River City Wrestling #816 20th Anniversary Show - PPV Winnipeg Convention Centre Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada December 4, 1999
We have an opening in-ring segment with Jim Brunzell, Baron von Raschke, Nick Bockwinkel, and Vic Gate who come out to a huge pop. They say that tonight they will unveil the traitor to River City Wrestling, the one working with and for the Indy Armoury crew, and they will eject him from RCW the hard way. Derek Graves comes out with his valet Sharon Montgomery and tells the world that Jack Larkin had no choice but to reinstate him or he would have been facing a sexual harassment case from Montgomery. He is then joined in the ring by Donovan Morgan who drops the bogus Lightweight title at Brunzell's feet, and then by Reckless Youth who goes to do the same with the real TV title, only to have Graves reach out and grab it. Graves and Youth begin to play tug of war with the belt. Now Manny Silva and Kurrgan come out to the ring and begin to menace Brunzell's crew...until Gary Goodridge and Bas Rutten hit the ring and all the baddies take off. Rutten though grabs the abandoned TV title and tells Goodridge that this is what he came for tonight.
Opening Bout Stan Baker vs Al Hardamann Referee: Kenny Jay - 20 Minute Time Limit **Hardamann is new to RCW fans. He has been a mainstay the past couple years in Central States Wrestling. Physically and style wise he would have elements of Tommy Dreamer/Robert Gibson/DDP. This is a match between two no nonsense grapplers. Baker offered a handshake to begin with but when Hardamann accepted Baker slapped him across the face. This resulted in an exchange of slaps, punches, kicks, and then Hardamann backed the bigger man into the corner. He ascended the second buckle and laid in punches despite the ref's count, until Baker bear hugged him out of the corner, walked him half way across the ring and then ran him back into the buckle. Baker held on and repeated this exercise on all the other 3 buckles before delivering a spinebuster in the middle of the ring, 1, 2, kickout. Baker went to work on the lower back of his opponent with forearms, knees, and a surfboard. Unable to gain a submission or 3 count he tossed Hardamann outside the ring and then blocked his re-entry twice. On the third time Hardamann nailed him with a forearm to the jaw, ran across the apron, came off the top with a flying clothesline. Inside now Hardamann nailed 3 more flying clotheslines, each from a different ring direction. He climbed to the top and came off with an elbow ala Randy Savage but only got a 2 count. Hardamann then weakened Baker with a sleeperhold, before nailing a Kudo Driver (Vertebreaker) which brought the fans to their feet. Cover, 1,2, kickout!! Hardamann tried to then follow up with a figure-four but Baker lashed out and kicked him right in the crotch. This was not seen by referee Kenny Jay as he was moving position at the time around Hardamann. Baker pulled Hardamann down, rolled him up, 1, 2, kickout. Back on their feet Baker whipped Hardamann to the corner, tried to follow in but Hardamann used the top strand to jump out of the way and Baker crashed into the corner. Hardamann whipped Baker into the ropes but telegraphed a back body drop and Baker drove a knee into the face of his opponent. Hardamann came up with both hands covering his nose, a fatal mistake, as Baker lashed out with the heart punch and dropped Hardamann like a bad habit. 1, 2, 3!! Excellent match to start the show, with two real good characters that got the fans into the action early. [Stan Baker defeated Al Hardamann after a heart punch at 9:44]
Bout #2 The Extremists: Ace Darling & Devon Storm vs Impact Players: Lance Storm & Justin Credible (/w Dawn Marie) Referee: Buddy Lane - 25 Minute Time Limit **Despite being 4 time RCW Tag champions and baby faces the Extremists were overshadowed by the Impact Players who received a tremendous ovation when coming to the ring. There were a couple initial feeling out pairings, and then Darling and Credible picked up the pace with some chain counters/reversals and a series of criss crosses. This ended when Credible used a screen of referee Buddy Lane to knee Darling in the crotch and then take him down with a Tornado DDT. Tag out to Lance Storm who went to work on the legs of Darling. The Players kept their opponent on his back and tagged in and out and went after the hamstrings, quads, and abs of Darling. They would use the 5 count to their advantage with double teams and finally Devon couldn't take it anymore and entered the ring. However, Buddy Lane worked to put Devon out of the ring and this allowed Credible to hold apart Darling's legs while Storm dropped a knee to the groin. Lance went to work then with a series of stomps and kicks circling the downed Darling, and then even got on all fours and nailed a crawling headbutt. Storm allowed Darling back on his feet only to nail a beautiful flying dropkick. Darling managed to get to his knees only to have Storm nail a snap kick to the back of the head. He dragged Darling to the corner and while he distracted Buddy Lane, Dawn Marie reached in and used the kendo stick to choke Darling. More double teams followed, until they made a mistake. They went for a double flying elbowsmash but Devon Storm managed to knock Lance off one buckle, and Darling managed to move out of the way from Credible's elbowdrop. Darling slowly made his way over to tag in Devon, but Dawn Marie came over and pulled Devon off the ring apron. Devon grabbed her by the hair, and this brought Lance over who tried to hit him in the back of the head with the kendo stick, but Devon moved out of the way and Lance nailed Dawn Marie instead. Devon then gave Lance a superkick, only to be taken out by Credible with a baseball slide, only to have him taken out by Darling with a head tope. All four men brawled outside the ring, and then back inside. We were about 7 minutes into the bout. It shook out to be Credible and Devon and Devon was lighting him up. Backed into a corner though as Devon tried to pull Credible out Dawn Marie had a cinch around his legs to stop it. Devon kept laying in chops to Credible's chest, then climbed the second rope only to have Credible explode out with an inverted atomic drop. Credible then nailed a dropkick and Devon walked right into a superkick from Lance who had entered the ring. Credible covered, 1, 2, Darling came in to break it up. All four men brawled again, and this time when it shook out to be Darling and Lance the Extremists took over the bout. Darling sent Lance to the ropes, kick in the gut, rocker dropper, front layout suplex, 2 count. Devon came in, standing moonsault 2 count. They then took turns working over Lance Storm but couldn't put him away. Credible entered the ring but he was intercepted by Buddy Lane. Dawn Marie tried to pass Credible the kendo stick but Darling reached down and the two grappled for it. Dawn Marie entered the ring and delivered a low blow to Darling. Devon entered the ring and grabbed Dawn Marie by the hair but Buddy Lane delivered a count so Devon let go and Dawn scrambled from the ring. However, this allowed Lance to climb to the top rope and come off for a bulldog on Darling who had suffered the nut shot. But Darling was able to catch him with a fist to the gut, and then deliver a DDT...the pin was broken up by Credible (who was the legal man anyway). Now we had another four man brawl. We were about 12 minutes into the bout. Credible slowed the bout down for a minute and worked a rear chinlock on Darling who eventually tried to elbow his way out of it, but was given a knee to the gut to end that. Credible then telegraphed a back bodydrop and Darling rolled him up with a sunset flip, 2 count, and then Credible nailed him with a clothesline. Lance tagged in and after a double team he nailed a series of measured kicks to his opponent Darling. Lance nailed a slingshot into the corner, followed by hotshot, 2 count, then went for a German suplex, but Darling put a bit extra into the flip, landed on his feet and then took Lance down with a clothesline. Darling tagged in and the two Storm fronts met in the middle of the ring exchanging punches, kicks, and then a criss cross series. Lance went to whip Devon into Credible but it was reversed and Lance knocked his own tag partner off the apron. Devon nailed Lance with a spinebuster and then Darling came off the top rope with a splash, cover 1, 2, kickout. Darling whipped Lance into the corner, but the Canadian used the chance to ascend to the top. However, Darling followed him in, pushing him so he crotched himself. Darling then took Lance off the top with a belly to back suplex, covered, 1, 2, Credible came in to break it up. We had another 4 man brawl. Buddy Lane tried to get control but unfortunately he ended up putting the Extremists at a disadvantage and Credible laid Darling across the second strand, and Lance ran along the apron and delivered a legdrop. Credible and Lance Storm took turns punishing Darling but couldn't put him away. Credible tried to whip Darling across the ring to receive a superkick from a waiting Lance, but Darling reversed it and sent Credible into the Extremists corner where he ate an elbow from Devon. They made the tag but Darling stayed around long enough to nail Credible with a jawbreaker, and hold his legs down as Devon nailed him with a five star splash. Lance broke up the pin attempt. Another four man brawl, and Dawn Marie managed to reach in and pull the feet out from under Darling, and pull him out of the ring. Devon was distracted, and Credible nailed him with a running clothesline from behind, then a facebuster. The Impact Players then nailed a spiked piledriver and Credible made the pin. Excellent match! Two great matches in a row, but two in a row where the bad guys won (although in this case the fans were pretty split 50/50, and a huge ECDub chant went up at the end). [Impact Players defeated The Extremists by pinfall when Credible pinned D. Storm after a spiked piledriver at 20:02]
Bout #3 Central States Heavyweight Title Match Derrick Darkstorm (C) vs Sam Holiday Referee: Kenny Jay - 30 Minute Time Limit **First match for both these competitors in RCW, and the Winnipeg fans were not as familiar with them as they were with the ECW competitors. The best way to describe this bout is to describe the style of the two competitors. Darkstorm is a bit of a unique cat. He is tall and lanky, around 6'5 260 (think Kendall Windham), looks a bit "goth" with long flowing dark straight hair, and he moves very methodically and conservatively, perhaps a bit like early Undertaker. But the strangest thing about the CSW champ is his style of keeping his opponent close throughout the bout. Once he closes he prefers to keep his opponent within arm's length, either standing or if on the mat on top. He attacks with his long, lanky limbs as if he is all elbows and knees, but also headbutts, armlocks, full nelson, etc. When he does eventually go for a higher impact move like a suplex, its always one where he holds on like a rolling German, or a Northern lights. He uses his height for leverage and tries to overwhelm and wear down his opponents who tend to just cover their head and hold on. It isn't the most exciting style for fans but it has its moments and the fans give him lots of heat as they share the opponent's frustrations. On the other hand Sam Holiday is a true Cowboy, his job before he became a wrestler, and he himself would be described as tall and lanky but is exceeded in both those aspects by the champ. Holiday has a traditional offence where he likes to whip his opponents off the ropes, hit suplexes, clotheslines, and coming off the second buckle. So Darkstorm controlled the first five minutes of this bout with his smothering attack while Holiday took over for about the next 3 minutes. The fans went from quiet to start, to irate and restless, to hostile towards the champ, and when the Cowboy turned things around they were eating out of the palm of his hand. Holiday nailed a piledriver to get a 2 count, and then clotheslined the champ over the top rope. The action then went outside where the two brawled and Darkstorm looked for space for the first time. Holiday went for a piledriver on the announce table but Darkstorm back flipped him all the way to the ground. Holiday though would return the favour by delivering a spinebuster slam on the champ right on the steel steps. Back inside it looked like Holiday was ready to end things, when we had a ref bump. Darkstorm managed to rake the eyes of the challenger and then took out a pair of brass knuckles. He swung at Holiday but the challenger ducked and took the champ up for a belly to back suplex. But on the way down Darkstorm nailed Holiday in the head with the knux. He covered, but no ref. Darkstorm tossed Holiday into the corner of the ring. Holiday was busted wide open. Darkstorm hit him two more times with the knux before Al Hardamann, his Central States pal, came to the ring with a chair and ~waffled~ Darkstorm in the back. He then nailed him across the head laying him out. Hardamann then checked on Holiday and then the ref. But as Holiday was recovering Stan Baker slid under the ropes and attacked Hardamann with a clotheslines from behind, before nailing Holiday with the heart punch. The ref woke up, saw the carnage and called for the bell. [Derrick Darkstorm and Sam Holiday battled to a no-contest at 11:07] [Derrick Darkstorm retained the CSW Heavyweight Title]
Post-Match the four men continued to battle but Darkstorm's heart wasn't in it and he bailed, grabbed his title, and fled. Seeing that Baker also decided to flee.
Bout #4 North American Women's Title Match Strawberry Fields (C) vs Nikki Kixxx Referee: Jennifer Greaves - 30 Minute Time Limit **a bit of mixed messaging in this one with the champ. When we last saw her with the belt at the end of 1998 she was a babyface. When she returned it was with the indy fed so presumably as a heel. However, she returned to defend her title against the stuck-up, arrogant, heel Kixxx. So just to make sure the fans knew where it all stood Kixxx attacked the champ before the opening bell and choked her with her warm up jacket. Referee Jennifer Greaves called for the bell and tried to help Fields get out of her half-on warm-up jacket which was constricting her movements and making her easy prey for the challenger's onslaught of kicks, punches, hip toss, drop kick. Fields rolled out of the ring and took off her jacket. Kixxx was right on her but Fields fired back now, and threw the challenger into the guardrail. Back inside Fields attacked with a 70's style offence of hip tosses, dropkicks, back bodydrop, and elbowdrops, before putting on a camel clutch. The match slowed down for a minute with the clutch, and then a front chancery. When business picked up again it was Kixxx taking back control with a kick to the gut and a DDT. Kixxx sent the champ to the ropes and went for a superkick but Fields blocked the leg, ducked under and then delivered an electric chair drop. The champ went to work with some spinning toe holds, then into an Indian death lock, then into a bridge for more leverage. The challenger managed to kick and roll her way out of it, and tried to take a powder. Fields though caught Kixxx halfway out of the ring, but the challenger fed her a back elbow. Kixxx then impressed with the octopus hold until Greaves 5 count caused her to have to relinquish. Kixxx though pulled Fields out of the ring and began to batter her around ringside. Back inside Kixxx came off the top buckle with a missile dropkick for 1, 2, kickout. A criss cross segment followed with Kixxx ending up going for a crossbody block only to have Fields roll through it and get an inside cradle for the victory! [Strawberry Fields defeated Nikki Kixxx by pinfall after an inside cradle at 8:48] [Strawberry Fields retained the North American Women's Title]
Bout #5 South African Wrestling Federation Tag Team Title Match Dennis Cale & Ken Van Beselaere (C) vs The Spinebusters: Jerry Orth & Bryan Caruthers Referee: Buddy Lane - 30 Minute Time Limit **The fans don't know much about the champs, for example that they have held the belts uninterrupted for nearly 2 years, but they seemed congenial enough as they made their way to the ring taking time out to high-five the fans. Opposed to them were two well known salt-of-the-earth cheats who had once held the RCW tag belts, albeit it briefly. Both teams worked old school tag team spots, and the psychology of this bout would be akin to watching The Midnight Express take on Arn & Tully. There was a long feeling out process which also helped cement the roles of baby face and heel for the fans. Then KVB played Ricky Morton for a while as Orth and Caruthers split the ring in half, worked the legs, and used the 5 count to their advantage. However, they went for a doomsday device too soon, and KVD managed to counter it with flying headscisoors and make the hot tag. Now it was Bryan Caruthers turn to play Ricky Morton, which is a change for the 'busters as typically it is the smaller Orth who gets the short end of the stick. Orth saved his partner's bacon a couple times before getting a legit tag but the point of interest here is that the champs had really done a number on the right arm of Caruthers. We were about 7 minutes into this bout and the Boomers in the audience sat back and enjoyed while opening their wallets so their offspring could go grab a Coke and popcorn. Cale was the biggest of the four men and used that size advantage to ground Orth. Orth fought back with a Roman Greco thumb to the eye that didn't really care how big you were, then a nut shot where being big was definitely a disadvantage. Orth then grounded Cale and worked over a leg, but when he eventually went for a figure-four Cale was able to kick out. Orth though was able to stop Cale from making a tag with a running boot to the skull, and then roughly dragged him over to the corner to tag in Cauthers. As Orth held Cale down Caruthers came off the second buckle with a knee to the inside of the champ's quad. Caruthers worked a series of spinning leg holds, stomps to the leg, smashing the knee off the mat, and then a leg spreader. But when Caruthers let Cale to his feet and the two exchanged float arounds on waist cinches, it became obvious that Caruther's arm was limiting him. Cale took him over with a belly to back, and made the tag out to KVB. Beselaere went to work on Caruthers' arm but he got out with a rake to the eyes and tagged in Orth. KVB though was fresh and out battled Orth. The champ though made the mistake of coming off the ropes too close to Caruthers who held the top rope down for him so the champ could take an unplanned break on the hard concrete floor. For the first time in the bout things broke down and we had a four man brawl outside the ring. When it shook back into the ring we got the legal men KVB and Orth as Buddy Lane did an admirable job of regaining law and order. We were now about 13 minutes into the bout. KVB out battled Orth again and made the tag in to Cale who wore the smaller man down with a standing bearhug, followed by a belly to belly suplex, and then into another bearhug, and then again a belly to belly. Cale tagged out to KVB who continued to work over the back of Orth with forearm shots, then a standing surfboard, and then a torture rack. This was too much for Caruthers who came in and kicked Cale in the gut. This brought in KVB, but Caruthers feigned leaving the ring so Buddy Lane tried to corral KVB. With that distraction Caruthers came back and nailed Cale from behind with a low blow, and then Orth nailed a running clothesline. Lane was back into it now but the challengers paid him no heed. They scooped up Cale and brought him down with a double team brainbuster that sickened the weak of heart. Cover, 1, 2, broken up by KVB. This time the baby faces played the same trick with KVB feigning leaving the ring and when Buddy Lane had to restrain Caruthers, the champs nailed Orth with a double back drop. Orth though managed to roll over and tag in Caruthers. We were now about 19 minutes into the match as Cale and Caruthers met in the middle of the ring and exchanged punches. It was obvious though that Caruthers was still at a disadvantage, mainly fighting with his off hand only because of the weakened right arm. Caruthers went for a kick but Cale caught his leg, spun him around, and then clotheslined him out of his boots (figuratively). Cale nailed a side slam, tagged out to KVB who leapt into the ring, over the top rope, with his landing being a legdrop on the downed Caruthers. Cover, 1, 2, foot over the ropes. Another four man brawl broke out, and this time it worked against the challengers when Lane was tied up putting Cale out of the ring, Caruthers made a tag in to Orth but it was not seen by Lane. Caruthers was forced back into the ring and KVB went right after the arm. Armbreaker, then a take over suplex landing right on the arm, followed by a cross armbreaker. Within seconds Caruthers tapped out, too quickly for Orth to make the save. [Dennis Cale & Ken Van Beselaere defeated The Spinebusters by pinfall when Beselaere submitted Caruthers to a cross armbreaker at 22:11] [Dennis Cale & Ken Van Beselaere retained the South African Wrestling Federation Tag Team Titles]
Jim Brunzell is in the ring, being interviewed by Joe Aiello. Joe congratulates Brunzell on bringing back "real" wrestling to the fans, that tonight's matches have managed to be extraordinarily entertaining while keeping everyone's pants on, and no circus clowns in site. Brunzell of course doesn't want to take the credit but does say that he, Raschke, and Bockwinkel have always shared a common vision for what River City Wrestling is about; and that vision comes from the work of people like Marty Goldstein and The Destroyer. Brunzell though does have something to actually tell the people, and that is they are very close to signing a new TV deal. In fact he can say they will be back on air for a one hour program in many markets next month, including Winnipeg where it will be carried on CKY-TV. The fans cheer the news. They are interrupted though when Kurrgan and Manny Silva come down towards the ring with the mysterious cloaked figure behind them. The cloaked figure speaks but its kind of garbled, he must be using some sort of voice box. He tells Brunzell that their vision is old and tired, and that if River City Wrestling is to survive they need to think independent and just let things flow. Chaos will reign, and the ratings will soar. People love a good car crash. Kurrgan and Silva get up on the apron and it looks like Brunzell may be in some trouble. <<<cue "IronMan" by Black Sabbath>>> The crowd goes absolutely nuts! The biggest ovation in an RCW venue in years as the Road Warriors Hawk & Animal come from a back entrance, through the crowd and into the ring. Hawk grabs the mic..."Oh, what a Rushhhhh". Animal then chimes in and tells Kurrgan and Silva that unless they want their cloaked Daddy to have to fight one on three tonight they better back the hell off. Hawk says this is exactly why the Warriors are here tonight. To win the tag titles from a bunch of beer hall rejects, and to watch Brunzell's back. It appears as if this has done the trick and the bad guys are backing off, until Tatanka and Vic Grimes (the tag champs) slide into the ring with steel chairs and start whacking the crap out of the Warriors. Kurrgan and Silva join them and even with Brunzell it's a four on three beatdown as the cloaked figure directs traffic. Baron von Raschke, Vic Gate, and Nick Bockwinkel hit the ring to send everyone scattering but by now the Road Warriors are down on their knees, and both of them are bleeding from head wounds. This does not look good as their title match was up next!!
Bout #6 RCW Tag Team Title Match Tatanka & Vic Grimes (C) vs Road Warriors: Hawk & Animal Referee: Kenny Jay - 60 Minute Time Limit **The Warriors were able to towel off but they couldn't stop the bleeding. So when the bell sounded they went right after the champs, both of them. They took the action outside, and for a couple minutes they risked disqualification as they fought inside and outside of the ring. For the most part the Warriors owned the champs, and a DQ was unlikely considering the Indy crew had few friends in RCW. Finally it sorted out to Hawk against Grimes, and Grimes was also now wearing colour. Hawk just kept pounding on Grimes with double axhandles, refusing to let him up. Tag out to Animal who did the same with kicks before putting on a camel clutch. Tatanka though was able to enter the ring and clothesline Animal off, only to run into a clothesline from Hawk. Hawk then tossed Tatanka out of the ring, only to have Grimes do the same to him. Animal was back up but Grimes raked his eyes, kick to the gut, bodyslam, and then came off the ropes with a big splash. He covered but only got a 2 count as Hawk and Tatanka battled outside the ring. Animal went to make a tag but Hawk wasn't there and Grimes crunched him in the corner. But when Grimes went for a boot to the chest Animal grabbed his leg, and then walked his way to his feet, still holding onto the leg. Animal spun Grimes around, but instead of attacking him he just stared him down. Grimes was taken aback and backed up a couple steps to the ropes where Hawk was now waiting for him after having powerslammed Tatanka. Hawk punched Grimes in his bleeding head, and then Animal delivered a powerslam, covered for 1, 2, foot on the ropes. Hawk got tagged in and came off the top with a clothesline, trying to decapitate Grimes. But his follow through took him too close to the ropes and Tatanka gave him a tomahawk chop to the head. Hawk then tossed Grimes into the corner telling him to tag out to Tatanka. At first Tatanka refused the tag but when Grimes begged him, he finally relented. Tatanka actually got off first with a kick to the gut and came off the ropes with a tomahawk chop. But when he came off the ropes again for a flying faceslam, Hawk just pushed him off and then delivered a big boot to the face. Tag out to Animal who worked over Tatanka, before both men tagged out and we had Grimes against Hawk again. They exchanged punches in the middle of the ring, not a battle Grimes was going to win. Grimes though got in a shot to the throat and then draped Hawk over the middle strand, and choked him until the ref backed him off. This allowed Tatanka though to run along the apron and leap to the ground, hot shotting Hawk's throat off the ropes as he went. What he didn't know though was that Animal had come around and he knocked Tatanka over with a big running clothesline. Inside the ring Grimes set up Hawk and came off the second buckle with a splash, cover, 1, 2, kickout! Outside the ring Tatanka grabbed a chair, tossed it to Animal who caught it. Tatanka went for a dropkick to the chair, but Animal just side stepped him, and Tatanka hit nothing but air. When the Native American star got to his feet Animal ran into him nailing him with the chair. Inside, Grimes went to the top rope this time for the splash, but Hawk met him there, keeping him there with a few punches before taking him down to the mat with a superplex. Animal now rolled back into the ring and hoisted the big man onto his shoulders (quite a feat). Hawk came flying off the top rope with the clothesline to finish off the doomsday device. Tatanka was still laid out. Hawk covered, 1, 2, 3!! New Champions!! This is the Road Warriors fist time winning the RCW Tag Titles. The fans are excited not only about these legends winning the belts but also about the possibility that it might mean an extended stay in the territory! [Road Warriors defeated Tatanka & Vic Grimes by pinfall when Hawk pinned Grimes after the doomsday device at 10:06] [Road Warriors win the RCW Tag Team Titles]
Bout #7 Fatal Five Way Elimination Match No Countout - No Disqualification RCW Television Title Match Gary Goodridge (C) vs Bas Rutten vs Derek Graves (/w Sharon Montgomery) vs Donovan Morgan vs Reckless Youth Referee: Jennifer Greaves - No Time Limit **While it was no countout and no DQ, falls could only be scored in the ring, which allowed for having only one referee who stayed in the ring the entire time to count falls and ask about submissions. The brawl started before the opening bell and Goodridge and Rutten found themselves back to back fighting off the wolves. It then shook down to Rutten battling Morgan and Youth inside the ring while Goodridge and Graves tried to tear each other apart outside the ring. Outside Goodridge was getting the better but Montgomery jumped on his back. Ever the gentleman the champ seperated himself from her but somewhat gingerly which left him open to Graves locking on a full nelson from behind. Inside the two smaller men used a series of fast moves, including feints and slides to keep Rutten off balance until they could pick him apart like a pack of wild dogs. They finally made a mistake though as Morgan had Rutten in a full nelson for Youth to attack but Bas kicked his legs up, walking them up the body of Youth until he rested his feet on his shoulders, then deftly lifted one leg up and conked Youth on the top of the head. He then slid out of the full nelson, went around and took Morgan down with a series of three rolling German suplexes. Meanwhile outside the ring Graves had been taking it to the champ and even tried to get a pin, but with no ref only Montgomery was around to count. Rutten left the ring to go after Graves, only to have Morgan nail him with a head tope...but Rutten caught him mid air..only to have Youth sail over the top rope and landing on Morgan knocked them both down to the ground. Coincidently enough Graves and Goodridge now found themselves battling inside the ring, while the other three battled outside. Graves went to send Goodridge to the buckle but the champ reversed it, sending Graves chest first in, and then took him over with a belly to back, bridge, for 1, 2, Kickout. Back on their feet Goodridge went for a clothesline but Graves countered with a crucifix 1, 2 kickout. Outside Rutten was tossing both Morgan and Youth around pretty good. He crotched each of them onto the guardrail, then as they perched on it in pain he smacked their heads together. We were 5 minutes into the bout with no eliminations yet. Inside the ring Goodridge took Graves down with a single leg, and then put on his leglock finisher. Donovan Morgan though entered the ring and put a sleeper on Goods, while Rutten and Youth continued to brawl outside. The champ refused to break his hold and fought off the drowsiness until he let go, spun around and dropped backward driving Morgan onto Graves. Rutten was now in the ring, but when Youth tried to join him Rutten knocked him off the apron. Goodridge wrapped an arm around the head of each of Morgan and Graves and attempted a double DDT, but they held on, and hoisted the champ up. They tried to take him over but Rutten was there to stop the momentum, and hold him down. Goodridge was then able to deliver the double DDT. Goods covered Morgan while Bas covered Graves, 1, 2, double kickout. Youth was now climbing to the top buckle but before he could come off Rutten sent Graves into the buckle, resulting on Youth crotching himself on top. Rutten and Goodridge began to double team Morgan now, as Youth recovered and got on the shoulders of Graves. But Graves was having nothing to do with that and he backed into the ropes and dumped Youth over the top, with the momentum sending him over as well with a sickening thud. Goodridge and Rutten then worked over Morgan with a double team front layout suplex, then Rutten hit a backbreaker as Goodridge came off the second buckle with a knee to the head. Rutten nailed a tombstone piledriver and the champ looked on as the pin was made 1, 2, 3 [Donovan Morgan was eliminated by Bas Rutten after a tombstone piledriver at 7:16] And then there were four. Graves and Youth were still trying to get up, as Montgomery helped Graves to his feet. Inside Goods and Rutten looked like they were contemplating leaving the ring to go after them but then they just sort of looked at each other, smiled, and started to circle. Collar elbow hook-up, Rutten dropped and monkey flipped Goods, and then got a rear mount, and the two twisted around the mat. Graves entered the ring and when the separated he nailed Goodridge with a running boot. Rutten went for a spear but before he could do that Youth was on his feet and dove in front of Rutten knocking him down. Graves then delivered a crushing knee to the back of the skull. Youth took Goodridge back down with spinning headscissors, then dropkicked him out of the ring, before following with a plancha. Inside the ring Graves pulled Rutten up with a full nelson, then slammed him to the mat, covered, 1, 2, grabbed a handful of tights 3!! [Bas Rutten was eliminated by Derek Graves after a full nelson slam (and a handful of tights) at 8:42] Then there were three. Graves decided to wait patiently inside the ring, conserving his energy as Youth and Goodridge battle outside. Goodridge was the much better brawler and the bigger man but Youth had the advantage and pressed it. He chocked the champ, threw him into the guardrail, choked him on the top of the guardrail, and then fish hooked his mouth, all the while both Graves and the ref waited inside. Montgomery fetched a water bottle and brought it to Graves to enjoy some refreshment. Youth beat down Goodridge with a TV monitor, choked him with the cable, and stomped away. He then went for a move where he ran beside the champ toward the guardrail. He was going to jump over the guardrail while forcing Goods full speed into the rail; except the champ was able to push him off last second sending Youth into a pile of chairs. Goodridge soon followed after him and the two began to swing chairs at each other. Finally Goodridge was able to jab a chair into the gut of Youth, and when he grabbed onto it, the champ took him down with a facebuster onto the chair. Now Graves took action leaving the ring. He ran by Goodridge but not before delivering a running knee to the head, and then grabbed Youth. He bought Youth back into the ring and delivered a sit out powerbomb, 1, 2, Youth smashed his heels into Graves to get the break. Scrambling back on their feet Graves went for a kick but Youth countered with a dragon screw. He then nailed Graves with a standing dropkick as the bigger man sat on his haunches. Youth then followed this up with the running neck snap (ala Curt Hennig) covered, 1, 2, Sharon Montgomery came in and pulled Youth off. It was no DQ but Montgomery was trapped. Youth grabbed her by the hair and was about to do something dastardly when Goodridge appeared behind him, and took him down with an inverted DDT. Goodridge covered and got the 1, 2, 3!! [Reckless Youth was eliminated by Gary Goodridge after an inverted DDT at 13:35] And then there were two. Goodridge got to his feet and saw Graves preparing himself across the ring. But he had forgotten Sharon Montgomery behind him and the valet dropped to her knees and delivered a low blow. Graves pounced with a running kneestrike, covered, 1, 2, foot on the ropes. He covered again, 1, foot on the ropes, but Montgomery pushed it off unseen by the ref, 2, kickout! Graves slowed things down and worked a rear chinlock. He then drove a series of knees into the back of the champ before putting on a Boston crab. As the champ inched his way and reached out for the bottom rope, Montgomery was able to pull it away a couple inches. Seconds later and he was able to reach the ropes only to have Montgomery hit him in the head with her high heel. Graves pulled the champ back into the middle of the ring and applied the crab again. This time after an excruciating 30 seconds Goodridge was able to bridge out of it, and then come up with the ankle lock!! Graves was in big trouble. Normally Montgomery is not this active in the corner but tonight she seemed hell bent on her man winning back the TV title he felt was rightly his, that was stripped from him due to injury. She entered the ring and again nailed the champ in the head with her high heel. It was no DQ, but referee Jennifer Greaves had seen enough. She kicked the leg out from under Montgomery, the one with the heel, sending her tumbling to the ground. She then yanked her to her feet and tossed her out of the ring. In the meantime Goodridge had applied the ankle lock again and looked like this could be it. However, Graves was able to find the abandoned high heel and stamped a size 6 into the thigh of the champ to get a break. Greaves quickly retrieved the shoe and the ref tossed it from the ring. Both men were up now and ready to finish this. They ran at each other meeting half way, colliding in cross bodies. They tumbled to the ground and had a male version of a rolling catfight (tomcat fight?). Goodridge got the better of it but when he tried to drop an elbow the challenger rolled out of the way. Graves went to work on the champ with some kicks, then a bodyslam in the corner. He went to the top rope and came off with a fist drop...but Goodridge lifted his leg and caught Graves right in the chin. Goods tried to send Graves into the ropes but it was reversed, but Goods ducked under a clothesline, came off the far ropes but Graves was already closing the distance and the two men collided, and both went down. Greaves applied no count, but it felt like an eternity as the crowd implored for fellow Canadian Goodridge to get to his feet first. They were both up, Graves went for a punch, blocked and Goods delivered a stinging hook. Graves punched again, another block, and another hook. Then Goodridge nailed the challenger with a great looking standing dropkick. Goodridge sent Graves to the ropes and took his momentum over with a powerslam, cover, 1, 2, kickout. Goodridge tossed Graves into the corner and then started in with a series of knees. When he went to whip Graves out of the corner though Graves detoured slightly from his path, just enough to nail referee Jennifer Greaves with a shoulderblock, knocking her down and out. Goodridge nailed a Hurrancanrana, went for the pin..but there was nobody there to count. Montgomery entered the ring again, this time with a steel chair. She nailed Goodridge over the back. It wasn't enough though to do too much damage, so after a second of stretching the champ turned around to face her. She tossed the chair right at the champ, but he just caught it as she bailed out of the ring. He turned around, and tossed the chair at Graves who caught it. Goodridge then nailed him with a superkick, driving the chair into his face. Referee Greaves was now up but it was no DQ, so when Goodridge covered Graves right on top of the steel chair, she counted, 1, 2, 3!! [Derek Graves was eliminated by Gary Goodridge after a superkick (aided by a steel chair) at 21:00] [Gary Goodridge retained the RCW Television Title]
After the bout Joe Aiello entered the ring the ring to present the title belt to Gary Goodridge. He said that he knows Goodridge is a warrior at heart, and it ate at him to have won the title the way he did by default at Nothing Else Matters. But maybe it was a good thing that the belt had been stolen and he never got to hold it - until now. Now that he felt like he could take the title feeling like he fully deserved it. With that Aiello presents the champ with his TV title that he holds up high to a nice ovation from the crowd.
Bout #8 Six-Man Tag Match Jim Brunzell, Baron von Raschke, & Vic Gate (/w Nick Bockwinkel) vs Kurrgan, Manny Silva, & Mystery Partner Referee: Kenny Jay - 30 Minute Time Limit **The familiar strums of "Born to Run" by Bruce Springsteen, the favourite of Brunzell, brings out the legends. When the baddies come out there are only two of them. They say their leader will be out when he is ready and to start the match. It soon becomes apparent that while Vic Gate is still a spry mid-30's overall their team lacks the power and youth to compete against their opponents, even short handed. Brunzell plays Ricky Morton for a stretch, as does Vic Gate. Then the good guys make a comeback that culminates in the Baron getting his clawhold on Kurrgan. But the big Aacadian is such a monster he just scoops up Raschke and slams him to the mat to get the break. Raschke is able to tag out to Gate but he fairs no better than he did the first time. Kurrgan absorbs some punches and a dropkick, and unceremoniously chokeslams Gate. He follows up with a tombstone, 1, 2, he picks him up. Tag out to Silva. The mad Hawaiian nails his finisher the wheelbarrow suplex, cover 1, 2, he picks him up. This angers Raschke and Brunzell who enter the ring, and we have a donnybrook. At first the legends do well, but when they try to whip their opponents into each other its reversed. Still Raschke and Brunzell manage to slam on the breaks, but when they turn around Kurrgan nails Brunzell with a chokeslam while Silva nails Raschke with the wheelbarrow suplex. They toss both men out of the ring. Bockwinkel tries to grab Kurrgan from the apron, but Kurrgan pushes him off to the floor below. Vic Gate is still not moving. The mysterious cloaked figure now comes to the ring. He enters the ring while still wearing his cloak. He grabs Gate by the hair, slaps him across the face...Gate rolls him up, inside cradle, 1, 2, 3...quick count by Kenny Jay but its a victory!! [Jim Brunzell, Baron von Raschke, & Vic Gate defeated Kurrgan, Manny Silva, and Mystery partner by pinfall when Vic Gate pinned the mystery partner after an inside cradle at 10:24]
Kurrgan and Silva enter the ring with disbelief at what just happened. But the good guys enter the ring too. Bockwinkel delivers a low blow to Kurrgan from behind, then Jim Brunzell nails the monster with his flying dropkick, while Bock had kneeled behind the monster. The Acadian stumbles over Bockwinkel and lands awkwardly against the ropes and Bockwinkel finishes it by pushing him out of the ring. In the meantime Raschke had put the clawhold on Silva, and unlike the monster Kurrgan, the Hawaiian is unable to fight his way out of it. Eventually he makes his way to the ropes and also exits to get out of the move. Vic Gate grabs the mystery man by the ankles and holds him long enough until Bockwinkel comes over and drops a knee across his back, and then puts on a full nelson. Jim Brunzell then comes over and removes the cloak and mask he had on underneath...to reveal..Lord Zoltan! Zoltan aka Ken Jugen is the leader. It's honestly a bit of a disappointment for the crowd but at least the mystery has come to completion (other than an explanation). Brunzell throws Zoltan into the waiting arms of his two monsters while the legends celebrate their victory with referee Kenny Jay.
After a few minute break, Jim Brunzell, Baron von Raschke, Vic Gate, and Nick Bockwinkel return to the ring as representatives of River City Wrestling. They start by thanking the fans for sticking with them for an incredible 20 years. Brunzell says there is some uncertainty as to RCW's exact future but rest assured we will return to a ring near you in 2000!! Think about that, a new millenium, 2000, who would have thought. Bockwinkel thanks their two partners here tonight, South African Wrestling Federation and Central States Wrestling. Bock calls to the ring two representatives from SAWF, Vice-President Selita Segal and Road Agent Dale Kuentz. Segal is an absolute blonde bombshell and gets a nice ovation from the men in the crowd. And then he brings out two reps from Central States; President Frank Dusek, and then Head booker Terry Taylor. With those 8 people in the ring they also introduce some others at ringside. RCW Hall of fame committee member Stan Mullen (the long time President of the RCW fan club), along with RCW hall of famers Marty Goldstein, Chris Lyon, Mike Valiant, Tawney England and Corrie England.
Main Event Title vs Title - There Must Be A Winner - No Countout, NO DQ RCW Heavyweight Title vs SAWF Heavyweight Title Bobby Duncum Jr (RCW Champion) vs Linley Tolbert (SAWF Champion) Referee: Buddy Lane - No Time Limit **Prior to the match The Destroyer and Chris Lyon entered the ring to shake Duncum's hand and wish him luck. Selita Segal and Dale Kuentz did the same for Linley Tolbert. Announcer Joe Aiello told the crowd there would be no cop out tonight. No double DQ, no countouts, no DQ, there must be a winner, and one of these two men will leave with both belts! That got the fans attentions. The match actually began with Lane prompting the two to shake hands, which they did. The match began very quick, no feeling out process, each man trying to end it quickly. Tolbert tried for a sleeperhold but Duncum smashed him back into the corner. He also went for a figure-four but was kicked off. For his own part Duncum laid in some nasty knee lifts but when he went for his flying bulldog Tolbert pushed him off. That was a furious first 3 minutes, and now each man took opposite corners for a breather and to rethink their strategy. Duncum decided the best thing to do was to turn it into a slug fest. Once Tolbert realized he wasn't going to win that kind of exchange he did a single leg takedown and took the match to the mat. Duncum was still flaying arms and legs as Tolbert kept applying an armbar. Duncum got out 3 times with Tolbert continually applying, until Duncum got to the ropes. At this point Tolbert kicked Duncum out of the ring. The big Texan though grabbed Tolbert's legs and pulled him out of the ring; at least on the second attempt. The first attempt to pull him out caused him to catch his throat across the bottom strand. Duncum threw Tolbert at the ringsteps, that Tolbert tried to clear but caught his knee on. Duncum went right to work on the knee with stomps, twists, and then delivering a kneebreaker right on the ring steps. There was no hurry to get back into the ring because it was no countout. Buddy Lane left the ring though to try and persuade both men to get back into the ring. Duncum tried to pin Tolbert outside the ring but Lane wouldn't count so Duncum took it back inside. That delay cost him though as Tolbert was able to fight back inside with a chop to the throat, then taking the bout to the ground again where he wouldn't have to stand on his knee. He worked a rear chinlock, then into an STF. Duncum got to the ropes, and Tolbert broke and then stood and walked to test his leg. The two squared off again, and this time Duncum grabbed Tolbert by the hair, punched him twice in the gut, then drove him face first into the mat. He then rubbed his face across the mat, picked him up and chucked him over the top rope. The battle then went to around the announce table and the VIP area. Tolbert took Duncum down with a drop toe hold, smashing him head first into the guardrail. After smashing Duncum around a bit more the action spilled beside the guardrail again. This time Tolbert tried to retrieve a steel chair, that was currently being sat on by Terry Taylor. When Taylor wouldn't budge he pushed both Taylor and Dusek over and grabbed a chair. When he went to hit Duncum though Taylor grabbed ahold of the chair and wrestled with Tolbert. Dusek then punched Tolbert to get him to release the chair. He and Taylor then set up the chairs and sat back down to a huge ovation. Duncum then nailed Tolbert with a running clothesline before taking the bout back inside. We were about 9 minutes into the match. The next few minutes were not the most exciting but had a certain level of brutality. Duncum attacked with kicks, punches, knees, back breakers, and elbows. Tolbert took a beating. Each time Duncum would cover he wouldn't hook a leg, as if he was just testing Tolbert's level of resistance. Finally he went for the flying bulldog finisher but Tolbert quickly countered with an atomic drop. Tolbert then clipped Duncum's leg from behind. He then went to work on the leg with stomps, smashes off the mat. He then smashed it off the ring post before trying for a figure four around the ringpost, but Duncum kicked him off. We are about 14 minutes into this match. Tolbert went back to work and put on a bow and arrow submission to no avail. They went through some dosey dose ending with Tolbert nailing a clothesline, followed up with a running legdrop. He then locked on a sleeper on the mat. Duncum worked his way to his feet slowly before running Tolbert backward into the corner to force a break. Duncum went to work with forearms, kicks, a short lariat, and an armbar. Duncum set him up for a piledriver but Tolbert countered with a back body drop. Tolbert closed on Duncum but the RCW champ nailed him with a powerslam. He then nailed his running bulldog finisher, 1, 2, Tolbert managed to get his foot in the ropes for the break. Tolbert began to leave the ring but Duncum grabbed him. The SAWF champ though nailed Duncum with an illegal mule kick. Tolbert then jumped off the apron and hot shot Duncum's throat off the top rope. Back inside Duncum went for a clothesline that Tolbert ducked, scooped the bigger man up and nailed a death valley driver, cover 1, 2, kickout!Tolbert then followed up with a piledriver, count 1, 2, kickout! Swinging neckbreaker, German suplex, count 1, 2 kickout! Another death valley driver, cover 1, 2, kickout. Another piledriver, cover, and finally 1, 2, 3!! [Linley Tolbert defeated Bobby Duncum Jr. by pinfall after a piledriver at 19:27] [Linley Tolbert wins the RCW Heavyweight Title]
Post-Match: Both men were exhausted, and it took Duncum a couple minutes to get to his feet. Tolbert was presented with both belts and he held them high. Duncum was not happy about the low blow mule kick but didn't put up too much of a fuss. The crowd gave both men a nice ovation.
That's it for another year of River City Wrestling. In fact it's been an incredible 20 year run and still going strong.
See ya next week!!
FADE TO BLACK
Breaking Kayfabe; I had fun writing up this card, the most I had with a card in a long time. I'm going to be taking a few weeks off from cards though to recharge my interest as well as to do a bunch of administrative and record keeping for the circuit which I've fallen behind on. So I might post some historical lists etc, but will be a few weeks before more cards. When we do resume, the next 20 months will just be fairly summarized cards and will move quickly. Stan Baker - Sam Holiday - Al Hardamann unknowingly just fired the first shots in what will be a long standing rivalry in RCW. I'm excited for the return to RCW of the Road Warriors, the Spinebusters, and women's wrestling. The Roadies and the Busters will have a big feud in the first half of 2000. Lord Zoltan as the leader of the indy fed was a cop out. I know I had other plans that I scrapped when changing directions but decided I had to tie up the loose end even if the payout wasn't worthwhile. Zoltan at least will continue in RCW as the manager of Silva and Kurrgan. Zoltan sounds like a joke from toy story but Ken Jugan was actually not just a good hand but also had a great mind for in ring psychology. A big deal was made over Goodridge's TV title defence, but unfortunately he did not return in January as planned, so once again the TV title will be vacated. Tolbert winning the RCW belt is part of a planned transition of a few different things in RCW.

