I'm not going to attempt to catch up on this card by card, but I'm going to read this newest card and respond to it. Then go back and read what I missed. Jim Cornette was gold around this time period. Always liked the Eaton/Lane version of the Midnight Express more than Eaton/Condrey. Glad to see them getting more time together as you're putting them together earlier. Tough loss for King Tonga but a feud over crowns is always going to get over. And Lawler is sure to get some massive heat in this angle. The thought of the Rockers and Savage as a six man team is too good to be true. Funk and Mr. T? Wow. Now that's a match I would be interested in. It's a screwed up version of Mr. T and Piper but I can definitely get behind it. Haynes/Adams definitely had the feel of Hyatt turning on Haynes to help Adams. Then we got a total curve ball with Gilbert joining the fray. Gilbert/Hyatt together is going to be majorly over and puts him right into a feud with Haynes. Nicely done. Can't say I'd love to see Orndorff/Rhodes go 30 minutes, but this was a good way to bring Tito back into a heated feud if you didn't want Rhodes to eat a pin. Williams is not one guy you'd want to piss off. Pairing him with Roberts is extremely interesting and not two guys I'd ever expect to see together. That definitely makes it interesting. Surprised Armstrong/Taylor pulled off the upset win, but more interested in where Williams goes after this loss. It's awesome to see Piper still in championship form. Love that he is getting a serious run with the title, something he never got in real life. Brody is one of those guys I feel you can have a double countout with and the match is still not a disappointment. Ryan's probably right, this will more than likely lead to a cage match which is a way to let TA go over without Brody having to eat a pin. Good show!

July 4, 1986 - WWA Prime Time Wrestling (Taped June 17, 1986 at Studio 2 in San Francisco, CA)
Tony Schiavone is joined in the booth by Vince McMahon who is sporting a festive Independence Day tie. They go over the major happenings from Portland, including the return from injury of Tito Santana who will be joining them later during tonight’s main event between One Man Gang and Dusty Rhodes.
The Midnight Express (Bobby Eaton and Stan Lane) defeated Bill Mulkey and Randy Mulkey when S. Lane pinned B. Mulkey with the Savate Kick in 0:03:11. Rating: 1/4*
Jim Cornette and The Midnight’s are met at ringside by Ken Resnick who questions “what’s next for The Midnight Express?” Jim Cornette calls Resnick an idiot and says the answer should be an obvious one to anybody with half a brain. He says his guys have been dilly dallying around here long enough and it’s time the Tag Team Champions The Rockers put up or shut up. He issues the challenge for The Cow Palace adding “Mama told me it’s time to bring the gold home!”
Next we see a clip from Portland, after the show has ended and staff are leaving the building. Jerry Lawler is seen preparing to leave. He grabs his crown and just before he puts it on he pauses, then hands it to someone off screen. The camera pans and we see King Tonga standing there, holding the crown with a look of anger on his face. Lawler tilts his head down and since Tonga’s loss has resulted in him working for Lawler for 3 months, he begrudgingly places the crown on Lawler's head. Lawler smiles and turns and in doing so, swings his cape up so high it brushes across Tonga’s face. Lawler then begins walking before he orders Tonga to grab his stuff. Tonga stalls but eventually grabs a bag and begins walking. Lawler than shouts “ALL 5!” Tonga looks over and sees four other bags. He shakes his head, struggles to grab all the bags, and then follows Lawler out of the building.
“Boogie Woogie Man” Jimmy Valiant was out next for a match. He was lively as ever but tonight he was rocking a red, white, and blue party hat, matching glittery vest, and handing out small U.S.A. flags to fans!
Jimmy Valiant pinned Brad Batten after a swinging neckbreaker in 0:02:51. Rating: *
Back in the booth, Tony and Vince recap what transpired between Missy Hyatt and Billy Jack Haynes in Portland before showing the clip. In it we see Eddie Gilbert attacking Haynes and then planting a kiss on the jubilant Missy. After the clip, Haynes enters the booth. He’s obviously frustrated saying “I always knew I couldn't trust that witch, Missy Hyatt, but Eddie Gilbert, she’s your problem now and that’s fine by me. But she’s not your only problem. You cost me the West Coast Championship and I want revenge!” He challenges Eddie Gilbert to a match at The Cow Palace.
After a break we’re treated to an in-ring promo from the WWA Heavyweight Champion, Roddy Piper. Piper says the wrestling world is finally realizing who the greatest Champion today is… him. He reminds everyone his effortless victories over Italy and Poland and says that earlier in the week he beat the top ranked bar room brawler out of Slovakia, Oliver Radovan and then traveled to Taiwan where he put The Assassin #6 to sleep with his patented Sleeper Hold. He then says next week, WWA is importing the most menacing and mysterious challenger from Japan. He admits he’ll have his hands full but no matter what it takes, he’ll be victorious and continue his quest to make the WWA Heavyweight Championship a WORLD Championship.
Jake Roberts and Steve Williams defeated The Moondogs (Moondog Rex and Moondog Spot) when J. Roberts pinned Rex with the DDT in 0:12:46. Rating: **
During the match we’re informed by Schiavone that a pair of singles matches have been signed for The Cow Palace where Jake Roberts will face Terry Taylor and Steve Williams will collide with Brad Armstrong. We then get an insert promo from Terry & Brad who make it clear that "the win we got in Portland was big for us but beating Jake & Williams one-on-one will be the icing on the cake!” Back to the match, Jake & Williams still have some kinks to iron out regarding their teamwork but they were still able to pick up a win in this heavy hitting match over The Moondogs.
We get a clip of the pull-apart brawl that went down in Portland between Bruiser Brody and Magnum T.A. Schiavone says a rematch at The Cow Palace is inevitable but stipulation will likely be added in an attempt to settle this vendetta.
After a break we’re treated to a message from none other than Mr. T, once again on set from the A-Team. He gives a shout out to Dusty Rhodes, Tito Santana, and Magnum TA before sending a message to all the fans of WWA, saying "I pity da fool who doesn't stay safe over da 4th of July weekend!" He adds that he looks forward to seeing everyone next week because filming is wrapping up and he plans on stopping by Studio 2 to check out the best wrestling in the world. As the clip ends, Terry Funk absolutely bombards the booth, shouting all kinds of absurd names and threats towards Mr. T. Camera just goes to commercial in the middle of the rant but he did make it clear that if Mr. T shows up next week, he'll be there to give him a warm greeting!
Bruiser Brody pinned Todd Bradford with the Bombs Away in 0:02:58. Rating: 1/4*
A walk in the park here for Bruiser Brody. No doubt he’s looking forward to another war with Magnum TA on July 19.
Before our Main Event begins, Tony and Vince are joined by Dusty Rhodes and Tito Santana. Rhodes promos first talking about what it means to be “The American Dream” on Independence Day. He gives a few strong words about One Man Gang before heading to the ring to face him. Santana sticks around to address his return as well as call some of the action.
[Main Event] Dusty Rhodes and One Man Gang battled to a no contest in 0:10:34. Rating: * 1/4 [Gary Hart interfered against Dusty Rhodes.]
Dusty is no slouch weighing around 275 but he looked small standing in the ring with the near 7 foot, 400+ pounder that is One Man Gang. He had the added disadvantage of Gary Hart at ringside who played an integral part in distracting Dusty early in the match, giving Gang an opening to really lay down some punishment. On commentary, Santana addressed his return as well as his actions in Portland. He said when Paul Orndorff piledrove him on the concrete, he not only attempted to end his career, but he was taking money and food from his family. Santana said he’s got his sights set on Orndorff and before he could finish his sentence, Paul Orndorff jumped him in the booth. Headsets went flying as Tony & Vince cleared out. The commotion got Dusty’s attention in the ring just as he was getting on an offensive roll over Gang. Tito was pinned under the desk while Orndorff rained punches on him. Dusty rushed to his aid, pulling Orndorff off and landing a couple of Bionic Elbows that put Orndorff on wobbly legs. Then One Man Gang blindsided Dusty, knocking him to the ground and then buried him beneath chairs from the booth. The show came to a close just as a number of wrestlers rushed in to break up the brawl.
Circuit Information:
Join us next week as WWA Heavyweight Champion Roddy Piper defends against the man whom Piper claims is the Top Contender out of Japan. Also, Mr. T plans on stopping by to say hello, Missy Hyatt says she’s going to introduce the WWA to the new man in her life, “Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert. All this and a lot of wrestling action next week!
Next week.

Not the blockbuster Mulkeys debut I was expecting. But Rockers/Midnight should be really really good. Why does Lawler have so many bags!? I want a Jimmy Valiant World Title push or you're out of the Universe. Makes sense Haynes challenges Gilbert right away. Though I don't think he will like the result. THE Assassin #6!? Piper taking on all the toughest challenges! I am looking forward to the day that Williams turns on Roberts. It screams of a Roberts created a monster type situation. I do love the slow build of both of them though. Goddammit, this version of Terry Funk is so much fun. Brody squash is squashy. That was a chaotic brawl to end the show. I liked it. Neither Rhodes nor OMG needs to eat a loss right now, and the brawl really pushed forward the story with Tito and Orndorff. Solid TV. I think I can post now!

