Notes:
After 3 incredible nights of intense action (and more than a few surprises), the UCW has its first champions with Ric Flair, the Great Muta and The Rockers winning the belts, and much deserved victories they all were.
UCW owner Vince McMahon has announced that legend Harley Race will be the first UCW president with responsibility for all decisions in and out of the ring to do with the wrestlers.
Race announced that the next pay per view event would be Royal Rumble on Sunday 27th January 1991. Race also announced that the first roster for the UCW (in time for the Royal Rumble) will be 28 wrestlers. Obviously with the first 4 spots taken by the new champions, that leaves 24 wrestlers to be named to fill out the roster. Race finished by saying he would be announcing these names in the next few days……..

I like what I see so far. Keep up the great work. Ric Flair vs Bob Backlund seems on the surface to be a great match. I look for Flair to retain. I also look for Muta to retain against Barry Windham. I do see Anderson and Blanchard to capture the tag team belts. I would like to see Mr. Perfect win the Rumble. A match against Flair would be amazing.

Notes:
The first real pay per view of the newly created Ultimate Championship Wrestling produced no shortage of thrills and spills as well as more than a few surprises. Perhaps the biggest surprise was the Royal Rumble match victory for veteran Jake “Snake” Roberts. Having never really come close to a title in his WWF career, Roberts immediately has an opportunity to become World Champion at Wrestlemania I, when he faces reigning champion “Nature Boy” Ric Flair. Despite having the advantage of being last man into the ring, Roberts had to fight off more than half the competitors who were still in the ring as he entered, to win the match, last eliminating Sting (who had been very destructive during the match, eliminating a quarter of the participants on his own). In a typically cryptic interview after his victory, Roberts talked about changing times in the world of wrestling and he had big plans to take advantage of those changing times. When pressed on what that meant, the “Snake” just smiled and said the whole world would see soon enough!
As hinted at previously, Ric Flair managed to see off the determined challenge of Bob Backlund to hold onto the UCW World Title. The Rockers escaped with the tag titles, thanks to a DQ win over Horsemen Anderson & Blanchard but in the first match of the evening, Barry Windham managed to defeat the Great Muta to win the UCW InterContinental Title.
UCW President Harley Race said two new wrestlers had been signed by the UCW and they would be making their debuts in the UCW very soon – but he gave no further clues on their identities.
Race also said that in the next few days, he would also be announcing the full calendar of events for the UCW.

Clash of the Champions IV
Jake Roberts & Great Muta v RIC FLAIR & BARRY WINDHAM
Tag Team No.1 contenders Battle Royal
Big Boss Man v Mr Perfect Randy Savage v Rick Rude Sting v Bam Bam Bigelow Bob Backlund v Bret Hart
Notes:
A curious request from Jake Roberts to team up with the Great Muta to take on their opponents in the title matches at Wrestlemania was accepted by UCW President Harley Race, creating the main event for the next Clash. Also, there will be a Battle Royal to determine which tag team will face champions The Rockers at the big pay per view.
Finally, Race announced that title shots would be earned by victories in UCW so each wrestler on the roster knows that any win could be important in propelling them up the rankings and putting them in line for a title shot.

Clash of the Champions IV
Bob Backlund beat Bret Hart (13:23)
Demolition won a 7 team Tag Team Battle Royal (22:11)
Mr Perfect beat Big Boss Man (9:01)
Randy Savage beat Rick Rude (4:50)
Sting beat Bam Bam Bigelow (14:50)
Jake Roberts & Great Muta beat Ric Flair & Barry Windham (27:01)
Notes:
A stunning night of action and an even more stunning climax to the main event. Many people were questioning Jake Roberts’ request to team with Great Muta against Ric Flair and Barry Windham just a month before he faced Flair for the UCW Title at Wrestlemania, but all became clear in the most shocking manor. Things seemed unusually friendly between Muta and Roberts during the match and all became clear towards the end of the match. Ax and Smash of Demolition made their way to the ringside area and distracted Flair and Windham to allow Roberts to hit the DDT for the win over Windham. Then, to the surprise of all, all 4 men proceeded to attack Flair and Windham. The other Horsemen rushed to the ring but they were unable to stop the vicious attack. With the Four Horsemen lying in the ring and ringside area, Roberts took a microphone. He said a new era was beginning in wrestling. The Great Muta and the mighty Demolition were the first inductees into his “Ministry of Evil” and Roberts was the leader. Tonight was just the first part of his master plan to “take over” the UCW and the whole of professional wrestling. All of his “men” had title shots at Wrestlemania and soon all the UCW gold would be in the “Ministry”. With that, he led his followers out of the ring to a hushed silence throughout the arena.
Earlier in the night, Demolition earned their title shot by outlasting 6 other teams to win a Tag Team Battle Royal set up to determine the No.1 contenders and the team that will take on the champions, The Rockers at Wrestlemania.
In other matches Sting, Randy Savage and Mr Perfect earned places in a No.1 contenders triangle match at Wrestlemania with solid victories tonight.
Finally, the opening match of the night was a technical classic between Bob Backlund and Bret Hart. After Backlund managed to gain the victory he was attacked by what appeared to be a mystery assailant. The assailant was unveiled as Jerry “King” Lawler, the latest UCW signing!