From the Housekeeping files. Here is a list of all non-RCW titles defended in RCW. It may not be complete but I have tried to keep track. Some of these are phantom titles, as opposed to just fictional titles in a fictional fed using some fictional wrestlers
Canadian Heavyweight Championship **this was origininally the same title recognized by Maple Leaf Wrestling with a long storied history. RCW used it as a recognized "higher" title that its local talent would shoot for, when they brought in the title holder** February 16th, 1980 (RCW #4) - Dino Bravo (champion) defeated Black Avenger (Moose Morowski) by pinfall (Winnipeg) May 10th, 1980 (RCW #10) - Dino Bravo (champion) defeated The Destroyer by pinfall (Winnipeg) August 30th, 1980 (RCW #18) - Greg "the Hammer" Valentine (champion) defeated The Destroyer by submission to the figure-four (Winnipeg) November 8th, 1980 (RCW #23) - Greg "the Hammer" Valentine (champion) defeated Chris Lyons by submission to the figure-four (Winnipeg) February 14th, 1981 (RCW #27) - Angelo Mosca (champion) defeated Chris Lyons by submission to the full nelson (Winnipeg) December 12th, 1981 (RCW #46) - Big John Studd (champion) battled RCW Heavyweight champion The Destroyer to a double countout in a title v title match at the 2nd Anniversary show (Winnipeg) March 27th, 1982 (RCW #57) - Angelo Mosca (champion) defeated Dean Jarrett by pinfall (Winnipeg) September 26th, 1982 (RCW #78) - Angelo Mosca (champion) defeated Dean Jarrett by pinfall (Winnipeg) December 9th, 1982 (RCW #85) - Angelo Mosca (champion) defeated Buddy Lane by pinfall (Brandon) December 11th, 1982 (RCW #87) - Angelo Mosca (champion) lost to Rufus R. Jones by disqualification to retain his title at the 3rd Anniversary show (Winnipeg)
Tennessee State Junior Heavyweight Championship **this title was used by Timmy Rich, a knock-off of Wildfire Tommy Rich, and was discovered to be a bogus title, but this did not stop him from defending it and his adversaries from wishing to take it from him and drive him out of RCW** February 16, 1980 (RCW #4) - Timmy Rich (champion) lost to Eric Lee by disqualification to retain his title. This was the one and only title defence that occurred before everyone became aware the title was bogus. (Winnipeg) March 1, 1980 (RCW #5) - Timmy Rich defeated Johnny Rich to retain. Johnny Rich was a surprise opponent billed as Tommy Rich's cousin, here to stop Timmy from trading falsely on the name. (Winnipeg) April 26, 1980 (RCW #9) - Destroyer defeated Timmy Rich by submission in an RCW Heavyweight title against Tennessee Jr title match. However, after the match Timmy protested that Destroyer could not hold the JR title because he was over 225 pounds and the title was returned to Rich. June 7, 1980 (RCW #12) - Timmy Rich defeated Dusty Street by pinfall in a Hair v Bogus Title match. Street's head was shaved bald, but he attacked Rich after the shaving and stole the title belt, which he was forced to later return. August 2, 1980 (RCW #16) - Timmy Rich put his title up against the mask of Uvlade Slim. Originally Dusty Street & Uvlade Slim defeated Timmy Rich & Dean Jarrett but after a post-match beatdown Slim was unmasked to reveal Johnny Rich who had previously lost a loser-leaves-town match. So the match decision was reversed and Rich got to keep his bogus belt. October 25, 1980 (RCW #22) - The Destroyer defeated Timmy Rich in a title versus bogus title match, but after the match the Destroyer returned the belt to Rich under the stipulation that he leave town with the belt, to which he agreed.
NWA World Women's Title December 12, 1981 (RCW #46); 2nd Anniversary Spectacular - Fabulous Moolah successfully defended the title against Jeannie Rahib winning by pinfall thanks to a handful of tights.
NWA United States Heavyweight Championship December 9th, 1982 (RCW #85) - Greg Valentine (champion) and Bulldog Bob Brown battled to a double countout (Brandon) December 11th, 1982 (RCW #87) - Greg Valentine (champion) defeated Buddy Lane by submission at the 3rd Anniversary Show (Winnipeg)
Maple Leaf Women's Champion This was not a real title. Dec 15th, 1983 (#128) - LeiLani Kai (champion) was brought in as the Maple Leaf Champion and lost a Canadian unification match to RCW champion Judy Martin, to morph the RCW title to become the Canadian Women's Championship.
Stampede Heavyweight Championship **it's unclear which belt this was exactly as the Stampede territory was in flux at the time. This may very well have been made up. June 2nd 1984 (RCW # 148) - "Rotten" Ron Starr (Stampede champion) lost to Chris Lyon (RCW champion) by disqualification, but still retained his title, in a title versus title match.
NWA Canadian Tag Team Titles May 4th, 1985 (RCW #189 ) - Sonny Meyers & Mike Dupree (champions) defeated Robbie Royce & Ron Ritchie
Southwest Women's Championship June 16th, 1985: (RCW #194) - Red Fox (champion) defeated Natasha by pinfall to retain her title. Tucson, Arizona.
Stampede International Tag Team Titles December 17, 1987 (RCW #313): 8th Anniversary Spectacular - Bad Company (Bruce Hart & Brian Pillman) (champions) defeated the Top Guns (Ricky Rice & Derrick Dukes) by pinfall after outside interference to retain their titles

