Not quite the 5 star classic we got in real life between the Fantastics and the Sheepherders, but a damn good cage match to kick off the show. Glad to see the future Bushwhackers win, but the Fantastics get their heat back by beating up the flag bearer. Is it to be assumed that this flag bearer is Johnny Ace?
Gary Hart International served their purpose for the first year or so of WWA, but I think you're right - I think the stable needs an overhaul.
Piper is red hot, but it is good to see him actually pick up a win. He's one of those guys who is easy to keep in hot angles but sometimes hard to get him actual wins. I'm certain he'll be a big factor in the main event tonight.
Though the Rockers are surely going to be money later, Hustler & Playboy need the win far more right now. Michaels obviously has 25 more years of greatness ahead of him, and I think Jannetty could potentially have a much bigger run in this universe than in real life.
Glad to see Tito and Hector retain the gold, but even happier to see this feud isn't done. There's more mileage here, and you don't have a ton of teams right now, so it's good to get more out of this one.
Six man tag coming up? I'd be okay with that. I do see Adams winning the West Coast Title eventually, but now is not the time.
I am still waiting for the big King Tonga/Haku/Meng push. The more stories I hear and read about him, the more of an absolutely bad ass I think he is. I know it's early in his career, but I still need to see him get big in a hurry. So get on it. Kevin Von Erich, meanwhile, is just someone I wish to get more behind but I just can't. We'll see what happens.
I thought we were going to see the first official WWA title change, but we get ourselves a Dusty finish. A well done one as well - I imagine the heat in the building was off the charts when it was revealed Magnum didn't actually win the title. It's just too bad we don't have triangle matches yet because you're set up perfectly for Funk vs. Magnum vs. Piper. I do think Magnum will be the one to eventually beat Funk for the title.

Yeah, I am not a big fan of dusty finishes myself, but this one was well done. Good to see WWA back in business!

January 24, 1986 - WWA Prime Time Wrestling (Taped January 21, 1986 at Studio 2 in San Francisco, CA)
Tony Schiavone and Ray Stevens welcome us to Studio 2 for another exciting Friday night of pro wrestling! Schiavone says the evening’s main event will feature Marty Jannetty taking on “Rowdy” Roddy Piper! He and Stevens briefly discuss the controversy from the WWA Heavyweight Title match at the Cow Palace last Saturday and say we’ll look how it all went down later in the show.
The Sheepherders and their flag bearer crash the booth, hollering and spitting about their big win over The Fantastics inside the steel cage. Shiavone makes the announcement that The Sheepherders have been granted a WWA Tag Team Championship match coming up in San Diego. After putting themselves over as the next tag Champions, Luke says they’d like to introduce us to their good luck charm, their flag bearer, JACK VICTORY, named that because when he’s around they’re always victorious! Butch says they’ve taught him everything they know and he’ll demonstrate it right now!
S.D. Jones pinned Jack Victory after a backslide in 0:04:33. Rating: DUD
It would appear The Sheepherders may need to give young Jack Victory a few more lessons. The Sheepherders didn’t hesitate to jump in the ring and put the boots to Jones after the bell. The Fantastics come to the rescue but The Sheepherders escape without harm.
Schiavone plugs the upcoming live event in San Diego on February 15 as the one year anniversary since WWA opened its doors. He promised a great night of action, including the already announced Tag Team titles match. He added the WWA will be honoring a wrestling legend from the San Francisco area, “The Man with the Cast Iron Stomach” Pepper Gomez! Ray Stevens gives credit to Pepper but says HE is the man who put San Francisco wrestling on the map!
Kevin Von Erich defeated One Man Gang by countout in 0:09:13. Rating: * 1/4
The end of this match saw Kevin and Gang brawling on the floor. Gary Hart caused a distraction while the Ninja Express came to ringside to give a helping hand. While Gang held Kevin, the Ninjas went for a double karate chop, but Kevin ducked and they knocked Gang loopy. Kevin slid back in the ring to safety while Gang was counted out! After Kevin exited the studio, Gary Hart was in the ring with the Ninjas letting them have it verbally. The Ninjas looked confused but apologetic. That’s when the furious Gang got back into the ring, laid out the Ninjas with a double clothesline and gave them both 747 Splashes! Gary Hart obviously approved when he raised Gang’s hand to a chorus of boos.
[Non-Title Match] Billy Jack Haynes defeated Gustavo Mendoza when Mendoza passed out in the Full Nelson in 0:06:11. Rating: **
The Gentlemen’s Club took over announcing during this match, giving little attention to the wrestling match and mostly talking about Missy Hyatt. Mid-match, The Hustler walked to ringside and started throwing dollar bills at Missy Hyatt! When Haynes saw this, he threatened Playboy who rushed back to the booth laughing. Haynes viciously slapped the Full Nelson on Mendoza to end the match and The Gentlemen’s Club left the area before any confrontation.
Schiavone announces two matches for next week on Prime Time Wrestling. Chris Adams will take on Shawn Micheals and just signed, The Sheepherders & Jack Victory tie up with The Fantastics & S.D. Jones!
Jake Roberts pinned Perry Jackson with the DDT in 0:02:36. Rating: *
Ken Resnick stopped Roberts after the match to get some comments. Resnick fired off a series of questions regarding Jake’s first year in WWA and what he has in store for 1986. Roberts answered every question with just a smirk before walking to the back without saying a word.
After the break we see footage of the finish from the Cow Palace involving Roddy Piper, Magnum TA, and Terry Funk. Schiavone says that next week Promoter Howard Beauchamp would appear live on Prime Time Wrestling to resolve the controversy with a big announcement regarding the February 15th event.
Piper, who was coming out for his match, received a loud round of boos from the studio audience. He then went to the booth to clear his name. He said he understands why the people would be boo’ing him but they have to understand he was justified. He admits he doesn’t like Magnum and says he’s never liked and never will like Terry Funk. But he’s the most deserving challenger to the WWA Heavyweight title. He claims Magnum is the reason he’s not the Champion and until he gets a shot without any outside interference, Magnum won’t either. He expects that Beauchamp's announcement next week will be exactly what he wants.
[Main Event] Roddy Piper pinned Marty Jannetty after a rollover in 0:07:30. Rating: ** 1/4
This was a hell of a match with Jannetty showing off some tremendous offense as he looked for the upset. Fans expected Piper to fight dirty but he wrestled a clean match. In the end, Piper rolled through a flying cross body from Jannetty to pick up the win.
Circuit Information:
Join us next week when Howard Beauchamp makes a big announcement regarding the WWA Heavyweight Title and our February 16th event. Also, Chris Adams goes one-on-one with Shawn Michaels. Plus six man tag team action!

Ah, Jack Victory. Of course. Forgot you had signed him. He's a good third for the Sheepherders though. Unless you count him losing his first match. Glad to see the Sheepherders getting the title shot. I think they could be the next champs.
Well that looks like the end of the Ninjas. Can't say I'll miss them much, truth be told.
It's hard for me not to think Missy Hyatt is going to be turning on Haynes by the end of this. Missy just works so much better as a terrible person.
Ah there we go. It's looking like we're getting the birth of the Snake here soon.
They always say the best heels are justified in their actions. Fans won't like it, but Piper is right. This feud is awesome. Good win for Piper too in the main.

January 31, 1986 - WWA Prime Time Wrestling (Taped January 21, 1986 at Studio 2 in San Francisco, CA)
It’s time for another Friday night of pro wrestling! Tony Schiavone is joined in the booth by Ray Stevens. They discuss tonight’s card, including the WWA Heavyweight Champion Terry Funk in action! Funk will want to make sure he hears Howard Beauchamp’s announcement regarding the Championship and what exactly Beauchamp has planned for the Anniversary show on February 16!
Hector Guerrero and Tito Santana defeated The Libyan and Rick Gantner when T. Santana pinned Gantner with the Flying Forearm in 0:03:40. Rating: ** 1/2
The Tag Team Champions kicked off the show with a dominate performance. Following the match, Ken Resnick met with them at ringside for an interview. First they touch on their next challengers, The Sheepherders. The Sheepherders are unpredictable but Hector says they’re prepared for anything and everything. Santana chimes in that if Jack Victory tries to get involved he’ll stick that flag pole where the sun don’t shine! Arrriba! Resnick then goes on the subject of the House of Humperdink. Just the mention of the names puts a look of disgust on the Champs' faces. They call Eadie and Rude a couple of bullies and they’ll be put in their place in due time.
Steve Williams pinned Rick Renslow with the Oklahoma Stampede in 0:03:54. Rating: *
During the match, Jake Roberts entered the studio and stayed near the curtain to watch. It’s a little unusual, but Roberts is an unusual guy. Williams wasn’t taking his chances and put away his opponent quickly. He pointed at Roberts and asked what Roberts was looking at. Roberts just smirked and walked back through the curtain.
The Sheepherders (Sheepherder Butch and Sheepherder Luke) and Jack Victory defeated The Fantastics (Bobby Fulton and Tommy Rogers) and S.D. Jones when Luke pinned S.D. Jones after a short clothesline in 0:11:04. S.D. Jones suffered a neck injury. He will be out for approximately 11 months. Rating: *
It would be an understatement to say referee Bill Alfonso had his hands full during this match. He had mostly lost control by the end. Being distracted by the brawl he didn’t see Jack Victory hit Jones across the back with the flag pole. Stunned, Jones was easy pickings for a clothesline from Luke and The Sheepherders stole another win!
Following a break, Tony Schiavone introduced promoter Howard Beauchamp to the booth. Ray Stevens was unusually chipper as he shook Beauchamp’s hand and welcomed him. Beauchamp started by saying that in light of what has happened between Terry Funk, Roddy Piper, and Magnum TA, and all of the controversy surrounding the WWA Heavyweight Title, all three men would be wrestling one another on February 15th! This brought Terry Funk out screaming and waving his branding iron around. A few wrestlers had to rush to prevent him from doing anything he might regret. Beauchamp continued to explain how it would work. In three singles matches throughout the night, Terry Funk would have to wrestle both Piper and Magnum, and Piper and Magnum would have to wrestle each other as well. Whichever competitor leaves the Sports Arena in San Diego with two victories would be the WWA Heavyweight Champion! Funk was so stunned by what he was hearing he wasn’t even shouting… that is until Beauchamp added that if each wrestler only wins once the title would be VACATED! Funk was now over-the-top with anger! Ray Stevens rushed Beauchamp away from the booth because Funk was going wild! He started hitting the wrestlers who were holding him back and even flipped the table at the booth, sending Schiavone running for the hills!
Terry Funk defeated Pete Sanchez when Sanchez passed out in the Spinning Toe Hold in 0:01:17. Rating: * 1/2
Funk grabbed his apparent opponent for the evening and chucked him into the ring. The match started with Funk still going absolutely bananas, taking out his anger on poor Pete Sanchez. After the match, Funk, with the WWA Heavyweight Championship in hand, left the studio fuming!
[Main Event] Chris Adams pinned Shawn Michaels with the Superkick in 0:10:26. Rating: **** 1/4 [The Hustler interfered against Shawn Michaels.]
Two minutes into this match The Playboy and The Hustler came to ringside to cheer for Chris Adams. That brought out Billy Jack Haynes, Missy Hyatt, and Marty Jannetty for Michaels. Having these five individuals at ringside, cheering and shouting, seemed to enhance this match quite a bit as Adams and Michaels gave us a hell of a contest. For the most part, Playboy and Hustler were kept in check but Hustler was extra sneaky when he tripped up Michaels as he hit the ropes. Michaels stumbled right into a Superkick! The Gentlemen’s Club taunted their rivals with the win as the show ended.
Circuit Information:
Join us next week as we have two big matches on tap for you; Terry Taylor goes one-on-one with “The Outlaw” Ron Bass; also, fresh off the big announcement of getting another shot at the WWA Heavyweight Title, Magnum TA will get a true test as he is set to do battle with King Tonga! All this and more next week on Prime Time Wrestling!
Next week...

