NAWA Glory Xtra: Five Years of NAWA Glory 1/3/07
A highlight video of the first ever NAWA Show on January 3rd 2002, featuring Jeff Jarrett becoming the first ever NAWA World Champion winning the first ever Luck of the Draw. We have come a long way in the last five years and tonight, we celebrate some of the highlights of the past five years of NAWA Glory along with nine amazing matches in this three hour broadcast.
Tonight, the NAWA World Title will be on the line when Abyss and the defending champion Teddy Hart step into an empty arena to do battle for the NAWA World Title in the first ever empty arena match in NAWA History. Two long time rivals collide when Harry Harris squares off against Miles Stylish. That is our double main event, but also two other title matches, with the NAWA International Champion Jerry Lynn defending against the Gambler and the NAWA Cruiserweight Champion Homicide defending against Bryan Danielson. Plus Best Two Out of Three Falls between Alex Shelley and Austin Aries to settle the recent issue, AJ Styles takes on Christopher Daniels for the number one contendership for the NAWA Television Title, A Ten Man Alumni Battle Royal featuring stars of the past in action, and so much more. Let’s head into the ring for a three way tag team match, the first match on the fifth anniversary show.
Team 3D vs. the Briscoe Brothers vs. Matt Bentley and Ron Killings
The NAWA Tag Team Champions the Rottweilers, Homicide and Low Ki watch match closely from the ramp, as due the Motor City Machine Guns of Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin from in the stands. Tag team competition is getting hot and heavy in the NAWA and all three of these teams are looking to make a mark. Lots of chaos, with Team 3D using their power and tag team experience to really gain a foothold in this match but the Briscoe Brothers use their roughneck, streetfighting tactics to really batter them. In the end, it all breaks down, with Bentley eating the 3D from Team 3D, but Ron Killings nails Devon with the K Driller to send him down to the canvas. Ray gets take down but the Briscoe Brothers have Killings set up and huge Doomsday Device manages to put Killings down for the three and allow the Briscoe Brothers to score a vital win in the tag team division in the NAWA to kick off 2007.
Triangle Match:
The Briscoe Brothers (Jay Briscoe and Mark Briscoe) defeated
Matt Bentley and Ron Killings and Team 3D (Brother Ray and Brother Devon) when
J. Briscoe pinned Killings with the Doomsday Device in 0:07:21.
Rating: ** ½
The Briscoe Brothers get the win, looking at both the Guns and the tag team champions. 2007 may be a banner year for the Briscoe Brothers but only time will tell. They get things off to the right foot with a win tonight.
A NAWA Retro Moment is Shown featuring Harry Harris winning the NAWA World Title for the first time at WrestleClash II defeating Raven in a brutal Walk Through Hell Match.

Nigel McGuinness is out from the back, talking about how he made his debut in this company in the latter part of 2006 but 2007 will be his year. He says that he is going to be in the Luck of the Draw Match, he is going to win that match and then he’s going to win the NAWA World Title, he doesn’t care whether or not it’s Teddy Hart, Kurt Angle, or “That Reject from the Barnum and Bailey Circus” Abyss, he is going to get the NAWA World Title and whoever he’s in the ring with, he’s going to end them. Some strong ambitions from Nigel McGuinness, as tonight he has an open challenge and it looks to be answered by one half of the NAWA World Tag Team Champions, Low Ki.
NAWA World Tag Team Champion Low Ki vs. Nigel McGuinness
Both men really exchange some stiff shots and suplexes right throughout this match, with McGuiness being slammed right into the corner hard after Low Ki lands on his feet with an attempted belly to back suplex and begins rather kicking away at the back of the leg. Low Ki begins tagging the side of his leg as well with many violent kicks and then hits a huge brain buster, before going to the outside. Springboard knee drop misses when McGuiness rolls out of the way and McGuinness beats on Low Ki with a series of huge forearm smashes. Low Ki gets a boot right to the face and Yakuza Kick nearly takes the head of McGuinness off for a two count. Flying double foot stomp gets another nearfall and Low Ki begins violently stomping McGuinness and then a series of huge kicks to the ribs and one right to the face. McGuinness counters a charge with the Hot Shot and beats on Low Ki with a series of forearm smashes, yelling “STOP KICKING ME SO BLOODY HARD, YOU WANKER!” as he keeps tagging Low Ki. Power bomb is countered and Low Ki just kicks McGuinness right in the face rather hard right again, nearly busting his nose. He taunts McGuinness, yelling that was hard. Dragon Clutch is fought out of and McGuinness mows down Low Ki with a lariat, before hitting the Jawbreaker Lariat, bouncing off the ropes for the pin.
