Mike Tenay and Lee Marshall make this list while Gorilla Monsoon and Bobby Heenan are not? To coin a phrase, "you gotta be kidding me!"

Mike Tenay and Lee Marshall make this list while Gorilla Monsoon and Bobby Heenan are not? To coin a phrase, "you gotta be kidding me!" Many of my picks are/were regional. Also, I picked based upon how they called a wrestling match in general. I like it when an anouncer calls a match in a way that seems like a real sports event. On a purely national level, then Gorilla Monsoon and Bobby Heenan would be in the top 10. I'll think about a pure national top ten in a few days.

Vince McMahon? Really, PSZ? He had the most annoying naive style of commentating, especially with all that "1-2-3-hegothimwaitnohedidn't!"

I dunno. I always loved his interactions with Jesse Ventura. He also did well with Savage.
You also have to remember, though, this was back pre-Tell A Story days, so while he couldn't name moves like Plancha or Tope, he did well to at least help the in-ring-action MOVE.
And when you consider the fact that most of the time he was calling squash matches and low-to-midcard stuff on syndicated TV, those matches needed ALL the help they could get :-P

1. Jesse Ventura - best at color and thought he did great at play by play @ WrestleMania 2 2. Jim Ross - was great back in his WCW days 3. Eric Bischoff - was great back in the early Nitro era 4. Tony Schiavone - unfairly underrated IMO, best when working with Dusty Rhodes 5. Gorrilla Monsoon - purely entertaining especially with Heenan 6. Bobby Heenan - was great with Monsoon, not as good with other partners 7. Roddy Piper - did a great job filling in during '90-'91 8. Vince McMahon - good despite complete lack of personality 9. Lord Alfred Hayes - incredibly entertaining even if unintentionally 10. Lance Russell - brilliantly entertaining despite not knowing the names of wrestling moves
We should make a 'most annoying' list so I can have somewhere to put Joey Styles, Mark Madden, Jerry Lawler, Michael Cole, and modern day JR.
