This past weekend, I watched the AAA show on Galavision, and they had the Dr. Wagner Jr/Sabu matchup. It was a little short for my taste, and Sabu didn't include all of his great moves. It seems that he was there to put Dr. Wagner Jr over, as if he needed it. But what caught my attention is that Sabu is now bald! This is not from the actual match itself, but shows a bald Sabu anyway. Attachments:

That's definitely a disturbing look for Sabu.

Three possible explanations:
1) He lost a Hair Match at some point recently
2) He's been balding, and was using that top-knot style for the last couple of years to hide it
3) It was costing too much time and money to apply stiches through that messy hair of his.

I worked with Sabu in January, and he didn't appear to be balding. He did look like a mess though. I feel bad for the guy. He's a really good nice guy, but I watched him hurt himself lifting his arm. Seriously.
It sounds awful, but how he's not a statistic yet is amazing.

Obviously, I was joking about all three of those... Well.... I hope so anyway The guy needs to kick back, open a school with RVD, and relax a bit. Enjoy some time with the family, and all. I've been rewatching the original ECW in order recently (Up to late 94 now), and seeing Benoit drop him on his head still causes me to cringe, even 15 years later. How he hasn't been a statistic a dozen times over in the last decade is a miracle.

I don't think he has the money. He works because he has to.

Although I did notice this past weekend that he did not do a lot of his regular moves. Maybe he is realizing that he cannot do some of those things anymore.

Maybe he's realising he couldn't/shouldn't have done them THEN :-P
I just watched his first two matches with Cactus Jack in ECW... Holy Fuck.
And there's still Public Enemy, Jericho, RVD, Taz, The Eliminators, Furnas and Kroffat, Funk in Barbed Wire, etc, etc, etc to go...

I'm trying to catch up on my DVR'd lucha libre and I just watched the Wagner/Sabu match. I was just happy to see it because both of these guys are in my Top 10 of all time favorites. Would have tore the house down 10 years ago.
I worked on a show a little over a year ago with Sabu. Shook his hand and he asked me if I had any weed.

Well, I just hope TNA or WWE hires him as a trainer or something less physically demanding... Don't wanna see him end up like Dynamite Kid