Nigel McGuinness pinned Low Ki with the Jawbreaker Lariat in 0:09:25.
Rating: *** ½
Nigel McGuinness most certainly has momentum on his side, winning every single match with the exception of one and that was against Harry Harris and really is there any shame in losing to a former two time NAWA World Champion? No doubt McGuinness has the tools to succeed and is hopefully able to translate his momentum to a win in the Luck of the Draw Match
Backstage:
We see former NAWA World Champion Shane Douglas making his return backstage, talking about how while his former tag team partner is spending his time carrying Vince McMahon’s bags and making his coffee, he’s back in the New Age Wrestling Alliance whether “these marks” like it or not. He’s put on a few pounds in the past few years since we’ve last saw him but Douglas vows to win tonight, earn a spot in the Luck of the Draw Match, and regain the NAWA World Title. A cry of “just hold on one minute, slapnuts” is heard and Jeff Jarrett pops up, saying that five years ago, he won the NAWA World Title in the first ever Luck of the Draw Match and history is going to repeat itself five years to the day when he wins another battle royal and it might end with him tossing Shane Douglas out in that Alumni “Second Chance at NAWA Glory” Battle Royal for a spot in the Luck of the Draw Match.
Douglas and Jeff Jarrett are nose to nose, but Sean Waltman pops up, saying that tonight he is going to win the Battle Royal and get that spot in the Luck of the Draw Match and if you can’t beat it, then suck it! In comes Lenny Lane, looking fabulous this evening, saying that he enjoyed Waltman’s performance in One Night in Chyna, saying he has spent many great nights pleasuring himself to it, which causes Shane Douglas and Jeff Jarrett to both recoil in horror and Waltman to storm off, pissed. Pierre Marquette pops up, saying that these stupid Americans have no right to even spit on his boots and Alex Wright then pops up, agreeing with Marquette, but saying the French are even more stupid than the stupid Americans. Pierre Marquette lets out a loud cry of “Socre Blu” and curses at Alex Wright.
Suddenly, the Dark Warrior pops right into the screen, cutting a promo, talking about how all the ships are aligned, all of the base elements of destrucity will descend upon the planes to bring him back into the conquest of the New Age Wrestling Alliance and how all shall tremble right before the tears of utter despair of the might of a thousand intergalactic spirits. Hence forth, we shall not fall beneath the clouds of annihilation, but rise above the smog of the sensational constellations of yesteryear. Everyone continues to watch the Warrior ramble, like a car crash that one cannot look away from, talking about how the base elements have condensed upon the shadows of despair and the higher forms will take flight to bring us to a next level. Let’s head right to another classic NAWA clip, right now.
Classic NAWA Clip, Ron Waterman wins the Luck of the Draw Match in 2004, to become the NAWA World Champion, outlasting Miles Stylish and Raven at the end.
[COMMERCIAL]
The Warrior continues to ramble backstage, talking about how the inner forces will cause a shockwave which shall topple the pillars of civilized enhancement, for those shall not pass upon the nights of the rather entrapment for the constant eradication of the words that we shall not be able to endure. He does have a rather compelling argument, does he not? Unfortunately, we do have a time table to keep, so the Warrior is ushered out, still cutting his promo about the inter sphere that threatens to constrain the cosmic underscore of the livestock of the end of spiral eradication. It is about time to continue the first ever Second Chance at NAWA Glory Battle Royal. They get one more chance, a spot in the Luck of the Draw Match on January 21st 2007, where the winner gets an NAWA World Title Shot.
