First card in the newer, leaner, meaner, shorter, writing style, so things may be a bit shaky until I find my feet. Anyway, enjoy.

NAWA Glory 12/22/06
We recap last Sunday Night at StarClash 06, featuring Teddy Hart and Mia Stylish defeating Abyss and Awesome Kong in a mixed tag team match when Teddy Hart beating Kong, where the winning team walks out with the NAWA World and Women’s Title, Harry Harris triumphing in a steel cage match that has to be seen to believed against Samoa Joe, and Kurt Angle walking into the NAWA with his first win against Miles Stylish. The show is available on demand for the next few weeks, check it out.
We head backstage after StarClash 06, where Kurt Angle is standing by, as he gets checked out by the trainer. He talks about how a victory is only as good as the challenge that is given and he is happy to say that Miles Stylish gave him a great challenge. Angle says that Miles Stylish is for real but so is Kurt Angle. Angle said that his run in the NAWA got off to the right foot and he hopes to have many more epic matches. He says that he has his sights set on the NAWA World Championship and will be the only person in history to hold the WWE, WCW, and NAWA Championships. He suspect that he’ll face Miles Stylish again all too soon but he welcomes a challenge.
Miles Stylish hobbles off angrily, not happy about his loss, and gets in his car, slamming the door, without changing out of his gear and the car drives off into the night.
Backstage:
We are in the office of the NAWA Owner Larry Sweeney, who talks about how the mixed tag team match this Sunday ended with Kong losing her championship to Mia Stylish, without getting pinned by the woman in question. Perfectly within the rules, but Kong gets a return shot tonight against Mia Stylish. Also in the interest of fairness, Teddy Hart puts the NAWA World Title on the line against Abyss.
We go through the opening and the hype for the line-up for tonight, but suddenly, we head to the back, where the NAWA World Champion Teddy Hart and Abyss are brawling. Teddy Hart is still in his street clothes. He is going to put that belt on the line against Abyss later tonight but now he is in a brawl with Abyss. Hart is fighting Abyss like his life depended on it and the battle goes all through the backstage area, and into the arena. Abyss is in the arena and Teddy Hart hits a running dropkick to knock Abyss right down the ramp and beats on him, before sending him into the ringsteps. Abyss boots Hart in the face and Hart is thrown right into the ring. A referee rushes down to the ringside area, on the orders of Larry Sweeney, as Abyss beats on Hart. The bell rings and we’re going to start this match right now.
NAWA World Title Match:
Abyss vs. Teddy Hart©
Hart wisely goes right for the legs, but once Abyss gets his hands on the NAWA World Champion, he gets battered. Abyss launches Hart right to the arena floor and goes right after him, slamming him right into the guardrail. Hart fights back but Abyss hoists him up and dumps him right onto the guardrail. Abyss climbs right over the guardrail and continues to beat on Teddy Hart, but the referee decides to call for the bell, having thrown this match out almost as soon as it has started!
Abyss and Teddy Hart battled to a no-contest in 0:04:08.
Rating: **
(Teddy Hart retained the NAWA World Title.)
Abyss continues to beat on Teddy Hart but Teddy manage manages to fight back, beating on Abyss as security is trying to keep the fans back, while breaking up these two. Abyss charges Teddy Hart, knocking right over security and also there is a yell of, “THAT SON OF A BITCH HIT MY KIDS!” right before Abyss nailed Hart with a big boot to the face. Abyss beats on Hart, as fans are backing off, scared of Abyss, as apparently he took some young NAWA fans out in his destructive path. Hart launches himself at Abyss, knocking him back into the arena and away from the fans.
Security is out and Larry Sweeney is out as well, to tell Abyss to back off. We can’t really see what has been going on, but apparently one or more fans have been severely injured. That’s not a good sign, as the New Age Wrestling Alliance could have a huge liability lawsuit on their hands. Teddy Hart is checking on the fans, a teenager girl and her younger brother, who apparently have been wiped out by Abyss. The mother is yelling, telling security that she wants that monster locked up, that she’s pressing charges, and Abyss stalks up the ramp, with the fans backing away from Abyss as he is about to walk past them. No one is touching him, one person yells at Abyss and then Abyss slowly turns his head, causing the fan to back off in horror.