Haha... The Libyan! Man, even with your tag titles, you could do a triangle match right now. Stupid time period! I am still thinking the Sheepherders take the titles, maybe thanks to Eadie/Rude.
Hmmm... now why is Roberts taking an interest in Williams?
Sheepherders need the win to keep their momentum going. Never like to see a long term neck injury like that, but hey, if it's going to happen to somebody, why not SD Jones?
Interesting way to get around doing a triple threat. It's very 80s in that it's a little convoluted but not so over-the-top that you don't know what's happening. I don't know if I like the idea of the title being vacant if they all tie, but it does lead to some interesting possibilities. This San Diego show is huge now.
Poor Pete Sanchez. Fighting normal Terry Funk is bad enough, but a pissed off Funk is just a suicide mission.
Wow, a **** 1/4 main event. Can't beat that. And we know who Michaels is going to steal the Superkick from one day. I'm smelling another 6-man coming up.

I think a Round Robin is a brilliant way of solving a three-way feud like this. The vacant stipulation makes it even more exciting. Otherwise, I would have pegged it a 1-1-1 situation.

February 7, 1986 - WWA Prime Time Wrestling (Taped January 21, 1986 at Studio 2 in San Francisco, CA)
Tony Schiavone and Ray Stevens are in the booth for another tremendous edition of Prime Time Wrestling! Schiavone does a quick rundown of tonight’s card highlighting the main event between Magnum TA and King Tonga. Ray Stevens says Tonga won’t even need him at ringside because Tonga is more than prepared to put the hurt on Magnum!
Brad Armstrong pinned Frankie DeFalco with the Russian Legsweep in 0:03:55. Rating: **
Brad Armstrong was at a slight size disadvantage in tonight’s opener but his technical ability was far superior than DeFalco’s. Armstrong applied a number of holds from the time the bell rang all the way to the end when he was able to utilize the Russian Legsweep to get the win.
House of Humperdink (Bill Eadie and Rick Rude) defeated Jerry Monte and Guy Lambert when Eadie made Lambert submit to the Cobra Clutch in 0:02:34. Rating: ***
During this borderline assault of a wrestling match an insert promo played where Sir Oliver Humperdink, Rude, & Eadie threatened the Tag Team Champions, Tito Santana & Hector Guerrero. Humperdink said they’ve got unfinished business to take care of. And if The Sheepherders leave San Diego with the Tag Team titles, Rude & Eadie are coming for them next!
Terry Taylor pinned Ron Bass after a lariat in 0:07:11. Rating: * 3/4
Bass was more shocked than hurt when the referee counted his shoulders to the mat. As Taylor’s hand was raised Bass put a knee between Taylor's shoulder blades and knocked him out of the ring. Bass was planning on doing some more damage before Brad Armstrong showed up! Brad managed to land a few punches before Bass high-tailed it to the back.
Schiavone and Stevens discussed the upcoming event on February 15. They talked at length about the WWA Heavyweight Championship Series and how difficult it would be for either Piper, Funk, or Magnum to win twice in one night. They also announced that a 6 Man Tag Team Match has been signed in an attempt to settle a feud that is quickly getting personal; Missy Hyatt will accompany Billy Jack Haynes and The Midnight Rockers against The Gentlemen’s Club.
The Gentlemen's Club (The Hustler and The Playboy) defeated Tommy Montana and Phil Hickerson when Playboy pinned Montana after a splash in 0:04:04. Rating: 1/4*
After the match The Playboy and The Hustler held up handfuls of $1 bills. They scanned the crowd, pointing out a number of women asking them what they’d do for a dollar. Most were completely turned off by the duo, but a couple girls danced for them. The Playboy and The Hustler weren’t satisfied and left the studio with every dollar they had.
Before the main event Tony Schiavone announced that one more match has been added to February 15’s event. Because of what we saw earlier in the evening, Brad Armstrong has challenged Ron Bass and the contract has already been signed. It’s Armstrong vs. Bass, one-on-one, next Saturday!
[Main Event] Magnum T.A. pinned King Tonga with the Belly-to-Belly Suplex in 0:10:08. Rating: *
Magnum T.A. certainly wasn’t making things easy on himself taking this match with Tonga just one week ahead of the big Heavyweight Championship Series. Magnum opened with a flurry of offense but Tonga took over using that “island karate” that Stevens says he taught him. Magnum’s resiliency shined through as he mounted a comeback on his way to a hard fought victory using the move he’s perfected, the Belly-to-Belly Suplex.
After the match, Ken Resnick joined Magnum in the middle of the ring to get his thoughts on the big event on February 15. Magnum first puts over WWA saying he knew this was the place to be and after watching it grow in 1985 he’s proud to call it home. He then talks about Piper and Funk, saying he knows how tough they are and how they’ll take any shortcuts to pick up a win. It’s an uphill battle but he’s been fighting to get to the top for a long time and on February 15 he’ll be king of the mountain.
Circuit Information:
Next week we hope to get final words from Magnum, Funk, and Piper about the Heavyweight Championship Series. You’ll also see many of the stars of WWA in action! Tune in next Friday!

Brad Armstrong is just a little lost in the shuffle right now. I expect that won't last too long though.
Your tag division is hard to call right now. You have so many teams I can see realistically being the champs. The only team I can't see as champs right now are the Rockers, and that's more them being so fresh than anything (since we all know what they become).
Big win for Terry Taylor. With how onboard you seem to be with Bass, I was a little surprised to see Taylor win. And there's Armstrong. Baby steps in the right direction.
Holy shit, the Gentleman's Club treating female crowd members like strippers is just awesome.
If this was done now in 2015, there would be a #IslandKarate. That I would start. Big win for Magnum. Should be a great series in San Diego.

February 14, 1986 - WWA Prime Time Wrestling (Taped February 11, 1986 at Studio 2 in San Francisco, CA)
Tony Schiavone and Ray Stevens start the show in the booth. Schiavone thanks everyone watching for making Prime Time Wrestling a part of their Valentine’s Day celebrations! Stevens then calls Schiavone a loser because after the show, Tony is going back to the hotel alone while Stevens is joining Chris Adams and company at The Landing Strip. Schiavone asks why they’re going to the airport. Stevens responds with hearty laughter.
One Man Gang (w/Gary Hart) pinned Jerry Monte with the 747 Splash in 0:03:21. Rating: -1/2*
The Gang didn’t wait for the opening bell or even attempt a collar-and-elbow tie up. He just went straight at Monte, throwing his weight around and throwing Monte like a rag doll. The match should have ended in about 30 seconds but Gang was taking his time and enjoying the punishment. After crushing Monte with the 747 Splash and winning, Gary Hart encouraged a second one. Referee Eddie Gersh attempted to stop it but Gang punched him in the face. Hart ordered a splash on Gersh but a few wrestlers were able to pull Gersh out of the ring. There will undoubtedly be some punishment headed Hart and Gang’s way.
Tito Santana pinned Jack Victory with the Flying Forearm in 0:05:47. Tito Santana suffered a back injury. He will be out for approximately 1 month. Rating: * 1/2
Santana had no second thoughts about wrestling a singles match just one day before defending the Tag Team titles against The Sheepherders. The match was more appealing because Santana would send a message to The Sheepherders by beating up on their flag bearer. Well once Santana disposed of Victory with the Flying Forearm, Butch and Luke stormed the ring. Santana was able to defend himself, knocking both wrestlers to the floor before slingshotting himself over the ropes onto all three men! This gave Santana a chance to retreat before the numbers could catch up to him.
Schiavone announced a big decision that just came down from Howard Beauchamp’s office. Due to Gary Hart and One Man Gang’s actions earlier in the evening they have both been fined and suspended from tomorrow’s event in San Diego! The Gang was penciled in to face Steve Williams but he has been replaced with Jake Roberts who we will see in action in tonight’s main event.
The Fantastics (Bobby Fulton and Tommy Rogers) defeated Frankie DeFalco and Rick Gantner when Fulton pinned DeFalco after a flying cross body press in 0:05:07. Rating: * 1/2
Fulton and Rogers are back on track after dropping one to The Sheepherders in a Cage Match last month. They looked better than ever in their victory tonight.
[Non Title Match] Billy Jack Haynes (w/Missy Hyatt) made Pete Sanchez submit to the Full Nelson in 0:04:17. Rating: * 1/2
During the match Adams showed up and handed Missy a heart-shaped piece of paper and a box of chocolates. An apparent Valentine’s Day gift for Haynes’ girlfriend. She didn’t take kindly to the gesture and as Haynes forced his opponent into submission, she promptly smashed the chocolates in Adams’ face. This caught Haynes attention and he chased Adams from ringside. Haynes cannot wait to get his hands on Adams!
Schiavone gives us a quick rundown of tomorrow night’s event, highlighted by the big Heavyweight Championship Series. He also reminds us that “The Man with The Cast Iron Stomach” Pepper Gomez will be honored at the event. Tony even suggests Pepper could put on a demonstration of his notoriously solid stomach. Ray Stevens did not look impressed.
[Main Event] Kevin Von Erich defeated Jake Roberts by countout in 0:08:15. Rating: * 1/2
Steve Williams entered the studio and watched from the curtain to get a better look at his opponent for tomorrow night. Just a couple of weeks ago Roberts did the same thing to William’s during one of his matches. At that time they weren’t scheduled to be opponents but we didn’t get any explanation from Robert’s as to why he was watching William’s so closely. Von Erich was on a roll before Roberts got a handful of tights and sent him through the ropes to the studio floor. Roberts went out to do some damage and in the process, challenged Williams. Williams approached but Jake grabbed a chair and threatened him. This gave Von Erich more than enough time to spin Jake around and give him a body slam on the concrete! Von Erich slid back in the ring just in time to avoid being counted out. Roberts swore revenge on Williams tomorrow night!
We closed the show with some prerecorded promos from the three men in the Heavyweight Championship Series tomorrow. Terry Funk was out his mind as he shouted about conspiracies and beating everyone thats put in front of him. Roddy Piper was much more composed, but eerily confident. Magnum TA was excited for the challenge and says San Diego will go down on history as the night he won the Heavyweight Title!