July 11, 1986 - WWA Prime Time Wrestling (Taped July 8, 1986 at Studio 2 in San Francisco, CA)
Tony Schiavone is in the booth and he’s more excited than usual! Even though we had great action just last week here on Prime Time Wrestling his enthusiasm would have you believe we’ve been waiting 4 months to see more! He’s justified, however, because tonight’s card is packed full of Champions, a rarity for just one episode. To top it off, the WWA Heavyweight Champion Roddy Piper, in his quest to solidify the title as a WORLD Championship, will be defending later on against an opponent he hand-picked from Japan. He claims his opponent is one of the best, if not THE best in the orient. Let’s not waste any more time!
[Non-Title Match] The Rockers (Marty Jannetty and Shawn Michaels) defeated Vernon Deaton and Gene Ligon when Jannetty pinned Deaton after a double dropkick in 0:05:19. Rating: ** 1/2
Following the match, Ken Resnick met The Rockers at ringside to get their reaction to the challenge made by The Midnight Express last week. Before they had a chance to respond, Jim Cornette appeared and hijacked the segment proclaiming that “I manage the greatest tag team walking this earth, “Beautiful” Bobby and “Sweet” Stan, The Mi…” Jannetty shut Cornette up quick when he grabbed him by the knot of his tie. This must have been all part of the plan, though, as Eaton & Lane nailed The Rockers from behind. Jannetty took a bodyslam on the floor and shortly after, Michaels felt the full force of the Veg-O-Matic inside the ring. Cornette put his foot on top of the unconscious body of Shawn Michaels and raised the hands of The Midnight Express.
After a commercial break Tony Schiavone passes it over to a recorded sit-down interview Vince McMahon did with Missy Hyatt and “Hotstuff” Eddie Gilbert. Three chairs were provided but only two were needed because Missy was sitting in Gilbert’s lap the entire time, smiling, playing with Eddie’s hair, and caressing his face. Somehow none of this distracted Gilbert from responding to McMahon’s questions regarding his involvement in WWA. When asked about his match next week with Billy Jack Haynes, Missy Hyatt aggressively answered for him. She had nothing good to say about Haynes calling him a “loser” among other things. She ended by saying “when Eddie is finished giving Billy Jack the beating of his life he’s going to pursue something far more important… Championship gold.”
Dave Spencer was already in the ring awaiting the arrival of his opponent, Terry Funk. Funk bolted from the dressing room area right to Tony Schiavone in the booth saying “I KNOW MR. T IS HERE! WHERE IS HE?!” Schiavone kept trying to say he hadn’t arrived yet but Funk was shouting so much he likely didn’t hear Tony. Funk angrily stormed the ring to start the his match.
Terry Funk made Dave Spencer submit to the Spinning Toe Hold in 0:04:08. Rating: * 1/4
Funk again rushed the booth after the match, this time ripping the mic from Tony’s hands. He said “WHERE EVER YOU’RE AT, MR. T, YOU NO GOOD, EGG SUCKIN’ DOG, I HOPE YOU WERE WATCHING AND I HOPE YOU’RE LISTENING! I WANT YOU IN THAT RING, ONE-ON-ONE. You think you’re so TOUGH! You think you’re so BAD! SHOW ME!” After dropping the mic and shouting for Mr. T to show himself he finally left the booth apparently to go looking for him.
Next was a vignette filmed from inside Jerry Lawler’s mansion in Memphis, TN. In it, he’s relaxed in a Lazy-boy with his feet propped up. He’s wearing an evening robe and slippers. He talks about how his dominance in WWA began when he won the services of Haku. He holds up his empty wine glass as the camera pans back to show an utterly dismayed Haku, wearing black slacks and bowtie only. Lawler says “don’t just stand there, idiot! Pour me more wine!” As Lawler continues to put himself over Haku struggles with the cork. When he finally pops it off it shoots off screen and we hear glass shatter in the distance. Lawler stands up and scolds Haku, ordering him to go clean up the mess. Haku begrudgingly walks away as Lawler turns back to the camera and says he’s looking forward to beating someone up next week on Prime Time Wrestling.
After another break the lovely Miss Elizabeth leads current United States Champion Randy Savage to the ring for his non-title match.
Randy Savage pinned Rocky King with the Flying Elbowdrop in 0:03:59. Rating: **1/2
Following the showcase victory, Savage and Elizabeth join Schiavone in the booth. Savage addresses The Gentlemen’s Club, more specifically, Chris Adams. He reminds everyone that “the last time WWA was in The Cow Palace I defeated the entire Gentlemen’s Club, one by one by one. SET EM’ UP AND KNOCKED EM’ DOWN, YEAH! And while The Playboy and The Hustler were beat 1, 2, 3, in the middle of the ring, yeah, Adams escaped by getting disqualified, uuuh huh. Well, Chris Adams, I know that I’ve got two things you want, yeah… Miss Elizabeth, whom you will never ever get, and quite frankly, you couldn’t handle her anyway, nope, no way, now how, yeah… and second, you want this United States Championship. SO LET’S MAKE A DEAL! Next Saturday NIGHT… THE COW PALACE… I’ll put this United States Championship ON THE LINE, yeah, to get you in the ring and settle this once and far all, DIG IT?!"
The Moondogs (Moondog Rex and Moondog Spot) defeated The Gentlemen's Club (The Hustler and The Playboy) when M. Rex pinned Hustler after a headlock takedown in 0:10:51. Rating: **
Huge roar from the studio audience as Tito Santana & “The American Dream” Dusty Rhodes enter the booth with Schiavone. Santana gets the promo started by recapping the attack last week when he & Dusty were laid out by Paul Orndorff & The One Man Gang. He reiterated his agenda, get revenge on Paul Orndorff for trying to end his career a few weeks back. Rhodes chimes in and really gets the fans going like only he can. He starts off by saying “many men have tried to take me out, and many men have fallen. One Man Gang, you might be one of the biggest and most awesome men to try to take me out but it ain’t over ’til the fat lady sings. That’s a fact! Same goes for you “Mr. Hardly Wonderful”. You two wanna get down to business? Let’s talk business. One on one, two on two, we’ll let you two decide, but next Saturday night in the Cow Palace, let’s hook it up!” The challenge has been issued to Paul Orndorff & One Man Gang.
Rhodes then waves towards the curtain and out walks none other than MR. T! Schiavone seems mildly starstruck but he manages to ask Mr. T his thoughts on Terry Funk. Mr. T makes it short by saying he doesn’t appreciate Funk calling him out or the disparaging things Funk has been saying. “As a matter of fact, I’ve got a challenge of my own.” With that we cut to a minute and half long vignette of Mr. T training in the ring with Dusty, Santana, and Magnum TA. Once the video ends, Mr. T officially makes the challenge - he wants Terry Funk in the ring at the Cow Palace!
It didn’t take more than a second for Funk to come barreling through the curtain shouting all kinds of things towards Mr. T. He stops before entering the booth since Rhodes & Santana were still there but he kept running his mouth for sure. Through the shouting it was clear that Funk said Mr. T is making the biggest mistake of his life getting in the ring with him next Saturday at the Cow Palace!
It’s time for our main event. Out first, surprisingly was the WWA Heavyweight Champion, Roddy Piper. Ken Resnick stayed in the ring per request of Piper because Piper thought his opponent deserved a proper introduction. Resnick, unprovoked mind you, questioned whether or not Piper’s opponent was even here. Piper said Resnick didn’t see him because… he’s VERY mysterious. Piper continued putting over his opponent as a man who dominates his division in his homeland of Japan, a division he’s ranked #1 in. He finally introduced the fiercest wrestler in ALL of Japan…
Out walked… a little guy? Piper continued to introduce his opponent… “standing at an intimidating FOUR FEET and weighing in at a scale-tipping NINETY-SEVEN POUNDS! This is LITTLE TOKYO!!” Little was an understatement. The fans responded with laughter, but Piper continued the routine of pretending to be intimidated. Once the bell rang Piper acted cautious but once Tokyo charged him, Piper just tripped him and laughed. Piper continued teasing him throughout, not only frustrating Tokyo but also getting the fans really worked up. When the fans really started to get behind Tokyo Piper stopped playing games, easily scooped Tokyo up for three bodyslams in a row and pinned him with one foot.
[Main Event - WWA Heavyweight Championship Match] Roddy Piper pinned Little Tokyo after a bodyslam in 0:03:40. Rating: * 3/4 (Roddy Piper retained the WWA Heavyweight Title.)
A chorus of boos rained down as Piper held his Championship high in the air. Schiavone said the fans won’t have to worry about this nonsense at the Cow Palace on the 19th because Piper will be on an excursion defending the WWA Heavyweight Title in Zimbabwe against The Great Power Uti. Schiavone then added that Bruiser Brody & Magnum T.A. is officially on the card for that evening and right here next week on Prime Time Wrestling a stipulation will be added to that match.
Circuit Information:
Next week’s main event, Billy Jack Haynes collides with “Hotstuff” Eddie Gilbert, who will undoubtedly be accompanied by Missy Hyatt! Also in action, “Gentleman” Chris Adams, “The Boogie Woogie Man” Jimmy Valiant, “The King” Jerry Lawler, and more!