We’re going to try and get on with this show, and hopefully we can do just that with a return match from this past Sunday Night, Alex Shelley meets Austin Aries, don’t you dare touch that dial.
[COMMERCIAL]
Alex Shelley vs. Austin Aries
Last time they competed, Shelley got the win and managed to get some dominance during the early going, with some low impact moves and holds, but Aries gained the heat, beating Shelley down. A brutal gutwrench suplex and a running neck snap on the ropes set up Shelley for the baseball slide and the tope suicida sending him into the guardrail. Naturally Shelley had the brain buster well scouted, countering with an inverted DDT for a close two count. Some more close nearfalls, with Aries managing to use his ring savvy to avoid being pinned. Shelley hits the Sliced Bread #2 but Aries is in the ropes. Shelley goes for a brain buster of his own but Aries slips down the back and sunset backslide right on Shelley, to hold him down for the pin.
Austin Aries pinned Alex Shelley after a sunset backslide in 0:12:01.
Rating: *** ¾
Austin Aries gets the win, but both men are now 1-1 in one on one matches with each other and Shelley is up, with Aries just leaving the ring. No doubt a third match will be in the cards.
Backstage:
We see Sederick Skyhawk, Tomko, and Candace Sweet of Sederick Skyhawk Productions, discussing how this past Sunday was not a good time for them, with Tomko and Skyhawk having lost to AJ Styles and Christopher Daniels. Skyhawk says that he refuses to deal with any more surprises, he wants all the cards on the table from now on, there will be no mystery opponents. He’s a star, his days are structured, planned, he wants no other horrific surprises. On cue, Shawn Stasiak walks up and Skyhawk looks appalled, asking Candace what the hell is that thing. Candace replies that Stasiak is a side project…a very long term side project…that she’s working on and…their tag team partner for tonight. Skyhawk looks absolutely mortified, that this “non entity” would be their partner and he says that Candace’s efforts in promoting Skyhawk as his publicist better not suffer. She assures him that he is obviously utmost priority.
Stasiak tries to open his mouth but Skyhawk cuts him off, saying that he’s the NAWA Television Champion, which means he’s the biggest name in all of televised professional wrestling. He says that this Stasiak thing better not be a liability to his career, otherwise there might be trouble. Candace tells Skyhawk to relax, saying that she had a long discussion with Stasiak and what happened last Sunday will not repeat itself. Skyhawk says that Stasiak better be mindful, better respect his superiors, do not speak unless spoken do, do not look unless looked upon, do not even think about Skyhawk without his permission and do not ever breath any air from the same area that Sederick Skyhawk is standing in. Tomko just looks stoic and says, “yeah, that’s right” and Skyhawk asks if Stasiak understands it. Stasiak nods meekly looking at the floor and Candace says that it’s red carpet time.
We’ll see if Shawn Stasiak can coexist with his partners, as coming up next, Stasiak, Sederick Skyhawk, and Tomko take on Colt Cabana, AJ Styles, and Christopher Daniels.

AJ Styles, Christopher Daniels, and Colt Cabana vs. Shawn Stasiak, Tomko, and the NAWA Television Champion Sederick Skyhawk(w/Candace Sweet)
Daniels and Skyhawk is teased but Tomko tags right in and beats on Daniels, but Daniels fights back, before bringing in Colt Cabana. Cabana runs wild for about a minute, but Tomko takes him out, with Skyhawk and Tomko making quick tags, obviously doing the prudent thing of making sure Shawn Stasiak stays out of this match. Cabana fights out and manages to hit a jawbreaker on Tomko, before making the hot tag to AJ Styles. Styles blitzes everyone, house of fire, knocking Tomko and Styles around. Daniels enters the ring, to take Tomko out and Styles hits a springboard forearm smash to take Skyhawk down, but Stasiak tags himself in. Candace shrieks, “NO!” at ringside and Stasiak enters the ring, yelling he’s got this and running axe handle smash brings Styles down. Stasiak turns around, pumping his fist in the air and yelling, “WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT THAT!” and turns around and promptly gets hit with the Pele Kick by Styles to get pinned.

