris's personea against mine, so there was a lot of pride at stake here.

[glow=red,2,300]December 13, 1980 River City Wrestling #25 Salisbury School, Winnipeg, Canada[/glow]
1st Anniversary Spectacular Opener: Keith McIvor defeated Eric Lee by pinfall with a powerslam at 10:00. Special Match: Cecil DuBois defeated Chris Pepper by pinfall with a bulldog at 6:06. Special Appearance: Clarke Roenick defeated Rene Goulet by reverse decision at 12:51. **International star Rene Goulet looked to have won a hard fought contest over Roenick, thanks to the use of a pair of brass knuckles. However, following the match the referee saw the knux on Goulet's hand as he was trying to hide them and reversed his decision, disqualifying Goulet. Special Match: Steve Olsonoski defeated Brent Beck by pinfall with a flying dropkick at 9:35 Battling Beauties Match: Texas Sue defeated Black Widow by pinfall with an inside cradle at 14:49. Loser Leaves Town Match: Anything Goes Rules; Frank Hill defeated Dusty Street by pinfall following outside interference by Brent Beck, at 18:09 **Dusty Street is gone from RCW No-Time Limit Match Chris Lyons defeated Mike Valiant by submission with a half-nelson at 33:20. RCW Tag Team Title Match KISS v KISS (Stable mates v Stable Mates) KISS Army (Demon Gene & Paul Superstar) defeated KISS Army (Chrisscat & Ace) by pinfall following a double team necksnap off the top rope at 17:43. [KISS Army (Demon Gene & Paul Superstar) retain the RCW Tag Team Titles] **Demon Gene and Paul Superstar were not too happy about RCW officials declaring that the #1 team to challenge them would be their own stablemates. For their part Chrisscat & Ace seemed pleased to get the opportunity. Both teams fought hard and dirty but the champions took it a step further and blatantly cheated to pick up the win. Following the match Chrisscat grabbed a mic and said he was sick and tired of the elitist attitudes of the tag champions, and that he would be better off on his own. He quit the Kiss Army and left the ring in disgust. Gene & Paul just laughed at him as he left. They then asked Ace how he stood. Ace said he was still cool with the Kiss Army. Gene & Paul thanked him for his loyalty however by proceeding to beat him down. MAIN EVENT RCW Heavyweight Championship Match The Destroyer defeated The Mummy by pinfall with an atomic drop followed by a belly-to-back suplex at 20:34. [The Destroyer retains the RCW Heavyweight Title] **Post-Match: The Mummy attacked The Destroyer with a lead pipe. He managed to do enough damage before Chris Lyons and Steve Olsonoski could make the save that The Destroyer had to be taken from the ring in a stretcher.
The 1st year of RCW ends with another tradition of the circuit the big year end show. Always seemed to me that wrestling, like other sports should sort of have seasons. So I built in a mid-December year end show and then the better part of a month off. Probably not realistic but it was a good time to do it, with the bad winters around here for travelling, and over the Christmas season. Some of the big names in AWA like Bockwinkel would sometimes go south for a few weeks to places like Houston. They would work a few matches so they could write off the vacation as business expenses. In later years RCW would work with a federation in South Africa doing this very thing. Part of the year end show tradition would be brining in outside talent. This year it was only Rene Goulet and a women's match, but this would explode in the years to come. Instead of just being an ending however, the year end show also marked the start of two feuds; the break-up of the KISS stable, and the Destroyer-Mummy feud. It was a good thing that the fed would have a month off before the next card as it looked like Destroyer was going to need some time to recover from the post match beating he received. Next week I will continue with 1981!

[glow=red,2,300]January 24, 1981 River City Wrestling #26 Chalmers Community Club, Winnipeg, Manitoba[/glow] RCW Heavyweight Championship Tournament
RCW Officials have had no choice but to strip the Destroyer of his RCW title that he held for all of last year. The Destroyer has been unable to defend his title over the past 30 days due to injuries, and was unable to defend it here tonight. So, the title has been declared vacant and an 8-man tournament held to declare a new champion. This also marks the first card by RCW away from Salisbury School and into their new home at Chalmers C.C.
