I know that I'm the only one who doesn't book my matches and ultimately lets the AI do what it wants and see what happens.
But at this time my champ has mostly wrestled in just regular matches no specialty matches at all, but what I was wondering was how much hell have you put your champions through ? By that I mean have you done a Cage match then followed with a ladder match and continue with the gimmick matches ? Or do you restrict how many gimmick matches you put your champ in ?
I'm actually thinking about trying a Ultimate X match with my champ (that is if the game will allow it)
So lets hear your thoughts how much hell have you put one of your champs through ?
BTW I'm slowly working on a new site so please bare with me as my site is really small right now.

I try to keep my specialty matches to a minimum. In the NWF there are 15 cards per year, and I might have 2-3 gimmick matches (with the whole roster, not just the champion). It just helps them feel more special. As the years go by and more cards are added per year, I could see bumping that up by quite a few. Still, I like keeping them more the surprise than the expected.
If I were booking a WWE style circuit with 12 PPVs, I might have my World Champ defend in 3 specialty matches per year. And maybe one on a TV show.
That could always change of course.

Yeah, I'm old school in my thinking too. I do a few more gimmick matches than Josh does, but generally, I want gimmick matches to add something. Like most times if I do a cage match, it's a match to settle a feud that otherwise couldn't be settled, not just another stop on the road.

I agree that specialty matches should matter and fit the theme of the fued. A Ladder Match shouldn't happen unless there's a reason for it, like dual champions or stolen championship belts. A cage match to keep interference out or because the hatred is so intense cruel, unforgiving steel is demanded to up the violence level. A submission/I Quit match because both guys are submission masters or there's a question of someone's fortitude/toughness.
And while I know WWE loved to do it, in a circuit with PPVs I absolutely ABHOR gimmick matches on free TV. It cheapens something that's supposed to be special.
An exception would be something like Money in the Bank or Elimination Chamber or the Royal Rumble where it's a gimmick match, but the match is special because it's an annual event.

Is it possible to do a Ultimate X match in TNM ? I'm looking at doing a few cards where my champ goes into a specialty match or two and was just wondering if it's possible before I start talking about it on my site

I usually stick to the good ol' slobberknockers like the bullrope match and chain match, Texas death matches. There's so much more to do with those types of matches. Besides, I just like saying slobberknocker anyway...heh heh....slobberknocker...

I have annual Ultimate X-matches at one of my PPVs, and I simply book a Ladder Match and edit the description in the results.
Come to think of it, most of my gimmick matches are annual events... War Games, Ultimate X, Through the Gates of Hell, Queen of the Ring.
And you're not the only one who doesn't book. In fact, I think the bookers are the minority. Although I might be wrong.