The trio of AJ Styles, Christopher Daniels, and Colt Cabana gets the win, and Candace yells at Stasiak some more and now Skyhawk is yelling at Stasiak as well and Tomko looks stoic in the background but on the orders of Candace, he roughly grabs Stasiak by the ear and pulls him to the back, causing Stasiak to yell out in pain, as Candace and Skyhawk continue to yell at Stasiak for costing them the match.
Backstage:
Larry Sweeney is yelling at one of his aides just to cut the woman a check, that will likely shut her up about her two brats being too stupid enough to move out of the way. Larry Sweeney turns, saying that he’s glad that the cameraman is still snooping around here, because that Abyss-Teddy Hart match…it’s still happening tonight, and he doesn’t care if every fan in the building drops dead to do it. It will be Falls Count Anywhere in the Building, a fight to the finish. The NAWA World Title is still going to be on the line.
The NAWA World Tag Team Champions the Rottweilers and Ron Killings join forces to take on the Briscoe Brothers and Bryan Danielson. Six rough and tumble competitors, a brutal six man tag team match, coming up right after this time out on Glory.
[COMMERCIAL]
The Briscoe Brothers and Bryan Danielson vs. The Rottweilers and Ron Killings
The Briscoe Brothers and The Rottweilers exchange some stiff strikes throughout this match, with Jay and Mark given about as good as Low Ki and Homicide did in fact gave. Both teams battered each other, knocking each other around, until Mark got cut off, being beaten by all three of his enemies. He would not go down, even with Low Ki nearly kicking his face on several times. Homicide goes for the Gringo Killer but Mark slides out and a huge German Suplex release bringing Homicide down on his head. Tag made to Killings and Danielson is in the ring, winning a chop battle with Killings. Killings is backed off right into the corner and running elbow smash into the corner, sets up an airplane spin, into a Samoan Drop but the pin is broken up by Low-Ki’s double foot stomp to the back. In come the Briscoe Brothers, taking the Rottweilers to the floor. Killings goes for a scissors kick on Danielson but Danielson avoids it and hooks on the guillotine choke, before scissoring the body with his legs. Killings has been rendered unconscious so the referee calls for the bell, giving Danielson the win.
The Briscoe Brothers (Jay Briscoe and Mark Briscoe) and Bryan Danielson
defeated Low Ki, Ron Killings and Homicide when Danielson defeated Killings
when Killings passed out in a guillotine choke in 0:12:57.
Rating: ** ¼
Two matches back and two wins for Bryan Danielson, as the Briscoe Brothers slap his back and celebrate with him for the victory.
We cut to a special update after the Samoa Joe/Harry Harris match. Both men brutalized each other and were hospitalized for several days, before being released on Wednesday this week. Harry Harris’s previous problems with his neck and knees have flared up after the match, but he will not miss any time and will return next week. Samoa Joe suffered a concussion and a busted orbital socket that will put on the shelf for the better part of a month when Harris nailed him with that pipe wrench, and some other minor injuries as well.
Miles Stylish is at the arena, and he will address the NAWA fans coming up next on Glory.
[COMMERCIAL]
“Sharp Dressed Man” by ZZ Top plays and the moment Miles Stylish enters the arena, he’s greeted to loud chants of “YOU TAPPED OUT!” by the NAWA fans. Stylish makes his way down to the ringside area, sliding into the ring, grabbing a microphone and he taps at his watch, as the fans continue to chant “YOU TAPPED OUT!” loudly, but it quickly dies down and Stylish says, that now that they’ve gotten that out of their system, they can listen to him. He did lose to Kurt Angle, there’s no denying that but Stylish made a mistake. He should have figured that Kurt Angle had dumbed himself down to be at the level of the fans of that one company in New York, and obviously might have been at a higher level. Then again, everyone needs to step up to a higher level to compete against Miles Stylish.