Second Chance at NAWA Glory Alumi Battle Royal Featuring: Alex Wright, Disco Inferno, Jeff Jarrett, Lenny Lane, Norman Smiley, Pierre Marquette, Sean Waltman, Shane Douglas, the Dark Warrior, and Van Hammer
The Dark Warrior is into the ring and he continues to cut his promo about how the fabric of the youth of the cosmos has twisted into a weave of utter annihilation which threatens to eat away at the tapestry of the lives of youth which can only be saved by the cosmic forth of Destrucity and suddenly, all nine of the other competitors grab the Dark Warrior and shove him out, while he is still cutting his promo. Then everyone turns to everyone else and begins to brawl. Well, Pierre Marquette gets bounced out in short order. Thanks for playing. Van Hammer gets dumped out by Sean Waltman and the Lenny Lane waistlocks Waltman but Waltman manages to fight out desperately with elbow strikes, as Disco Inferno dances right around the side of the ring. Alex Wright gets launched out by Norman Smiley with a catapult, both men have had a storied past right in the New Age Wrestling Alliance and Disco Inferno is on the outside of the ring as well. Waltman launches Lenny Lane out with a high back body drop.
Well we got the final four here between Sean Waltman, Jeff Jarrett, Shane Douglas, and Norman Smiley. Jarrett and Douglas form an alliance, and take out Waltman to dash his second chance at NAWA Glory. Then a mistimed spot, allows Norman Smiley to dump Jeff Jarrett and then its down to Norman Smiley and Shane Douglas. Douglas and Smiley exchange chops and punches, with Norman hitting a spinning slam and then Big Wiggle pops the crowd! Norman Smiley charges Douglas but gets dumped but lands on the apron. Norman Smiley grabs Douglas and attempts to suplex him off, but Disco Inferno suddenly reenters the ring and dumps both men?
As it turns out, Disco Inferno never went over the top rope, having rolled underneath the bottom rope, so he’s your winner and has a spot in the Luck of the Draw Match.
10-Man Battle Royal:
Disco Inferno won a 10-man Battle Royal:
x Everyone threw out the Dark Warrior in 0:00:05
x Van Hammer threw out Pierre Marquette in 0:00:28
x Sean Waltman threw out Van Hammer in 0:01:02

Rating: *
Disco Inferno gets the slot in the Luck of the Draw Match. Will he win? Well the odds might not seem likely, but stranger things have in fact happened in wrestling. So we’re just going to have to wait and see.
Backstage:
We see a press conference for the NAWA Television Champion Sederick Skyhawk. Skyhawk talks about how 2006 was an up and down year, but he regained his belt, the NAWA Television Title and 2007 will be the year where Sederick Skyhawk’s star burns brighter. He says that he will win the Luck of the Draw Match and then the NAWA World Title will be his. Skyhawk says that he deserves nothing but the best because he is the very best, the greatest star in NAWA history and at Luck of the Draw, he’ll show why he is the most much watch wrestler in the history, by winning the Luck of the Draw Match. He addresses that tonight, Christopher Daniels and AJ Styles will be taking each other for an NAWA Television Title Shot which will occur in the same night, but Skyhawk knows that they will tear each other apart, friendship be damned, over a chance to become Television Champion and he’ll pick up the scraps. The Luck of the Draw Match seems to be a match where many huge competitors will attempt to spring to the top but there can only be one winner.
A Moment in NAWA History, Raven closes his blood feud with Christopher Daniels, after Daniels is impaled on a bed of nails and Raven hits the Evenflow DDT to win the Walk Through Hell Match at WrestleClash III.

The Gambler says that he’s going to start the next year of NAWA Glory out right, he’s going to go out there, he’s going to roll the dice, he’s going to play his cards right, and he’s going to regain the NAWA International Title. And he announces that he’s going to be a part of the Luck of the Draw Match and he promises to win the Luck of the Draw Match and he’ll finally achieve the ultimate honor in wrestling by becoming the NAWA World Championship. The Gambler thanks the fans for getting behind him and 2007 will be his year. The Gambler is fired up but he most certainly has a steep challenge tonight against a man he’s never been able to defeat, Jerry Lynn.
A moment in NAWA History, Harry Harris goes to the top of the cage against Miles Stylish at Truth or Consequences 2004 and misses a huge frog splash, allowing Miles Stylish to narrowly pick up the win. That was just one of their matches and tonight they write another chapter.