Yay! Progress! The Rockers/Midnight Express match should be great. I'd be happy with a long series. So, do that. Missy Hyatt is going to be a great heel for you. She's so easy to dislike, especially in this role. Hopefully she doesn't overshadow Gilbert too much. Crazy Terry Funk = best Terry Funk I look forward to the day Haku can rip Lawler's head off. Lawler's a fool if he doesn't remember this isn't a full time employment. Savage is the best. He's going to be a little under utilized for a bit as he gets the US Title established, but I can't imagine a world where he's not your top guy going forward. Well, Moondogs won a match, I guess! As silly as Mr. T is in hindsight, there's no way during this time frame that the interactions with he and Terry Funk aren't super over. It's classic 80s nonsense. I'm hoping the match is awful in the best way possible. Man, I thought Little Tokyo was walking out champion. I'm not sure where this angle is ending, but these little stops have been fun in the mean time.

Though I've really only read the last card, admittedly, it was a good read!
Funk/Mr. T should be an interesting match-up.
I enjoyed the Lawler/Haku segment. Not sure if there's been any previous to this, but I could see these being really funny going forward!
And, it's nice to see The Rockers having a championship run.

July 18, 1986 - WWA Prime Time Wrestling (Taped July 8, 1986 at Studio 2 in San Francisco, CA)
Tony Schiavone is in the booth to call a great night of wrestling action. He sets the mood with a banger of an announcement by saying the stipulation for tomorrow night’s match between Bruiser Brody and Magnum T.A. has been declared a LUMBERJACK MATCH! Let’s get to the action!
Jerry “The King” Lawler makes a royal entrance. His servant Haku follows him holding his robe so it doesn’t drag on the floor. Before the match begins, Haku is ordered to fold the robe neatly and hold it and the King's crown for the entirety of the match.
Jerry Lawler pinned Paul Garner after a reverse neckbreaker in 0:03:15. Jerry Lawler suffered an elbow injury. He will be out for approximately 3 months. Rating: *
Lawler gets Haku in the ring and orders him to inflict more damage on Garner. Seeing that Garner has already dealt with enough, Haku tries to reason with Lawler. Chants for “King Tonga” seem to be getting under Lawler’s skin before he shouts back at the audience that “his name is Haku and HE SERVES ME!” Haku refuses so Lawler grabs Garner and positions him for a piledriver. JIMMY VALIANT rushes the ring and Lawler powders. Lawler then orders Haku out of the ring. Valiant tries to tell Haku to stick up for himself but Haku reluctantly leaves the ring, places the crown on Lawler’s head, and the both of them leave together.
Next we see a vignette from Terry Funk in a pasture at the Double Cross Ranch. He’s holding an 8x10 of Mr. T. When Funk speaks he speaks directly at the photo saying that Mr. T has no business in a wrestling ring or in the sport that the Funk family has lived off of their entire lives. He says “you know where you belong?! I’ll show you where you belong!” He then drops the 8x10 into a mound of horse manure and disgustingly stomps it until it’s barely visible. He then hops onto a horse, reminds Mr. T that “tomorrow night at the Cow Palace I’m gonna beat on you and beat on you until your brain turns into marshmellas!” and he rides off as the camera fades.
[Non-Title Match] Chris Adams pinned Tony Zane with the Superkick in 0:03:25. Rating: * 1/4
Following a thorough victory by “Gentleman” Chris Adams, Ken Resnick joins him ringside. Last week Savage challenged Adams saying he would put the United States Championship on the line just to get Adams back in the ring. Tonight here on Prime Time, Adams accepted the challenge saying “after tomorrow night I’ll have the United States title around my waist and shortly after I’ll have Miss Elizabeth as well."
Jake Roberts and Steve Williams defeated George South and Clement Fields when J. Roberts pinned South with the DDT in 0:05:04. Rating: * 3/4
After the match, Roberts & Williams enter the booth with Schiavone to discuss their matches tomorrow night. “Dr. Death” addresses Brad Armstrong wide-eyed and shouting about all the pain and punishment he’s going to put Armstrong through. Roberts then calmly addresses Terry Taylor, saying "a snake strikes swiftly and as ’Terrific’ as you may be, Terry Taylor, in the blink of an eye the DDT will be the end of you."
Jimmy Valiant made Ted Heath submit to the Sleeperhold in 0:01:32. Rating: **
As the bell ring after the 3 count, JERRY LAWLER hits the ring and blindsides Valiant. He grabs a microphone and starts to cut a promo about being the King and ruling WWA. His back is turned to Valiant so he doesn’t see Valiant get back up. Valiant turns him around and lays in a few punches before Haku pulls Lawler out of the ring to safety. Valiant is confused about Haku’s decision and pleads for Haku to throw Lawler back in. Lawler starts to shout at Haku for not helping him sooner as they leave the studio.
After a commercial break Schiavone says Jerry Lawler has agreed to face to Valiant one-on-one tomorrow night at the Cow Palace.
Following that announcement Schiavone welcomes “Mr. Wonderful” Paul Orndorff, One Man Gang, and Gary Hart to the booth. Gary Hart does most of the speaking and replies to the challenge made by Dusty Rhodes & Tito Santana last week. He says he’s discussed the idea with Paul Orndorff and his client, One Man Gang, and they will face Rhodes & Santana in a tag team match tomorrow night. Before leaving Ornorff threatens Santana saying “hey Tito, don’t forget I put you on the shelf once before. Next time, you’ll be on the shelf for good.”
[Main Event] “Hotstuff” Eddie Gilbert (w/Missy Hyatt) vs. Billy Jack Haynes
Main event time! Newcomer “Hotstuff” Eddie Gilbert comes to the ring first with Missy Hyatt attached to his hip. Billy Jack Haynes approaches the ring and Missy unnecessarily hides behind Gilbert. Gilbert reassures her that he’ll take care of Haynes as Haynes stares a hole through him. When the bell sounds we get a very intense lock up. That intensity carried through the entire match. Haynes strength advantage kept him on the offense most of the match but he couldn’t stay on a roll because Gilbert constantly escaped the ring into the arms of Missy. In the final moments of the match Haynes was preparing to lock on the Full Nelson but Missy entered the ring and stood between him and Gilbert. When neither Haynes or Missy backed down, Missy angrily tried to slap Haynes but he caught her wrist. This angered her more and as she winded back to slap with her free hand, referee Bill Alfonso stopped her and backed her towards the ropes. This momentary distraction allowed Gilbert to lift Haynes and drop him throat first across the top rope, a move he calls the Hot Shot. And with that he was able to pick up the pinball victory.
[Main Event] Eddie Gilbert pinned Billy Jack Haynes with the Hot Shot in 0:15:50. Rating: ** 1/2
Missy reentered the ring and stepped on Haynes as she jumped into the arms of Gilbert! Gilbert was still trying to get his bearings while she danced around, rubbing the loss in Haynes face.
Following the final commercial break, Ken Resnick is in the ring and he introduces Magnum T.A. for a promo. Resnick says the match between Magnum and Bruiser Brody will be a Lumberjack Match. After he quickly explains that wrestlers will be surrounding the ring for the match, he asks for comments from Magnum. Magnum says it’s a good thing this stipulation was chosen “because if no one was there to keep us in the ring it’s possible we could tear down the entire Cow Palace beating the hell out of each other.” As he continued, Bruiser Brody came to the ring. He wasn’t exactly trying to be sneaky either as he was shouting at Magnum the entire time. Resnick backed up a little but kept the microphone between them as they aggressively argued with one another. A few things were said, threats were made, and as expected the fists started flying! Resnick got the hell out of there just as wrestlers flooded the ring to pull Magnum and Brody apart! Classic Schiavone plugged the show tomorrow night at the Cow Palace one more time before Prime Time Wrestling came to an end.
Circuit Information:
Tomorrow night is the night! A huge card on tap for WWA’s return to the Cow Palace! And next week’s Prime Time Wrestling is loaded with stars as Dusty Rhodes, Rick Rude, Tito Santana and MORE will be in action! Don’t miss it!

