Good show. Cant wait to see where this Rude/Hogan feud goes, and is anyone going to be able to stand up to Savage?

Perfect wins. No surprise there.
Demolition retain the titles, but this one isn't over. Martel is possible going to get himself hurt if he's not careful.
Really surprised to see Shawn Michaels last a full time limit with Savage. Not surprised to see Savage destroy his face with a chair.
And Rude pins Hogan. I don't think he'll win the title, but this is classic momentum building stuff to justify a title match for the Ravishing One.
Good stuff.

Great match between Michaels and Savage. Didn't expect Michaels to survive that long, but it really pushed him over the top as a future star. Glad to see Savage kept his heat by nailing him with a chair afterwards.
The French Connection is growing on me. I usually hate the Rougeau Brothers, but I'm digging their heel stuff here.
Good to see Rude get the pinfall over Hogan. That didn't happen very often, so it should help catapult Rude straight to a title shot.

I was really trying to battle the fact I didn't want Savage to lose his heat plus I wanted to have Michaels show that he can compete with the top guys for down the road, and I hope I accomplished that.
I got some plans from now til Summerslam, hopefully it works out.
Thanks for the comments boys

WWF Superstars May 27, 1989
WWF Superstars opens up as Vince McMahon is running down the events at Saturday Night’s Main Event, with ‘Ravishing’ Rick Rude stealing a win in the six man tag over Hulk Hogan. Also Demolition retaining their tag team titles with a win via DQ. Plus Randy Savage’s savage beating of Shawn Michaels in a time limit draw! The show opens with Slick coming down to the ring with Akeem and the Big Boss Man also known as the Twin Towers! Slick begins discussing the tag team division and says how the Towers have been dominating lately and need a step up in competition. Big Boss Man talks about how the Towers are easily the toughest team in the WWF today. They have beaten all customers and people need to notice that they are the meanest and baddest team in the WWF. With that, out from the back comes The Powers of Pain! Mr. Fuji is in tow but doesn’t seem to know whats going on. The Warlord grabs the microphone and says that they might be making a mistake saying they are the toughest team in the WWF. The Powers of Pain are the strongest, Twin Towers maybe the biggest and fattest but they are not the baddest and the meanest. The Warlord offers a challenge to the Boss Man for a match tonight and he agrees and all four men stand toe to toe!
Jimmy Snuka pinned Brooklyn Brawler with the Superfly Splash in 0:05:37. Rating: 3/4* Comments: Jimmy Snuka continued his winning ways since coming back at Wrestlemania. He climbed to the top ropes and hit the superfly splash.
Randy Savage is once again backstage and he begins by talking about all the mistakes Shawn Michaels has made in his career. He states that he shouldn’t have gotten in the Macho Man’s face after what happened to Marty. He says that Michaels should stay away from Randy Savage because that chair shot was just a warning. I am on the path of destruction and that leads all the way to Hulk Hogan. Jack Tunney wants to stop me from getting to the title. He can’t stop me, NOTHING CAN STOP THE MADNESS. Oooh yeah.
Rick Rude pinned The Blue Blazer with the Rude Awakening in 0:07:09. Rating: *** (Rick Rude retained the Intercontinental Championship.) Comments: Rick Rude made his second successful defense against the high flyer the Blue Blazer. Blazer got some moves in but when he went to the top rope and wanted to go for a flying splash, Rude moved out of the way and was able to hit the Rude Awakening for the win! Rude then put his title around his waist and this thing for the ladies.
Hulk Hogan is in the back with Mean Gene Okerland. He talks about his knee and says his knee will hold up and says that the only reason Rude got the win last week, was because he used his title belt. Hogan then said next week there’s going to be a tag team match and Rude and Haku will find out what Hulkamania is all about because Hogan has his good friend coming to tag with him and Rude will go down!
The Ultimate Warrior pinned Barry Horowitz with the Big Splash in 0:03:34. Rating: DUD Comments: Pure squash here by the Warrior.
After the match The Honky Tonk Man and Greg ‘The Hammer’ Valentine come down to the ring. Honky grabbed a mic and said he has a surprise another man who wants to take him out and out came Hercules and all three ran into the ring simultaneously into the ring. Warrior quickly goes for Honky but Valetine and Hercules over power him specifically Hercules. Hercules and Valentine put the boots and beat him down. Valentine takes him up and Hercules hits a huge powerslam! Honky looks proud of the work they did as The Ultimate Warrior is down on the ground in pain. Hercules did some serious damage.
Rick Martel defeated Ax when Ax passed out in a Quebec crab in 0:11:29. Rating: *** [Dino Bravo interfered against Ax.] Comments: ½ of the tag team champions definitely wanted revenge on Rick Martel, the leader of the French Connection after he interefered at Saturday Night’s Main Event. Ax definitely used his power over Martel by slamming him all over the ring. After a few minutes, Dino Bravo comes down from the back! Bravo would eventually get involved by attacked Ax on the outside as Martel distracted the official and Bravo through him into the ring post. He tossed him into the ring where Rick Martel made Ax passed out to the Quebec Crab.
Bravo entered the ring and hit a big Side Suplex on Ax! This brings Smash out and he attacks Bravo, but quickly Martel and Bravo overcome Smash and the Rougeaus come out leading to a 4 on 1 attack! The French Connection has a fourth member!
Big Boss Man pinned Warlord after hitting him with a foreign object in 0:10:34. Rating: * 1/2 Comments: Interesting main event as two big men did battle. The Warlord and The Barbarian did not appreciate the comments by the Twin Towers and this match featured pure power moves back and forth. The crowd did not know really who to cheer for but it seemed like they were in the corner of the Warlord. Nevertheless it was Slick who gave the Boss Man his night stick and he used it on the face of the Warlord and got the win!
After the match The Twin Towers and The Powers of Pain stand off again. This is an explosive situation!