River City Wrestling #817 Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada January 29, 2000
Dark Matches Before the TV card:
Bout #1 Moses Luke and Balls Mahoney battled to a double countout at 5:22 **premiere of Luke, a young 6'2 350 lb German juggernaut. Balls wanted to make this hardcore and Luke had no problem with that.
Bout #2 Vampiro defeated Chi Chi Cruz by pinfall after the nail in the coffin at 7:05 **Vampiro makes his return to RCW, having dropped the Canadiense from his name. Surprisingly Cruz also returned despite several stories being floated around the internet on how much the rest of the locker room disliked him. Vampiro picks up a big win.
Bout #3 Greg Pawluk & Johnny Devine and the Spinebusters: Jerry Orth & Bryan Caruthers battled to a double countout at 8:53 **yet another double countout where the ring could not contain the action. Devine who joined RCW last year brought in a new partner, Pawluk, from Stampede where they had teamed last year. A very impressive duo and it looked like the accomplished 'Busters wanted nothing to do with a fair fight.
Bout #4 Central States Heavyweight Title Match Derrick Darkstorm defeated Sam Holiday, Al Hardamann, and Derek Graves (/w Sharon Montgomery) by pinfall when Darkstorm pinned Hardamann after a top rope neckbreaker at 10:37 [Derrick Darkstorm retained the Central States Heavyweight Title] **Darkstorm returned again to defend his title. He was in trouble throughout the bout as he had a target on his back. However, in the end Graves and Holiday were going at it outside the ring, and with that providing the distraction Darkstorm caught Hardamann by surprise coming off the top to get the duke.
RCW RAGE returns - The One Hour TV Card
A brief video from RCW owner Jack Larkin about the new start and thanking the fans for sticking with RCW through thick and thin. He said that he is taking a step back as he has other business interests to tend to in the dot com sector especially. Now that the world has got through the Y2K scare intact he needs to refocus some of his resources. Larkin says that his first choices to take the helm, in no particular order, were Nick Bockwinkel, Jim Brunzell, and Baron von Raschke. For various reasons however none of the three felt it was in our mutual best interests to accept the position. However, one name came up from all three men to be a man who had a great idea of how to run an old school wrestling show that could still hook viewers. That man was offered the position and he has accepted. The new Commissioner of River City Wrestling will be none other than Greg Gagne!
Highlights of the 20th Anniversary show from last year including SAWF champion Linley Tolbert defeated Bobby Duncum Jr to win the RCW title. Gary Goodridge held on to the TV title in an emotional fatal 5 way elimination match. Lord Zoltan was unveiled as the leader of the Indy Crew. Road Warriors made a triumphant return to RCW taking the tag belts from Tatanka & Vic Grimes. Strawberry Fields rejuvenated the North American Women's title and defeated Nikki Kixxx.
Announcer Joe Aiello comes to the ring and introduces the new Commissioner of River City Wrestling, Greg Gagne!! The former High Flyer gets a nice ovation from the older members of the audience who remember him fondly for the most part from his AWA days. Gagne says some basic things about RCW being back, and when he took the reins from Brunzell and Bockwinkel they talked about restoring real wrestling to the company. However, Gagne says that tonight he has the unappealing task of telling the audience something that they may not have heard. A couple days ago former RCW champion Bobby Duncum Jr passed away, too young at just 34 years of age. Gagne talks about wrestling his father Bobby Duncum Sr and how proud everyone was of Junior and his old school mentality to the business. On a related note tonight, as is a tradition in River City Wrestling, on the first show of the year, we are scheduled to hand out the awards for last year 1999. The award committee had their choices in a couple weeks ago, so rest assured that the recent tragedy did not effect this. Their choice for Wrestler of the Year, and a most fitting and well deserved one, is none other than Bobby Duncum Jr. Rest in peace.
Opening Bout #1 Contenders Match TrummerFrauen v Nikki Kixxx v Becky Hennig v Sheona Stewart **Kixxx, Hennig, and Stewart have all appeared for RCW before. Of these three Kixxx is the most legit contender and a former champ, but she also already had a shot at the title at the Anniversary show and lost. TrummerFrauen is new to RCW. She is reminiscent of Emma Bezzlerr, short, muscular, but unlike Bezzlerr there is no glamour to her game. TrummerFrauen, from the German TrummerFrau was the term used for German woman who had to clean up and reconstruct bombed out cities in Germany after WWII. With so many men dead or in prison, it was left to the women to work 9 hour days for basically food stamps. They began to fashion clothes out of the rags they found in burned out cities. This woman oozes resentment and power. TF kind of played it coy, and after a few exchanges that they ended up on the wrong side of the others seemed to prefer to leave her alone; until Hennig and Stewart teamed up on her. This was not an elimination match. TF threw Stewart over the top rope and then nailed Hennig with a sitout powerbomb, 1, 2, Kixxx broke it up with a sidekick to the head of TF who dropped like a rock. Kixxx covered TF, 1, 2, kickout. Kixxx then tossed TF out of the ring, nailed Hennig with a superkick and covered her for the win. [Nikki Kixxx defeated TrummerFrauen, Becky Hennig, and Sheona Stewart by pinfall when she pinned Hennig after a superkick at 7:23] **Kixxx will receive her title shot against Strawberry Fields in two weeks at the first all-women's show of the year.
Annual Awards A video package is presented to show the winners of the various year end awards. As most of the winners are not here tonight there is no in-ring ceremony. Woman of the Year: Mistress Gloom Manager of the Year: Mistress Gloom Tag Team of the Year: The Extremists: Ace Darling & Devon Storm Feud of the Year: The Alliance vs The Family. We were told that Nick Mercury was on hand representing the former Alliance, and that Lord Zoltan, Manny Silva, Derek Graves, and Sharon Montgomery were on hand to represent the Family (who are no longer together after the reveal of Zoltan's double dealings with the Indy crew). However, because the wounds are still fresh, and because of the upcoming Battle Draw it is not wise to have any of them come accept an award. Match of the Year: Sep 12: RCW #810 (IronMan 99); RCW Heavyweight Championship Match Bobby Duncum Jr (champion) defeated Steve Corino by pinfall after a chairshot to the throat at 28:48
Closing Bout 30 Man Battle Draw for #1 Heavyweight Contender - New Man Drawn Every 60 seconds This match had to be edited for TV time and commercials
0:00 Draw in #1 Tatanka 0:00 Draw in #2 Sam Holiday 1:00 Draw in #3 "Porno" Tony Gold **Gold makes his first appearance in RCW and gets in the way of the other two eliminating each other 2:00 Draw in #4 Donovan Morrgan **Morgan and Tatanka both came from the Indy crew and team up on Holiday. Gold is happy to stand by. 3:00 Draw in #5 Derek Graves **Graves goes right after Gold who somehow manages to hang on, while Holiday is taking a beating but also is hanging on 4:00 Draw in #6 Al Hardamann **Finally some good news for Holiday, as his buddy Al goes in to help him. 4:43 Out Donovan Morgan (elim by Holiday, Hardamann) 5:00 Draw in #7 Road Warrior Hawk **now this really brings the fans to their feet. Hawk goes after Graves and Gold though, leaving Holiday/Hardamann to finish off Tatanka. 5:21 Out Tatanka (elim. by Hardamann) 5:37 Out Tony Gold (elim. Hawk) 6:00 Draw in #8 Kurrgan **Kurrgan and Hawk go right at each other while Graves tries to fight off Holiday and Hardamann. Kurrgan has Hawk on the edge, and Hardamann goes over but instead of helping Hawk he tries to help eliminate Hawk. It doesn't work and he may pay for that mistake later. 7:00 Draw in #9 Darren Dalton **Dalton joins Graves in the battle against Holiday, turning the tide. In the meantime now Hardamann, Kurrgan, and Hawk find themsevles in a 3 way battle. 8:00 Draw in #10 Johnny Devine **Hardamann joins Hawk now in eliminating Kurrgan. As soon as that is done though Hawk goes right after Hardamann. He almost had him eliminated but Holiday made the save. 8:26 Out Kurrgan (elim. Hawk, Hardamann) 9:00 Draw in #11 Bryan Caruthers **one half of the Spinebusters, and to his credit he goes right after Hawk, which helps separate Holiday and Hardamann from the Road Warrior's wrath. 9:50 Out Derek Graves (elim. Holiday, Hardamann) 9:52 Out Darren Dalton (elim. Devine) 10:00 Draw in #12 Stan Baker **Baker goes right after his new enemies Holiday and Hardamann. Hawk still has his hands full with Caruthers. Devine is taking a breather. 11:00 Draw in #13 El Sphincter Bungholio **Another premiere here in RCW, and not a dignified one. The 6'0 380 pounder is wearing a shirt 3 sizes too small and shorts you wouldn't want your daughter to wear. 12:00 Draw in #14 Reckless Youth **Things start going quick now. 12:13 Out Stan Baker (elim. Holiday, Hardamann, Bungholio) 12:22 Out Bungholio (elim. Youth, Devine) 13:00 Draw in #15 Jerry Orth **the other Spinebuster draws in and joins Caruthers in going after Hawk. In the meantime Holiday and Hardamann do their best to eliminate Youth who is like a water bug. 14:00 Draw in #16 Vampiro **Vamp joins in the fun and helps eliminate Hawk 14:30 Out Hawk (Caruthers, Orth, Vampiro) 14:38 Out Reckless Youth (elim. Holiday) 15:00 Draw in #17 Road Warrior Animal **In comes the other Warrior and he is pissed after Hawk was eliminated. He goes right after both 'busters while Holiday and Hardamann catch their breath. 16:00 Draw in #18 Vic Grimes 17:00 Draw in #19 Derrick Darkstorm **The Central states champ went right after Holiday/Hardamann. He is joined by Vampiro and Grimes, and it's 3 on 2. It's also 2 on 1 as the Busters duke it out with Animal. 18:00 Draw in #20 Nick Mercury **to the surprise of the fans, and to their pleasure, he takes out Orth from behind then goes to help Holiday/Hardamann. 18:15 Out Bryan Caruthers (Animal) 18:33 Out Vic Grimes (Mercury, Hardamann) 19:00 Draw in #21 Chi Chi Cruz **Pretty much everyone in the ring goes right after Cruz, at least all the RCW guys 19:40 Out Chi Chi Cruz (Mercury, Holiday, Hardamann) 19:52 Out Jerry Orth and Animal (each other) **Orth finally goes but he takes Animal with him. The two continue to brawl after the elimination, and are joined by their tag partners. The brawl distracts all the refs, and Manny Silva rolls into the ring and uses a steel chair to lay out Holiday, Hardamann, and Mercury. It looks like he would have taken out Darkstorm and Vampiro too but they tackled him and threw him over the top rope. But he wasn't a legal man (yet). Chaos reigned as Balls Mahoney entered the ring and went right after Vamp and Dark. 20:00 Draw in #22 Balls Mahoney 20:23 Out Al Hardamann (elim. by Darkstorm, Vampiro) 21:00 Draw in #23 Moses Luke **the German only sees enemies, spearing everyone is sight. 21:13 Out Sam Holiday (elim by Darkstorm) 22:00 Out Vampiro (elim by Mahoney) 22:00 Draw in #24 Greg Pawluk 23:00 Draw in #25 Vic Gate 24:00 Draw in #26 Eric Scott **the ring is filling back up. Eric Scott is another newcomer to RCW. A Scot-Canadian an old partner of Vincent Regliatti in Ontario. 25:00 Draw in #27 Boss Strickland 25:33 Out Greg Pawluk (elim. by Darkstorm) 25:38 Out Derrick Darkstorm (elim. by Luke, Mahoney) 25:51 Out Vic Gate (Strickland) 26:00 Draw in #28 Marcus Schultz 27:00 Draw in #29 Lord Zoltan **Zoltan drew in and looked very cocky as everyone else was already pretty beaten up. 28:00 Draw in #30 Manny Silva **Silva came in with the best draw, after having created havoc earlier in the night. However, he soon found himself weakened by Luke and Mahoney who teamed up on him. 29:10 Out Eric Scott (Strickland, Schultz) 29:19 Out Boss Strickland (Schultz, Zoltan) 29:47 Out Lord Zoltan (Mercury) **it was every man for himself now and Luke and Balls put aside their earlier alliance and went right after each other. 31:34 Out Balls Mahoney (Luke) 32:59 Out Moses Luke (Schultz, Mercury) **down to two men both fan favourites Schultz and Mercury. They fought it out but Schultz made a mistake and Mercury caught him with a back body drop over the top. 35:08 Out Marcus Schultz (Mercury) Winner: Nick Mercury [Nick Mercury wins the 30 Man Battle Draw at 35:08]
Post-Match: As we go off air Manny Silva returns to the ring and attacks Mercury from behind. Schultz though was close enough to come back and try and make the save. But Schultz underestimated the savagery of Silva who nailed him in the throat, hit Schultz with a wheelbarrow suplex, and then choked him until Mercury with the help of RCW officials managed to break it up.

