1/4/86 - GCW Superstars (TAPED: 12/17/85) LOCATION: Mid-Hudson Civic Center - Poughkeepsie, NY
It's 1986, and with the new year, there always feels like there is a new feeling in the air. Many wrestlers can get fresh starts, and that was the point Gorilla Monsoon was making as we kicked off Superstars. Mark Niemiller of course had to counter by saying winners will still be winners and loser will always be losers. After a brief argument, we went to the ring for our first match of 1986.
MATCH #1 The Mexican Eagles vs. The Hart Foundation (w/ Jimmy Hart)
Two teams looking to get off on the right foot in 1986. Tons of potential for both, but neither as quite put it together yet. The Hart Foundation made the best of the opportunity today, catching Chavo Guerrero with the Hart Attack in a competitive match. Jimmy Hart came over to the announce position after the match and declared by the end of the year, the Hart Foundation would be wearing tag team gold.
The Hart Foundation (Bret Hart and Jim Neidhart) defeated The Mexican Eagles (Chavo Guerrero and Dos Caras) when B. Hart pinned C. Guerrero after the Hart Attack in 0:07:36. Rating: ** 1/2
MATCH #2 "The Canadian Strongman" Dino Bravo (w/ Jimmy Hart) vs. Rick Jacobs
Dino Bravo has come up short in his attempts to wrestle the Intercontinental Title away from Ted DiBiase, but the feud is still very much alive and very personal. That was quite evident today as Bravo took on Rick Jacobs. The Canadian Strongman wasn't having much problem with Jacobs, but he suddenly got a big problem when DIBIASE ran out and attacked Bravo, causing the blatant DQ.
Dino Bravo defeated Rick Jacobs by disqualification in 0:03:08. Rating: -* 1/2 [Ted DiBiase interfered against Dino Bravo.]
DiBiase obviously hasn't gotten himself enough of Bravo and wanted to take a piece out of him here. DiBiase only got a few good shots in before locking on the Cobra Clutch, but Bravo was close enough to the ropes to get a hold of them and pull himself to safety. DiBiase grabbed the mic from Howard Finkel and said he wanted to end the issue with Bravo once and for all and challenged him to a Falls Count Anywhere match on January 11 in Boston! We learned later that Bravo indeed accepted and promised that he would finally become the Intercontinental champion!
MATCH #3 Sgt. Slaughter/Stan "The Lariat" Hansen vs. Brian O'Connor/Mario Mancini
Sgt. Slaughter & Stan Hansen were in a foul mood just days removed from losing the World Tag Team Titles to Dusty Rhodes & Jim Duggan. During this match that they won easily, they did an insert promo talking about what scum Rhodes & Duggan were, and how they should have had the night off instead of having to defend their titles against a replacement team. Slaughter said that in Boston, he wouldn't be satisfied with just winning back the titles; no, he would only be happy with spilling the blood of Rhodes & Duggan. Hansen added that the titles were coming back to them and that Rhodes & Duggan are going to get a Texas-sized whooping.
Sgt. Slaughter and Stan Hansen defeated Brian O'Connor and Mario Mancini when Slaughter made Mancini submit to the Cobra Clutch in 0:01:55. Rating: 3/4*
BOB BACKLUND ATTACKED!
At this point, Monsoon & Niemiller threw it to a video that was recorded yesterday. Bob Backlund was down in Tampa, the site of tonight's Saturday Night Slam Masters, doing some promotional work for GCW. Backlund was doing an autograph signing out front of a car dealership, shaking hands with fans at a table. One of the fans in line turned out to be BOBBY HEENAN. Heenan made fun of Backlund and said that these dumb fans should be in line to get his autograph instead because he's a winner. Backlund got fed up and stood up, yelling at Heenan to get out of there. That was all the distraction KING KONG BUNDY needed to clock Backlund from behind. He picked the #1 contender up and bodyslammed him on top of the autograph table. It didn't stop there though as Bundy propped Backlund up against a car and crushed him against it with the Avalanche! Bundy yelled at Backlund that the World Title was going nowhere at Slam Masters.
MATCH #4 Corporal Kirchner vs. Rusty Brooks
Corporal Kirchner keeps racking up wins, putting Rusty Brooks away with the Corporal Clutch today. If Kirchner keeps this up, it won't be long before he's in the title picture.
Corporal Kirchner made Rusty Brooks submit to the Corporal Clutch in 0:02:02. Rating: -1/4*
LIVE EVENT REPORT W/ GENE OKERLUND
"Mean" Gene Okerlund did a special edition of the Live Event Report from the Sundome in Tampa, FL, the home of tonight's Saturday Night Slam Masters. The empty arena could be seen behind him as he hyped tonight's show. He started with the main event, and first of all assured everyone that it would take place as scheduled. Bob Backlund will be competing against King Kong Bundy despite Bundy's heinous attack on him earlier. Backlund will be less than 100%, but he's not going to pass up a chance to become the first man in GCW history to hold the World Heavyweight Title 4 times. Okerlund said we definitely wouldn't have any shenanigans though as the special referee would be Lou Thesz. We got an interview now with Thesz who said he guaranteed there would be no nonsense in this title match and we would have a clear winner. Not the only title on the line as Tully Blanchard would be defending the Television Title against Jacques Rougeau with their respective partners banned from ringside. Jacques proved recently that he could beat Blanchard in tag team action, and if history repeats itself tonight, we will have a new TV champ. In addition, we will see Rick Martel take on Big John Studd and the Fabulous Ones meeting the Electric Dream Machine.
The superstars of GCW won't be resting long though as next Saturday in Boston at the Boston Garden, we will have another huge live event. So far only three matches have been signed, but they all huge. Dusty Rhodes & Jim Duggan shocked the world by becoming the new World Tag Team champions, but Sgt. Slaughter & Stan Hansen have already invoked their rematch clause, and it will be held within the confines of a steel cage! Not only that, but Okerlund did officially announce at this point that Ted DiBiase will once again defend the Intercontinental Title against Dino Bravo, and to settle this once and for all, it will be Falls Count Anywhere! The final match announced so far is going to be a battle royal. Battle royals are very dangerous matches, but exciting, and winning one can really be a shot in the arm for a wrestler to make his mark. More matches will be announced, but first, we will see you tonight in Tampa!
MATCH #5 Barry Windham vs. "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson (w/ Bobby Heenan)
For our feature match, both Barry Windham and Arn Anderson were showing some signs of injury after War Games just a few short days ago. Anderson had a slight but noticeable limp, and that is what Windham focused on. Anderson is quite the technician himself though and managed to wear Windham down with a variety of painful holds. But Windham's kept the bullseye on Anderson's tweaked leg and once he got the Enforcer in a figure-four leglock, Anderson had to say uncle.
Barry Windham made Arn Anderson submit to a figure-four leglock in 0:09:17. Rating: *** 1/2
A solid match to end today's broadcast.
Join us next week on Superstars for some great action. Wahoo McDaniel will make his return to television. The Iron Sheik & Nikolai Volkoff will compete, as will the Rougeaus (who may see Jacques Rougeau as Television champion by then). And in our feature bout, if he is still the champion, Tully Blanchard will defend the Television Title against "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan! See you next week!

I don't doubt that the Hart Foundation will have gold before the end of the year. Hopefully they'll usher in a strong tag team division for you heading into the late 80's. Knowing your history, though, Bret will probably quit before 1987.
Bravo and Dibiase FCA could be the sleeper match in Boston. I'm really digging Bravo these days so I'm hoping for a strong showing.
But the Tag main event for Boston will be so violent! These 4 are going to beat the shit out of each other and it's going to be glorious.
Great vignette for Bundy and Backlund. I wonder if the dealership discounted the poor car that's now dented, or if they auctioned it off for twice what it's worth?!
Kirchner for World Champion, 1986!!!
Lou Thesz is an interesting twist the World title match. I don't see Bundy losing, but I also don't see him beating Backlund fairly. I'm intrigued!
Nice little main event with Windham going over cleanly. It feels like he's cooled off a bit, but maybe that's just because we had a long break from the Universe. Either way, he's got a shot at being a major player before the end of the year.

I think Jimmy Hart's right. The Hart Foundation might even be the team to dethrone Rhodes and Duggan, who I don't think will hold onto the titles long.
A Falls Count Anywhere match in the '80s involving DiBiase could definitely be a classic. And I'm imagine perhaps a crimson mask.
I don't think Hansen and Slaughter are taking the titles back, but they sure are a scary team to deal with. I can't imagine how awesome the squashes would be.
Angles like Backlund getting beat up at an autograph signing are so classic. Love the visual of Backlund getting smashed into a car.
I'm not sure if Kirchner had any momentum in my eyes before the layover, but I know definitely he doesn't right now. You might be able to change that depending on where he goes from here.
So difficult for these guys to be selling injuries for a match they haven't even had yet, but good continuity. Windham/Anderson in '86, if given time, could be a five star affair.
I don't think the TV is much shorter than usual, but it felt fresh. Glad to keep this going.
Guess I need to start writing.

As a big fan of Dusty who was greatly saddened by his passing, I'm glad he got a ton of love in this fed. I know I don't post a lot but I read all the time and I went back and read Dusty's greatest hits in this fed. Keep up the good work.

Thank you, Ryan. I appreciate it. Good thing is, Dusty still has a lot of time in GCW to make things happen.

