It's 1986, and wrestling is heating up. The WWF is bringing wrestling to new heights, and driving it's competitors under. A regional promotion in the southwest United States just popped up to try to capitalize on the popularity of wrestling at the moment. With a rag tag roster of stars, can they compete with the WWF? We'll find out.
This is Four Corners Championship Wrestling.
FCCW will run one show a month out of the Sportplex, a 1250 seat auditorium in Santa Fe, New Mexico. They've commissioned two titles: the FCCW Four Corners Championship and the FCCW Four Corners Tag Team Championships.
The initial roster of 20 was put together mostly by calling in favors from friends, as the owners of FCCW, who wish to remain anonymous, have long standing connections in the business, and include only a couple of people that the casual wrestling fan would recognize.
However, there is no other promotions running in the area, and the WWF rarely comes out this way, so it's untapped potential. Will it last? Who knows.

Match 1: Buddy Rose defeated Sam Houston with the DDT in 4:04. Match rating: * 1/2
The first bout in FCCW history is a solid, short affair between Buddy Rose and Sam Houston. Buddy Rose controls a large chunk of the match, and picks up the win with his signature DDT.
Jim Cornette introduces his new team: Jim Cornette tells Gordon Solie that he's in FCCW for one reason and one reason only: to put an end to the careers of the Rock 'n' Roll Express. He says he's finally got a team he thinks can derail the Express. He introduces "Sweet" Stan Lane and "Doctor" Tom Prichard, The Heavenly Bodies. He says that tonight, The Heavenly Bodies will do all their talking in the ring. Rating: $$ 1/4
Match 2: The Heavenly Bodies defeated Jim Powers & Tito Santana in 12:30 when Prichard pins Powers after the Superkick. Match rating: **
Impressive debut for the new team, as Santana and Powers are not pushovers, but were handled nicely by Prichard and Lane. Cornette managed to keep his tennis racket out of this one.
Fritz Von Erich introduces the FCCW Title Tournament: Fritz Von Erich announces the start of the FCCW Title Tournament. It's to be a one night, 8 man tournament. The brackets look like this:
Chris Adams Bad New Brown
Kerry Von Erich Bruiser Brody
Bill Irwin Dino Bravo
Stan Hansen Koko B. Ware Rating: $$ 1/2
Before the match: "Gentleman" Chris Adams offers Bad News Brown a handshake, which Bad News Brown wants no part of. Rating: $$
Match 3 - FCCW Title Tournament - 1st Round: Bad News Brown defeated Chris Adams in 2:12 when Bad News Brown held the tights of Chris Adams. Match rating: ** 1/4
The opening bout of the FCCW Title tournament kicked off with a great match between Bad News Brown and "Gentleman" Chris Adams. Adams tried to offer Brown a sportsmanlike handshake, but Brown swatted his hand away. Not only did Bad News not feeling like being a good sportsman at the start of the match, he finished the match in much the same way, when he rolled Adams up and pulled the tights for extra leverage.
Match 4 - FCCW Title Tournament - 1st Round: Kerry Von Erich defeated Bruiser Brody in 8:27 with the Tornado Punch. Match rating: ** 1/2
Bruiser Brody was all over Von Erich in the opening part of this match, but once Kerry got the upper-hand he never let go. Von Erich advances to the semi-finals in front of his father when the Tornado Punch puts Brody down for the 3 count. He'll meet Bad News Brown later tonight.
Match 5 - FCCW Title Tournament - 1st Round: Bill Irwin defeated Dino Bravo in 7:14 with the Float Kick. Match rating: * 3/4
"Wild" Bill Irwin met Dino Bravo in our next tournament match. It looked like Dino Bravo was going to cruise his way to a victory when Irwin hit his patented Float Kick out of nowhere. Bill Irwin advances to the semi-finals, and unless some divine intervention happens on behalf of Koko B. Ware in our next match, he'll be meeting Stan Hansen in the next round.
Match 6 - FCCW Title Tournament - 1st Round: Stan Hansen defeated Koko B. Ware in 2:32 with the Western Lariat. Match rating: ** 1/4
Hansen dominates B. Ware in this one. Koko didn't even have the slightest chance at any point in the match. An almost fresh Hansen moves on to face Bill Irwin with a pretty much effortless win over Koko B. Ware.
Match 7: The Rock 'n' Roll Express defeated California Connection when Morton beat Tatum with the Double Dropkick in 15:17. Match rating: ** 1/4
The Rock 'n' Roll Express came to FCCW to escape the unfounded hatred of Jim Cornette. Since Cornette followed them to FCCW they're going to have to deal with that here as well. If they continue to wrestle this way, that shouldn't be much of a problem though, as they showed that they've got heart, skills, and the support of fans in their hard fought victory over California Connection.
Match 8 - FCCW Title Tournament - Semi-finals: Kerry Von Erich defeated Bad News Brown in 12:13 with the Iron Claw. Match rating: **
Von Erich fought a grueling, but successful, match against Bad News Brown that leaves him in bad shape for the finals. He's still got 2 matches to rest before he's got to go on again, but if Hansen's next match is a short as his first, that won't mean much time at all, even if Duggan and Busick go for a decent length match.
Match 9 - FCCW Title Tournament - Semi-finals: Stan Hansen defeated Bill Irwin in 3:26 with the Western Lariat. Match rating: **
Hansen once again destroys the competition, this time it was Bill Irwin who fell in under 5 minutes to "The Beast from Borger". Hansen hardly looked fatigued as he left the ring to await his appearance in the finals where he'll face a significantly more beaten Kerry Von Erich.
Match 10: Big Bully Busick defeated Jim Duggan with the Stump-Puller in 4:22. After the match, Busick put his "victory cigar" out on Jim Duggan's back. Match rating: * 1/2