Stylish says the next time he steps into the ring with Kurt Angle, things will be different. He treated him like a competitor of a lesser breed, a sports entertainer, but next time he’ll treat him like the man who won a gold medal with a broken neck and things will be different. Stylish says that there is one night that he’s looking forward to, the night of January 21st 2007, where he is in the Luck of the Draw Match, where the winner gets an NAWA World Title Shot, on March 26th 2007, at Reality Check. Whether he enters at number one or number thirty, he will be the winner and the next NAWA World Champion.
He also says that he has not forgotten about his match on January 3rd 2007, on the 5th Anniversary of NAWA Glory, where he’ll take on Harry Harris and much like pretty much every other time, Stylish is going to walk out with the win. In 2007, he promises to become the NAWA World Champion once again. Miles Stylish leaves, as the “YOU TAPPED OUT” chants start up again. Miles Stylish has huge goals as always and he’ll be a part of that thirty man Luck of the Draw Match where the winner gets an NAWA World Title Shot, a belt that Stylish has held twice before.
Next, we’re going to try this one again, by order of Larry Sweeney, Falls Count Anywhere Match for the NAWA World Title, Teddy Hart defends against Abyss. Don’t you dare touch that dial on NAWA Glory.
[COMMERCIAL]
It is time for the NAWA World Title match, but before that can happen, a man in a suit walks out, with Richard Ramos Ricardo, NAWA Commissioner, talking in hushed tones. The man in the suit talks to the referee before Ricardo asks for the microphone. Ricardo says that for the past hour, the NAWA Board of Directors were in an emergency meeting, to consider potential options regarding Abyss taking out two fans earlier tonight. The best course of action it seems would be for the time being for the next thirty days to file a temporary restraining order on Abyss competing in any matches in front of NAWA fans. Larry Sweeney storms out, yelling that they cannot do that, but the suit gives Sweeney official looking papers, saying that he can. For the next thirty days, Abyss is suspended from competing in front of any fans in any arena in the country.
Sweeney pauses, before doing some quick thinking. He asks for clarification, saying Abyss is only banned from competing in arenas that have fans watching for the next thirty days. The suit says that’s true and Larry Sweeney announces that he has to make some calls, but there will still be an NAWA World Title Match between Abyss and Teddy Hart, on January 3rd 2007 on the 5th Anniversary Show…AN EMPTY ARENA MATCH!
Sweeney says that he will pay out of his own pocket, to rent an arena, just for the purpose of having this NAWA World Title Match. The announcers talk about how an Empty Arena Match is likely to favor Abyss, as Teddy Hart’s ability to feed off of the fans energy in the arena has inspired him to impressive wins, while Abyss is just a force of nature, uncaring about the opinions of the fans. Abyss vs. Teddy Hart for the NAWA World Championship on January 3rd 2007 in the first ever Empty Arena Match in NAWA history, in the special three hour Five Years of NAWA Glory Special. We’re going to get right to this next match, a special standby match right now on Glory, but still to come, the NAWA Women’s Title is on the line with Mia Stylish defending against Awesome Kong.
Chris Sabin vs. Nigel McGuinness
Sabin looks a bit battered from his Cruiserweight Title Match from Homicide this past Sunday Night at StarClash 06, but he takes the battle to McGuinness but a cross body block is avoided and Nigel McGuinness beats on Sabin, hitting a huge fisherman suplex and batters him with a series of forearm smashes right into the corner. Boot to the face, but the Tower of London is blocked and Sabin hits a springboard clothesline for a two count. Springboard Oklahoma side roll and leaping enzuigiri is not enough to put McGuinness away and neither is a tornado DDT. A second tornado DDT is blocked and McGuinness backs off, before snapping Sabin down with a jawbreaker lariat for the pin.
Nigel McGuinness pinned Chris Sabin with the Jawbreaker Lariat in 0:10:48.
Rating: *** ¼
Nigel McGuinness gets the win, raising his hand, with a heelish sneer on his face.
Mia Stylish won the NAWA Women’s Title this past Sunday but only because Teddy Hart pinned Awesome Kong. Tonight she steps into the ring with Awesome Kong in our main event for the NAWA Women’s Championship, to prove that she can hang with the dominant NAWA Women’s competitor one on one.