1/4/86 - Saturday Night Slam Masters (taped 12/19/85) LOCATION - SunDome - Tampa, FL
"Obsession" by Animotion brought us in to the phenomenon that is sweeping the nation, Saturday Night Slam Masters! Normally Gorilla Monsoon would be joined by Bobby Heenan on Slam Masters, but since the Brain has himself an extremely busy night, Mark Niemiller is the one at the announce table. Heenan does have a big night ahead of him, managing his wrestlers in three matches tonight. Big John Studd will take on Rick Martel, Tully Blanchard defends the Television Title against Jacques Rougeau, and King Kong Bundy defends the World Title against Bob Backlund! We will also see GCW newcomer Koko B. Ware as the special guest on The Flower Shop, and so much more! Now down to the ring with Howard Finkel.
MATCH #1 Television Title Match Tully Blanchard (c) (w/ Bobby Heenan) vs. Jacques Rougeau
The first match of the night was our first of two title matches. Tully Blanchard was defending the Television Title against Jacques Rougeau with tag team partners banned from ringside. A clip was shown of a recent tag team match with the Rougeaus taking on Blanchard & Arn Anderson with Jacques Rougeau getting the pin on Blanchard to start the match. This however was a singles match, something that Jacques does not have a ton of experience in. That being said, Jacques Rougeau was on top of his game, and it was taking Blanchard off his game. When you have a manager like Bobby Heenan though, you rarely leave things to chance. When it looked like Jacques was about to roll Blanchard over into the Boston crab, that's when the video wall turned on. On the video wall was an image of a downed Raymond Rougeau, and standing over him with a chair was ARN ANDERSON. Jacques let go of the hold and was going to leave the ring to go help his brother, but that's when Blanchard clipped his knee from behind. The Slingshot Suplex was next, and we had a successful title defense.
Tully Blanchard pinned Jacques Rougeau with the Slingshot Suplex in 0:12:39. Rating: *** 1/2 (Tully Blanchard retained the GCW Television Title.)
Monsoon was outraged over what we saw, but Niemiller just said it was smart. He said there's a lot of money in managing the TV champion, and you don't leave that up to chance. You don't have to like it, but Blanchard is still the champ.
MATCH #2 Rick Martel vs. Big John Studd (w/ Bobby Heenan)
Rick Martel's issues with the Heenan Family have cost him a lot. Months of his career, and perhaps even more importantly, he can never challenge for the World Title again. One thing he does still have power over though is getting revenge against the Heenan Family in any way he can. He had a shot to do so against Big John Studd, but that is a feat easier said than done. Martel's heart is strong, and when he is motivated, he is hard to beat. Studd also took Martel lightly, which is never a good idea. Martel used his speed to pepper Studd with punches and dropkicks, almost knocking Studd down. Martel hit the ropes again for some momentum, but this time Studd got a hold of Martel by the throat. And then wouldn't let go. Referee Tommy Young administered the count, but it was clear that Studd had no intentions of letting go, making this one a disqualification.
Rick Martel defeated Big John Studd by disqualification in 0:04:40. Rating: **
The match was over, but Studd was still keeping the chokehold on. This is dangerous at any time, but with Martel's history of severe neck injuries, this was a particularly scary situation. Martel was trapped in the chokehold for nearly 2 minutes before officials finally managed to pry Studd off of him. Monsoon called the act despicable while Niemiller said this was something Martel brought on himself.
THE FLOWER SHOP W/ GUEST KOKO B. WARE
Back from commercial break, we were at the set of The Flower Shop. "Adorable" Adrian Adonis was looking as flamboyant as ever, and Jimmy Hart even had his Adonis-themed jacket on. The guest on the show was exciting newcomer Koko B. Ware, who shocked the wrestling world with his debut in Madison Square Garden by pinning Bad News Brown. Adonis began by making fun of Koko's short stature, which Koko countered by making fun of Adonis' ridiculous dress. Adonis took offense, telling Koko he was the new kid in town and he shouldn't be running his mouth. Koko actually apologized which surprised a lot of people. Koko said he was out of line and shouldn't be running his mouth, but rather, should let his actions do the talking. This is when Koko slapped Adonis across the face! Koko yelled that he wouldn't be disrespected in GCW. Later on in the broadcast, we would learn the Koko B. Ware and Adrian Adonis will go at it in Boston 7 nights from now.
MATCH #3 The Fabulous Ones vs. The Electric Dream Machine (w/ Precious)
This match never got going. Not because of an injury or someone having car trouble. No, the Fabulous Ones & the Electric Dream Machine never got going because they both couldn't end their entrances. That's right - instead of a wrestling match, we got to watch four grown men not get in the ring because they were so focused on their ring entrances. At one point, both teams were in the aisle doing their entrances, completely oblivious to the fact that their opponents were in the aisle doing their entrance. Eventually referee Joey Marella had to come down and tell them the match was off. Just strange.
The Fabulous Ones (Steve Keirn and Stan Lane) vs. The Electric Dream Machine (Jimmy Garvin and Steve Regal) never took place. Rating: N/A
We have learned this match is going to take place in Boston, and this time, if the entrances of the Fabulous Ones and the Electric Dream Machine aren't both under 45 seconds each, fines and possible suspensions will be levied.
BLANCHARD & ANDERSON HAVE THEIR CELEBRATION INTERRUPTED
TV champion Tully Blanchard and Arn Anderson were seen in the back celebrating Blanchard's dubious title defense over Jacques Rougeau. Gene Okerlund is trying to get an interview. They're being quite disrespectful about the situation when WAHOO MCDANIEL enters and gets in Blanchard's face. The Enforcer looks ready to pounce, but Blanchard holds him back, saying he wants to hear Wahoo out. Wahoo told Blanchard he saw what he did out there and he didn't like it. He also reminded Tully that if it wasn't for an injury, Wahoo would still be the Television champion. Blanchard got even more upset when Wahoo brought up how he was the one responsible for beating the Heenan Family in War Games. Tully interrupted and said he never beat him though, and that if they ever got in the ring, that's exactly what he'd do. Wahoo asked, "How about in Boston then?" Tully tried to back out of it, but Anderson chimed in and said not only does Blanchard accept, but he will take Wahoo out once and for all! Wahoo left smiling while Blanchard looked very unsure of himself.
MATCH #4 World Title Match Special Referee: Lou Thesz King Kong Bundy (c) (w/ Bobby Heenan) vs. Bob Backlund
Already a great show to this point, but this was the big one. Former World champion Lou Thesz was introduced first, and received a nice round of applause from the Tampa crowd. Thesz waved a couple of times, but it was clear that he was focused on the job at hand, and that was to make sure nothing crazy went down in this match. With all of these combustible elements though, that was going to be a difficult task. As soon as the bell rang, Bob Backlund went right after King Kong Bundy's legs, trying to get the champion off his feet. If Bundy has a vertical base, nobody has a chance against him - not even a former 3-time World champion. Backlund almost had Bundy off his feet several times, but the 450 pounder kept cutting him off. Still, Bundy couldn't get any sustained momentum either based on Backlund's speed advantage. Bobby Heenan wanted to get involved throughout the match, but Lou Thesz was not about to let that happen, sternly chastising the Brain. Heenan had a backup plan though, and that plan involved BIG JOHN STUDD strolling down to ringside. This immediately caught the attention of Lou Thesz. Not only him, but RICK MARTEL, who came down to even the odds.
Thesz jumped down to the floor to make sure nothing happened, which then allowed Heenan to sneak in the ring behind Backlund. Heenan grabbed Backlund's arms and held him open for Bundy, but Bundy's punch missed and clocked the Brain instead! Backlund dropkicked Bundy back into the corner. Backlund hit the ropes to get some momentum, but Studd tripped him up. Thesz missed this as he was tied up with Martel, but Martel saw it and he snapped. He got past Thesz and pushed him into the ringpost before hopping in the ring to go after Bundy. Studd wasn't stunned long and he got in the ring, grabbing Martel from behind and tossing him across the ring. Thesz saw four guys in the ring and decided he had seen enough, throwing this match out.
Match with Special Referee Lou Thesz: King Kong Bundy wrestled Bob Backlund to a no-contest in 0:10:08. Rating: 3/4* (King Kong Bundy retained the GCW World Title.) [Rick Martel interfered against King Kong Bundy.]
The match was over, but the fight was on. Martel & Studd were going at it while Backlund & Bundy were continuing their battle. Bobby Heenan was getting in on it as well, clipping Backlund's knee from behind so Bundy could really attack. Thesz had seen enough at that point, rolling into the ring and clocking Heenan right between the eyes. Thesz didn't get much time before Bundy ran in and crushed him in the corner. Studd tied Martel up in the ropes while Heenan held Backlund's leg prone. Bundy came down with the Big Splash right on Backlund's leg, causing the former champ to scream in pain. Bundy was able to hit a second splash before officials came down to break it up.
Back from commercial, Monsoon was horrified by what he just saw, saying that the Heenan Family went too far. Niemiller said this was a long time coming and that Backlund & Martel got exactly what they deserved. Monsoon hoped that President Tunney does something about this.
SPECIAL INTERVIEW W/ THE NEW TAG TEAM CHAMPS
To end the show, Gene Okerlund had a special interview backstage with the brand new World Tag Team champions, Dusty Rhodes & Jim Duggan. Okerlund congratulated them, and Dusty said that even though he's been a tag team champion before, this one was special. This one was special because nobody thought they could do it. Nobody thought a "past his prime" American Dream and a Hacksaw who's green behind the ears could beat a team of destructive nature like Sgt. Slaughter & Stan Hansen, but that is exactly what they did. Okerlund asked Duggan how it felt, and Hacksaw said this was a dream come true, not only getting to be a tag team champion, but doing it with a guy like Dusty Rhodes. Okerlund brought up how a week from now in Boston, there would be a rematch, but this time it would be in a steel cage. Rhodes said he knew they were in for the fight of their lives, but if there was one thing they didn't do, it's give up. Duggan added that he wouldn't be the same after this match, he would be better.
Match observations:
1/11/86 - BOSTON GARDEN - Boston, MA
WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE CAGE MATCH - Dusty Rhodes/Jim Duggan (c) vs. Sgt. Slaughter/Stan Hansen INTERCONTINENTAL TITLE FALLS COUNT ANYWHERE MATCH - Ted DiBiase (c) vs. Dino Bravo The Fabulous Ones vs. The Electric Dream Machine Koko B. Ware vs. Adrian Adonis Non-Title Match - Tully Blanchard vs. Wahoo McDaniel Plus, a battle royal!