Fritz announces the finals: Fritz Von Erich announces that this will be the final match of the FCCW Title Tournament: Stan Hansen will face his son, Kerry Von Erich, for the FCCW Title. Rating: $$
Match 11 - FCCW Title Tournament - Finals: Stan Hansen defeated Kerry Von Erich in 15:34 with the Western Lariat. Match rating: ** 1/2 (Stan Hansen won the FCCW Title.)
Fritz Von Erich presents the title to Stan Hansen: Fritz Von Erich presents the FCCW Title to Stan Hansen. Hansen takes the title from Fritz, and then blasts him with the Western Lariat. A battered Kerry Von Erich tries to save his dad, but Hansen throws him out of the ring. Hansen holds the title up with one foot on the fallen legend. Rating: $$ 1/4
Stan Hansen and Kerry Von Erich had a great finals match, and even though Von Erich had a tough tournament overall, he still brought it to Hansen. Hansen was just too much for Von Erich though, and in the end, Stan Hansen hit the Western Lariat and pinned Kerry Von Erich to become the first FCCW Champion.
After the match, Fritz presented the belt to Hansen, only to become another victim, as Hansen nailed him with the Western Lariat as well. Kerry Von Erich was pretty upset, and tried to intervene, but he was in no shape to do anything about it.

Match 2: California Connection defeated Tito Santana & Jim Powers when Price beat Powers with the Double Superkick in 7:41. Match rating: * 1/2

Match 3: Dino Bravo defeated Jim Duggan with the Side Suplex in 10:03. Match rating: * 3/4

Rock 'n' Roll Express Jumped: The Rock 'n' Roll Express say that they're not impressed with Jim Cornette's Heavenly Bodies. Morton claims that they could wrestle them in circles with their eyes closed. Before Gibson can offer his statement on the lack of quality they perceive in the Heavenly Bodies, Cornette, Lane, and Prichard are out there in the interview area beating the Rock 'n' Roll Express down with what appear to be pipes.
After the beating, FCCW officials and medics remove Gibson and Morton from the arena in ambulances. Rating: $$ 1/2 Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson suffered serious injuries in the attack, doctors are unsure how long they'll be out of action.
Match 4: Bruiser Brody defeated Koko B. Ware with the Jumping Knee-drop in 12:06. Match rating: ** 1/4
Most people would have said that Koko B. Ware didn't stand a chance in this match, and ultimately they'd have been right, but he did put up a much stronger fight than anyone would have previously given him credit for. Brody eventually dropped the knee and that was all she wrote, but it wasn't a steamrolling like Brody expected it to be.
Chris Adams is appalled: Chris Adams is interviewed by Gordon Solie in the ringside area. He says that he's shocked and appalled at the actions and statements of Bad News Brown. He says that it's unprofessional, it's unsporting, and it's just unacceptable in this day and age. He promises the FCCW fans that he's going to whip a lesson into Bad News Brown before all is said and done. Rating: $$ 3/4
Match 5: Bad News Brown defeated Sam Houston with the Ghetto Blaster in 0:55. Match rating: ** 1/4
Sam Houston went to put his cowboy hat on some lucky kid, and Bad News attacked him from behind, threw him in the ring, and hit the Ghetto Blaster for the win. The kid was very upset.
Match 6: Chris Adams defeated Tom Prichard in 8:23 with the Superkick. Match rating: ** 1/4
Chris Adams gave the kid a free ticket to next month's show before the match, saying that Bad News was a bad guy. He then proceeded to make an example out of Tom Prichard before finally pinning him after hitting the Superkick.
Kerry Von Erich wants answers: Kerry Von Erich calls out Stan Hansen about his actions last month. Von Erich wants to know why Hansen attacked his retired father. Hansen heads to the ring, but instead of answers, all we get is a brawl.
It takes a handful of FCCW officials to break up the melee between Von Erich and Hansen. Von Erich finally gets back on the microphone and yells "NEXT TIME HANSEN! YOU AND ME! ONE ON ONE!" Hansen looks pleased with the opportunity and nods "yes" on his way back to the locker room. Rating: $$$