Lawler injury is rough. Luckily, it's the type of injury that he can play up on TV if you want while he's healing. Unfortunate, but still a lot of mileage there.
Funk is the best. Something is really funny to me about him jumping on a horse to end this promo.
Don't think Adams is winning but he's a good hand.
Really enjoy the Roberts/Williams team. Williams needs the charisma help, and this all feels like the beginning stages of Roberts being fantastic.
Though you know he's hurt, would make sense the angle would still go on to make Lawler/Valiant for tomorrow. I fully expect Lawler makes Haku take his place though.
Simple but effective end to the show. Magnum/Brody will be great.
I can already tell your run with Eddie Gilbert is going to be much better than mine. The Eddie/Missy pair just works.

July 19, 1986 - WWA Live Pro Wrestling From the Cow Palace in San Francisco, CA
1. “Dr. Death” Steve Williams vs. Brad Armstrong
Dr. Death is a guy who could contend anywhere in the world with his pure wrestling background alone but ever since he joined forces with Jake Roberts he’s mostly traded in the Greco Roman skills for violence and aggression. Brad Armstrong and Terry Taylor have felt the brunt of Williams’ change but to their credit they’ve managed to go toe-to-toe all along. Tonight’s grudge match highlighted that fact as Williams and Armstrong started the show off hot! The action didn’t slow down until the finish when Dr. Death showed off his freakish strength by catching Armstrong, who had come flying off the top rope with a cross body, with a powerslam!
Steve Williams pinned Brad Armstrong after a powerslam in 0:10:30. Rating: *** 1/4
It was an impressive win by Williams but take nothing away from Armstrong who hung in their despite a size and strength disadvantage. This one really showcased what potential both guys have if they can get on the right path.
Jerry “The King” Lawler came to the ring accompanied by his new servant Haku, who seemed none to pleased about the sleeveless overcoat, too-tight neck tie, and white gloves he’s been forced to wear. Lawler, however, had another new accessory: a gem studded sling to apparently nurse an elbow injury. Lawler got on the house mic and explained his injury, which was met with resounding boos. He continued by saying he is unable to compete against Jimmy Valiant because of said injury, but “my servant here, the silly islander who used to call himself a KING, but has never, will never, and could never BE A KING, who now and forever will go by his peasant birth name, HAKU, will wrestle for me.” Haku looked confused by Lawler’s announcement as “Boogie Woogie” made his nutty entrance.
2. Haku (w/Jerry “The King” Lawler) vs. “The Boogie Woogie Man” Jimmy Valiant
Valiant entered the ring and stood on the second rope to play to the crowd. Lawler noticed Valiant’s back turned and ran over and gave him a shot, knocking him off the ropes. With no where to go in the corner Lawler put the boots to him. Haku and Hebner both pulled Lawler away. Lawler shouted at Haku to take advantage and win the match. Hebner went to check on Valiant who was using the ropes to get to his feet. Valiant demanded the match begin and Hebner rang the bell. Haku obviously sympathetic to what happened wanted to give Boogie Woogie a chance to compose himself. As Valiant staggered toward the middle of the ring he went down to a knee. Haku could see him struggling and went to lend a helping hand but Valiant pulled him into a small package and picked up the win!
Jimmy Valiant pinned Haku after a small package in 0:00:57. Rating: *
Lawler was beside himself as he entered the ring absolutely furious with Haku. Lawler shoved and poked at Haku but Haku could only take so much before going nose-to-nose with the King. Lawler didn’t back down and ordered his “servant” to step back. Jimmy Valiant was encouraging the fans who were now chanting Haku’s name. Valiant tapped Haku’s shoulder to let him know he had his back but Haku responded with a savate kick that no one saw coming! Lawler looked surprised but only for a few seconds before he broke out into laughter over Valiant’s unconscious body. Lawler then left the ring but not before ordering Haku to hold the ropes for him.
3. “Mr. Wonderful” Paul Orndorff & One Man Gang (w/Gary Hart) vs. “The American Dream” Dusty Rhodes & Tito Santana
Quite a bit of heat going into this tag team match. It’s no secret that the feud between Orndorff and Tito has become very personal going so far as Orndorff attempting to end Tito's career. And the rivalry between Gang and Rhodes has been growing week after week. All these elements combined made for an incredible tag team match! After the 15 minute mark Randy Anderson was really struggling to keep things under control but as matches like this tend to do, all hell eventually broke loose. Dusty and Gang took their brawl to the floor throwing heavy hands at one another. Inside the ring Orndorff stuffed Tito for the Piledriver but Tito countered with a backbody drop. As Orndorff got back to his feet Tito got a head of steam, hit the ropes, and came back with the Flying Forearm! He covered but referee Anderson was distracted with the brawl on the floor. This gave Gary Hart the opening to slide in the ring and break up the pin with a stomp to the back of Tito’s head. Tito rolled off Orndorff, not too hurt from the stomp but before he could retaliate Gang was back in the ring and came down with the 747 Splash on Tito! Orndorff simply put his arm across Tito and the referee counted 1, 2, 3!
Paul Orndorff and One Man Gang defeated Tito Santana and Dusty Rhodes when Orndorff pinned Santana after One Man Gang's 747 Splash in 0:20:42. Rating: ****
Dusty recovered and re-entered the ring but not in time to break up the pin. And Gang and Gary Hart were already heading back to the locker room opting not continue the brawl with Dusty. As Dusty tended to Tito, Orndorff rolled out of the ring and staggered away victorious but still groggy from Tito’s Flying Forearm. The bad guys walk away victorious but it’s very clear there are still scores to be settled all around.
4. Jake “The Snake” Roberts vs. “Terrific” Terry Taylor
It was Jake Roberts who took Dr. Death under his wing and set him on a path of destruction that included Brad Armstrong & Terry Taylor. We already saw Armstrong take a tough loss earlier in the night and Taylor was looking to even the score with a win over Roberts. In classic Roberts form he worked slow and methodical but Taylor seemed to have counters for everything Roberts threw at him. Taylor appeared to be well on his way to victory before Dr. Death made his way to ringside. Dr. Death wasted no time getting onto the ring apron and grabbing Taylor’s attention. Referee Alfonso got between them but the commotion gave Roberts the chance to plant a running knee into Taylor’s back sending Taylor flying through the ropes to the floor. Taylor stirred and tried to get back in the ring but Roberts pulled Alfonso’s attention and Dr. Death dropped Taylor with a clothesline on the floor. Taylor then couldn’t make it back into the ring before being counted out.
Jake Roberts defeated Terry Taylor by countout in 0:11:39. Jake Roberts injured his left knee. He will be out for approximately 4 months. Rating: * 1/4 [Steve Williams interfered against Terry Taylor.]
Armstrong rushed to ringside to help out his friend Taylor while Dr. Death & Roberts raised their hands triumphantly in the ring. Roberts was heavily favoring his left leg throughout the match so even though Taylor wasn’t successful he may have done some significant damage to his rival.
5. [United States Championship Match] “Macho Man” Randy Savage (c) (w/Miss Elizabeth) vs. “Gentleman” Chris Adams
Savage wanted to settle the grudge with current West Coast Champion Chris Adams so much so that he was willing to put his own United States Championship on the line, an offer Adams couldn’t refuse. The match was intense from the start and pretty evenly matched for the first few minutes. It’s quite clear that jealousy is what has driven Adams’ actions the past couple of months. He wants what Savage has; the U.S. title and Miss Elizabeth. When Adams took control of the match his confidence hit an all-time high and he didn’t hesitate to ‘show off’ for Elizabeth. This of course got him into trouble and Savage was able to mount some rather devastating offense. The last move Savage hit was his trademark neck snap where Savage jumps over the top rope while holding his opponents head, snapping it across the top rope in the process. Savage slid back in believing Adams would at least stumble up to his feet but when Adams lay still on the canvas, Savage simply pinned him to retain the United States Championship!
[United States Championship Match] Randy Savage pinned Chris Adams in 0:10:01. Chris Adams suffered a neck injury. He will be out for approximately 11 months. Rating: *** 1/4 (Randy Savage retained the United States Championship.)
Adams’ goons from The Gentlemen’s Club, The Hustler & The Playboy, ran to ringside but they didn’t appear to want to confront Savage. Instead they waited for Savage & Liz to leave ringside before helping Adams. Adams was able to walk away from the match with assistance but he looked worse for wear.
6. Terry Funk vs. Mr. T
Quite a bit of photographers were ringside for this one and some of them probably regretted that decision when Terry Funk came out. Funk seemed especially agitated tonight and if a photog was in his path they were either knocked to the ground or chased away. “The American Dream” Dusty Rhodes accompanied Mr. T to the ring which likely was the reason Funk didn’t try to get the jump on T before the opening bell. As soon as Dusty stepped out of the ring the bell rang and basically all hell broke loose. Funk charged like a mad man but T kept his cool and unfortunately for Funk, Mr. T’s got hands! T took Funk to task landing a flurry of combinations throughout the first five minutes that had Funk bouncing all over the place. At one point Funk tumbled backwards through the ropes and miraculously didn’t knock himself unconscious. He rolled back in to beat the count but once he got to his feet, Mr. T surprised Funk and everyone in attendance with a BODYSLAM! Funk barely got to his feet when Mr. T winded up and landed a massive right hand that sent Funk over the top rope and out of the ring again. This time when Funk got up he started hurling ringside chairs and anything else he could find into the ring. The referee tried clearing as much debris out as he could but Funk was relentless. Funk eventually got in the ring with a chair and simply threw it like a frisbee at Mr. T. T blocked it for the most part but the referee finally threw the match out and disqualified Terry Funk.
Mr. T defeated Terry Funk by disqualification in 0:08:58. Rating: 1/4*
The flashes from the photographers lit up the ring as Funk and Mr. T continued to brawl until finally being pulled apart. Mr. T left mostly as calm as he arrived and Funk, well he left much the same way he came in… kicking and screaming.
7. [WWA Tag Team Championship Match] The Rockers (c) vs. The Midnight Express (w/Jim Cornette)
These teams are natural rivals and that was apparent the moment The Midnight Express arrived here in WWA. Over the last few weeks the heat has been rising and tonight was undoubtedly the first of many confrontations between them. Not many teams can match speed with The Rockers but The Midnight Express kept up. The same could be said about The Midnight’s technique being unmatched but The Rockers went hold for hold. In the end, Shawn Michaels was knocked onto the ring apron. Lane went toward him but Michaels lowered his shoulder into Lane’s abdomen and executed a sunset flip. Lane struggled to stay on his feet as Eaton entered the ring to assist but Jannetty knocked him through the ropes with a running dropkick. Cornette saw a chance to hop on the apron and grab Lane’s hands to keep him standing but Jannetty knocked him off with a dropkick as well! Lane couldn’t stand any longer and fell back into the pinning combination and the crowd exploded as Michaels got the 1, 2, 3!
[WWA Tag Team Championship Match] The Rockers (Marty Jannetty and Shawn Michaels) defeated The Midnight Express (Bobby Eaton and Stan Lane) when Michaels pinned S. Lane after a sunset flip in 0:20:09. Rating: ** 3/4 (The Rockers retained the WWA Tag Team Titles.) [Jim Cornette interfered against Shawn Michaels.]
The Rockers hands were raised but their celebration was short lived because Bobby Eaton grabbed Cornette’s tennis racket and nailed them both from behind. Lane was back up putting the boots to The Rockers as well. Cornette entered the ring and got his racket from Eaton and he too got some free shots in on Michaels & Jannetty. It was an ugly sight as The Midnight Express & Jim Cornette left The Rockers laying.
8. [Main Event - Lumberjack Match] Bruiser Brody vs. Magnum T.A.
The lumberjacks made their way out first. Mostly undercard wrestlers surrounded the ring with a few familiar faces; The Playboy, The Hustler, and Brad Armstrong. Brody hussed down the entrance and the wrestlers allowed for a clear path as Brody looked to be on a warpath. Then Magnum came out to a thunderous ovation and once he stepped foot in the ring the fight was on! These two have already had some legendary brawls so the expectations of violence were high here. At one point they spilled through the ropes together but the lumberjacks prevented them from hitting the floor, shoving them back into the ring. This match was going to be settled in the middle of the ring no matter what. The strikes the two exchanged with one another were so fierce that both were bleeding 15 minutes into the match. Brody slammed Magnum and went to the second rope to really do some damage. He came off with a flying knee drop but Magnum rolled out of the way. Now with Brody writhing in pain on the mat, Magnum went to the top rope, something we don’t usually see from him. He came off looking for a splash but Brody got the knees up! Magnum rolled out of the ring holding his abdomen and the lumberjacks were unable to stop him from hitting the floor. He was dead weight at this point and the lumberjacks were having trouble getting him up.
That’s when TERRY FUNK came to ringside, shoving lumberjacks out of the way, grabbed Magnum by the hair and threw him in the ring himself. He was jawjacking with other lumberjacks when DUSTY RHODES came to ringside and went straight for Funk. The two of them started brawling as the other lumberjacks tried to separate them. That is until The Playboy & The Hustler tried to get in some cheap shots on Dusty and then all hell broke loose. In the midst of the melee, Funk managed to enter the ring with his branding iron. Both Magnum and Brody were just then getting to their feet. Funk measured up Magnum and charged with the branding iron but Magnum side stepped him and the branding iron connected with Brody’s head! Brody went loopy but he didn’t go down. Before Funk could take another shot at Magnum, MR. T was in the ring and with a few quick jabs and big right hook, Funk was knocked through the ropes. The action at ringside died down a bit as Magnum once again climbed to the top rope. This time he came off with a flying crossbody successfully taking Brody down and picking up the huge pinball victory!
Magnum T.A. pinned Bruiser Brody after a flying bodypress in 0:24:27. Rating: *** 3/4 [Terry Funk interfered against Magnum T.A..]
Dusty and Brad Armstrong rolled in to congratulate Magnum as Brody rolled out confused. Once Brody realized what happened, he took it out on a few lumberjacks by delivering some stiff punches and kicks before exiting up the aisleway! What a wild night here in WWA!
Card Rating: **1/2 Wrestling Observer’s Match of the Night: Paul Orndorff & One Man Gang vs. Tito Santana & Dusty Rhodes
Circuit Information:
Join us next week on Prime Time Wrestling as Tito Santana goes one-on-one with Paul Orndorff in our main event. Also in action; Rick Rude, Brad Armstrong, “The American Dream” Dusty Rhodes, and more! Plus we will undoubtedly have fall out from this crazy night here at the Cow Palace!

