Notes
First, we have to start with some very sad news for the whole world of wrestling. In tonight’s WWF World Tag Team match, The Dynamite Kid suffered a serious back injury, which not only cost the Bulldogs the match and titles, but has unfortunately cost the Kid his career as he will no longer be able to wrestle such is the seriousness of the injury he sustained tonight. The whole of the WWF is in a state of shock and bewilderment at how quickly a glittering career can come to an end so suddenly. The future of Davey Boy Smith remains unclear at this time. To their credit, Arn Anderson and Tully Blanchard’s celebrations were muted. In the brutal War Games main event, it was the team of Jake Roberts, Roddy Piper, The Barbarian and The Warlord who were successful as they forced the submission from Brutus Beefcake after more than 37 minutes of action. Although at the end, with plenty of blood spilt on both sides, it was hard to see who the winners really were. “Ravishing” Rick Rude managed to hold onto the WWF World Heavyweight Title – just. Texas Tornado and Honky Tonk Man were not so lucky however as they both lost their recently won titles against former titleholders Mr Perfect and Rick Martel respectively. Both men will be looking for rematches in the near future, although with rumours of dissention, Honky Tonk Man may have some issues with his own tag team partner Greg Valentine. Bad News Brown may also now be in the title mix too.

Tough loss - in more ways than one - for the Bulldogs, tonight. I'll be interested to see what you do with Davey Boy from here on out after this.
Very strong War Games match. It's cool to see this being done with WWF/E people instead of WCW.
And, I'm still getting used to Rick Rude as Heavyweight Champion. Nice change though.

Sucks about Dynamite, but really, that's the career path he took in real life.
Rick Rude as World champion is fun. I think had he stayed healthy, he would have a good title reign in real life too.

Was this when Dynamite suffered his real life injury? My memory is a little hazy. I to though would be interested to see what happens to Davey Boy now. I always thought he could've gotten more of a singles push that even what he got.

Thanks for the comments, much appreciated.
I always liked Rude hence the face turn and World title. Plus, we get (potential) matches we never got in real life like Rude v Savage, Rude v DiBiase and Rude v Perfect which should be better quality matches than Hogan v Earthquake for example!
I wanted to include War Games and the storylines kind of dictated the competitors, but I really wasn't sure about the likes of Duggan and The Powers of Pain in such a gruelling match but it turned out alright.
I know what you mean about Dynamite but I wanted a British Bulldog in the singles ranks more than I wanted The British Bulldogs in the tag team ranks, if you know what I mean?
Finally, I know there is more detail required but I haven't had much time to do this so far, but I am hoping to improve that over the Xmas break....
Thanks again

BREAKING NEWS!!!!
WWF President Vince McMahon called a press conference to announce the Double Main Event for Summerslam 1990.
2 WWF icons - Hulk Hogan and Roddy Piper - will face off in a Cage Match with the added stipulation that the loser must retire from wrestling!!!!
The other half of the Double Main Event will see WWF World Heavyweight Champion "Ravishing" Rick Rude once again face "Macho King" Randy Savage, also within the confines of a steel cage. Rumour has it if Savage is unsuccessful on this occasion, it may be a while before he gets another title shot.
McMahon also announced The Ultimate Warrior will challenge Million Dollar Man Ted DiBiase for the WWF United States Title and Texas Tornado will also get another chance at the WWF InterContinental Title against Mr Perfect.
Finally, the next Saturday Nights Main Event will feature a 10 team Battle Royal to determine who will face the new WWF World Tag Team champions the BrainBusters at Summerslam. When it was pointed out to McMahon that the WWF roster only had 9 recognised tag teams (not including the champions) McMahon smiled but refused to comment.......

Hogan vs. Piper in a retirement match... in a cage!? Why didn't this happen in real life, ever!?
Savage vs. (c) Rude in a cage should be nice too.
Already looking forward to it!

I'm looking for Savage/Rude to pull out **** at least. Should be a great match. Interesting twist with Piper/Hogan meeting with retirement stips. Can't see Hogan retiring in 1990 so looks like Piper is getting a break.