The Ghostriders pick up a nice win over Busick and Rose tonight. After the match Busick went to put his cigar out on the laid out Buddy Rose, but Sam Houston stopped him. Rock 'n' Roll Express Return: Jim Cornette is already talking about the lack of competition in FCCW and saying that he may have to take his team on the road to make any meaningful defenses of the tag belts. Gordon Solie asks Cornette about The Rock 'n' Roll Express, saying that they're due back anytime now...Cornette says he's not worried about them, there' no way they'll ever be 100% again after the beating they suffered.
Just then, Morton and Gibson come out in their street clothes. They look like they're ready to fight, but instead take a second to calm down, and get another microphone. They tell everyone that The Heavenly Bodies are only champs due to Cornette's underhanded tactics, and that even if the Rock 'n' Roll Express was only firing on 50% of what they're capable of, they'll still mop the floor with cheating losers like Prichard and Lane.
Cornette basically tells them to bring it, to which Gibson replies, next week, tag team titles on the line...we'll bring it. Rating: $$$
Match 3: Bad News Brown defeated Tito Santana in 12:58 with the Ghetto Blaster. Match rating: ** 1/2
Bad News isn't happy: Gordon Solie catches up with Bad News Brown after his match against Tito Santana. Brown says that Chris Adams way over stepped his boundaries last week when Adams called into question Brown's commitment. Brown says that the only thing he's committed to is himself. He will do what needs to be done to take care of Bad News Brown. Adams might have all this "moral high ground", but sometimes that doesn't put food on the table. Brown says that Chris Adams can starve himself with his pathetic noble attitude. Brown ends the interview by challenging Adams to a match next week. Rating: $$$ 1/4
Bad News Brown made easy work of Tito Santana, spending an inordinate amount to time smacking him around and calling out Chris Adams. He put him away with the Ghetto Blaster after Santana and been thoroughly embarrassed and beaten. It looks like Bad News Brown is finally fed up with Chris Adams. Adams has been fed up with Brown since day one, so there's a pretty good chance he'll accept the challenge laid down by Bad News.
Match 4: Dutch Mantel defeated Jim Duggan with the Dirty Driver in 7:30. Match rating: * 3/4

Chris Adams adds a stipulation to the match with Bad News Brown: Chris Adams is on his way out to the ring when he's stopped by Gordon Solie. Solie asks if Adams is going to accept the challenge of Bad News Brown? Adams says of course he is, and that not only is he going to accept it, he wants it to be a loser leaves town match. Adams explains that the FCCW isn't big enough for both of them, that their ideas about life are just too contrary, and that if they're both here, neither will be able to move on in their careers. Glad to see you getting some high match ratings. One of the things I was worried about with AWE was it being too tricky to get good match ratings, but this is putting my fears to rest. Plus, the build for Hansen vs. Von Erich is awesome. It's a match I wish I could do right now in GCW, but Josh is holding Von Erich hostage. Really like what you've been doing with Adams vs. Brown too.

Excellent, glad to see you're enjoying it. Von Erich vs. Hansen has been pretty fun so far, I'm glad it's working out the way it is. Adams and Brown has been my favorite though. This direction is much better than my original plan of having them team up as Chris Brown and only fighting women too.