[COMMERCIAL]
Next week, we have two huge matches on tap, with the NAWA World Champion Teddy Hart taking on the NAWA International Champion Jerry Lynn in a champion vs. champion match, no belts on the line, but perhaps some huge bragging rights. AJ Styles will receive an NAWA Television Title shot at Sederick Skyhawk and more.
January 3rd 2007, five years of NAWA Glory at 7:30 PM Eastern Time. We’ll see the Empty Arena Match for the NAWA World Title between Teddy Hart and Abyss, Miles Stylish taking on Harry Harris, the return match for the NAWA International Title between Jerry Lynn and the Gambler, and also a ten man NAWA alumni battle royal where ten former NAWA superstars compete for one last shot at redemption and a spot in the Luck of the Draw match. Three hours, so don’t forget to tune in for our fifth year anniversary celebration.
NAWA Women’s Title Match
Awesome Kong vs. Mia Stylish©
Mia Stylish as the younger sister of Miles Stylish as every bit of her brother’s technical ability but thankfully none of his pompous attitude, but she’s against a dominant force of Kong. A bit of cat and mouse, with Stylish managing to take Kong down, but Kong is not playing ball for a suplex, so she beats on the back and a vicious lariat brings Stylish down. Kong beats on Stylish, before destroying her. A huge sidewalk slam sets up multiple elbow drops and a pump splash from Kong but Stylish fights out from underneath. A running avalanche into the corner by Kong is avoided and Stylish rolls up Kong for a close nearfall. A series of rabid fire kicks and attempted spinning headscissors is countered into an inverted power bomb. Kong looks determined, going for a choke slam but Stylish fights out of that. Huracarana brings down Kong for a two count. Stylish beats on Kong in the corner and running kneelift right in the corner. Kong catches Stylish coming in with an elbow strike and bearhug applied.
Kong works over the back of Stylish with a bearhug, some strikes, a backbreaker, before applying a torture rack. The referee checks the arm, but Stylish flips onto her feet and DDT to Kong. Both women are down and the standing ten count is putting on. Stylish is back to her feet, punching away and chopping away on Kong. Two leaping clotheslines wobble Kong but a third one brings her down. To the outside and springboard inverted bulldog but Kong will not stay down. Dragon sleeper applied by Mia Stylish, but Kong powers out. Stylish hits a Yakuza Kick to Kong and follows that up with a Shining Wizard but Kong will not stay down for more than two. Rollthrough Half Boston Crab is powered out by Kong and Kong hits a spinning back fist. Stylish is staggered and Kong lariats her down. A huge choke slam and Awesome Bomb is fought, into a sunset flip for a two count. Stylish bounces up to her feet, running right into a huge thunderous lariat. Second Awesome Bomb connects but Mia Stylish manages to somehow roll the shoulder up. Kong is none too pleased and she essentially beats her opponent unconscious with a series of mounted forearm strikes, before hitting another Awesome Bomb for the pin to regain the title.
Awesome Kong pinned Mia Stylish with the Awesome Bomb in 0:15:37.
Rating: *** 1/4
(Awesome Kong won the NAWA Women's Title.)
Take your hat off to Mia Stylish, she threw everything she could at Kong and Kong had to beat her half to death to win, but for the second time, Awesome Kong is the NAWA Women’s Champion. Kong gives her opponent a few more stomps, before draping the belt over her shoulder. There will be another match down the line and perhaps Mia Stylish can crack the code of Kong before too long but only time will tell.
Backstage:
We see several referees, lead by Earl Hebner, in Larry Sweeney’s office. Hebner says that the referees have talked and it might be for the best that they don’t referee Abyss’s matches during the duration of his suspension. Sweeney is not happy, yelling that someone has to referee, but Hebner says that none of the referees will do it for fear that Abyss will take his aggression out on them. He got in touch with the NAWA Board of Directors and got the okay and if Sweeney can’t find someone willing to referee that match, then it’s off. Sweeney sits down, looking upset, wondering who could be insane enough to referee an Empty Arena Match involving Abyss and Teddy Hart. He mentions that even he doesn’t really want to get in the middle of that one. We fade out, as Larry Sweeney ponders his dilemma.
