It is so nice to be on a bot free forum. I saw the discussion about Stu going into the Hall (deserved in my opinion) and I thought what happens whe Sting retires? He was in the WWF early in his career but never when he got big. If Sting never sets foot in a WWE ring, does he deserve to go into the Hall of Fame based on his work in WCW?

I highly doubt it.

in the words of the immortal Gorilla Monsoon ...
"Highly Unlikely ... "
even if Sting was somehow extended an invite into the hall, I doubt he would accept ...
and yeah, I would love to know when he was WWF ...

Well, I suppose that technically, depending what view of physics you subscribe to, technically somewhere Steven Borden has wrestled in a WWE ring.
But I'm fairly certain that as far as our own Earth/reality goes, he hasn't.

I don't recall Gordon Solie ever working for WWE, but he's in. Verne Gange ran a rival promotion, he's in (after said promotion was bought out, obviously). Nick Bockwinkle's only WWE involvement was cross-promotions with AWA, he's in, as is Eddie Graham.
So it's possible they'd induct him.
Whether he'd accept or not.... That's a different story.

To be fair though, all four of those people come from an era that is much easier for WWE to acknowledge. Borden didn't come into wrestling until '85 and didn't start getting big til after '87.

And during the height of the Monday Night Wars, Sting didn't really wrestle all that much, unless you consider hiding in the rafters from Hogan, wrestling.

I've seen interviews with Sting and he says the WWE was always very nice to him and he has nothing against the company, but he didn't feel they would treat the WCW guys like they were equals. It didn't seem like there were hard feelings, so if the E offered I bet he would accept. Although, what would keep him out is the number of WWF(E) greats that need to go before him.

Sting has never talked trash about WWF/WWE that I recall but I think he has always refused to work for them for two reasons: 1) doesn't feel they would use him well or treat him with respect 2) doesn't like some of the adult and/or distasteful angles WWE has run
He certain has done enough to be in a wrestling HoF and I suppose he might accept an induction from WWE but I don't think he really cares and I don't know Vince would bother. If anything, Vince may have something of a grudge against him for never signing with WWE and theoretically costing him a buck.

Reports last year before the Hall of Fame said that Sting got a lot of serious discussion before it was brought to everyone's attention that he currently worked for TNA. And in all the DVD releases, Sting gets spoken of quite fondly of.
I'd almost guarantee he'll make it in unless he declined.

If we wat to get overly technical, Sting did indeed wrestle on WWE TV one time. The very last Nitro broadcast, his match against Flair was at that time a WWE owned program for that one night.
Just saying....

And I bet he gets royalty checks for the StarrCade and Rise and Fall of WCW DVD's too.

If Pete Rose can get it, than I'm sure the lead singer of The Police can...
The wrestler...not so much

I know that "IF" is a big word, but "IF" he got an invite, just to wee them off, he should ask Warrior to induct him. That would be a hoot!

Kevin Von Erich never stepped into a WWE ring as a competitor, yet they honored the entire Von Erich Family at the HOF last year, so why not Sting?

But Kerry did, so there is a more solid connection. It's just that Kevin is the only one left sadly. Though I suppose you could count the couple appearances Kevin made a couple years before the HOF induction when WWE bought the WCCW tape library. Plus WCCW wasn't really "the competition" the way WCW was. By the time WWE was going national WCCW had broken from the NWA and again, most of the family's contributions to the sport really took place during a time that's easier for the WWE to aknowledge.
But at any rate, even if it did happen they'd probably want to put as much time between the induction and Sting's TNA involvement as humanly possible so I imagine it'd be quite a ways off indeed.

Sting almost got elected last year before someone told Vince he worked for the competition.
He'll get in if he accepts the invite when the time comes.

From Wrestleview.com www.wrestleview.com/news2009/1267894708.php?style=dark Early plans for Hall of Fame next year » Reported by Adam Martin of WrestleView.com » On Saturday, March 6, 2010 at 11:58 AM EST -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- While plans can always change, The Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that the working theme for next year's WWE Hall of Fame in 2011 is to have a WCW theme since they will be in Atlanta. There is already talk about inducting Sting (if he is available and not with TNA), Lex Luger, Ron Simmons, The Road Warriors and The Steiner Brothers.

of that list, Sting, The Road Warriors and Ron Simmons are musts. I can see the case for the Steiners. Luger I am not so sure about. He never was good on the mic and his ring work when not working with the likes of Sting, Ric Flair or Bret Hart was so-so.

BUT, I would say Luger is MUCH more deserving then Koko B Ware or Ultimate Warrior

Warrior was, sadly, a VERY over WWE champion, though. He will most likely make it in.
Koko B Ware was one of the WWE's most visible jobbers, and VERY popular with kids, so I can see why they put him in.
Ron Simmons is definately a must: Former world champ, former tag champ in both promotions, been around forever, and of course DAMN.
Sting, duh.
Road Warriors won AWA, NWA, and WWF tag straps. Instant-in, IMO.
Steiners won straps everywhere, so yeah, makes sense.
That leaves Luger: While not my first choice, don't forget he DID slam Yokozuna, co-win the Royal Rumble, won the WCW title twice, 3 time NWA/WCW tag champ, and accidently killed Elizabeth.
Upon further review, the last achievement might wanna be left out of the "Accolades" list, if WWE does induct him....

Have also heard rumors of them trying to get Goldberg for that HoF class as well.