Quarter-Finals Steve Olsonoski defeated Mike Valiant by pinfall with the flying dropkick at 11:53 The Mummy defeated Brad Rheinghans by pinfall with a thumb to the throat at 14:05. Chris Lyons defeated Brent Beck by submission with the Boston Crab at 8:08. Cecil DuBois defeated Clarke Roenick by pinfall after a bottom rope slingshot choke at 7:39. Semi-Finals The Mummy defeated Steve Olsonoski by submission with the Arabian Spike at 15:02. Chris Lyons defeated Cecil DuBois by countout at 21:06. RCW Tag Team Title Match KISS Army (Demon Gene & Paul Superstar) defeated Chrisscat & Chris Pepper by pinfall when Paul pinned Pepper after a reverse neckbreaker at 9:30. [KISS Army (Demon Gene & Paul Superstar) retain the RCW Tag Titles] Final Chris Lyons defeated The Mummy by pinfall with a German Suplex at 21:01. [Chris Lyons wins the RCW Heavyweight Championship]

[glow=red,2,300]February 14, 1981 River City Wrestling #27 Chalmers Community Club, Winnipeg, Manitoba[/glow] Kenny Ho made a successful premiere defeating Nacho Buerrera by submission with the Shanghai brainbuster at 6:21. Eric Frehl defeated Frank Hill by disqualification when Hill got himself intentionally DQ'd for a low blow instead of facing what looked like an inevtiable loss to the barefoot newcomer from the west coast, at 12:44. #1 Contenders Match Roughnecks: Stan Rodgers & Russel Riggs defeated Chrisscat & Chris Pepper by pinfall when Rodgers pinned Chrisscat after a roundhouse right at 8:04. **Rodgers and Riggs are newcomers to RCW and looked very impressive. Rodgers is a big guy coming in at about 6'6 330 lbs, while Riggs also has a fairbit of size at 6'4 280 lbs. This sets up a title match between two villian teams KISS Army v Roughnecks. Return Match: Mike Valiant defeated Steve Olsonoski by pinfall with the crucifix at 9:56. **Valiant gets his revenge for his loss to Steve O at the title tourney in January. #1 Contenders Match; The Destroyer Returns to RCW The Mummy ruined the return of the Destroyer defeating him by pinfall following a thumb to the throat and draping his feet over the bottom rope for extra leverage, at 18:09. RCW Tag Team Title Match The KISS Army (Demon Gene & Paul Superstar) defeated Clarke Roenick & Kenny Jay by pinfall when Gene pinned Jay following a stomp from the second rope at 10:30. [KISS Army (Demon Gene & Paul Superstar) retained the RCW Tag Titles] Main Event CANADIAN HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH Angelo Mosca (Canadian Champ) v Chris Lyons (River City Champ) Mosca was forced to cheat through most of this match to keep down the high flying attack of Lyons, who for his part had to abandon much of his submission based game plan because of Mosca's size and strength. Mosca used illegal chokeholds and a shot to the ringpost to weaken Lyons. The new Canadian champion making his debut in RCW picked up the victory by submission with his Mosca Full Nelson at 17:33. [Angelo Mosca retained the Canadian Heavyweight Title]
notes; Not sure why we only ran one card in February. I understand only 1 card in January because of the break coming off the year end show. Kenny Ho was based off another friend of mine. Funny story but after having lost touch with Kenny back around 1983-84 became his facebook friend a few months back. Oh the power of social media. Happy to report he is as much a scoundrel as he ever was. Eric Frehl was supposed to be Eric Froelich from All-Star wrestling in BC (Tomko). Not sure if we mispelt that on purpose or not but decided to stay with the spelling in the notes. Roughnecks were created, actually based on an arcade wrestling game. I have no idea what it was called or how literal these translations were. I remember the heavweight champ in the game was a blond guy like a Ric Flair/Nick Bockwinkel type called Rusty Blues or something like that. This big Texas tag team was based off other characters in that game but have no other info on their origin. KISS Army had to defend their tag titles against Clarke Roenick and Kenny Jay despite the challengers never having teamed before. This looks weak but there are two things to remember. First, even though we numbered the cards, there was always this feeling that we ran cards in other smaller centers but titles rarely changed hands at these spot shows. We just kind of "assumed" these shows happened. So maybe Roenick and Jay won a #1 contenders match in Plum Coulee? Who knows. The other thing was that except for the year end, we really tried to be sticklers to making the champs defend their titles every 30 days. So with no clear cut #1 tag contenders in sight it was a way to get KISS to complete that obligation. Once again the Canadian champ, this time Angelo Mosca, goes over on our local champ. Not sure we really thought of this as making us look weak, but we realized there was a "step" down from guys like Mosca/Valentine/Bravo to our local guys. As long as our guys game them a good run for their money we were fine with losing at this point.