Nothing gets you into an '80s mood quite like Obsession!
Did they even have a TitanTron type set up on any of these shows in the '80s? Can't say I'm a huge fan of the way this ended since it seems more Raw than '80s, but you did build up Jacques pretty well into this title defense from Blanchard.
Martel really is having a hard time of it. Thought this would be an interesting match since I had no idea how you would get Martel out of it without taking a pin. Good job of building up heat for a future rematch. I think Martel is the face of the future right now.
I liked the Flower Shop. Good old traditional way to start up a feud.
Hahaha! Love the no contest due to entrances. That's something that might end up on WrestleCrap one day, but I got a kick out of it.
Love that Anderson is the brawn and Blanchard is the brains so far. Anderson may have just cost Blanchard the TV Title.
I'm kind of surprised Martel made an appearance in the main event. Figured he'd sell the injury to his throat for a little while. And now it looks like Backlund is out too. Tough night for the daces.
I kind of like ending the Slam Masters with an interview. Especially with two huge fan favorites, lets the fans go home a little happy.
I'm assuming you are setting up some sort of tag match between Bundy/Studd vs. Martel/Backlund, but I'm wondering how long you will keep the faces out.
Good show that builds strongly towards your next big show.

A lot of dqs and no contests here, which I'm really not a fan of. Wonder if Thesz will involve himself in any capacity after this. Going after Martel, perhaps?
I also kind off liked the entrance-thing, even if it'll probably end up on WrestleCrap. Fits the storyline with the long entrances.

Tully always makes his opponents look good. Jacque may not have won but he looked impressive as a singles. Looks like these two teams aren’t through with each other yet.
Martel may actually die in a GCW ring one of these days. I swear the guy takes the worst punishment out of anyone in the universe.
Damn, Koko got aggressive! Nice little segment to get some heat generated.
Ha! I don’t even know what to say about the FabOnes and EDM segment! It’s definitely entertaining! 45 second entrances are no joke to these guys, though. These four are probably fuming at the stipulation.
You’ve managed to put Wahoo in a good spot by bringing him in and putting him over in War Games. I doubt he takes the title off Tully but it’s a good little program for both of them. Wahoo will get some good matches at the tail end of his career and Tully will get some good heat for beating up a legend.
The finish for the World title match was unfortunate. It was quite a rollercoaster in the end. I thought Thesz clocking Heenan would have sent the fans home happy but then Bundy and Studd brought everything back down. I’m surprised Martel only got tied up in the ropes this time instead of actually having one of his limbs ripped off his body.
Closing with a promo with a babyface tag team was the right thing to do following all the heel destruction of the night. This show pushed the hell out of the Boston Garden show, too! Let’s keep the Universe rolling!

We'll see a big edition of the Flower Shop as Adrian Adonis welcomes guest RICK MARTEL! And in our main event, Tully Blanchard defends the Television Title against World Tag Team champion "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan! Monsoon threw it to the ring for our first match.
MATCH #1 Wahoo McDaniel vs. Jeff Crippley
Wahoo McDaniel with a warmup win before his big non-title match against the Television champion in Boston tonight.
Wahoo McDaniel pinned Jeff Crippley after a kneedrop in 0:02:48. Rating: -3/4*
MATCH #2 The Iron Sheik/Nikolai Volkoff vs. Ron Shaw/AJ Petruzzi
Freddie Blassie's bruiser tag team pick up the win. An insert promo with Blassie during the win promised that one of his Foreign Legion will walk out as the winner of the battle royal.
The Foreign Legion (Nikolai Volkoff and The Iron Sheik) defeated Ron Shaw and AJ Petruzzi when Sheik made Petruzzi submit to the Camel Clutch in 0:01:35. Rating: 1/4*
MATCH #3 The Rougeau Brothers vs. Mr. X/Joe Mirto
An insert promo during the Rougeaus easy victory over Mr. X & Joe Mirto, the Rougeaus expressed their excitement to see the sights of Boston. They got into an argument over which sight they would see first, Jacques wanting to hit Fenway Park while Raymond wanted to see the sight of the Boston Tea Party.
The Rougeau Brothers (Jacques Rougeau and Raymond Rougeau) defeated Mr. X and Joe Mirto when J. Rougeau pinned Mr. X after a dropkick in 0:04:45. Rating: -1/4*
LIVE EVENT REPORT W/ GENE OKERLUND
Gene Okerlund joined us for the Live Event Report to give the final rundown for tonight's show in Boston, main evented by Dusty Rhodes & Jim Duggan defending the World Tag Team Titles against Sgt. Slaughter & Stan Hansen in a steel cage match. The Intercontinental Title would also be defended in what Mean Gene called the "final battle" between champion Ted DiBiase & challenger Dino Bravo, a match to be contested under falls-count-anywhere rules. Wahoo McDaniel gets an opportunity to take on Tully Blanchard in a non-title match, the tag team match between the Fabulous Ones & the Electric Dream Machine we expected at Saturday Night Slam Masters will take place finally, as well as upstart Koko B. Ware meeting "Adorable" Adrian Adonis. Not only that, but a huge battle royal! Should be a fantastic show, so get your tickets now!
MATCH #4 Television Title Match Tully Blanchard (c) (w/ Bobby Heenan) vs. "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan (World Tag Team champion)
Both competitors here were taking a big risk by participating in this match. Tully Blanchard takes on Wahoo McDaniel tonight and Blanchard has stated that he would find losing to Wahoo to be a disgrace. Jim Duggan has the big opportunity to walk out of Superstars with his first singles championship, but he is also 1/2 of the World Tag Team champions with Dusty Rhodes and defends against the former champs, Sgt. Slaughter & Stan Hansen, tonight in a steel cage match. Prospects were looking good for Hacksaw early as he was bouncing Blanchard around the ring like a basketball, but it was short lived when inevitably STAN HANSEN got involved. Duggan had went after Blanchard on the floor when the champ tried to escape, hitting him with a bodyslam before tossing him back in. Referee Joey Marella was checking on Blanchard who was complaining of a back injury which is when Hansen struck, throwing Duggan head first into the ringpost before putting him back in the ring. Duggan was groggy and Blanchard's back injury was suddenly feeling better. Blanchard struck with the Slingshot Suplex and the Television Title was retained.
Tully Blanchard pinned Jim Duggan with the Slingshot Suplex in 0:03:38. Rating: ** 1/2 (Tully Blanchard retained the GCW Television Title.) [Stan Hansen interfered against Jim Duggan.]
Hansen looked to want to continue the attack, but DUSTY RHODES ran down and prevented anything further from taking place. Word is that Duggan was a bit shaken up by the assault, but will be good to go to defend the tag titles tonight.
THE FLOWER SHOP W/ RICK MARTEL
This week's episode of Superstars ended with the Flower Shop, "Adorable" Adrian Adonis' very flamboyant interview program. After doing some of his usual antics, Adonis brought out his guest, Rick Martel. Martel led with a health update on his friend Bob Backlund, saying that thanks to the Heenan Family & King Kong Bundy, Backlund's leg injury could have him out for several months. Martel said he is tired of Bundy & the Heenan Family thinking they can get away with whatever they want to, running roughshot around GCW while President Jack Tunney does nothing. Martel was to the point of practically begging Tunney to overturn his ruling that Martel was banned from ever competing for the World Title so that he could bring an end to the injustices of the Heenan Family once and for all. Adonis reminded Martel (quite rudely, mind you) that Martel knew what he was getting into when Tunney told him not to get involved in Bundy's matches, so he has no one to blame but himself. Martel told Adonis he wasn't in the mood and told Adonis there was no stipulation in place preventing him from knocking the makeup right off of his cross-dressing face. Adonis feigned backing down, and then threw a wild punch at Martel. Martel blocked in and knocked Adonis down with a punch of his own. Officials came in to separate the two to end the program.
Join us next week on Superstars where we have just learned that Rick Martel will take on Adrian Adonis! Not only that, but Koko B. Ware meets Bad News Brown, and we will hear from World champion King Kong Bundy about what Martel said tonight. Don't miss it!

Very happy to see the Universe keep trucking. Let’s hope we can maintain some consistency. Looks like you’ve moved on to the brief TV write-ups, which I’m all for.
Still a bit stunned that Wahoo is making such an impact these days. But he can give younger talent a good rub before riding off into the sunset for good.
You know what… I actually hope Sheik or Volkoff DOES win the Battle Royal!
Those wacky Rougeaus! C’mon Jacques, give Raymond what he wants. He sat on the sidelines while you co-headlined a major TV event! The least you could do is let him pick where to visit first!
I needed that Live Event report. Had forgotten that we’re both promoting Cage Matches this month, and I’m looking forward to them equally. I don’t really recall you booking many battle royals so I would imagine whoever wins it is getting a nudge. Either that, or it’s a way to thank someone who’s already put in the work.
Great main event. Big fan of both guys and what they’ve been doing in GCW. The interference at the end was expected, but still so effective. Blanchard still looks fresh for Wahoo, and the heat going into the Cage Match is escalated.
Seeing Martel on the Flower Shop just makes me think of how entertaining a team between Adonis and “The Model” could be, but I don’t think Adonis will be around if and when The Model comes around. Good segment, especially for Adonis. Martel is a major player and getting a match on TV should do Adonis wonders, win or lose.
Big fan of the writeup and I’m looking forward to seeing what’s in store for the Boston Garden.