Wrestlemania Showdown
Jerry Lawler beat Tito Santana (13:53)
Rick Martel beat Arn Anderson (13:14)
Shawn Michaels beat Smash (16:27)
Big Boss Man & The British Bulldogs v Rick Rude & The Fabulous Freebirds – double countout (13:26)
Face to Face Interview – Jake Roberts & Ric Flair
Notes:
This special mini-event on the eve of Wrestlemania was designed to whet the appetite for the big event and it certainly managed that.
The big talking point was the face to face between UCW Champion Ric Flair and title challenger, Jake “Snake” Roberts. Flair, can normally out talk and outsmart anyone, but he met his match tonight as he was uncharacteristically goaded into changing the rules of the big title match to a No DQ, No countout match, signing the new contract in front of UCW President Harley Race, as Roberts looked on with a big smile on his face. As soon as the contract was signed, Flair said he was more than ready for anything Roberts and his “Ministry of Evil” could come up with – and his Horsemen would be ready too, but this only made Roberts smile more as he said he had a huge surprise in store for Flair – and everyone – at Wrestlemania…….

The Steiners beat The Nasty Boys (11:29)
UCW World Heavyweight Title Match
Jake Roberts beat RIC FLAIR (33:50)
Notes:
What an incredible night for The Ministry of Evil!!! They now hold all the gold in the UCW after defeating all the reigning champions in one historic night of dominance!!!!
THE UNDERTAKER is back!! Jake Roberts was not understating things at Wrestlemania Showdown when he said he had a big surprise in store for Ric Flair. Having talked Flair into signing a no DQ, no Countout match, Roberts took full advantage as The Deadman made his way to the ring during the course of the match and ultimately his interference enabled Roberts to his patented DDT finisher to win the match and take the World Title!!
Earlier in the night the Great Muta regained the UCW InterContinental Title from another member of The Four Horsemen, Barry Windham and in perhaps the least surprising result of all three, Ax and Smash of Demolition emerged victorious from a gruelling fight against The Rockers, to win the UCW World Tag Team belts. A simply amazing night for The Ministry and with The Undertaker joining their ranks, they seem unstoppable at the moment.
That won’t stop the rest of the UCW roster from trying though, and in a special triangle match to determine the No.1 contender to the UCW World Title, Randy Savage defeated Mr Perfect and Sting to move into prime position for a title shot very soon.
A miserable night for the Horsemen was concluded as Arn Anderson and Tully Blanchard were defeated by Strike Force and there were also good wins for Big Boss Man, Bob Backlund, The British Bulldogs and The Steiners.

UCW InterContinental Title Match
The Great Muta beat Bob Backlund (12:57)
No.1 Contenders Match
The Steiners beat The British Bulldogs (18:33)
Notes:
There was some great action tonight but the main talking point was the face to face confrontation between The Ministry and The Four Horsemen! Flair and his cohorts were being interviewed, warning of the dangers to UCW of The Ministry when UCW Champion Jake Roberts, Great Muta, The Undertaker and Demolition turned up. Although they seemed primed to fight, Roberts just smiled and remarked how rich it was to see the Horsemen, who had prided themselves over the years in dominating wrestling as a group, we're now expecting the locker room to help them deal with The Ministry! Flair was apoplectic with rage at being interrupted, and he swore he would get back the UCW Title no mater what. As he stepped towards Roberts, The Undertaker stepped in the middle, causing Flair and the rest of the Horsemen to take As step back, leaving The Snake to smile even more, before walking away.
In the ring, there were solid title defences by Demiolitin and The Great Muta, while in his in-ring debut, The Undertaker absolutely dominated veteran Tito Santana, only the presence at ringside of his tag team partner, Rick Martel saving him from a more serious beating.
Last but not least, a classic tag team encounter between two very popular teams, saw The Steiners emerge victorious to gain a title shot at Demolition at SuperBrawl I