FCCW - Live Event - 07-24-1986
Sportplex Santa Fe, New Mexico Thursday, July 24, 1986 1172 / 1250
Match 1: Dutch Mantel defeated Mike Rotunda with the Dirty Driver in 6:36. Match rating: * 3/4
"Dirty" Dutch Mantel uses his nasty Dirty Driver to pick up a win over the winless Mike Rotunda.
Bad News talks to Gordon Solie: Bad News Brown says he never agreed to no Loser Leaves Town match. He's claiming this is just another injustice forced upon him by the powers that be in the FCCW and Chris Adams, who has had it out for him since day one. He adds that he's no chicken though, and he'll take any match with anyone at anytime. Rating: $$$ 1/4
Solie asks Adams about the Browns accusations of injustice: Gordon Solie catches Chris Adams on the way down to his match and asks him what he thinks of Bad News Browns comments about injustice and Adams being out to get him. Adams responds that he's not out to get Brown, he's out to get anyone in FCCW who thinks that a selfish attitude is going to fly. FCCW has a ton of potential, and it needs team players, he says. Rating: $$ 3/4
Match 2 - Loser Leaves Town: Chris Adams defeated Bad News Brown in 17:31 with the Superkick.
After the match, Brown sulks off throwing his arms up and saying "I don't need this place anyway. Screw FCCW and Chris Adams." Match rating: *** 1/2
Bad News Brown is out of FCCW. Chris Adams and Brown had a very physical loser leaves town match, and when all was said and done, the Superkick outperformed the Ghetto Blaster. Bad News was as grumpy as ever as he headed back to the locker room for the final time.
Busick has a surprise for everyone: Big Bully Busick is at ringside with Gordon Solie. Gordon says that Busick has an announcement for everyone. Busick then grabs the microphone and says that tonight, he was scheduled for a one on one encounter with Sam Houston, but he thinks it would be much more interesting if he took on all 3 of the embarrassments he's been annoyed by over the past few months. He says he's got some friends in the back that have agreed to team with him later tonight if Buddy Rose and The Ghostriders want to have a 6 man tag team match. Rating: $$$
Interview with Dino Bravo: Bravo says that tonight, he's going to once again wow the crowd with his spectacular wrestling ability. He states that it's been abundantly clear who the best wrestler in FCCW is, and that he's ready to accept the fans acknowledgement of that fact. The fans are booing like crazy, it doesn't look like they agree. Rating: $$$
Match 3: Dino Bravo defeated Tito Santana in 12:39 with the Side Suplex.
Bravo stands over the beaten Santana and asks everyone to award him the standing ovation that he rightly deserves. Match rating: *** 1/4
Bravo is certainly letting the hype get to his head. It's no secret that FCCW fans have said that Dino Bravo consistently impresses them between the ropes, but his new-found ego is certainly rubbing most FCCW fans the wrong way. He had another impressive match tonight, and instead of just waving around his Quebecois flag, he instead stood over Santana with the flag over his shoulder and demanded that everyone give him a standing ovation for a "masterful performance". He insisted he would not leave until he got one, so FCCW officials, knowing that wouldn't happen, sent some security down to remove Mr. Bravo.
Match 4: Big Bully Busick & Demolition defeated Buddy Rose & The Ghostriders by countout when Wild Bill was counted out in 14:40. Match rating: *** 3/4
Demolition has arrived in FCCW! Big Bully Busick has brought in his friends Demolition to help him wipe out Buddy Rose and The Ghostriders. Demolition had an impressive first outing, and their manager, Mr. Fuji, got himself involved when he waffled Wild Bill with his cane causing him to get counted out.
The Heavenly Bodies and Jim Cornette speak: Cornette says that Rock 'n' Roll Express are simply fodder for a better team.
Solie asks Prichard if he's worried about the drive of the Rock 'n' Roll express to get revenge for the sneak attack a few months ago. Prichard says that they're the champs, they're at 100% and that they've got Cornette...they're a 'confecta' of excellence.
Solie mentioned that I think the word is 'trifecta'...and Cornette loses his patients for the interview and pulls his guys away. Rating: $$$ 1/2
The Rock 'n' Roll Express get an equalizer: Solie catches up to Rock 'n' Roll Express on their way down to the ring. He asks them if they're worried about being outnumbered, since Cornette is on the outside?
Morton responds, yeah, they're a bit concerned. They know how The Heavenly Bodies won the titles on the back of Jim Cornette's interference. They know they can't keep Cornette out of the match, and they know it could be very bad for them if he does manage to get himself involved.
As soon as Morton is finished voicing his concerns, Jim Powers steps out and says he'd be glad to accompany Rock 'n' Roll Express and keep Cornette in check. Rating: $$$ 1/2
Match 5 - 2 out of 3 Falls Match for the FCCW Tag Team Titles - 2 out of 3 falls match: The Rock 'n' Roll Express beat The Heavenly Bodies 2 falls to 1 in 34:39. *Gibson beat Lane with the Double Dropkick in 8:23. *Prichard beat Gibson after Jim Cornette hit him with Tennis Racket in 20:23. *Morton beat Lane with the Double Dropkick in 34:39. Match rating: *** 3/4 (The Rock 'n' Roll Express won the FCCW Tag Team Titles)
Jim Powers did a great job of keeping Cornette out of the match, mostly. Cornette did manage to win his team one fall, but directly after the attack, Powers picked him up over his shoulder and carried him kicking and screaming to the locker room and that was the last we heard from either Powers or Cornette during this one. Without Cornette down there to influence the outcome, The Rock 'n' Roll Express put The Heavenly Bodies away for the final fall to become the NEW FCCW Tag Team Champions!
Winner gets an FCCW Title shot next month: Jim Powers won a battle royal in 31:25. - Jim Duggan eliminated Rod Price at 6:05. - Jim Powers eliminated Jim Duggan at 11:06. - Jim Powers eliminated Koko B. Ware at 17:10. - John Tatum eliminated Bruiser Brody at 25:19. - Jim Powers eliminated John Tatum at 31:25.
Match rating: ***
Powers definitely helped The Rock 'n' Roll Express win the tag titles when he kept Jim Cornette from getting involved, but his biggest accomplishment of the night came when he won a 6 man battle royal to determine who was going to face the winner of Stan Hansen vs. Kerry Von Erich for the FCCW Title next month.
Match 6 - Cage Match for the FCCW Title: Stan Hansen defeated Kerry Von Erich in 23:31 with the Western Lariat. Match rating: **** 3/4 (Stan Hansen retained the FCCW Title.)
A horribly bloody affair that saw both men lose buckets of blood. In the end Hansen caught Von Erich with a Western Lariat for the 3 count to retain the FCCW Title. That means that next month, Stan Hansen will defend against Jim Powers.
Overall card rating: *** 3/4

Excellent, glad to see you're enjoying it. Von Erich vs. Hansen has been pretty fun so far, I'm glad it's working out the way it is. Adams and Brown has been my favorite though. This direction is much better than my original plan of having them team up as Chris Brown and only fighting women too. I love this joke more than I will love my future children.

Brown too. Von Erichs want nothing to do with you. Not after you jobbed them out to Zbyszko. Good job on this circuit, Carlzilla. The added benefit is that we also get more of the AWE sim showcased.

Loving the push for Dino Bravo. Not loving the push of Jim Powers. 50/50...not bad. Not sure if I'd call the Power's push a real push. Sure, I picked him to be the equalizer in the tag team match, but that was because I figured he'd have nothing else to do if I didn't. I never expected him to win the battle royal. I'm going to run with it though.