1/11/86 - Boston Garden - Boston, MA
MATCH #1 Koko B. Ware vs. "Adorable" Adrian Adonis (w/ Jimmy Hart)
Koko B. Ware has been setting GCW on fire since he made his recent debut, scoring a big win over Bad News Brown. Ware has a huge upside, but Adrian Adonis was looking to slow him down in a big way in our opening contest. Adonis is often able to get into his opponents' heads with his flamboyant antics, but let's be honest - Koko B. Ware is an extremely flamboyant man as well with his sparkly ring vest and crazy dance moves. Adonis, despite his unique persona, is still an extremely tough guy who can't be underestimated. Good thing for Koko that he didn't. Instead, Ware used his speed and agility to stay a step ahead of Adonis. Koko B. Ware flew off the middle turnbuckle with a flying forearm which was enough to get the duke.
Koko B. Ware pinned Adrian Adonis after a flying forearm in 0:08:57. Rating: *** 1/2
MATCH #2 Non-Title Match "Chief" Wahoo McDaniel vs. Tully Blanchard (Television champion) (w/ Bobby Heenan)
Tully Blanchard has held the TV Title since August, whether by hook or crook. He has turned away every challenger one way or another, but one man he has been having issue with recently is Wahoo McDaniel. The veteran has a claim to the TV Title as he never lost the championship in a match last summer, but rather a knee injury forced the title to be vacated. Well Wahoo's left knee is healed, and he is gunning for the strap. Since this was not a televised event, the match was non-title, something Blanchard made sure to remind McDaniel of several times in the early stages of the match. Wahoo wasn't phased by Blanchard's mind games, staying focused on the task at hand. Blanchard worked over Wahoo's left knee, hoping to get that injury to flare up again. But Wahoo wasn't just going to lay down, mounting a rally Blanchard couldn't get out of, locking on the Indian Deathlock, and making he champ submit!
Wahoo McDaniel made Tully Blanchard submit to the Indian Deathlock in 0:10:40. Rating: ***
Blanchard rolled out of the ring and immediately went into denial mode, clutching the TV Title as he limped to the back with Bobby Heenan. After the show, it was announced that because of this result, Wahoo McDaniel has earned his shot at the TV Title and it will take place in two weeks time! On January 25 on Superstars, it will be Blanchard vs. McDaniel for the gold!
MATCH #3 Falls-Count-Anywhere Match for the Intercontinental Title Ted DiBiase (c) vs. "The Canadian Strongman" Dino Bravo
This feud between Ted DiBiase & Dino Bravo has become so personal, featuring more than one pull apart brawl as they tried to settle their differences for the Intercontinental Title. This match was to be contested under falls-count-anywhere rules, meaning that wherever these two wanted to go over the Boston Garden, they were allowed in order to settle the score. With the nature of this match, Bravo's manager Jimmy Hart was barred from ringside, meaning that we were going to get a decisive winner with no outside shenanigans. With pinfalls counting anywhere, DiBiase & Bravo took advantage of the stips, spending very little time in the ring before the brawl spilled to the outside. There were also no disqualifications in this match, so anything that wasn't bolted down ended up being used as a weapon. DiBiase showed that he wasn't ready for his title reign to end yet as he found a way to kick out of Bravo's Side Suplex on the floor, a superhuman feat of strength that only a feud this personal can produce. The tide turned in DiBiase's favor for good when Bravo was trying to pick DiBiase up at ringside. DiBiase shoved Bravo away, causing Bravo's back to smash into the wooden ringsteps. DiBiase scored with a backbreaker, which was just enough to secure victory and put an end to this feud.
Falls-Count-Anywhere Match: Ted DiBiase pinned Dino Bravo after a backbreaker in 0:10:01. Ted DiBiase suffered a torn groin. He will be out for approximately 1 month. Rating: **** (Ted DiBiase retained the GCW Intercontinental Title.)
DiBiase is still the Intercontinental champion, but didn't leave without battle scars. He suffered a minor tear in his groin. The injury could have been much worse, but if DiBiase takes it easy for a couple of weeks, he will make a full recovery.
THE FABULOUS ONES ARE NOT HERE
We were expecting to see the match between the Fabulous Ones and the Electric Dream Machine we were supposed to see at Slam Masters before both teams decided their entrances were far more important. However, after the extra sparkly Jimmy Garvin & Steve Regal came to the ring, instead of the Fabulous Ones being announced, Garvin grabbed the mic from Howard Finkel. Garvin told the sold out Boston Garden that Stan Lane & Steve Keirn were not there, and they weren't ever coming back, citing how "scared of the sparkle" they were. Mr. Electricity added that they were right to run scared, and there wasn't a team in the world that wouldn't be shaking in their boots if they found out they had to meet the Electric Dream Machine. Garvin & Regal continued their ridiculous celebration, not noticing that two large men had entered the ring from the crowd and were standing right behind them. It took a bit for the crowd to realize who they were, but the place exploded when they saw it was HAWK & ANIMAL, the Road Warriors! The Road Warriors are in GCW! Hawk & Animal spun the EDM around and leveled them both with huge clotheslines. "Pretty" Paul Ellering hit the ring as well, grabbing the mic and introducing Hawk & Animal to the crowd, telling the EDM that they were looking at the Fabulous Ones' replacements for the night.
MATCH #4 The Road Warriors (w/ Paul Ellering) vs. The Electric Dream Machine (w/ Precious)
Garvin & Regal didn't know what hit them. When you prepare for the Fabulous Ones and unexpectedly get the Road Warriors instead, you're in a lot of trouble. The fans in Boston didn't even have time to sit down before the Road Warriors hit the Doomsday Device to put this one away. The entire complexion of the tag team division has changed as Hawk & Animal have put GCW on notice.
The Road Warriors (Hawk and Animal) defeated The Electric Dream Machine (Jimmy Garvin and Steve Regal) when Hawk pinned S. Regal after the Doomsday Device in 0:01:22. Rating: * 1/4
MATCH #5 15-Man Battle Royal Participants: Barry Windham, Junkyard Dog, Bad News Brown, Big John Studd, Arn Anderson, Chavo Guerrero, Dos Caras, Jacques Rougeau, Raymond Rougeau, The Iron Sheik, Nikolai Volkoff, Shiro Koshinaka, Corporal Kirchner, Bret Hart, Jim Neidhart
There was a lot of big talent in this battle royal, but there were none bigger than Big John Studd. By the time this 15-man battle royal was over, Studd accounted for eliminating a third of the field by himself. He also had fellow Heenan Family member Arn Anderson alongside him to watch his back. Alliances proved to be very important in this match as the Foreign Legion also did quite well for themselves. The final 5 men were Studd, Barry Windham (who managed to take Anderson out to take out Studd's backup), and then all 3 members of the Foreign Legion - The Iron Sheik, Nikolai Volkoff, & Shiro Koshinaka. This was a dangerous situation for Windham, because there was no chance he was going to join forces with Studd given his issues with the Heenan Family, so he was essentially on an island. Freddie Blassie had his lieges go after Windham first. Windham struck back quickly and even managed to get Volkoff out of the match with a forearm smash, but that is when Studd came over and took charge. Studd shoved Koshinaka & Sheik out of the way, locked a chokehold on Windham before dumping him out of the ring.
Sheik & Koshinaka tried to double team Studd, but Studd was not going to be detoured. They had the big man reeling for a bit, but Sheik missed a clothesline on Studd, accidentally hitting the Japanese Assassin instead. Koshinaka flew over the top and we were down to two. Sheik came right at Studd, and he is a man who has the strength to get Studd out of the ring. But it just wasn't going to be his night. Studd shook off Sheik's attack, grabbed him by the head, and took him to the floor, earning the victory.
15-Man Battle Royal: Big John Studd won a 15-man Battle Royal: x Kirchner threw out Neidhart after a Hotshot in 0:01:59 x Windham threw out B. Hart in 0:02:33 x Studd threw out Dos Caras after a hiptoss in 0:03:09 x JYD threw out Bad News in 0:04:01 x Sheik threw out JYD after a facerake in 0:04:10 x Studd threw out R. Rougeau after a kick to the midsection in 0:04:50 x Anderson threw out C. Guerrero in 0:06:15 x Sheik threw out Kirchner after a kick to the midsection in 0:06:44 x Studd threw out J. Rougeau in 0:07:08 x Windham threw out Anderson in 0:08:53 x Windham threw out Volkoff after a forearm smash in 0:09:09 x Studd threw out Windham in 0:10:01 x Sheik threw out Koshinaka with an errant clothesline in 0:11:11 x Studd threw out Sheik in 0:11:42 Rating: **
Bobby Heenan grabbed the microphone from Finkel after the Fink announced Studd the winner, declaring Big John Studd the TRUE giant of wrestling. There's a certain Andre the Giant who would beg to differ once he returns from injury.
MATCH #6 MAIN EVENT Steel Cage Match for the World Tag Team Titles "The American Dream" Dusty Rhodes/"Hacksaw" Jim Duggan (c) vs. Sgt. Slaughter/Stan "the Lariat" Hansen
After a brief intermission, the cage was constructed, and it was time for our huge main event. Dusty Rhodes & Jim Duggan shocked the world when they won the World Tag Team Titles at the year-end show in MSG, not because of who they are, but because of how relatively short their time as a team has been. Sgt. Slaughter & Stan Hansen got their rematch tonight, and in no surprise, they were pissed. Then again, when are they not? Regardless, putting this kind of battle inside of a steel cage was a recipe for destruction. This match was contested under escape rules only, meaning you would have to beat up your opponents so badly that they wouldn't be able to prevent you from leaving. Early on, neither team had any visions of leaving the ring as they were more concerned with beating the tar out of each other. As the fight raged on, the first man to get to the outside was Duggan. Duggan found some separation when he ducked a charging Hansen, causing Hansen to smash his face on the cage, getting busted open in the process. Duggan was on the floor, but the catch is, both members of the team had to make it to the floor for a winner to be declared. Once Hansen got his bearings, the Unholy Alliance took advantage of the numbers edge, double teaming Rhodes mercilessly. Duggan had all he could take and tried to get back into the ring, but once he got to the open door, Slaughter ran at him and caught him with a knee. Duggan flew off the apron to the floor, crashing into the ring barricade, getting knocked unconscious in the process. This left the American Dream all alone, which is not an enviable place to be in. Despite some valiant attempts at a comeback from Rhodes, Slaughter & Hansen were just simply too much. Rhodes was left lying, Slaughter & Hansen climbed out of the ring, and we had new tag team champions.
Cage Match: Sgt. Slaughter and Stan Hansen defeated Dusty Rhodes and Jim Duggan by escaping the cage in 0:13:13. Rating: ** (Sgt. Slaughter and Stan Hansen won the GCW World Tag Team Titles.)
Whether we like it or not, Slaughter & Hansen are once again holding the tag team gold in GCW. The fans in Boston certainly didn't like it as they pelted the new champs with garbage, Hansen narrowly missing getting struck with a beer bottle and having to be held back by police officers from running in the crowd to attack the man who threw it. All I know is GCW is a much more dangerous place when this tag team has the gold.
Card rating: ** 1/4
Match observations:
Another big show in the books. Be sure to join us next weekend for GCW Superstars as we inch our way closer to Super Cade II!