Dark Match after RAGE taping;
Main Event RCW Tag Team Title Match Road Warriors Hawk & Animal defeated Tatanka & Vic Grimes by pinfall when Hawk pinned Tatanka after a Doomsday device at 9:24 [Road Warriors retained the RCW Tag Team Titles] **This was the challengers return bout after losing the titles at the 20th Anniversary show. Of note was that they did not come out accompanied by Lord Zoltan, so it would seem that the Indy crew and Zoltan are no longer an item. The challengers went right after the Road Warriors, showing no fear, attacking them before the opening bell. It was a slobberknocker and it was a credit to this throw together team that they managed to last as long as they did.

Dark Matches before Rage:
Round of 16 Qualifying for the vacant Television Title
Bout #1 Vampiro defeated Vic Gate by pinfall after the nail in the coffin at 8:43 **Gate is a good technical wrestler, but Vampiro is just overwhelming
Bout #2 Chi Chi Cruz defeated Boss Strickland by pinfall after a Cruz missile (diving spinning wheel kick) at 5:30 **fairly fast win for Cruz, a bit of a surprise, and sets up a rematch for his loss last week against Vamp.
Bout #3 Al Hardamann defeated Eric Scott by pinfall after a Vertebreaker at 8:02 **Scott was a good competitor for Hardamann but couldn't get the job done.
Bout #4 Stan Baker defeated Sam Holiday by countout at 10:05 **the intensity of this bout, thanks to prior bad blood was ratcheted much higher than the previous three. The fans wondered if they would see the two friends Holiday and Hardamann matched up in the next round. It was a slobberknocker, and it's a good thing for Baker that the next round is not tonight. Holiday controlled more of the bout than Baker but was vaulted head first into the outside of the ringpost knocking him out.
Bout #5 Barry Darsow defeated Darren Dalton by submission to the chickenwing arm lock at 4:48 **Darsow makes his premiere in RCW. Better known perhaps as Demolition Smash or Repo Man, he had no problem using his experience to easily dispatch Dalton.
Bout #6 Moses Luke defeated Balls Mahoney by pinfall after a running powerslam at 6:13 **rematch from their double countout last week. Luke appeared to have "loaded" his elbow pad while the ref was distracted in order to set up his finisher.
Bout #7 Derek Graves (/w Sharon Montgomery) defeated "Porno" Tony Gold by pinfall after a piledriver at 3:18 **former TV champ with a chip on his shoulder made short work of Gold.
Bout #8 Marcus Schultz defeated Manny Silva by pinfall after an inside cradle at 7:57 **major upset. These two were paired up after their hostilities at the end of last week. Silva attacked Schultz before the opening bout and continued his onslaught for basically the entire bout. The amateur wrestling background of Schultz did little to prepare him for the mad Hawaiian's savage attacks. Schultz was busted open early and bled quite a bit. However, when he was unable to put Schultz away and the match spilled outside, Nick Mercury came out to save Schultz from being hit by a steel chair. Schultz fled back into the ring, and after Mercury wrestled the chair away from Silva, the Hawaiian rolled into the ring, and right into the surprise inside cradle. Mercury and Schultz immediately took off after the upset victory.
RCW Rage - One Hour Episode
Our main event tonight will be Nick Mercury's shot at the RCW Heavyweight Championship held by Linley Tolbert. We get highlights of last week's 30 Man Battle Draw where Nick Mercury last eliminated Marcus Schultz to win the event, and win the title shot.
Next we get a brief recent history of the tumultuous TV Title. Derek Graves held the belt, lost it due to injury. Then Gary Goodridge won it in controversy when he won a Gauntlet Cage Match at Nothing Else Matters by default when the match before him ended in a time limit draw. Then it was revealed that the title had actually been stolen by the Indy Armoury crew so he didn't even get to hold the belt. At the 20th Anniversary show he then won a 5 man elimination match to retain the title, and for the first time get to hold the title. However, due to some scheduling conflicts with his Mixed Martial Arts career Goodridge was unable to return to RCW in 2000; so the title was again vacated. The first round of 16 was held tonight, with the rest of the tournament scheduled for two weeks from now on February 19th.
We get highlights of the first 4 bouts in the TV tournament featuring wins by Vampiro, Chi Chi Cruz, Al Hardamann, and Stan Baker.
Bout #9 The Spinebusters: Jerry Orth & Bryan Caruthers defeated Johnny Devine & Greg Pawluk by pinfall when Caruthers pinned Pawluk after a spinebuster slam at 9:10 **sure the bad guys cheated to win wherever they could, but really they are just a step up at this point, and too experienced for the youngsters to handle. It was as clean a victory as you will find in a Spinebusters win.
Post-Match: The Spinebusters make it clear that they consider themselves the #1 contenders and should be granted a tag team title shot on the 19th.
Promo for next week, February 12th, our first All Women's Edition of River City Wrestling Rage in 2000. North American Women's champion Strawberry Fields will defend against #1 contender Nikki Kixxx. Other matches include TrummerFrauen vs Sheona Stewart; Becky Hennig vs Hollywood Jeanne Basone; and a special attraction, ECW's Dawn Marie flies in to take on Sharon Montgomery in a spanking match.
Promo from Dawn Marie who explains in detail how she is going to spank her bratty uptight opponent Sharon Montgomery next week.
Next are highlights of the last 4 bouts in the TV tournament featuring wins by Barry Darsow, Moses Luke, Derek Graves, and Marcus Schultz.
Promo for next week. Starting next week RCW will be unveiling some Decade Awards. Next week will be to honour the females who graced RCW in its first 10 years; The Lady of the 80's or more precisely the "RCW Woman of the 80's" award will be handed out; and the recipient will be there to accept the award.
Main Event RCW Heavyweight Title Match Nick Mercury defeated Linley Tolbert by pinfall after a top rope bulldog at 10:37 [Nick Mercury wins the RCW Heavyweight Title] **Tolbert attacks Mercury just before the bell rang to get the advantage. He pressed it but was unable to get the pin even after a brainbuster. Mercury countered a piledriver with a back body drop. The match went back and forth a couple more times but Mercury slowly took over from the veteran Tolbert who looked like he was ready to take the easy way out if available. Mercury nailed an impressive monkey flip, slingshot suplex, and then a superplex for 1,2 kickout. Tolbert made one more push but Mercury ducked under a running clothesline, nailed a cross body block, followed up with a flying back elbow, two count. Mercury went to the top buckle but Tolbert got up in time to meet him there. Mercury though managed to fight him off, and then with Tolbert on the second buckle he came off the top with a bulldog, and picked up the huge win.
Well, Mercury has gone from being a fan favourite to a heel now back to a fan favourite and gets a real nice ovation for his first RCW Heavyweight title win, and begins what will be the 54th title reign in the belt's 20 year history.

River City Wrestling #819 St. Paul, Minnesota February 12, 2000
All Women's "Heartbreaker" Edition
Dark Matches
Opening Bout Alexis and Miss B. Haven battled to a double countout at 7:24 **two premieres here in RCW and the ladies couldn't contain their exuberance and got counted out in a wild brawl.
Bout #2 Heather Steele defeated Wendy Wheels by pinfall after a Northern lights suplex at 6:47 **two more premieres, these girls are also featured in WOW, Women of Wrestling which was fairly heavily advertised during the bout.
RCW Rage - One Hour Episode
Bout #3 TrummerFrauen defeated Sheona Stewart by pinfall after a sitout powerbomb at 4:52 **the sturdy TF destroyed SS and looks poised for better things.
Award Ceremony - Woman of the Decade (1980's) Commissioner Greg Gagne brings out his old tag partner, and RCW Hall of Famer Jim Brunzell who is on hand tonight. Together they present the first of the Decade Awards. This one is for the top woman of the 1980's. The committee for this was the same as the Hall of fame committee; Jim Brunzell, Stan Mullen, The Destroyer, Chris Lyon, Mike Valiant. The last member of the committee had to be replaced due to a conflict of interest, so referee Buddy Lane was added. There was no Woman of the Year award back in the 80's, but this lady is a member of the RCW Hall of Fame, was a 4 time women's champion, including being the first women's champion. <<<cue "No One Like You" by the Scorpions>>> The crowd gives a nice cheer as Tawney England comes to the ring to accept the award. As the ceremony progresses and hands are shook, referee Jennifer Greaves comes to the ring. First off she thanks Tawney for being a trail blazer and an inspiration to her. However, Greaves says she needs some help. As the only female referee she is supposed to ref every match tonight and it seems like too much. She produces a ref's uniform and asks England if she'll ref the next match. The fans urge England to accept and she does. Bout #4 Special Guest Referee Tawney England Hollywood Jeanne Basone defeated Becky Hennig by pinfall after a DDT at 6:56 **Hennig had her moments and loved to cheat, but Basone was just too much. The 3 time Women's champion who last held the belt in 1996, just poured on the offense. Monkey flips, samoan drop, camel clutch, missile dropkick, and then a DDT to finish things.
The announce crew informs us that next week we will be presenting the Woman of the 1990's award, and that Hollywood, along with many others including Madusa Micelli, Cynthia Rothrock, Sherri Martel, K.C. Houston, and Desiree Petersen would all be strong candidates.
Bout #5 Four Corners Spanking Match Dawn Marie defeated Sharon Montgomery in a Spanking Match at 5:02 **this was a terrible match of course. Dawn Marie is a wild cat and really Montgomery is a "lady" and no match for her opponent. One thing RCW has been very good about on these all-women cards is not having their male counterparts interfere or otherwise join the party. We might have expected to have seen Derek Graves make a save and maybe Dawn Marie having someone waiting in the wings, but instead if stuck to one on one. Sharon Montgomery didn't look the least bit interested in competing in this flesh fest.
Main Event North American Women's Title Match Strawberry Fields defeated Nikki Kixxx after a Gory neckbreaker at 11:21 [Strawberry Fields retained the North American Women's Title] **the strawberry blonde started the match strong ducking a clothesline and then giving Kixxx a tour of the turnbuckles. She held the advantage for the first few minutes before Kixxx took over thanks to a series of forearm shots. Kixxx then went to work with, well kicks, akin to Tajiri's buzzsaw attack. The challenger then pressed the advantage for a long time but was unable to get the pin. She went for the superkick finisher twice, but the champ held onto the ropes once, and hit the deck the second time to avoid the set-up. Fields took back control after powring out of the corner with an inverted atomic drop, followed by a clothesline. We then had a criss cross segment that of course ended in a ref bump with Jennifer Greaves going down. The crowd cheered when Tawney England came down to the ring thinking she would be a replacement ref, as Kixxx was taking advantage of having no ref with chokes, kicks, and hair pulls. But as the announcers reminded us RCW has a strict rule about refs decisions being final and only the ref of record. This didn't stop Tawney however from trying to separate Kixxx from the champ. But when the challenger hit her with a back elbow England then intervened taking the challenger down from behind by the hair. This didn't end well for the lady of the 80's though as Kixxx threw her from the ring and then nailed her with a plancha. However, inside the ring it bought Fields and Greaves time to recover. Before Kixxx could get back into the ring after disposing of Tawney however, another woman appeared from the front row, jumping over the guardrail. It was Tawney's sister, another RCW Hall of Famer, Corrie England! The younger sister grabbed Kixxx from behind and smashed her head a few times off the ring apron and then rolled her dazed back into the ring. Fields right away went for a victory roll but Kixxx kicked out at 2, but then the champ pulled a Gory neckbreaker out of thin air, and got the win!
Post-Match: Kixxx went after the England sisters outside the ring, but it was two on one and those chicks still know how to brawl. Fields was presented with her belt, noticed the fracas and was about to go help, when TrummerFrauen entered the ring from behind and took out the champ. Clobbering forearms, a running smash with the belt to the head, and then a sitout powerbomb. The England sisters entered the ring to help but they were no match for the big angry German who clotheslined them both before hitting each with a sit-out powerbomb. Chaos as we go off the air.

Dark Matches before Rage
Opening Bout TV Title Tournament - Quarter-Final Match Chi Chi Cruz defeated Vampiro by disqualification for use of a foreign object (steel chair) at 9:40
Bout #2 TV Title Tournament - Quarter-Final Match Stan Baker defeated Al Hardamann by pinfall after a heartpunch at 10:23 **very good match, the heat between these guys (and throw Sam Holiday into the mix) is really picking up.
Bout #3 TV Title Tournament - Quarter-Final Match Moses Luke defeated Barry Darsow by pinfall after a running powerslam at 5:32 **an upset as the big man takes out the more experienced grappler. Darsow controlled most of the bout, working a lot of armbars etc, but when Luke flexed his power he quickly dominated it and ended it fast.
Bout #4 TV Title Tournament - Quarter-Final Match Marcus Schultz defeated Derek Graves (/w Sharon Montgomery) by pinfall after an inside cradle at 7:10 **Schultz is quickly making a name for himself, maybe the upset kid, after finishing second in the Battle Draw, and now winning two straight bouts in the TV tournament. His amateur wrestling skills are outstanding but so is his luck. In this case he reversed a whip to the ropes and Montgomery accidentally tripped up her own man instead, and then Schultz quickly rolled him up for the win.
Bout #5 TV Title Tournament - Semi-Final Match Stan Baker defeated Chi Chi Cruz by pinfall after a powerslam at 8:47 **Baker caught Cruz coming off the top rope, literally caught him, and then turned it into a powerslam to get the win.
Bout #6 TV Title Tournament - Semi-Final Match Marcus Schultz defeated Moses Luke by pinfall after a Northern lights suplex at 11:45 **Schultz used his amateur moves to control early, grounding the bigger man, but unable to put him away. The big German took over with brawling and power moves, but the gutsy Schultz kept kicking out of pin attempts. Schultz was on the apron and tried to enter the ring with a sunset flip but Luke held onto the top rope and then dropped down...but Schultz moved out of the way, and Luke landed hard on his tail bone. Schultz nailed a neckbreaker and then the suplex into a bridge pin to pick up the win.
RCW RAGE One hour episode
The show begins with a highlight package of the six tournament matches that occurred earlier in the night.
Bout #7 RCW Heavyweight Title Match Nick Mercury defeated Linley Tolbert by countout at 9:58 [Nick Mercury retained the RCW Heavyweight Title] **this was Tolbert's return match. The former champ started strong with a series of cheats but Mercury took the bout over and never looked back. The champ poured on the offence, and after a tame enough looking dropkick which sent Tolbert over the top rope, the South African came up lame. Unable to put pressure on his leg he took the countout. In a gesture of goodwill after the bout Mercury very carefully went to check on Tolbert and when a couple of RCW officials had to help the veteran to the back, Mercury clapped for him and the fans responded by giving the injured warrior a nice hand.
Award Ceremony - Woman of the Decade (1990's) Madusa Micelli Madusa was not on hand to accept the award but did send in a nice video that was played. This award was a tough one with many good candidates and no clear cut winner. Cynthia Rothrock was a six time champion in the 90's while Madusa only a 3 time champion, but her title runs were longer. Sherri Martel had to also be considered a very close 3rd. In fact a short video package was shown of all those girls plus more.
Main Event RCW Television Title Match Tournament Final for the vacant TV title Stan Baker defeated Marcus Schultz by pinfall after the heartpunch at 12:09 [Stan Baker wins the RCW Television Title] **well the slipper fell off of Cinderella tonight. Schultz had a good showing, and this bout could have gone either way. The turning point though was Schultz put his guard down after the two had been fighting outside the ring. As they were entering the ring Baker instead pulled Schultz down, knocking him face first off the ring apron. He then threw him head first into the ringpost. Baker rolled Schultz back inside. Whip to the buckle, back body drop. Schultz tried to punch back but Baker put him in an armbar and drove him into the corner buckle. He then delivered a powerbomb, only got a 2 count, and then nailed the heartpunch for the victory. Fade to Black

