I'm working on starting a fantasy circuit but for some reason some of my entrance themes will NOT play when I run them in a practice circuit, nor will them play when I select "play entrance" The player opens, but I get DEAD SILENCE. To make sure it wasn't the MP3, I tested them in both VLC and Windows Media player and they play just fine.
I don't get any error messages at all, just NO SOUND on certain MP3s, despite the fact that I tested them all on various players after getting no volume at all on the player built into the plugin, and can hear them just fine in VLC and WMP

I managed to fix the problem myself by using an audio extractor program to create a "duplicate" of the song, then erased the original and renamed the duplicate to the old file name, and now it works. Weird.

That's not weird at all and makes sense as soon as you know this:
Windows Media Player and VLC have their own MP3 decoders which - and this is the key part - ignore errors in the MP3 tags.
Windows itself - and its Multimedia Control Interface library - nope out as soon as there is an error in any of the tags.
By using the audio extractor to create a duplicate, you stripped out the bogus tags.
Another way of doing this (and perhaps automating it) is by running the Entrance Music Wizard plugin which can scan your databases for bad themes. It isn't able to repair every possible error scenario but it catches all and repairs most.

And I already knew/forgotten about false tags. The irony, is that I have mp3tag on my PC and never even thought of using it. I guess that's why a lot of my themes were reverted to "other" as the genre for the music
