I haven't done anything with TNM (or AWE) for awhile, but having moved all my files over to a new computer I was checking where I left off. One of the things I wanted to do was reboot my old fantasy wrestler universe (originally started way back in 1999, real time, and dabbled with ever since). Since I'm now on Windows 7 and starting fresh anyway I should start moving over to AWE, but before that was a think I had started a roster and created the first card. Maybe I'll pick this up again during the summer (Florida heat isn't going to encourage me to spend much time outdoors), but here is the first card for the heck of it. The circuit is "AOW" but I forget what it was supposed to stand for. I think my idea was to start it out as "Awesome Orlando Wrestling" then change it to "Atlantic Outstanding Wrestling" as the circuit got bigger.
AOW Inaugural Show

AIRBORNE EXPRESS vs THE CROSS-BORDER COWBOYS
The Express are a couple of young indy flyers: Jumpin' Jack Flash and Flyin' Tony Ryan. The Cowboys are from Calgary and Texas respectively; Hurt is more a technical wrestler and Dart is more of a brawler. The two teams kicked off the show with a hell of a match. Lots of tagging and teamwork. Hurt got Ryan in the Double Leg Lasso Lockup, but the plucky youngster wouldn't quit. He managed to get to the ropes, but made the mistake of not tagging out. He took to long going up for an aerial move, allowing Bret to crotch him on the top rope and superplex him. Hot tag to Dart who finishes with a Hotshot.
The Cross-Border Cowboys (Bret Hurt and Steve Dart) defeated Airborne Express (Jack Flash and Tony Ryan) when Dart pinned Ryan with the Dartgun in 0:08:33.

ARTHUR BYRD vs THE MIGHTY TOR
Ever seen "Plan Nine From Outer Space"? Remember the fat cop who looked like a non-hairy George Steele that got turned into a zombie? Byrd is a random Canadian. Byrd hits some moves, but Tor no-sells everything and crumbles Byrd to the mat with a big double smash to the shoulders and sits on him for the easy pin.
The Mighty Tor pinned Arthur Byrd with the Tor Smash in 0:01:12.

PROMO
A young Colonel Sanders lookalike comes to the ring with a blackboard. He introduces himself as Dr. Gerald Punch (but we can cally him "Dr. Gerry"), Professor of Punchology. Punch proceeds to lecture the audience about his doctoral thesis, PHD: Punch + Heart = Defeat. Crowd seems bored. Punch's lecture is interrupted by a muscular black guy with a mohawk and gold neck chains. He speaks in the third person, refering to himself as "Mista B", and runs down Punch by refering to him repeated as "Fool" and says he don't need no science to kick ass. Punch retrots with the classic "smash the blackboard over your opponent's ahead" arguement and fisticuffs ensue, but security quickly arrives to pull the two apart. Mister B aka B.A. Brakkas challenges Punch to a match and Punch agrees...for the next show!
"BIG NASTY" OTTO WARD vs "THE BROOKLYN BRAWLER" PETE BRENNER
Ward gets introduced first and he's just some generic fat German guy. Then "No Sleep Till Brooklyn" hits and that wakes up the crowd. Pete Brenner introduces himself as the baddest man to every come out of Brooklyn and he's here to kick ass and chew bubblegum, but he's fresh out of gum.
Brenner goes on the attack, but Ward uses a cheap shot to take control and goes through some typical power offense and lots of choking, but Ward can't finish him off. Slam and a legdrop, but Ward is no Hulk Hogan. Slam and a sitdown splash, but Ward is no Earthquake. BELLY-to-belly suplex sets up the Big Splash, but Brenner rolls out of the way. Brenner lives up to his nickname, unloading with closed fists (which are legal in AOW) and knocking Ward out cold with a big roundhouse right.
Pete Brenner pinned Otto Ward after a roundhouse punch in 0:06:59.

BONESAW McGRAW vs "IRONMAN" JAMES BONHAM
James Bonham comes out to "Stranglehold" and cuts a promo about being trained by one of the best wrestling families in Texas. Bonesaw McGraw retorts that the family that trained Bonham area bunch of worthless alcoholics and he's going to break Bonham's bones. Because he's Bonesaw McGraw, oh yeah!!!
Good hard match that sometimes spilled out of the ring. Bonham has some technical wrestling skills while Bonesaw is all power and no finesse. He clearly means business about being here to break people, hitting a piledriver and not even trying a pinfall. Bonham blocks a suplex and hits one of his own, but gets cradled attempting the Texas Cloverleaf. Iron Claw applied, but Bonesaw powers out and hammers away. Two piledrivers and McGraw finally makes a cover and gets the pin. Just to be a dick, he drops the Bonesaw Elbow on Bonham after the match.
Bonesaw McGraw pinned James Bonham after a piledriver in 0:12:26.

GENERAL STOLJAROV vs POWER
Stoljarov is a big nasty Russian. He cuts a promo in which he promes that, despite the end of Cold War, Mother Russia is stronger than ever and he is here to crush Yankee dogs. Power looks like he walked off the set of American Gladiators. Just a big squash for Stoljaraov, who practically takes Power's head off with a huge lariat.
General Stoljarov pinned Power with the Russian Sickle in 0:03:13.

"JAMMIN'" JIMMY BLAST vs "MEAN DEAN" RIC RUDD
Jimmy Blast is the most experienced wrestler in AOW, having already been in major promotions for a decade and having been in some legendary fueds and matches. He wants to talk about respect. He doesn't get to say much when out comes Ric Rudd with a yardstick. Rudd has no respect for Blast: he's outdated, undereducated, and ugly. Blast doesn't measure up to Rudd's standards of excellence and he is going to personally see to it that Rudd is expelled from AOW.
Big brawl to start. Rudd makes the mistake of trying to show off his chops, but nobody throws chops like Blast. Slingshot suplex sets up the Figure Four, but Rudd blocks it and gets the Explusion (inverted facelock elbowdrop) for two. Lots of blocked moves and reversals. Power bomb gets two for Rudd. Superplex gets two. DDT gets two for Blast. Gourdbuster gets two as well. They brawl on the floor and the crowd is getting rabid. Back in the ring, Rudd goes for a powerbomb, but Blast backdrops out, accidently taking out the referee in the process. (First AOW ref bump!). Gourdbuster, but there's no ref! Ref recovers to count 2 1/2. Crowd is livid. Figure Four is successful this time, but Rudd gets to the ropes. Sleeper is broken up with a jawbreaker by Rudd. Rudimentary Ending (neckbreaker)...for two! Time limit is reached, but Blast wants to continue! The referee agrees, but while he's signaling the timekeeper Rudd sneaks in a vicious low blow and a DDT for the three count! Crowd isn't happy about that.
Ric Rudd pinned Jimmy Blast after a DDT in 0:20:26.
Rating: *** 3/4
NOTES
My fantasy wrestler database is a mix of original characters, wrestlers created by others, e-wrestlers I saw back in the late 90s when I was involved in that for a little while, and regimmicked real wrestlers. The Cowboys are essentially Bret Hart (using a cowboy gimmick Bret references in his autobiography and which someone else on here already used before) and an old e-wrestling character who is a mix of Shawn Michaels and Steve Austin. Bonesaw McGraw is Randy Savage doing his gimmick from Spiderman. Jimmy Blast is a mix of Ric Flair and Arn Anderson. Ric Rudd is Rick Rude doing his own version of the Dean Douglas gimmick.