Hogan said that he and Tugboat go way back to their days on the docks in California and he wanted to get his hands on the Heenan Family. Tugboat gets on the mike and says he could not stand by any longer as Hulk was attacked repeatedly by the Heenan Family and tonight Rude and Haku are going to pay! Whatcha gonna do brother when Hulk Hogan and Tugboat run while on you.
Hulk Hogan and Tugboat defeated The Heenan Family (Haku and Rick Rude) when Hogan pinned Haku with the Big Leg Drop in 0:11:47. Rating: * Comments: Hogan brought in the reinforcements to take on The Heenan Family in the form of his good friend Tugboat! Tugboat and Rude started off the contest and Tugboat used his power and as soon as he gained an advantage he made a tag to the World Champion! They threw rude off the ropes and hit a big double backdrop and then a double slam! Hogan hits a few rights and tags Tugboat back in. Tugboat hits slam and then big splash. Rude is able to kick out. Rude finally tags out to Haku. Tugboat and Hogan would work over Haku and Rude tried to get back involved but Hogan met him with a fist. Finally they tossed Rude to the outside and Tugboat hit a big slam and Hogan with a Big Leg Drop for the win over the Heenan Family!
Rude was upset on the outside as Tugboat and Hogan celebrate the win.
Hercules made Ildar Burdinskiy submit to the Full Nelson in 0:03:37. Rating: -1/2* Comments: Hercules came out to a chorus of boos and dominated Ildar easily getting the win with a full nelson. He used a variety of power moves to soften Ildar up.
Tito Santana is standing by backstage and talks about his upcoming match with Dino Bravo. Tito says that Bravo is in the way of him getting his hands on Martel once and for all. He talks about Bravo joining with Martel and The Rougeaus and says he will be on the look out for the rest of the French Connection during the match. Arriba!
Dino Bravo defeated Tito Santana by countout in 0:05:22. Rating: ** 3/4 [Rick Martel interfered against Tito Santana.] Comments: Rick Martel is really becoming a thorn in the side of Tito Santana. First he walks out on the matach against him after WMV. This time he got involved in Tito’s match against the newest charge in the French Connection Dino Bravo. Tito looked good early but when the match went to the outside and Martel attacked him leading to the countout win for Dino.
After the match, Martel tossed Tito back into the ring and Bravo hit a huge Side Suplex and Martel put him in the Quebec Crab. Out from the back run the tag team champions and The French Connection slither out of the ring.
Jake Roberts is backstage talking about Bad News Brown. Roberts discusses that his loss to Brown made him do a bit of soul searching but whereas Bad News Brown is from the streets, Jake is from the other side of darkness. He knows how to see into the soul of a man and when we meet again, and they will meet again, Brown better bring more than his street smarts to the ring!
Jake Roberts pinned Paul Roma with the DDT in 0:05:18. Rating: ** ½ Comments: Jake Roberts got back in the win column with a dominating win over Paul Roma. A short arm clothesline and DDT for the win.
Bad News Brown walks out from the back and looks like he wants to get into the ring, but Roberts let’s damian out of the bag and Bad News stops in his track and heads to the back.
Ron Garvin defeated Ted DiBiase by disqualification in 0:08:10. Rating: * 3/4 [Brutus Beefcake interfered against Ted DiBiase.] [Virgil interfered against Ron Garvin.] Comments: Ted DiBiase and Ron Garvin did battle. Unfortunately this match was marred by Virgil’s constant interference is what marred this match. That led to Brutus Beefcake coming out from the back and he evened the odds and Garvin hit the hands of Stone Punch and Virgil entered to break up the pin.
After the match Beefcake chased off both of them!