Rating: ***
(Homicide retained the NAWA Cruiserweight Title.)
Homicide continues to beat down Bryan Danielson and gives him a Gringo Killa. Homicide spits on Danielson. Danielson outwrestled Homicide and Homicide saved his title. No doubt this is far from over.
After Danielson is helped to the back, Dan Marion is out, to call out Mia Stylish. Stylish makes her way out, to cheers from the fans. Marion talks about how last week, Stylish took the fight to Awesome Kong and did not back down. Grabbing the microphone, Stylish says she doesn’t fear Kong but she’s still dangerous. Regardless, Stylish won’t back down without a fight and she talks about how she has a return match clause and what better time than Luck of the Draw. Out comes the NAWA Owner Larry Sweeney, who says that Stylish is rather lucky that Kong isn’t here tonight, she has the night off, otherwise she’ll show Stylish the true meaning of fear and why most women(and many men) break into tears when Kong enters the locker room. Sweeney agrees to give Stylish her title shot at Luck of the Draw, providing she survives until Luck of the Draw. He laughs evilly, telling Mia Stylish to watch her back. Mia Stylish says she won’t back down from either Kong or Larry Sweeney.
A moment in NAWA history, Samoa Joe makes his debut at Blinded By Fury 2005, defeating Austin Aries, starting an undefeated streak that lasted for twenty two months.

Stasiak slides right underneath the ring, as the referee’s vision is obstructed and Stasiak manages to clothesline Styles down. After both men have been going full tilt for about ten minutes, with Stasiak nailing a huge powerslam on Daniels and one to Styles. The referee pulls the robe off and calls for the bell, calling this one a no contest. Technically speaking, Stasiak attacked Styles first, but since the referee couldn’t see it, this one is a no contest.
AJ Styles and Christopher Daniels battled to a no-contest in 0:10:08.
Rating: ***
The match is thrown out and Shawn Stasiak poses, looking rather pleased. Stasiak leaves, as Richard Ramos Ricardo, NAWA Commissioner is out. He is having words with the ring announcer, who announces as per the interference of Shawn Stasiak, in the interest of past precedent in the New Age Wrestling Alliance, both Christopher Daniels and AJ Styles will both be receiving the NAWA Television Title Shot, in a Triple Threat Match against Sederick Skyhawk! The fans pop huge for this one and something tells me that Candace Sweet and Sederick Skyhawk will not be happy next time when they see Shawn Stasiak.
A moment in NAWA History, Harry Harris returns from a neck injury at Luck of the Draw 2006, last eliminating Raven to become the number one contender for the NAWA World Title.
Coming up next, the NAWA International Title is on the line, when Jerry Lynn puts the belt on the line against the man he beat for it, the Gambler. More five years of NAWA Glory right after this time out.

Jerry Lynn made The Gambler when the Gambler passed out in a figure four leglock in 0:14:54.
Rating: ***1/4
(Jerry Lynn retained the NAWA International Title.)
Lynn gets the win, saying a few words, announcing that he’s going to win the Luck of the Draw Match. There seems to be a lot of that going on tonight. Thirty men enter the ring on January 21st, only one man leaves with the NAWA World Title Shot at Reality Check.
A moment in history, at WrestleClash V, Teddy Hart after many tries over the years becomes the NAWA World Champion defeating Raven. Yet as we celebrate the beginning of Teddy Hart’s title reign, could we really be seeing the end? Still to come, he steps into the Empty Arena to defend the NAWA World Title against Abyss.
Up next, Harry Harris vs. Miles Stylish, one on one, five years of NAWA Glory, two homegrown stars and one of the most storied feuds in NAWA history writes its next chapter next. It’s the main event for the fans in the arena tonight, with the Empty Arena Match still to come.

Stylish drills a shoulder right to the midsection and sunset flip to the outside, but Harris kneels down, grabbing the middle rope for leverage. The referee doesn’t see it and Harris scores the pin!
Harry Harris pinned Miles Stylish after a double leg-hook in 0:18:20.
Rating: **** ¼
Harry Harris raises his hand into the air with the victory and Miles Stylish is none too happy, yelling that Harris used the ropes for leverage, but the decision stands and Harry Harris has scored a win. Harris makes a check mark motion in the air and says that step three has been done.
