www.youtube.com/watch?v=32OPyEAraU4This was funny in 1999 because the WWF was red hot and arguably at it's peak. (And Jericho's pop was crazy.) If someone debuted on the next RAW and cut this promo verbatim it would be a statement of accurate fact.

Have you read "Undisputed" (his second book)? It is crazy to see how much flack he took from Vince during his whole time in the company. I always viewed the guy as upper card material, but his book paints a different picture of how he was perceived by certain guys in the company. The way he tells it is that it wasn't until his last run (once he started doing the "Save Me" bit) that he actually had the full support of Vince behind him.

I just finally got "Lion's Tale" but I've already got at least one book ahead of it in my reading queue. I figure I will get to "Undispited" after that. The pop Jericho gets just for showing up is INSANE. And he was interrupting The Rock who was insanely over by that point. Most people interrupting The Rock would get booed out of the building. To not have confidence in him is nuts - but then again this would merely add to a long list of ways Vince's grasp of reality is sketchy.

Well, Jericho wasn't massive, or overly ripped, AND was coming from "the other two shows", so he basically had all three strikes against him, as far as Vinny Mac was concerned.
In the long run, though, we all know it was more than worth it.