One Man Gang, you monster! See he gets suspended later in the show. I could see this leading to Jake Roberts joining Gary Hart now, especially with the Japanese contingent leaving.
Nice win for Santana over the flag bearer, but that injury can't be good a night before having to defend the tag titles against the Sheepherders. Either a replacement for Santana is found, or he wrestles hurt. Either way, I can see the Sheepherders walking out tag champs tomorrow thanks to this unfortunate turn of events.
The Fantastics win, but they seem to be a little directionless right now.
I can't imagine a world where Missy Hyatt doesn't eventually turn on Haynes. And I look forward to it thoroughly.
I had always wanted to use Pepper Gomez back in the day but I never got the chance. I think he did make a couple of appearances when I was running the Cow Palace battle royal, but his cast iron stomach never got its due. Should be fun whatever he's involved with at the show.
I like how simple yet effective building the Williams/Roberts feud has been. Nothing convoluted. Just a couple of quick appearances at ringside during each other's matches and boom, feud. I imagine we don't get anything too definitive tomorrow night. I could see some furthering of Roberts' potential alliance with Gary Hart, even with the manager being suspended.

Injury sucks, to be sure. A 1-month injury wouldn't normally be enough to vacate the belts, but question is, can he work through it?
Hyatt is turning at some point, to be sure. I think this is the right time. She fits right in with the Gentlemen's Club.

February 15, 1986 - WWA Live Pro Wrestling From the Sports Arena in San Diego, CA
It’s the one year anniversary for the World Wrestling Alliance and we’re celebrating with a huge night of pro wrestling! The fans in attendance will witness the WWA Heavyweight Championship Series, a first of its kind, as well as the honoring of legendary Pepper Gomez and his cast-iron stomach. And speaking of fans in attendance it should be no surprise that the California-based promotion is a favorite of many actors including star of The A-Team, Mr. T, who’s sitting in the front row!
1. [WWA Heavyweight Championship Series] Terry Funk (c) vs. “Rowdy” Roddy Piper
What a way to start off the evening with a match in the Heavyweight Championship Series! Funk and Piper were picked by a blind drawing to compete first and neither were very happy about it. This meant that whoever loses this match would have to wrestle Magnum T.A. in the next Series match with very little time to recoup. Funk stormed the ring like a maniac, chasing ring announcer Ken Resnick out of the ring. Piper was a little more reserved but he made sure to let Mr. T know that he was the only REAL celebrity in the building. This match could best be described as a fight. Funk and Piper have a history together that goes beyond their time in the WWA and it was easy to see that contempt for one another come out in this match. There was also urgency to end it quickly to reserve as much energy for their matches later tonight. The slugfest ended out of nowhere with Piper hooking Funk in a backslide for the win!
Roddy Piper pinned Terry Funk after a backslide in 0:09:04. Rating: ** 1/4
Piper didn’t stick around to see how Funk reacted. As he left the ring he flung sweat off his forehead at Mr. T who took exception to it. Funk, meanwhile, has effectively LOST the WWA Heavyweight Championship! Even if he beats Magnum later and the Series ends with a 3-way tie, the title will be vacated! You could see the anger building on his face and just as he lunged at referee Bill Alfonso, “The Outlaw” Ron Bass stepped in front of him to calm him down. Bass managed to get Funk to leave the ring but Funk didn’t go quietly, shouting at Bass that it was his fault because he wasn’t at ringside.
2. The House of Humperdink (w/Sir Oliver Humpderink) vs. The Fantastics
The House of Humperdink failed to capture the Tag Titles from Santana & Guerrero last month but they have made it clear that they will stop at nothing to get a rematch. It would appear that they took this match with The Fantastics thinking it would just be a minor bump in the road. But Rogers & Fulton showed up in San Diego looking to prove that they’re in the hunt just as much as Rude & Eadie. This was a solid match with both teams working their strengths against one another. With the help of a distraction from Sir Oliver Humperdink, Rude was able to hit his finishing neckbreaker to secure the win.
House of Humperdink (Bill Eadie and Rick Rude) defeated The Fantastics (Bobby Fulton and Tommy Rogers) when Rude pinned T. Rogers with the Rude Awakening in 0:10:05. Rating: ** 3/4
Rude & Eadie will likely get another shot at the Tag Titles after a showing like this. It also doesn’t hurt that the current Champions would love nothing more than to climb back in the ring with them to get a level of revenge. Either way, if it’s Santana & Guerrero or The Sheepherders that walk out of the Sports Arena with the belts, Rude & Eadie will be coming for them.
3. “The Outlaw” Ron Bass vs. Brad Armstrong
Bass is a bonafide bully. He was also embarrassed on Prime Time Wrestling last night by Brad Armstrong. A bully doesn’t like to be put in his place and Bass was looking to make an example out of Armstrong. That didn’t go quite as planned. With the fans behind him, Armstrong was able to avoid a great deal of punishment from Bass en route to a pinfall victory.
Brad Armstrong defeated Ron Bass via pinfall in 0:07:32. Rating: **
Bass could blame the loss on being rattled by Funk earlier in the night but any way you slice it this was an impressive victory for Brad Armstrong.
4. Jake “The Snake” Roberts vs. “Dr. Death” Steve Williams
Roberts is a weird character. He has recently taken a particular interest in Steve Williams. We don’t know why. Williams doesn’t know why either but he wants to put a stop to whatever Roberts is up to before it escalates. But it may already be too late because Roberts came to the ring with a canvas bag slung over his shoulder… and whatever is inside was moving! Williams made his down the aisle and climbed onto the ring apron but that’s when Roberts attacked him. A clothesline knocked Williams to the arena floor where Roberts slithered outside to do his worst. He gave Williams the DDT, knocking him completely unconscious! The official knew there was no way the match could happen and he threw it out.
Steve Williams vs. Jake Roberts was ruled a no contest.
Roberts used every ounce of strength he had to lift Williams’ body into the ring and drag him to the middle. He grabbed the canvas bag, opened it, and dumped a PYTHON ON TOP OF WILLIAMS!! Roberts then taunted him with the snake, wrapping the snake around his body to squeeze Williams! Officials swarmed into the ring where Jake threatened them with the snake until he voluntarily left the ring! What in the world has gotten into Roberts?!
5. [WWA Heavyweight Championship Series] Terry Funk (c) vs. Magnum TA
Funk stormed the ring without the WWA Heavyweight Championship and he clearly was not happy about it. He chased the time keeper around the ring before Ron Bass got to ringside in an attempt to calm him down. Magnum TA came to the ring to an explosive reaction from the fans! When the bell rang Magnum took advantage of Funk’s lack of concentration and wrestled him to the ground. Bass popped onto the ring apron causing Magnum to break the hold. This happened multiple times before Magnum had had enough. He left the ring, walked back through the curtain, and it looked like he was walking out of the match. But when Magnum came back through the curtain he wasn’t alone. Walking behind him was none other than “THE AMERICAN DREAM” DUSTY RHODES!!! Magnum brought backup! This evened the playing ground and Magnum and Funk went on to have one hell of a back and forth battle! As Funk was reeling, Bass tried to interfere but Rhodes put a stop to that with a Bionic Elbow. Magnum was able to connect with his patented Belly-to-Belly Suplex for the win!
Magnum T.A. pinned Terry Funk with the Belly-to-Belly Suplex in 0:16:03. Rating: **** 1/4 [Ron Bass interfered against Magnum T.A.]
Funk rolled out as Dusty raised Magnum’s hand in the ring. Funk cleared the cobwebs and realized he had just lost again! Enraged, he slid back in with Bass right behind him. But Magnum and Rhodes were ready and met them with a flurry of punches. Bass was clotheslined out of the ring by Magnum as Funk took 3 Bionic Elbows to the top of the head before stumbling through the ropes and to the locker room. Magnum and Piper’s match in the main event will now be for the WWA Heavyweight Championship!
THE MAN WITH THE CAST IRON STOMACH
Ken Resnick introduced a true legend of professional wrestling and an integral part of wrestling in California, Pepper Gomez. Gomez came out to a polite applause. Resnick thanked him and gifted him with a ceremonial plaque. Resnick then told a tale of Pepper’s Cast Iron Stomach and said that Gomez wanted to put on a demonstration right here in San Diego. As he’s done so many times in the past, Gomez invited fans to line up at the ringside steps and one-by-one, each person, no matter the size, could step in the ring and actually jump on Pepper’s stomach. A line formed quickly and true to his word, a few fans jumped onto his stomach. Pepper was doomed, though. Gary Hart and One Man Gang bullied their way through the crowd. Before Pepper knew what was going on Gang rolled into the ring and completely squashed Pepper with a 747 Splash! Gomez clutched his stomach as he rolled around the ring in pain. Gang flattened him once more with another 747 Splash before officials could get him and Gary Hart out of the ring!
6. The Gentlemen’s Club vs. The Midnight Rockers & Billy Jack Haynes (w/Missy Hyatt)
The Gentlemen’s Club carried $1 bills to the ring, teasing girls in the front row to “earn it”. A few played along only to be denied any cash. The Midnight Rockers had no trouble getting the attention of the female fans in the arena, however. Haynes was no nonsense at all and made a bee line to the ring looking to put The Gentlemen’s Club in their place. The referee had his hands full as emotions were pretty high during the bout. Michaels took the brunt of the punishment from the Gentlemen but fought hard to avoid getting his shoulders pinned. All the Gentlemen taunted Missy throughout the match, raising the ire Haynes in the process. So when Haynes got the hot tag the Gentlemen were in for some trouble! Haynes bounced them all over the ring! The Playboy and Adams retreated to the arena floor but Jannetty and Michaels were quick to meet them and continue the fight. Meanwhile, The Hustler slowed Haynes down with a low blow in the ring. Rather than capitalize, The Hustler turned his attention to Hyatt who by this point was on the ring apron arguing with the referee about the low blow. The Hustler pulled a wad of $1 bills from his tights (gross) and made it rain cash all over Missy! Missy responded with a slap to his face! Hustler staggered backwards into Haynes Full Nelson but before Haynes could apply pressure, Adams slid in the ring, turned him around, and Superkicked him! Hustler fell onto Haynes and scored the huge victory!
The Gentlemen's Club (Chris Adams, The Hustler and The Playboy) defeated The Midnight Rockers (Marty Jannetty and Shawn Michaels) and Billy Jack Haynes when Hustler pinned Haynes after Adams’ Superkick in 0:12:19. Rating: ** 1/2
The Gentlemen’s Club were more than pleased with themselves! As they left ringside, they smiled and blew kisses towards Missy. The Gentlemen’s Club are proving to be gigantic thorns in the sides of Haynes and the Rockers.
Fans were a little disappointed over the announcement that the following match would not be for the Tag Team titles due to Santana being injured and Sheepherder Butch never arriving for the match. However, a match would still happen and a HUGE surprise popped the audience!
7. Sheepherder Luke & Jack Victory vs. Hector Guerrero & Mil Mascaras
The Man of 1000 Masks returned to WWA for one night only to team up with his good friend. He and Hector dominated the match showing off their lucha libre style technical wrestling and high flying. Luke cut down Hector for a moment with an eye rake and a barrage of stomps and closed fists but Hector was never in any real danger of losing. The finish was inevitable when Mascaras climbed to the top rope for his famous Flying Cross Body Press.
Hector Guerrero and Mil Mascaras defeated Sheepherder Luke and Jack Victory when Mascaras pinned Luke with the Flying Cross Body Press in 0:10:54. Rating: 1/2*
It wasn’t the grueling Tag Team titles defense everyone was looking forward to but it was an entertaining exhibition nonetheless. Any momentum The Sheepherders had could have taken a severe hit tonight.
8. [WWA Heavyweight Championship Series] “Rowdy” Roddy Piper vs. Magnum TA
The stakes couldn’t be higher for this one. The winner of this match would walk out with the WWA Heavyweight Championship. Piper has had more time to rest than Magnum but Magnum walked to the ring with determination in his eyes. Dusty Rhodes’ presence tonight has effectively roadblocked Terry Funk from getting involved as well. Magnum was on the offense in the beginning, grinding down Piper with a number of holds. Piper took a powder multiple times out of frustration but he couldn’t even clear his head outside of the ring because the fans, especially Mr. T, were constantly badgering him. At one point Piper got nose-to-nose with Mr. T but Magnum grabbed Piper and continued the brawl on the floor. Piper turned the tide, sending Magnum into the ring post. He then turned his attention back to Mr. T and spat at him. Mr. T was hot and wanted to go after Piper but security was there to restrain him. The match continued with Piper dishing out a lot of punishment on Magnum. The fans stood with Magnum the entire time but Piper seemed to thrive on that. He locked in a sleeper hold to finish the match. Magnum’s arm dropped twice before he mustered the strength to come back. He struggled back to his feet as Piper tried to apply more pressure. Out of desperation, Magnum used what strength he had left to back Piper towards the ropes and both men fell through landing hard on the concrete floor. Piper pulled himself up first, then pulled Magnum up by the trunks and rolled him back in the ring. Piper had a grin on his face as he turned to talk a little more smack to the fans. He didn’t grin very long because Mr. T chucked an entire tray of nachos at him! A near riot broke out at ringside as Piper went at Mr. T, grabbing him by the gold chains around his neck. Security and whatever hands were at ringside stepped in to separate the two of them. Piper finally backed off and got back on the ring apron. He had his back to the ring and Magnum snuck up behind him, lifted him over the ropes, and dropped him with a back suplex. Piper’s shoulders stayed down as the referee counted the three!
Magnum T.A. pinned Roddy Piper after a back suplex in 0:21:29. Rating: *** 1/4 [Magnum T.A. won the WWA Heavyweight Championship.]
Here is your winner… and NEW WWA Heavyweight Champion… Magnum TA! The fans erupted in cheers! Dusty Rhodes came back to the ring and what a sight we had as the night came to an end. Piper was completely bent out of shape over Mr. T who was being escorted out of the building already. Piper always gets the last word so I don’t think we’ve heard the last of him and Mr. T. And what in the world is Dusty Rhodes doing at a WWA event?! He doesn’t even work here! Hopefully we can sort this and so much more out on this week’s edition of Prime Time Wrestling!