We go via satellite outside of the Empty Arena, as NAWA World Champion Teddy Hart, Challenger Abyss, and Special Referee Kurt Angle are all inside the arena and the arena is being locked up tight. This match will be a fight to the finish, by pinfall or submission, it’s the only way to win. That match is coming up next.
[COMMERCIAL]
Empty Arena Match for the NAWA World Title with Special Guest Referee Kurt Angle:
Abyss vs. Teddy Hart©
Teddy Hart attacks Abyss right at the start of the match, beating him with a series of punches, before nailing him with a leg lariat sending him to the floor but Abyss drags Hart right to the floor, beating on him slowly and launching him right into the guardrail, with a sickening clatter being heard because there are no fans in the arena to mask the noise. Abyss continues to pummel on Hart but Hart gets a boot right to the face and removes some tape from his wrist, before choking him. A HUGE MOONSAULT RIGHT OFF OF THE BALCONY RIGHT ONTO A STANDING ABYSS! Abyss stumbles right over several rows of chairs.
Teddy Hart looks up, to soak in the cheers of the fans…before it dawns on him that there are none there to feed off of. Hart is taken out of his gain and Abyss throttles Hart, choking him before beating on him and huge fallaway slam, causing Hart to bounce right off of the bleachers at a sickening collision. Abyss steps back and running avalanche to Hart as he is leaned up against the steps and both men are brawling higher into the arena, with Abyss busting Hart’s face off of the steps, thus busting him wide open, with blood splattering on each step. Abyss loses his balances immediately, slipping on some of the blood and Hart removes a glass case from the wall, before he shatters it right over the head of Abyss! Glass flies everywhere and Hart beats on Abyss some more, before they are fighting into the concession stands area. Both men continue to brawl but Abyss boots Hart down and then grabs him. Huge Choke Slam right off of the concession stands counter, causing Hart to crash right through a nearby table! Abyss goes for the cover but only a two and a half count! Abyss throttles and beats on Hart but Hart fights down from underneath.
Both men exchange chops and punches, with Abyss and Hart fighting their way back to the other side of the arena. Abyss continues to advance, with the champion backing off, only to nail Abyss with a sickening inverted bulldog. Hart beats on Abyss, going right to the eyes, and he keeps fighting, trying to beat on Abyss and running clothesline sends Abyss right back into the arena! Abyss is right back into the arena and now Teddy Hart charges Abyss but Abyss kicks Hart right in the face, before he reaches right underneath the ring and throws a bag into the ring. Abyss has just been punctured right in the back and Hart steps through, before he applies the Sharpshooter! Hart has the Sharpshooter on Abyss but Abyss is powering out and breaks the hold. Hart bounces off of the ropes and Abyss gives Hart the Black Hole Slam. We could have it right here. One, Two, Thr…shoulder up!
Teddy Hart shows why he is the NAWA World Champion and Abyss violently tries to cave in Hart’s skull with a series of vicious clubbing blows to the head and face. Abyss grabs Hart by the face and applies a clawhold, attempting to smother him and swings him around like a rag doll, before violently tossing him right into the corner. Right onto the shoulders but Hart drops down and stepover heel kick right to the back of the head! Abyss is to his knees and Teddy Hart springboards off but Abyss grabs him and a huge choke slam! Hart spasms and Abyss rolls underneath the bottom rope, before he reaches underneath the ring. Abyss removes a baseball bat with nails sticking out of it, wrapped in barbed wire. That might be the murder weapon. All Kurt Angle can do is stand back and watch, and as Abyss looks ready to swing. He rushes Teddy Hart but Teddy Hart ducks and Hart dropkicks Abyss right in the back of the head, causing him to fall forward and land hard, impaling himself right on the nails and barbed wire of the baseball bat! Abyss is down, the bat ripped from his flesh as the champion is up top and Hart connects with the Hart Attack. Making the cover hooking the leg for the pin!

Second Chance at NAWA Glory Alumi Battle Royal Featuring: Alex Wright, Disco Inferno, Jeff Jarrett, Lenny Lane, Norman Smiley, Pierre Marquette, Sean Waltman, Shane Douglas, the Dark Warrior, and Van Hammer