Big house show time!
Didn’t see Koko going over Adonis here, certainly not by pinfall. Koko’s looking good though in his early GCW career. I’m wondering how long before he takes on his familiar role.. or will we see the dark and brooding BIRDMAN someday?!?!
Wow, Wahoo coming through with a huge win! I didn’t remember he had vacated the TV Title due to injury so thanks for that reminder. That adds a little extra to Wahoo’s chase for the title. The rematch on Superstars could be historic.
With my first two predictions going the other way I thought Bravo could actually pull out a win. You’ve made Bravo relevant again with this feud. I don’t know where he’s headed after this but I know Dibiase will continue to climb in this Universe.
Oh my! The Road Warriors are in GCW! The spot you brought them into is PERFECT. They’re all business and they are a huge shot in the arm of your tag division. I’m pretty sure your entire locker room has taken notice.
I’ll always root against Studd. He quit WWA almost immediately after I opened the doors, forcing me to make some pretty big booking changes, and here he is winning Battle Royals in GCW! To make it worse, he last threw out the guy I was pulling for. I know Studd actually believes he’s the true giant in pro wrestling so I hope Andre flattens him in the near future.
The Unholy Alliance has so much heat that every time they’re around they evoke emotion. Young Duggan made a crucial mistake getting out of the cage early. Rhodes has nothing to be ashamed of as he hung with a couple of monsters as long as he could. Hansen & Slaughter are pretty unstoppable, which leads me to believe we’re headed for a massive collision between them and The Road Warriors.
The Universe is alive!

1/18/86 - GCW Superstars (TAPED: 12/17/85) LOCATION: Mid-Hudson Civic Center - Poughkeepsie, NY
Welcome to GCW Superstars! Gorilla Monsoon & Mark Niemiller were with us again as we start your weekend off right with the best wrestling in the world. Monsoon ran down the show, saying we'd have Junkyard Dog in action, as well as a rematch from MSG with Koko B. Ware taking on Bad News Brown! Not only that, but we would see the return of Robert Gibson as the Rock 'N Roll Express would be competing! And in the main event, Rick Martel meets "Adorable" Adrian Adonis! But first to Howard Finkel for our first contest of the day.
MATCH #1 Big John Studd (w/ Bobby Heenan) vs. Jeff Crippley/Al Navarro/Mike Saxon
One of the staples of Andre the Giant's career has been handicap matches. With Andre's size, he would often take on two opponents instead of one to honestly, give the opposition a fair chance. Studd has been trying to show he is the "true" giant in professional wrestling and wanted to go one step further, taking on 3 men today in our opening contest of Superstars. Even with 3, Studd threw them all around like ragdolls and picked up a quick win.
Handicap-Match: Big John Studd defeated Jeff Crippley, Al Navarro and Mike Saxon when Studd pinned Saxon with the Backbreaker in 0:01:26. Rating: -* 1/2
BIG JOHN STUDD SAYS HE IS THE TRUE GIANT OF PROFESSIONAL WRESTLING AGAIN
After the match, as has become habit, Bobby Heenan took the house mic and reminded everyone that Big John Studd was indeed the TRUE giant of professional wrestling and that Andre the Giant was an afterthought. Monsoon commented that Studd better hope he injured Andre badly enough that he never comes back, because Andre is not a man you want to make angry. Niemiller said that Studd isn't afraid of any man, especially not a hobbled freak like Andre the Giant. Monsoon told Niemiller he better watch what he says too because Andre might come after him as well, leaving Niemiller looking a little more than worried.
MATCH #2 Junkyard Dog vs. Don Driggers
JYD got the crowd up on his feet with his dance moves and antics en route to an easy win.
Junkyard Dog pinned Don Driggers with the Thump Powerslam in 0:02:30. Rating: -*
MATCH #3 Koko B. Ware vs. Bad News Brown
Koko B. Ware shocked the world when he was the man to answer Bad News Brown's open challenge at the year-end show, and not only that, but he actually pinned Brown's shoulders to the mat. Brown is somebody who has something you could describe as a temper, and he does not take being upstaged very well. In this rematch, Brown went right after Koko, wanting to hurt him in a hurry. Doing this left him open to several counter attacks with Koko's speed, leaving Bad News flustered. Koko even almost got the win again after hitting a sunset flip, the same move he pinned him with in New York, but Brown got out just in time. That would turn out to be Koko's best shot as Bad News would catch him with a low blow that the referee missed, followed up with the Ghetto Blaster, and got his win back.
Bad News Brown pinned Koko B. Ware with the Ghetto Blaster in 0:06:12. Rating: ** 1/2
THE ROAD WARRIORS ARE HERE
A video package on the newest tag team in GCW, the Road Warriors, aired next, highlighting their intimating look and great power. At the end of the video, "COMING IN THREE WEEKS" flashed across the screen, something surely the rest of the tag team division in Global Championship Wrestling is not looking forward to.
MATCH #4 The Rock 'N Roll Express vs. Gino Carabello/Rick Jacobs
Speaking of great tag teams, it was nice to see the Rock 'N Roll Express back in action. Robert Gibson has been on the shelf thanks to Sgt. Slaughter & Stan Hansen, but he looked better than ever as the former tag team champions made short work of their opponents today. During the match, an insert promo with Morton & Gibson told everyone that Gibson was healthy and he was fired up, and that RnR can't wait to get their hands on the Unholy Alliance and bring the World Tag Team Titles back where they belong. Niemiller scoffed at that, saying that if Gibson was smart he'd just stay away before the Unholy Alliance did even worst to him than they did last time. Monsoon thought that was ridiculous and said that everyone knows the Rock 'N Roll Express will never back down to anyone.
The Rock 'N Roll Express (Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson) defeated Gino Carabello and Rick Jacobs when R. Morton pinned Jacobs after a small package in 0:03:32. Rating: 1/2*
LIVE EVENT REPORT W/ GENE OKERLUND
A shorter version of the Live Event Report this week as "Mean" Gene Okerlund went over the happenings of the show in Boston last week, showing footage of Sgt. Slaughter & Stan Hansen regaining the World Tag Team Titles. Okerlund said that next week on Superstars, he would have a lot of big news about the upcoming few months in GCW!
MATCH #5 Rick Martel vs. "Adorable" Adrian Adonis (w/ Jimmy Hart)
We have never seen Rick Martel in a mood like this. Adrian Adonis got under his skin last week during the Flower Shop, and it led to this encounter. Martel never took his eyes off of Adonis, and as soon as the bell rang, Martel was all over the Adorable One. Jimmy Hart was yelling at referee Tommy Young to disqualify Martel for how relentless he was on the attack. Adonis took a powder to get some separation from Martel, but it didn't work as Martel followed him out and continued to pummel him. Martel slammed Adonis' head off of the announce table, causing Niemiller to scream like a girl. Meanwhile, Young was delivering the count. Martel didn't hear it or didn't care, tearing into Adonis until both men were counted out.
Adrian Adonis and Rick Martel battled to a double countout in 0:02:02. Rating: * 1/2
Martel was still throwing punches before Jimmy Hart tried to get Adonis away, eating a punch of his own. Adonis & Hart eventually did manage to get away as the fans cheered wildly for Martel. Niemiller said that Martel is dangerous and should be kicked out of Global Championship Wrestling. Monsoon said if you want to blame anyone, blame King Kong Bundy and Bobby Heenan for creating this monster.
UPCOMING EVENTS
4/7/86 - SUPER CADE II - Los Angeles Sports Arena - Los Angeles, CA

Building up Studd has been great. I feel like we have talked in length about how you have trouble booking big guys but so far you're doing a hell of a job with Studd, you're utilizing Andre perfectly, and you put the strap on a credible Bundy. I'd say you have found the right way to do it.
Bad News gets a win back. This has been a good introductory feud for Koko, trading back and forth with a legitimate bad ass has earned him some respect.
I can only imagine that Road Warriors vignette was soundtracked by "Iron Man". The world ends in 3 weeks.
Okerlund feeling the effects of a lengthy hiatus from the Universe as well.
Martel is a certified lunatic. I'm surprised he managed to leave this match without a broken bone or a concussion too. I'm digging the rub Adonis is getting from this feud too. He's a guy I hope makes a bigger impact here than he did IRL.
Super Cade II is already right around the corner?!? The road to Super Cade has begun!