Yay!
I think this is just what Brad Armstrong's career is going to be in the Universe. Not much different than real life. A solid hand and a worker that can go, but it's hard to picture him ever taking a huge step. Williams, however, can still do some damage.
Haku is the much cooler name, so glad we're on that officially. Liked this segment a lot. Lawler can still be effective even with the injury, and Haku might just be going heel after that kick. I can see him getting Stockholm syndrome a bit here and starting to follow Lawler willingly.
Really fun tag match that would have been great to watch live. And the finish leads a lot to be decided in the feud, which I am okay with.
Ugh. Unfortunate injury for Roberts, but like Lawler, he still has a lot to offer even if he can't wrestle if you so want. Not a surprise on the result though.
Injury bug big time this show, with a major one to Chris Adams. The result of this was about what I expected, but like we were discussing, this could very well be the end of Adams in the Universe. He should be able to come back, but he might be someone relegated to the indies for the rest of his career. A bummer, because you had done a great job in this feud.
Another match that I'm sure was awful, but man, would have been a fight to see. The DQ doesn't surprise me. Mr. T wins, Funk doesn't have to lose, mainstream press loves it.
Actually surprised with how low the match rating was for the tag title match. Must not have meshed well this night. Based on how it ended though, looks like they will get some more chances later.
That main event was chaos. So much happening but helluva match. Need more of this please.
Are we back now!?

I can only imagine getting to see such a great card again. I guess that fantasy wrestling is the closest thing we have to that. Great job on this card.
I agree with the comments about Armstrong, seems so many fans liked to watch him but not enough to get that main event push. Such a solid worker.
The record books will show JV jobbing to Haku in less than a minute...might be deceiving but that's what the records will show!!
I was never a Dusty fan, but I saw the appeal to some. Wonder who we worked better programs with, a classical wrestler like Flair or another guy like himself like OMG.
Love that you are using Mr.T, and a Rockers vs Midnight X, that's the stuff dreams are made of brutha.
hummm...Magnum vs Brody interesting since it pits 2 main event talents that fans liked but never starred in McMahon land. Nice of Brody to do the job to the stache.
side note, i see that you have that annoying auto correct spelling too that changes pinfall to pinball
I can't remember, who is The Hustler?
Great card, thanks for posting