FCCW - Live Event - 08-21-1986
Sportplex Santa Fe, New Mexico Thursday, August 21, 1986 736 / 1250
Gino Hernandez arrives in FCCW: Gordon Solie stops Gino Hernandez on his way to the ring. Hernandez tells the fans that he's the real deal. The ladies, the money, the talent, the cars...he's got it all, and he's here to add the only other thing that he wants to his collection, the FCCW Title. He says that everything else has come easy for such a good looking guy, and he doesn't expect this to be any different. Solie reminds Hernandez that Stan Hansen is probably not going to care too much about his opponents looks...Hernandez, not missing a beat, says then I'll beat him with talent. Rating: $$ ½
Match 1: Gino Hernandez defeated Koko B. Ware with a schoolboy in 11:14. Match rating: ** ¾
Gino Hernandez, cocky as ever, has arrived in FCCW. He's already looking to the gold, and with the way he handled Koko B. Ware tonight, there's not a lot of reason for him not to be. Hernandez could have pinned him in any fashion he wanted by the 9 minute mark or so, but he chose a simple schoolboy to embarrass the obviously outclassed B. Ware.
Match 2: The Ghostriders & Demolition were both disqualified in 9:39 when both teams start brawling wildly and the referee loses control of the match. Match rating: ¾ *
When Busick brought in Demolition last month, we knew it was going to spell bad news for the FCCW Tag Team Division. These guys are big, nasty, and aren't afraid to break the rules. The Ghostriders got a crack at them in a regular tag team match this month, and that willingness to break the rules led to the match being thrown out. The Ghostriders are no strangers to doing what needs to be done, and so when Demolition started the brawl, Irwin and Houston were only too happy to oblige.
Gordon Solie finds Jim Powers Backstage: Solie wants to talk to Powers about his title match later tonight. Powers says it's an honor to even be considered for a title shot. He says that Hansen is a beast of a man, and that win, lose, or draw, he's going to give it everything he's got. Rating: $$$
Match 3: Buddy Rose defeated Big Bully Busick in 9:51 with a schoolboy as Busick was trying to light his cigar to burn a battered Rose. Match rating: ** ¼
Busick loses his temper: Rose scurried out of the ring after defeating Busick, who is livid at having lost the match. He says the next time he faces Buddy Rose, he's going to put him in the burn unit. Rating: $$ ¾
It looked like Big Bully Busick had another match against Buddy Rose won, but then Rose, who had suffered a terrible beatdown all match, was able to roll over to the preoccupied Busick and roll him up for the win. Rose knew he had to get out of there, so he took off, leaving a steaming Big Bully Busick to lob horrible threats at Buddy Rose.
Match 4: Dino Bravo defeated Mike Rotunda in 13:05 with the Side Suplex. After the match Dino Bravo once again demanded he be given a standing ovation for his amazing in ring feats. Match rating: ***
Bravo certainly isn't suffering from a lack of confidence. He finishes off the winless Mike Rotunda easy enough, and the match was good, but Bravo continues to rub the fans the wrong way with his pompous attitude. This time he's pelted with drinks from the unappreciative fans. Finally, after several minutes of demanding the ovation, FCCW officials force Bravo to leave the ring.
FCCW Champion Stan Hansen speaks: Gordon Solie brings Stan Hansen out to the interview area and asks him how he's preparing for his match with Jim Powers later tonight. Hansen bluntly answers that he's not. He says Powers got lucky and won a match in which he didn't even have to score a pinfall. Hansen says anyone can throw people over the top rope, it happens in damn near every match, But in this match, Powers is a peasant who has to slay a beast, and that beast isn't too keen on giving up his gold. Rating: $$ ¾
Match 5 - FCCW Tag Team Title Match: The Rock 'n' Roll Express defeated California Connection in 18:10 when Morton pinned Price after the Double Dropkick. Match rating: **** (The Rock 'n' Roll Express retained the FCCW Tag Team Titles.)
An excellent tag team match in which the Rock 'n' Roll Express manage, just barely, to retain their FCCW Tag Team Titles.
Match 6: Bruiser Brody defeated Tito Santana with the Jumping Knee-drop in 3:51. Match rating: *** ½
Brody makes short work of Tito Santana. There aren't many guys on the roster who Brody can't make short work of though.
Chris Adams talks to Gordon Solie: Solie catches Chris Adams on his way to the ring. Adams says that now that Bad News is gone, another guy with a terrible attitude has caught his attention. He calls out Dutch Mantel for many of the same issues he had with Bad News Brown. Tonight, Adams says, he's going to adjust the attitude of Dutch Mantel. Rating: $$ ¾
Match 7: Dutch Mantel defeated Chris Adams in 14:12 with the Dirty Driver. Match rating: ** ¾
Dutch Mantel keeps the attacking Adams after the bell: Dutch Mantel continues to attack "Gentleman" Chris Adams after the bell, laying in countless stomps and kicks to the fallen Adams. Mantel is finally pulled off by FCCW officials. He spits on Adams before leaving the ring. Rating: $$$
Chris Adams might have gotten a bit too zealous in his quest to rid FCCW of undesirables, as Dutch Mantel put him squarely in his place tonight. Adams is sure to get indignant about being spit on, so I doubt if this is over.
Match 8 - FCCW Title Match: Stan Hansen defeated Jim Powers with the Western Lariat in 14:35. Match rating: ** (Stan Hansen retained the FCCW Title.)
Powers put up more of a fight than anyone thought he was going to, taking the champion to almost 15 minutes of solid wrestling action. He never really looked like he had much of a chance to win though. He spent the entire match on the defensive, and the closest he came to a win was when Hansen spent too much time outside the ring berating a fan and almost got counted out. Hansen finally turned on "beast mode" and it was all over for Powers. The Western Lariat nearly decapitates him and he's unable to kick out.
Overall card rating: ** ¾

Jim Duggan, who was working with upstart promotion Four Corners Championship Wrestling has found himself in jail after crashing his car into a front yard. When police got there Duggan was passed out in the car, and he was well above the legal limit. FCCW could not be reached for a comment, but Duggan said that FCCW has released him from his contract. He's got no set plans, but he said he's got several offers from nearby Texas promotions.
FCCW has been running shows in Santa Fe, New Mexico for the last 6 months. Using an old gymnasium that they've converted into a wrestling centric arena, capable of seating 1250, they call The Sportplex. Currently they are only running one show a month, using names like Stan Hansen, Chris Adams, The Rock 'n' Roll Express.

