~Terry Gordy was scheduled to be in this tournament with Michael Hayes. However, Terry broke his contract and was released from the company, This forced Hayes to call on his friend, Jimmy Garvin. There was some talk of replacing the entire team. However, since it was signed as The Fabulous Freebirds, then the match took place. After a lengthy, hard fought battle, the Freebirds came out with the win to advance.~

The team did do an admirable job, but it was not to be as the masked marvels took the win to advance to the championship match.~

~With Stan Stasiak leaving the WCWF, and the two former champions returning, the WCWF thought that it would be only fair that they should be put in the ring with Dr. X in a three way dance for the title. Shane Douglas eliminated Dr. X, however, the time limit ran out and we still do not have a TV champion.~

~This was, by far, the best match in the singles tournament. Billy Robinson, the first qualifier for the tournament, showed that somewhere down the road, he will be the world champion, but not tonight!~

Great Kabuki vs Austin Idol
~Two of the three surprise wrestlers in the tournament went at it in a classic battle. The end was near when Idol went for a piledriver and Kabuki blocked it. One DDT later, Kabuki won the match, but the battle was over as Kabuki suffered an injury which knocked him out of the finals.~