Saturday Nights Main Event – August 1990
Earthquake beat “Superfly” Jimmy Snuka (6:47)
Dino Bravo beat “American Dream” Dusty Rhodes (8:37)
The Mountie beat Koko B.Ware (7:31)
Ultimate Warrior beat Big Boss Man (17:36)
British Bulldog Davey Boy Smith beat The Brooklyn Brawler (5:21)
Bad News Brown beat Tito Santana (12:25)
Jake “Snake” Roberts beat Brutus “Barber” Beefcake (11:37)
Tag Team Battle Royal
The Road Warriors won a 10 team Battle Royal (25:58)
Notes
The Road Warriors have arrived in the WWF!!! In a shocking turn of events Hawk and Animal dominated the No.1 contenders Battle Royal to win and earn the right to face the BrainBusters at Summerslam. Bobby Heenan, who was watching at ringside, was a worried looking man as the Road Warriors celebrated in the ring, to the delight of the fans!!
Another fallout from the Battle Royal was the disintegration of Jimmy Hart’s tag team, Rhythm ‘n’ Blues. Both Honky Tonk Man and Jimmy Hart blamed Greg “Hammer” Valentine for their elimination and turned on Valentine even getting Earthquake to help decimate Valentine at the side of the ring, even as the Battle Royal continued.
Jacques Rougeau, now known as The Mountie made his WWF singles debut tonight, looking very impressive as he defeated the “Birdman” Koko B.Ware. Also making his singles debut was Davey Boy Smith. The “British Bulldog” looked comfortable on his own, as he took down The Brooklyn Brawler in just over 5 minutes. I suspect both of these men will be in the title hunt before too long.
The Million Dollar Man Ted DiBiase tried to payoff the wrong man tonight! After tasting defeat against the Ultimate Warrior, the Big Boss Man laid out some punishment to his opponent using his nightstick to particularly good effect, leaving the Warrior laying in the ring. Things turned sour though as Boss Man saw DiBiase giving Slick a large amount of money for his “services”. Boss Man was furious and turned on both Slick and the Million Dollar Man, chasing them off as the fans went wild!
Finally, the slump continued for the “American Dream” Dusty Rhodes as he tasted defeat once again tonight, this time at the hands of Dino Bravo.
The full card for SummerSlam has now been set:
WWF World Heavyweight Title Cage Match
“Ravishing” Rick Rude v “Macho King” Randy Savage
Loser Must Retire Cage Match
Hulk Hogan v “Rowdy Roddy Piper
WWF United States Title Match
“Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase v The Ultimate Warrior
WWF InterContinental Title Match
Mr Perfect v Texas Tornado Kerry Von Erich
WWF World Tag Team Titles Match
BrainBusters v The Road Warriors
WWF Television Title Match
Rick Martel v Bad News Brown
Other Matches
Sgt Slaughter & “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan v The Bolsheviks Greg “Hammer” Valentine v Dino Bravo British Bulldog Davey Boy Smith v Haku

Bad News Brown beat Rick Martel (13:39)

WWF InterContinental Title Match
Mr Perfect beat Texas Tornado Kerry Von Erich (14:46)
Sgt Slaughter & “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan beat The Bolsheviks (11:55)
WWF World Tag Team Titles Match

WWF United States Title Match
The Ultimate Warrior beat “Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase (18:58)

Loser Leaves WWF Cage Match
Hulk Hogan beat “Rowdy” Roddy Piper (19:35)
WWF World Heavyweight Title Cage Match
“Ravishing” Rick Rude beat “Macho King” Randy Savage (25:53)
Notes
In a gruelling double main event, “Ravishing” Rick Rude managed to hold onto the WWF World Heavyweight Title, when he was able to outlast “Macho King” Randy Savage and escape the cage to retain the title. Both men had numerous chances to win the match but it was eventually Rude who managed to hit his “Rude Awakening” finisher, giving him plenty of time to escape the cage.
In the previous match, two WWF icons ended a feud that had been going on for more than 5 years! Hulk Hogan was victorious against “Rowdy” Roddy Piper (although neither man particularly looked like a victor at the end of the match, as they were both covered in blood). Therefore, “Rowdy” Roddy Piper’s time in the WWF is over. His cohorts, Jake Roberts and The Powers of Pain tried to interfere but it was to no avail as the Hulkster managed to escape the cage. To the surprise of many at the end of the match Hulk returned to the ring and offered his hand to Piper. In an even bigger surprise Piper actually shook hands in a final show of class before he left the ring – and the WWF.
There were two other title changes as The Ultimate Warrior regained the United States Title from the “Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase, thanks to some timely intervention from the Big Boss Man. Also, Bad News Brown won his first WWF title as he beat Rick Martel to win the WWF Television Title.
The WWF World Tag Team titles are still with the BrainBusters – just. Their match against The Road Warriors went to a time limit draw. No doubt Hawk & Animal will be after another shot at the titles very soon.
Mr Perfect will be looking for new challengers as he once again saw off the Texas Tornado Kerry Von Erich in the InterContinental Title match.
There were good wins for the British Bulldog Davey Boy Smith, Greg “Hammer” Valentine and the team of Sgt Slaughter & “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan.