Steve Keirn talks bout his debut match.: Gordon Solie catches Keirn and Cornette on their way back to the dressing room. Keirn says that he watched Jim Powers in a championship match last month, and if this is the caliber of wrestler fighting for the title here in FCCW, he'll have no trouble getting to the top of the heap here. Cornette says that Powers probably got lucky, but even so, Keirn should have no trouble here. Rating: $$ ¾
Steve Keirn makes a successful debut in FCCW with a victory over Jim Powers. Keirn and Cornette had words for the wrestlers of FCCW afterwards.

After the match: Busick burns B. Ware several times, and lays the boots to him pretty heavily.
Buddy Rose runs out to make the save. He runs Busick off with a chair and helps Koko to the back. Rating: $$$ ½
Koko B. Ware might have gotten the win, but he got beaten silly for it. Busick beat him all over the ring, and then got disqualified when he burned Koko B. Ware with his cigar. Buddy Rose came out to save Koko and cleared Busick out by brandishing a chair.
Match 3: Dino Bravo defeated Tito Santana in 13:10 with the Side Suplex. Match rating: ***
After the match: Bravo stands in the ring over the fallen Santana for several minutes demanding the fans give him his due. He's screaming at them that his match was a classic, and that they'll never see any better. He demands a standing ovation. Eventually FCCW officials get him out of the ring. Rating: $$ ¼
Dino Bravo has another good match against Tito Santana, and once again completely overrates his performance. He demands a standing ovation for a few minutes until he's forcibly removed from the ring.
Demolition speaks: Demolition, with their Manager, Mr. Fuji, talk to Gordon Solie about how Demolition is just going to steam roll the tag team division here in FCCW. They make numerous references to demolishing their future opponents. Rating: $$ ¼
Match 4: Bruiser Brody vs. Mike Rotunda The referee threw the match out when Bruiser Brody suffered a broken neck. Doctors are saying it's career ending.
Brody went for a diving kneedrop, and fell badly from the top rope. He did not land safely. FCCW wishes Brody the best, and our thoughts go out to his family during this trying time.
Match 5: Gino Hernandez defeated John Tatum with the Dead Duck Elbow Drop in 11:26. Match rating: * ¾
Gino Hernandez picks up a win over one half of the California Connection. Hernandez looked great out there, but Tatum showed exactly why he's a tag team wrestler.
Match 6: Dutch Mantel defeated Buddy Rose with the Scoop Slam Piledriver in 7:28. Match rating: ** ¼
Dutch Mantel continues his winning ways against Buddy Rose.
Chris Adams has something to say before his match: Chris Adams makes his way over to the interview area before his match. He tells Gordon Solie that it was an insult, and outrage, and a travesty of justice that a guy like Dutch Mantel was allowed into FCCW. He says the even bigger travesty of justice was when Mantel spit on him....
Adams is noticeably loosing his composure by this point. He takes a deep breath and excuses himself to his match. Rating: $$$
Match 7: Chris Adams defeated Rod Price with the Superkick in 13:25. Match rating: ** ¾
After the match: Chris Adams parades the bloody and severely beaten Rod Price around the ring yelling that this is what he was going to do to Mantel when he gets his hands on him. The fans seemed shocked. Rating: $$ ½
Chris Adams lost his temper during the interview, and then again during his match with "Rugged" Rod Price. He dragged the bloodied Price around the ring, telling fans that he' was going to do the same thing to Dutch Mantel. The fans are visibly shaken by this display of viciousness from Chris Adams.

FCCW - Live Event - 10-16-1986
Sportplex Santa Fe, New Mexico Thursday, October 16, 1986 500 / 1250
Match 1: Dino Bravo defeated Manny Fernandez in 11:27 with the Side Suplex. Match rating: ** ¾
After the match: Dino Bravo stands over the fallen Manny Fernandez and demands a standing ovation once again. Fans pelt him with trash but he refused to leave until he gets his ovation. Eventually, as is becoming the custom, FCCW security removes Bravo from the ring. Rating: $$ ¼
You'd think that after several months of Bravo's demands and refusal to leave the ring they'd have people on hand for his matches, but no, it took FCCW security a full 5 minutes to scramble together and remove Bravo from the ring.
Match 2: Steve Keirn & The Heavenly Bodies defeated Mike Rotunda, Tito Santana, & Koko B. Ware in 15:27 when Keirn pinned Rotunda after the Inverted DDT. Match rating: *** ½

Match 4: Smash defeated Sam Houston in 10:15 with the backbreaker. Match rating: ** ½
Smash defeated Sam Houston in a one-on-one encounter. Their partners will face off later tonight.
The Blackjacks are here...: The Blackjacks tell Gordon Solie that they aren't making a permanent home here in FCCW. The fans aren't pleased with that statement and boo them pretty hard. They say that they've been sent by Fritz Von Erich to bring FCCW gold back to Texas to take revenge on FCCW for the way they treated him. They say they're here to take on The Rock 'n' Roll Express.
Gibson and Morton come out and say they're more than willing to defend the titles. The fans go nuts. It looks like we've got ourselves in impromptu tag title match. Rating: $$ ¼
Match 5 - FCCW Tag Team Title Match: The Rock 'n' Roll Express defeated The Blackjacks in 20:35 when Gibson pinned Lanza after a double missile dropkick. Match rating: ** ½ (The Rock 'n' Roll Express retained the FCCW Tag Team Titles.)
FCCW fans have probably forgotten all about Fritz Von Erich's unfortunate time here in the primordial stages of the company, but Fritz hasn't. He sent some nasty brawlers to try to humiliate the FCCW. Fortunately, Gibson and Morton are more than capable tag team champions, and they were able to defend their belts against the interlopers.
Match 6: Bill Irwin defeated Ax in 10:15 with the Float Kick. Match rating: ** ¼
After the match: After Irwin puts Ax down, Smash and Houston come running to ringside. The 4 men spend the next few minutes in a vicious brawl that sees the use of anything that isn't nailed down as a weapon. Rating: $$$ ¼