WWF Superstars June 17, 1989
WWF Superstars opens up with the WWF President Jack Tunney backstage with Mean Gene Okerland. Mean Gene tells the fans that Jack Tunney has requested this time to discuss some WWF matters. Jack Tunney first apologizes to the fans about Randy Savage’s behaviour at Saturday Night’s Main Event and his use of the steel chair on Shawn Michaels. However he states that he had some good news. Next week both Marty Jannetty and Shawn Michaels have been cleared to wrestle! Shawn Michaels had to get staples in his head to close the gash but next week The Rockers will be back in action! Secondly he announces that tonight Randy Savage will do battle with Brutus ‘The Barber’ Beefcake!
What an opening! It will great to see the Rockers back next week in tag team action.
Tito Santana pinned Raymond Rougeau with the Flying Forearm in 0:05:12. Rating: ** ½ Comments: Tito Santana wanted revenge against the French Connection for his attack by Martel and Bravo last week as he did battle with ½ of the Rougeau Brothers, Raymond! Jacques accompanied his brother to ringside. Tito quickly attack Raymond with a dropkick and did not allow Raymond to get going in this matchup. Tito nailed Jacques with a dropkick as he tried to get on the apron and hit the patented flying forearm to Raymond!
Jacques slid into the ring, but Tito was smart and was ready for him and pounds away on Jacques. Unfortunately for Santana, where there are two members of French Connection, there are really four as Rick Martel and Dino Bravo sprint to the ring and Tito can’t fight them all off. All of a sudden the crowd cheers widely as Demolition runs out from the back. They slid into the ring and Martel seeing this ducks out of the ring! Bravo quickly is double clotheslined and then Smash hammers away on Jacques and Ax hammers on Raymond. They dispose of the Rougeaus and with The Rougeaus and Martel watching the tag team champions hit the Demolition Decapitation on Dino Bravo! Martel acts like he wants back into the ring but the Rogueaus hold him back.
Hercules was standing by with Honky Tonk Man and Greg Valentine. Honky says that he has a number hit with a bullet in Hercules. Hercules begins to speak and talks about the Ultimate Warrior and says he is strong, faster, better built machine then the Warrior. Hercules said he planned to end the career of the Ultimate Warrior. Hercules states that his match next is just a preview of what is in store for the Warrior.
Hercules made Aaron Gulliver submit to the torture rack in 0:04:02. Rating: DUD Comments: Hercules quickly no selled the punches AG tried and quickly kick him and hit a huge forearm to the back. The rest of the match was academic as Hercules tossed AG around the ring and finished him off with the torture rack!
The Heenan Family is standing by with Sean Mooney and Mooney asks Heenan how it felt to lose to Hogan and Tugboat. Heenan tells Mooney to shut up and says the match wasn’t fair as they could not properly prepare. The fact of the matter is Rick Rude pinned Hulk Hogan at SNME and how come he doesn’t have a title shot yet? Rude begins to speak and says that Hogan’s days as champion are numbered but before that he wants a piece of that fat blob Tugboat. Next week Rude challenges Tugboat to an Intercontinental Title Match. Heenan seems surprised by that but also seems confident.
The French Connection (Rick Martel and Dino Bravo) defeated The Bushwhackers (Bushwhacker Luke and Bushwhacker Butch) when Martel made Butch submit to a Quebec crab in 0:06:00. Rating: 1/2* Comments: During this match it was announced that Tugboat had accepted Rick Rude’s challenge! The French Connection seemed a bit rattled as Dino Bravo was feeling the effects of Demolition Decapitation from earlier, but good for them that Martel did not suffer any damage and was able to get Butch to submit to the Quebec Crab!
Demolition’s theme music played and Martel looked be scared and he hopped out of the ring and quickly got out of dodge and the music stopped and no one came out and Dino was standing in the ring confusd.
The Powers of Pain (The Barbarian and Warlord) defeated The Hart Foundation (Bret Hart and Jim Neidhart) when Barbarian defeated B. Hart by disqualification in 0:03:06. Rating: ** 1/4 [Akeem interfered against The Barbarian.] Comments: Not much to say about this match as it never really got started much to the chagrin of the fans here as they were hoping that The Hart Foundation would get the win, but the Twin Towers came out and attacked the Powers of Pain! The Hart Foundation ducked outside, not real sure who to assist.
The Barbarian, The Warlord, Akeem and Big Bossman all traded blows in the ring and WWF officials came out along with some of the local wrestlers and had a heck of a time breaking apart over 1,000 of beast in the ring.
Randy Savage and Brutus Beefcake battled to a double disqualification in 0:03:30. Rating: -3/4* [Bad News Brown interfered against Brutus Beefcake.] [Jake Roberts interfered against Randy Savage.] Comments: Sensing a theme this week of WWF Superstars? This match barely got underway as Bad News Brown of all people interjected in the match which led out Jake Roberts! Roberts cleared the ring with the snake and Bad News wanted back into the ring, but Savage did not let him. The real question is why was Bad News Brown out helped Savage?
Too many questions here on WWF Superstars, until next time.