What? Dusty Rhodes? That's a OMG moment right there. I thought you would pick up NWF guys, not GCW guys Bummer with the tag match. In real life, the match would probably been scrapped or turned into a singles match, but I know that's not possible in TNM. Other than that, nice anniversary show. The odds were really stacked against Funk. I guess the crowd was excited when he lost the first match, as they knew the belt would at least be vacated. Magnum has made a name for himself in several promotions in the universe, so he deserves the belt. Not a turn for Hyatt this time either? You might just surprise us and never turn her.

Anniversary show. Here we go!
That is a massive way to kick off the show. Not only do we get the start of Mr. T./Roddy Piper which makes me happy due to how iconic it is, but we are guaranteed to have a new champion. This would lead me to believe that Magnum is going to beat Funk too. I think the circuit is too young for you to want to have a title vacancy already.
Like seeing Eadie/Rude get back on track with a win. I am thinking they will be the ones to dethrone Guerrero/Santana.
Yay Brad Armstrong!
There's the debut of the python for Roberts. This is a very cool time for WWA. It seems like this is the time where you're really turning a corner. Your characters are starting to their iconic places, bringing in celebrities... I smell going national.
And then Dusty Rhodes shows up on a WWA show. Niemiller is going to be pissed about this. Bright side is I was right about Funk losing the match to Magnum. Now we're guaranteed to get a new World champion, and Rhodes is guaranteed to get his ass beat in the GCW locker room.
You just knew someone was going to ruin Pepper Gomez's night. Like the choice of it being OMG. I'm a huge fan of the Gang.
I love the Gentleman's Club. That throwing money at women like their strippers is just so slimy. Great stuff. I like Adams taking on Haynes for the title soon. I assume that's when the Hyatt turn takes place.
All kinds of issues with the tag title match. Injuries, a no-show... just a mess. Like rey said, sucks you can't just make it a singles match or cancel it all together, but Mil Mascaras is a nice little addition.
Magnum T.A. wins the big one! Nice he stuck around a promotion long enough to win the top title. Sucks he only has 8 months of a career left, but kudos to you for not altering booking with that knowledge. And yeah, even though the matches will suck, the Mr. T thing is going to be a lot of fun.
So looks like you have Piper/Mr. T and Funk/Rhodes on the horizon (fuck you, Dusty). Leaves a lot of questions about who will be first to challenge Magnum for the title now that he's champ.