Match 8: Gino Hernandez defeated Chris Adams in 13:23 with a roll-up.
During the match, Dutch Mantel came to ringside with a spittoon. He kept distracting Adams by spitting his chaw into the spittoon, which caused a great deal of annoyance in Adams. Match rating: ****
Gino Hernandez picks up a win over "Gentleman" Chris Adams, with the unintentional help of Dutch Mantel. Mantel. Mantel, knowing how worked up Adams has been about being spit on, decided to bring a spittoon down to ringside and just sit there spitting into it. This was enough to seriously distract Adams, who ended up getting rolled-up by Hernandez.

One Man Gang made his debut tonight, and he crushed, quite literally, Mike Rotunda with his patented 747 Splash.
Match 2: Dino Bravo defeated Bill Irwin in 12:15 with the Side Suplex. Match rating: ***
After the match: Bravo once again stands over his fallen opponent, with one foot on their chest, and demands a standing ovation. When the fans don't give it to him he starts kicking and stomping Irwin.
Eventually FCCW Security come to remove Bravo from the ring. The fans pelt him with trash all the way back to the locker room. Rating: $$ ¼
Dino Bravo was able to put down Bill Irwin after a hard fought match, and once again made an ass out of himself demanding a standing ovation for his efforts. This time, instead of throwing trash on him while he was in the ring, causing a delay, the fans waited for him to head back to the locker room before showering him with garbage.
Match 3: Sam Houston defeated Big Bully Busick in 7:40 when Big Bully Busick is disqualified for burning Houston with his cigar. Match rating: ** ¾
After the match: Buddy Rose comes sailing down the aisle chair in hand. Busick makes a hasty retreat, and Rose helps Houston to the back. Rating: $$ ¾

Match 4: California Connection defeated Tito Santana & Buddy Rose in 13:23 when Tatum pins Santana after the double superkick. Match rating: *** ½
Rose was in the next match as well, teaming with Tito Santana, to unsuccessfully face California Connection. Tatum picks up the pinfall on Santana after the double superkick.
Chris Adams has had enough: "Gentleman" Chris Adams heads to the interview area. He says he's had enough of Dutch Mantel's dirty games. Last time out, Mantel cost him a big match, and that's not going to sit with him. He challenges Mantel to a match-up later tonight. Rating: $$ ¾
Demolition issue a challenge: Demolition head to the interview area before their match. Gordon Solie meets them there.
Demolition say they're sick of getting nothing settled. They want The Ghostriders without any of the FCCW security wimps getting involved. They challenge Irwin and Houston to a No-DQ, No-Countout anything goes match.
They then excuse themselves and head to the ring for their match. Rating: $$$
Match 5: Demolition defeated Jim Powers & Koko B. Ware in 8:25 with the Demolition Decapitation. Match rating: ****

"Stylish" Steve Keirn continues his winning ways tonight, picking up a win over Manny Fernandez.
The Heavenly Bodies speak: Solie is in the interview area with The Heavenly Bodies.
They talk about taking back the tag team titles. Cornette says that his goal is still to put The Rock 'n' Roll Express out of action for good.
Lane concludes the interview by saying how it was great to team with someone like Keirn last week, someone who know how to get the job done. Rating: $$ ¼
Match 7: Dutch Mantel defeated Chris Adams in 11:35 by disqualification when Chris Adams refuses to break a blatant choke. Match rating: ****
Chris Adams went absolutely ballistic at around the 11 minute mark when Mantel spit on him. He began to choke Mantel, refusing to let go, and shoving the referee when he began to count. Mantel finally got himself out of the ring and away from the irate Adams when Adams began to scream and threaten the referee.
Just when the fans thought it was over...: Hansen hits the interview area and makes an open challenge for this FCCW Title. He says he's sick of sitting around waiting for the FCCW championship committee to give him an opponent, and he's taking things into his own hands. Rating: $$$
Match 8 - FCCW Title Match: Stan Hansen defeated Robert Gibson with the Western Lariat in 15:44. Match rating: ** ½ (Stan Hansen retained the FCCW Title.)
Hansen is apparently sick of not wrestling while the FCCW Championship Committee makes up their minds as to who the number one challenger is, and issued an open challenge. Robert Gibson, one half of the FCCW Tag Team Champions answered that challenge and got put in his place. Even with Ricky Morton out there for support, Hansen was just too much.

Dino Bravo is just so much fun here.
Lots of high ratings here. Surprised Demolition could pull that out of Jim Powers with Koko's help.
Liked the violent side of Adams showing. A rematch with Mantel in some sort of No-DQ setting could be a lot of fun.
Hansen/Gibson is a match that I figured could draw out a higher rating. Would have been a great underdog style match. Hansen is a perfect dominant champion for this era.