Always glad to see the Bushwackers lose. Even as a kid I always thought they were just weird and annoying.
Looking forward to the Rockers coming back. Might they be out for revenge on Savage?

WWF Superstars June 17, 1989
We are welcomed to Superstars and Vince McMahon and Jesse Ventura are hyping the first match as it is for the Intercontinental Championship!
Tugboat walks out to a huge cheer from the crowd and Rick Rude is being showered with boos as he comes out with Bobby Heenan.
Rick Rude pinned Tugboat with the Rude Awakening in 0:08:53. Rating: ** 1/4 (Rick Rude retained the Intercontinental Championship.) Comments: The crowd was hot for this match as they locked up Tugboat quickly used his power to his advantage by throwing Rude to the mat. He hit a few body slams and then ran off the ropes for the Big Splash, but Rude rolled out of the way. Rude then kicked the big man and then knocked him down with a bulldog and put him in a camel clutch, but Tugboat was able to get out of it. Rude continued to pour on the offense and went for a flying fistdrop but Rude missed! Tugboat was able to hit a huge shoulderblock and then he went for a back suplex, but it was blocked and Rude then hit the Rude Awakening! 1, 2, 3! Rick Rude retains his title!
Jimmy ‘Superfly’ Snuka was backstage and he was talking to Mean Gene who commented on his recent win streak since he has been back in the WWF. Snuka said that he was back to gain some gold that he felt on the table back in the early eighties. Tonight he was focused on the Honky Tonk Man.
Jimmy Snuka pinned Honky Tonk Man with the Superfly Splash in 0:09:36. Rating: * Comments: Snuka and Honky gave everything they had in this match. It was a back and forth seasaw affair finishing with Snuka hitting the Superfly Splash for the win.
Randy Savage is backstage and talks about The Rockers coming back this week and he’s glad they weren’t permanently injured (he says with a smile). But he wants to talk about a man that is going to be watching his back. Savage states that Tunney and the rest of the WWF do not want him to become World champion again and he says that Bad News Brown will be watching his back from now on. Nothing can stop the madness. Bad News Brown steps into the screen as Savage is laughing.
The Rockers (Marty Jannetty and Shawn Michaels) defeated The Young Stallions (Jim Powers and Paul Roma) when Michaels pinned Roma with the Superkick in 0:06:35. Rating: ** Comments: The Rockers got a real nice ovation, especially Marty Jannetty in his first action since being injured over two months ago. He looked a bit rusty but the superkick of Michaels was enough to get the pinfall win over The Young Stallions.
After the match Randy Savage and Bad News Brown come out from the back. The crowd boos heavily and starts throwing garbage. They charge into the ring and are met by double dropkicks. Savage is knocked down but Bad News is not. Michaels and Jannetty hit a double dropkick and BNB goes over the top rope! Savage is all alone in the ring and Jannetty begins to pound away but BNB rolls back into the ring and clotheslines Michaels from behind and attacks Jannetty. Out from the back run Jake Roberts and Brutus Beefcake! They chase off Savage and Bad News Brown!
The Ultimate Warrior is backstage cutting an insane promo on Hercules. The long and the short of it is that Hercules is not powerful enough to destroy the Warrior.
Smash pinned Dino Bravo with the Backbreaker in 0:10:03. Rating: 1/2* [Rick Martel interfered against Smash.] Comments: Dino Bravo wanted some revenge for the French Connection against Demolition for giving him the Demolition Decapitation last week. Rick Martel accompanied Dino to the ring and seemed to enjoy chirping with the fans. The match was physical and Martel added a little extra fire to the match as he was constantly trying to get involved. Ax came down and held Martel at bay and Smash was able to finish Dino off with the Backbreaker!
WWF President Jack Tunney told the crowd that next week Jimmy Snuka would take on Mr. Perfect and the winner would gain a WWF Intercontinental Title Shot at Saturday Night’s Main Event on July 8th!
The Barbarian pinned Akeem with the Boot to the Head in 0:07:56. Rating: 3/4* Comments: The saga between the Powers of Pain and the Twin Towers continued this week as The Barbarian and Akeem did battle. You will remember that Big Boss Man beat The Warlord a few weeks ago. This time it was the POP to get the win as The Barbarian pinned Akeem with a huge boot to the face. Slick was livid on the outside.