River City Wrestling #821 February 26, 2000 Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada
Dark Matches before Rage
Opening Bout Moses Luke defeated Greg Pawluk by pinfall after a running powerslam at 5:59 **Pawluk is a technically sound Stampede trained grappler who controlled much of the bout but was overcome by Luke's power. After the bout Luke decided to keep up the attack until Pawluk's partner Johnny Devine came out to make the save.
Bout #2 Nikki Kixxx defeated Becky Hennig by pinfall after a superkick at 8:40 **Kixxx is back in the win column.
Bout #3 RCW Television Title Match Stan Baker defeated Marcus Schultz by pinfall after a powerbomb at 8:04 [Stan Baker retained the RCW Television Title]
Bout #4 Manny Silva & Kurrgan (/Lord Zoltan) defeated Al Hardamann & Sam Holiday by pinfall when Silva pinned Hardamann after a wheelbarrow suplex at 10:32 **very even match, lots of heat. The deciding factor was Zoltan who managed to not only trip up Holiday but also passed Silva a pair of brass knuckles to use on Hardamann.
Bout #5 Vampiro defeated Balls Mahoney by countout at 6:16 **Wow, this one got out of hand real quick. In and out of the ring, eventually both men hit each twice with steel chairs, and only Vampiro managed to slide in the ring in time to beat the 10 count.
RCW RAGE - One Hour Episode
Opening Interview Segment - Announcer Joe Aiello brings out RCW Heavyweight champion Nick Mercury. They talk about how he defeated one of the world's best technical wrestlers Linley Tolbert not only to win the belt, but again to retain the belt. Aiello basically says Mercury was a "AAA" player who this year has vaulted into the major leagues. Mercury is not sure he likes the characterization but before he can counterpoint, Vampiro shows up. He asks the champ if he knows who he is? Mercury responds by asking if he is a celebrity impersonator of Brandon Lee. Vampiro is pissed and talks about how he destroyed Balls Mahoney just now, how many titles he has won in Mexico, and how he should be the top contender for the RCW belt. Mercury says Mexico is for clowns and the circus, not wrestling, and Vampiro will have to get in line. Vamp responds with a kick to the groin and then his nail in the coffin. He is then run off by Balls Mahoney who's head is bandaged from the chair shots in the last bout.
Bout #6 Lodi defeated Darren Dalton by pinfall after a DDT at 6:51 **Lodi makes his first appearance in RCW. He gets a nice pop from the crowd who recognize him from his WCW days, plus he is fighting a guy Dalton who is typically a heel. However, Lodi takes some short cuts and cheats on his way to victory, leaving the fans with a sour taste in their mouths.
Post-Match: Lodi gives an interview confirming his allegiance with the dark side.
Award Ceremony - Manager of the Decade (1980's) - Cowboy Bob Orton Jr The 80's did not have a dominant manager or valet in RCW. In fact RCW bucked the trend and used very few seconds. Three people won it twice each Bob Orton, Sheik Fal-Had, and Miss Hartel. A highlight package is shown of them Madusa, Tawney England, and Lisa Caress. Then the fans were surprised by a live, unadvertised appearance by the winning Cowboy himself. Orton thanked the committee for the award and thanked the fans. However, he didn't keep his ego in check and the old cocky Cowboy showed through in the interview.
Backstage: Vampiro is attacking Nick Mercury in the medical room as he is getting his shoulder checked out after the vicious attack earlier by Vamp. This time there is no one there to break it up and Vampiro uses various metal objects to bust open the head of Mercury. The champ is left a bloody mess.
Bout #7 North American Women's Title Match TrummerFrauen defeated Strawberry Fields by pinfall after a Full Nelson slam at 4:05 [TrummerFrauen wins the North American Women's Title] **wow, the powerful German made short work of Fields who technically held the belt since December 5, 1998, although it was dormant for most of the time. This is TF's first title reign and the 67th in the lineage.
Post-Match: TrummerFrauen is not done. She calls out an open title challenge and gets Becky Hennig come out.
Bout #8 North American Women's Title Match TrummerFrauen defeated Becky Hennig by pinfall after a superplex at 2:37 [TrummerFrauen retains the North American Women's Title] **the champ makes even shorter work of Hennig.
Post-Match: The champ throws out the challenge again..but this time no one accepts.
Main Event RCW Tag Team Title Match The Road Warriors: Hawk & Animal and The Spinebusters: Jerry Orth & Bryan Caruthers (/w Cowboy Bob Orton Jr) battled to a no-contest at 10:27 [The Road Warriors retained The RCW Tag Team Titles] **an eventful main event and one that stoked a simmering rivalry between these two consummate tag teams. First off, the 'Busters announced they had a special guest manager, the 80's manager of the decade Cowboy Bob Orton, who came out to a chorus of jeers. Cowboy presented his plaque to the timekeeper for safe keeping and pulled his managerial license out from under his hat to present to referee Buddy Lane. The Road Warriors were not happy but they really did not seem to care much either. In fact they threw their opponents out of the ring, and then menaced Orton before they were jumped by the returning 'busters. That advantage only lasted seconds though and Hawk controlled Caruthers to start the festivities. Big boot, jumping fist drop, military press drop, and a tag out to Animal as Caruthers lay prone in the ring. Animal picked Caruthers up by his skull, bodyslam, stomps, powerslam, cover 1, 2, save was made by Orth. This brought in Hawk and they nailed Orth with a double clotheslines. They had Caruthers set up for the doomsday but Orton distracted the ref allowing Orth to knock Hawk off the top buckle. Tag outs were made, the Road Warriors grabbed the advantage again, but the 'busters then turned it around after Orton reached in and tripped up Hawk. Animal chased, and then levelled Orton outside the ring but in the meantime inside the 'busters grabbed a 2 on 1 on Hawk to turn the tide of the bout. Orth nailed a second rope knee drop, a series of spinning elbow drops, covered..and got pressed off before the 1 count. Tag in was made to Caruthers who went to work with an elbow drop from the second rope, a Gourdbuster, and a single arm DDT..covered...and he too was pressed off before Lane could count to one. However, when Hawk pressed Caruthers off he threw him right on top of Buddy Lane..ref bump. Orton tossed his Manager of the Decade plaque into the ring for Jerry Orth. When Animal tried to intervene his leg was held by Orton, and then Orth nailed him with the plaque. In the meantime Caruthers had sent Hawk to the ropes, went for a spinebuster slam, but Hawk put on the brakes, and countered with a belly to belly suplex. He pinned Caruthers, but there was no ref, and then Orth nailed Hawk in the head. Orth was able to rejuvenate the ref, while Orton desperately clung on to Animal's leg. Caruthers rolled up Hawk, for a very slow, 1.........Orth laid down beside Lane and helped his hand smack the mat 2....broken up!! Some fan entered the ring and attacked Caruthers to break up the pin. All chaos then broke up with the two teams, Orton, Lane, and RCW officials swarming the ring. But the Road Warriors clear the ring and raise the fans' hands up. Wait, that is not just any fan, he was shown on TV earlier tonight, that is Tony Twist, a former hockey enforcer for the St. Louis Blues and Quebec Noridques!! When Joe Aiello enters the ring and makes that announcement, as well as the announcement of the no-contest, Twist is met with a mixture of cheers and boos. They cheer for his involvement in saving the Roadies belts, but at the same time the crowd has plenty of hardcore Winnipeg Jets fans who still remember Twist from the Blues-Jets and Nordiques-Jets rivalries of the 90's.

River City Wrestling #822 March 4, 2000 Brandon, Manitoba, Canada
Dark Matches before Rage
Opening Bout Lodi defeated El Sphincter Bungholio by pinfall after a running legdrop at 5:54 **Lodi had a bit of trouble with the size of his opponent, but this was a glorified squash match
Bout #2 Eric Scott defeated Stan Saxon by pinfall after a flapjack at 7:12 **Saxon is a veteran now, and had his moments, but Scott is just better.
Bout #3 The Spinebusters: Jerry Orth & Bryan Caruthers defeated Tony Gold & Darren Dalton by pinfall when Caruthers pinned Gold after a spinebuster slam at 8:27 **another glorified squash match. Post-Match: The Spinebusters cut a promo on the Road Warriors saying that Tony Twist should have been arrested, he had no business being in the ring, he was just a fan. He should be doing the two step with Big Bubba in the Headingly Jail right now. The 'Busters promise "all their little busters out there" that they will beat the Roadies and take the titles.
Bout #4 North American Women's Title Match TrummerFrauen defeated Strawberry Fields and Becky Hennig by pinfall when she pinned Fields after a running powerslam at 6:01 [TrummerFrauen retained the North American Women's Title] **this was a return bout of sorts after TF beat Fields for the belt last week. Having beat both these other ladies last week in separate matches it was slightly more of a challenge to beat them both at the same time. The challengers did alright early by concentrating on teaming up on the women's champ. But as soon as this fell apart so did their chances.
RCW RAGE - One Hour Episode
Highlights of the first four dark matches of the night are shown.
Bout #5 Jessica Judd defeated Sheona Stewart by pinfall after the shake, rattle, and roll at 4:58 **A premiere of JJ in RCW, she was most famous from her appearances in Violent Championship Wrestling. JJ is a short, squat, country looking girl with a wholesome image. She borrowed her finisher from Honky Tonk Man, and yes she brought a guitar with her down to the ring. Hard to know whether to take her serious as she had limited success in VCW, but looked impressive tonight.
Post-Match interview with Joe Aiello, where Jessica Judd gives the typical, I came here to win the belt, this is where the competition is speech, nothing new here. However Aiello also tells us that next week we will have another woman premiere in RCW, as ladies are coming from all over to try and take the crown from the monstrous TrummerFrauen. Next week we will have a cousin of Trish Stratus, her name is Larissa Stratus and she is incredibly fit just like her cousin.
Award Ceremony - Manager of the Decade (1990's) - Nick Bockwinkel This one was a no-brainer, as Bock is a RCW Hall of Famer, and won the Manager of the Year 5 times in the 90's. A highlight package is shown of Bock as a wrestler, manager, and commissioner. However, Bockwinkel is not on hand to accept the award, but did send a video greeting.
Bout #6 Johnny Devine & Greg Pawluk defeated Moses Luke & Barry Darsow by pinfall when Pawluk pinned Darsow after a top rope headscissor takedown at 8:09 **Luke still looked very good, and Darsow was fine, but they had no chemistry as a team while Devine and Pawluk have been teaming for over a year (previously in Stampede).
Promo Video: We see the Road Warriors in a grungy Chicago gym training Tony Twist. The three of them say that they want vengeance for last week. They tell the Spinebusters to sign Cowboy Bob Orton out again from the old folks home, and next week they'll retire him and the busters for good. At the end of the video Twist see's a guy working out in a Chicago Blackhawks t-shirt, so he walks over, slaps him in the head, and then takes him over with a snap suplex.
Televised Main Event Hardcore Match Vampiro defeated Balls Mahoney by pinfall after the nail in the coffin at 10:32 **the first half of this bout, while rough, actually showcased that both men can truly wrestle, even chain wrestle. However, the last half was brutal and spent more time outside the ring then inside. The biggest factor in the bout was that Vamp busted Balls open, and you could see him gradually weaken. In the end Vamp speared him through a table set up in the corner of the ring, and then nailed his finisher to win.
Post-Match: Vampiro tells champion Nick Mercury that he will be the next victim.
Vignette: This is very unusual for RCW to end with a promo. We see a "Welcome to the city of Thunder Bay" highway sign fly past, darkness, then we have home video style footage including Nick Mercury setting up his video camera in what apparently is a high school classroom.
Nick Mercury>>>Hello, River City Wrestling fans. Today I have a special treat for you, as I am live in Vampiro's hometown, where he grew up, Thunder Bay Ontario, Canada. It's a beautiful little city, located on the banks of Lake Superior. Of course when Vamp was growing up here he was known by his real name..Ian..umm..Ian Hodgke...Hodgkinnn....Hodginksssonnnn. Can we just call him little Ian? I am here with Ian's high school teacher Mrs. Spinster. [Mrs. Spinster is sitting across the desk from Mercury. She looks like a stereotypical teacher, almost too stereotypical, and looks to be in her late 60's?]. Now Mrs. Spinster, can you tell us a little bit about what Ian was like as a child? Mrs. Spinster>>>>Certainly, Nicholas, but please dear sit up...my word..your posture! Now Ian, was a handful to say the least, a bit of the devil in that child. But he had it hard, so many of the young children from around here face challenges of broken homes and substance abuse. I'm not sure the extent of Ian's problems but he was very anti-social. I understand he was quite the good hockey player..a goaltender though..and well, goalies too have a certain reputation as, well they tend to be a queer lot. Mercury>>>I'm sorry Mrs. Spinster, we don't say derogatory things like queer anymore... Spinster>>>Oh dear, I'm sorry, I'm just an old British lady. I meant queer as in different than the other children. Poor Ian didn't have many friends, and had no self confidence, he struggled in school but was always diligent and a pleaser. You know, I think poor Ian actually had a bit of a crush on me... Mercury>>>Oh really? So he liked the older ladies then? Spinster>>>well, heavens, I don't think girls his age gave him the time of day, he seemed to prefer more mature conversation. Now, I was 15 years younger, so a spry mid 50's, and I never did marry, so I admit to being flattered by a young man's attention... Mercury>>>oh really?... Spinster>>>of course nothing ever happened, it was just some harmless flirting, but then again there was Mrs. Dahlberg, the History teacher. Now there were rumors about Ian and Louise Dahlberg.. Mercury>>>please tell!! Spinster>>oh I couldn't...that wouldn't be proper..oh well, I guess it was just some harmless fun. Well see Mrs. Dahlberg was always complaining about her husband, you know, not doing his husbandly duties...and well..let's see...she was about 5 years my senior, so at that time I guess she would have been around 60. Anyway, if little Ian flirted a little with me, well he was full press on Louise. There were rumors of course, of an illicit love affair, but nothing was ever proven. We didn't talk openly about those things back then. Mercury>>>Thanks so much for spending time with us today Mrs. Spinster. Ian's fans really appreciate it. You would be pleased at the fine upstanding citizen that Ian has become. Spinster>>>You are very welcome. Can you tell me though what Ian is up to these days? Mercury>>>Sure. He wears face make up to work every day, and a costume... Spinster>>ohhhh, is he a clown? Mercury>>>he sure is Mrs. Spinster, he sure is one funny clown.

Dark Match after RAGE
Main Event Six-Man Tag Match Sam Holiday, Al Hardamann, & Marcus Schultz defeated Stan Baker, Manny Silva, & Kurrgan (/w Lord Zoltan) by pinfall when Schultz pinned Baker after a Northern lights suplex bridge at 16:39 **solid match, if not a bit predictable, with each man getting a chance to shine, and each taking a turn playing Ricky Morton. In the end with the other four men brawling outside the ring, Schultz blocked a heart punch from the TV champ, nailed a German suplex, then followed up with the finisher.

Dark Matches before Rage
Opening Bout Greg Pawluk defeated Eric Scott by pinfall after a top rope flying clothesline at 7:39 **a minor upset between two relatively young workers.
Bout #2 Balls Mahoney and Lodi battled to a no-contest at 5:50 **Lodi controlled early, but Mahoney was on the comeback trail. The action spilled outside and as the two brawled, Vampiro suddenly appeared with a steel chair and laid out first Mahoney and then Lodi.
Bout #3 Moses Luke defeated Johnny Devine by pinfall after a running powerslam at 9:01 **very solid, big man vs fast man match. After the bout as it looked like Luke may want to inflict some more punishment, Devine's partner Pawluk showed up to make sure that didn't happen.
Bout #4 Kurrgan (/w Lord Zoltan) defeated Al Hardamann by pinfall after a tombstone piledriver at 7:43 **well actually it was after two tombstone piledrivers as Hardamann kicked out after the first one. He put up quite a fight against the Acadian giant.
Bout #5 Sam Holiday defeated Manny Silva (/w Lord Zoltan) by disqualification for outside interference (Zoltan) at 10:25 **another very solid, if not by the numbers, match. Holiday actually seemed to be imposing his will on Silva and had more of the advantage. Zoltan decided not to risk his charge losing and tripped up Holiday. It was the last straw after some earlier interference that was let go. After the bout Zoltan and Silva tried to double team Holiday. They were joined by Kurrgan, but Holiday was joined by Hardamann and a steel chair to even the odds.
RCW RAGE - One Hour Episode
To start the program Joe Aiello has a new color commentator on a permanent basis. Jim Davies has retired and his spot has been filled with former RCW and SAWF Heavyweight champion, Linley Tolbert. The new guy has a bit of a heel tint to his glasses but he just prefers guys that can actually wrestle, are tough, and don't whine and complain.
A recap and highlights of the dark matches is shown.
Bout #6 Stacey Lynn defeated Becky Hennig by pinfall after a sitout facebuster at 6:03 **the premiere of Lynn, who the announcers say was supposed to be wrestling as Larissa Stratus. The blonde fit specimen wrestled with a chip on her shoulder, going at Hennig before the opening bell. In addition to the finisher she nailed an impressive Samoan drop and a twisting top rope splash.
Post-Match: Stacey Lynn is interviewed by Linley Tolbert who asks about the name change. Before she answers she calls Becky Hennig back to the ring, and after some trepidation the daisy duke clad Hennig shook Lynn's hand. Lynn said it was nothing personal against Hennig but she is pissed off. Yes, they wanted her to wrestle as Larissa Stratus, a so called cousin of Trish Stratus from the WWF. Lynn says that she is the most known face, and body, of the female fitness scene, and fans will know her as the girl posing in some pics with Trish. However, Lynn says she is here to stand on her own, and on her own name and reputation for hard work. Lynn then tells Becky that everyone knows she isn't related to the actual Hennig family, that it is just fake to try and get her over. But now she is stuck even after having established herself. Lynn says Becky is from West Virginia, not Minnesota. Stacey says she isn't going to let that happen to her, and if anyone has a problem with that we can settle it in the ring. Becky really doesn't look happy with Stacey at all.
Bout #7 RCW Television Title Match Stan Baker defeated Marcus Schultz by pinfall after a heartpunch at 8:45 [Stan Baker retained the RCW Television Title] **yes we have seen this match before but Schultz kind of won another shot last week during the six man tag match. Baker used his power to control more of the bout than Schultz could with his amateur wrestling and ground game. Once again when he went for the heartpunch though it was blocked by Schultz. However a minute later, Baker sent Schultz to the ropes, closed the space, and as Schultz came off the ropes with momentum Baker nailed the heartpunch and then got the pin.
Vampiro comes to the ring with a microphone. He admits to being very upset at Nick Mercury's little skit last week where he made up things. He calls Mercury a child, and says wrestling is a man's game. A little bit of blood and he runs home to Mommy. He says the only old lady he's banged was Mercury's Mom (which does not get any reaction from the crowd, which pisses him off even more). Finally, Vampiro tells Mercury he's going to pay for that skit next week. You want blood? You got it. It'll be a First Blood match next week.
The announcers inform us that next week of course is the St. Patrick's Day Shenanigans edition. Tolbert points out that since it's the 18th most of the partiers will still be hung over. Aiello reminds us that as per tradition, next week will also be the announcement of who, if anyone, has been elected into the RCW Hall of Fame. Last year, due in part to the change in management there were no additions.
Main Event Six-Man Tag Match The Road Warriors: Hawk & Animal & Tony Twist defeated Spinebusters: Jerry Orth & Bryan Caruthers & Bob Orton Jr by pinfall when Animal pinned Orton after a doomsday device at 10:53 **interesting match. The tag teams were able to shelter their 3rd men for a while, and then Twist and Orton faced each other one on one. Twist nailed a couple punches, a discus punch, an atomic drop, a big clotheslines, and then a kneedrop from the second buckle. He hesitated when going for a suplex though and Orton countered with a knee to the gut, and a hanging vertical suplex. After some stomps and a lariat he tagged out. The 'busters cut off the ring and Twist played Ricky Morton for a couple minutes before giving Orth a "Gordie Howe" back elbow in the corner and tagged out. It was all Warriors now, and this was followed by a six man brawl. Twist went for a plancha but missed and wrecked himself outside the ring. But the Roadies were fine without him, taking out the two 'busters before nailing their finisher on Orton. The Warriors celebrated after the bout while the medical staff were examining Twist outside the ring.