Notes:
Despite the obvious tension between them, Ric Flair and the Macho Man managed to defeat UCW Champion Jake Roberts and the UCW United States Champion Great Muta in our big main event tonight!! The victory came at a price though as the remaining members of the Ministry of Evil attacked the pair almost as soon as the bell rang at the end of the match – they were eventually saved by the remaining members of the 4 Horsemen. Earlier in the night The Undertaker continued to look a devastating force in the UCW as he led his team to a hard earned victory over the Horsemen. The King of the Ring tournament started tonight and 3 excellent first round matches saw Sting, Mr Perfect and Bam Bam Bigelow progress to the next round and the pay per view. Finally, during an interview segment, The Rockers were viciously attacked by Sags and Knobbs, The Nasty Boys, instigated by their new manager, Jimmy Hart!

UCW WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE MATCH
JAKE “SNAKE” ROBERTS defeated “Macho Man” Randy Savage by countout (24:49)
Notes:
From start to finish, the first Superbrawl didn’t disappoint with another tremendous night of UCW action!!
In the main event, Ministry of Evil leader, Jake “Snake” Roberts held onto the UCW World Title – just – when his protégé, The Undertaker interfered in his match, causing Randy Savage to fail to make it back into the ring before the 10 count, after a gruelling encounter. The Great Muta also had a lucky escape as he got himself disqualified – by spraying green mist into the face of Ric Flair – thus holding on to the UCW InterContinental belt. In the final title match of the night, Demolition surprised many onlookers when they managed to outlast The Steiners in their best of 3 falls title match. After an early disqualification left them 1 fall down, Demolition managed to even up the score when Scott Steiner was counted out, before they finally managed to use a tag belt – unseen by the referee of course – to gain the vital winning pinfall! 3 more wrestlers made it through to the King of the Ring tournament tonight as The Undertaker, Bret “Hitman” Hart and “Ravishing” Rick Rude all impressed en route to the 2nd round of the tourney. Finally, there was a big debut tonight as “Dr Death” Steve Williams made his first appearance in a UCW ring, convincingly defeating Rick Martel in the opening match of the night. Next up is Saturday Nights Main Event, which will feature the final two qualifying matches for King of the Ring!!!!

SATURDAY NIGHTS MAIN EVENT – 25th May 1991
“Dr Death” Steve Williams defeated Bob Backlund (11:33)
Tully Blanchard defeated Jerry “King” Lawler (13:17)
The British Bulldogs defeated The Freebirds (9:56)
Arn Anderson defeated Big Boss Man via countout (13:21) – King of the Ring qualifier
“Macho Man” Randy Savage defeated The Great Muta (10:01) – King of the Ring qualifier
Notes:
Two separate pieces of outside interference helped to determine the final 2 qualifiers for next month’s King of the Ring tournament. In the main event, it was Tully Blanchard – who had earlier defeated Jerry “King” Lawler in his first match for a couple of months – who connected with a chair shot to the heard of UCW InterContinental Champion, The Great Muta, enabling Randy Savage to gain a simple 1-2-3. Through an interpreter, Muta demanded a match against Blanchard, which the Horseman agreed to, as long as the I-C title was on the line – so the match is on for King of the Ring!! In the other qualifying match, “Dr Death” Steve Williams decided to interject himself at the expense of the Big Boss Man, meaning the lawman from Cobb County was unable to beat the referee’s count, therefore losing on a countout to Arn Anderson, meaning the Horseman will progress to the tourney – the only member of the Horseman to be part of the single elimination tournament.
The British Bulldogs warmed up for their title match at KotR, with a solid victory over The Freebirds. However, the timing of Davey Boy and Dynamite Kid was a little off at times, and Dynamite particularly did not seem too happy at the end of the match.
The full card for King of the Ring has now been set and is as follows:
UCW WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE – CAGE MATCH
Ric Flair v JAKE “SNAKE” ROBERTS
UCW INTERCONTINENTAL TITLE
Tully Blanchard v THE GREAT MUTA
UCW WORLD TAG TEAM TITLES
The British Bulldogs v DEMOLITION
King of the Ring Tournament