I just got a feeling your going to have Hercules go over on the Warrior. You have a great tag team scene going on. A lot of solid strong teams, which should lead to some great feuds for a long time.

WWF Superstars June 24, 1989
Vince McMahon is standing by with Jesse Ventura and they are talking about the big match between Jimmy Snuka and Mr. Perfect tonight for a shot at Rick Rude’s Intercontinental Title! They also hype up a match between Bad News Brown and Shawn Michaels! They get interrupted by the theme music of the French Connection (aka Dino Bravo’s theme) as Rick Martel, Dino Bravo and The Rougeau Brothers hit the ring.
Rick Martel begins to talk about Demolition and says that last week it was a miscarriage last week with Dino Bravo losing to Smash. He talks about how Dino Bravo is the strongest man on the earth. They then challenge Demolition to a title match! Rick Martel then begins to run down the crowd here in the USA. Martel then challenges anyone in the back to come and defend their country because the men from Quebec are the best in the business. You challenge the USA? You get Hacksaw Jim Duggan! Duggan comes in and chases the Connection out of the ring with his 2x4 and tells Martel he accepts the challenge!
Rick Martel defeated Jim Duggan when Jim Duggan passed out in the Quebec crab in 0:10:39. Rating: *** 1/4 [Dino Bravo interfered against Jim Duggan.] Comments: Hacksaw Jim Duggan had heard enough of the French Connection and he answered the call against Rick Martel. Unfortunately for Duggan, where Martel goes, so does the rest of the French Connection. Duggan quickly pounded away on Martel and then when he clotheslined Martel over the top rope and it looks like Martel is going to leave the ring area. He tries to get back in and Duggan hits him again...HOOOOOO. Duggan is keeping him at bay but the Rougeaus and Martel are getting in the referee’s face when Dino Bravo comes in from behind and nails Duggan with the 2 x 4. Martel slides back into the ring and quickly applies the Quebec Crab! He is out! The referee ends it.
After the match Martel celebrates as if he just won the WWF World Heavyweight Title! The French Connection leave the ring as Martel points to his head letting the fans know he outsmarted another one!
Shawn Michaels defeated Bad News Brown by disqualification in 0:08:12. Rating: ** 1/4 [Randy Savage interfered against Shawn Michaels.] Comments: After the recent actions of Bad News Brown and Randy Savage, WWF President Jack Tunney made this matchup. Marty Jannetty and Randy Savage accompanied their partners to the ring. Michaels used his speed early to gain an advantage over BNB as BNB clearly had the size advantage and he worked Michaels over. However Michaels took advantage of BNB cockiness and hit the superkick as BNB jawed with the crowd. Michaels went to the top rope and pointed at Savage as he nailed BNB with the patented Flying Elbowdrop! Before Michaels secures the three count Randy Savage slide into the ring and attacked Michaels causing the DQ.
