Here's the step-by-step. 1) Download the free VMWare Player: www.vmware.com/products/player/overview.html2) Install it 3) Open VMWare Player and click "Create New Virtual Machine" 4) Select to install the OS from a disc, an ISO, or leave the HDD blank. (If you have a WinXP disc, put it in your CD drive and select the disc option, or if ye be a dirty pirate bastard (YARRGGHH!!) pick the ISO option and select the ISO file.) Hit next. 5) It'll ask your for your CD key and Windows XP user information. Fill that in and hit next. 6) It'll ask you for a Virtual Machine name. Call it TNM4Lyfe! or don't...it's up to you. It'll also ask your where it can save the virtual machine, you don't need to change that unless you really want to. Hit next. 7) It'll ask you some questions about HDD space. It defaults to 40GB. That's more than enough for XP and TNM7. You could probably get away with 20gb. For the record, I just left it at the default 40. Pick how big you want your HDD to be and then hit next. 8) It'll pop up a hardware overview. Click customize hardware and find the "memory" section. It'll have a little slider which will be set to 512mb. This is on the low end for XP. Set it to anything between 1GB and 2GB. Since it's not 64bit, you don't need anything over 2GB. Click OK. 9) Click Finish and watch it do it's thing. 10) Play the virtual machine from the VMWare Player and download all the TNM stuff you want through the normal channels. 11) You've probably been playing TNM so long that you don't need me to walk you through the setup of that...

I followed your directions and have managed to get TNM7 SE to work through the virtual machine, but when I am running a card, it is going extremely slowly. Like a word every other minute. Is there any way that you know of to speed up performance of Windows XP through VM?

Is there any way that you know of to speed up performance of Windows XP through VM? You have to go to options and to "Match Speed". There you can type in a lower delay. Delay "5" is very fast.

Thanks, that worked, must have converted upon use in the VM. Was 32,231 or something like that.

LONG time TNM guy here, first post on this forum.
I tried this and it worked BUT TNM was really slow. I don't mean match progression; I mean everything was slow. 20 seconds to fully launch...select "Circuits" and wait 30 seconds, etc.
I blew out VMware Player and started over with Oracle VirtualBox and it worked like a charm.
Regarding XP: Just my own very humble opinion, I don't think anyone should have any qualms whatsoever about pirating 32 bit XP. It is no longer supported by Microsoft and you can't even buy it anymore. Hell, my company has a volume license agreement with MS and I can't even download it from the Volume Licensing web site legally. The moral argument against piracy is that you're taking money from the creators' pockets by doing it. Pirating XP, an obsolete OS that's no longer even sold, has no bearing to this argument.
I hear you can find XP keys on Youtube.