In a press conference conducted by WWF President Vince McMahon (and also attended by managers Bobby Heenan, Jimmy Hart, Slick and Mr Fuji), the following announcements were made:
The Powers of Pain have disbanded with The Barbarian now under the management of Bobby Heenan while The Warlord is now managed by Slick. Secondly, three new superstars will be joining the WWF in the next 3 months, one of which will definitely be managed by Mr Fuji.
Finally, Jimmy Hart will be bringing a new tag team to the WWF in the next couple of months.
All 4 managers had big smiles on their faces as each announcement was made, in preparation for September's Saturday Nights Main Event.

Saturday Nights Main Event – September 1990
The Bushwhackers beat The Bolsheviks (2:21)
“Dr Death” Steve Williams beat Koko B.Ware (6:00)
The Mountie beat Texas Tornado Kerry Von Erich (17:42)
Earthquake beat “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan (15:02)
The Barbarian beat Tito Santana (5:56)
WWF Television Title Match
Bad News Brown beat Rick Martel (9:27)
Dusty Rhodes beat Dino Bravo (18:24)
Mr Perfect & BrainBusters beat “Ravishing” Rick Rude & The Road Warriors (16:43)
Notes
WWF InterContinental Champion Mr Perfect has firmly set his sights on a bigger goal tonight as he gained a clean pinfall victory over current WWF champion “Ravishing” Rick Rude in the tonight’s main event. As he celebrated Perfect waved an imaginary belt around his waist as he looked straight at Rude.
Mr Fuji’s mystery wrestler turned out to be “Dr Death” Steve Williams! A tough, no nonsense brawler with deep reserves of both strength and courage, Williams will be a fine addition to the WWF roster as well as tough opponent for anyone he faces in the squared circle! He looked very impressive in his brief debut against the “Birdman”. So impressive, that he and his manager were seen backstage later in the evening in discussion with the Million Dollar Man.
“Hacksaw” Jim Duggan will be out of action for around 6 weeks after a brutal post match attack by his opponent Earthquake following the behemoth’s victory over the Glen Falls native. A nasty rib injury will keep him out of action for a while.
Another man on the end of a vicious attack tonight was Dusty Rhodes, only this was during his match with Dino Bravo. “Macho King” Randy Savage, looking for a route back to the top of the WWF ladder has clearly targeted the “American Dream” as a stepping stone to help him back up the rankings.
Bad News Brown held onto his Television Title in his mandatory rematch against the previous champion, Rick Martel and there were fine victories for The Mountie as he continues his ascent up the WWF rankings and The Barbarian in his first singles outing under the management of Bobby Heenan.

Fall Brawl 1990
Orient Express beat The Rockers (12:42)
British Bulldog beat The Mountie (12:32)
Jake “Snake” Roberts beat Brutus “Barber” Beefcake (8:32)
Greg “Hammer” Valentine beat Honky Tonk Man (18:07)
WWF Television Title Match
British Bulldog beat Bad News Brown (18:14)
Hart Foundation beat Power ‘n’ Glory (9:00)
Sgt Slaughter and “Macho King Randy Savage – no contest
WWF InterContinental Title Match
Mr Perfect beat Hulk Hogan (15:36)
Ultimate Warrior & Big Boss Man and “Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase & “Dr Death” Steve Williams – double countout (22:44)
Notes
A brutal main event ended in a non-finish as all 4 men spilled out of the ring and could not be contained in time to beat the count, meaning nothing was settled between any of these men, although Williams had only been brought into the battle at the last minute as DiBiase needed a partner for the evening.
Mr Perfect managed to defeat Hulk Hogan to hold onto his I-C title but also continue his momentum towards a battle against WWF Champion Rick Rude. However, he had help as Jake Roberts managed to distract Hogan long enough for Perfect to gain the upper hand. Earlier in the night, Roberts managed to defeat Hogan’s good friend, Brutus Beefcake, inflicting multiple DDT’s to gain the win. The fact that Roberts smiled and mouthed to Hogan “this is for you” as he hit Beefcake with the 2nd and 3rd DDT’s after gaining the pinfall only served to heighten the tension between the 2 men.
The match between Sgt Slaughter and “Macho King” Randy Savage never even got started as Slaughter was the victim of a vicious sneak attack before the bell rang by Nikita Koloff!! Slaughter was in obvious pain as he was helped to the back by several WWF officials but the fire was still in his eyes and he will be looking to get revenge on Koloff at the earliest possible opportunity.
There is a new WWF Television Champion! After defeating The Mountie to gain a title shot, the British Bulldog managed to upset Bad News Brown in a gruelling match later in the card to win the belt just a few months after converting into a singles wrestler.
There were good wins for Greg Valentine, The Hart Foundation and The Orient Express but none of their respective feuds with Honky Tonk Man, Power ‘n’ Glory and The Rockers appear to be settled just yet….
