Yeah.
Apparently he's the best wrestler ever according to the internet now, though...

Eh, they're going to say stuff like that when someone retires.
But, I will admit, I was actually quite sad when I watched Raw last night. I probably wasn't the biggest Edge fan, but he was a least entertaining.

...I wonder how long ago he planned this and when he let WWE in on it; should he have put over Del Rio @ Wrestlemania?...

Everything's pointing to this being legit, so, while not the BIGGEST Edge-head, it does suck to see a Main Event, still very much in his prime, have to leave the ring.

...I wonder how long ago he planned this and when he let WWE in on it; should he have put over Del Rio @ Wrestlemania?... I believe the plan was to put Del Rio over, because they didn't know Edge's diagnosis until the event. They may have let Edge keep the belt, so he could go out on top. So, all signs probably point to Christian vs. Del Rio for the vacant title in the near future...

In fact, Christian vs Del Rio in the Ladder match is the new match for Extreme Rules.
I agree that he went over Del Rio so he could finally get a World Title win at Mania, since they knew he was having the MRI Monday.
Not the biggest Edgehead or anything neither, though I never hated him. He sufficed for me as a main eventer--stale at times? Definitely. Much better as a heel, but I didn't hate him.

Theory I read is that Edge was knowingly allowed to go out on top by WWE essentially as a reward/thanks for being a loyal and hard worker.