FCCW - Live Event - 12-11-1986:
Sportplex Santa Fe, New Mexico Thursday, December 11, 1986 843 / 1250
Mike Rotunda has words for Dino Bravo: Rotunda hits the interview area on his way to the ring for his match. He tells Gordon Solie that he's so sick of Dino Bravo running his mouth and wasting everyone's time after his matches. He says that he knows he's been having some trouble in FCCW, but even so, he's more deserving of a standing ovation than Dino Bravo. Rating: $$$
Match 1: Steve Keirn defeated Mike Rotunda in 10:15 with the Inverted DDT. Match rating: *** ¼
Keirn dominated Rotunda, who is still without a victory in FCCW. Rotunda did however, endear himself to the fans by calling out Dino Bravo's egotistical actions for the past few months.
Match 2: One Man Gang & Big Bully Busick defeated Tito Santana & Koko B. Ware in 12:04 when Busick pinned B. Ware after burning him with the cigar. Match rating: *** ¾
Busick and One Man Gang pick up the win when Santana inadvertently distracts the ref, allowing Busick to burn B. Ware with the cigar.
Buddy Rose challenges Busick: After stopping Busick from attacking B, Ware or Santana further, Buddy Rose gets a microphone. He challenges Busick to a "Deep Burn" match, though what that is, we're left to guess. Busick doesn't seem to care that he has no idea what a "deep burn" match is, and agrees just to get his chance to beat down Buddy Rose once and for all. Rating: $$ ¼
Buddy Rose soared to ringside to stop Busick and Gang from doing anymore damage, after he'd cleared them out he challenged Busick to a mysterious "Deep Burn" match.
The Heavenly Bodies speak: The Heavenly Bodies and Jim Cornette talk about laying the hurt down on The Ghostriders tonight. Rating: $$$ ¼
The Ghostriders need to make up their mind: Solie catches The Ghostriders on the way down to the ring, he asks if they have any words about the No-DQ, No-Countout challenge that Demolition issued on the last card. They say they haven't put any real thought into it, and that they've been gearing up for tonight's match. Demolition appear out of nowhere and attack The Ghostriders. They finally separate and The Ghostriders accept the match.
This blindside attack by Demolition has to give The Heavenly Bodies the upper hand tonight though. Rating: $$$ ¼
Match 3: The Ghostriders defeated The Heavenly Bodies in 12:39 when Irwin pins Prichard after the Float Kick. Match rating: **
Even with the blindside by Demolition, which we're still not sure if it was facilitated by Cornette or an independent action by Fuji and his men, The Heavenly Bodies couldn't get the job done. To be fair, Irwin's Float Kick can come out of nowhere, which is exactly what happened tonight.
Disagreements in Heaven: Lane is livid that Prichard lost the match. Cornette is trying to keep the peace, but he's having a hard time. Finally as it looks like it's about to turn into a fight, Cornette finally manages to talk some sense into Stan Lane. Cornette reveals that he managed to get the team a title shot next week, but it only applies if they're still a team. Rating: $$ ½
Lane couldn't believe it. Even with the battered team, Prichard couldn't hold his own. It almost comes to blows, but Cornette drops a bomb about a title shot next month to keep things together.
Match 4: Dino Bravo defeated Manny Fernandez in 12:07 with the Side Suplex. Match rating: ***
Bravo calls Rotunda out.: Bravo refuses to leave until not only the fans, but Mike Rotunda as well, gives him a standing ovation. Rotunda comes back out and challenges him to a match next month. Dino Bravo accepts. Rating: $$ ¼

Solie tries to interview Dutch Mantel: Gordon Solie tries to have some words with Dutch Mantel about his harassing of Chris Adams. Mantel doesn't say a word, he simply makes indecisive gestures and spits into his spitoon.
He's eventually attacked from behind by an irate Chris Adams. Before too much damage is done, Gino Hernandez comes out and stop Adams from attacking Mantel any further. Mantel takes off, not wanting to deal with the possibility of facing them both down, and Adams apologizes to his fans for his recent actions, saying they are very unbecoming of a "gentleman". He excuses himself for his match.
Hernandez says he's going to talk to Dutch about setting up a match to settle this once and for all. Rating: $$$ ¼
Match 5: Chris Adams defeated John Tatum in 6:22 with the Superkick. Match rating: *** ¼
Adams' temper is becoming a problem for him in FCCW. Dutch Mantel just knows how to push all the right buttons. We'll see if Gino can deliver a match for next month. Adams manages to win his match against John Tatum without blowing his top, so maybe Hernandez's intervention was exactly what Adams needed to keep it all in focus.
Overall card rating: ***
Next Month: FCCW Title Match: Stan Hansen (c) vs. ? - Fritz Von Erich has promised to send someone over from WCCW to strip FCCW of it's title. FCCW Tag Title Match: The Rock 'n' Roll Express (c) vs. The Heavenly Bodies - If the Heavenly Bodies can remain together for the next month... Deep Burn Match: Big Bully Busick vs. Buddy Rose - We still have no idea what a deep burn match is. No-DQ, No Countout, Anything Goes Match: Demolition vs. The Ghost Riders - Should be a blood bath. Mike Rotunda vs. Dino Bravo - Rotunda is looking for his first win, Bravo is looking for the respect he feels he deserves (plus a whole lot more).
Plus a possibility of Dutch Mantel vs. Chris Adams if Gino Hernandez can broker it.
All this plus more!