[glow=red,2,300]March 7, 1981 River City Wrestling #28 Chalmers Community Club, Winnipeg, Manitoba[/glow] Cecil DuBois defeated Keith McIvor by pinfall after a bottom rope slingshot choke at 10:31 Kenny Ho & Eric Lee defeated Chrisscat & Chris Pepper by pinfall when Lee pinned Chrisscat after a Karate kick at 6:02 Return Match: Frank Hill and Eric Frehl battled to a time limit draw, 25:00 Steve Olsonoski & Brad Rheinghans defeated Mike & Tom Stone by pinfall when Olsonoski pinned M. Stone after a flying dropkick at 8:40. The Destroyer defeated Brent Beck by submission with the Gory Lock at 5:55. RCW Tag Team Title Match The Roughnecks (Stan Rodgers & Russel Riggs) defeated the KISS Army (Demon Gene & Paul Superstar) by pinfall when Riggs pinned Superstar after a piledriver at 15:58. [The Roughnecks win the RCW Tag Team Titles] **Chrisscat came down to the ring during the match when the Kiss Army was double teaming Riggs outside the ring, and took care of Paul, which allowed Riggs to make a comeback against Gene, and eventually make a tag. MAIN EVENT RCW Heavyweight Championship Match Chris Lyons (ch) v The Mummy Lyons had to overcome the savagery of the Mummy. It didn't look like he would be able to do that, as he was bleeding profusely, but The Destroyer came down to ringside to offer advice to Lyons throughout the rest of the bout. His advice seemed to work on several occasions, and this frustrated the Mummy into attacking Destroyer. Lyons then took out the Mummy from behind and locked him into the Boston Crab. The Mummy never gave up but eventually his hand was held up and fell down 3 times for the win at 22:39 [Chris Lyons retains the RCW Heavyweight Title]
[glow=red,2,300]March 28, 1981 River City Wrestling #29 Chalmers Community Club, Winnipeg, Manitoba[/glow]
**Prior to the night's action starting, The Mummy came to the ring, but he was not alone as he has been in the past. He was led to the ring by an Arabian man who quickly introduced himself as Shiek Fal-Had. The Shiek said his man the Mummy was cheated last card when The Destroyer appeared at ringside alongside Chris Lyons to manage him without holding a valid RCW manager's license. Shiek says he obtained one this week and will be managing his man in a return match tonight. He then challenged champion Chris Lyons to make it a cage match. The cage was already here tonight to be used in the heated re-match between The Roughnecks and the KISS Army for the tag belts. Lyons came to ringside and accepted the match inside the steel cage. The Destroyer came out and tried to talk Lyons out of it saying the Mummy was a savage, but Lyons insisted that for his honor to stand he would have to take the match.** Clarke Roenick defeated Mike Stone by pinfall after a double stomp from the 2nd turnbuckle at 4:03. Mike Valiant defeated Chrisscat by pinfall after a flying clothesline from the 2nd rope at 6:41. #1 Contenders Match Steve Olsonoski & Brad Rheinghans defeated Kenny Ho & Eric Lee when Rheinghans pinned Lee following a German suplex at 16:36. #1 Contenders Match The Destroyer defeated Cecil DuBois by pinfall when DuBois' shoulders were counted to the mat while in an Indian Deathlock, at 20:05. No Countout-No DQ-No time limit Match Frank Hill defeated Eric Frehl by pinfall with a tomahawk chop off the top rope at 14:38 in a wild brawl that saw both men busted open from chair shots. CAGE MATCH RCW Tag Team Championship Match The Roughnecks (Stan Rodgers & Russel Riggs) defeated the Kiss Army (Demon Gene & Paul Superstar) when Rodgers pinned Superstar, catching him as he tried for a elbowsmash off the cage wall and turned it into a spinebuster slam for the win at 13:12. [The Roughnecks retain the RCW Tag Team Titles] MAIN EVENT CAGE MATCH RCW Heavyweight Title Match Chris Lyons (ch) v The Mummy (/w Shiek Fal-Had) -Lyons was a house on fire for most of this match, until Fal-Had passed the Mummy a nail file that he stuck into his bandages, and then used on Lyons whenever the opportunity presented itself. The biggest opportunity came when the Destroyer came down to ringside to complain to the referee, and then when Shiek Fal-Had got into his face he dropped the manager with a right hand. All of this action however distracted the ref and allowed The Mummy to savage Lyons with the nail file as well as bites. Lyons' face was a bloodied mess. The Mummy put on the Arabian Spike nervehold and Lyons' was out in seconds. The Mummy wins via submission at 16:16. [The Mummy won the RCW Heavyweight Championship]
notes; The first written angles/feuds started to appear around this time. Of course I had to team Kenny Ho & Eric Lee together, I mean they were both Asian friends of mine, and this is pro wrestling after all. It didn't take long for the Roughnecks to win the tag belts. Interesting that the top talent was still all created wrestlers for the most part. Loved the use of the "manager's license" very Wally Karbo like. Brad Rheinghans tagged with Steve O, nice tag team there. Watching The Destroyer take part in mid-card without the Heavyweight strap was a bit surreal, even though he only held the title for a year, he always felt like our champ. This was a bit like watching Hogan compete in the WWF when Warrior or Savage was champ instead. Just seemed a bit off. We always treated the Mummy like a created wrestler, assuming it was just a local rip-off, but it was largely based on the Mummy from the 1960's which I believe was done by Benji Ramirez??? Something like that. Jerry Lawler ran a bunch of monster gimmicks through Memphis at one time too. Both championships changed hands this month. The Mummy is our 3rd Heavyweight champ in 15 months, and the Roughnecks our 3rd tag champs. This symetry of booking cycles continues to rear its ugly head even to this day in RCW/APW.