Marty Jannetty slides into the ring and he gets some shots in on Savage. BNB is still down from the Superkick / Flying Elbowdrop combo and Jannetty clothesline Savage to the outside and Savage pulls BNB out as The Rockers celebrate the win,
Mr. Perfect is backstage with Sean Mooney. Sean wants to know his thoughts on his match with Jimmy Snuka later tonight. Listen up Mooney, tonight will be perfect, because tonight I am going to walk into that ring out perfect and then I will leave the ring perfect. Tonight Snuka you will be a victim of perfection. Perfect smirks as he walks out of the scene.
Haku pinned Bret Hart after a savate kick in 0:07:03. Rating: * 3/4 Comments: Haku picked up the win against Bret Hart in singles action. The Brain Busters accompanied Haku to the ring and Jim Neidhart was in the corner of Hart. The Brain Busters attacked Neidhart and that distracted Hart enough to cause Haku to hit the savate kick for the win.
Hulk Hogan is back with Mean Gene and Hogan cuts a promo on the Heenan Family and says that they all need to be taught a lesson especially the Brain Busters after their attack on Bret Hart. Hogan then says he will put his title on the line next week against Tully Blanchard if he dares!
Hercules defeated Koko B. Ware when Koko B. Ware passed out in a bearhug in 0:04:32. Rating: * 3/4 Comments: Lost in the shuffle was the fact that Koko B. Ware was returning after his injury at the hands of Randy Savage. He did not fare well as Hercules dominated him and squeezed him so tight in a bearhug that Koko passed out. He should have stayed on the shelf.
The Rockers are backstage and they challenge Savage and Bad News Brown to a tag team match at SNME!
Jimmy Snuka pinned Mr. Perfect with the Superfly Splash in 0:16:48. Rating: ** ½ Comments: The main event for Superstars was Mr. Perfect and Jimmy Snuka taking on each other for a shot at Rick Rude and the WWF Intercontinental Title. This was a fast paced back and forth affair to be sure with many near falls. Near the end of the match, Perfect goes for the perfect plex but Snuka blocks it and hits a vertical suplex. He climbs to the top and hits a flying headbutt! Perfect manages to kick out. Perfect goes for a wild clothesline, but it is ducked and Snuka hits a savate kick followed by a backbreaker. Snuka climbs to the top and SUPERFLY SPLASH! 1, 2, 3! Snuka wins.
The crowd goes wild as Snuka will meet Rick Rude for the WWF Intercontinental Title on July 8th, at Saturday Night’s Main Event.

Snuka sure is getting the push. Can't believe he defeated Perfect, but I guess it makes sense since you would want a face wrestling Rude at SNME.
I was afraid you'd forgotten about the Hart Foundation a bit. Sad to see Bret Hart pulling job duty.
I liked the way you brought in Tugboat a few shows back. It was well done and helped build some interest into his character. Plus, when Rude went over in their match, it made Rude look pretty good.
Bad News Brown and Savage is a pairing I never expected. I'm enjoying them together so far. Savage going nuts with BNB as the backup is a very clever idea. I hope they wipe the floor with the Rockers soon, though, and move on to bigger and better things.