River City Wrestling #824 March 18, 2000 Milwaukee, WI "St. Patrick's Week" Shenanigans
Opening Bout Marcus Schultz defeated Boss Strickland by pinfall after a Northern lights suplex at 11:44 **very good match, but a bit slow at time. Both these guys had recent careers as NCAA wrestlers and know the ground game. The similarities between the two ends there though as Strickland is an arrogant cheat while Schultz is a slice of humble pie wrapped up in a slice of all-American apple pie.
Promo: Joe Aiello is joined in the ring by Commissioner Greg Gagne. They run down the program for tonight including the "First Blood" match between champion Nick Mercury and Vampiro. There are two preliminary matches of interest though being Sam Holiday and Kurrgan as well as Al Hardamann getting his hands on Lord Zoltan in the ring. Gagne calls out Lord Zoltan, and when he tries to bring his goons Kurrgan and Silva to the ring he sends them back, only allowing Zoltan to enter the ring. Gagne says that tonight Zoltan's man Manny Silva will get a shot at the television title held by Stan Baker in the semi-main event. However, that match will be downgraded to a non-title match if Zoltan, Kurrgan, or Silva interfere in anyone's matches tonights. He suggests they lock themselves in their dressing room and only come out when road agent Vic Gate gets them for their matches.
Bout #2 Stacey Lynn defeated Sheona Stewart by pinfall after a sitout facebuster at 6:00 **fairly easy win for the fit Lynn. Sheona is a sweet girl but is really a female version of a jobber.
Bout #3 Hardcore Match Lodi defeated Balls Mahoney by pinfall after a DDT on a steel chair at 7:32 **this was a rematch of sorts from last week when their bout was interrupted by Vampiro. Solid match that could have gone either way.
Bout #4 Jessica Judd defeated Becky Hennig by disqualification for use of a foreign object (guitar) at 8:45 **another solid match that could have gone either way. Stacey Lynn though came down to ringside to watch, and once Judd started to take over the bout Lynn goaded Hennig into taking Judd's guitar and smacking her over the head, breaking the guitar.
Bout #5 Al Hardamann defeated Lord Zoltan by pinfall after a vertebreaker at 6:56 **Zoltan (Ken Jugan) went to the Larry Zbyszko school of match pacing and stalling. He knows his wrestling but quite frankly looks like the only time he sees a gym is when he picks up Little Caesars from next door.
Bout #6 Texas Tornado Tag Match Greg Pawluk & Johnny Devine defeated Moses Luke & Eric Scott by pinfall when Devine pinned Scott after a top rope plancha at 9:30 **so it is obvious that when Pawluk and Devine are together as a team they can handle Moses Luke and whomever he teams with but only when they are together. The Tornado format means all four men were legal, so the action was just as much outside as inside.
RCW RAGE - One Hour Episode
The show opens with the Hall of Fame Committee members Stan Mullen, The Destroyer, Chris Lyon, Mike Valiant, Jim Brunzell, & Tawney England all on hand. Tawney talks about how last year there was no entrant to the hall of fame since the company had gone another direction. Chris Lyon then tells fans that one of the things they do consider is the ability and willingness of the candidates to show up live in April for the induction ceremony. While no names are mentioned it did make people wonder if there was someone specific. Jim Brunzell then says they decided this year that since last year was skipped, and there were plenty of worthy and willing candidates to induct two new members. The Destroyer (still wearing his mask) announces the first one is a Two Time Heavyweight champion. The first time he won the belt was in Aug of 86 and incredibly held it until Oct of 87, a major feat in modern wrestling. The second time was in Aug of 90 and he was defeated for the belt in Dec of 90. This was a guy who with his power was never a preliminary wrestler, he seemed to have been born into main events, and was absolutely hated by the fans, new RCW Hall of Famer; Stranger Steve Disalvo. Mike Valiant announces the second inductee is also a two time Heavyweight champion, winning it in May 90 and losing it in Aug 90 to Disalvo. He then won it again in Sep 91 and lost it in Feb 92. But almost more importantly he was such a well known and major star, including his time in WWF feuding with Hulk Hogan, that his appearances in RCW really helped grow and legitimize the company. The second inductee next month will be new RCW Hall of Famer; "Mr. Wonderful" Paul Orndorff.
Bout #7 Sam Holiday defeated Kurrgan (/w Lord Zoltan) by pinfall after a top rope leg drop at 9:27 **the announcers reminded us that if Lord Zoltan interfered in this bout than his man Manny Silva would forfeit his title shot next. Zoltan was tempted on multiple occasions but always hung back. In fact Holiday used it to his advantage by menacing the manager, and making Kurrgan come rescue him from harm. All the extra footsteps didn't benefit the Acadian giant. In the end Kurrgan was winded. Holiday nailed a top rope bulldog, then went back to the top and came down with a top rope legdrop. Zoltan jumped on the ring apron, but caught himself from interfering, allowing Holiday to finish the upset win. Kurrgan was not happy with his manager after the bout.
Interview: This was a taped segment with Linley Tolbert having interviewed Tony Twist from his St. Louis home. He is recovering well from his injury which while scary turned out to just be a stinger. He is sore, but happy that he and the Road Warriors had beaten the Spinebusters and Orton. When asked about his wrestling future Twist said he was still thinking it over and was considering some more training and perhaps a second career. When asked if he was going to be in the Road Warriors corner next week when they defend the Tag belts against the 'busters he said he wasn't really thinking about that right now, and hadn't talked to the Road Warriors.
Bout #8 RCW Television Title Match Stan Baker defeated Manny Silva (/w Lord Zoltan) by disqualification for outside interference at 10:01 [Stan Baker retained the RCW Television Title] **Baker was unaccustomed to being cheered by the crowd but tonight the enemy of their enemy was their friend; as the fans have a long hatred of Mad Dog Manny Silva, and a more recent but strong hatred for Zoltan. Being the defacto babyface however did not mean Baker had to clean up his act. This was a pier six brawl. It was fairly even and both men were beaten down. On a criss cross of the wrestlers when Silva was in trouble, Zoltan intentionally reached in and tripped up the referee Kenny Jay. With Jay temporarily out of it, Zoltan climbed the top rope and came off with a big double axhandle to the back of Baker. Silva hit the wheelbarrow suplex, covered, but Kenny Jay asked for the bell. He indicated that he had seen Zoltan come off the top rope and had disqualified Silva. Earlier in the night Kurrgan was not happy his manager had not interfered, and now Silva was mad at Zoltan because he got caught interfering. This was just not Zoltan's night!
A gratuitous St. Patrick's Week "Miss Irish" bikini contest was held with Stacey Lynn clearly the fan's winner over Becky Hennig, Sheona Stewart, and Jessica Judd. Lynn of course is a former fitness model, so not only was she a knockout, but she felt more comfortable playing to the crowd in a bikini. The other 3 girls looked embarrassed to be in the ring in a bikini.
A brief summary of the feud between RCW Heavyweight champion Nick Mercury and Vampiro.
Main Event RCW Heavyweight Title Match First Blood Match Nick Mercury defeated Vampiro in a First Blood match at 8:36 [Nick Mercury retained the RCW Heavyweight Title] **first blood matches are a bit of a crazy match, you never know what will happen, when an innocent move can cause blood, or a vicious one fails. Vampiro seemed to go savage right from the start, not wanting to keep the bout inside the ring at all. He used, or tried to use, the ring steps, steel chair, the announce table, and then he produced a fork. On the other hand the champ was just trying to counterpunch. Finally, the challenger changed tactics, and inside the ring grabbed the advantage and nailed his nail in the coffin finisher. He covered, but was reminded by Buddy Lane it was a first blood match. Vampiro left the ring and returned with the Heavyweight title belt. He decided to come off the top with the title belt to try and bust the champ open. But Mercury raised a leg and Vamp collided with it, driving the belt into his head. He went down in a heap. Mercury got to his feet, and took a few seconds to put the tag belt around his waist. He then turned Vamp over and held his head up with one hand while he peppered in fists with the other. He busted him open, hardway, and when Lane saw the blood called for the bell. A nice, decisive win for the champ.
Post-Match: We are just going off the air when Vampiro attacked Nick Mercury from behind, as we

River City Wrestling #825 March 25, 2000 Des Moines, Iowa
Opening Bout Vampiro defeated Darren Dalton by pinfall after the nail in the coffin at 5:11 **glorified squash match. Vampiro made a point though of busting open Dalton, probably still upset after losing the First Blood match to Nick Mercury last week.
Bout #2 Lodi defeated Johnny Devine by pinfall after a top rope neckbreaker at 7:31 **Devine did alright but Lodi is rolling through his matches so far and needs some better competition.
Bout #3 Triangle Match Moses Luke defeated Stan Saxon and Greg Pawluk by pinfall when he pinned Saxon after a spear at 6:50 **Good win for Luke. Pawluk and Devine show once again they are better as a tag team than singles. Three straight wins for the bad guys tonight.
Bout #4 Non-Title Match Nick Mercury defeated "Porno" Tony Gold by pinfall after a slingshot suplex at 5:32 **squash match for the Heavyweight champion.
Bout #5 Marcus Schultz & Al Hardamann defeated Kurrgan & Lord Zoltan by pinfall when Hardamann pinned Zoltan after a vertebreaker at 9:43 **Was practically a handi-cap match with Zoltan only wanting to be in the ring after Kurrgan handed him a downed opponent. In the end though the manager even managed to get that wrong and ended up losing on a Schultz hot tag to his partner. Kurrgan, frustrated with his manager, didn't even bother to try and make the save.
RCW RAGE - One Hour Episode
Review of the matches from earlier in the night.
Review of the Road Warriors - Spinebusters feud.
Bout #6 North American Women's Title Match TrummerFrauen defeated Hollywood Jeanne Basone by pinfall after a full nelson slam at 7:09 [TrummerFrauen retained the North American Women's Title] **stiff competition for the champ, as the legendary Hollywood, a 3-time women's champion returned for a shot. Hollywood used her speed and experience to keep the champ off balance for as long as possible. But the match turned when the challenger had a flying bodypress turned into a crucifix powerbomb.
Backstage: The cameras come into a dressing room where Vampiro is beating the living crap out of the Heavyweight champion Nick Mercury, who is in his street clothes, gym bag next to him, and Vamp has busted him wide open. The camera actually pans away to show only the feet because of the huge quantity of blood. Finally RCW officials and security arrive on scene to break it up.
Bout #7 RCW Television Title Match Triangle Match Stan Baker defeated Manny Silva (/w Lord Zoltan) and Sam Holiday by pinfall when Baker pinned Silva after a heartpunch at 10:58 [Stan Baker retained the RCW Television Title] **Baker is turning out to be a much stronger TV champion than some pundits had expected. This was a hard fought three way bout. In the end Holiday got tied up with Zoltan outside the ring which distracted Silva. Baker nailed him with a big double axhandle from behind, then a heartpunch finisher. Nothing is going right for Zoltan.
Commissioner Greg Gagne comes to the ring for a fairly rare appearance. He doesn't look happy. Gagne says that he just talked to Nick Mercury and the champion demanded a match with Vampiro next week. He said that a First Blood match obviously was not enough to settle this, so he requested a "Last Blood" match, where the only way the match can end would be with a doctor's stoppage for blood loss. At first we didn't want to sanction this but but both men said that if we didn't they would just give the bout away for free in the parking lot instead. So that Last Blood match for the Heavyweight title will be the main event next week. Since next week's card falls on April 1st we had decided to do more of an April Fool's Day special card. What we have decided is that the Last Blood match will be the main event in the arena next week, but will not be televised. We will show what highlights we can the following week. Due to the expected savagery of the bout not only will it not be allowed to be on television but we have decided that no children under the age of 14 will be allowed in the arena that night, and all children under 18 would still need to be accompanied by an adult. In addition to that bout we have signed cohorts Kurrgan and Manny Silva to face each other in a #1 heavyweights contenders bout. Oh, and the special guest referee for that bout will be their own manager Lord Zoltan. Becky Hennig has also challenged Stacey Lynn to a bout next week with an interesting stipulation. The loser will have to change their ring name. If Stacey loses she will now go as Larissa Stratus (the name RCW originally wanted to bring her in under, and if Becky loses she will drop the Hennig moniker and go with her real name). We will also have a special "bad gimmicks" tag team match that you will have to see to believe. ...and there will be even more madness..so April Fool's Day!!
Main Event RCW Tag Team Title Match The Spinebusters: Jerry Orth & Bryan Caruthers defeated The Road Warriors: Hawk & Animal by pinfall when Orth pinned Animal after a stuffed piledriver (and outside interference) at 11:15 [The Spinebusters won the RCW Tag Team Titles] **big upset. These two teams have now put in some great matches with each other and this one was no exception. The Roadies controlled early, and then the Busters made a comeback. The champs seemed to have things in hand when Hawk and Caruthers got tangled up outside the ring. When the two tried to get back inside they got tangled up with referee Buddy Lane. Caruthers was able to push Hawk back out of the ring and then follow him to keep him busy. In the meantime Orth was battling with Animal. Tony Twist appeared from the back, jumped up on the apron and clobbered Animal from behind. Orth then set him up for a piledriver while Twist went to the top and turned it into a spiked piledriver (all the while Lane was tied up). The champs and Twist then grabbed their belts and got the hell out of dodge before sundown. This will be the Spinebusters second title reign and the 75th of the title lineage.
The ring filled with debris, as we

River City Wrestling #826 April 1, 2000 Duluth, Minnesota
Opening Bout RoboCop & Shockmaster defeated Poulty in Motion: Red Rooster & Gobblygooker by pinfall when the Gooker pinned Shockmaster after a stink face at 10:07 **okay so this match was an April Fool's Day special. RoboCop was played by Stan Saxon and Shockmaster was played by Darren Dalton. Rooster was played by Porno Tony Gold, and the Gooker was played by El Sphincter Bungholio. The fans actually enjoyed the bout, and saw it for what it was, a tribute to fromage, and not just a slap in the face parody. The four men even took off pieces of their costumes after the bout to reveal themselves, took a bow, and then even took an impromptu curtain call (ala the MSG Kliq) in all 4 corners.
Bout #2 Non-Title Match Lodi defeated TrummerFrauen and Puppet by pinfall when Lodi pinned Puppet after a superplex at 7:31 **well another April Fool's day match, but this one didn't seem to resonate as much with the fans. Lodi wasn't overly happy having to face an Amazonian woman and a dwarf, but at least he picked up the win. TrummerFrauen actually watched the finishing move from the ring apron and did nothing to stop it or break it up; apparently not too happy with the match either.
Bout #3 Moses Luke defeated Squeegee Kid by pinfall after a powerslam (and with his feet on the ropes) at 6:37 **even though he lost, Squeegee (from Toronto) gave a real good showing. He used a stick and move and high flying attack to counter the power of Luke. In the end the bigger man had to cheat to pull off the win. Squeegee was probably seen at first as another joke by the fans, but not by the end of the bout.
Bout #4 Eric Scott & Vincent Regliatti defeated Greg Pawluk & Johnny Devine by pinfall when Regliatti pinned Devine after a missile dropkick at 12:08 **as previously mentioned Regliatti and Scott had previously teamed in some Ontario indy feds. Regliatti is also a former RCW Heavyweight champion and this was his first match back from injury. Both teams looked good, but the difference was the heels cheated during a ref bump by using a steel chair to set up the win. This spells rematch.
RCW RAGE - One Hour Episode
Commissioner Greg Gagne comes to the ring dressed as "Rambo" Greg Gagne, a self parody of his much maligned 80's gimmick during the dying days of the AWA. Gagne takes a curtsey to the fans cheers for his self deprecating humour. Greg fires up the crowd asking them how they liked the matches so far on this special April Fool's Day edition? While he sets up the rest of the night, in reality his main purpose seems to be to keep the gags rolling.
Bout #5 "Renaming Match" Stacey Lynn defeated Becky Hennig by pinfall after a sitout facebuster at 8:00 **Hennig fought on the defensive the entire bout as Lynn was just too fit and aggressive for her. By the stipulations of this bout Hennig will need to drop that fake moniker and assume her real name.
Post-Match: Jessica Judd slides into the ring with her guitar. It looks like she is looking for some revenge against Hennig who previously had hit her with the guitar, but instead Judd turns around and lays out Lynn by breaking the guitar over her head.
Post-Post Match: As Judd makes her way to the dressing room, she is confronted by champion TrummerFrauen, who kicks her in the gut and then delivers a chokeslam on the concrete floor.
Bout #6 #1 Heavyweight Contenders Match Special Guest Referee: Lord Zoltan Kurrgan defeated Manny Silva by pinfall after a tombstone piledriver 2:11 **the April Fool's joke was supposed to be on Zoltan as Gagne arranged to have the manager's two men have to face each other, with him as the arbitrator. However, Zoltan tried to turn the joke around on Gagne, as after some basic sparring Silva delivered the "finger poke of doom" on Kurrgan who stumbled, went down to one knee, a second "finger poke of doom", Silva covered, 1, 2, KICKOUT!! Zoltan and Silva looked very confused as Kurrgan got to his feet. He clotheslined Silva, came off the ropes with a running clothesline, chokeslam, cover...Zoltan was going nuts trying to get Kurrgan to lie down. Kurrgan got up, delivered the tombstone piledriver, and then pulled Zoltan down to the mat, and forced him to make the count.
Bout #7 RCW Tag Team Title Match Spinebusters: Jerry Orth & Bryan Caruthers (/w Tony Twist) and Road Warriors: Hawk & Animal battled to a no-contest at 0:00 [Spinebusters retained the RCW Tag Team Titles] **a moral victory, or immoral victory if you will for the former champs. This match obviously never got started. The challengers were in the ring, when the champs music "Until it Sleeps" by Metallica played and they came out guided by Tony Twist, the challengers abandoned the ring and went right after them. At no point in the over five minute brawl that ensued was there enough control to start the bout. The challengers really wanted a big piece of Tony Twist and although it was 3 on 2, the monsters from Chicago controlled the brawl. RCW officials tried to step in and the champs were happy to allow them but the Road Warriors would have none of it and tossed aside the refs and road agents like they were trash. Finally enough men came out of the dressing room to break it up, but by then the champions were both busted open.
After a commercial break Greg Gagne came to the ring and announced that due to what just happened the Road Warriors would be suspended for at least 30 days. The fans jeered him. He said he understood their frustrations, but RCW officials could not be treated that way by anyone. However, in light of Tony Twist's actions, he would be making his solo premiere appearance next week against an opponent of the Road Warriors choice! Also because of the short nature of the last couple matches there is excess time, so the start of the Last Blood match will be shown on TV, and an edited version will be shown next week of the rest.
Main Event RCW Heavyweight Title Match Last Blood Match Special Guest Referee: Dr. John Manfried Nick Mercury (champion) vs Vampiro **Match started with Mercury going right to work on Vampiro, smacking him around the ring, and then around the ringside area. The two then brawled into the crowd, and up a set of stairs, and then back down again. Nothing scientific in this bout. The announcers inform us that there is no referee for this bout as it can only end by Doctor stoppage due to blood loss. Therefore the doctor in charge is Dr. John Manfried. The match spills back into the ring and Vampiro hits the nail in the coffin finisher...as we run out of time...
FADE TO BLACK
...the match continues live with Vampiro retrieving the ring bell hammer and trying to hit Mercury who blocks it. The match continues in and out of the ring, both men getting busted open by shots into the guardrail, announce table, ring steps, ringpost, and steel chairs. The Doctor has cause to halt the match momentarily once to check on the champion and once the challenger but both times calls for the match to continue. Of course the Doctor made the "mistake" of wearing white scrubs and is now also covered in blood splatter. The match is somewhat entertaining for the live crowd but a bit of a mess. Then we got a screw job finish to end the April Fool's Day card. Mercury tossed Vamp out of the ring and then tried to follow up with a baseball slide. But Vamp pulled Manried in the way and he took the blunt of the kick getting knocked out. Vamp then came off the ring apron with a somersault splash on Mercury. The challenger then crawled under the ring and emerged with a full big ice cream container of blood. He removed the lid, Mercury was stirring so he nailed him with a DDT, then poured the blood over his face and head. Vamp woke up the ref and put on a aura of concern to the groggy physician, who saw the champ face up, not moving, in a whole lot of blood and immediately called for the bell. The fans were irate and began to pelt things at the new champion. However, we do have a new champion, Vampiro wins his first RCW Heavyweight title and starts the 55th reign in that belt's 20 year history; ending Nick Mercury's first reign. Vampiro defeated Nick Mercury by doctor stoppage for blood loss in a Last Blood Match at 11:58 [Vampiro wins the RCW Heavyweight Title]