Was surprised the Mummy took the title. I like him in a USWA champ way until the Destroyer gets the title back.
You are right, it was weird reading the Destroyer in the mid-card and not fighting for the Heavyweight Title.

[glow=red,2,300]April 11, 1981 River City Wrestling #30 Chalmers Community Club, Winnipeg, Manitoba[/glow]
Opening Bout - Midget Action !! Little Beast defeated Kid Taco by pinfall after using a steel chair with the referee knocked out, at 6:23. Kenny Ho defeated Clarke Roenick by pinfall after a karate chop to the throat at 9:22 Return of the Royal Kiwis Kelly Hobin returned to action from a broken ankle Royal Kiwi's: Kelly Hobin & Keith McIvor defeated Brent Beck & Mike Valiant by countout at 12:01. The makeshift duo of villians became so enraged at their lack of success in the match that they finally threw in the towel and left the ringside area. Women in Action Pepper LaBianca defeated rookie Jeannie Rahib by pinfall at 4:38 thanks to midget Little Beast coming down to ringside and holding the feet of Rahib on the cover, following a bodyslam, to make the kickout impossible. RCW Tag Team Title Match Loser Leaves Town The Roughnecks: Stan Rodgers & Russel Riggs (champions) v KISS Army: Paul Superstar & Demon Gene Hard fought match between these two villianous teams, with the fans siding with the champions. Both sides cheated every which way they could manage, but the KISS Army managed to control most of the match, with Riggs taking most of the punishment. A come from behind victory though was effected by a well rested Rodgers who cleaned house on both his opponents, and received some final help from former KISS Army member Chrisscat who came down to ringside to haul Gene off the canvas when he was going to enter the ring and breakup the pin attempt. The Roughnecks beat the KISS Army by pinfall when Rodgers pinned Superstar following a flying bulldog at 16:53 [The Roughnecks retain the RCW Tag Team Titles] MAIN EVENT RCW Heavyweight Title Match Return Bout The Mummy (/w Shiek Fal-Had) (champion) v Chris Lyon Lyon gave it all he had to regain his RCW title, but was overmatched by the viciousness of the Mummy, a hidden nail file, outside interference by the Shiek, and the raw power of the Mummy. In the end Lyon was bloodied and defeated. The Mummy defeated Chris Lyon by submission with the Asiatic Spike at 13:03. [The Mummy retains the RCW Heavyweight Title] After the match The Mummy continued to attack Lyon and used the nail file on his already bloodied head. The Shiek distrcted the ref to allow this to happen, until finally the Destroyer came running in from the back and broke it up sending the Mummy over the top rope.
[glow=red,2,300]April 25, 1981 River City Wrestling #31 Chalmers Community Club, Winnipeg, Manitoba[/glow] Premiere of Pepe Villa Chris Pepper beat Pepe Villa by pinfall at 5:40 after a shoulderbreaker. Premiere of Ashley Shade Ashley Shade beat Tom Stone by pinfall at 6:38 with a victory roll following an earringer. Return Bout Kenny Ho once again defeated Clarke Roenick by pinfall following an illegal karate chp to the throat at 11:13. Mixed Tag Match - Women & Midgets Jeannie Rahib & Kid Taco got the victory and revenge over Pepper LaBianco & Little Beast when Taco pinned LaBianco following a top rope splash at 8:58. RCW Tag Team Title Match The Roughnecks: Stan Rodgers & Russel Riggs (champions) v Brad Rheinghas & Steve Olsonoski Brad & Steve has previously won a #1 contenders match to win this title shot. They made the most of it and would have pulled off the win but Riggs broke up a pin attempt by smashing Steve O with a steel chair to garner the automatic DQ. [Rheinghans & Olsonoski beat The Roughnecks by disqualification at 17:24] [The Roughnecks retain the RCW Tag Team Titles] MAIN EVENT Non-Title Match No Disqualification - Strap Match **If the Destroyer wins he gets a title shot next card The Mummy (/w Shiek Fal-Had) v The Destroyer (/w Chris Lyon) This match was made out of the fallout from the main event last card. Lyon was to keep an eye on the Shiek. It was a brawl of a match that the Mummy controlled the first 10 minutes, and bloodied the masked head of the Destroyer as well as his arm and chest. When the Destroyer took over control it was also time for the Shiek to try and interfere to help his man. He tried to pass a nail file to the Mummy but it was intercepted by Chris Lyon. The Destroyer was now in charge of the match and getting the fans all revved up. At this point Chris Lyon must have thought his work was done as he left the ringside area. Soon enough the Mummy was able to regain control thanks to a timely chair shot by the Shiek. The Mummy dragged The Destroyer to all four corners for the win. [The Mummy beat The Destroyer in a strap match at 14:11] After the match the Mummy and the Shiek continued to beat up on the Destroyer. Finally it was Brad Rheinghans and Steve Olsonoski coming to his aid. Chris Lyon was conspicuous by his absence.