February 21, 1986 - WWA Prime Time Wrestling (Taped February 11, 1986 at Studio 2 in San Francisco, CA)
Tony Schiavone and Ray Stevens are in the booth and excited to report on the news coming out of WWA’s Anniversary show last Saturday. The biggest news; Magnum TA defeated both Terry Funk and Roddy Piper in the Championship Series to become the NEW WWA Heavyweight Champion! Stevens added that he didn’t do it without help. We cut to a clip showing the final minutes of the main event including the pandemonium at ringside between Piper and Mr. T, the finishing move, and Magnum celebrating with friends. Schiavone says next week Magnum TA will be on the program in action and hopefully we can get some comments on his big victory. Stevens wonders aloud if Magnum’s “friends” will be here too.
Brad Armstrong and Terry Taylor defeated The Sheepherders (Sheepherder Butch and Sheepherder Luke) when Taylor pinned Luke after a backslide in 0:09:08. Rating: * 3/4
Circumstances prevented The Sheepherders from getting their shot at the Tag Team Championship last weekend. They’re still the number one contenders but things were definitely shaken up after tonight. Brad Armstrong and Terry Taylor, a couple of very young and very hungry competitors were teaming together for the first time and they gelled better than anyone could have hoped. In the end The Sheepherders went for the Double Gutbuster but Taylor escaped and gave them a double noggin knocker! Armstrong sent Butch careening through the ropes with a dropkick while Taylor executed a backslide on Luke for the win! Mildly put, The Sheepherders were upset as they left ringside.
Marty Jannetty defeated Ron Bass by countout in 0:10:48. Rating: ** 1/4 (The Hustler no-showed.)
Word going around is The Hustler had a bit too much fun last night and called in sick. So Jannetty, who was looking forward to getting his hands on his rival, instead agreed to tie up with “The Outlaw” Ron Bass. After failing to pin Jannetty multiple times, Bass threw him to the floor thinking he could really finish him off there. But Jannetty avoided serious damage and with a dropkick, sent Bass backwards over the security railing. Jannetty beat the referee’s count and was awarded the win by countout!
Back at the booth Tony Schiavone tells us that he just got word from Howard Beauchamp’s office that next week, Shawn Michaels will take on The Playboy. He adds that a special stipulation is being worked on so it’s in The Playboy’s best interest to NOT call in sick.
Bob Armstrong pinned Perry Jackson with the Bullet Buster in 0:03:48. Rating: * 3/4 (Hector Guerrero no-showed.)
It was great to see “Bullet” Bob in action here on Prime Time Wrestling. He followed up his son’s victory earlier in the night with a solid win of his own.
PIPER’S PIT
Roddy Piper had a dejected look on his face and he spoke very monotone as he introduced his guest, whose name he didn’t even know. The two sat and Piper talked about losing Saturday to Magnum TA, which the fans cheered. Piper went on to comment on Mr. T, who he felt played a big part in why he lost to Magnum. He called Mr. T a second rate actor with a stupid hair cut who bought a ticket to see Roddy Piper because he wishes he was as bad of a man as Piper is! He finally cooled down and then asked his guest’s name; Chico Cabello, and then asked Chico if he had ever lost. Chico said yes. Piper then seemed to remember seeing Chico lose and lose often. He said Chico lacked guts and fortitude. Chico took offense to that and says he’s always in that ring and he’s not afraid of no man. Piper and Chico bickered for a second before Piper just hauled off and punched the man in the face. After a few more punches he shoved Chico through a curtain and out of the Pit. Piper then returned to his seat and put out a formal invitation to Mr. T to come on Piper’s Pit on March 8 at the Cow Palace. He promised he wouldn’t give Mr. T the Chico treatment.
King Tonga pinned Jose Luis Rivera with a falling headbutt in 0:03:34. Rating: 1/2*
King Tonga decimated his opponent here tonight. Ray Stevens continues to put him over on commentary but it seems Stevens is no longer the personal manager of Tonga. As Tonga picks up the win it looks like he’ll do just fine on his own.
[Main Event] Terry Funk pinned Guy Lambert after a piledriver in 0:02:09. Rating: * 1/2
Terry Funk stormed the booth on his way to the ring hollering about Magnum TA and Dus… but Schiavone pulled the microphone away for fear he may say something inappropriate. When he left the booth he went straight into the ring and attacked Guy. With his chaps and vest still on he proceeded to club Guy across the back but Guy started firing back with straight rights putting Funk on wobbly legs! A clothesline sent Funk over the ropes to the floor! Guy was on fire as the fans cheered him. Funk took his vest off and tossed it in the ring, followed by his chaps, and then a few chairs. Referee Alfonso cleared the chairs but when his back was turned Funk slid in the ring with his branding iron and nailed Guy across the back with it! He then planted Guy with a piledriver for the win!
After the match Terry Funk grabbed a microphone and sent a message to Magnum TA! He said he wants his rematch! He wants it December 8th at the Cow Palace! And he begged Magnum to bring DUSTY RHODES with him too!
Circuit Information:
Join us next week as Magnum TA will be in action and hopefully he’ll address Terry Funk’s challenge. Shawn Michaels will face The Playboy with a stipulation that will be named that night. Also, we’ll see the House of Humperdink and more!

Wow... Sheepherders went from possibly being the next tag champs to losing to a thrown together (but talented) team. I kinda like the Armstrong/Taylor pairing.
Man, you've had a lot of fun with the no-show bug recently. I want to see more Playboy & Hustler, dammit.
Geez... Hector too? Man, why doesn't anyone like showing up to work for you? You need to make an example out of somebody, like I did with the Fabulous Ones.
It's classic 80s silliness, but man do I love old school skits like this. That Piper's Pit did a lot to build to a showdown with Mr. T without T being anywhere near the show. So well done.
I'll be perfectly honest and say I can't wait to get my hands on Tonga.
This is such a crazy time for the Universe. This Dusty Rhodes stuff is actually really crazy, because he still has dates with GCW, so watching him be mentioned on both shows is something that will be talked about for awhile. Funk is a great foil for Magnum T.A. here too. And a bloody brawl of a match between Dusty and Funk is sure to happen, which I am really stoked for.

February 28, 1986 - WWA Prime Time Wrestling (Taped February 11, 1986 at Studio 2 in San Francisco, CA)
The show opened up with Ken Resnick standing backstage with the new WWA Heavyweight Champion, Magnum TA. Magnum first talked about how difficult it was defeating two of the toughest opponents in his career in one night. He said he couldn’t have done it without the fans support. When questioned about facing Terry Funk in a rematch Magnum said he would be more than happy to defend his Championship against Funk on March 8. Resnick reminds us that Magnum will be in action a little later tonight.
Back at the booth Tony Shiavone and Ray Stevens comment on Magnum accepting Funk’s challenge for March 8. Schiavone says it shows Magnum will be a fighting Champion. Stevens says it wasn’t the fans support, it was outside interference that helped him win and he thinks Magnum made a huge mistake agreeing to face next Saturday. Then they hype tonight’s card as well as the big announcement from Howard Beauchamp regarding our main event match between Shawn Michaels and The Playboy.
Roddy Piper pinned Tim Shepard after a bulldog in 0:03:14. Rating: 1/2* (Chico Cabello no-showed.)
Piper was flat out disrespectful toward his opponent throughout the entire match. He slapped Shepard across the face numerous times and verbally insulted him at every opportunity before finally pinning him. He briefly stopped by the booth after the match to remind Mr. T that the invitation to come onto Piper’s Pit still stands and that all he wants to do is iron out their differences.
House of Humperdink (Bill Eadie and Rick Rude) defeated Tommy Montana and Ken Massey when Rude pinned Montana with the Rude Awakening in 0:03:35. Rating: * 1/4
Sir Oliver Humperdink’s duo continues to impress with another dominate performance here on Prime Time Wrestling. After the match ends Eadie locks Ken Massey in the Cobra Clutch for good measure while Rude throws Montana out of the ring.
Next we saw a clip from San Diego of Pepper Gomez being honored and One Man Gang sabotaging his demonstration, flattening Pepper with two 747 Splashes. Schiavone and Stevens surprisingly agreed that what Gang did was completely uncalled for. Stevens commented that Pepper, much like himself, is a legend of professional wrestling and even though they may not have much more in common, Pepper has earned and deserves respect. Schiavone said Gang, along with his manager Gary Hart, will be in action next week and hopefully they can shed some light on what they were thinking in San Diego.
Magnum T.A. pinned Alvin Cazaes with the Belly-to-Belly Suplex in 0:03:38. Rating: -1/4*
The new Heavyweight Champion looked awesome tonight, steamrolling Alvin Cazaes before putting him away with his devastating finisher. Magnum is in the best shape of his life and Terry Funk will have his work cut out for him at the Cow Palace.
Howard Beauchamp joined Tony and Ray in the booth with a lot of exciting news regarding WWA’s return to the Cow Palace next Saturday on March 8. First he confirmed that Magnum TA would indeed defend the WWA Heavyweight Championship against Terry Funk. Also, Billy Jack Haynes will put his West Coast Championship on the line against “Gentleman” Chris Adams. And lastly, The Sheepherders, due to circumstances from our event in San Diego and their loss last week, are no longer the #1 Contenders for the Tag Team Titles. Therefore new #1 Contenders will be crowned on March 8. Which brings us to tonight’s main event between Shawn Michaels and The Playboy. Whichever wrestler wins that match, the team he represents will compete for the #1 Contenders spot at the Cow Palace. Their opponents will be decided next week right here on Prime Time Wrestling when The House of Humperdink takes on the duo of Terry Taylor & Brad Armstrong.
Chris Adams pinned Steve Williams with a schoolboy in 0:07:03. Rating: ** 1/4
Schiavone voiced his concern on commentary about Williams well-being going into this match. Williams was knocked unconscious by Jake Roberts in San Diego and some are worried he could have a potentially worse injury than he’s letting on. It wasn’t until the end of the match when we would see the long lasting effects of Jake Roberts’ DDT. Williams dropped Adams with a back duplex but in the process he seemed to hit the back of his head on the mat. Adams actually recovered quicker than Williams who needed the ropes to get to his feet. Adams was quick to capitalize with a schoolboy and a handful of tights to pick up the win!
As Adams left the ring Jake Roberts slid in behind Williams. He hooked him for the DDT but Williams countered with a back body drop! Roberts quickly slithered back out of the ring. Williams challenged him to come back in and fight but Roberts thought better of it.
[Main Event] Shawn Michaels pinned The Playboy with the Flying Dropkick in 0:08:35. Rating: *** 3/4
High stakes were on the line here as bitter rivals hooked up in tonight’s Main Event. The winner’s team would compete for the #1 Contenders’ spot at the Cow Palace which could mean Tag Team gold in the future. The Playboy flashed dollar bills on his way to the ring encouraging the ladies to dance for him. But he was stingy tonight, sticking the bills back into his tights. The ladies, however, lost their minds when Shawn Michaels hit the ring and this didn’t sit well with The Playboy. As the match went on, The Hustler strutted to ringside in support of The Playboy. When he attempted a distraction, Marty Jannetty came out and chased him around the ring. The Playboy screamed for The Hustler to join him in the ring where it was safe so he did, right into a giant hug from his partner. They mocked Jannetty, totally forgetting about Michaels who walked right up and slammed their heads together. Micheals then came off the top with a Flying Dropkick on the loopy Playboy to pick up the win!
Circuit Information:
The Midnight Rockers secure their spot in the #1 Contenders Match and next week we’ll find out their opponents when The House of Humperdink take on Terry Taylor & Brad Armstrong. Also, One Man Gang will be in action and so much more.