1/25/86 - GCW Superstars (TAPED: 1/7/86) LOCATION: Mid-Hudson Civic Center - Poughkeepsie, NY
RICK MARTEL STARTS A PETITION
Before we got to the live arena, we got a pre-recorded video with Rick Martel. Martel continued stating what he has been saying recently and that is that King Kong Bundy & Bobby Heenan have gone too far. Martel said if something wasn't done about them, Bundy would continue hurting people. Martel added that the power of Bundy is aided by the fact that he holds the biggest title in the world, the GCW World Heavyweight Title. Martel said everyone knows that because of a misguided ruling by President Jack Tunney, he is no longer allowed to compete for the World Title during his career. Martel wants that overturned, and to do so, he said he needed the help of the fans. An address and telephone number popped up on the screen. Martel implored all of the fans watching at home to either write in or call the number on the screen, letting Tunney know that they want to see Martel beat Bundy for the World Title and end his reign of terror.
The opening for GCW Superstars followed, and Mark Niemiller was already talking about how insane Rick Martel was for thinking this ruling should be overturned. Gorilla Monsoon didn't think it was so crazy, saying that King Kong Bundy has went way too far in recent weeks and needs to be stopped. Niemiller said if anyone is going to stop Bundy, it's not going to be Martel - ever. With that, they went over the show, which will see Dino Bravo in action, as well as the Hart Foundation. Dusty Rhodes will meet Steve Regal, and in the featured bout, Wahoo McDaniel finally gets his chance to regain the Television Title against Tully Blanchard! Now to the ring for our first match.
MATCH #1 "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan vs. Rusty Brooks
Duggan may have had a setback when Dusty Rhodes & he lost the World Tag Team Titles in Boston, but he took the first step in getting back on track today with a solid victory. Duggan definitely seems to be a star on the rise.
Jim Duggan pinned Rusty Brooks with the Three Point Stance in 0:02:07. Rating: DUD
MATCH #2 "Canadian Strongman" Dino Bravo (w/ Jimmy Hart) vs. Tony Stetson
Dino Bravo came up short in his attempt to defeat Ted DiBiase for the Intercontinental Title, but all that seemed to do was put him in a bad mood for today. It took the Canadian Strongman less than 2 minutes to put Tony Stetson away. Niemiller said the word going around the locker room is that Bravo's quest for gold is not over.
Dino Bravo pinned Tony Stetson with the Side Suplex in 0:01:50. Rating: -1/2*
THE ROCK 'N ROLL EXPRESS ARE BACK AND WANT TO GET THEIR HANDS ON THE UNHOLY ALLIANCE
We got a video of an interview recorded last week with Lord Alfred Hayes by the Rock 'N Roll Express. Hayes welcomed Robert Gibson back, and Gibson said it was great to be back. But he wasn't coming back just for the feel good story; he was here to get back at the men who put him on the shelf in the first place. Morton echoed his partner's sentiments, saying that this wasn't just about the tag team titles. It was very personal, and they weren't going to rest until they had their revenge.
MATCH #3 "The American Dream" Dusty Rhodes vs. "Mr. Electricity" Steve Regal (w/ Jimmy Garvin/Precious)
The other half of the recent former World Tag Team champions was in action next as Dusty Rhodes took on Steve Regal of the Electric Dream Machine. Mr. Electricity as he is known had Jimmy Garvin & Precious as ringside with him, who spent most of the match yelling at Gorilla Monsoon about what the Road Warriors did to them in Boston. They should have been paying more attention to the American Dream. Maybe they could have prevented Regal from getting caught in a figure-four leglock and being forced to give up.
Dusty Rhodes made Steve Regal submit to a figure-four leglock in 0:06:00. Rating: **
A good win for Rhodes who, like Duggan, seems to have shaken off losing the tag titles. Monsoon let everyone know that next week on Superstars, Rhodes will be the guest on the Flower Shop to see what is next for the already legendary career of the American Dream.
MATCH #4 The Hart Foundation (w/ Jimmy Hart) vs. Mr. X/Joe Mirto
The Hart Foundation are really starting to come into their own, getting better every time we see them. Their combination of power and technical prowess is hard to contend with. Just ask Mr. X & Joe Mirto, who fell to them in this one. Niemiller made a bold prediction and said it was only a matter of time before the Hart Foundation win the World Tag Team Titles. Monsoon said they definitely have the talent, but noted that the little pipsqueak Jimmy Hart may be more of a hindrance than a help, a point Niemiller blew off.
The Hart Foundation (Bret Hart and Jim Neidhart) defeated Mr. X and Joe Mirto when B. Hart pinned Mr. X after the Hart Attack in 0:03:51. Rating: 1/2*
THE ROAD WARRIORS ARE READY TO DEBUT
The same video that aired last week hyping the TV debut of the Road Warriors aired again this week, this time saying the debut was taking place in two weeks.
THE LIVE EVENT REPORT WITH GENE OKERLUND
"Mean" Gene Okerlund was all fired up for this week's Live Event Report, because unlike last week, he had some big news to share in regards to the big events of GCW. First off, he had some news regarding the biggest event of the year, Super Cade II, taking place on Monday, April 7 from the Los Angeles Sports Arena. Okerlund said as of now, no matches have been announced, but of course the first place to hear about them would be here on the LER. What Okerlund could announce though is the first of the big time celebrities that will be at Super Cade II. The first who is confirmed to be there is Tommy Lasorda, the controversial manager of the Los Angeles Dodgers. Secondly, the scream queen will be there, the one and only lady of darkness, Elvira. Okerlund was particularly excited about that, saying he might just make his move on April 7.
Before we get to that though, Okerlund was proud to announce that on March 1, we will be having another MTV special, Saturday Night Slam Masters! The huge show will take place in Phoenix, AZ from the Veterans Memorial Coliseum. Again, just like Super Cade II, no matches have been officially announced yet, but Okerlund has heard rumblings from the President's office that we will be able to start announcing some of the show next week on Superstars.
MATCH #5 Television Title Match Tully Blanchard (c) (w/ Bobby Heenan/"The Enforcer" Arn Anderson) vs. "Chief" Wahoo McDaniel
Wahoo McDaniel has been looking forward to this opportunity since an injury forced him to vacate the Television Title back in August of last year. Since Wahoo has returned, he not only got the deciding fall in War Games, but just two weeks ago, McDaniel made Tully Blanchard cry uncle in a non-title match. If he could do that today, Wahoo would be the new TV champion. Blanchard was not happy about this title defense and looked to get out of it early. Blanchard was hoping to get disqualified so he'd get to retain the gold, throwing Wahoo to the floor where Arn Anderson was waiting. The Enforcer caught Wahoo with a blatant clothesline right in front of referee Danny Davis. Blanchard immediately told Davis to ring the bell, he lost by DQ but kept the title. Davis didn't do that, however. Instead, he ordered Anderson to leave ringside and said the match MUST continue! Heenan protested, getting in the ring and getting right in Davis' face. Heenan went as far as to shove Davis hoping to get that DQ, but instead, he was thrown out too!
Blanchard's plan was foiled, and now he was going to have to defeat Wahoo straight up. Blanchard was having all kinds of trouble with the veteran McDaniel, who was picking Blanchard apart. This is when the crafty TV champion went to work, slowing Wahoo down with a eye poke and then clipping Wahoo's previously injured left knee. Blanchard was ruthless in his targeting of the knee, seemingly trying to make it so Wahoo could never walk again. Tully couldn't put Wahoo away though which was getting him quite out of sorts. Blanchard made a mistake by going up to the top rope, looking to drop a knee on Wahoo's leg, but Wahoo moved and Tully connected only with canvas. Wahoo knew this was his chance, quickly locking on the Indian Deathlock. It looked like Blanchard was going to quit, but he managed to reach up and "accidentally" poke Wahoo in the eye again. Blanchard hit the Slingshot Suplex and narrowly escaped with the Television Title.
Tully Blanchard pinned Wahoo McDaniel with the Slingshot Suplex in 0:11:24. Rating: ** (Tully Blanchard retained the GCW Television Title.)
Heenan & Anderson joined Blanchard in the ring for the celebration, but you could tell Blanchard knew he got away by the skin of his teeth. Now that the match was over, Blanchard & Anderson could attack Wahoo freely, putting the boots to him. They had him setup for a spike piledriver when BARRY WINDHAM ran in and clocked Blanchard in the back of the head. He then grabbed Blanchard and threw him into the corner Anderson was up on, sending Blanchard's head into Anderson where the sun don't shine. Anderson fell over the ropes and to the floor. Blanchard would soon join him after Wahoo caught him with a knee. The show went off the air with Windham & Wahoo standing tall in the ring.
Be sure to join us next week on Superstars! Dusty Rhodes will be the special guest on the Flower Shop, Chavo Guerrero will take on Arn Anderson, Barry Windham will be in action, and in the featured bout, Junkyard Dog will join forces with Koko B. Ware to take on The Iron Sheik & Nikolai Volkoff! Don't miss it!

Martel will get more than enough support from the fans, but man, he’ll just get his ass kicked again. This is a tremendous idea though.
I don’t know why but Duggan’s one of my favorites on your roster. I hope he doesn’t slide too much down the card after losing the belts.
I recognize Tony Stetson from ECW’s early days. I like that Bravo isn’t quite done yet.
Lord Alfred interviewing Ricky and Robert is actually pretty hilarious.
Let’s be honest, Garvin and Precious would NOT have prevented the loss no matter what. The Flower Shop is a strange place to go to talk about your future, Dusty. Does he even know who hosts that?
I think I predicted the Harts would have Tag gold before ’86 is over. Then you signed The Road Warriors. I’m not so confident they’ll have the tag belts in ’86 anymore.
You don’t have to promote ANY matches for Super Cade. I was sold at Elvira.
I think it’s great how Davis threw out Heenan and Arn rather than DQ’ing. It’s a big win for Blanchard, too. Windham’s another guy you’re booking well. There was a time I thought he had moved into the main event permanently but a feud with Tully and Arn won’t be bad for him until he gets back there.