Dark Matches before RAGE
Opening Bout Moses Luke defeated Squeegee Kid by pinfall after a running powerslam at 7:33 **rematch after Luke had to put his feet on the ropes to win last week. This time the Kid started strong but then Luke took over with his power. The finishing move was actually Luke scooping Kid up, running him back first into the top buckle, and then delivering a running powerslam.
Bout #2 Texas Tornado Match Greg Pawluk & Johnny Devine defeated Eric Scott & Vincent Regliatti by pinfall when Devine pinned Scott after a shooting star splash at 9:12 **Another rematch from last week's cheating, but this time the faces prevailed. They made this a Texas Tornado match meaning all four men were legal. It was back and forth, but in the end it seemed like the better team won.
Bout #3 Al Hardamann and Jerry Orth battled to a double countout at 7:04 **one half of the tag champs in single action.
Bout #4 Sam Holiday defeated Bryan Caruthers by pinfall after a top rope legdrop at 9:51 **very good match. Holiday seemed to have the upper hand through much of the match but Caruthers had about a 3 minute stretch in the middle where he punished Holiday with simple but strong knees, elbows, and suplexes but was unable to put him away. Holiday was wrapping the bout up when Orth came out to try and interfere, but Hardamann came out and tackled Orth to the ground so that his friend could finish the job.
Bout #5 North American Women's Title Match Three Way Match TrummerFrauen and Stacey Lynn and Jessica Judd battled to a no-contest (outside interference by Becky) at 6:15 [TrummerFrauen retained the North American Women's Title] **Lynn and Judd realized that they needed to team up on the more powerful champ but when Lynn started to order around Judd she turned on the fitness model. The champ pretended to to work with Judd against Lynn but then turned on her at the last minute. Judd was thrown out of the ring and went and retrieved her guitar. Before she could enter the ring though Becky appeared from the back, grabbed the guitar out of her hands from behind and levelled Judd. She then entered the ring with the broken guitar to attack the champ. It turned into a three way, and then Judd joined again and it was a fiasco that was thrown out.
RCW RAGE - One Hour Episode
The show opens of course with highlights from the dark matches earlier in the night.
Bout #6 Non-Title Match Vampiro defeated Marcus Schultz by pinfall after a nail in the coffin at 10:00 **very good match between the new champion and a young rising star. In the end Vamp's willingness to cheat and his experience to get him there were the difference.
Interview: Joe Aiello is in the ring to interview Vampiro who brags about beating Nick Mercury for the Heavyweight title last week. Aiello says he cheated, and says they will be showing highlights of that bout next. Vampiro says there was nothing in the rules against using a bucket of blood and it's not his fault he is the smartest guy in the room. Speak of the devil, Nick Mercury comes to the ring and he's carrying a big steel bucket. Vamp holds his arms up and keeps his distance. He tells Mercury he is unpriginal and always one step behind him, and that's why he lost. The usual chatty Mercury for his part has not said a single word and it is unnerving to the champ. As Mercury closes in with the bucket Vamp tries to exit the ring. He's too slow though and as he's between the ropes Mercury unloads the bucket on Vamp...it's confetti, and he's covered but unharmed. Aiello says it looks like the Harlem Globetrotters are in town. As Vamp climbs back into the ring, looking pissed off, Mercury nails him in the head with the steel bucket. He hits him again and again and again...and the bucket is a twisted, dented mess, and so is the champ's head, as he's busted wide open. Finally Mercury speaks, and he tells Vamp, he's not done yet, next week will be their final chapter. Whatever match Greg Gagne wants, he'll sign.
Highlights of last week's "Last Blood" match where Vampiro won the title in controversial fashion, using a bucket of blood to fool Dr. John Manfried.
Bout #7 Handi-Cap Match Kurrgan defeated Manny Silva & Lord Zoltan by disqualification for use of a foreign object (cane) at 6:13 **former stable mates Kurrgan and Silva and their former/current manager Zoltan are pitted against each other after their violent break-up after the "finger poke of doom" last week. All 3 men started to brawl in the middle of the ring right from the start. There seemed to be no rhyme or reason as to whether it was supposed to be a tag style or all men legal as referee Kenny Jay really didn't seem to care to try and keep order. Zoltan was an annoyance and a couple times attacked the knees of the giant Acadian, but for the most part Kurrgan was able to fend both of them off. No one really seemed to care about trying to win the bout, in fact there were no submissions or pinfall attempts. Finally Zoltan couldn't stand it anymore and grabbed his walking cane and used the large claw knob of the top to nail Kurrgan in the head. It didn't drop him but a second shot staggered him, and then Silva kicked him in the groin, high knee lift, and then a spear to tackle him to the mat. The ref called for the bell. A two on one beatdown was on until RCW officials could break it up.
Joe Aiello is in the ring and is joined by the Commissioner Greg Gagne. He is asked about Mercury's challenge to Vampiro earlier in the night and what RCW is going to do about it. First off Gagne has a really good chuckle. Then he says he commends Mercury not only on his mind games with the little Thunder Bay skit a few weeks back, and tonight's mind games, but also how he has stuck with it and fought any style that was required. However Gagne says, this is River City Wrestling...where Wrestling appears on the marquee, it is not Barb Wire City. This feud is great but has to come to a completion now so that the champ can move on to other challengers. So next week there will be a final blow off match, but that will be it. If Mercury wins the title then there will be no immediate rematch for Vampiro, he will have to earn it against all the other hungry competitors. On the other hand if Vampiro wins then this will be it for Mercury for a while. However, the caveat on that is that it has to be a clean, decisive win. If either man cheats his way to victory than Gagne says he will think about suspensions and stripping the title. And just to make sure it's not a fluke, the bout will be best 2 out of 3 falls, and if it comes down to a 3rd fall that fall will have to be won by submission only. The commissioner says we want a definite answer on who the better man is.
Turning to tonight's main event, Tony Twist makes his first singles appearance, and after turning on the Road Warriors, they were allowed to name Twist's opponent for tonight. Well the Roadies went on the phone and brought in someone the fans will be familiar with for his first appearance in RCW.
Main Event Road Warriors Chose Twist's Opponent Paul Ellering defeated Tony Twist by submission to the full nelson at 4:29 **That's right the Roadies former manager, the leader of the Legion of Doom, and former AWA star Paul Ellering is the chosen man. Ellering of course has been pretty much retired, injuries forced him to the manager role, but he was able to have a limited wrestling match, and that's about all he needed against the inexperienced Twist. In fact Ellering's major move was some powerful open hand slaps to the face that left Twist red faced. Aiello told us that Ellering had to come all the way from the wilds of Alaska where he currently lives and competes in the Iditarod. Twist had his moments but seemed unnerved throughout. Ellering nailed a powerbomb, and then put on his finisher. Twist had no sooner submitted though when the Spinebusters hit the ring to attack Ellering.
Post-Match: Bryan Caruthers and Jerry Orth went right after Ellering. However, Sam Holiday and Al Hardamann hit the ring in street clothes to come to the rescue of the 47 year old legend. They cleaned house and sent the Busters and Twist heading fast to the dressing rooms. The duo then raised Ellering's arms in victory to an appreciative crowd.

Dark Matches Before Rage
Opening Bout Non-Title Match Stan Baker defeated Squeegee Kid by pinfall after a heart punch at 5:59 **glorified squash match for the TV champion.
Bout #2 Native Sons: Red Thunder & Wavell Starr defeated Darren Dalton & Stan Saxon by pinfall when Starr pinned Saxon after a Samoan back drop at 11:09 **the Native Sons are a new tag team to RCW, featuring two Native Canadians. Starr is a very athletic 6'0 235 lbs, pretty chiseled, while Thunder is about 6'0 as well but 255 lbs with a touch extra padding. They wrestled as baby faces and tagged well in and out, showing a surprising amount of power. Both are Stampede trained Western Canadians.
Bout #3 Vincent Regliatti defeated Greg Pawluk by submission to the figure-four at 9:01 **excellent match between two very good ground and technical wrestlers. Pawluk a product of Alberta's Stu Hart and Regs a product of Ontario's Ron Hutchinson. This and the next match continue the feud between these two teams where the tag matches have been split, one win each.
Bout #4 Johnny Devine defeated Eric Scott by pinfall after a missile dropkick at 7:12 **another good match between two guys trained at the same schools as their tag partners in the previous match. Devine prefers a bit more of a high flying style than pure wrestling, while Scott prefers a bit more of a power and grind down style. With the two teams splitting the singles matches, in addition to splitting their previous tag matches, it would seem to set the table for a blow off match.
Bout #5 #1 Triangle Top Contender Match for the TV Title Lodi defeated Moses Luke and Marcus Schultz by countout at 11:15 **although triangle matches can sometimes be awkward, this one had its very good moments. All three men actually looked strong and it was impossible to pick a clear cut winner. A brawl erupted with all 3 men outside the ring. Lodi charged at Luke who back flipped Lodi up and between the ropes sending him crashing to the mat. Realizing what was happening Schultz tried to run into the ring too but Luke, unaware, clotheslined him to the ground. Lodi was the only one to beat the 10 count.
Bout #6 #1 Heavyweight Contender Match Kurrgan defeated Manny Silva (/w Lord Zoltan) by pinfall after a chokeslam at 9:20 **honestly the fans have really got their money's worth tonight with some very entertaining matches. As Greg Gagne mentioned last week, the blow off tonight between Mercury and Vampiro will be their last, so a new #1 contender is required. This match between former partners and stablemates will decide that honour. Silva is one tough, mad, Hawaiian and he controlled early. However, Kurrgan used his power to take over the match. When Zoltan tried to interfere Kurrgan grabbed him by the throat and threw him off the apron to the ground below. He followed him out and gave his former manager a tombstone piledriver. When he reentered the ring of course Silva caught him with a running knee and took the bout over, temporarily. He went for the wheelbarrow suplex, but Kurrgan is so big and tall he just shifted his weight and slid off, and then took Silva down to the mat with a side Russian legsweep. Back on his feet Kurrgan nailed a hanging vertical suplex that he held onto for a good 10 seconds, and then nailed the chokeslam and picked up the win while Zoltan was still trying to get to his feet. Big win for the Big man.
Bout #7 TrummerFrauen & Jessica Judd defeated Stacey Lynn & Becky by pinfall when TrummerFrauen pinned Becky after a full nelson slam at 8:46 **this match was a train wreck, or rather a train crashing into a train wreck. Neither girl had any love for their partner, and the fans knew they hated the champion TrummerFrauen but all three other girls are what you would classify as tweeners. There was some fighting both verbally and physically between partners....
RCW RAGE - One Hour Episode
The show opens with the finale of the dark match
....and in the end TF just seemed to say screw this, and exerted her power. She chokeslammed Becky to the mat, then when Lynn did a run in she gave her a big boot and tossed her over the top rope. TF then nailed her finisher and picked up the win. When Judd entered the ring to get her arm raised too, TF nailed her with a chokeslam, took her belt from the announce table and left the ring area.
Post-Match: Lynn berates the other two girls saying they need to work with each other to defeat TF because she is a freak, maybe even a man-freak. Lynn even asks the other two if they have seen the champ in the shower to confirm she is a female? Judd just looks disgusted, leaves the ring, grabs her guitar and exits. Becky is about to leave the ring when Lynn grabs her. She says they had a deal, and when Becky lost her match to Lynn, not only was she supposed to drop the fake Hennig name but was supposed to user her own real name; not just wrestle as Becky. Lynn says she will talk to Gagne and get her suspended if she doesn't comply.
We see a highlight package of all the dark matches from earlier tonight.
Bout #8 Six-Man Tag Match Sam Holiday, Al Hardamann, and Paul Ellering defeated Bryan Caruthers, Jerry Orth, and Tony Twist by pinfall when Holiday pinned Orth after a top rope legdrop at 10:52 **basically a vehicle to set up Holiday and Hardamann as the #1 contenders for the tag belts held by Caruthers & Orth (the Spinebusters). Ellering and Twist saw limited action, especially Ellering. It was significant that Holiday pinned one of the tag champs and not just Twist to get the duke.
Interview with Sam Holiday and Al Hardamann, just to confirm they are the #1 contenders and will be seeking tag team gold next week.
Promo recap of the Vampiro - Nick Mercury feud including Mercury's classic vignette from Thunder Bay, the first blood match, the last blood match, the controversial title change, and Greg Gagne's edict that tonight's match be conclusive with 2 out of 3 falls, the 3rd in required being submission only, and if there is a shady ending he may hold up the title.
Main Event RCW Heavyweight Title Match Best 2 out of 3 Falls - 3rd fall would be submission only Vampiro (champion) vs. Nick Mercury **early in the first fall Mercury makes a mistake of coming off the top rope with an elbow, way too early. He lands hard and seems to injure his arm and shoulder. Vampiro quickly nails a German suplex and then his nail in the coffin, cover, 1, 2, 3. [Vampiro pins Nick Mercury after the nail in the coffin at 2:07; Vampiro leads 1-0] **the champion goes for a quick second fall victory as we get a series of frenetic chain wrestling but Vamp can't put him away. The champ then slows things down with a series of wear down holds including a front chancery, bodyscissors, abdominal stretch, and an STF. Frustrated Vamp tosses Mercury outside the ring and take the brawl out there. Referee Buddy Lane probably could have counted to 10, making this fall a draw, and that would have muddled things, and can't see Mercury having a path to victory if that happened. Instead Lane left the ring and eventually got the two men back inside. They had a criss cross segment, Vamp nailed a clotheslines, went for a piledriver but Mercury countered with head scissors, roll up, 1, 2, kickout. A series of go-behind switches, Mercury nails a Northern lights suplex, 2 count. Mercury kicked the champ in the gut and then nailed his version of a Thunder Death Driver, covered for the 3 count. [Nick Mercury pins Vampiro after a Thunder Death Driver at 8:13; tied 1-1 falls] **announcers Joe Aiello and Linley Tolbert reminded us that the decisive third fall could only happen by submission. Commissioner Greg Gagne came down to ringside as well to keep an eye on things, wanting this to be a clean win. Mercury controlled early but it didn't last and Vampiro soon went through a series of submission holds to no avail. Mercury made a comeback and nailed a missile dropkick, cover, and we had the obligatory reminder that this could not end with a pinfall. Mercury went for a Boston crab but Vampiro countered with an ankle lock, but Mercury got to the ropes. Mercury got back the advantage but made a mistake charging into the corner, Vamp moved out of the way, Mercury hit the ring post with his shoulder. Vampiro locked on the STF but Mercury reached the ropes, and after some kicks put on the Gorilla clutch. Vamp walked his way to the ropes for a break, and left the ring. He then reentered being chased by Mercury and caught him with a running knee, followed by a fist drop, and then he went back to the shoulder with two shoulderbreakers. Vamp then put on a twisting shoulder lock and Mercury cried uncle within seconds. [Vampiro defeated Nick Mercury by submission to the twisting shoulder lock at 19:08; Vampiro wins 2-1] [Vampiro retained the RCW Heavyweight Title]
Post-Match: Vampiro retrieves his belt and mocks Gagne that he beat him clean and no one will stop him. Gagne reminds Vampiro that next week he will face the new #1 contender. With that Kurrgan comes to the ring, challenges Vampiro who decides he wants nothing to do with the giant, as we

Dark Matches before Rage
Opening Bout Manny Silva (/w Lord Zoltan) defeated Tony Gold by pinfall after a wheelbarrow suplex at 5:03 **squash match
Bout #2 Tony Twist defeated Squeegee Kid by pinfall after a sucker punch (with his feet on the ropes) at 4:44 **Twist is not looking very polished yet and needs more training and seasoning. Kid managed to carry much of the short bout. In the end the ref got between the two men for a clean break after Kid had backed him into the corner, and Twist struck out with a sucker punch to the chin. Just to make sure he got the pin Twist put his feet up on the second buckle for leverage. It was however, a very powerful looking punch to the jaw.
Bout #3 Moses Luke defeated Marcus Schultz by pinfall after a running powerslam at 8:57 **the two losers from the 3-way last week which was won by Lodi to give him a title shot at Stan Baker's TV belt this week. Schultz controlled much of the bout but Luke turned the tide with his power. He nailed his finisher again when he scoops up his opponent runs him back first into the top buckle, pivots, and then hits a running powerslam.
Bout #4 #1 Contenders - Triangle Tag Team Match Greg Pawluk & Johnny Devine defeated Red Thunder & Wavell Starr and Vincent Regliatti & Eric Scott by pinfall when Devine pinned Scott after a top rope missile dropkick at 11:49 **best match of the night so far, but that's not saying a lot. After splitting their previous tag meetings, and their singles meetings it was expected that Pawluk/Devine and Regs/Scott would tangle one more time. However, throwing the Native Sons into the mix was a bit of a surprise. In the end Starr actually ran into the ring, and instead of breaking up the pin, took out Regliatti who was attempting to break it up. The Ontario pair of heels were really mad at the Native Sons, but when they tried to do something about it the new top contenders stood by their side making it 4 on 2, and ending any further discussion.
Bout #5 Fatal Four Way Match North American Women's Title Match TrummerFrauen defeated Stacey Lynn, Becky Swallows, and Jessica Judd by countout at 10:20 [TrummerFrauen retained the North American Women's Title] **not a bad match at all, had its moments for sure. The mystery of Becky's reluctance to use her own name has been solved, and it will be the butt of snide and innuendo jokes for the rest of her life (as it probably was in her real life). The story of this bout was that the 3 challengers would need to team together to overcome the powerhouse champion, but there was so much animosity after the naming angle and the guitar shots that it was next to impossible. The champ fought a fairly conservative bout, trying to stay close to a buckle, and trying to clear the ring so she could take out one of her challengers one on one. The 3 challengers indeed fought inside and outside the ring, while the champ never set foot outside the ring. In the end the 3 battled around the announce table, Judd nailed Lynn over the head with her guitar, and Becky then nailed Judd with the women's belt. All 3 women were counted out. Not only did the champ retain but there was no clear #1 contender after the mess either.
RCW RAGE - One Hour Episode
Opens with highlights of the dark matches from earlier in the night.
Bout #6 RCW Television Title Match Lodi defeated Stan Baker by disqualification for abuse of official at 7:31 [Stan Baker retained the RCW Television Title] **first of three straight televised title matches tonight. The fans were solidly behind Lodi in this one, who started in the territory as a heel but has really been more of a tweener with many fans enjoying his work. Baker though controlled most of the first 6 minutes of this match and the challenger really took a beating. However, right at the end Lodi made a solid comeback. He nailed a solid German suplex, followed up with an Arial brainbuster for a 2 count. The challenger came off the ropes with a big knee drop..2 count, set up Baker for the DDT..only to have Baker reach out, grab the ref by the shirt and pull him directly into the challenger, spilling all three to the mat. They got up, Lodi hit the DDT, but the ref had already called for the bell and ruled this one a DQ. As Lodi complained to the ref after the bell Baker attacked him from behind and laid in a bit of a beating.
Bout #7 RCW Tag Team Title Match Spinebusters: Jerry Orth & Bryan Caruthers defeated Sam Holiday & Al Hardamann by pinfall when Caruthers pinned Hardamann after a spinebuster slam (and outside interference) at 8:22 [Spinebusters retained the RCW Tag Team Titles] **given the outcome, not much point detailing what occurred during the bout. The challengers are a bona fide threat to the titles, and so Tony Twist ended up coming down to ringside and tripping up Hardamann just at the right time to turn the bout to the champions favour.
Main Event RCW Heavyweight Title Match Kurrgan defeated Vampiro by disqualification for outside interference (Manny Silva) at 10:41 [Vampiro retained the RCW Heavyweight Title] **so cool that we had 3 title defences tonight on RAGE but not cool that they were all tainted finishes. Vampiro kept the big man off balance for much of the match but then Kurrgan did have a streak when he punished Vamp. Outside the ring Vamp used the guardrail and the ringsteps to his advantage to take back control of the bout. Inside the ring the champ nails a spinning roundhouse kick, but when he picked him up for the nail in the coffin the big man shifted his weight (just like he did last week when Silva tried for the wheelbarrow suplex), and powered out of it. Kurrgan nailed a side Russian legsweep, followed by the hanging vertical suplex, got him ready for the chokeslam...but Manny Silva appeared from the back, grabbed the heavyweight title and smacked Kurrgan over the back of the head.
Post-Match: It was a two on one beatdown once Vampiro recovered, and Lord Zoltan joined his charge Silva to make it 3 on 1. Until Balls Mahoney appeared out of nowhere with a steel chair, slid in the ring and started to lay out each of the three with chair shots. He nailed Silva, then Zoltan, but before he could nail Vampiro the champ slid out of the ring to safety. This is the first we have seen of Balls Mahoney in just over a month as he has been out injured.