Magnum might be finding out soon that retaining the title is just as difficult if not more so than winning it.
Your no-show problems have been so ridiculous that even your enhancement talent doesn't show up. I hope Mr. T does show up for Piper's Pit. It will be terrible, but would make for fantastic 80s TV.
As much as I like the team of Eadie & Rude, I'm excited to see Rude break loose into singles. I have a feeling he's going to be a huge star in this universe.
I don't expect to see much more of Pepper Gomez (definitely not in a match) but it will be interesting to see who steps into to defend his honor against the Gang.
I like what you have going so far for Cow Palace. Magnum will retain the title, but I can't imagine a world where that match doesn't kick ass. I could see Haynes losing his title to Adams for sure though.
Tough loss for Williams tonight. Even though he escaped serious injury here, you have to wonder how his head injury is going to affect him. Roberts may cause him great pain now.
Huge win for Michaels in the main event. This is definitely looking like the start of the Rockers being cemented as serious threats in the tag division.
Good stuff, my friend. I'm up for three, I believe.

March 7, 1986 - WWA Prime Time Wrestling (Taped March 4, 1986 at Studio 2 in San Francisco, CA)
Tony Schiavone and Ray Stevens are standing in the booth with the rundown of tonight’s card, most notably the big match of The House of Humperdink versus Brad Armstrong & Terry Taylor for the right to wrestle the Midnight Rockers at the Cow Palace in the Top Contenders' Match. Also, Schiavone says Mr. T has sent a video tape regarding Piper’s invitation to be on Piper’s Pit and we’ll air that later in the broadcast. For now, let’s get to the action!
Billy Jack Haynes defeated Rick Renslow when Renslow passed out in the Full Nelson in 0:04:52. Rating: *
West Coast Champion Billy Jack Haynes was accompanied by Missy Hyatt and they both looked fantastic. Renslow was no match against the power and technique of Billy Jack. Once Haynes locked the fingers for the Full Nelson it was lights out for Renslow.
Following the match Ken Resnick interviewed the duo at ringside. Missy Hyatt said The Gentlemen’s Club should take a look at what a real man look’s like as she smiled and flaunted her man. Billy Jack then says the disrespect Chris Adams has shown him and Missy will end at the Cow Palace after he beats him and leaves STILL the West Coast Champion.
[Handicap-Match] One Man Gang defeated Gerald Finley and Phil Hickerson when One Man Gang pinned Hickerson with the 747 Splash in 0:05:44. Rating: -3/4*
It wasn’t long ago that Gary Hart put all of his attention and resources into making the One Man Gang a force to be reckoned with. Gang has been an absolute terror in recent weeks and tonight was no different as he demolished his opponents rather easily.
After mercifully ending the match, One Man Gang and Gary Hart stopped by the booth for an interview. Schiavone questioned what their intentions were when they attacked Pepper Gomez, a well respected and legendary figure in pro wrestling. Hart claimed it was an open invitation to ANYONE to test Pepper’s “Cast Iron Stomach” and One Man Gang simply took him up on the offer. He added that Pepper’s stomach "didn’t seem so cast iron after all, now did it?" Ray Stevens chimed in angrily saying Hart was full of crap and the two of them deserved a much longer suspension than the one they got. Hart was a little taken aback by Stevens’ stance but Stevens cleared that up saying guys like him and Pepper have accomplished more and done more for pro wrestling than Hart and Gang will ever do. Hart, who is now entertained by Stevens’ comments, suggests that if Stevens thinks he can do something to stop them then he’s more than welcome to try. While Schiavone tries to cool things down, Stevens says he’s got a guy who is tougher than One Man Gang. Stevens challenges One Man Gang to face KING TONGA at the Cow Palace! Gary Hart laughs and says “if you insist.”
Kevin Von Erich pinned Gustava Mendoza after a flying cross body press in 0:06:44. Rating: DUD
Von Erich is a fan favorite that impresses every time he steps through the ropes. His match here with Mendoza was no different as he dazzled fans with his finesse before putting Mendoza away with a beautiful body press off the top. During the match it was announced that next week on Prime Time Wrestling, Von Erich would be teaming with The Fantastics to take on all three members of The Gentlemen’s Club.
Back at the booth Tony Schiavone makes the announcement that a rematch between Jake “The Snake” Roberts and “Dr. Death” Steve Williams has been added to tomorrow’s event. He then brought out Williams to get comments on the match. Williams addressed the public concern about a potential head injury. He admits that Roberts’ DDT on the concrete floor was devastating but says Jake will have to do better than that to take him out. He says he’s coming for revenge at the Cow Palace.
King Tonga pinned Bob Armstrong after a second rope headbutt in 0:07:31. Rating: **
We had quite the attraction here as King Tonga and veteran “Bullet” Bob squared off. Throughout the match Ray Stevens on commentary put over Tonga’s toughness, all the while, to the surprise of Schiavone, giving credit to “Bullet” Bob as well. In the end it was Tonga securing the win and Stevens’ says he expects to see the same thing when Tonga defeats One Man Gang tomorrow night.
Next we get video footage of Mr. T inside a gym where he comments on Roddy Piper. He first says he’s been a fan of WWA since the beginning and just like every other fan, he has his favorites. He says he came to the Sports Arena in San Diego to cheer on Magnum T.A. He said he didn't know if Piper was jealous of Magnum, or jealous of him. Either way, “we both better than that fool.” He said Piper wanted to start trouble but at the end of that night, Piper only has himself to blame for losing to Magnum. He then says he accepts that punk Roddy Piper’s invitation to the Piper’s Pit but “I pity the fool who tries some funny business."
[Main Event] House of Humperdink (Bill Eadie and Rick Rude) defeated Brad Armstrong and Terry Taylor when Rude defeated B. Armstrong via pinfall in 0:09:49. Rating: ** 3/4
The winner of this match will face The Midnight Rockers tomorrow night in the Top Contender’s Match. Armstrong & Taylor just began teaming only a couple of weeks ago and picked up a major win against The Sheepherders. They’re two very competent singles wrestlers who have already turned some heads as a tag team. But Eadie & Rude have been teaming for quite some time now and they’ve been chasing the Tag Team titles for months. They lost their only opportunity at the gold back in January and have made it clear they will stop at nothing until they get another. Armstrong & Taylor have clearly been training together because they cooperated like a team that’s been around for years. They had Eadie & Rude on the verge of losing multiple times if it hadn’t been for luck or timely distractions by Sir Oliver Humperdink. The finish came after Brad Armstrong took Rude down with the Russian Legsweep and covered him. But Humperdink jumped on the apron, getting the attention of the referee and Terry Taylor. That’s when Eadie came off the second rope with an elbow drop to the back of Brad’s head and rolled Rude over onto him. Humperdink jumped down and the referee turned and counted three!

It may not be happening yet, but Missy has to turn on Haynes. I can't imagine Haynes being interesting longterm unless he gets screwed over.
I love angles like this Pepper Gomez thing. Stevens and Gomez had a lot of real life battles in San Francisco so it's cool to see him coming to his aid (through Tonga).
He keeps rolling, but Von Erich needs to get himself into a real program soon.
I have a feeling Steve Williams could end up getting hurt. I understand with some of the additions you made some guys would be pushed back, but Williams has really fallen back. He was really hot when WWA kicked off. Hopefully this feud with Roberts ignites him. On that note, I think this is the beginning of Jake becoming huge.
Tonga could use some big wins, so good to see him win here.
Haha. This Mr. T stuff is so delightfully bad. I love it.
I think Brad Armstrong and Taylor have the potential to become a solid plucky face tag team, but I think we're looking at the next tag team champs in Eadie & Rude.