July 25, 1986 - WWA Prime Time Wrestling (Taped July 8, 1986 at Studio 2 in San Francisco, CA)
Tony Schiavone is in the booth for another premier edition of Prime Time Wrestling! He welcomes the tv audience with a quick rundown of some of tonight’s card, including a colossal main event pitting two rivals against one another as Tito Santana and Paul Orndorff go one-on-one. He adds that there were so many happenings last weekend at the Cow Palace that he will be discussing many of them throughout tonight’s program.
Brad Armstrong defeated The Golden Terror via pinfall in 0:02:22. Rating: 1/4*
The Golden Terror wasn’t much of a threat here as Brad controlled 95% of the match. Brad suffered a tough loss to Dr. Death last weekend but already seems to be refocused.
Schiavone leads us into a clip from the Cow Palace showing The Rockers defeating The Midnight Express (including Jannetty dropkicking Cornette) and the aftermath of Eaton, Lane, & Cornette leaving the Tag Team Champions laying. Back in the studio The Midnights & Cornette join Schiavone in the booth. Cornette questions “how dare they put hands on ME?!” He continues saying The Rockers were nothing but lucky, the referee should have disqualified them for dropkicking him, and plenty of other excuses. He adds that "The Rockers deserved what happened to them after the match and the next time they face The Midnight Express, not only will the beating be much worse but the Tag Team titles are coming home with us!” Eaton & Lane then went to the ring for their match…
The Midnight Express (Bobby Eaton and Stan Lane) defeated Jerry Grey and Nacho Berrera when Eaton pinned Grey with the Alabama Jam in 0:04:07. Rating: 1/2*
Following the match, Tony Schiavone made the announcement that WWA will be returning to Sacramento’s Arco Arena on August 30th for a HUGE card that will include The Rockers defending the Tag Team titles against whoever the number one contenders are at that time. Cornette overheard the announcement and couldn’t help himself from rushing into the booth, ripping the microphone from Tony’s hand, and proclaiming that The Midnight Express will ABSOLUTELY be the number one contenders come August 30th!
After a commercial break “The American Dream” Dusty Rhodes electrified the studio audience as he made his way to the ring for our next bout.
Dusty Rhodes pinned The Marauder after a reverse neckbreaker in 0:01:08. Rating: * 1/4
Rhodes was out here taking care of business and since he ain’t getting paid by the hour he made quick work of The Marauder. He was joined in the ring by Ken Resnick for a post match interview. Rhodes began to rap about his ongoing rivalry with One Man Gang saying nothing has yet been resolved. However, Gary Hart came to ringside alone and asked to speak. Rhodes said “I got half a mind to put a whooping on ya but since you showing some guts coming out here alone curiosity gettin’ the best of me. Lay it on me!” Gary Hart proceeds to offer his managerial services to Dusty. The fans in the studio immediately shout at Hart like he’s crazy but he goes on to say that Dusty came to WWA for Championship gold and so far he has nothing to show for it. He says with his backing and alongside One Man Gang, together they can rebuild Gary Hart International and become an unstoppable powerhouse in professional wrestling. Gary Hart finishes by saying “Just think about it, Mr. Rhodes.”
Before our next match Vince McMahon was backstage with a report on the current WWA Champion “Rowdy” Roddy Piper. Piper has been continuing his quest to become World Champion with a recent successful defense in Ireland last weekend. Vince added that in two week’s time, Piper will be right back here in the studio to defend the Championship against Puerto Rico’s most notorious athlete, Carlos Colon!
Rick Rude pinned Mark Fleming with the Rude Awakening in 0:02:09. Rating: ***
The Ravishing One was back in action tonight and he looked great, not just physically but technically in the ring. He was clearly his own biggest fan, though, as his constant posing only elicited boos from the studio audience. Regardless, Rude is in tip-top form right now and looking to gain some momentum going forward.
It is now time for our Main Event! “Mr. Wonderful” was out first in a blue robe looking nonchalant. He spoke loudly through the studio about how Santana is nothing compared to him and that tonight he would end him for good. Santana then made his way to the ring with a quick jog and a determined look on his face. Santana took the upsetting pinfall to Orndorff last week in a tag team match at the Cow Palace but tonight would be one-on-one.
The lock up was aggressive and the match was the same way for its entirety. We saw a lot more closed fists from Santana than we’re used to but Orndorff retaliated blow for blow. When Orndorff gained the advantage he focused on Santana’s neck with a number of targeted elbow drops and neck cranks. It was clear Orndorff had bad intentions on his mind. A short comeback saw Santana hit a pair of dropkicks and an atomic drop. He then went for the Flying Forearms but Orndorff ducked and Santana crashed through the ropes and landed hard on the concrete studio floor. Orndorff followed him out and set up Santana for the Piledriver which surely would end Santana’s career! But Santana was able to counter it with a back drop and roll back in the ring! Orndorff was in a lot of pain on the floor but he managed to roll back in the ring to beat the 10-count. But Santana immediately connected with the Flying Forearm and scored the pinfall!
[Main Event] Tito Santana pinned Paul Orndorff with the Flying Forearm in 0:20:39. Rating: *** 3/4
This was a HUGE victory for Santana! And he must have really been feeling it because he grabbed the microphone after the match and had a message for Roddy Piper. Tito said that Piper has yet to defend the WWA Championship against a representative of Mexico and he’s hereby throwing his name in the hat to be the challenger!
Circuit Information:
Wow! Santana stepping up to challenge Piper is certainly something the WWA Board will need to look into if Piper is successful in his defense against Carlos Colon in two weeks. But join us next week because “Macho Man” Randy Savage will be live in the studio to talk about what’s next for him and his United States Championship. Plus incredible wrestling action only on Prime Time Wrestling!

Brad Armstrong back on the winning track. I want him to really succeed in our Universe.
Midnight Express should be winning the tag titles soon. I think they work better as the champs as opposed to the chasers, whereas I think The Rockers are the exact opposite.
Now I don't think Rhodes will join with Gary Hart, but that is not where I was seeing this angle go. Interesting. I'd imagine we get some nice swerves where people think Dusty has gone to the dark side.
Can't wait until Rude gets that main event push.
Huge win for Tito, indeed. Especially during this time period, Piper vs. Santana would have been dope. Hopefully that's our Sacramento main event.

August 1, 1986 - WWA Prime Time Wrestling (Taped July 29, 1986 at Studio 2 in San Francisco, CA)
The show opens with a clip of the final minutes of the main event from the Cow Palace between Magnum T.A. and Bruiser Brody; Terry Funk accidentally knocks Brody loopy with the branding iron, Mr. T lands a few shots on Funk taking him out, and Magnum T.A. connects with a flying cross body on Brody to pick up the win!
Tony Schiavone in the booth for another great hour of Prime Time Wrestling! He runs down the lineup highlighting the main event between Dusty Rhodes and The Hustler! Let’s get down to ringside!
Bruiser Brody pinned Nacho Berrera with the Bombs Away in 0:01:18. Rating: 3/4*
Bruiser Brody didn’t waste any time putting a beating on Nacho and picking up the win. As soon as the bell sounded, though, TERRY FUNK hit the ring, picked up Nacho, punched him in the face, and tossed him out of the ring. Funk was yelling at the top of his lungs as he exited the ring and entered the booth, sending Tony scurrying. Bruiser Brody joined Funk, pacing back and forth as Funk cut a loud promo on Magnum T.A. and Mr. T saying “this isn’t over until WE SAY IT’S OVER!”
After the break, Tony announces that the scheduled WWA Heavyweight Championship Match between Champion Roddy Piper and challenger Carlos Colon has been canceled. Tony wouldn’t go into details as to why but says WWA President Howard Beauchamp would have news regarding Piper and the Championship next week.
Carlos Colon pinned Thunderfoot after an elbowdrop in 0:02:36. Rating: DUD
As Carlos Colon showed his skills in the ring, Ken Resnick joined Tony in the booth. The two discussed how Carlos Colon would have made a formidable opponent for Roddy Piper, and although he won’t be challenging for the WWA Heavyweight Championship next week, he WILL be locking up with “Ravishing” Rick Rude in what will surely be a can’t miss matchup.
THE KING ADDRESSES JIMMY VALIANT
Footage aired from where we can only assume is Jerry “The King” Lawler’s mansion. He’s sitting on a throne, arm in a gem-studded sling, and Haku wearing no shirt and bow-tie is standing with arms crossed behind him. Lawler puts himself over first and foremost before addressing “The Boogie Woogie Man” Jimmy Valiant. He says Valiant would never stand a chance against him, especially considering Valiant barely beat Haku at the Cow Palace; “hardly an achievement if you ask me”. Haku looks slightly annoyed by the comment. He goes on to say if the fans think Valiant is so proud, just wait because eventually, everyone bows to The King. The camera zooms out where we see THE MOONDOGS giving Lawler a foot bath.
Back from a break and Jimmy Valiant joins Tony in the booth. Valiant says he can’t believe The Moondogs would stoop so low as to bow to Jerry Lawler and become his servants. He says The Moondogs and Haku should have more respect for themselves and if he has to, he’ll knock some sense into all 3 of them next chance he gets!
“Dr. Death” Steve Williams pinned Gene Ligon with the Oklahoma Stampede in 0:02:14. Rating: 1/4*
Another impressive victory for Dr. Death. During the match, Tony mentions that Dr. Death is currently the top contender for the United Championship currently held by Randy Savage, who will be joining us for an interview later in the broadcast.
THE BRITISH BULLDOGS ARE COMING
A video package is aired promoting The British Bulldogs; Davey Boy Smith and Dynamite Kid. We see a number of impressive wrestling clips from some their matches in Canada, Europe, and Japan.
[Non-Title Match] WWA Tag Team Champions The Rockers (Marty Jannetty and Shawn Michaels) defeated Jerry Grey and Todd Bradford when Michaels pinned Bradford after a double flying fist drop in 0:05:17. Rating: ** 1/4
The tag team champions put on a showcase of quick tags and double team moves on their way to another victory here on Prime Time Wrestling. After the match, they were joined in the ring by Ken Resnick for a quick promo. They first respond to The Midnight Express saying anytime, anywhere. Cornette keeps saying The Midnight Express are the best tag team in the world but they don’t have the gold to prove it, The Rockers do! They then acknowledge The British Bulldogs, putting the Bulldogs over as a world class tag team and saying they’re looking forward to the Bulldogs entering the ranks here in WWA. It’s obvious The Rockers are drawing attention from tag teams all over the world.
“Hotstuff” Eddie Gilbert (w/Missy Hyatt) pinned George South with the Hot Shot in 0:03:28. Rating: 1/4*
Eddie Gilbert continues his winning ways with Missy Hyatt on his side. We know how devious Missy can be after she betrayed Billy Jack Haynes so it’s anyone’s guess what kind of trouble this new duo will get into in the future.
THE UNITED STATES CHAMPION IS HERE TO STAY
A pretaped promo airs featuring the United States Champion “The Macho Man” Randy Savage and Elizabeth. Savage, with the U.S. title belt over his shoulder, riffs like only he can saying that he’s traveled the country defending the U.S. title and here, in WWA, he’s found the most worthy competition. He says he can look up and down the roster and see tough competition top to bottom. He continues by saying that he’s already staked his claim here by beating Chris Adams and absorbing the West Coast Championship with the United States Championship. He then mentions that he’s heard rumblings that “Dr. Death” is next in line for a title shot, “if it’s yooouuu Dr. Death, then it’s YOU, YEAH!"
[Main Event] “The American Dream” Dusty Rhodes pinned "The Hustler” Rip Rogers with the Bionic Elbowdrop in 0:07:06. Rating: * 1/4
Rip Rogers gave it all he had but Dusty Rhodes is at the top of his game right now. During the match, GARY HART joined Tony Schiavone in the booth and mentioned his proposal to Dusty to join Gary Hart International. Following the match, Dusty joined the booth as well. Gary Hart reminded him of the deal and Dusty said he’s thought about it. He’s thought about it for all of 15 seconds and he wants NOTHING TO DO with Gary Hart International! The crowd pops as Dusty lets Gary Hart know he doesn’t need Gary’s money or his help! Gary Hart looks on furious as Dusty gets the entire studio riled up as he runs down Gary Hart, One Man Gang, and anyone else who associates with them! Gary storms off but not before telling Dusty he’ll regret his decision.
Circuit Information:
Another great hour of action in the books but the train keeps rolling along! Next week on Prime Time Wrestling, you'll see the ravishing one Rick Rude go one-on-one with Puerto Rico’s top athlete, Carlos Colon! Also, Jake “The Snake” Roberts will present a brand new segment he’s calling The Snake Pit. And don’t forget, President Beauchamp will address the situation regarding Roddy Piper and the WWA Heavyweight Championship! We’ll see you next week!