notes; subtle change in name, Chris Lyons now being billed as Chris Lyon. Not so subtle change in attitude. KISS Army is gone.

RCW matchmaker came to the ring and announced that due to the finish of last card's main event, RCW officials do not believe that there is a definitive #1 challenger for the RCW Heavyweight title. Therefore, after our opening bout tonight we will have a 20-man battle royal to decide a #1 contender. Due to the 30-day defense rule of RCW that title match will occur as the main event tonight. Opening Bout: Chrisscat beat Eric Lee by pinfall at 6:09 with a legdrop from the second rope. 20-Man Battle Royal: Winner To Get RCW Heavyweight Title Shot Tonight List in order of elimination and (who eliminated them) and time of elimination 20. Mike Valiant (Steve O & Rheinghans) 13:12 2. Brad Rheinghans (Steve O) 17:07 Winner: Steve Olsonoski Tension continued to mount between The Destoyer and Chris Lyon in this match and it boiled over while both were trying to eliminate Frank Hill. Lyon left the scene, but then attacked Destroyer from behind and tossed him over the top rope, to a shocked crowd. Lyon paused long enough to shout at the fans before resuming. He then seemed to develop a partnership with one of his arch-rivals Mike Valiant. This lasted until late in the match when Valiant found his opening and turned on Lyon to eliminate him. Rheinghans and Steve O fought one on one for 4 minutes, and kept it clean; a finish that was much appreciated by the fans. #1 Contenders Tag Team Match The Royal Kiwis: Keith McIvor & Kelly Hobin defeated Les Voyageurs: Jacques LaToque & Luc Lagimodiere by pinfall when Hobin pinned LaToque after a spinebuster slam at 12:37 **Les Voyageurs came out first being hailed as from St. Boniface, making them local boys. This coupled with a series of high-fives to the fans gave the young team a nice applause. However, when they entered the ring they took the mics and corrected the ring announcer, saying they were from Quebec City, Quebec, and didn't consider themselves to be Canadians, never mind Winnipegers. They then taunted the crowd setting themselves up firmly as the villians.*** RCW Tag Team Title Match Return Match: "Last Chance for Steve O & Rheinghans" The Roughnecks: Stan Rodgers & Russel Riggs (champions) v Steve Olsonoski & Brad Rheinghans This match was only agreed upon by the Roughnecks under the clause that it would be the last title shot garnered by the duo. Steve O & Brad gave it all they had but came up short when Rodgers and Riggs were just too powerful and too resourceful with the double team strategy they employ. The ref gave the champs a lot of leeway not wanting to DQ them and cheat the fan favorites out of their last title shot. Shiek Fal-Had, the manager of the Mummy came down to ringside and used a can of hairspray to blind Rheinghans, effectively taking him out of the match. The champs then doubleteamed the challengers for the win while The Shiek distracted the ref. Roughnecks defeated Steve Olsonoski & Brad Rheinghans by pinfall at 17:14 when Rodgers pinned Steve O following a stuffed piledriver. [Roughnecks retain the RCW Tag Team Titles] After the match the tag champs began to beat down Rheinghans. While the ref did his best to keep Brad out of harms way, The Mummy & Shiek Fal-Had came down to the ring and hauled Steve O out. They then double teamed him including slamming him onto a table and hitting him several times with a steel chair until he was rescued by RCW officials. MAIN EVENT RCW HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP The Mummy (/w Shiek Fal-Had) (champion) v Steve Olsonoski RCW officials elected to give Steve O a 10 minute break to recover before this match. They used that time to hand out fines to both the tag team champions as well as The Mummy & Shiek Fal-Had. This caused the tag champs to come out to the ring and confront Shiel Fal-Had. They said it was his big idea and now they were getting fined. The Shiek calmed them down by paying their fine in cash. Steve O started strong, but soon his head bandages were soaked again with blood. He began to weaken and was no match for the powerful Mummy. Finally, the referee stepped in and stopped the match. [The Mummy defeated Steve Olsonoski by referee stoppage due to blood loss at 13:41] [The Mummy retains the RCW Heavyweight Championship]

