Anyone do a circuit with a Jr. title that has a strict weight limit? Just wondering how it turned out.
If I can ever finish my 2003 USWA season, I'll be changing up my titles a bit and trying to figure out which way I want to go with it.

GCW is adding a Jr. Heavyweight Title in 1982. It'll be my first experience with a strict weight limit in a long, long time. We'll see how well it goes.
I'm thinking about putting the weight limit at 225. Does that seem high or low?

225 seems a tad high. I'd say 215, but if you look at the wrestlers weights it can be very limited.
I've know by the end of my year I'm unifying my titles, and probably bringing back a TV title. The X-Division title of mine might turn into a legit jr. title after.
I think i decided against the 6 man tags. I just think 6 man and tags in the same fed don't make sense.

I think WWF used 225 and WCW used 235 for their weight limits, but that number was always a little fuzzy.
I think it depends on your circuit: if you have alot of big guys of around 280-300 lbs, 235 might be good. On the other, if your circuit is more "normal" sized in the 240-250 lbs range then a lower weight limit like 215 might be better.
For perspective: Bret Hart was around 235 and Shawn Michaels around 225.
I'm be interested to see GCW's Junior Heavyweight division as it doesn't seem like you have many guys who qualify yet.

I'm always hesitant to do something that defines a title around a certain weight limit or style of wrestling. It makes it feel like those wrestlers will never be able to contend with the bigger guys. The same can be said about a Hardcore Title. If anybody is going to be able to pull this off, however, it will be Ryan.

In 1982 I think 225 is appropriate. There really weren't many guys under that weight anyway.
A note on Joshi's comment; NJPW did something cool with Jushin Thunder Liger when he was the top lightweight. They made a HUGE deal about him going after the Heavyweight title. He went so far as to have a whole different look when wrestling in the larger division.
I've ALWAYS made my top titles either "FED NAME Championship" or "World Championship" to avoid labeling it Heavyweight for the very reason that anyone should be able to contend. WWE is kind of mocking the label "Heavyweight" with Bryan's run as he ALWAYS emphasizes "Heavyweight" when doing promos and he's been wrestling guys like Big Show and Mark Henry.
I think a lightweight title can be used as any other secondary title and that's to just elevate someone to the next level.