Funk and Brody are such a fun duo here. Like thinking in the context of 1986, they would be legit terrifying.
Uh oh... what's going on with Piper? Injured? Quit? Just a ruse?
I love Lawler here. This is what's going to make him a huge star in our universe. I had a decent run with him, Josh took it up a notch, and I think this will be what cements him. Such a huge douchebag. Moondogs and Haku as his henchmen is great as well.
Dr. Death vs. Savage should be fun.
Ah, the British Bulldogs! Hopefully you have better luck with them than I did. I had big plans and it just never fully worked out for me.
I want to see Rockers vs. Bulldogs really badly.
A classic 80s ultra face segment to end the show. Dusty can't be bought! And now he has potential months of feuds with Gary Hart to look forward to. Good stuff.

August 8, 1986 - WWA Prime Time Wrestling (Taped July 29, 1986 at Studio 2 in San Francisco, CA)
The show opens with a clip from last week of Dusty Rhodes turning down Gary Hart’s invitation to join Gary Hart International.
As Tony Schiavone is introducing the show, One Man Gang heads to the ring while his manager Gary Hart joins Tony in the booth. Hart puts over Gang as the largest and most dangerous man WWA and he’s going to prove it by wrestling two guys at the same time!
[Handicap-Match] One Man Gang defeated Denney Brown and Ron Rossi when One Man Gang pinned both with the 747 Splash in 0:03:11. Rating: -1/2*
Throughout the match, Hart talked about how disrespectful Dusty Rhodes for turning down the invitation to join Gary Hart International. He says he could have taken Rhodes to heights he’d never been in professional wrestling but now that Rhodes made the choice, he’s got a target on his back. Hart has a sizable check for the next guy he finds worthy of joining G.H.I. and it includes a bonus for dealing with Dusty Rhodes.
CONFRONTATION EARLIER IN THE DAY
After a break, Schiavone says that earlier today there was action in the parking lot of Studio 2 and he says cameras caught the incident. We cut to the parking lot where The Moondogs, still in torn jean shorts but upgraded with bow ties, are rolling out a red carpet from the back door of the studio to a fancy looking vehicle at the far end of the lot. Jimmy Valiant aggressively confronts Rex and Spot, questions the kind of men they are and if they had any dignity left, and approaches the vehicle yelling for Jerry Lawler to come out. But The Moondogs stop him and scuffle ensues. Brad Armstrong and Terry Taylor jump in and The Moondogs retreat. Armstrong and Taylor pull Valiant away trying to calm him down.
Back live in the studio, Schiavone welcomes Valiant, Armstrong, & Taylor to the booth. Valiant is still fuming about what went down earlier in the day. He again questions The Moodogs and puts over Armstrong and Taylor as real, dignified, self respecting men. He’s says their the type of guys Valiant can trust and he challenges Jerry Lawler and The Moondogs to a six man tag team match next week!
The Midnight Express (Bobby Eaton and Stan Lane) defeated Frankie DeFalco and Mark Fleming when S. Lane pinned DeFalco with the Savate Kick in 0:06:07. Rating: 1/2*
The well oiled machine that is The Midnight Express chalk up another victory on Prime Time Wrestling.
THE BRITISH BULLDOGS ARE COMING SOON
Similar to last week we get a video package featuring Davey Boy Smith and Dynamite Kid, this time featuring the two men training with weights and working out in a ring in a gym along with some fantastic music.
When we return to Tony in the booth, Jim Cornette is standing by and can’t believe they would run a video over another Midnight Express victory celebration! Cornette continues by saying "The Midnight Express are the greatest tag team in the world. Not The British Bulldogs and certainly not The Rockers. And speaking of The Rockers, here’s some breaking news for them. The Board of Directors has named The Midnight Express the number one contenders and WE ARE the challengers in Sacramento on August 30th. Shine em up, Shawn and Marty because in a few weeks, the Tag Team Championship title belts are coming home with us!”
INTRODUCING THE WORLD'S HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP
Speaking of Championship, Schiavone welcomes WWA President Howard Beuchamp to the booth. He’s holding a case with a very large, shiny, golden belt in it. Beauchamp explains due to Roddy Piper’s unwillingness to defend the WWA Championship against challengers chosen by the Board of Directors, he has been stripped of the title. Piper insisted he would only defend the belt against wrestlers HE deemed worthy of a match and that’s not how it works in WWA. To go along with that decision, the Board of Directors has voted in favor of retiring the WWA Championship as well. Therefore, I now introduce to you the NEW WWA World's Heavyweight Championship. On August 30th, an 8 Man tournament will be held and the winner will be awarded this new Championship. The 8 men competing in the tournament will be named over the next few weeks.
“Mr. Wonderful” Paul Orndorff pinned Rocky King with the Piledriver in 0:03:13. Rating: **
Orndorff looked cut from stone tonight. Following his victory, he gave the fans a lengthy double bicep pose before looking into the camera and saying “you’re looking at the future World Heavyweight Champion!”
THE SNAKE PIT
The next segment takes place in a corner of the studio on an eerie set called The Snake Pit. Out of a dark entryway and onto the set is none other than Jake “The Snake” Roberts and he’s got his snake draped over his shoulder. He gently places the snake into a smaller, elevated pit and grabs a microphone. He speaks calmly but sinisterly while putting himself over. He then introduces a good friend of his, “Dr. Death” Steve Williams to talk about his upcoming match with the Macho Man for the United States Championship. Williams is so intense it almost looks like he’s shaking. He doesn’t say much and leaves a lot of the talking to Roberts, who makes it quite clear that the Macho Man’s reign as U.S. Champion will come to an end at the hands of Dr. Death.
Bruiser Brody and Terry Funk and Tony Zane and Bill Tabb fought to a no-decision. Rating: * 3/4
Well, not much of a match here but a hell of a brawl. Brody & Funk dragged poor Zane & Tabb out of the ring and beat the hell out of them around the studio for a good 2 minutes. When Funk finally rolled Tabb back into the ring the referee took a good look at him and decided the best decision would be to throw the match out. Funk went for the referee who ran for his life while Bruiser Brody came into the ring, grabbed Zane and carelessly tossed him over the ropes.
As Funk and Brody came towards the booth, Schiavone also made a run for it. Funk cut a promo on Mr. T and Magnum T.A., challenging them to a tag team match against him and Brody in Sacramento! Oh my.
[Main Event] Carlos Colon and Rick Rude battled to a double countout in 0:12:41. Rating: *** 3/4
The show ended with an excellent match. Colon was supposed to be the next challenger for Roddy Piper, but circumstances took that shot away from him for the time being. Rude has always had a chip on his shoulder and he stepped right up to take on Puerto Rico’s best wrestler. Both men know there are 8 spots in the upcoming World's Heavyweight Championship tournament and they fought hard tonight to be considered for a spot. In the end, they took a tumble out of the ring to the floor. As referee Randy Anderson counted, Colon looked like he was going to roll in and beat the count. But Rude prevented it, the two exchanged some hard shots, and Anderson counted them out. Finally, Colon was able to get some distance and roll into the ring where he challenged Rude to come in and continue the fight. But Rude opted not to and went back through the curtain as the show came to a close.
Circuit Information:
Wow! I don’t think we’ve seen the last between Colon and Rude! Sacramento is REALLY stacking up with the announcement of the World’s Heavyweight Championship tournament, not to mention the other Championship matches on the card as well. Also, will Mr. T and Magnum T.A. except Funk & Brody’s challenge? We might find out next week! Speaking of next week, Jerry Lawler says he’s still nursing an injury and will NOT wrestler. However, he’s having Haku & The Moondogs except the challenge from Valiant, Taylor, & Armstrong; SIX MAN TAG TEAM ACTION NEXT WEEK!