March 8, 1986 - WWA Live Pro Wrestling From the Cow Palace in San Francisco, CA
1. Kevin Von Erich, “Terrific” Terry Taylor, & Brad Armstrong vs. The Libyan, Sheepherder Luke, & Jack Victory
It was just a month ago that The Sheepherders were first in line for a Tag Team title match. After a series of circumstances, unfortunate or otherwise, Luke finds himself starting over without a partner. Unless you count Jack Victory. But if this was a tryout to become a Sheepherder, neither Jack or The Libyan did much to impress. In fact, the entire match was dominated by the fan favorites.
Kevin Von Erich, Terry Taylor and Brad Armstrong defeated The Libyan, Sheepherder Luke and Jack Victory when B. Armstrong pinned The Libyan with the Russian Legsweep in 0:08:16. Rating: *
Luke is an accomplished tag team wrestler and unless he finds a partner in the near future he’s going to struggle quite a bit in the singles ranks. As for Taylor & Armstrong, their ability to work together even shined through in this match and they could have a lot of success as a team. Kevin Von Erich looked as good as ever as he looks to work his way into title contention.
2. One Man Gang (w/Gary Hart) vs. King Tonga (w/Ray Stevens)
Despite Ray Stevens generally favoring the villains and he and Tonga’s rocky past with WWA fans, they were both cheered going up against Gary Hart and One Man Gang. Hart is a despicable human being and Gang is just a bully who likes to hurt people. Tonga had no problems standing up to Gang and even though he was giving up close to 200 lbs. he didn’t back down at all. In the end, after enduring quite a bit of punishment, Tonga attempted bodyslam but collapsed under Gang's weight. Gang followed that up with the 747 Splash for the win!
One Man Gang pinned King Tonga with the 747 Splash in 0:06:16. Rating: * 1/2
As the bell rang, Gary Hart jumped onto the ring apron and ordered Gang to do another splash. But before Gang could do it Ray Stevens yanked Gary Hart off the ring apron and dropped him with a punch to the face, popping the crowd! Gang rolled out of the ring but Stevens took off to the locker room before Gang could get to him. King Tonga was able to walk away without further damage and Gary Hart had to be carried away like a baby by One Man Gang.
3. [Non-Title Match] Hector Guerrero & Tito Santana vs. The Gentlemen’s Club
Guerrero & Santana will certainly have their eyes on the Top Contenders match later on tonight but they didn’t just come to the Cow Palace to watch. They’re always ready to step between those ropes, titles on the line or not. The Hustler & The Playboy are not in a position to challenge the Champions but a win over them tonight could very well put them close to the top of the list. Perhaps if they took themselves a bit more serious as far as being professional wrestlers go they may have had more luck. They seemed a bit too concerned with looking good for the females in attendance, posing and strutting when momentum was on their side. Guerrero eventually got on a roll dishing out the offense before tagging in Santana to put the finishing touches on The Hustler.
Hector Guerrero and Tito Santana defeated The Gentlemen's Club (The Hustler and The Playboy) when Santana pinned Hustler with the Flying Forearm in 0:13:50. Rating: **
The Champions must now turn their focus to the Top Contenders whom they'll find out later tonight when The House of Humperdink collide with The Midnight Rockers.
4. [WWA West Coast Championship Match] Billy Jack Haynes (c) (w/Missy Hyatt) vs. “Gentlemen” Chris Adams
The animosity in this match was off the charts. Chris Adams came to the ring as arrogant as ever but when Billy Jack Haynes hit the ring, Adams ran for his life! Haynes chased him a couple of times around the ring before Adams grabbed Missy Hyatt and put her in front of him. This may have bought Adams enough time to get in a cheap shot in and get back in the ring but it enraged Haynes even more. Once Haynes got his hands on Adams he tossed him all over like a rag doll. After what must have felt like an eternity for Adams his cohorts in The Gentlemen’s Club came to ringside. When Haynes locked in the Full Nelson The Hustler jumped onto the ring apron. Haynes broke the hold and threatened him. That’s when Missy Hyatt climbed onto the ring apron and slapped Hustler into a daze. The Playboy then grabbed her ankle but she kicked him away, stepped down off the ring apron and slapped him too! All this chaos allowed Adams to recover, though. He grabbed a waistlock on Haynes and ran him into the ropes which also sent The Hustler flying off the ring apron onto Missy Hyatt! The momentum of the ropes allowed Adams to use an O’Connor Roll on Haynes and with a handful of tights Chris Adams won the West Coast Title!
Chris Adams pinned Billy Jack Haynes after an O'Connor Roll in 0:11:55. Rating: * (Chris Adams won the WWA West Coast Title.) [The Hustler and The Playboy interfered against Billy Jack Haynes.] [Missy Hyatt interfered against Chris Adams.]
Adams scurried out of the ring where he was handed the title belt and celebrated with his stablemates. Haynes was less worried about losing than he was about Missy’s well-being. She was loopy and probably had no idea where she was. As The Gentlemen’s Club left ringside and Missy started to gain her bearings you could see Haynes' emotions go from worried to upset to angry. It’s doubtful Adams has seen the last of Haynes.
PIPER’S PIT
There’s a lot of buzz going into this edition of Piper’s Pit. A lot of news outlets are in attendance and at ringside for this segment because tonight’s guest is Mr. T, the star of the A-Team. Roddy Piper is out first and he takes no time getting under the crowd’s skin. He briefly talks about Mr. T being the reason he didn’t win the WWA Heavyweight Championship last month before introducing the man himself. Mr. T was cautious about getting into the ring but eventually stepped in while Piper promised he would be fine. For the next 5 minutes Piper asked questions that he answered himself before Mr. T could even get a word in. Mr. T and the crowd were getting very agitated with Piper. The last question Piper asked was “how tough are you, Mr. T?” He repeated himself, this time poking his finger into Mr. T’s chest. Mr. T shoved Piper back, prompting a heated nose-to-nose staredown. But Piper stepped away smiling before telling everyone that Mr. T’s time was up because he had another guest scheduled for Piper’s Pit. That’s when “MR. WONDERFUL” PAUL ORNDORFF made his way down the aisle and into the ring. Orndorff and Piper had smiles on their faces as they shook hands. Orndorff then made comments about Mr. T being a lot smaller in person and that Mr. T didn’t look so tough. Orndorff then said Mr. T “wished he could look this good” before doing a double-biceps pose. Piper was amused; Mr. T was not. As Mr. T went to the leave the ring, Piper grabbed him by the wrist and forcefully pulled him back in asking him where he was going. Then Orndorff shoved Mr. T into a corner and punched him in the gut, dropping Mr. T to his knees. As the crowd was already in a frenzy, MAGNUM T.A. slid into the ring. Piper was greeted with a right hand, then Orndorff took a couple of punches before he and Piper were able to get an advantage over Magnum. That’s when Mr. T got back up and attacked Piper! At that point ringside security, officials, and a few wrestlers hit the ring to break everything up! What a melee we had on our hands and surely the press will have a field day with this one.
5. [Number One Contenders Match] House of Humperdink (w/Sir Oliver Humperdink) vs. The Midnight Rockers
Eadie & Rude have been chasing the Tag Team Champions for months now. They lost their first shot at the belts, which they thought they would win easily, and they haven’t lived it down. Oliver Humperdink has guaranteed his men would become the next Tag Team Champions and anyone who steps in their way would regret it. But tonight, it’s The Midnight Rockers who are standing in the way. Michaels & Jannetty are loved by WWA fans and are quickly becoming one of the most exciting tag teams in wrestling. And rightfully so as they’ve been dazzling fans in California and successfully climbing the ranks. The Top Contenders spot was on the line here tonight and both teams put in a tremendous effort. After taking quite a bit of punishment Jannetty made a hot tag to Michaels. Michaels bounced Rude all over the ring before knocking Eadie off the ring apron with a dropkick. Michaels tagged Jannetty back in and dropped Rude with the Rocker-Plex! As the referee backed Michaels out of the ring, Eadie rolled in with a wrench and clubbed Jannetty in the back of the head. Eadie put Rude on top, slid back out of the ring, and when the referee turned around he counted the fall, giving Rude & Eadie the victory!
[Number-One-Contenders-Match] House of Humperdink (Bill Eadie and Rick Rude) defeated The Midnight Rockers (Marty Jannetty and Shawn Michaels) when Rude pinned Jannetty in 0:12:30. Rating: *** 3/4
The House of Humperdink cheated but no amount of arguing from Shawn Michaels or pleading from the crowd was going to change the referee’s decision. They are the Top Contenders and will get another shot at Santana & Guerrero’s WWA Tag Team Titles.
6. Jake “The Snake” Roberts vs. Bobby Fulton
“Dr. Death” Steve Williams was scheduled to have his rematch with Roberts here tonight. For reasons unknown at this time, he never showed up at The Cow Palace. His condition has been questioned lately following a DDT Roberts gave him on the concrete floor last month and perhaps Williams is in worse shape than he’s leading on. Bobby Fulton, one half of The Fantastics, took his place. Fulton presented a hell of a challenge, but Roberts is at the top of his game right now. Not to mention Fulton also had to be concerned with the python in the burlap sack that Roberts brought to ringside. Roberts is constantly adjusting his game plan throughout his matches and he calculates every move he makes. All of this to find the opportunity to hit the DDT, one of the most lethal finishers in wrestling. That’s exactly what he did to defeat Bobby Fulton tonight.
Jake Roberts pinned Bobby Fulton with the DDT in 0:15:22. Rating: *** (Steve Williams no-showed.)
Roberts wasn’t content with just winning. He opened up the burlap sack and dumped his pet python on top of Fulton! You could hear the collective gasp from the fans in attendance. Roberts sat in the corner with a smile on his face as the python slithered on the unconscious body of Fulton. Satisfied, Roberts draped the python over his shoulders and left ringside. As for Steve Williams, we hope to have more information on him in the very near future.
7. [WWA Heavyweight Championship Match] Magnum T.A. (c) vs. Terry Funk
Magnum T.A. became the Heavyweight Champion last month by defeating Roddy Piper and Terry Funk in the Championship Series. On that night, though, Funk had already wrestled Piper before stepping in the ring with Magnum. So tonight is truly a test for Magnum as he faces a fresh Terry Funk, the former Champion who held the belt for nearly 10 months. Funk is generally intolerable and aggressive but tonight even more so. Before Magnum was even introduced Funk had already offended everyone in attendance and tried to fight anyone seated in the first six rows. When Magnum did get introduced and entered the ring, Funk tried to jump him. But Magnum was prepared, blocked Funk’s cheap shot, and went to work with punches of his own all while still wearing his ring jacket and Championship around his waist. The crowd was in a frenzy as Magnum and Funk brawled all over ringside in the early minutes of the match. Magnum has never looked better as he controlled a good portion of the match until Funk landed a well placed headbutt that split Magnum open. The bloodied Champion was now on the defensive as Funk went to work. Funk laid in numerous shots to the open wound before turning his attention to Magnum’s left leg. After numerous unsuccessful attempts to apply the Spinning Toe Hold, Funk uncharacteristically went to the top rope! Big mistake as Magnum was able to shake the ropes causing Funk to slip and crotch himself. Magnum was able to fully recover, land a series of heavy strikes including a flying double axe handle, before catching Funk in a backslide for the win.
Magnum T.A. pinned Terry Funk with a backslide in 0:22:03. Rating: **** (Magnum T.A. retained the WWA Heavyweight Title.)
Referee Bill Alfonso raised Magnum’s hand in victory but Terry Funk was up quick and blindsided Magnum with a clubbing blow to the head. Funk then hurled Alfonso out of the ring and grabbed the Heavyweight Championship belt. Magnum struggled to get back to his feet as Funk stalked him, waiting for the perfect moment to hit him with the belt. But before Funk could make the move DUSTY RHODES slid into the ring, turned Funk around, and landed three quick Bionic Elbows knocking Funk into next week! The crowd was going crazy as Dusty provoked Funk like only Dusty can. Funk rolled out of the ring where he punched a photographer and threw the timekeeper to the ground. He grabbed the house mic and threatened Dusty with revenge. Funk then tossed a number of chairs into the ring before stammering back to the dressing room. Dusty and Magnum entertained the fans as the show closed.
Card Rating: ***