Opening Bout: Rick Presonka defeated Nacho Buerrera by pinfall following a powerlsam at 1:29 ** Presonka is a big (6'3 260lb, newcomer to the territory. He has a short fuse, a lot of power, but his stamina is questionable. He wasted no time however in beating the crap out of Buerrera. Kenny Ho defeated Chrisscat by submission to the Asiatic Spike at 8:30 Les Voyaguers; Jacque LaToque and Luc Lagimodiere defeated Ashley Shade & Danny Potenza by pinfall when LaToque pinned Potenza after a second rope elbowdrop at 6:52. **The ref was distracted by Lagimodiere so LaToque dropped the elbow right on the throat of Potenza to assure the victory. **Potenza is a newcomer to the territory, and is another fairly big guy, at 6'0 and 250 lbs. He is a fiery Italian, who likes to use his fists to settle things. Women's Action Jeannie Rahib beat Anne Fargo by pinfall despite being overmatched for most of the bout. Fargo was arguing a slow count with the ref which allowed Rahib to roll her up from behind to pick up the win at 10:05. "Stampede" Clarke Roenick and Mike Valiant battled to a 25 minute time limit draw. RCW Tag Team Title Match The Roughnecks (Stan Rodgers & Russel Riggs) defeated the Royal Kiwis (Kelly Hobin & Keith McIvor) by pinfall when Rodgers pinned Hobin following a piledriver at 13:16. **Les Voyaguers came down to the ring, presumably still angry for their loss last card to the Kiwis, and interfered in the match to help out the Roughnecks. [The Roughnecks retain the RCW Tag Team Titles] MAIN EVENT #1 Contenders Match for RCW Heavyweight Division The Destroyer and Chris Lyon battled to a double countout at 18:30. **They were fighting outside the ring and refused to re-enter the ring. The Mummy came from the back to join the action, using a cane to hit both men. This degenerated into a 3-man brawl with The Destroyer eventually getting the better of the other two.
May spelled another change in direction for the fledging RCW. A budding agreement with the AWA came to an end, which also meant the end of Steve O and Rheinghans in the RCW. The addition of several new creations to the roster brings some fresh faces. However, RCW has its eyes on some bigger things in the near future including expansion to a bigger venue. In the meantime, summer is pretty slow so RCW will present only 1 card for each of June, July, and August.

[glow=red,2,300]June 6, 1981 River City Wrestling #34 Chalmers Community Club, Winnipeg, Manitoba[/glow] Opening Bout Rick Presonka defeated Danny Potenza by pinfall after a powerslam at 2:13 **Presonka continues to overpower and overwhelm his opponents. #1 Contenders Bout Winner to Get RCW Heavyweight Title Shot TONIGHT !! Chris Lyon defeated The Destroyer by pinfall after outside interference by Mike Valiant at 10:51 **Apparently Valiant and Lyon have patched together an alliance despite Valiant having eliminated Lyon at the last Battle Royal Tag Team Action Col. Mike Stone & Tom Stone defeated Chrisscat & Ashley Shade by submission when M. Stone submitted Shade with the Boston Crab at 6:06. Grudge Match Royal Kiwis (Kelly Hobin & Keith McIvor) defeated Les Voyageurs (Jacques LaToque & Luc Lagimodiere) by disqualification when Les Voyageurs refused to break a double team by the count of five, at 15:10 No Countout - No Time Limit - No Disqualification Match Winner to Get RCW Heavyweight Title Shot Next Card Mike Valiant beat "Stampede" Clarke Roenick by pinfall after a German suplex on the floor at 13:21 **Valiant received some timely help via outside interference by Chris Lyon MAIN EVENT RCW Heavyweight Title Match The Mummy defeated Chris Lyon by submission with the stomach claw at 21:00. **Shiek Fal-Had was sent to the back early in this match by the ref for interfering. Then when Mike Valiant came down to try and interfere he was intercepted by the referee who began to send him to the back. But while that was happening The Destroyer came out unnoticed by the ref and slammed Lyon in the back of the head with a running doubleaxhandle, and followed up with a hanging vertical suplex. This allowed The Mummy to pick up the win, and leaves us to wonder, is the Destroyer in cahoots with the Mummy? Or is it simply a case of The Destroyer hating Lyon more then the Mummy?