That's quite a turn of events with your top title!
Did the Rockers ever face the Midnights in real life?
Stan Lane's savate kick finisher should be called Sweetness. Unless he proceeds it with a kick to the groin, in which case it could be Sweet-n-Low.

I've probably said it before, but I really dig how you're using One Man Gang. I just have a soft spot for him in general. Mid-80s Rhodes vs. Gang would be such a fun hoss match.
Six-man tag should be fun. I LOVE the image of the Moondogs in bowties. Like that alone makes them classy now.
I am salivating over a series of matches involving combinations of The Rockers, The Midnight Express, and The British Bulldogs. I don't think the Midnights are beating the Rockers for the titles in Sacramento, but it's going to be a damn good one.
That's huge news with the World Title being introduced. I think you and I had discussed it in the past, but Piper quitting during all of this is both unfortunate but really on brand with his personality. At least with the tournament this championship is going to be fresh, and you have a lot of options. Does it go to an old reliable like Dusty Rhodes, or do you pull the trigger on making a new star like Tito Santana? Lots of possibilities here.
Or maybe Orndorff?
I could see Dr. Death beating Savage. I'm not betting on it, but I can see it. It feels like he is nearing that point where he needs to turn that corner.
I very stupidly hope Mr. T just stays around forever.
I think Colon being a pick in the World Title tomorrow wouldn't be a bad idea. He's not winning, but gives it more of a worldwide feel.
Lawler is such a slimeball and I love him.

I wish there was a third active circuit in this universe so Piper could show up there with the old WWA Championship, ala Ric Flair in 1992 WWF.

August 15, 1986 - WWA Prime Time Wrestling (Taped July 29, 1986 at Studio 2 in San Francisco, CA)
The show opens with Tony Schiavone giving a rundown for tonight's action as well as a reminder that on August 30th, 8 men will compete in a one-night tournament to declare the World's Heavyweight Champion. On this program 3 men who have qualified for the tournament will be announced. Let's go to the ring!
The British Bulldogs (Davey Boy Smith and Dynamite Kid) defeated Mike Simani and Nacho Berrera when Dynamite Kid pinned Simani with the Flying Headbutt in 0:03:22. Rating: ** 1/2
The long awaited debut of The British Bulldogs did not disappoint. Hard hitting, quick team work, and excitement is what they put on display here. Ken Resnick caught up with them at ringside for an interview where they made it very clear that they wanted to compete against the best teams WWA has to offer and they've got their sights set on tag team gold.
ENTRY #1
After a break we see Tony Schiavone standing beside a case and inside is the World's Heavyweight Championship. He says he wants to announce the first name in the tournament for the belt; "The American Dream" Dusty Rhodes! Dusty enters the studio to a loud ovation, takes a good long look at the Championship, and raps about overcoming the odds on August 30th and leaving the Arco Arena as the World's Heavyweight Champion.
The Moondogs (Moondog Rex and Moondog Spot) and Haku defeated Brad Armstrong, Jimmy Valiant and Terry Taylor when Haku pinned J. Valiant with the Savate Kick in 0:11:58. Rating: * 1/2
A big-time grudge match here as Jimmy Valiant continues to try to settle the score against his former friend, Haku, and Haku's "master", Jerry Lawler. Valiant's friends, Armstrong & Taylor, made for excellent team mates as the trio of Haku & The Moondogs were no match for them. However, once Jerry Lawler made an appearance in the booth alongside Tony Schiavone, Valiant took his eye off the prize and was nailed by Haku's Savate Kick and pinned.
ENTRY #2
Back again to Schiavone in the booth he next announces "Mr. Wonderful" Paul Orndorff for the tournament. Orndorff walks out to a chorus of boos, to which he seemingly ignores as he removes his robe and poses. Orndorff said it's nights like the one coming up on August 30th that he trains for. He says this body is built to be a Champion and no one can stop him from winning the tournament!
Magnum T.A. pinned The Golden Terror with the Belly-to-Belly Suplex in 0:02:36. Rating: * 1/4
After Magnum made short work of his opponent, he joined Schiavone in the booth. Last week Bruiser Brody & Terry Funk challenged Magnum & Mr. T to a match on August 30th. Magnum said no sooner after the challenge was made, his phone was ringing. And on the other end was Mr. T, who not only had a few choice words about Brody & Funk which can't be repeated on television, but he also said he pittied Brody & Funk. Magnum continued saying he's never backed down from a challenge and Mr. T made it clear that he doesn't either. THEY ACCEPT! Mr. T & Magnum TA versus Bruiser Brody & Terry Funk on August 30th! Holy cow!
Tito Santana pinned The Playboy with the Flying Forearm in 0:05:16. Rating: ** 1/4
The Playboy was up to his usual antics (oiling, posing, and pelvic thrusting) but Santana wasn't playing any games. No sooner did the bell ring before Santana was flying across the ring with a pair of dropkicks and hitting his patented Flying Forearm for the win.
ENTRY #3
Following the match, Santana joined Schiavone in the booth for the official announcement that he would be competing in the World's Heavyweight Championship tournament. Santana said some injuries and a few bumps in the road have slowed his momentum down a year ago but he's better than ever and his main priority his winning the the tournament on August 30th.
[Main Event Non Title Match] Randy Savage pinned Gene Ligon with the Flying Elbowdrop in 0:02:20. Rating: **
No one has ever questioned Savage's intensity but he looked to be on a different level here. And even though a massacre was taking place inside the ring, outside of the beautiful Miss Elizabeth was right there in support holding the U.S. Championship. After Savage finally ended the match, Ken Resnick approached him and Elizabeth at ringside.
SAVAGE RESPONDS TO DR. DEATH AND JAKE ROBERTS
Savage, through gritted teeth and very tense body language, not only addressed the force that is Dr. Death, but even put into question that Dr. Death might just be the kind of guy that could hang with him in the ring. We'll find out on August 30th. But he tore into Jake Roberts for being an even bigger snake than Jake claims he is, and that if Jake wants to get involved, Savage wouldn't hesitate putting Jake, his snake, and Dr. Death all out of commssion for good.

Quick squash for the Bulldogs to establish them here.
Dusty Rhodes as the first man entered into the World Title tournament is a no brainer - of your roster, he's probably the person with the most clout right now so makes sense.
I've really enjoyed Lawler and his crew. I still think it's a matter of time before Haku murders Lawler for the abuse, but it's going to be a fun ride to get there.
I could honestly see Orndorff being the first man to win the title. I guess in my head it depends on if you want a strong babyface champion to start or a strong heel champion to have a face chase.
Magnum TA and Mr. T is a pairing that will continually make me laugh, but it's the perfect mid-80s camp that works. That should be a fun mess of a match.
Or maybe Santana will win. Shit, you have a lot of feasible first champs. Haha.
Intense Savage is a scary Savage. I am loving the the prospect of Savage and Dr. Death destroying each other.
