So Sting challenged Hulk Hogan for the WCW World Title at Starrcade 97', but what if plans were different? What if someone else for whatever reason was booked into that spot to challenge Hogan at Starrcade? Now I understand this would totally mess things up involving Sting in a myriad of ways, but here's a couple of scenarios I've thought of if I was trying to book this.
1. Hogan's biggest WrestleMania foe The Ultimate Warrior is brought in a year and a half early and build for a Starrcade showdown... (If this works, we all don't get that terrible Halloween Havoc 98' match lol)
2. Someone smacks some sense into Eric Bischoff and tell him DON'T FIRE STEVE AUSTIN. Austin is kept in WCW and eventually develops into the Stone Cold character, no allegiance to the NWO or WCW.
3. Randy Savage joins the NWO in 1997 (just like in real life) only to turn on Hogan a few months before Starrcade, thus we get a Starrcade match between the two. Maybe inside a cage?
4. Bret Hart is somehow brought into WCW earlier in 1997 and we build to a Starrcade match between the two...
Yes yes, I KNOW all of my ideas here are probably flawed, but hey it's something. So what would you do should Sting not be able to be apart of the Starrcade 97' main event?

This actually gives me an idea, trying to run 90s wwf without Steve Austin OR Bret hart. Simple but I might have to try it since it could lead to some interesting main event scenarios.

Sting vs Hogan is the only main event that makes sense at Starrcade '97 UNLESS you go back to War Games '96 and ditch the whole nWo/Fake!Sting angle and thus we never get Crow!Sting. And WCW-nWo at War Games '96 is also the only matchup that really makes sense. Perhaps Sting remains the same and it's Luger or Savage who turns heel at that point instead?