TWO STEEL CAGE MATCHES
Opening Bout - Tag Team Action Brent Beck & Kenny Ho defeated Kenny Jay & Chris Pepper by pinfall when Ho pinned Pepper folliowing a top rope fistdrop at 8:08 Women's Action !!! Jeannie Rahib defeated Tammy Horsefeld by pinfall after a flying butt bump at 6:45 "Stampede" Clarke Roenick & Rick Presonka battled to a double countout at 9:18 **Presonka finally met his match in power, but kept his undefeated streak alive at 3 matches RCW Tag Team Title Match The Roughnecks (Stan Rodgers & Russel Riggs) beat Col. Mike Stone & Tom Stone by pinfall when Rodgers pinned T. Stone following a piledriver at 5:52 **Roughnecks dominated their overmatched opponents. The fans cant stand either team and were totally not into this match. RCW Heavyweight Championship Match The Mummy (/w Shiel Fal-Had) (champion) v Mike Valiant Chris Lyon came down to ringside to keep a watch for the Destroyer who cost him his title shot last week. After constant outside interference the referee finally sent both the Shiek and Lyon to the back. Valiant cheated as much as he could, but the Mummy was able to cheat even more. The turning point came when the Mummy managed to get ahold of his weapon of choice, a nailfile from under the ring and hide it in his bandages. He busted Valiant open and worked the wound whenever he got the chance. Finally he was able to make Valiant submit to the Stomach claw at 17:40 [The Mummy retains the RCW Heavyweight Title] THE STEEL CAGE IS ERECTED FOR THE FINAL TWO BOUTS OF THE EVENING
CO-MAIN EVENT #1 Steel Cage Match #1 Tag Team Contenders Match The Royal Kiwis (Kelly Hobin & Keith McIvor) v Les Voyageurs (Jacques LaToque & Luc Lagimodiere) The Kiwis defeated Les Voyageurs by pinfall when McIvor pinned LaToque following a suplex off the side of the cage wall at 12:46 **Kiwis controled most of this match, and LaToque & Lagimodiere tried to escape the cage by climbing out. McIvor caught up to LaToque and brought him back in the hard way for the win. CO-MAIN EVENT #2 Steel Cage Match #1 Heavyweight Contenders Match The Destroyer v Chris Lyon The Destroyer made Chris Lyon submit with a bow and arrow submission hold at 25:07. **Excellent match that saw both men bleed early. This match went back and forth and was very evenly matched.
notes; This was probably our "biggest" card to date. Two steel cage matches on top of two title matches and some woman...nothing like some overkill. Jeannie Rahib was based on a girl we knew. She was "big boned" but if you like that kind of thing she was pretty cool. Tammy Horsefeld was also based on a girl we knew, but one of the "popular" girls. Nice body but unfortunate name..that was her real name...and to tie in with that she had a huge honker of a nose. Fairly nice girl though so I shouldnt make fun! Both title matches featured villians against villians for some reason. Odd. Destroyer and Chris Lyon had/have some great matches..at least in our minds. #1 feud in River City.

Opening Bout Nacho Buerera defeated Pancho Villa after a bodyslam at 4:07. **The fans got a kick out seeing these two perennial losers go at it. The fan favorite Buerera got the duke. Women's Action Jeannie Rahib defeated Ultra Venus by submission with the Camel Clutch at 11:09. **Tough bout for Rahib. UV was a masked newcomer with experience wrestling in Mexico and California. Tag Team Action Chirs Lyon & Mike Valiant destroyed Chrisscat & Ashley Shade getting the pinfall victory after Valiant delivered a piledriver on Shade at 6:36. Bunkhouse Match "Stampede" Clarke Roenick beat Rick Presonka when Presonka could no longer answer the referee's 10-count at 18:22. **Bloody match, very even between these two big men. RCW Tag Team Title Match 2 out of 3 Falls The Roughnecks (Stan Rodgers & Russel Riggs) (champions) v The Royal Kiwis (Kelly Hobin & Keith McIvor) **Roughnecks won the first fall by pinfall when they used an illegal doubleteam stuffed piledriver, Rodgers pinned Hobin at 10:10. **Hobin was still injured and McIvor had to go it on his own. The Roughnecks took liberties but McIvor surprised them and the crowd when he managed to roll up Riggs and get a pinfall at 16:11. **Hobin was back into the action shortly after the start of the 3rd fall. With the Roughnecks in trouble Rodgers went to retrieve a chair and tried to get himself DQ'd but Chrisscat came down from the lockeroom and wrestled the chair away from Rodgers. Back inside the Kiwis nailed Riggs with a double flying clothesline, and Hobin pinned Riggs for the deciding fall at 20:25. [The Royal Kiwis defeated The Roughnecks 2 out of 3 falls] [The Royal Kiwis win the RCW Tag Team Titles]
RCW Heavyweight Title Match The Mummy (/w Shiek Fal-Had) (champion) v The Destroyer Mummy controlled the early going, out brawling the challenger, but soon Destroyer had his opponent neutralized on the mat with some wear down holds. The action picked up again and the Destroyer dropped The Mummy to the mat with an anklelock takedown, then turned it into a bow and arrow submission. Fal-Had jumped up on the apron and the Destroyer had to release the submission hold and take out the Shiek with a flying elbow. Mike Valiant and Chris Lyon came running down to the ring but the Destroyer stopped them both from entering the ring with a flying forearm and a standing dropkick. However, The Mummy had pulled out his nail file from his bandages and attacked the challenger. The Destroyer though had eyes in the back of his head and would not be denied. He ducked under the Mummy's attack, picked him up and delivered an atomic drop which drove him head first into the Shiek who once again was back on the ring apron. The Mummy fell to the mat, The Destroyer covered and hooked the leg for the win at 15:52. [The Destroyer defeated The Mummy by pinfall after an atomic drop] [The Destroyer won the RCW Heavyweight Title] After the match Lyon and Valiant interrupted the presentation of the title belt but "Stampede" Clarke Roenick came out to backup the new champ, and with the odds now even the ring was quickly cleared for the new champ to accept his belt.