WWF Superstars Date: July 1st, 1989
Happy Canada Day to all our Canadian Fans and Happy 4th of July on Tuesday to all our American Fans! Mean Gene Okerland is standing by in the interview and he announces that his guest at this time is Hercules! The crowd booes heavily as Herecules comes out with a chain around his neck and Honky Tonk Man and Greg Valentine follow suit. Mean Gene says that Hercules has been very impressive lately. Hercules began to talk about how he is showing the Warrior how he will make him scream and writh in pain with all these submission moves. Hercules says he will make the Warrior quit. Honky is laughing in the background. Mean Gene asked Honky what the motivation was to align with Hercules. Honky says that Hercules is like a debut hit, one that is destined for #1. Warrior has been a thorn in his side for a while now and after Hercules destroys the Warrior, we will never have to hear from him.
The Rockers (Shawn Michaels and Marty Jannetty), Brutus Beefcake and Jake Roberts defeated Randy Savage, Bad News Brown, Ted DiBiase and Virgil when J. Roberts pinned Virgil with the DDT in 0:09:19. Rating: *** 1/4 Comments: Interesting opener as it was an eight man tag team match between a lot of hated rivals. In the end the match ended with Virgil taking the pin but the match spilled to the outside as The Rockers were getting destroyed by BNB and Savage and Beefcake went to help and that allowed Virgil to be left along with Roberts and he was pinned via the DDT.
The WWF officials were out to break up the donny brook.
Rick Rude is backstage with Sean Mooney and Bobby the Brain Heenan. Mooney asks Rude about his match with Jimmy ‘Superfly’ Snuka and their match at Saturday Night’s Main Event. Rude says that Snuka came back to the WWF for unfinished business, about how he never captured any gold in the WWF. Snuka is the past. Snuka, you had your chance and you blew it when you jumped off the cage against Backlund and crashed to the mat. Now you want to come back and steal my glory? No way. After SNME, you will be in the same position you were before, good, but not good enough.
The French Connection (Dino Bravo and Rick Martel) defeated Tito Santana and Jim Duggan when Martel pinned T. Santana after a small package in 0:09:24. Rating: * ½ Comments: The French Connection does it again wining via unscrupulous methods. Duggan and Santana surprisingly worked really well together as they looked like a well oiled machine and it looked like they were going to get the win, but Martel got into Duggan’s face on the ropes and that allowed Bravo to use brass knucks to hit Santana and Martel was able to small package him before Duggan could break the pin. Martel quickly rolled out of the ring celebrating the win! The Ultimate Warrior is backstage and he begins to talk about Hercules. The Ultimate Warrior said he looked into the heavens and saw that Hercules is not the man to destroy the Warrior. The Warrior does not submit, The Warrior does not give up. Hercules made Ildar Burdinskiy submit to an ankle lock in 0:03:40. Rating: 3/4* Comments: Hercules made quick work finishing his opponent off with an ankle lock.
Hercules stood in the ring victorious and The Ultimate Warrior came running down to the ring and got to the ring apron and shook the ropes as Hercules stood their staring at the Warrior daring him to enter the ring. Warrior happily abilges and Hercules pounds on him but Warrior works out and hits a few rights that don’t seem to faze Hercules, he runs off the ropes and hits a clothesline but Hercules no sells it he then follows it up with a flying shoulderblock that sends Hercules to the ropes and he is knocked out of the ring. Hercules smiles as the Warrior as he walks away as The Warrior wants Hercules back into the ring.
Demolition is backstage with Sean Mooney and they challenged Rick Martel and Dino Bravo to a tag team championship match at Saturday Night’s Main Event! They said they were tired of Martel getting all these cheap wins and now it was time for the French Connection to pay.
Haku pinned Aaron Gulliver after a flying headbutt in 0:05:15. Rating: -** Comments: Haku got a easily win here, winning with the flying headbutt for the win.
Hulk Hogan pinned Tully Blanchard with the Big Leg Drop in 0:10:13. Rating: * (Hulk Hogan retained the World Heavyweight Championship.) [Rick Rude interfered against Hulk Hogan.] Comments: Rick Rude really wants to continue to make Hogan angry as he constantly tried to get involved in the match with Tully Blanchard. Hogan overcame up and won with the big Leg Drop, but Rude slithered into the ring and clocked Hogan with the IC Belt and then left the ring. Hogan came to and grabbed the microphone and said Rude had gone too far now and that he will pay dearly when Hulk Hogan runs wild on you!

Really like the build up your doing for your big matches, such as the inevitable Rude/Hogan match.
Interested in the Savage/BNB pairing. It's different and unexpected, but it seems to be working.
I want more of the twin towers

I could see Snuka winning the IC Title from Rude thanks to some Hogan shenanigans. Rude doesn't really need to be IC champ during this feud. The title could be used elsewhere.

With Jim Neidhart watching making sure no one from the Heenan Family got involved and they did not and Hart was able to make Haku submit to the sharpshooter for the win.