Dark Matches before RAGE
Opening Bout Tony Twist defeated Eddie Mustang by pinfall after a sucker punch (and a handful of tights) at 8:11 **unsuccessful premiere for the 6'3 245 lb Native American from Wyoming, but the young newcomer looked very good indeed. He controlled most of the match with a basic wrestling repertoire, athleticism, and some high flying moves. However, he got overly aggressive, and when he tried to pull Twist back into the ring when the former NHL tough guy was half in and half out of the ropes, Twist nailed him with a sucker punch to the jaw. Twist then rolled him up, got a handful of tights to make sure and got the win. Two straight weeks Twist has cheated his way to victory despite being outclassed.
Post-Match: Mustang is joined by Red Thunder and Wavell Starr in the ring. The 3 Natives seem to have struck an alliance and Mustang has joined the Native Sons.
Bout #2 Moses Luke & Darren Dalton defeated Marcus Schultz & Stan Saxon by pinfall when Luke pinned Saxon after a moonsault at 9:26 **pretty much just a throw together tag match, but the winners exhibited some nice teamwork that saw Dalton tag out to Luke but nail a sidewalk slam on Saxon while Luke got into position to nail the finisher.
Bout #3 Jessica Judd defeated Becky Swallows by disqualification for use of a foreign object at 6:21 **Becky still goes nuts when they announce her name, so when Judd giggled Becky attacked her before the opening bell. Things got even more vicious when it spilled to the outside. Jessica got the advantage, tossed Becky out of the ring, and wouldn't let her back in. Becky grabbed Judd's guitar and swung it at her legs which made Judd back off. Becky slid the guitar into the ring and entered the ring. Judd was all over her, but Becky reversed a whip to the ropes sending Judd instead but following her and nailing her with a running knee to the gut. She then nailed a legdrop to the abdomen, kipped up, and then delivered a dropkick to Judd who was sitting on her butt. Becky then wrestled the guitar out of referee Jennifer Greaves' hands and tried to hit Jessica. Judd moved and the guitar bounced off the top rope and fell. Judd went for a DDT but Becky was able to grab onto the top rope. She then lifted Judd up and brought her down on top of the guitar with a front layout suplex. This was enough and Greaves called for the bell.
Post-Match: Stacey Lynn entered the ring and tried to play peace maker. She apologized to Becky for the whole name thing and said the three of them need to work together if we are going to beat TrummerFrauen. As if on cue the big champion came up the ramp. But as they were distracted Jessica Judd grabbed her guitar and smashed Becky over the head. TF retreated, laughing as Lynn scrambled away as Judd threatened her with the broken guitar.
Bout #4 Vincent Regliatti & Eric Scott and Red Thunder & Wavell Starr battled to a no-contest at 7:30 **the two losing teams from the #1 contenders tag match faced each other, with Regs/Scott still upset over Starr breaking "the social contract" and allowing Pawluk & Devine to pick up the pinfall. This one got heated fast and spilled outside the ring. When control couldn't be established the match was thrown out.
Post-Match: Regs and Scott got ahold of a chair and started to abuse their opponents. Eddie Mustang came to their rescue though grabbing a chair of his own. However, Moses Luke appeared on scene and laid out Mustang from behind.
Bout #5 North American Women's Title Match TrummerFrauen defeated Stacey Lynn by pinfall after a chokeslam (and outside interference) at 6:48 [TrummerFrauen retained the North American Women's Title] **Lynn actually had her moments against the champ, the first kinks in the armour that we have seen. But that all fell apart when Becky Swallows came down to ringside and started to complain about everything to the announce team. TF threw Lynn to the floor outside, Lynn had words with Becky, Becky tried to Pearl Harbour Lynn from behind, but Lynn moved out of the way and Becky wrecked herself on the ringsteps. But TF grabbed Lynn by the blonde ponytail and hauled her up the steps, up the ropes, and nailed a superplex. Instead of going for the pin she scooped up Lynn and nailed the chokeslam.
RCW RAGE - One Hour Episode
We begin with highlights from our dark matches earlier tonight.
Commissioner Greg Gagne comes to the ring and says that after three screw job endings last week he has had enough. If the champions decide they want to cheat, or other wrestlers want to do run ins, then he is going to suspend people and strip titles. The heavyweight title is not on the line tonight but he says he still has his eye on Heavyweight champion Vampiro.
Bout #6 RCW Television Title Match Stan Baker defeated Lodi by pinfall after a heart punch at 7:07 [Stan Baker retained the RCW Television Title] **rematch from last week where Baker got himself intentionally DQ'd to keep the title. He had his hands full again this week with the solid attack of Lodi. However, the challenger made one mistake, flying at Baker for a crossbody. Baker anticipated it and struck out with a heart punch. Lodi's momentum still took the two down but Baker was able to roll through and make the cover.
Promo: For a new trio of young, athletic, buff looking guys all oiled up Will Damon, Donny DiCaprio and Shane Madison. They call themselves The Players Club. They aren't coming for the money, or the fame, or the titles, they are coming to have fun at other people's expense...and to pick up chicks.
Bout #7 RCW Tag Team Title Match Triangle Match Spinebusters: Jerry Orth & Bryan Caruthers defeated Greg Pawluk & Johnny Devine and Sam Holiday & Al Hardamann by pinfall when Caruthers pinned Devine after a spinebuster slam at 10:58 [Spinebusters retained the RCW Tag Team Titles] **Holiday and Hardamann did not get a clean shot at the title last week. But Pawluk/Devine won a #1 contenders tag match; so they gave them both a title shot at the same time. Solid three way match. End came when 4 men were brawling outside the ring. Devine was fighting Caruthers in the ring when Orth was able to reach in and trip up Devine. Caruthers dropped a knee across the back of the neck of Devine, then nailed his finisher for the win.
Post-Match: Busters brag. Holiday/Hardamann say they never got beat, taunt the champs who finally agree to a one on one next week. Commissioner Greg Gagne comes out and says that match will have to wait until May 13th. Next week will be a special Six Man Tag Tournament. It seems that there are a lot of allegiances being formed again in RCW, and a lot of tag teams seem to be hooking up with a 3rd. It would be perfect way to settle things in the ring; and everyone loves a tournament!
While still in the ring Commissioner Greg Gagne informs everyone that due to some health and family problems, the Hall of Fame committee had suspended their work last month and everything was behind. Things are back on track, everyone is safe and healthy. Next week will be the delayed induction ceremony for new hall of famers Steve Disalvo and Paul Orndorff, and then the Decade awards will begin again the week following with the Tag Team of the 80's.
Main Event Kurrgan & Balls Mahoney defeated Vampiro & Manny Silva (/w Lord Zoltan) by pinfall when Kurrgan pinned Vampiro by pinfall after a chokeslam at 9:23 **no gold on the line in the main event but lots of set up for the future. There is no love lost between Balls and his two opponents, and for the most part Balls dealt with Silva while Kurrgan and the champ continued their feud. In the end Kurrgan was able to get a clean pinfall over the champ to set him up as still clearly the #1 contender.
Post-Match: Lord Zoltan who had been quiet in the corner for the bout due to the threats of suspensions and title strips made by Gagne, decided to enter the ring after the bout and attack Mahoney from behind with his cane. He then tried to do the same to the Acadian giant, but the big man was not surprised and laid him out with a solid punch to the head. Vampiro though had recovered and attacked Kurrgan from behind...as we

Dark Matches Before RAGE
As mentioned last week tonight is a six-man tag tournament.
Opening Bout Quarter-Final Six-Man Tag Team Match Players Club: Donnie DiCaprio, Will Damon, & Shane Madison defeated Nick Mercury, Sam Holiday, & Al Hardamann by pinfall when Madison pinned Mercury after an Avalanche hurrancanrana at 10:01 **huge upset for the newcomers making their premiere. Young, brash, arrogant, fit, athletic, and they backed it up like a 3 man buzzsaw. "The Mecca" Shane Madison at 6'0 225 lbs, finished it off.
Bout #2 Quarter-Final Six-Man Tag Team Match Kurrgan, Balls Mahoney & Marcus Schultz defeated Vampiro, Manny Silva, and Lord Zoltan by pinfall when Kurrgan pinned Vampiro after a tombstone piledriver at 12:00 **not really sure how all the partners were picked but Zoltan did not look terribly happy to be involved, making this practically a handicap bout. However, the good guys were so distracted by trying to get Zoltan involved it evened out. The end came when Silva had to help out Zoltan leaving Vampiro at the mercy of Kurrgan and Schultz. He walked right into a chokeslam, and then the Acadian monster followed up with a tombstone. This is the second straight week that the big man has pinned the champion. Next week he will get the chance to do it for the title.
Bout #3 Quarter-Final Six-Man Tag Team Match Eric Scott, Vincent Regliatti & Moses Luke defeated Greg Pawluk, Johnny Devine & Squeegee Kid by pinfall when Scott pinned Pawluk after a tornado DDT at 9:20 **another chapter in the Ontario vs Stampede feud, but of course Squeegee is from Toronto and Luke from Seattle (via Germany). This one went to the bad guys.
Bout #4 Quarter-Final Six-Man Tag Team Match Red Thunder, Wavell Starr & Eddie Mustang defeated Bryan Caruthers, Jerry Orth & Tony Twist by pinfall when Mustang pinned Twist after a victory roll at 8:28 **second big upset of the night as the Native Sons exposed Twist to be the weak link, that even the tag team champs couldn't carry.
Bout #5 3 on 1: Women's Handi-Cap Match TrummerFrauen defeated Stacey Lynn, Becky Swallows & Jessica Judd by pinfall when TrummerFrauen pinned Lynn after a chokeslam at 7:46 **Lynn rallied the troops and kept them on track. They used quick tags and double teams on tags to wear down the champ. Just when things looked like TF might actually get pinned Lynn refused to tag in Becky on her request, Ms. Swallows took the opportunity to toss her off the top rope. Judd wasn't happy about it and she and Becky got into it outside the ring, while TF got to her feet and chokeslammed Lynn to pick up the win.
Post-Match: TrummerFrauen got on the mic and in broken Englsh told the fans that she was done wrestling little girls. Next week she wants to fight a man. She then spouted out in German, something that drew the ire of the fans.
Bout #6 Semi-Final Six-Man Tag Team Match Players Club: Donnie DiCaprio, Will Damon, & Shane Madison defeated Kurrgan, Balls Mahoney & Marcus Schultz by pinfall when Damon pinned Schultz after a frog splash at 10:03 **another big upset for the Players Club. This one was far from clean however. They were doing all right, surviving, trying to stay away from the power of Kurrgan by pulling him off the ring apron, knocking him off the apron, and distracting the ref to prevent him from tagging in. Finally though he got the tag and took out each of the three in turn with chokeslams. However, Vampiro and Balls came down to ringside and pulled Schultz and Balls into a brawl with them outside the ring. Kurrgan joined the brawl, and it ended up with Schultz unwisely entering the ring to avoid the 10 count. However, he walked right into a three on one buzzsaw. Release German siuplex by Damon, running legdrop by DiCaprio, piledriver by Madison who then held down the legs of Schultz while DiCaprio came off the top rope with a frog splash, and then Damon did the same and made the pin.
Bout #7 Semi-Final Six-Man Tag Team Match Red Thunder, Wavell Starr & Eddie Mustang defeated Eric Scott, Vincent Regliatti & Moses Luke by pinfall when Starr pinned Regliatti after a Samoan back drop at 12:20 **a minor upset, but this one could have gone either way. In the end Regliatti tried for his figure four but was kicked off. Luke came into the ring and Regs left, but there was no actual tag so the ref ordered Regs to get back in. He argued from the ring apron and Mustang ran around and pulled out the feet from Regs who knocked himself silly off the ring apron. Mustang rolled Regs into the ring, Starr hit his finisher. Luke was half out of the ring and Mustang hung on to him, and Scott was too slow to react to break up the pin.
RCW RAGE - One Hour Episode
The show begins with highlights from the seven matches tonights. In addition some post match comments and interviews are thrown in. All together this takes up half the one hour show.
RCW Hall of Fame Induction Hall of Fame committee members Stan Mullen, The Destroyer, Chris Lyon, and Tawney England are in the ring. Jim Brunzell and Mike Valiant are absent as they could not make it.
We have two inductions tonight that were named in March; Steve Disalvo and Paul Orndorff. The join The Destroyer, Marty Goldstein, Chris Lyon, Tawney England, Mike Valiant, Corrie England, Larry Cameron, David Schultz, Ben Bassarab, Jim Brunzell, & Baron von Raschke as members of the hall.
Both Steve Disalvo and Paul Orndorff are here in person tonight in South Dakota for the inductions.
"Strangler" Steve Disalvo, aka Steve Strong. Strong had a relatively short 10 year wrestling career spanning 1985-1995. Born in Boston, Massachusetts, he was trained by Billy Anderson and wrestled in the U.S. and Puerto Rico but perhaps found his greatest success in Canada with Stampede, Lutte International (Montreal), and here in the RCW. He appeared briefly in WCW as The Minotaur. Because of his physique and confidence he was typically a heel, even wrestling against Abdullah the Butcher in Montreal where the Butcher was the babyface. Steve won his first of two RCW Heavyweight titles on August 23, 1986 defeating Bob Backlund and holding it until October 10, 1987 losing it to Vendetta. Than he won it a second time on August 4, 1990 in a tournament final over Don Muraco, succeeding fellow inductee tonight Paul Orndorff who vacated it due to injury, and held it until December 15th 1990, losing it to Ricky Steamboat at the 11th Anniversary Spectacular. Let it never be said that Disalvo did not wrestle the legends of the sport. He was also named RCW Wrestler of the Year in both 1987 and 1990. His feud with Vendetta was named feud of the year in 1987, and their epic Cage Match which was the main event at the 8th Anniversary show that same year was named match of the year. This monster was 6'2 310 pounds of muscle, who now makes Minnesota his home, "Strangler" Steve Disalvo!!
"Mr. Wonderful" Paul Orndorff, like fellow inductee Steve Disalvo was born in 1949. Orndorff's career spanned from a debut in 1976 right up to currently where he makes various appearances. After a short career in pro football Orndorff trained and started to wrestle in Mid-Southern Wrestling where he began feuding with another fellow youngster Jerry Lawler. Orndorff signed with the WWF in 1983 just in time to join Roddy Piper, Cowboy Bob Orton Jr, and fellow RCW Hall of Famer Dr. D David Schultz as the main foils to the rising Hulkamania. Orndorff of course would end up turning on Piper, joining Hulk, only to turn on Hogan. The Orndorff-Hogan feud was one of wrestling's most memorable feuds and one of the biggest drawing. Orndorff would go on to have success as well in WCW. Here in River City Wrestling he made his first appearance in April of 1990. He won his first RCW Heavyweight title shortly after on May 26th 1990 defeating Dynamite Kid. Unfortunately he had to vacate the belt due to injury on July 7th. As mentioned he would be succeeded by Steve Disalvo. Paul would win his second RCW Heavyweight title on September 28th 1991 defeating fellow RCW Hall of Famer Lethal Larry Cameron. Paul would lose that belt in a steel cage on February 15 1992 to Rogue. Paul's best 2 out of 3 falls victory over Don Muraco on April 6th 1991 was named that year's match of the year in RCW. Always the physical specimen Orndorff stepped into the ring at 6'0 252 pounds from Brandon, Florida, earning him the nickname The Brandon Bull; "Mr. Wonderful" Paul Orndorff!!
Main Event Finals Six-Man Tag Team Match Red Thunder, Wavell Starr & Eddie Mustang defeated Players Club: Donnie DiCaprio, Will Damon, & Shane Madison by pinfall when Red Thunder pinned Donnie DiCaprio after a flying axhandle at 10:23 [Red Thunder, Wavell Starr & Eddie Mustang won the Six-Man Tag Team Tournament] **The fans seemed quite happy to have two young upstart teams in the final instead of the same old, same old. It was fast paced and everyone got a chance to shine. In the end a six man brawl sorted out to Thunder and DiCaprio, and on a criss cross Thunder nailed DiCaprio hard in the head and picked up the win.
Post-Match: A trophy was brought into the ring to present to the winners, which of course is never a good thing in wrestling. For the first time in the history of wrestling the trophy ended up getting busted over the head of the victors by the losers. Mayhem ensued.

Dark Matches before RAGE
Opening Bout Eddie Mustang defeated Tony Twist by pinfall after a springboard bulldog at 8:17 **rematch from April 29th when Twist won after a sucker punch. In this one the young Native star showed he is the better wrestler.
Bout #2 Non-Title Match TrummerFrauen and Porno Tony Gold battled to a no-contest at 3:10 **Gold was really in a no-win situation in this woman vs man match. Gold controlled early after attacking the women's champ before the opening bell. He also seemed to have no problems with the looks of TF taking the opportunity to grind a bit on the Amazonian. Just when TrummerFrauen was making a comeback though Jessica Judd showed up with her guitar and busted it open on the head of TF. Gold wasn't too happy but just left while Judd taunted TF.
Bout #3 Donnie DiCaprio & Will Damon (/w Shane Madison) defeated Red Thunder & Wavell Starr (/w Eddie Mustang) by pinfall when Damon pinned Thunder after a victory roll at 8:48 **excellent, fast paced bout, a limited return bout from the six-man final, and the trophy assault afterward. Madison was nursing an injury and was wearing a walking boot. You knew what was coming with that. At a critical point Madison removed his walking boot and nailed Thunder, and as if that wasn't enough Damon followed up with a mule kick and then rolled him up for the tainted victory.
Bout #4 Stacey Lynn and Becky Swallows battled to a no-contest at 6:02 **the animosity in the women's division is off the charts. The ring could not hold them and the brawl continued for several minutes after, and referee Jennifer Greaves could not control it.
Post-Match: Referee Jennifer Greaves calls out Commissioner Greg Gagne to the ring. She complains that the women are out of control. Gagne tries to turn it on her saying that she needs to do her job. She takes off her top (sorry she had another top on underneath), gives it to him and says "tag, you're in". Gagne says no problem he'll take care of it next week. All four women will be in the ring at once and he'll sort it out, like a real pro.
Bout #5 Manny Silva (/w Lord Zoltan) defeated Balls Mahoney by pinfall after a wheelbarrow suplex at 7:44 **very competitive bout, rough and dirty, could have gone either way, but Silva picked up a much needed win.
RCW RAGE - One Hour Episode
The show opens with highlights of the dark matches earlier in the night.
Commissioner Greg Gagne comes to the ring. He announces this next match will not only be for the TV title but the winner will get to face the Heavyweight champion next week in a champion versus champion match. He also announces that tonight's Vampiro vs Kurrgan main event will be refereed by Jennifer Greaves (Gagne scoffs a bit at this).
Bout #6 RCW Television Title Match Stan Baker defeated Nick Mercury by pinfall after a heart punch at 9:25 [Stan Baker retained the RCW Television Title] **Baker continues to roll, while Mercury continues to struggle. Maybe his short run as Heavyweight champ was just a fluke.
Award Ceremony - Tag Team of the Decade (1980's) - The Longriders: Wild Bill Irwin & Scott Hogg Irwin There was not a clear cut winner and other teams definitely got votes. However, only one team won tag team of the year twice in the 1980's and it was the Longriders. Wild Bill and Scott Hogg won that award in both 1986 and 1987, because although they won the tag titles only once, they held that title from February 22, 1986 until July 11, 1987, an incredible 16 month reign. Unfortunately Scott Hogg passed away in 1987, but his partner Will Bill Irwin who now resides in Minnesota was on hand to accept the award.
Bout #7 RCW Tag Team Title Match The Spinebusters: Jerry Orth & Bryan Caruthers defeated Sam Holiday & Al Hardamann by pinfall when Orth pinned Hardamann after a top rope knee drop at 12:02 [The Spinebusters retained the RCW Tag Team Titles] **good match. The 'Busters used a ref bump to their advantage, thumbing both their opponents in the eye. Tossing Holiday out of the ring, Caruthers nailed Hardamann with his spinebuster, and Orth came off the top for good measure. Caruthers then left the ring and intercepted Holiday while a groggy Kenny Jay made a slow count.
Main Event RCW Heavyweight Title Match Vampiro defeated Kurrgan by pinfall after a top rope moonsault (and outside interference) at 8:24 [Vampiro retained the RCW Heavyweight Title] **all 3 champions retained tonight. Kurrgan of course has pinned the champ two straight weeks going into this, but neither was in singles bouts. Vampiro controlled early with some chops, throat strikes, eye rakes, and things of that nature. He choked Kurrgan against the second cable, then came from across the ring and jumped on him, pressing his throat down. He went for the nail in the coffin but Kurrgan was able to fight his way out of the setup using his size and strength. Vamp tried to recover his lead with a flying spinning leg lariat, but Kurrgan barely budged. He went for it again and this time Kurrgan countered by scooping him up and then tossing him half way across the ring. A running clotheslines knocked the champ over the top rope. They brawled outside the ring, then inside. Then Vamp countered a whip to the ropes, and ended up sending Kurrgan smashing into referee Jennifer Greaves. Vampiro tried to capitalize but Kurrgan was getting too strong as the match wore on. Just as Greaves was starting to show some signs of getting up, Lord Zoltan came down to the ring, and from the apron hit Kurrgan in the back of the head with his cane. It wasn't enough to knock the big man out but he tossed it to Vamp, and when Kurrgan had his hands wrapped around the throat of Zoltan, Vamp hit the challenger from behind again in the head. He dragged Kurrgan into the middle of the ring and as Greaves got to her feet he hit the top rope moonsault, covered and got the win. Zoltan had appeared before with Silva and Vampiro, but never with Vamp on his own. Maybe he was just getting revenge against his former charge Kurrgan, but then Vampiro called the manager into the ring and the two shook hands. It looked like Kurrgan was going to get up and do some damage to them but Manny Silva hit the ring and laid out the Acadian Giant from behind. Vampiro, Manny Silva, and Lord Zoltan stand in victory.