2/1/86 - GCW Superstars (TAPED: 1/7/86) LOCATION: Mid-Hudson Civic Center - Poughkeepsie, NY
RICK MARTEL DOING SOME GRASSROOTS CAMPAIGNING
As GCW Superstars kicked off this week, we saw Rick Martel continuing his campaign to get President Jack Tunney to reverse his ruling about never wrestling for the World Title again. Not only does Martel have a call-in and write-in campaign ongoing (which apparently are going very well so far), but he also wanted to get signatures from the live crowd in the Mid-Hudson Civic Center. Martel was going through with a clipboard getting fans to sign to support his cause. Mark Niemiller downplayed this, saying that it was going to take more than a few signatures from these morons to make a difference. Gorilla Monsoon gave a, "Will you be serious!?" before we cut to the intro video.
After the video, Monsoon & Niemiller ran down today's show, which will feature Chavo Guerrero taking on Arn Anderson, the debut of The Barbarian, and in the main event, Junkyard Dog & Koko B. Ware will team up to meet The Iron Sheik & Nikolai Volkoff! Niemiller said not to forget that Dusty Rhodes will be the special guest on the Flower Shop, where he was sure Adrian Adonis would hit him with all the hard-hitting questions. Monsoon rolled his eyes before sending it to the ring for our first match.
MATCH #1 Barry Windham vs. Tony Stetson
As Barry Windham was coming down to the ring, we got an insert promo with Television champion Tully Blanchard, Arn Anderson, and their manager Bobby Heenan. They said that Windham should have learned his lesson a long time ago and he will pay for not staying out of their business. If Windham was worried about the retribution of the Heenan Family, he didn't show it as he hit the Superplex for the win.
Barry Windham pinned Tony Stetson with the Superplex in 0:03:03. Rating: * 1/4
MATCH #2 Chavo Guerrero vs. "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson
Chavo Guerrero is known for having a good time, but the Enforcer was not in the mood. Arn Anderson jumped Chavo before the match even started and rarely let up. Chavo tried to use his lucha style to keep some distance, but Anderson meticulously picked him apart before hitting the Gourdbuster to pick up the win.
Arn Anderson pinned Chavo Guerrero with the Gourdbuster in 0:05:19. Rating: *** 1/4
THE FLOWER SHOP W/ GUEST DUSTY RHODES
Back from break we were at the set of The Flower Shop as "Adorable" Adrian Adonis welcomed guest, former World champion "The American Dream" Dusty Rhodes. Rhodes received a big ovation as he danced for the crowd. Adonis asked Rhodes if he had lost weight, saying he looked to be at least 15 pounds lighter after losing the World Tag Team Titles. Rhodes feigned being amused by the joke and said he's lost more titles than Adonis has even had shots at so to watch himself. Rhodes added that though he really enjoyed teaming with Jim Duggan and will be there if Hacksaw needs anything, they have decided to go their separate ways. Adonis asked if he's not teaming with Duggan anymore, what is he going to do? Rhodes said there is very little he hasn't done in GCW, but he is always hungry for more. Rhodes said that he wants to be World champion again, as Rick Martel isn't the only guy who thinks King Kong Bundy has gone too far. So Rhodes was formally challenging Bundy to put up the World Title against him. He said he didn't care if it was today, next week, or at Super Cade, all he wanted was a shot.
MATCH #3 The Barbarian vs. Mike Saxon
We got to see a new talent compete for the first time today, and boy was he scary. Known simply The Barbarian, that's exactly how he wrestled - like a savage beast. Mike Saxon had no answers as he was mauled throughout this match. Monsoon & Niemiller rarely agree on anything, but they both agreed that The Barbarian is going to be a very dangerous man in GCW.
The Barbarian pinned Mike Saxon with the Diving Headbutt in 0:02:22. Rating: DUD
TED DIBIASE WITH AN OPEN CHALLENGE
Lord Alfred Hayes was standing by backstage with Ted DiBiase, the reigning and defending Intercontinental champion. DiBiase had asked for this time, so Lord Alfred wanted to know what DiBiase wanted to get off his chest. DiBiase put over Dino Bravo, who he had just had several wars with, but he mentioned he walked out with the IC Title still around his waist. DiBiase said he wanted to be a fighting champion because the battles with Bravo brought out the best in him. He mentioned he had talked to Jack Tunney and got his request granted. In two weeks time here on Superstars, he was putting out an open challenge to anyone who wanted a shot at the IC Title. DiBiase didn't care who answered, as long as they were coming to fight.
LIVE EVENT REPORT W/ GENE OKERLUND
You can always tell when Gene Okerlund has some news to break because he always seems just a little more excited for the Live Event Report. He did indeed have some news, starting with our next big event, Saturday Night Slam Masters from Phoenix, AZ on March 1. Okerlund said the card was still pending, but he could announce the first official match for the show. It will be a tag team match pitting Wahoo McDaniel & Barry Windham against Arn Anderson & Television champion Tully Blanchard! Okerlund said that as he gets more matches for the big MTV special, he'll let us know.
Okerlund had more news though, this time about a show to take place the day after Slam Masters. On March 2, GCW returns north of the border to the Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto for a big time live event. No matches in the books yet.
But the biggest news this week is that the first match for Super Cade II has officially been signed, and it is a big one… literally! On April 7 in Los Angeles, the match we have all been waiting for will take place. It will be Big John Studd taking on Andre the Giant! Studd has been claiming to be the true giant of professional wrestling, so now he will get his chance to prove it. This will be the first match back for Andre after Studd injured him back in December, and surely he will be out for revenge.
MATCH #4 Junkyard Dog/Koko B. Ware vs. The Iron Sheik/Nikolai Volkoff (w/ Freddie Blassie)
Early on in our feature contest for the day, SHIRO KOSHINAKA made his way down to the ring, because you know with the Foreign Legion, where you see one, you're bound to see the rest of them. The tides would get evened up when CORPORAL KIRCHNER would come down to support Junkyard Dog & Koko B. Ware. With all of these combustible elements at ringside, it was only a matter of time before all hell broke loose. Late in the match as Koko hit the ropes, Koshinaka reached in and tripped him up. Kirchner didn't like it as he ran over and tackled Koshinaka, firing away at him with right hands. The Iron Sheik jumped off the apron to go after Kirchner, which prompted JYD to go around to get in on the fight. Since things were already crazy anyway, Volkoff caught Koko with a low blow and this match was officially thrown out.
Junkyard Dog and Koko B. Ware defeated The Foreign Legion (Nikolai Volkoff and The Iron Sheik) when K. B. Ware defeated Volkoff by disqualification in 0:07:17. Rating: *
We were already almost out of time, but we went off the air with all 6 men brawling around ringside with the crowd going nuts.
Join us next week on Superstars for another fantastic show! Tully Blanchard & Arn Anderson will team to take on their old rivals, the Rougeau Brothers! Dino Bravo will be in action, as well as the World Tag Team champions Sgt. Slaughter & Stan Hansen! "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan will be in action as well. And we just received word, that the Electric Dream Machine, upset with how they were "ambushed and cheated" in Boston have actually volunteered to take on the Road Warriors in their GCW TV debut! You will want to set your VCRs to record for this one! See you next week, folks!

We made it to February!
Martel still at it. I think Niemiller is right though, it’s going to take more than signatures.
Insert promos. I should use them more often. It would make Ken Resnick’s job in WWA a little easier.
I don’t know a whole lot about the real life careers of the Guerrero’s outside of Eddie and a bit of what research I’ve done into Hector since I’m booking him. Eddie will surely still be the most successful but I feel like we’ve already built up a bigger stateside legacy for the family than real life.
Rhodes is a legit threat to Bundy. It will be interesting to see how Heenan and Bundy respond to the challenge. Envisioning this promo, if Adonis was a little less… ahem… flamboyant… he and Rhodes would make a very interesting team.
The Barbarian is on the loose. I’m very intrigued to see what you do with him since he’s pretty green here and has no manager yet. I feel like there are quite a few seasoned options on the market that could fill the same role as Barbarian so you must have a pretty good plan for him.
Open challenges always seem like a bad idea. I really like that Bravo was given his dues in the promo. Legitimizes him even more after he seemed to slide quite a bit over the past year. And I’ve been a fan of everything Dibiase has done for GCW so far.
Yes! Super Cade is starting to come together! Studd and Andre was a match that had to happen in the Universe so I’m glad it’s been booked.
The 6 man had mess written all over it. I’d imagine the haymakers were heavy and Koko took a great deal of punishment from the Legion. I’d imagine we’re getting a 6 man tag at one of the upcoming events.
Star studded line up for next week. Consider my VCR programmed.