Been looking forward to this show a lot, so let's do this!
Luke is just all over the place right now. Going from probably winning the tag titles to being just completely lost. Sucks, but I wouldn't be surprised if you just cut him. Meanwhile, you have yourself a plucky face team in Terry Taylor & Brad Armstrong that could make some noise.
I like how you're booking One Man Gang. He's one of those guys I just have a soft spot for, so it's nice to see him being used in an interesting fashion. This will also serve to help the future Haku, who is another guy I think will do very well in this universe.
I think the reign of Tito & Hector is nearing its end, but once again, kudos on a really good run for them. I think it helps Tito's stock a lot. Meanwhile, The Hustler and the Playboy don't need to win a match like this to be entertaining.
Haynes' has had a good little run and you managed to make him interesting, but Chris Adams is money right now. And honestly, even if it's not happening immediately, the Haynes thing has been a really effective pilot to get Missy Hyatt going. I expect the Gentlemen's Club to be insufferable now.
Great Piper's Pit segment. Mr. T is so blah, but you're booking this really well. Sure, it's not too far off from real life, but we don't have to reinvent the wheel every go out.
Eadie & Rude are the next tag team champs if you ask me, and the Midnight Rockers will be perennial challengers too. Can't go wrong with that match.
Man, Steve Williams has seemingly fallen off the map. He started WWA on fire, and now I have to remind myself he is here. Jake Roberts however is steadily on the rise. I'd love to see a potential program with Magnum before Magnum's done.
Great main event, and that looks like the last of Funk in the title picture for now. That's okay, because this program with Rhodes is going to be money (even though I currently hate Rhodes). And with Magnum involved in the Mr. T angle, it makes sense to put Funk somewhere else for now.
Great show.

March 14, 1986 - WWA Prime Time Wrestling (Taped March 4, 1986 at Studio 2 in San Francisco, CA)
Tony Schiavone and Ray Stevens are in the booth to introduce tonight’s program. After the rundown Schiavone mentions that a lot went down at The Cow Palace and throughout the broadcast we’ll be seeing exclusive footage and interviews from the event. Stevens says he hopes we get to see a clip of him knocking out Gary Hart. Schiavone says that was certainly one of many memorable moments but first we see a clip from Piper’s Pit where Magnum TA & Mr. T got into a scuffle with Roddy Piper & Paul Orndorff. Following the clip, Roddy Piper heads to the ring for the opening match.
Roddy Piper pinned Bill Tabb after a back suplex in 0:03:48. Rating: * 3/4
Throughout the match Stevens & Piper spoke about Piper’s ally and new addition to the WWA roster, “Mr. Wonderful” Paul Orndorff. They talked about how accomplished Orndorff’s pro wrestling career has been up to this point and that in WWA alongside Piper there’s no telling what he could achieve. Following the match Ken Resnick attempted to get an interview at ringside. Before Resnick could ask a question Piper grabbed the microphone and introduced his best friend, Paul Orndorff! Orndorff arrived to the sound of boos from the studio audience but he and Piper were all smiles. Piper then excused Resnick and conducted the interview himself. Piper says earlier today he signed the contract to face Magnum TA for the WWA Heavyweight Championship on April 19th at the Cow Palace. Orndorff says Piper already has a target on his back and when he becomes Champion on April 19th he needs a guy like Mr. Wonderful to watch his back. Orndorff then puts over Magnum as a guy who never backs down from a challenge and he challenges Magnum to a match in 3 weeks at the Selland Arena on March 29th. The duo closes out the interview by burying Mr. T’s character, claiming he’s the rudest and most disrespectful guest to ever appear on Piper’s Pit. They agree that Mr. T will never show his face at another WWA event.
Schiavone and Stevens talk about the challenge saying that after what happened at the Cow Palace they’re sure Magnum would love to step into the ring with Orndorff. Magnum is scheduled to appear next week and hopefully we’ll get his response to the challenge. Stevens then requests to see footage of him punching Gary Hart but they’re interrupted by Hart himself. Hart is sporting a black eye and admits he got knocked out but One Man Gang defeated Stevens’ guy, King Tonga, and that’s all the really matters. Hart then says no one can stop One Man Gang and challenges Stevens to pick another guy. Stevens looks pretty aggravated before he says he doesn’t need to pick anyone because he’ll do it himself! Hart and Schiavone both look surprised. Hart says he hopes Stevens has a good retirement fund set up because March 29 the One Man Gang will end Ray Stevens' career.
The Midnight Rockers (Marty Jannetty and Shawn Michaels) defeated Brodie Chase and Mike Simani when Michaels pinned Simani after a flying dropkick in 0:06:17. Rating: **
At The Cow Palace, The Midnight Rockers held their own against the House of Humperdink. Only because Eadie used a foreign object they lost the match and their chance at the Tag Team Titles. The loss doesn’t appear to have slowed them down, though, because tonight they were rocking and rolling on their way to a win. They should be back in the title hunt in no time.
After the match we cut to a clip from the end of the show in the Cow Palace. Ken Resnick joined Magnum TA, Mr. T, and Dusty Rhodes in the locker room where they were celebrating Magnum’s successful title defense. Magnum says there’s no stopping his momentum, especially with these guys by his side. Dusty Rhodes then took over the mic and rapped about Magnum being the Champion the WWA has been longing for. He says he may not be under contract to wrestle for WWA but let it be known that when his friend Magnum calls and says he needs backup “The American Dream” will be there.
As the clip ended Terry Funk stormed the booth with Schiavone and Stevens. He’s wild and completely out of control saying that he wants Dusty Rhodes! He says he doesn’t care if it’s in the ring, in the parking lot, in California, or anywhere else! He grabs Schiavone by the collar and repeats he wants Dusty!
Terry Funk defeated Jerry Monte with the Spinning Toe Hold in 0:04:36. Rating: ** 1/2
Funk was a wildman, hurling chairs into the ring even before the match started. He was so wild that he not only almost got himself disqualified, but he was almost pinned by Monte several times. He finally got somewhat under control long enough to put Monte away the Spinning Toe Hold. He again shouted at the top of his lungs that he wants Dusty! He even grabbed the time keeper and told him to get him Dusty. Funk has lost it!
Schiavone and Stevens spoke of the rivalry between Jake Roberts and Steve Williams. They said nothing was settled at The Cow Palace because Steve Williams never showed up. They have no idea why but hope to find out next week because Williams will be in the studio to compete against Sheepherder Luke.
Jake Roberts pinned Perry Jackson with the DDT in 0:04:06. Rating: ** 1/4
During the match Roberts cut an insert promo saying he knew Williams wouldn’t show up to wrestle him. He says he almost ended Williams career with the DDT and that Williams was better off at home in bed than risking long term injury getting in the ring with him. He adds that he also thinks Williams has a fear of snakes as holds his python up to the camera. Just as the promo ends Roberts wins his match the dreaded DDT. He then throws the python on top of Jackson adding insult to injury.
Before the main event we see a clip from the Cow Palace of how Chris Adams beat Billy Jack Haynes to win the West Coast Championship. Shortly after the match, Resnick stands outside The Gentlemen’s Club locker room hoping to get an interview. As he knocks on the door a few women approach. The Hustler opens the door barely clothed and wearing a party hat. He waves the girls in and slams the door in Resnick’s face.
[Main Event] The Fantastics (Bobby Fulton and Tommy Rogers) and Kevin Von Erich defeated The Gentlemen's Club (Chris Adams, The Hustler and The Playboy) when Kevin Von Erich pinned Adams after a flying cross body press in 0:09:54. Rating: ** 1/4
The Gentlemen’s Club were quite arrogant here. They were still in celebration mode as they came to the ring, carrying confetti poppers and shooting them into girl’s faces. The girls were not amused. Not until the babyface trio hit the ring to put a stop to the party. This was a fast paced match with a lot of quick tags in and out, mostly from The Fantastics and Von Erich. Adams did the majority of the heavy lifting for his team as The Hustler & The Playboy made for better cheerleaders than wrestlers. As the match grew closer to an end, all attention turned to the curtain where Missy Hyatt was standing. She was scowling towards the ring, presumably angry with The Gentlemen’s Club for not just taking her man’s Championship but also for hurting her in the process. The Hustler and The Playboy dropped down off the ring apron to tease Hyatt while Adams made derogatory hip gyrations in her direction. During all of this Von Erich had time to climb to the top rope and when Adams turned around Von Erich came off with a cross body to pin the Champion! The Hustler & The Playboy quickly rushed back to the ring and dragged Adams out. This has to shoot Kevin Von Erich near the top of the Contenders list for the West Coast Title. And if this is any preview of what Adams reign will be like, well it looks like it might be a short one!
Circuit Information:
Join us next week as we’ll have more matches to announce for our show in Fresno! Also, Magnum TA, Paul Orndorff, Steve “Dr. Death” Williams, and more will be in action. Don’t miss it!

TV time!
I can't believe I didn't even notice Orndorff was a new debut last show. I guess I so closely link him with the Mr. T/Piper angle from real life that it didn't even click. Wow. Anyway, Piper getting another title shot makes sense since Mr. T obviously isn't going to be consistently around. And Orndorff/Magnum would be a great match.
As much as I am a fan of Ray Stevens, I can see his career ending officially on March 29. OMG is going to smash him.
Wonder who the Rockers feud with until they're back in the tag hunt.
That clip makes me wonder if you really are working Dusty unsigned. I could possibly re-sign him! I won't because he's a jerk, but still.
Terry Funk done lost his mind. This is when Funk is at his best - batshit insane.
Jake Roberts is the man. Give that man the title!
The Hustler is gross. They're all gross.
Great angle in the main event. Missy Hyatt gets a measure of revenge, and we look to have our next contender for the West Coast Title!
Good show... let's get moving!