notes; Dang....both titles change hands on the same night again...what were we thinking? I know it was pen and paper so maybe it was unbooked. Two out of three falls was one of those things I always intended to use more of. If you only use it once in a while it seems to be used for a gimmicky or Dusty finish. But I forget to use it. I remember many times booking title matches in TNM and planning to do 2 out of 3 falls and forgetting. Ultra Venus under the hood was no more from California/Mexico then I am. Chances are it was Tammy Horsefeld who worked the card before, just under a mask, in grand indy fashion. Not for an angle but just to recycle a wrestler. I love when indy cards do this on the same night, reuse wrestlers under the hood.
[glow=red,2,300]August 29, 1981 River City Wrestling #37 Chalmers Community Club, Winnipeg, Manitoba[/glow]
Opening Bout: Brent Beck defeated Ashley Shade by submission with the Canadian backbreaker at 5:56 Danny Potenza defeated Eric Lee by pinfall after a flying elbowsmash at 9:08 Les Voyageurs defeated Kenny Jay & Chris Pepper by pinfall when Luc Lagimodiere pinned Kenny Jay after a stomachbreaker at 12:00 Chris Lyon defeated Clarke Roenick by pinfall after an elbowdrop from the 2nd turnbuckle at 6:46 **Lyon placed his feet on the bottom rope for extra leverage during the pin. After the match Roenick was incensed and attacked Lyon, busting him open with a steel chair. Mike Valiant came out and attacked Roenick from behind, and wrestled away the steel chair. However, when he went to smash Roenick with it, The Destroyer came down and pulled the chair away. Roenick wanted the Destroyer to give him the chair and go after Valiant and Lyon but The Destoyer talked him down. RCW Tag Team Title Match Return Bout Royal Kiwis (Kelly Hobin & Keith McIvor) (champions) v The Roughnecks (Stand Rodgers & Russel Riggs) The Kiwis proved once and for all in this match that they have gone a step beyond where the Roughnecks stand. They outwrestled and outclassed the former champs. Rodgers and Riggs tried to cheat their way to victory but got caught by the ref. Riggs used a roll of coins to bust open Hobin but the roll burst in the ring and the ref disqualified Riggs. [Royal Kiwis defeated The Roughnecks by disqualification at 15:05] [Royal Kiwis retain the RCW Tag Team Titles] MAIN EVENT RCW Heavyweight Championship Return Bout The Destroyer (champion) v The Mummy (/w Shiek Fal-Had) The Destroyer fought fire with fire against the Mummy, but was fighting a losing battle because of the interference of Fal-Had. Finally Clarke Roenick came from the back and chased the Shiek out to the back. The tables now slowly turned in the favor or the champion, who managed to ground the powerful Mummy. He used an abdominal stretch and a bodyscissors to weaken the challenger before applying the bow and arrow submission for the win. [The Destroyer defeated The Mummy by submisison with the bow and arrow at 22:09] [The Destroyer retains the RCW Heavyweight Title] After the match the duo of Chris Lyon and Mike Valiant once again attacked the champ, coming from the backstage area. This time there was no sign of Roenick who had earlier chased the Shiek away from ringside. The villians attacked and worked over the champ for a couple minutes before RCW officials could intervene and rescue the Destroyer.
notes; Big RCW announcements were made this month. RCW has signed a contract to promote a card at the Winnipeg Arena in September and again in December (the 2nd anniversary show). RCW will be bringing in world famous talent from all over the NWA, the west coast, and Maple Leaf Wrestling. In conjunction with those two cards will be a card in Brandon, Manitoba the day before in December, and the day after in September so that the people in Brandon can get a look at the great talent being brought in.
Going forward in 1982 RCW will be getting a regular time slot on Public Access Television, channel 13 CABE from Winnipeg. In recognition of the one hour show RCW will be adding a 3rd title to the promotion, a TV title.