2/8/86 - GCW Superstars (TAPED: 1/28/86) LOCATION: Mid-Hudson Civic Center - Poughkeepsie, NY
Gorilla Monsoon & Mark Niemiller were here for this week's episode of GCW Superstars! Dino Bravo will be here, as will "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan! Not only that, but we will see the World Tag Team champions, Sgt. Slaughter & Stan Hansen! And in our feature match, the Rougeau Brothers meet Tully Blanchard & Arn Anderson! But to the ring for our first contest!
MATCH #1 The Road Warriors (w/ Paul Ellering) vs. The Electric Dream Machine (w/ Precious)
The Electric Dream Machine are insane, plain and simple. To not only agree to face the Road Warriors, but volunteer!? Lunacy. This was the TV debut of Hawk & Animal, along with manager Paul Ellering, and they were DOMINANT. Jimmy Garvin & Steve Regal literally didn't get in a single offensive move in this massacre. The fans were in a frenzy by the end of this as Hawk mercifully put down Mr. Electricity with a flying shoulderblock.
The Road Warriors (Hawk and Animal) defeated The Electric Dream Machine (Jimmy Garvin and Steve Regal) when Hawk pinned S. Regal after a flying shoulderblock in 0:03:53. Rating: *
Monsoon said this might be the most impressive tag team he has ever seen, and as someone who is a former 3-time World Tag Team champion, he knows what he is talking about. Even the disagreeable Niemiller couldn't dispute that, saying that the entire complexion of the tag team division in GCW has changed.
Monsoon threw it back to Lord Alfred Hayes who had a special guest.
TED DIBIASE'S OPEN CHALLENGE IS ANSWERED
Lord Alfred was standing by with Bad News Brown. Hayes looked a little flustered as he mentioned that Brown essentially grabbed him by the shirt and dragged him here to do this interview, so he told Brown to get on with it. Brown kept it short and sweet, saying that he heard Ted DiBiase running his mouth last week about he was willing to take on anyone for the Intercontinental Title. Brown said that the list is going to be short, because next week on Superstars, he was answering DiBiase's challenge and he would bring the IC Title to a real man.
MATCH #2 "Canadian Strongman" Dino Bravo (w/ Jimmy Hart) vs. Rudy Diamond
Dino Bravo really highlighted the "strong" part of his nickname, using a variety of power moves in this match with Rudy Diamond. The Side Suplex did Diamond in.
Dino Bravo pinned Rudy Diamond with the Side Suplex in 0:03:20. Rating: 1/2*
RICK MARTEL IN LOS ANGELES
We cut to a video from earlier this week of Rick Martel in Los Angeles, the home of the upcoming Super Cade II show, again doing his man on the street campaign to get signatures in his quest for President Jack Tunney to overturn his decision that Martel can never wrestle for the World Title. The address and phone number you could contact to support Martel's cause flashed on the screen before we cut to commercial.
MATCH #3 "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan vs. Jim Londos
"Hacksaw" Jim Duggan and his 2x4 keep rolling along with a victory.
Jim Duggan pinned Jim Londos with the Three Point Stance in 0:02:42. Rating: DUD
MATCH #4 Non-Title Match Sgt. Slaughter/Stan "The Lariat" Hansen (World Tag Team champions) vs. Menace/Ron Shaw
Sgt. Slaughter & Stan Hansen are once again World Tag Team champions, which is bad news for the rest of the tag team division. Ron Shaw & Menace were not much match for the Unholy Alliance, and poor Shaw looked like he would rather be anywhere else than in the ring with these monsters. Shaw more or less left Menace on his own, letting Hansen Lariat Menace's head off for the win.
Sgt. Slaughter and Stan Hansen defeated Menace and Ron Shaw when Hansen pinned Menace with the Lariat in 0:02:50. Rating: 1/2*
After the match, Slaughter & Hansen forced a scared Howard Finkel to hold the microphone for them while they acknowledged the Rock 'N Roll Express' recent challenge to a World Tag Team Title match. Slaughter laughed at how insane Robert Gibson must be to want to have anything to do with them when the Unholy Alliance was all set to just leave them alone for good. Slaughter said he could find it in his heart to beat the tar out of Gibson one more time. He offered Gibson a proposition. If Gibson could survive a 1-on-1 match with him at Saturday Night Slam Masters on March 1, the Unholy Alliance would be more than happy to grant them another shot at the tag team titles.
LIVE EVENT REPORT W/ GENE OKERLUND
"Mean" Gene Okerlund was here for the Live Event Report, and he was excited, even for him. The first show he went over was Saturday Night Slam Masters, taking place March 1 from Phoenix, AZ. Okerlund was happy to announce that after what we just heard from the Unholy Alliance, on Slam Masters, it will be Robert Gibson taking on Sgt. Slaughter, and we now know that if Gibson wins, the Rock 'N Roll Express will wrestle for the World Tag Team Titles at Super Cade II! Gibson has wanted this for weeks, and now on March 1, he is going to get it! This match, along with Wahoo McDaniel & Barry Windham vs. Tully Blanchard & Arn Anderson, is going to make this a show you don't want to miss. And there are still more matches to be announced.
Okerlund made a quick mention of the March 2 event from the Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Okerlund said that he can now officially announce the first two matches for this show. The first would be GCW newcomer, The Barbarian, taking on another fresh face, Koko B. Ware! The other match is a title match that could change the entire complexion of Super Cade II. We know that Robert Gibson is fighting for the right to a tag team title shot for the Rock 'N Roll Express at Slam Masters, but Slaughter & Hansen may not even be champions by that point regardless, as on March 2, they defend the titles against the Rougeau Brothers! The Rougeaus have been very impressive in recent months, and they will have the opportunity of a lifetime in their home country!
And finally, Okerlund hit the big one. Super Cade II, live from the Los Angeles Sports Arena on Monday, April 7. Okerlund gave an injury update on Andre the Giant, who is signed to take on Big John Studd in a Battle of True Giants. Okerlund said he talked to Andre's personal physician who made note that Andre's rehab is on schedule and he will be ready to go at Super Cade. In addition, Okerlund brought up how Tommy Lasorda & Elvira will be on hand. We also know now that the incomparable RAY CHARLES will be singing "America, the Beautiful" to kick off the show! Okerlund plugged how to order the pay-per-view before throwing it back to ringside.
MATCH #5 The Rougeau Brothers vs. Tully Blanchard (Television champion)/"The Enforcer" Arn Anderson (w/ Bobby Heenan)
Featured match time, and we got an insert promo from the Rougeau Brothers. They talked about the excitement they feel that they will get a shot at the World Tag Team Titles in their homeland of Canada. Jacques said how great it would be to go on their next bird watching tour with the GCW World Tag Team Titles. They had Tully Blanchard & Arn Anderson to contend with first, and these teams are no strangers to each other. The Rougeaus looked very motivated and want to go into their title shot with momentum, but there are few depths Bobby Heenan's men won't go to in order to win. Jacques thought he had the match locked up when he threw Blanchard to the ropes and clotheslined him down before quickly putting on the Boston Crab. Unfortunately he did not see that Blanchard had made a blind tag to Anderson. The Enforcer slid in, dropped Jacques with the Gourdbuster, and this one was over.
The Heenan Family (Arn Anderson and Tully Blanchard) defeated The Rougeau Brothers (Jacques Rougeau and Raymond Rougeau) when Anderson pinned J. Rougeau with the Gourdbuster in 0:08:04. Rating: ***
A great showing for the Rougeaus, but they came up just short. They'll have time to regroup before their big title opportunity.
BOBBY HEENAN HAS AN ANSWER FOR DUSTY RHODES
To end the show, we had a video interview recorded earlier with Bobby "The Brain" Heenan and the World Heavyweight champion King Kong Bundy. Heenan tried to bury Rick Martel's campaign saying that the worst thing that could happen to him would be for Jack Tunney to reverse his ruling because it would be the last match that Martel ever wrestled. In regards to the challenge of Dusty Rhodes, Heenan said that just like Martel, the American Dream just doesn't know when to quit. Heenan said that Bundy accepts Rhodes' challenge, and promises the match will be a message to Rick Martel and anyone else who wants to stand up to the Monster that it will have a sad ending. Bundy said that in two weeks on Superstars, the American Dream turns into a nightmare.
Join us next week on Superstars where we will have an action-packed hour of wrestling for you. Barry Windham will be here, as will the Rock 'N Roll Express! The Barbarian will be in action, and we will see Corporal Kirchner take on Nikolai Volkoff! And in our main event, the open challenge has been answered - Bad News Brown will challenge Ted DiBiase for the Intercontinental Title!

Oh man. The Road Warriors are going to destroy so many people before they get a challenge. I like the nod to Universe history with the mention of Monsoon's past successes. It's nice to be reminded now and again.
I knew an Open Challenge was a bad idea. Dibiase's gone and got himself into a FIGHT with Bad News Brown now!
Rudy Diamond's original name was Rudy Carbon until Dino Bravo's heat and power crushed him into a gem... I'll stop.
Martel should think about taking out a billboard ad in LA.
Duggan's nailing those DUDs lately. No matter. He's still one of my favs.
Gibson taking on Slaughter is an interesting choice, considering Hansen vs. Morton seems more marquee. At least for me. And maybe that's not far away.
Andre's rehab, I'd imagine, consists of exactly 3 cases of beer and sleeping. It's crazy you're booking for practically 3 big shows at once.
Both of these main event teams have pretty big matches ahead so either one of them taking a loss hurts.
Nice promo from Heenan. Rhodes vs. Bundy is money. I don't know if I'd give it away on Slam Masters or have it headline Toronto. Either way it should be really good.

Yeah, the booking regimé so to speak is complex here in your universe, so kudos for managing to juggle so many shows. I'm wondering when NWF talent start coming over. As I might have mentioned earlier, I thought NWF had the better talent for quite a while. Will you and Vertigo be running some sort of draft?
|
|
|
Post by snabbit888 on Oct 9, 2015 8:59:56 GMT -5
No draft. We're just running now like NWF went out of business, so all of the talent is free to sign wherever they want.
vertigo and I are also running under a new rule where we aren't telling the other who we've signed. Since we are each other's main audience, we wanted to keep surprises available. So essentially, if it ever comes up that we have both signed the same wrestler, whoever gets them on TV first actually gets them. We figure in the rare circumstances that might happen, it could lead to some cool controversies and give us more obstacles to book around.