Rhythm'n'Blues (Greg Valentine and Honky Tonk Man) defeated The Bushwhackers (Bushwhacker Luke and Bushwhacker Butch) when Honky Tonk Man pinned Luke with the Shake Rattle'n'Roll in 0:08:56. Rating: * 1/4 Comments: Rhythm’n’Blues shaked, rattled and rolled to the big win tonight.

WWF Saturday Night’s Main Event July 8, 1989
Vince McMahon, Gorilla Monsoon and Jesse Ventura are standing by to commentate this big night of action. They quickly run down the matches tonight included the main event of the evening as ‘Ravishing’ Rick Rude defends his Intercontinental Title against Jimmy ‘Superfly’ Snuka. Ventura comments that he spoke to Bobby Heenan and Heenan assured him the title would be staying right around the waste of Rick Rude. The Powers of Pain w/Mr. Fuji vs. The Twin Towers w/Slick
Four giant men stood toe to toe in the middle of the ring before the match begun, both Mr. Fuji and Slick appear extremely confident. One must think that the winner of this match could be in line for a tag team title shot at the winners of tonight’s match. Boss Man and Warlord lock up to start up the match. Boss man quickly rakes the eyes and chops the Warlord before choking him to the count of four. Warlord tags to The Barbarian and Boss Man chops him a few times as well. Boss Man puts him in the abdominal stretch (using the ropes for leverage of course), and The Barbarian breaks it and then Boss Man tries to hit a flying shoulderblock, but The Barbarian ducks and tags out. The Boss Man decides to tag out as well. Akeem hits a couple of forearms and sends him into the neutral corner. Akeem smashes Warlord’s head into the turnbuckle. Akeem tries to slam the Warlord but he blocks it and tags in the Barbarian. He chops Akeem and hits with with a kick to the head sending him to the mat. He then hits two straight diving headbutts. 1, 2, kickout. The Barbarian then uses a chokehold of his own (a little payback for Boss Man earlier) and he stops at four count, three times. Barbarian is being admonished by the official Akeem tags the Boss Man in and he is met with a boot to the face and nearly is pinned! Kicked out with ½ a second to spare. Barbarian tries to choke him but Boss Man rakes the face and then hits a slam. Akeem enters the ring and they hit a double bodyslam. That brings Warlord in and he knocks Akeem out of the ring, Barbarian runs off the rope looking looking for a lariat and Boss Man ducks and hits the Big Boss Man Slam! Warlord and Akeem are tied up 1, 2, 3! Twin Towers win it.

Randy Savage and Bad News Brown defeated The Rockers (Shawn Michaels and Marty Jannetty) when Savage pinned Michaels with the Flying Elbowdrop in 0:13:21. Rating: ****
Savage starts to yell at Michaels for whatever reason and slaps him a few times, telling him he should have never messed with him. BNB throws in a chair to Savage but before anything can happen WWF Officials hit the ring.
Backstage Hulk Hogan is standing by with Mean Gene Okerland and Mean Gene asks about the Heenan Family and specifically Rick Rude, but before Hogan can get any words out of his mouth, Rude and Haku attack him from behind! Hey all;
Just be warned.
I am going away for two weeks starting on Monday as I am getting married on Saturday and Monday morning I am heading to Hawaii for two weeks. I will probably be checking the boards during my downtime, but I will only be on my phone or ipad so I won't be posting cards, but I will be looking forward to getting things ramped up for Summerslam!

SNME was a lot of fun. Kind of sucks that Rude had to lose the IC Title so fast, but he doesn't need it to feud with Hogan. Plus, a great feel good moment for Snuka. The type of moment you'd be able to use for highlight packages for years to come.
Also, congrats on the wedding! Have fun in Hawaii!

Congrats on the wedding, Dale!
Good card! This is Snuka's first title, I believe. I'm with Ryan, it's sad to see Rude lose the IC Title so quickly, but I think Snuka deserves it. Plus, it allows the mid-card guys to fight over something while Rude continues his chase after Hogan.
Glad to see Savage and Bad News go over. I'm looking forward to seeing where you go with Savage now.
Oh, and TWIN TOWERS~!

Best wishes on the nuptials. Have fun in Hawaii; I think that's where I'd want to go on my honeymoon (if I ever get married LOL).
